Mustafa Khattab – The Sahaba 6 6

And

I will talk about 2 things that make

the Sahaba better than many of us,

or why we are not as good as

the Sahaba. Two main reasons.

This is the vision for many people. So

I was saying that most of the people,

and this one makes us different from the

Sahaba, they had a mission in life and

they had a vision.

So their mission and their vision was to

get to Jannah, to make it to Jannah.

And they used this life as a plantation

for the next life.

They knew that this life is a very

short life.

This life is very short.

And the next life is the eternal life.

The next life

is nothing compared to this life. This life

is full of pain,

problems,

difficulties, but next life, once you put your

feet in Jannah, you'll be taken care of.

And this is why they were ready to

sacrifice

everything for the next life.

Many of us

don't have a mission or a vision in

life. Their only mission and vision is to

make money, make babies,

play cards, and die.

That's it.

So many of us and, of course, this

story is in Sahih Muslim, Umayr bin Hamam

Al Sa'ib was from Al Asad

right before the battle of but the the

prophet

gave him a speech

and told him, stand

up to go to Jannah,

which its width and height is as big

as the heavens and the earth. So while

the Sahaba Umayyad ibn al Haman, he was

eating some dates in his hand, and he

said, oh, prophet of Allah, I want to

be from the people of Jannah. So the

prophet

said, you are one of its people.

So he threw away the dates in his

hands, and he said, if I lived

a few minutes to eat these dates, it's

a terrible life. I don't need this life.

I want to go to Jannah. Then he

joined the maharaka, the bellow, and he died

as a shayid. And he was the 1st

shayid from Aban Al Ansar.

Some of us have lived for 80 or

90 years, and they always think that they

are young.

No teeth,

they can't see, no hair. They are walking

with the 2 kids, 1 in the right,

1 in the left. But every time you

remind them of Afra, they have to do

good,

they live a miserable life, they are giving

everyone trouble. But when you remind them of

Afra, they tell you, I'm still young man,

I'm still young. I still have a long

life ahead of me.

So there is nothing wrong in Islam if

you live for this life, if you make

money, you have nice car, a nice house,

but you also have to do something for

the next life. This is the real life.

They like them, but because they saw the

prophet salalam eating them.

And Abdullah ibn Islam used to walk in

a certain part of the road because he

saw the prophet salalam walking there. He just

wanted to do like him.

Him.

Many of us, we don't have this. We

don't have an example to follow. We don't

have a role model. If you ask many

of our children

or even youth, who is your role model

in life? They will tell you, I want

to be, a soccer player like Missy. I

want to be a build a dancer like

this. I want to be,

this and this, an actor.

You see them walking in the streets around

Halloween

like zombies dressed up in crazy costume

or in Christmas, or knocking on people's doors

asking for candy because there's no wrong order.

They always look for out for others.

So we have to dig in our history

and look at the Sahaba and follow them.

So I was teaching a class, and I

was asking the brothers and sisters in the

class 3 years ago in the US,

who is your role model from among the

Sahaba? If Allah subhanahu wa'ala made you one

of the Sahaba, which one of them you

wanted to be?

So the men said, Abu Bakr, Omar, Uthman,

Ali, and a different Sahaba. And the sisters,

that was a surprise to me, that all

of them wanted to be Abu Bakr, Omar,

Uthman, Ali. So I said,

All of the ladies want to be men

like us.

There's Umu Salamah, there's Hafsa, there's Anisha, and

the other,

female Sahaba. Why don't you like to be

like them?

In conclusion,

the best thing to do to be like

the Sahaba, you have to study their lives

and pick one of them and try to

be like them in the best qualities they

enjoyed. And it's how it

And eventually gave up. He said, I couldn't

I couldn't match him. Every time I tried

to beat him in doing something good, he

always beat me, big time.

And the Sahaba used to say, the more

those man gave, the more Allah

blessed him, and his money always grew like

worms.

So he can follow the Sahaba in brotherhood.

In the story of Umayyad Nuwah, he came

to the prophet

to kill him.

And at the end of the story, when

he accepted Islam, Rasul SAW Salam Abu

So the prophet told him, take your brother,

teach him Quran. So Omar Khattab Al Hilbal

Alai when Umayyad first came to the prophet,

was dearer to my heart than him.

But once, as soon as he accepted Islam,

he is not bitter to me than my

chill.
