So on Monday nights, we're talking about the
conversations of the Quran. Today, inshallah, the conversation
that I've chosen
is the conversation
between the people of Jannah
and the people of Jahannam.
And not only that, but between them, there
is a group of people known as the
Ashabul A'raf. Today, inshaAllah, we'll be talking about
their conversation.
And before we get into their conversation, in
Surat Al A'raf, Allah
He talks about the people of Jahannam.
And he talks about one of the things
that the people of Jahannam are going to
do is, there's going to be a lot
of blame game taking place. Allah Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala, he says,
So imagine there is a generation
where they are on misguidance.
They worship other than Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala.
What happens is that there is, you know,
there is a generation after generation and everyone
is misguided
Until a person comes within that, that family,
or down the road somewhere in that generation,
where a person converts to Islam, and then
the other people will convert to Islam. But
the people who died on misguidance,
they will come to those who've died before
them, and they will begin to blame them.
The the latter ones will tell the the
first ones
the Oh Allah,
we are here because of them. They were
misguided,
hence they misguided us, and that's why we
are in this position. And hence, we are
requesting you that if there's anyone that you
need to punish, give them double the punishment.
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala will say,
Every one of you here in Jahannam,
your punishment will be doubled and multiplied. And
then Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says, when the
first one will get the blame, the first
one is gonna retaliate, and they're gonna tell
the other one.
There was no one to force you. You
put yourself in this own position.
And by the way, there is another place
in the Quran where Allah talks about this
blame that will take place in jahannam,
will be between the superior
and the inferior.
Because what happens is that there are people
who are gonna promise the the the inferior
ones. If you stand by our side, we'll
give you the riches of this world. Wallahi,
today we see the same thing happening today
right now. When you talk about the apartheid
state,
promising everyone, you stand on our side, we're
gonna give you riches of this dunya. You
stand on our side, you're gonna You're not
gonna lose your job. And those who stand
against us, they will lose their job, their
career may tank, and so many other, things.
There may be other consequences.
And subhanallah,
these same people in the fire, jahannam, they're
gonna look up to the other ones that
you promised us. And now we're in this
position because of you. In this dunya wallahi,
we as Muslims, we may suffer, but in
the akhirah, there's no one who's gonna stand
by them side, and they're gonna sit there
and blame each other. Just recently, I came
across a document
where there is an an organization
that was saying that they want to perhaps
prosecute.
They wanna prosecute Netanyahu
and so forth, and they wanna put him
on trial. And there are so many senators,
so many politicians
way. You can support one another, but that
is why you'll find a consistent theme in
the Quran.
Malakaminallahi
minwaliyin
walanasir.
In this dunya, you can support each other.
You can have each other's back but in
the akhirah,
no one is gonna have anyone else's back.
No one is gonna be able to support
each other. Even if you try to support
someone,
it cannot be done without the permission of
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala.
When these people, when they were gonna be
in the fire of Jahannam, they're gonna start
blaming each other. And this goes all the
way back to where it all started from.
And where does it start from? It starts
from shaitan.
And that is why there's another conversation that
we find in Surah Ibrahim.
When they go back all the way, and
they find that shaitan is the culprit,
they're gonna go back to him and said,
You are the one who put us in
this position. Shaitan will say,
I did not force you.
I only called you to a cause. You're
the one who responded to my cause. You're
the one who responded to my call. So
this is the state of the people of
Jahannam.
On the flip side,
the people of Jannah, Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
says Before we get into our conversation,
Allah says,
anything that's considered as hatred, malice,
jealousy.
The people in Jahannam, they're gonna have that
hatred towards each other because they're gonna blame
each other that I'm here because of you.
On the other hand, the people who are
taken out of jahannam, they're gonna be washed.
Minigilin
Everything that's in their heart, they will be
it will be taken out. There is no
person who will go into jannah, and they'll
be jealous about others. There will be no
person in jannah that will have hatred about
others, or there'll be envy towards others and
so forth.
Every person's heart will be clean. And Allah
Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala says, what will they say
when they go into Jannah? They will say,
Alhamdulillah
allavihadana
lihada.
All praises is for Allah who guided
us to this path, to this situation.
And by the way,
alhamdulillahi
lavi hadana. Hadana
comes the word hidayah.
Anytime in the Quran,
you read the word hidayah,
and hidayah is associated with the akhirah or
jannah,
you will always find the word ilah.
Guidance towards Allah. Guidance towards the Quran. The
word ilah means towards or to.
Guidance towards Jannah.
Here, the people of Jannah, they will not
use the word Why? Because now they're already
in Jannah. There's nothing after this now. You're
in jannah. You have reached your destination.
And Allah
says, they will praise Allah. Why will they
praise Allah? Because the Prophet salallahu alayhi wasallam,
he says in a hadith, which is found
in Bukhari.
That a person who is destined to go
to Jannah,
they'll be shown jahannam first.
And they'll be told,
Had you gone the wrong path, this would
have been your destination.
But because you chose the you made the
right decisions,
you always stood on the right side, you
always did what is right, Now your destination
is Jannah. Of course, if a person is
being saved from Jahannam, and being brought to
Jannah, of course they're gonna say what? Alhamdulillah.
So then, I'll Then in the prophet of
alayhi wasalam says, a person who's destined to
jahannam, they're gonna be shown Jannah, and they'll
be told this could have been your destination
but because you you went with the wrong
crowd, you stood with the oppressors,
now this is why you're gonna be in
jahannam, and that is why they're gonna blame
each other. So Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
says that
Had it not been for Allah, we would
not be in this position. And wallahi
wallahi.
The hidayah that you and I, we have.
The fact that Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala gave
us, La ilaha illallah. Muhammadur Rasulallah
wallahi, it is the greatest blessing that we
have in our life.
Think about it. Did each did any one
of us, many of us here, we were
born as Muslims.
We we came. Allah put us in Muslim
families.
He he gave us He brought us in
this dunya through a Muslim family.
Allah could have chosen us to be amongst
a non Muslim family. This is through the
rahma and the mercy of Allah. Think about
it. Did I do anything special?
Was I special? Was any one of us
here? Did we do anything special that that
Allah gave us? He brought us in this
dunya through a Muslim family?
No. This is through the rahmah and the
mercy of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala. Now, we
come to the conversation.
Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala says,
Now the people of jahannam are going to
look at the people of jahannam, and they're
going to say,
This is by the way a very important
phrase here. They're gonna be telling people, Jahannam,
Allah made us promises,
and those promises came out to be absolutely
true.
What are those promises that today you and
I, so many of us Muslims, wallahi, we
are struggling with? You know how many calls
I get that I have left making dua
to Allah.
Why have I left making dua to Allah?
Because I've made dua, I made dua, I
made dua, and Allah does not listen. I'm
in this situation, I made dua so many
times, Allah does not want to listen. I
pray salat. I come to Allah Subhanahu wa
ta'ala. I'm doing this, I'm doing that, yet
my someone in my family is sick. I'm
going through challenges. I'm going through troubles and
so forth. And wallahi, there are so many
people who are whose iman is hanging by
a thread. And no matter how many times
you tell them that brother and sister, this
is what dunya is.
Dunya is a place of Ibtila.
Dunya is a place where there is gonna
be challenges. We cannot expect that everything will
be normal, but then you are gonna find
some people who are gonna say, I understand
if I have to go through challenges
but these challenges that I'm going through is
beyond my capacity.
First of all is,
never is a Never will Allah put us
in a situation that is beyond our capacity.
We think that is beyond our capacity. It's
not beyond without it's not beyond our capacity.
But these kind of people, their iman is
hanging by a thread, And there are people
who say on the other hand, no matter
what situation Allah has put me in, this
is the promise of Allah, that anyone who
stands by Allah, anyone who does not doubt
Allah, anyone who puts their faith in Allah
Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, Allah will reward them. This
is the promise, brother and sisters, that today,
you and I, as Muslims, we are struggling
with. And Allah is telling us, even with
this whole ghazda situation that is taking place,
how many youth are coming forward and say,
Where is the help of Allah Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala? If we are on the deen haqq,
these are our brothers and our sisters.
Where is the help of Allah Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala? Why is it necessary that so many
children, so many men, so many women have
to be killed, and they have to be
massacred for Allah's help to come? Where is
the help of Allah? And they began to
doubt Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala And I've said
this before,
our job is not to understand the system
of Allah.
Our job is to put our trust in
the system of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala. I
don't understand it, but that is what iman
is. Faith is what? To believe in the
unseen. I don't understand it but I gotta
put my iman in Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala.
And I put my trust in Allah Subhanahu
wa ta'ala.
This is the This
is the promise of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
So these people, they will look at the
people at jahannam and they will say, Allah
made us a promise.
And we went through struggles in this dunya,
but Allah promised us jannah. Did,
Now by the way, many people believe
that this quote of the people of Jannah
to the people of Jahannam,
did
you find your Rabb's word to be the
Haqq?
This is not actually in reference to their
rabb. This is in reference to our rabb.
That Allah these people in jannah are saying,
Allah made us promises,
and we found them to be true.
Did your When you found When you When
Allah made you promises,
what are these promises? These promises are the
warnings.
Allah is giving out warnings to all these
people, and they will say, yes.
The warnings that Allah Now we understand. The
warnings that Allah told us about, they came
out to be true. Now, imagine
there are 2 groups who are talking to
each other. And at that time, there might
be, you know, imagine
there are some school kids who are fighting
with each other, and the teacher is just
listening to them, watching them. When the teacher
steps in and they speak, they pay attention.
Here, the people of jannah, the people of
jahannam are talking to each other,
Then an announcer comes,
The la'ana of Allah is on the people
who are the wrongdoers.
These are the people who stood in the
way.
These are the people who would try to
find flaws in the deen. These are the
people who were standing in front of justice.
They would not let justice be served. They
would not let other people stand up for
justice and so forth. And then Allah says,
Now
there is a There's a middle ground between
them.
Now between Jannah and Jahannam, there's a place
called Al Araf.
And the people there are those whose sins
and their good deeds are equal.
They will be in that place. They will
be in that place. Imagine sitting in a
waiting room, and some people are, you know,
they get a Someone comes and says, such
and such people have been approved. Go inside.
And then
the person comes out again, and they're saying,
such and such people have been disapproved. They
leave.
Imagine if your name is not even called.
Where am I?
Am I approved? Am I not approved? Right?
These people are in that situation.
Are we from the people of Jannah? Are
we from the people of Jahannam?
So these people they will say,
Those on who are in the place of
Araf,
They will rec recognize everyone by
their expression.
Some say that there is there is a
sign that these people are the people of
Jannah, these people are the people of Jahannah,
and they can see from their face that
we which people are from which group. And
then Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala says,
Now they would look, they would look at
the people with jannah, and they would say,
Assalamu Alaikum. You remember me?
Okay, you remember? I used to go to
your same dawat. Your kids and my kids
used to go to the same school. Come
on, you know me right? Assalamu Alaikum.
And they will say,
They will not be able to enter yet,
but they have this burning desire to enter
into, enter Jannah.
Then they're gonna look in this direction,
and when they look in this direction, they're
gonna find the people of Jahannam. And they're
going
to
say, Oh Allah, do not make us for
amongst them. Do not make us for amongst
these kind of people. And then Allah Subhanahu
Wa'ala says,
Now the people of Jahannam
are gonna call to the people of Jannah.
And they're not gonna have this conversation that
your Rabb was right, and what we believe
was wrong. They're gonna be in so much
pain,
They're gonna
say,
can you just give us a drop of
water? Can you just give us a little
water?
Can you just just Whatever you have, just
give us a little bit of that. And
and that's all we're asking for asking
for. Whatever Allah Whatever Allah has given you,
just give us a little of that.
These people Jannah will say,
Allah has made Jannah and anything from Jannah
haram upon these people. By the way, in
this right before these ayaat, Allah says,
Those who were arrogant, those who disbelieve in
Allah, they will not enter into Jannah. It
is absolutely impossible to enter into Jannah
Until
a camel can pass through a keyhole.
Just like it is absolutely
impossible
for a camel to pass through a keyhole,
a small keyhole. It is absolutely impossible.
Likewise, for these people to go into Jannah
is absolutely impossible.
So what do we So that you have
the people of Jannah talking to the people
of us, to the people of Jahannam. Jahannam
people are talking to people of Jannah and
not only that but you have the people
of Araw. And by the way, later on
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala shows them mercy and
they go into Jannah. But then they are
talking to people of Jannah, they're talking to
people of Jahannam. What is the most important
lesson that we can take from all this?
Because this is a just, you know, this
is one conversation,
one story in the Quran.
The greatest lesson that we can take from
all this is
do not doubt in the promises of Allah
Subhanahu wa ta'ala.
Wallahi, today, as I said, we are struggling
when it comes to our iman. Our youth
are struggling when it comes to their iman,
because
if this is all that Allah has promised,
where is the promise of Allah Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala? And this is why many people have
even given up their iman. You know how
many times I've heard, I'm done with salat.
I'm done with Allah. I've heard this so
many times now,
And people are losing their iman. Why? Because
they have lost trust in Allah's,
promise.
So those who stand by Allah's promise, who
trust Allah's promise, they'll be inshallah from the
people of Jannah. I ask Allah subhanahu wa
ta'ala to keep us always on the side
who do not ever lose their faith in
Allah. May Allah make us amongst those who
always trust Allah and stand on the right
on this on the right path on the
side of the Haqq. And may
Allah make all of us from the people
of Jannah, Ameer Abu Alaamin. Wadizakumullah khair, salaamu
alaykumullah
