Mustafa Khattab – Mistranslated Verses Of The Quran Surah Yusuf Ayah 37

Assalamu alaykum. It's Surah Yusuf Ayah 37.

This passage in chapter 12, Surah Yusuf Joseph

talks about Yusuf alayhi salam being incarcerated and

2 people were put in jail with him.

They had dreams

and they told him their dreams and he

was going to give them the interpretation of

the dreams.

So, before he gave them the interpretation of

the dreams he said,

in this ayah 12:37,

he's not actually giving them the interpretation of

the dreams, he's actually giving them a proof

that he's able to interpret the dreams for

them. He says, as a proof that I'm

able to give you the right interpretation,

he says, before the next meal comes to

you, I will tell you what it is

before it is served to you. So, he's

talking about,

foretelling,

what kind of food they are going to

eat before they actually receive the food. So,

whether they're going to receive biryani or something

else or fruit, he was going to tell

them, you are going to eat this food

2, 3 hours before the food is served.

So, this is a sign, this is a

proof that he actually knows,

he has some special knowledge that Allah has

given him and he was not actually telling

them before the next meal comes, I'm going

to tell you the interpretation of your dreams.

This is something totally,

different. So this is the misunderstanding

of the verse. Before the next meal comes

to you, I will tell you the interpretation

of the dream. Thank you.
