Mustafa Khattab – The Prophets Night Journey 1

I bear witness that there is none worthy

who are worship except Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala.

And I bear witness that Muhammad salallahu alayhi

wa sallam peace be upon him is the

seal of the prophets and the final messenger

to all of humanity. Whoever Allah subhanahu wa

ta'ala guides, there is none to misguide, and

whoever Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala leads to stray,

there is none to guide the right.

Aliyom insha Allah,

So this week we commemorate the Prophet SAW

Alaihi Wasallam's journey

from Mecca to Jerusalem then to Asama, the

night journey. But before we begin inshaAllah, we

would like to remind you of all the

suffering

and the pain of our brothers and sisters

in Syria, especially in Khalil Khalipu.

So make dua for them that Allah, subhanahu

wa ta'ala, will make things easy for them,

and we ask Allah, subhanahu wa ta'ala, to

protect them, and we ask Allah, subhanahu wa

ta'ala, to give justice to those who persecute

and harm them. So may Allah, subhanahu wa

ta'ala, make Syria safe. May Allah, subhanahu wa

ta'ala, make Palestine

safe. Amen. And may Allah, subhanahu wa ta'ala,

make India, Pakistan, and all Muslim,

countries where Muslims live safe and all the

world safe. Ameen Ameen.

So the prophet before

the hijrah,

he was going through a difficult time,

and he had a saba of rikhnahatul jisalaamiraj.

So

as we know in psychology when someone is

trussed out and they go through a difficult

time, they need to talk to someone and

they know they need to go somewhere else.

And this is precisely what happened.

So 1 year or a year and a

half before the hijrah, the the Prophet was

going through this difficult time.

The people of Mecca were giving him a

hard time, but at least the Prophet

was able to go somewhere else. But in

the case of our brothers in Syria, they

are being persecuted

and harmed, and there is nowhere they can

go. No one is there to help them

except Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.

So his wife Khadija passed away,

his uncle Abu Talib passed away, and these

were his biggest 2 biggest supporters,

and the people of Mecca were by cutting

them, they were giving them a hard time,

no food,

no shelter, nothing,

so much so that in 3 years they

started to eat leaves

and grass. So this is how difficult it

was. So Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala

to comfort him, He revealed some Surahs of

the Qur'an. Surah Hud,

Surah Yunus, and Surah Yusuf

to comfort and console him and to show

him that the fate

of of the the the people who are

persecuting the prophets, this is their fate. Allah

subhanahu wa ta'ala would prevail at the end,

and Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is there for

you, just like he was there for Yusuf,

just like he was there for Hud, just

like he was there for Yunus and the

different prophets mentioned in these, swords.

Sometimes it's it's difficult for us to comprehend

how it happened.

So sometimes it's hard for some people to

comprehend how can Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala move

the Prophet SAW Alaihi Wa Salam from Makkah

to Jerusalem into the heavens.

And we know that in Surah Naml,

in the blink of an eye, the scholar

in the story of Soleiman was able to

transfer or move the throne of Bilqis from

Yemen to Philistine

in the blink of an eye.

So this is a man, a man with

knowledge, as Allah subhanahu wa'ala says. So what

about Allah subhanahu wa'ala himself?

A 150 years ago, if you told someone

that you can't travel from

Karachi, Pakistan, or from Mumbai, India, or from

Istanbul, Turkey, or from Cairo, Egypt to Toronto,

in one day, they think you lost your

mind. You're crazy.

But now, you can pray

Fajr in Cairo, or Istanbul, or Karachi, and

you get in these places, and you can

pray Malayb in Toronto, the same day.

And we're talking about human beings moving human

beings from one place to another. What about

Allah

The time and the place don't mean anything

to Allah

He is the most powerful,

So

these things are beyond our comprehension, but nothing

is impossible for Allah

So Abdullah ibn Mas'ud Radiallahu Hazra'ala who has

reported in Muslim ibn Abdul Ahmed

and also in Al Bayhafi. When the Prophet

salallahu alayhi wasallam

was,

moved from Makkah to, Al Quds Bayt Al

Maqdis and he was taken to the heavens,

he was given 3 things.

Number 1, he was ordered to pray 5

times a day.

And number 3, the prophet was given

the last 2 ayahs of Surat Al Baqarah.

We know that the ayat of Quran were

revealed either in Mecca or in Madinah,

or inside the Kaaba. One Ay in particular

is Surah 4, Surah Al Nisa was revealed

inside.

The rest of the Quran was revealed outside.

The majority of the Quran was revealed on

this earth, but these 2 ayat, the last

2 ayat of Surah Baqarah, Surah 2, were

revealed in the heavens during that night journey.

And the third thing, the prophet salam was

given this good news that whoever among your

Ummah does not commit shirk,

whoever does not associate anything with Allah, Allah

will forgive them and give them Jannah. So

this is a good news.

Now,

a little bit, we'll focus a little bit

on salah, why Allah subhanahu wa'ala gave the

order to the Prophet salallahu alaihi wa sallam

to pray during that night?

Why did he not send Jibreel alaihi wa

sallam to,

to tell the prophet salallahu alaihi wa sallam,

you have to pray 5 times a day

as he did with Zakah and Umrah and

Hajj sorry, Hajj and and fasting and so

on and so forth. Why salah is very

special? We usually give the analogy,

that you work for someone,

for a company,

and if your boss wants you to do

something, he would just shoot you an email.

If it is something more important, maybe he

will give you a call. And if it

is super important, he will just call you

and say, hey, I want you to come

to my office because I have something extremely

important. I want to talk to you in

person.

Now in the case, walillaiilmatul

a'la, in the case of zakah, or saum,

or Hajj, Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala would send

Jibril alayhi salam to the prophet salam and

tell him, this is what you need to

do. But in the case of salah, because

it's very important,

Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala brought the Prophet salallahu

alayhi wa salam all the way

to to Al Sadawatirullah

to give him the order directly.

This shows you how significant

and how important salah is.

Also,

during that journey, the prophet passed

by Jannah, and he saw some things in

Jannah, and he saw some things in in

Jahannam. So we'll take a look, a quick

look at some of the things that the

prophet

saw,

and this will give us a glimpse and

an insight on what it's going to happen.

Falamiyah SAW Hassan Adnaa rajlatil maraj

raaamashahih

fee,

fee aljannah

wakathalikauriya

mashahit finna.

So when the Prophet SAW Hassan

passed by Jahannam or Jahannam was shown to

him,

So the Prophet salAllahu alaihi wa sallam saw

some people in Jahannam,

and their heads were smashed with stones.

And when the Prophet salAllahu alaihi wa sallam

asked, what's wrong with these people? Why are

they being punished in this way? Then he

was told,

these people whose heads became,

heavy when it was time for salah. In

other words, they became lazy when it was

time for salah.

So they were running around,

doing their work,

basketball,

video games. When it was time for salah,

they didn't have time to pray, and this

is the punishment.

And the prophet

saw a group of people, and they were

eating dariyah, which is a thorny plant.

They were eating thorns.

And in the hadith, it says they were

eating like animals.

And the scholars say the reason that they

became like, they eat like animals, is when

they saw their brothers and sisters suffering,

they have nothing to eat, they were homeless,

they were being persecuted, they have nothing,

and still you treated them inhumanely. You didn't

feel anything for them.

You didn't give a humane treatment to them.

And this is why if you didn't give

them a humane treatment in this dunya, you

will be treat treated inhumanely in the next

life. So we get exactly the same treatment.

And the prophet shalallahu alaihi wa sallam passed

by a group of people,

So the prophet shalallahu alaihi wa sallam saw

a group of people, they were eating rotten

meat,

although there was good meat, fresh meat next

to them. And when the prophet shalallahu alaihi

wa sallam said, okay, why are they getting

this punishment?

He was told, these were married people, they

had wives,

they had husbands,

but still they committed

They were dating someone, they were fornicating with

someone,

so they get a similar punishment.

And the prophet

saw a group of people, they were tear

tearing their faces.

They were tearing their faces, and the bones

were showing. And when the Prophet

asked, Why are they getting this punishment? He

was told, These are the people who used

to smile to your face.

They smiled, they put their screensaver on their

face, they did the big smile,

but behind your back

they they they stabbed you in the back.

They they used to backbite people. And this

is what happened, they smiled on their face,

and

they backbite you behind your back, then they

are tearing their faces. They get the same

punishment.

They had heavy loads on their backs, they

can't even walk,

they're kneeling down, they're crawling, they have heavy

weights, burdens on their backs, but still they're

taking more burdens and putting them on their

backs. And the prophet said, what is going

on? Why are they doing this? They they

they their backs, they have heavy loads on

their backs, they can't even walk,

and still they're taking more and putting on

their backs.

And he was told, these were the people

who were greedy for authority. They had greed

and hunger for authority,

and they were not even qualified. You can't

even hire one of them to to run

your candy shop. They don't have the qualifications,

they don't have the administrative abilities to run

a country or an office, but still they

were abusing people. It doesn't matter if they

kill 100 of 1000 or millions of people,

they don't really care. All they need is

that Kursi, this throne,

this high office, even at the bones and

the blood and the flesh of people, they

didn't care.

Whenever I read this in Rehlat Al Baraj,

Atavakar Al Abbas, Amin Nabi Usa Asal.

So Al Abbas, the uncle of the prophet

salallahu alayhi wa sallam, his uncle.

I'm not talking about someone from another country

or someone who is not related to them.

We're talking about the uncle of the prophet

salallahu alayhi wa sallam himself.

He came to the prophet salallahu alayhi wa

sallam and said, you Rasool Allah, can you

make me a governor or a mayor or

something? You know.

So the Prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam said,

No, no, no.

I know you have the desire

and as you know for anyone to succeed

at anything you have to have 2 things.

You have to have the desire to do

it, and you have to have the ability

to do it. So evidently, you Abbas radiAllahu

anhu had the desire, but you didn't have

the administrative ability. So the Prophet SAW said,

no. You Amma,

you don't have the administrative ability.

You you you cannot do it.

And this, if you take something that you

are not able to, to do, then on

the day of January, it will be a

source of disgrace for you. But those who

are qualified, no problem.

You know the story of Yusuf and Surah

Yusuf, he assumed

this high office in Egypt, but he was

qualified.

And the prophet didn't give him that,

that office to to run, because he was

not qualified.
