I bear witness that there's not worthy of
our worship except Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala.
And I bear witness that Muhammad Sallallahu Wa
Ta'ala. And I bear witness that Muhammad Sallallahu
Wa Ta'ala is the seal of the prophets
and the final messenger
to all humanity. Whoever Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
guides, there is none to misguide. And whoever
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala leaves to stray, there
is none to guide. Alright.
Before we begin the Fuddbah, I'm gonna ask
you kindly if you can move forward insha'Allah.
Aliyama bi mashiyatillahi
ta'ala
natakallamu
ano'adurumuhim
insha'Allah.
I think it's hot in here. You can
get one of the brothers to turn the
air conditioning on inshallah.
Yes. We'll talk
So today, InshaAllah, we'll talk about this concept,
in Islamic teaching, which is we call it
Arabic Jabrul Khawater, and there is no equivalent
in the English language, but the closest one
is to put a smile on someone's face.
Especially a person with a broken heart, you
bring joy to their heart, and you make
their life easy, you comfort them, basically. One
of the names of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala
is Al Jabbar,
and one of the, significant meanings of this
name Al Jabbar, one of the 1990 names
of Allah, is the one who comforts those
who are broken,
and those who are weak and those who
are abused.
The word Jabbar comes from the root word
Jabara, like when you see someone with a
broken leg, or a broken arm, or a
broken neck, they put a cast.
This word cast in Arabic is called Jabira.
So Allah
is the one who comforts those with a
broken heart and those who are weak and
those who are abused.
There's this beautiful hadith,
Surah Al Bukurbah So the Prophet
says in a hadith, in a Tabari'
that the most beloved people to Allah are
those who are very beneficial to people. Like
they help others, they serve people, they try
to make a difference.
Then the Prophet says in this hadith, in
Tabari'
and the most beloved thing to Allah
is when you bring joy
to someone,
and you remove a hardship from them.
So bringing joy to people and making them
happy, taking care of the creation of Allah
is very pleasing to Allah
So, always remember this meaning,
and try to visualize it as jaba'
that Allah
is the one who is taking care of
you. Like when you go, we feel this
all the time, when you go through a
sister, for example, goes goes through delivery, childbirth,
and all the contractions and all the pain.
Who was taking care of the sister in
this situation? It's Anjaba.
When you go for your final exams,
and you feel like, you know, this is
a very difficult time for me, Al Jabbar
will
take care of you.
If you fall sick,
or a family member dies, it's Allah Subhanahu
Wa Ta'ala Al Jabbar who will be by
your side in this difficult time. And Al
Jabbar is the one who is supporting and
comforting and taking care of the people who
are abused.
So we always pray to Allah Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala Al
to support our brothers in Syria, our brothers
and sisters in Iraq, in Palestine,
in Kashmir, in Yemen, in Egypt, in Libya,
in Turkey, in all Muslim countries.
So this is the name of Al Jabbar.
And
out of his Hikma,
and out of his mercy and kindness,
he would reveal some Suras in the Quran.
To comfort someone.
Like, say for example,
Surah Everyone knows that Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala
reveals
these 2 Surahs,
to comfort
the Prophet because
the people of Mecca were making fun of
him, that no more revelation is coming, and
Allah let you down, and and all these
things. So Allah
reveals the Surahs
to reassure the heart of the Prophet
and to comfort him in this difficult time.
Allah
Allah
revealed the beginning of Surah Nur, Surah 24
of the Quran.
All these ayat came to comfort Aisha
when she was accused
in the story of slander. You know the
story in the books of Sira.
Allah
revealed Surah Abas
to comfort Abullah Ibloo Muqtum. And everyone knows
this story, and Allah
revealed the story, or revealed his Surah to
comfort him.
Allah
revealed
one Ayat in Surah Alisa, in Allahiha Murukum
Al Tuatul A'anaati ilaha'liha.
It is the only Ayat revealed inside the
Kaaba, and Allah
revealed this
aya to comfort a non Muslim,
Uzman ibn Talha. He was the keeper of
the Kaaba, the door of the Kaaba. He
had the keys. And in fact,
Ali told him we need the keys of
the Kaaba, now we took over, we need
the keys.
So the man refused because, you know, they
passed on the keys for generations. So Ali
said, you know what, I'm taking the keys.
He twisted his arm, and he took the
keys.
Then he went to the Prophet SAW
and the Ayat were revealed inside the Kaaba.
Allah
says in the Ayat, Allah commands you to
return the trusts to the rightful owners.
So the prophet
told him to return the keys to Uthman
ibn Talha, and non Muslim, with an apology.
So Uthman ibn Talha was so impressed that
he accepted Islam on the spot. Like
Allah would honor the trust that he had,
and the Prophet said,
Take it, take the keys, no one will
ever take it from you except the tyrant.
You will keep it till the Day of
Judgement.
So the man accepted Islam Un Nussba because
Allah
revealed salayat to comfort him.
And the Prophet SAW Alaihi Wasallam The
Prophet SAW Alaihi Wasallam was always there
to comfort people and to make their life
easy, and to remove hardship and harm from
them. And this is something we need to
learn from the Prophet SAW Alaihi Wasallam.
So in Al Nasai,
there is a Hadith, a beautiful Hadith. There
was a Sahabi from Al Nasai.
He used to come to the Halakha of
the Prophet
and he would bring his son, 2 or
3 years old, and he loved him so
much. You know little kids, we love them
when they're young.
So he would bring him to the Halakha
of the Prophet
and he would hug him and kiss him
in the Halakha. He loved him so much.
So after some time and for a few
days, the Prophet
didn't see him. He was he was there
every day. So when the Prophet
missed him, he said, what happened to this
person? What happened? I don't see him for
a number of days. They said, You Rasool
Allah his son passed away, his son died,
and the man was devastated.
So in this hadith in Nasai, the Prophet
SAW came to his house to offer him
his swords, and he saw the Sahabi devastated,
and then Prophet said, wouldn't you be pleased
when you come on the Day of Judgment,
and you see your son standing before
the Jannah, the gates of Jannah, and he
will take your hand and take you inside,
no questions asked?
So the man smiled and said, You Rasulullah,
I'm happy, I'm pleased.
No more pain, no more crying.
So in this hadith in Atir Midiq, when
the father of Jabir ibn Abdullah died as
a shahid in the battle of Uhud, he
was defending the prophet
So after the battle,
spoke to any human being, except from behind
a barrier.
But Allah
made an exception for your father, and He
spoke to him directly, face to face. And
Allah told him, whatever you ask, what you
ask me, He said, You Allah, I want
to go to Dunya, so I can't become
shayid again and again and again and again,
for you.
So Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala said, No, because
it is written in the Quran, once you
go to Aqirah, to Jannah, there is no
coming back to Duniat, Talas. It's over. So
Jabbar Abdullah
smiled, and he said, what a great honor.
So the Prophet SAW Hassan, He
would comfort the people.
Everyone knows the Hadith of Abdullah ibn Mas'ur
in Musa of Imam Ahmed.
The Prophet SAW Alaihi Wasallam asked him one
day to go up the tree to get
him this,
you know, stick for his mizwaq,
and when the Sahaba looked at the feet
of Abdullah ibn Mas'arib. He was a skinny
man, he was very short,
and it is said in some narrations that
when he passed by people,
when they were sitting down,
they were taller than him when he was
walking. So this is how short he was,
very skinny.
So some of the sahaba, when he lifted
his, pants up to be able to go
up the tree and get the, you know,
the stick for the for his teeth, when
the sahaba saw his feet, they started to
smile, look look at his, you know, feet.
So,
when Abdullah Nasruh came down and the people
were smiling, the Prophet
said, why did you smile? They said, because
we saw his feet, look at his feet.
So the prophet
said,
his feet are heavier in the sight of
Allah
than the mount of of He is a
great man. He's a great man. It doesn't
matter how he looks like, and how big
or,
you know, strong he is. This is not
what matters to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala.
Comforting the people and making them feel good
about themselves.
Don't faint people, don't make their faces feel
yellow, you know, look yellow, and don't make
them feel miserable. The prophet
was always telling people,
Make things easy. Don't make it difficult for
people.
Make people joyful and give them good news,
don't make them miserable. That was the message
of the Promised salas. So I'm gonna give
a couple of examples from our time, insha'Allah.
So
there is,
the president of India. His name was doctor
Abdul Kalam. He's the 11th president of India.
I'm gonna give an example from his relationship
with his mother, and how kind and good
he was to his mother. So he was
president of India from 2,000
to 2,007.
So what happened when he was young?
His mother would cook,
whether we're talking about biryani, or naal, or
roti. She cooked something,
and for some reason, the food was burnt.
Then his father came from his work,
and I know at our time if this
happened, this would be World War 3.
Like, weapons of mass destruction will be used.
What's wrong with you? Are you blind?
Go home.
Home. What is this? No. His father, when
he saw the the bird food, he smiled,
he started to eat, and he said, Mashallah,
it's yummy, it's good.
So his wife said, I'm sorry, you know,
I didn't mean to. And he said, okay,
Masha'Allah, it looks good. Alhamdulillah, it's good.
Then his son,
doctor Abdul Kalab, before he went to bed,
he went to his father in his room,
he went by himself,
and he said,
Dad, tell me with all honesty, did you
like the food? Did you like the biryani
that my mother cooked today?
So his his father said, well, I was
about to throw up after I ate like
it. It was horrible.
So he said, why did you tell my
mother something else? Why did you say it
was nice? He said, Sonny,
your mother was standing in the kitchen the
whole day to make food for us.
And he told him, I never met or
heard of someone who died
because he ate burnt biryani or burnt bread.
But I know a lot of people whose
hearts were broken because of hurtful words.
So imagine if I told your mother, like,
this is terrible, what's wrong with you, I'm
not gonna eat your food, go home, I
divorce you. No. I would have broken her
heart. But Khalas, it's burnt once, but see
how many times she makes good food for
the whole year. One time, two times a
year. It's not a big deal.
See? So
Another example from my brother, brother Basim in
Singapore,
South Carolina. I knew him personally.
He's a Palestinian brother, very good brother. He
has a restaurant over there.
So he goes to the Masjid all the
time.
Very good brother.
So he said he told the story, and
he said,
he met a brother, a 60 year old
brother.
I think from he's from a different nationality,
maybe India, Pakistan, Egypt. I don't know. He
didn't mention the nationality.
He said, I saw this brother in the
Masjid
for many years. Every day he was there,
5 namaz, he was always in the Masjid.
So he said, one day after fashr, while
we were leaving the Masjid,
he said, I went to up I went
up to this brother who's 60 years old,
very nice, decent brother, and I told him,
I love you, fisavirullah. He said, I love
you too, alhamdulillah.
Then brother Basim told him,
how old are you? He said, I'm 60.
He said, would you like to go for
Hajj? He say he's he started to cry,
and he said, I would love to go.
He said, Okay, why didn't he go in
the, you know, the past years? He said,
Well, I can't afford it. I, I don't
have money. You know, whatever I get from
my pension,
you know, I provide for the, my family,
and I, I don't have money. Fatal Absal
inshallah.
Then brother of Basim spoke to some brothers
in the community, business people,
and his goal was to raise
$8,500
to send this brother for Hajj.
So he said, we raised more than 10,000
in a matter of days.
And he took the money to the brother,
he gave him the money, they booked the
ticket for him, and he did Hajj a
few years ago. When this brother came back,
brother Basim went to him to welcome him
and everything.
So this brother told brother Basim,
I was thinking to buy you a gift
from over there
to make my dream come true,
but I couldn't find a gift suitable for
you except one dua I made in front
of the Kaaba.
I said, You Allah
So he said, I stood in front of
the Kaaba,
and these words came out of my mouth
automatically while I was in front of Kaaba.
I said You Allah,
He made me happy in Dunya, so You
Allah, make happy make him happy in Dunya
and Afira. You Allah, and this is not
difficult for you.
So we ask Allah
to make it easy for us to put
a smile on someone's face and to comfort
people, salallahu
alayhi
wa
bihfa.
Alhamdulillahi
wa bihamin,
So we spoke about Jabr, putting a smile
on someone's face and comfort them, comforting them.
And the opposite in where is when you
don't wash your tongue and you say things
without paying attention and hurting people.
Sometimes we do this because we're not paying
attention, and we make people cry, and and
we break their hearts.
Now when you talk about all your money
in front of a poor person, or you
talk about how strong you are in front
of a disabled
or a sick person,
or when you speak about how beautiful your
kids are in front of someone who has
been married for so many years without kids,
and they have been to every doctor in
town because they are desperate?
Why do you talk about how wonderful your
kids are?
You always talk about how wonderful your parents
are in front of an orphan, who someone
who lost both or or one of their
parents. So we need to pay attention when
we talk to people.
The kids, when they go home,
and they see the food, and they say,
okay. Leftovers from yesterday.
And you start to make a scene, very
dramatic.
I'm miserable in my life because of you.
Biryani,
or kabseh, or Mahesh, kushari. Oh, what is
this?
I'm miserable because of you. I'm not happy
They have been cooking foods for you.
Think of the Syrian kids
who drown,
or they go walk for days, and there's
nothing to eat, no shelter,
no clothing, nothing. And almost all the doors
are are closed in their face,
except
for Lebanon, Turkey, Canada, a few countries. And
the US, they are trying to pass this
law to stop Syrians from coming because they're
gonna steal their jobs and make America less
secure.
You see?
So who is there for these people? It's
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala Al Shabaam. He's gonna
comfort them. So please watch your time when
you talk to people because
you're going to hurt people.
I'm gonna conclude with this story from
And so in this story, Omar ibn Abdul
Aziz Ardalan with the 5th Khalifa,
he feels sick, he was not feeling well,
so he stayed in his house. So this
man came to him, Noi ibn Mu'tayr,
like crazy guy.
Some people, subhanAllah, they're good, but when they
speak you see bullets coming out of their
mouth.
You see, but the harm is done. So
he went to Umar ibn Abdul Aziz
and said, okay, what's wrong with you? What
what's your situation?
Like he's pretending to be a doctor or
something. So Umar ibn Abdul Aziz said, will
I feel this way, and this is what
pains, and this is what hurts? So the
messenger of this illness,
I never heard anyone who survived this illness.
Everyone dies. You're gonna die. Hopeless case.
You're gonna die.
You know?
My cousin died because of it, my neighbor,
my mom. I know
10,000 people who died because of this. Hopeless
case, you're gonna die. Bye bye.
So Omar said,
okay, what's what's wrong with you? I thought
you were coming to put a smile on
my face, you you made me miserable.
When you visit this is what he told
him, when you visit the sick,
don't talk about the dead.
