And who is better in speech
than those who invite others to the way
of Allah, and they do good? And they
say or they proclaim or declare we are
truly Muslims. Right?
So I'm gonna start with a couple of
stories from,
Edmonton.
I spent a couple of years in, in
Edmonton.
It was a very,
humbling and enriching experience
there. So the first story is about a
brother
who was not practicing,
then for some reason Allah opened his heart
to, practice.
And
so I was there and he started to
come to the Masjid. He didn't come before
but when I was there he started to
come to the Masjid
and he became my Dawah assistant.
We stayed together for about a year and
a half. Excellent brother, Misha'aab.
And remember before that, he didn't practice, he
didn't pray like many of our youth. Right?
At some point, they slowed down when they
get a little bit older. Allah subhanahu wa'ala
gives them hidayah. Each and every one of
us has
a jagulia
phase in their life. Right? But the lucky
ones are those who are guided by Allah
Subhanahu Wa'ala in the right time.
So this brother
was guided
for the last 2 years of his life,
and while he was there, he got into
an accident, a motorbike accident, and he died
at the age of 30. Right? An excellent
Muslim brother.
Then there's also this story of another brother.
I never met him. Right?
So one of his friends told me that
this brother,
his mother was asking him to go to
the masjid for Salatul Jum'ah, he never came.
Whenever she told him, okay, go pray Jum'ah.
This Jum'ah, he said, okay, next week. Next
week,
why don't you go to the masjid tomorrow.
Right?
So
eventually,
he came to the masjid for salah. And
it was a Jum'ah, actually.
But he didn't come to pray.
He came for to be prayed on. He
also died. I don't know what how he
died. Maybe he got into an accident,
and he died. He never prayed in his
life. He was only 17 years old, like
many youth in our community,
and I was told this story by one
of his friends. Right? So he also died
young. There is no age,
certain age for death. Young people die and
old people die. Right?
So
why am I talking about this? The reason
I'm talking about this is because Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala in the Ayat we cite in
the beginning talks about the excellence of the
people who do Dawah. Right?
And they are the people of Hikma, the
people of knowledge and and patience.
Why they are the best people as Allah
says in the Haya?
Because because
those who do Dawah,
they do the best job. They do the
job of the prophets. What was the job
of the prophets? Dawah. Inviting people to Allah.
Right? And they're not expecting anything from them.
Right?
But before we do Dawah,
especially
in good times like this or Ramadan,
when people's hearts are open
or at the time of Janazah, people come
and they cry. They never come to the
masjid. They only come for Janazah
or maybe they come for Eid. You never
know. But when they come,
their hearts are open. They are ready to
listen. Right? And Allah
maybe Allah
will give them.
The prophet says in the Hadith that the
hearts of the people are between 2 fingers
of Allah. He flips them as whoever however
he wishes. Right? So maybe someone has you
think has a hard heart and the next
thing Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala gives them. You
never know. Right? So we have to look
for the right moment to speak to them.
You have to talk to them with Hikma.
Right? Hikma basically means, I always say this,
to say the right thing at the right
moment in the right way. Our biggest problem,
especially when we deal with the youth
and many of them are rebellious because once
they start to speak with
a coarse voice,
they start to grow a mustache. Right? They
think, mashallah, they're big, and you cannot correct
them. Right? And we do have a problem
when we talk to them.
We try to correct them in a in
a bad way.
You call them hamal. You call it bad
name. Right?
Why you're not praying, idiot?
Something like this. So you cannot correct someone
by offending them. Because if you offend them,
you put them on the defense and they
will never listen to you. You have to
give it to them.
When I see our brothers and sisters, the
young ones in their teens, who are not
praying tonight.
Right? They sit in the back, they talk,
they're not praying because
supposedly you're
over 10 years old, you're supposed to take
part in the salah. But if you sit
back and, you know, and talk and fight
and all these things,
I remember the hadith of the prophet
about Abdullah Muhammad Allah and Uma.
He was a youth.
I don't know. Maybe 15, 16, So
the prophet
knew that Abu Abdullah Muhammad didn't pray at
night. He would pray the 5 namaz, but
nothing else at night. So the prophet said,
and this is in Bukhar. He said,
Abdullah Nohamal is an excellent man. He's an
excellent man, but I wish he prayed at
night because he would be a better person.
So what did the prophet
do? He praised him first. He said something
good about him. He said he's an excellent
man, and he called him a man,
and he said I wish that he would
pray at night. Right? So they say in
that Khadid, when the prophet
said this and Abu Laht and Umar heard,
he was young.
They say
after this, the prophet
after he said this, Abu Laht and Umar
used to sleep very little at night. He
used to spend most of the night in
salah. Why? Because the prophet
respected him. He said something positive about him
then corrected him. He didn't soften? He didn't
pass on him? Nothing. He just said something
positive
and your youth changed totally. Right?
Part of,
the good way of doing naseerha to people
not to make fun of them. Right? Because
again it's Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala who gave
you that you didn't give you that to
yourself.
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says in the Quran,
yeah.
Hidaya is the light of Allah. He gives
it to whoever he wants. It's not for
everyone. Right? He only gives it to whoever
he wants. If you want Hidaya for yourself
without the
will of Allah, you can not have that.
Right? So what you need to do is
to talk to them nicely,
respectfully,
and with patience, and choose the right time.
Right? And don't offend them. So I'm gonna
conclude with this, short story then we can
continue tomorrow.
You probably heard the story of,
Sadat Nabu Lehi at Tesari.
He was a scholar and he was traveling,
and on the way, there was a a
gang,
highway robber, so they took him and they
took his money and and food just like
the other people who were traveling with him.
So they took him to the king of
the thieves. Right? The chor, the big chor.
Right?
Daku, kadu, daku.
Daku. Daku. Daku. The big chor. Right?
So he noticed that all the thieves, all
the chors were eating the food,
but the big guy, the biggest, Dakkuk was
not eating with him. The biggest thief was
not eating with them.
So Saladin Saladin Tastari said, okay.
Why are you not eating with them? Everyone
is eating our food. They stole food. They
are eating it. That's okay. But why are
you not eating with them? He said, well,
today is Monday,
and I'm fasting because this is the sunnah.
He said, Masha'Allah, this is
has Taqwa. He's a shawl or a thief,
but he has Taqwa.
So he didn't say anything. He said, may
Allah, you know, guide you for us, and
he left it at this. And he said,
okay.
Why are you fasting? He said, well, I
don't pray. I'm a thief, you know. But
I only keep this door of fasting only
when Monday is open between me and Allah.
All the other doors are closed. I just
keep this tiny door open between me Allah,
maybe he will give me hiday.
So Sad al Nisaq said, well, bye. After
3 years, I was doing Hajdu in talaf,
and I came across this man, the biggest
thief. So I came across him and said,
are are you the guy I met 3
years ago? He said, yes. So I said,
what happened? He said, well, I started to
pray, I started to fast, I started to
do the Hajj. I'm not a thief anymore
because when I left one door open between
me and Allah, Allah, Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, showered
his mercy on me through that door, and
he opened all the doors for me. So
if you see a youth or a Muslim
brother who's not practicing,
say for example, they fasted on Ramadan but
they don't pray, don't make fun of them,
don't call them idiot, don't say your fasting
is not accepted.
Maybe Allah
will shower his mercy with them through the
door of fasting and he will open for
them the other door
