AI: Summary ©
The importance of practicing the words of wisdom in life is discussed, including not mentioning things that are true and not applying them to one's life. The speaker gives advice on three words of wisdom: survival, love, and breathing, emphasizing the importance of good deeds and staying true to one's behavior. The speaker also discusses the distribution of money and the importance of manners and character in people's behavior, highlighting the need for people to take risks and give their best interests to make them their own.
AI: Summary ©
I bear witness that there is none worthy
of our worship except Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala,
and I bear witness that Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi
Wasallam is the seal of the Prophets
and the final messenger to all of humanity.
Whoever
Allah guides, there is none to misguide, and
whoever
Allah leaves astray, there is none to guide.
Alright?
Wabat, I ask Allah
to make today a blessed day. It's Eid
ul Huataha.
We thank Allah
for his blessings
throughout the year, especially on the days of
Eid.
So the focus of the Khutba today,
of course,
we go to the Masajid all the time,
especially Khutba tul Jum'ah, most of us,
and we listen to words of wisdom, we
listen to lessons and teachings from the Imam
and the Hijjuh.
So we mentioned before,
we have about
52
Friday sermons every year. 52 Khubbas.
And we spend about half an hour in
each Khubba,
so that's a lot of time. Yes, it's
a short time, but the Imams make sure
they share information about halal and haram, your
relationship with Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala and how
to be a better human being and how
to be a better Muslim.
And I always say we cannot be,
better Muslims until we become good human beings
first.
So today, inshaAllah,
I'm gonna share with you some words of
wisdom,
but the most important thing is if you
try to apply these words of wisdom to
your life. Because what is the point if
you come,
you listen to Khutba for half an hour,
and as soon as you leave the door,
you forget everything, and you don't apply them
to your life? What is the point?
So you have to practice what you hear
in the khutba,
or at least 10% of it.
So if you listen to 52 khutba's in
a year,
and you apply 10% of everything you hear
in the Khutba, InshaAllah, your,
situation will be better in the sight of
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala. You'll have better relationship
with Him, and a better relationship with the
people.
Because they don't just say things and make
things up, it takes them so many years
to come up with these words of wisdom.
So they give you the summary of their
life experience.
So say for example, one of the words
that I heard that are attributed to Luqman,
who is mentioned in the Quran, it's an
African man,
who is mentioned in the Quran,
and we benefit from Hikma and his wisdom,
surah 31.
So he said to his son, Luqman alaihis
salam, he was not a prophet, he was
a wise man. He said to his son
while he was teaching him, there are 2
things you should never mention to anyone.
How good you are to people,
and how bad people are to you. Keep
this information to yourself.
Because if you are good to people, you
give someone's salatah, a charity,
and you mention it to other people, maybe
you will lose that reward of your sadaqa.
And if people are bad to you, and
you are so you may you are making
sabr, and you go around, and you bad
mouth them, you backbite them, you lose that
reward for your patience, and you're sabr.
Ifna ladal kurhuma,
eksanukaylan
nas, way isaatun nasihilek. So this is a
wise saying that we should put to practice.
And one of the words of advice that
I always give to,
to people, and I think it's very practical.
I give this piece of advice to people
who are getting married.
And as a matter of fact, I gave
this piece of advice to a brother who
was getting married. It's a Turkish brother, Mustafa
and Zainab, they were getting married. So I
gave them the piece of advice, and I
think it's very practical.
The brothers who are married, they call it
the survival technique.
So if you apply these words of wisdom,
you live a happy married life.
So the words are, and I made sure
that the brothers said the words, the three
words in Turkish,
and we, gave the translation at the end,
and he said to his wife,
Honey,
you are always right.
I'm always wrong. Let's go shopping.
So if you apply this technique in your
in your marriage, believe me, you'll be successful,
you will be happy, and you will live
a long life.
But what is the point if you can't
pray for a couple of minutes,
then you become a kum right after? Like,
bye bye. He died peacefully in his sleep.
This is what they always say in the
news. Right? So if you listen to the
words of wisdom and you try to apply
them, you will live a happy life.
Today, InshaAllah, one of the most
interesting pieces of wisdom that I have come
across,
and maybe you are familiar with, the teaching,
is the, this dialogue between Hadim Al Assam
and Shaiti, Shaiti Al Balchi. It's a very
famous dialogue, and it is mentioned in the
You Ulu Midin lil Imam Al Ghazari.
It's mentioned in his book. So he shared,
Hatem al Assam,
shared 8 pieces of advice, or naseehah, or
words of his wisdom, with his teacher, Shatiq
al Balhi.
So, Shatiq al Balhi was basically the teacher
of Hatem al Assam. Both of them were
big scholars of Islam.
So Shafiq al Balkhir, the teacher,
sala'alah, tell me that who Hatem al Assam,
kam sahibtani.
So the teacher, al Balkhir, said to his
student,
al Assam,
how long have you been following me and
learning from me?
I followed you, I came to your halakta,
your classes, 30 years.
So the teacher said to the student,
What is the most important things that you
have learned from me? Ma'am al a fattamini.
Faqala a fattuminka
famaniya tamasai. I've learned 8 things from you.
So the teacher was disappointed, and he said,
SubhanAllah,
You stayed with me 30 years, and you
only learned 8 things? The most important things
you learned from me?
Aapki isaatko imushkalein?
Like, what's your problem? You should learn more.
He said, I learned so many things, but
these are the most, the 8 most important
things.
So I'm going to share these 8 with
you, and I think if you apply each
of the 8 things, you will live a
happy life in this dunya, and you will
be in a good place in Ahrar, bi
in the night time. Fatal Hazimahin, what did
you learn from me? What are the 8
most important things that you learned from me?
So when I look at people, I see
some of them are envious, They hate each
other.
And they are envious because some of them
have been given more than others.
So those who get less from Allah Subhanahu
Wa Ta'ala, they envy
those who get more.
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala,
nahnuqasamna
bayinahu maishaatahu wa'l hayati dunya. Allah subhanahu wa
ta'ala is telling us in the Quran,
I am the one
who gives risk to you. Not other people
give you risk, it's Allah who gives risk.
So I am the one who gives some
more, and I am the one who gives
some less.
And this is for for Hikma from Allah
Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala. And the Hikma is mentioned
in the Quran. وَالَا مِنُمْ
مِتَجْعِيمُمْتِ مِمِ
So Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala says in the
Quran, If Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala
were to make everyone in this world a
millionaire or a billionaire,
life on earth would have been disrupted.
Because
no one will go to work.
You will not have doctors, you will not
have teachers, you will not have taxi drivers,
you will not have engineers.
No one will go to school, no one
will learn anything, because
everyone has money,
no one will work,
so the society will be totally bizdah. Life
will be disrupted,
and this is why, what Allah Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala says in the Quran.
So Allah
gave some more and some less, so we
can employ each other and serve each other.
So this is the hikmah.
So Hadim said, Allah
gave some more and some less, the distribution
is from him. And when he said, I
read this in the Quran, I put my
heart at ease because I know that no
one is is taking my risk, and the
distribution is coming from him. So those who
get less should not envy those who have
more, and those who have more should not
look down upon those who have less, because
it's all from Allah.
The second thing, when I looked around,
I see some people are being proud of
what they have. Like Allah gave some more
money, so they look down upon people. Do
you know who I am? Do you know
who my family is? Do you know what
my job is? Do you know how much
money I have? So people are proud for
something that Allah has given
them. Then when I looked at the Quran
to see who is the best in the
eyes of Allah, Allah subhanahu wa'ala says in
Surah Al Jura, Surah, 49, ayah number 13,
Innaqaramakummahendallallahi
At Taqun.
Indeed the best of you in the eyes
of Allah, in the sight of Allah, are
those who have more taqwa, those who have
good manners,
those who are kind, and those who are
generous and sincere.
These are the best worth, the finest in
the eyes of Allah. Not because of your
money, you can lose your money. The stock
market will collapse, you will lose everything.
If you are proud because of your health,
you can lose your money, or your health.
And so on and so forth.
The finest of you, the best of you
in the eyes of Allah are those who
have manners, those who are the finest in
their attitude, and in their character, and behavior.
He said, when I look around,
I see pea different people, they love different
things. So some people, they love
their money. Some people, they love their kids.
Some people love their moms.
Some people love their
their job. Some people love their laptop. Everyone
has something, an item they love.
Then he said, but when I looked, every
time we take a funeral
to the graveyard,
you don't take the stuff you love with
you. You leave everything behind.
So I realized that the only thing that
I can take with me inside the grave
is my good deeds, so I loved my
good deeds, and I did them purely for
the sake of Allah.
So you cannot take anything with you to
the grave. You leave everything behind, and as
a matter of fact, Ilkafan, the Shroud, does
not have pockets, if you haven't realized.
Yeah, there is this story we have, I
heard in, Egypt, there is this guy, he's
married to this lady, and they worked hard
for so many years,
and they made like $2,000,000,
and they made a deal together.
The husband said, if
I die first, you take half the money,
you put half, $1,000,000
in my grave. I want to take the
my share with me and Akhrah.
And if you die first, my wife,
honey, if you die first, Insha'Allah, I'm gonna
take half, $1,000,000, I'm gonna put $1,000,000
with you.
No problem.
Sure enough, the husband died first. Usually, the
sisters, they live a long life. MashaAllah. Their
life expectancy is longer, and this is this
is the fact.
So,
you know, the brothers heart attacks, blood pressure,
and they die. Right? But the sisters, Masha'Allah,
they live a long life, they have more
sovereign, more patience, and so on and so
forth.
So the sisters thought, yes, I made the
deal with the guy, if he dies first,
I'm gonna give him half the money,
but what is he going to do with
the money in Accra? Like, when you go
to the next life, there's no, like, ATM
machine, there's no you can't go to the
store. You don't need money over there.
But,
she found a compromise to give him half,
to keep her pledge, keep her word, and
keep all the money.
She took the $2,000,000,
and she wrote him a check, and she
put it in the grave with him.
Alhamdulillah.
Right?
But technically, you can't take your wealth with
you in akhirah, the only thing you will
take with you in the grave is good
deeds.
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala says, in the Quran,
those who are in
awe or mindful of standing before Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala for judgment, they know that there
is qiyamah,
and they will stand before Allah, and He
will hold them accountable for their actions.
If they keep this in their mind,
then they would be careful.
They will be aware
that you'll be accountable for your actions, and
this is why if they don't follow their
nafs, their desires, then Allah will give them
Jannah. But if you follow your desires all
the time, so your desires will tell you,
Don't put money in salatah, you just take
the money and go to Las Vegas.
They will tell you, Don't help the helpless
and the poor, you can take the money
and buy something you like, ice cream, something.
Right? So, the nafs, and Allah Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala is telling you, Don't listen to the
nafs.
Yes, take care of yourself, live a good
life,
but do the good things as well. This
is what will benefit you in Haqqah. He
said, Well, I've seen this in the Quran,
I know now what to do. Allah wants
goodness for me, but my nafs wants evil
for me.
Amal Khaimisatuh.
I see everyone
cherishing something. Some people, they cherish their wealth,
and they protect it. If they have money,
they put it in the bank. If they
have jewelry,
they buy this
vault or something in the house, and they
keep it because they are afraid of the
Tugh, the Chor,
the thief, hearses, to come and take my
money.
So I realized
that what I have with Allah Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala, this is what will stay for me
till the end of time, and that is
my good deeds, so I trusted all my
good deeds with Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala, He
will protect them. I don't have to put
them in the bank, or put them in
a vault, Allah will protect them.
When I looked in the Quran to look
who my real enemy is, and Allah says
it very clearly in the Quran, the Shaytan,
the Devil is your enemy.
I don't take human beings as enemies. No
one is my enemy, except for shaitan, the
Devil. So I direct all my enmity towards
him. Human beings are not my enemies.
I don't hate anyone, I just hate the
wrong things they do by my real enemy,
Shaitan.
To Adawatiya Allah Shaitan.
When I looked around and I see people
humiliate themselves
just to make a living,
they put themselves to shame to make money,
and Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is sending them
the risk in a halal way, but they
take it in a haram way. And they
humiliate themselves.
The people who sell drugs,
the people who sell alcohol,
the people who work in the * industry,
those who work as prostitutes and pimps, and
so on and so forth. They humiliate themselves
to make a living.
They do this to make a living. And
when I read in the Quran,
There is nothing in this world, no living
being, whose risk is not guaranteed by Allah.
Your risk is guaranteed.
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala is sending you a
risk. So he said, when I saw this,
when I read this in the Quran, I'm
not humiliating myself to anyone.
I honor myself because I know my risk
is guaranteed by Allah.
And finally, the last one.
You see, when I look around,
and I see people
feel comfortable in their life because they know
they have money, they have their family to
look after them, they have their good health,
they are married to this lady from this
high noble family, and the people are assured
because of all these things. Then I realized
that Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala can take all
these things from you like this. He can
take your money,
you get into an accident, you lose your
health,
your wife will divorce you, so you'll lose
this status, and so on and so forth,
or your husband will divorce you. So when
I've seen everything taken away from people,
then I put my trust in one thing
that cannot be taken away, which is Allah
Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, the eternal, and he doesn't
die. Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala says in Surah
Fukhan, wataawakalalal
hayyil laveelaimud.
So as you know, today is the day
of Eid,
and, we ask Allah
to bless this day for us and for
the Ummah. Make sure, inshallah, you make dua
for our brothers and sisters,
in Burma,
for the,
the target of persecution
and ethnic cleansing.
And it seems no one is caring about
them, you know, and so on and so
forth. But we keep them in our dua.
If you are able to send them donations
through legal channels,
if you send letters to MPs and the,
you know, the gov the politicians in Canada
to put some pressure on the government
of, Myanmar.
So we ask Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala to
make it easy for them and to give
them safety and protection.
And always remember your brothers and sisters worldwide
in Pakistan, in Afghanistan,
in Palestine,
in Iraq, in Syria, in Yemen,
in Libya, in Egypt, in Turkey.
So every time something bad happens in a
Muslim country, or as a matter of fact,
anywhere in the world,
So we pray for safety and protection for
the people of Texas, for example, that were
full of, you know, Harvey, and so on
and so forth. There was a flood, I
believe, in Bangladesh and other places in the
world. We made God for the safety of
everyone, Muslim or non Muslim, and we ask
Allah to give Hidayah to everyone.
Ameen arabalalami.
The last thing I want to say, today
is the day of Eid. We know in
Islam we have 2 Eid, Eid al Fitr,
which comes after Ramadan, and Eid al Atha,
which comes close to the end of the
Hajj. So these are 2 special days. Make
sure inshaAllah,
you have a joyous time with your family,
take a day off, the weekend is coming
tomorrow and after. Take your family out, buy
them food. If you don't have the time
to go out, at least cook cook something
for them. Even if you boil eggs,
Make sure that you show them that you
care about them, and have time for them,
because they look at their friends when they
go to the public school, and they see
their friends all the time they're having Christmas,
Halloween, Valentine's, this that, and so on and
so forth.
So we need to make sure that our
kids, inshaAllah, they have a good time, give
them gifts, take them out, buy them food,
and all the good stuff they need, inshaAllah,
to make sure that they enjoy the 'eel
and they have a good time in the
'eel. We ask Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala to
accept our rebalah, and give us the best
in this life and the best in the
life to come, and give us sincerity in
everything we say and do.
