So today InshaAllah we'll talk about the concept

of shahid or martyr,

martyrdom in in Islam.

Before we talk about this inshallah because every

time someone dies,

especially back home,

they label him or her as a shahid.

Even if this person is not a Muslim,

is an atheist, and so on and so

forth. As long as they die a violent

death,

like in an accident or

in a terrorist act, they call them, they

issue fatuas in some places and they call

the person a shahid, even if they are

not Muslim.

So if they call them

shahid in their faith,

this is something, but for for us Muslims

to call someone who is not from the

faith a shahid, this is a totally different

thing because

we have a very specific,

definition for the word shahid in Islam. And

one of the requirements for this person to

be recognized as a shahid is to be

a Muslim. This is the first,

is the first criteria for this person.

Before we talk about the shahid or the

concept of shahid,

I'm going to start with a story

and after the story I'm going to answer

a question about organ donations because I get

the question all the time. Is it permissible

to donate your organs here in Canada? Because

every time you go to get a driver's

license, they give you this,

form if you want to donate,

an organ. So let me start with a
