I bear witness that there is none worthy
of our worship except Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala
and I bear witness that Muhammad salallahu alayhi
wa sallam is the seal of the prophets
and the final messenger to all of humanity.
Whoever Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala guides, there is
none to misguide. And whoever Allah
leaves astray, there is none to guide alight.
Salaatullahhee
wa taslimatuhu
aaika sayediya Habibiya Rasulullah.
So Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala describes Muhammad
at the end of Surah Tawbah as well
as many other ayats in the Quran.
So Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala says, He speaks
to humanity.
He says,
There has come to you
a Messenger from among yourselves,
among yourselves. So he is a human Messenger,
he's not an angel, as the people of
Mecca were requesting.
And we can read this in Surah Fortale,
and he says,
They were demanding a
an angel prophet. So Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
told him, I sent you a messenger from
among yourselves,
someone you can see, someone you can talk
to, but if it was an angel, it
would be very difficult for you to see
him and communicate with him.
He is concerned
by your suffering.
And He is very anxious for your well-being.
And He is gracious
and merciful to the believers. So this is
one of the descriptions of the Prophet
and as we commemorate the birth, and the
mission,
and the manners of Muhammad
throughout this month, today inshaAllah we'll talk about
The special characteristics
of the Prophet
as highlighted in the Quran
and in the sunnah of the Prophet SAW
Alaihi Wasallam, and the goal is not to
entertain you,
but to give you a role model that
we can follow, and we can learn from
His example SAW Alaihi Wasallam.
So one of the characteristics of the prophet
of course, there are some qualities
that are very unique,
and some characteristics of the prophet
in this dunya and in Athra. So we'll
focus on 2 in this dunya and 2
in Athra.
So the 2 in dunya,
number 1, the message of Muhammad salallahu alaihi
wa sallam is universal,
unlike any previous prophet, salallahu alaihi wa sallam.
And number 2, he came as a mercy
to the whole world.
So the first one, the message of the
Prophet salallahu alaihi wa sallam is universal,
as we mentioned before,
So when the Quran talks about prophets,
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says that we sent
salih
to his people Samud,
and we sent madyan to his people,
shra'il to his people, and we send this
prophet to his people this, and that Prophet
to his people that.
Then when he speaks about Muhammad salallahu alayhi
wa sallam, he said,
Tell people that I have been sent to
all of humanity.
Everyone
is included in the message of the Prophet
salallahu alayhi wa sallam. So the message of
Muhammad salallahu alaihi wa sallam is universal, and
it is suitable for all times and places.
Number 2, and Nabi salallam jalahmatal
lil'alameel.
He came as a mercy to the whole
world.
And this one Allah says in Surah Biyyah,
We have not sent you, Muhammad,
except as a mercy to the whole world.
So when you look at the sharia of
Muhammad
it is characterized
by mercy
and rahmah, and benefit to people,
and wisdom behind the sunnah or the sharia
of Muhammad
Now when you look at other codes of
law, they're characterized
by what? Desire,
and number 2, interest.
Whatever generates money, this is what I'm gonna
do regardless of what their religion says. So
say for example, if all other religions, if
the Quran and if the Bible says the
pork is haram,
so from a Muslim perspective it is haram
for me, I'm not gonna do it. It
doesn't matter if it makes money, it doesn't
make money. It's haram, end of story, I'm
not gonna do it. But in other codes
of law,
Yaz in their law or in their religion
it says it's haram to eat pork,
and I was talking to a priest, and
I'm telling him the Jews don't eat pork,
Muslims don't eat pork, how come the Christians
Othala 'Isa alaihi salaam, Musa, Noah, Ibrahim, all
the prophets, none of them ever eat pork.
How come that the majority of you guys
eat pork? And he said, we we do
it purely for economic reasons because it's cheap,
we make money out of it, so khalas,
we forget about the religion for this particular
one, and we're going to eat pork. So
this is the main reason.
Also when you look at Muhammad salasam, to
show you the power
of his words,
and the weight of his teachings.
I'm gonna take you back in 19 in
the 19 twenties, in the 19 thirties in
the US, just across the border
from Niagara Falls in New York and other
places in the US.
Alcohol was banned
around the Great Depression,
purely for economic reasons.
Explosions happened
in the brewing houses, and people lost their
lives, so they wanted to stop alcohol making
and distribution.
It didn't work.
For many years, people were not willing to
comply.
1,000,000 of dollars were paid in fines,
and thousands of people ended up in jail
because they didn't want to comply with the
law.
Now if you look at the Muslim woman,
I'm talking about the US government
with all the laws, and the Supreme Court,
and all these
government institutions, they were not able to stop
people from drinking and from making alcohol.
You look at the sunnah of Muhammad
He was one man living in the desert
1500 years ago. He didn't have no PhDs,
no masters, nothing.
He said, don't drink alcohol.
1,700,000,000
Muslims today don't drink alcohol because of his
words.
They have the power, and he has the
authority to stop us from doing this. Why?
Because we know,
as he said in authentic ahadith,
anything that is healthy,
anything that is pure, anything that is good
for you, I have told you to do.
Anything that is harmful,
unhealthy, that is not good for you, I
told you to avoid.
So he is not driven by interest or
desire, he is driven by wisdom
and mercy. And this is why we obey
him and we listen to him.
But as for the other codes of law,
they change the laws all the time.
Marijuana is illegal.
There's benefit in marijuana
is legal.
Abortion is illegal. Now abortion is becoming legal.
So it is driven by desire and by
interest. Whatever makes money becomes lawful and legal.
Whatever doesn't make money is illegal.
But in Islam, what is halal is halal.
What is right is right always.
What is haram is haram, it always.
So if stealing is haram 1500 years ago,
it is still haram till this day.
Zina is haram with a Muslim, and it
is haram with a non Muslim. It doesn't
matter who you are dealing with or whoever
you are living or when you are living.
It is always haram because Allah subhanahu wa
ta'ala, what is right and what is wrong
for him are always haram or are always
haram for him. They don't change. But we
change our mind all the time,
even when it comes to constitutions.
1st amendment,
2nd amendment,
12th amendment. We change our mind all the
time because we come to a point where
we realize
that our laws are not working.
They're not perfect, and we keep changing them.
But in the Sharia,
the laws of Allah
the halal and haram are always halal or
haram because they came from Allah
the Creator. He gave us the manual, He
knows us better than we know ourselves.
Of course there are some exceptions in extreme
situations and in emergencies, but I'm talking about
the the the general law, they don't change
because they came from Hakim Alim.
They came from the most knowledgeable and the
most high and the most
wise, Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala.
So this is the universality and the mercy
of the sunnah or the Sharia of Muhammad
So he came as a mercy to Muslims,
a mercy to non Muslims,
and even a mercy to animals and birds
and insects. Everything in this world is the
subject of the mercy of Muhammad
So in the case of Muslims for example,
When you study the Sharia of the previous
nations, previous Ummah, like the Ummah of Musa
alaihis salam,
So if someone committed a major sin
in the previous Ummas,
what they did basically, they had to kill
themselves to purify themselves.
In our Umrah, if you did something wrong,
what do you do basically? You say, You
Allah forgive me with sincerity.
And if you are sincere,
Fa'ula ikayubatirullah,
we say, iaati mhasanat. In Surah 25,
not only will Allah
forgive you if you are sincere,
He will turn your evil deeds into good
deeds.
SubhanAllah, this is a great bonus from Allah
Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala.
We know that in the books of Tahara,
we studied
that
Musa alaihis salam,
Say for example,
So in Bani Israel, for example, if there
was an impurity on your clothes, say for
example, you are carrying your baby, or the
mother is nursing the baby, and the baby
leaped or urinated in your clothes. So in
Bani Israel, it'll be how to cut off
the garment or the clothes and patch it.
This is the only solution. In our room,
the Prophet
said, just clean it, wash it, and khalas.
It's clean.
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala makes it super easy
for you, and this is out of the
rahma of the Prophet Wa
yaabaahu anhu israhum wal akhlaallatikarat
alaihi. This is the description of the prophet
in Surah Araf, that he removes the shackles
and the burdens on our shoulders. He makes
things easier for us.
So this is part of the mercy and
the rahma of the Prophet to the Muslimeel.
He makes it easier for them. In rebadah
for example,
the most beautiful word or the dearest word
in the Quran to my heart is the
word
So, when Allah
says, You have to fast this way, or
make wudu this way, or pray this way,
or make Hajj this way,
then at the end of the ruling, and
He will say,
like, But if you are not able to
do it this way, I make it super
easy for you to do it this way.
So for example, if he says, Fasts in
the month of Ramadan.
Then he said, But if you are not
able,
except for those who are not able because
they're traveling, because they're sick, they're pregnant,
they don't have to do it this way,
they can do it that way. When he
talks about salah, you have to stand up
when you pray,
except those who have a back problem,
or they have the hospital for a surgery,
they can't pray this way, then it says
sit down,
lie down,
pray with your eyes. This is the shariat,
makes it easier for you,
and so on and so forth. When people,
when the prophet was doing Hajj with the
people, and they came and they said, You
Rasool Allah, we made a mistake.
We did this before that, and the Prophet
would say, ifarwala Haraj, no problem.
Surul yok.
Kwimasalane.
No problem. It's easy. Islam makes people's lives
easy,
but sometimes some of us
make it very difficult for everyone.
And the biggest mistake you can do as
a Muslim,
when you make things difficult for your people,
is when you try to be a better
Muslim than Muhammad
You can't.
There are some hadith, people come to Muhammad
and say, yeah Rasool Allah, what is the
ruling on this? And he'll say, it's halal,
no problem.
Now you ask someone with the shiyuf,
what is the rule? Haram.
Jahannam.
No, you can't. I'm telling you Mohammed said
it's okay, and you're telling me you can't.
You know, the biggest problem as a Muslim
is when you try to be a better
Muslim than Muhammad
You can't. He's the perfect Muslim, he's the
best. We walk in his footsteps.
So Muhammad
came as a mercy to Muslims. He came
also as a mercy to non Muslims.
The reason why the prophet was trying to
spread his word, and spread awareness of his
message, to protect people from going to Jahannam.
And we are told repeatedly in the Quran,
the prophet
is not getting a commission if you become
Muslim. He's not getting a He's not getting
paid, or he's not receiving
a check-in the mail for making dua to
you. His reward is from Allah.
He's not He doesn't want money from you.
He wants your safety. He wants your salvation
in Akhilah. That's all he wants from you.
So he came as al Ahmed to non
Muslims, and he was desperate making down for
everyone day and night. He was traveling north
and south,
east and west making down to people.
Just one word.
That's all he wanted
from people. Muhammad salallahu alaihi wa sallam. In
the Quran we read in surah 60 and
number 8.
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala does not forbid you
Muslims
from dealing kindly
and graciously
and fairly with non Muslims who have not
driven you out of your homes or persecuted
you because of your religion.
So be fair, and be just, and be
kind to them. It's an act of kindness.
And this is the way, and this is
what we read from the sunnah of Muhammad
that if someone
is fair to you and kind to you,
they're not fighting you, they're not killing you,
or driving you out of your homes, you
have to be good and kind to them.
Religion has nothing to do with it. It's
a human thing. It is not a religious
thing.
I always say before you become a good
Muslim,
you have to be a good human being
first.
Before you become a good human being,
or before you become a good Muslim, you
have to be a good human being first.
This is what Islam teaches.
And the Prophet
When the people of Mecca were trying to
attack him, and the other tribes, and Ehud
and the Isara,
they came to attack the Prophet
that through or would come that with his,
with that, the Prophet
would teach his Sahaba,
Go in the name of Allah Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala.
The
The Prophet
would give them the rules of engagement,
the etiquette of fighting
He would say, don't kill a woman, don't
kill a child,
don't kill an elderly person, or someone who
is dedicated to worship in their temple.
Don't cut down trees,
don't burn houses,
and don't kill animals.
This is the mercy of the prophet
He said, fight only against those who fight
and abuse you,
the combatants, those who attack you. But the
civilians,
don't attack them. And subhanahu wa Salamatirullah Ma'am
say, in the books of Sira, that the
total number of people who died in the
battles of Uhud and Badrin,
10 or 8 or 9 years of fighting
between Muslims and non Muslims,
the total number of people who were killed
from among Muslims and non Muslims at that
time,
the total is 400 people.
Almost 200 Muslims, 200 non Muslims. 400 people.
More than that died, people die on our
highways more than that number every single day.
When you look,
they say that when you look at the
number of people who took part in the
fight,
compared to those who actually died in these
wars, was 1.5%.
Because in many wars of the Prophet Sallallahu
Alaihi Wasallam, Musudu Hazraha, no one was killed.
The people of Makkah, their allies,
they dropped their weapons, and and ran away.
It's a win for the Muslims, and defeat
for the non Muslims. No one was killed.
But if you look at World War 2,
50 to 70,000,000
people were killed,
and the number of people who were killed,
talking about
the ratio of those who were actually taking
part in the fight, was 350%.
Because most of the people who were killed
in these wars till this day are civilians.
They are not combatants,
they are civilians.
Women, children, the elderly, they are killed. Because
when you drop a bomb, like on Hiroshima
and Nagasaki,
250,000
people were killed like this in one second.
You don't distinguish
between a kid,
a mother, an old man, a disabled person,
you just
carpet
bomb everyone and kill everyone.
And this even mercy in Islam when you
fight other people. There's this ruling in sharia
that was tied in the Hanafi Fakk a
long time ago, Fifa'i Al Shihab.
That if Muslims and non Muslims are fighting,
and the non Muslims took their own women
and children as human shields,
Muslims are not allowed to shoot.
Again,
they took their own women and children as
human shields,
Muslims are not allowed to shoot. Why? Because
you know that you are going to harm
civilians in the process, so you don't do
it. So this is the mercy of the
sharia.
Salallahu alaihi
wa
sallam.
The prophet salallahu alaihi wa sallam came as
a mercy to animals. We need an authentic
hadith that the Prophet SAW Alaihi Wasallam said
that someone will go to Jahannam
because they starved a cat to death.
And he said that a person will go
to Jannah because they were traveling in the
desert, and this person was thirsty, and he
gave water to a dog, and Allah will
give him to dinner.
The Prophet said you are not allowed to
kill an animal except for food or if
you defend yourself.
You go and shoot an animal, or kill
an animal just to eat,
or to protect yourself from a bear attack,
or someone something tried to attack you, you
protect yourself.
The prophet
said, You are not allowed to send animals
on each other.
Like in some sports, they send their roasters
or the dogs on each other, and they
fight to death. This is haram in Islam.
Who'll fight in Spain? Haram, 100%.
Because they don't eat it, they torture the
animal to death.
And the prophet
said, even when you kill an animal for
food,
you have to treat it with mercy.
You don't drag the animal, and push it,
and kick it, and you have to sharpen
your knife, and don't do it in front
of the animal, and don't kill an animal
in front of another animal, or in front
of other animals. This is from the mercy
of Islam, even to animals.
Abdulaz ibn Saud Radhullahaafi
Muslim Abi Daoud,
he said, We're traveling with the Prophet
Some of us saw a bird,
and he took the children, the chicks of
the bird,
and the bird was hovering
all the top around us, and the Prophet
saw that mother, and he said,
we never told him, but he said, Who
took the chick of that bird? It's an
authentic hadith in Muslim al Habidawood.
The Prophet
said,
Who
stressed out this bird by taking its chicks,
or
chicks, give her back her babies. And he
said, we return the babies to the mother,
we put them back in the nest.
From the lahmal of the Prophet
And in that same hadith,
Abu Lai ibn Masurad alaihu said,
we came across,
a ant colony,
the house where the ants live, and for
some reason some of us decided to burn
that colony, And the Prophet
was not happy with that, and he said,
don't do this again.
No one should torture
or kill something with fire except Allah Subhanahu
Wa Ta'ala, and this is in Akhirah only.
So don't do it. So the Prophet came
as a rahma to the whole world,
Alhamdulillah. Subhanahu
wa rahmatal lil'alamin.
InshaAllah, we'll continue talking about
the other characteristics of the Prophet in the
next next, Jum'ah InshaAllah.
Not 16th, the one after. Because next Jum'ah
InshaAllah will be given by doctor Shabeer Ali,
InshaAllah.
May Allah
bless him and his family, and give us
the benefit of his knowledge.
I'm gonna conclude with 2 announcements.
I know there is a lot of suffering
in the ummah,
and one of the qualities of the Prophet
that I recited in the ayah from the
end of Surah Tawbah,
hariyusun alaykum.
That the Prophet
was anxious for the well-being of the Ummah,
and he's concerned for our suffering.
So the Prophet was always concerned for people,
he was always making dua for them, and
he's always trying to help them. He was
one of the people, and he was always
there for the people,
to alleviate
their suffering.
We know that as we speak,
our brothers and sisters in Syria, especially Halab,
they're suffering right now. And it seems to
me, Wallahu Alaihi, that everyone
is turning their backs on them. In a
couple of weeks,
there will be fireworks in all Muslim countries.
Dubai, other places,
and every year. I'm not
criticizing the people of Emirates or anything, but
I'm just giving you an example. This is
the sad reality of our lives. They will
try to do the biggest fireworks in the
world.
Last year they did, or the year before
they
sent $500,000,000
up in the air in fireworks.
Last year 750,
1,000,000 went up the air, maybe this year
they will do a $1,000,000,000
in fireworks that will go up in the
air, and the people of Syria,
especially the people of Halab, as we speak,
and we have seen videos,
and we have heard stories, now they are
at a point where they eat grass,
and leaves, and incense.
This is the situation, and this is the
reality, the sad reality of the Ummah. So
We ask Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala to make
it easy for the people of Syria and
the people of Halab.
Allah
make it easy for them.
Remove the hardship and the difficulty from them,
You Rabbal Alameen. And forgive us for our
silence and inaction towards them, You Rabbal Alameen.
May Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala remove the hardship
and the difficulty from them. So remember them
in your dua, and if there is any
way you can reach out to a humanitarian
organization, a charity organization, you try to help
in any way, don't hesitate.
The second and last announcement for today,
we know that a few days ago,
or a couple of days ago,
there was a plane crash in Pakistan
that took the life
of almost 50 people,
including
a good brother,
brother Junaid Jamshid.
We know that in the 19 nineties and
early 2000,
he was active in the music industry,
and for some reason Allah
works in mysterious ways. He guided his heart
to practice Islam.
And back in 2004 he started to learn
about Muhammad salallahu alaihi wa sallam, about his
personality,
and about Islam, and he started to reach
out and travel the whole world to make
dua' to people.
He was not in need of fame, he
was not in need of money because he
was famous, and he was rich already.
And we can see the sincerity of his
actions.
So, couple of days ago there was a
plane crash, he died, and his wife, and
about 47 other people.
Small hadith from Muslim Imam Ahmad. And maybe
this hadith applies to brother Junaid
as a Haslul Khattim, Yaqul Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi
Wasallam.
In this authentic hadith in Muslim Imam Ahmad,
the prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam says, when Allah
loves someone, He will use them. So the
sahaba said, kaifa ista amir wuya Rasool Allah.
The sahaba said, how can Allah use us?
Because He loves us, You Rasool Allah. He
said,
Allah
Subhanahu
Wa Ta'ala will guide you to do something
good before you die, and Allah will seal
your life with this good deed.
