Mustafa Khattab – Lessons From Prophet Muhammad
AI: Summary ©
The Prophetiter's mission is to protect and make life easier for people, and he is a mercy to men and women. The Prophet's mission is to make Shafa'ah for those who have been to J morning. The importance of remembering things from 15-20 years ago and not just giving second chances is emphasized. The importance of helping people affected by the virus, particularly those with bleeding and other conditions, is emphasized. The Prophet's teachings and salallahu alaihi wa sallam's actions during the pandemic are also discussed. The importance of helping those affected by the virus to bring their garbage and money to help others is emphasized.
AI: Summary ©
I bear witness that there is none worthy
of our worship except Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala.
And I bear witness that Muhammad Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala Peace be upon him is the seal
of the prophets and the final messenger
to all of humanity.
Whoever Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala guides there is
none to misguide and whoever Allah Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala leaves to stray there is none to
guide aright.
So over the last few Khutbas throughout this
month, we have been talking about
that we can follow. Because this is the
purpose of the mission of the Prophet SAW
Alaihi Wasallam that we walk in His footsteps
and we always repeat the ayah from Surah
Hazal, la khadikar lakmufi Rasool Allahahu wa'alahaassal.
In the example,
the character of the Prophet SAW Alaihi Wasallam,
you Muslims and humanity by extension,
there is a role model
and an excellent example in the personality of
Muhammad
of Muhammad
So we spoke about some of the,
characteristics of the,
personality of the Prophet I
mentioned that,
unlike the rest of prophets,
the Prophet
SAWHSAW came for everyone. He came for humanity.
And this is why in the Quran when
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala,
speaks about Muhammad SAWHSAW.
To tell people something he would say, not
You Kalmi. My people, like other prophets, like
Salih and Musa and the rest of the
prophets, they say You Kalmi. All my people,
my group.
But in the case of the prophet salallahu
alayhi wa sallam, Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala told
him to say,
All humanity,
all people at large.
So the Prophet SAWH
came for everyone,
and we mentioned that the Prophet SAWH came
as a mercy to everyone.
He came as a mercy to Muslims, as
Allah says in the Quran,
We have not sent you Muhammad
except as a mercy for all the world.
For Muslims, the Prophet salallahu alaihi wa sallam
came to make things easy for people.
And for non Muslims, the Prophet salallahu alaihi
wa sallam came to provide a way of
salvation so everyone would go to Jannah.
He doesn't want people to go to jahannam,
and this is explained in many hadith, the
Prophet said,
my example and the example of people
is like someone who lit a fire, so
now the insects, and the crickets, and
the moths, and the butterfly, everything is coming
towards the fire, and I'm standing there trying
to protect you from the fire, but some
of you still
push through and they go to the fire.
So his mission is to protect people and
make life easier for them.
So the Prophet SAW Alaihi Wasallam came as
a mercy to men and women,
children.
Rahma tanelellah salallahu alaihi wa sallam, Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala al sufuhu al qurabi al nahu
bill mumineenalahu
for Rahim. One of the qualities of the
Prophet
is that he came as a grace and
a mercy to the believers.
He's gracious and merciful to the believers.
Even on the Day of Judgment,
when everyone is running around,
and saying nafsi nafsi,
even prophets will say the same thing,
the Prophet salAllahu alaihi wa sallam is the
only one who will stand up and say,
Umati, Umati.
Even on the Day of Judgment, he wants
to save people.
He wants it to be with him in
Jannah, so he's gonna stand up and make
Shafa'ah for people.
There are different,
places in Ahura where the Prophet would make
Shafa'ah. It is not just one, there are
several Shafa'ah
that the Prophet
will do in the Day of Judgment. The
first one, and this is probably the most
important one, what they call Shafa'at
Uma'aawil Maqaril Mahmood.
This, special status that the Prophet will get
on the Day of Judgment, and this is
mentioned in Bukhari and Muslim other books of
hadith.
The people would be standing for judgment for
50 1000 years, as mentioned in the hadith.
They'll be standing, the sun will be close
to their heads,
and people will be suffering for a long
time, 50000 years. SubhanAllah.
And the Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam says that
the 50000 years, that will be the length
of the standing for the kuffar.
But for our believer, the 50000
years will pass like the time you spent
in salah, like 5, 7 minutes. This is
the time it will be for you on
the Day of Judgment. It will be very
easy for you.
We call it the relativity of time. For
someone it's very long, and for some other
people it's very short.
Like say for example, if someone goes to,
to jail or they get in trouble, the
time goes very slowly.
Like, if they stay one day, it goes
by like 1 month.
And if someone goes to visit like his,
future fiance for example, they stay for 10
hours and for them it's just like 5
minutes.
The relativity of time. So for the believers
the standing will be very short and for
the kufar it will be very long.
So everyone eventually will come, and they say,
You Allah, we want to move
out from this place, Adul Mehsar. Even if
we go to Jahannam, it doesn't matter. We
just want to move out of here.
So the people will go to the different
prophets starting with Adam,
then the other prophets Musa, Aissa, Nur, Ibrahim,
everyone will say, nafsi, nafsi, I can't do
it. So eventually in this hadith al Bukhari
and Muslim, they will go to Muhammad SAW,
and he will make Shafa'ah
for the judgment to begin.
The second type of Shafa'ah, Shafa'atin Nabi'us Salallam
lil mumineenaliyahkurujannah.
So in Sahih Muslim, the Prophet
will go to Jannah after judgment
and he will open the gates
and the keeper will say, Who are you?
And the keeper will say, I'm Muhammad.
So the keeper will say, Biqal Umir Tu
Falaftahu li ahadin kablak. I have been commanded
not to open the gates of Jannah to
anyone before you and your Ummah. So the
Prophet
will take his Umla and go inside.
The third type of Shafa'ah, Shafa'ah can Nabi'us
Some
believers
will deserve to go to Jahannam because their
evil deeds are a little bit more than
their good deeds.
So the Prophet will
make Shafa'ah, so they don't go to Jahannam.
Out of mercy for them, and Allah will
accept his Shafa'ah, they'll go to Jannah.
The Prophet
will make a 4th Shafa'ah
for those who have been to Jahanla for
punishment, it depends
on their crime,
stealing, theft, zina, this, that. But they didn't
make tawba before their death, so they would
get a whooping in Jahannam,
and eventually the Prophet SAW Hassan will make
Shafa'ah for them to get out of Jannah,
and there are some beautiful Hadith
about the last person
from Muslims who would get out of Jahannam,
and how much Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala will
give him in Jannah.
Beautiful ahadith. But this is out of the
mercy of the Prophet SAW, and he cares
about people in Adfirah as much as he
cares about them in this dunya.
Another example from the Seerah of the Prophet
SAWS-eleven,
and this is something we really should be
doing in our lives here,
is that we should try to uplift people,
and we should make them feel good about
themselves. Because most of the time, we are
critical, we are very judgmental, and we make
people's lives
very difficult.
But the Prophet was not judgmental,
because he knew,
and this SubhanAllah comes like
news,
for some of you, we don't realize that
all the Sahaba
were new Muslims. They took Shahada, they were
new Muslims, they were not born and raised
Muslim. Right?
So this is the only generation of Muslims
who took Shahada at the time of the
Prophet SAW.
We understand
that
some Sahaba like Abu Bakr and Uthman and
Ali radhiallahu
anhu, they came from righteous backgrounds. They were
good people all the time even before Islam.
They never made a salat to an idol,
they never committed zina, they never drank alcohol,
they never ate pork, nothing.
But some of the sahaba, they did all
these things before Islam.
And the prophet shalazhi wa sallam didn't judge
them or reject them when they took shahada.
Right? So some of them did horrible things,
and the Prophet Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam as
soon as they said La ilaha illallah Muhammad
Rasulahi accepted them.
And he tried to uplift them, and raise
their iman, and guide them to the right
way. He didn't say, oh, you were drinking
alcohol before Islam, go home.
You were a chauffeth
before Islam, go home.
We do this thing.
When someone, for example, came out of jail
and a lot of people take shahada in
prison.
I
met brother Ibrahim Downey
a few weeks ago, and and he always
goes to jail, and to give Dawah, and
to give books of the clear Quran in
jail, and he says that people take Shahada,
in jail all the time. That day when
he visited, 2 people took Shahada that day.
So when some law like this comes out
and they took shahada,
in many Muslim communities we don't accept them.
You are a thief, you are in jail.
Yusuf Alaihi Salam was in jail. So what?
Musa alaihis salam killed a man. So what?
Ibrahim alaihis salam was rejected by people and
they didn't like him. So what? Because he
was on the truth, he was on the
haqq. People didn't like him.
So we shouldn't be judgmental, we should always
give second chances, and this is what the
prophet always
did.
Even in our daily
actions or when we deal with each other,
we try to remember things from like 15,
20 years, like especially husbands and wives. You
know?
You burned the food 15 years ago,
you came late from work, I wanted to
go to my mom's house, you said no.
How can I forgive you? This is like
So people always,
Yeah Ali, they they put each other down,
and this is something that the Prophet salallahu
alaihi wa sallam didn't do, he was always
accepting.
Yeah. And he had done on the way
to Madinah when he was making Hijrah,
In sub books of Seer, the Prophet
made dawah to 2 chores, 2 thieves,
erses. And they took shahara on the spot,
and the Prophet
said, Man antumah,
what's your name? And they said, nahul mumhanam.
The Prophet said,
they said, we are the disgraced ones, because
we're thieves. And the Prophet
said, no. From now on, and 2mul akramal.
Once you took shahal, and now you are
the honorable ones. Because Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala
elevated you by Islam.
So he honored people, and he made them
feel good about themselves.
When he said about Ali radiAllahu anhu,
ladan, o attarbayatah
li'ajulin yuhhibu Allaha Rasoolah.
Tomorrow I'm gonna give the banner to a
man who loves Allah and his Prophet.
And he gave it to Ali radiAllahu anhu.
1 of the sahaba, he did something wrong,
and the people were not happy with him,
they were punishing him with their clothes, and
you know.
And one of them cursed him, and the
prophet said don't curse him, don't support shaitan
against your brother, don't curse him, don't say
la ana ola, may Allah curse him or
condemn him because he loves Allah, don't curse
him. He's a good person, but he is
a good Muslim, but he's a weak human
being. So he should make the distinction between
the 2.
When the Prophet
saw Umar radiAllahu going for Umrah, and the
Prophet said, Lat and Salaam al Salihidu Aalik.
And the Prophet said to Umar radiAllahu,
he was going for Umrah, and the Prophet
said to Umar, please don't forget to make
dua for us.
So Umar radhiallahu said, who am I to
make dua for Rasulullah? He made me like,
he made me feel very special about myself,
and he said this word from the Prophet
shalallahu alaihi wa sallam is better for me
than the riches of this whole world.
Salim,
Mawlaihi
Fahefa.
He used to be a slave, and he
was a youth.
14, 15, 16 years old.
The Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam was passing by
1 night, and he heard Salim, a youth
who used to be a slave, and the
Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam heard him recite the
Quran at night, and he had a beautiful
voice. Fakalalawun
Nabi Saallahu alaihi
al lavijahalafi
umati minhu a misluk. He says, I praise
Allah
for making someone like you in my ummah.
In other words, I'm proud that I have
someone like you in my Umma.
I'm proud of you. The prophet salallahu alaihi
wa sallam telling a youth, who used to
be a slave, I'm proud that I have
someone like you in my Umma.
Right? Now imagine if you go home and
you tell your wife, I'm proud that you're
my wife. Or you tell your husband, I'm
proud you're my husband. Or your kids, I'm
proud you're my kids. You make them feel
good about themselves.
And this is something, subhanAllah.
Good people put put other people down. I
mean bad people put other people down. And
good people they uplift other people.
There are a couple of good examples in
the Quran.
Musa alaihis salam he was talking to Allah,
he said, Wa akhiihaa'runu
waafsakhum
minni ilisana. My brother
is more eloquent than me. My brother is
better than me in speech.
He's uplifting his brother.
But Shaitan when he was talking about Adam
he
And this is something that the Prophet did
all the time. They tried to make people
feel positive
about themselves.
We should learn from that.
Number 3,
And Nabi
was asked
about something, he never said no. Never. You
will never find it in any book of
Seerah that someone came to the prophet asking
for food or help of any kind, and
the Prophet would say no. It never happened.
The Prophet
said, ever said no,
except in Tasha'ab when he said, La ilaha
illallah. No God except Allah. This is the
only no he made.
But otherwise the Prophet was very generous.
He would help people financially, physically, giving them
advice,
and so on and so forth. He he
would try to help as best as he
can. And he said,
that the most beloved people to Allah are
those who are most beneficial to others. And
the best you can do to other people
is when
you help them, and you put a smile
on their face, and when you remove a
difficulty from them.
This is the shared humanity we have, we
try to make things easy for each other.
There are so many hadith, I'll just share
a couple of them with you because of
the time
in the Bukhari and other books of hadith,
when you know the story, the Prophet salallahu
alayhi wa sallam didn't have a good thought
like this to wait for Jum'ah to receive
delegations.
A woman made one for him,
but he didn't have a nice like
Avaya or something like this,
something presentable, he didn't have. So this lady
made it for him, so the Prophet Sallallahu
Alaihi Wasallam put it on for Jumah, first
time, he came out and he gave a
very nice Hudba.
So after Khutba wanted the Sahaba said, Yeah
Rasool Allah,
I like it, give it to me.
So the Prophet took it off, and he
gave it to him. Then the Prophet
left to his house, the other Sahaba came
to the Sahabi and they said, Okay. What's
wrong with you? Aqizat koi mushkalein? Ishin mushkalein?
Tell them? Finally when the Prophet
got something nice, you just take it from
him. The the first day he wears something
presentable, you take it, what's wrong with you?
He says, wallahi ma'atu an albisaha,
walakinaaatu
ant tafoona kafanali.
He said, I didn't want it just as
a thaw, I just wanted it to keep
it, so when I die I'm going to
use it as a kafan,
so this would be shafa'ah for me in
the grave.
Fakalat kafan Allahu. Then when he died, many
years later he used it as a kafan.
So the Prophet never said no.
So this is why when someone comes to
you, and they are desperate,
you either help them financially, or physically help
them with something.
If you can't, if you don't have the
resources,
at least give them a good advice,
so you make life easier for them. Because
words are for free. You don't pay taxes
for giving advice. Right? When you tell someone
how to do something in the right way,
and you give them some guidance, you don't
pay taxes for them. So why do you
give,
advice from people?
So the Prophet was always trying to help
and make people's lives easy.
Another example,
This man,
which is a very unique
character in the books of Sira.
He used to make the Prophet
laugh. In difficult times, in very,
miserable situations, and Anu Aiman would come and
he would make the Prophet
smile.
Hadith.
So the prophet
said, this man who used to make me
laugh in dunya, on the Day of Judgment
when Allah raised him from the dead, he
would be smiling and laughing.
On the Day of Judgment, because he used
to make me laugh. So this is something
we can learn from, if you see someone
in a difficulty,
someone who's not having a good day, try
to make things easy for them, put a
smile on their face. And this is something
an Naiman did for the Prophet
So one day there are so many authentic
stories about Al Naiman,
and the practical jokes he played with the
Prophet in the Sahaba.
So, in one of these hadith Al Naiman,
there was a man,
he used to come, a vendor, he used
to come to Madinah bring
like taboos, and we know from some traditions
that the Prophet SAW Alaihi Wasallam loved,
watermelons. This is what we hear from stories,
and, he used to love zucchini and squash,
from salve hadith.
But tarbu is a warah melon the Prophet
loved. This is something he loved. So when
this man
came to Madinah,
a vendor, and he had some watermelons or
some fruit,
then Anno Aiman went to him, and he
said, okay, give me all the fruits you
have. He said, okay, no problem. Queen was
only, sorry to you. Then,
Anno Eman took all the produce,
he took him to the Masjid, and he
said to everyone,
eat
Hadiyah. This is a gift, Ikram, eat. And
the Prophet SAW wasalam was there, and everyone
ate.
Then after they finished, the man said, Okay,
can I give you the receipt?
Who's gonna pay? So the man said, Have
the yat fawra, and the Biyyah SAW wasalam
will pay. So the Prophet said, I thought
you said it's a gift, it's aqram for
you. He said, Yes, it's a gift from
me, but I never said I'm gonna pay,
you're a paint. So the Prophet smiled and
he paint. No problem.
The Prophet said,
Well I didn't ask for this, I didn't
make the order, I No. Take him or
khalas.
Keep him in the kitchen to wash dishes
or to sweep the floor, bath the floor.
No. He paid.
Because the Prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam was
trying to make it easy for everyone and
he took it easy.
He took it easy with his sahaba and
we should take it easy with each other.
That's Allah Subhanahu
Wa Ta'ala.
So this is the last
example that I'm going to give from the
life of the Prophet SAW Alaihi Wasallam for
this Khubba.
The Prophet SAW Alaihi Wasallam cared about people.
He was one of them.
He was not their master, he was not
their king, he was not their sultan, he
was one of them.
He was like everyone else.
And this is why the sahaba loved them.
When it was like in in the battlefield,
some of them would sacrifice their lives to
protect him because he was one of them.
And number some of our rulers, Hakam of
our time, and the fierce of the battlefield,
they leave them alone.
Right? Because they love them just for the
money.
They pay check at the end of the
month, but they don't like the person. He's
not one of them.
He treats them like his slaves. But the
Prophet shalallahu alaihi wa sallam was one of
the people, and he cared about their suffering,
he cared about their well-being.
And this is what
Allah says in Quran.
Allah says that, He is concerned
by your suffering,
and He is all about what He cares
about is your well-being, He wants you to
live a good life, He doesn't want you
to suffer,
and He is gracious and merciful to the
believers.
So the Prophet
cared about all Muslims.
Sayyid Muslim,
when the Prophet
made Hijra from Mecca to Madinah, some of
the Sahaba
from Mecca couldn't make it to Madinah. The
people of Mecca stopped them, they couldn't go,
Or they didn't have the means of transportation,
they couldn't leave.
They had some conditions, they couldn't leave. And
for a whole month,
the Prophet
in every salah was making Kunut, making Dua
for Allah, for these people in Mecca.
5 daily namaz,
for a whole month, until Allah Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala made it easy for them to make
hijrah from Makkah to Madinah. He cared about
them.
The Prophet
went, al Muslimeel bin muda,
hadith al Bukhara a Muslim.
The refugees, they came as refugees to the
Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam in Madinah,
they had nothing on their backs.
No food in their bellies, no clothes on
their backs, no money in their pockets,
no
credit in their bank account, nothing.
Nothing. Refugees.
So they came to the Prophet
in Madina,
So everyone rushed to the masjid.
And the Prophet SAW said, Look at your
brothers and sisters, they are refugees!
You have to help them!
So the Prophet SAW brought food, and he
brought money, and the Sahaba did the same
thing, And the food was piling, and the
money was piling, and the clothes were piling,
and the people took whatever they wanted.
And the prophet
felt sorry for the refugees, and for the
people, and he was trying to help him
as much as he could.
Yazoo are trying to help now,
when refugees come from Iraq, or Syria, or
Halab, or from other places, and subhanAllah, Muslims
are suffering in most countries of the world,
Muslims are suffering. This is where you have
the biggest number of refugees, the biggest number
of orphans and widows, Muslims.
It's the cheapest blood in the world.
If if the kids in Syria, or the
women in Syria, or the men in Syria,
they were bleeding oil,
while not everyone would rush to help them.
The first would be America, and, the UK,
and other countries.
But the problem is they bleed blood, not
oil. This is why a lot of people
don't care. Right?
So this is the problem. Even those who
try to help, when we make announcements in
masjids and other places,
we need help for the refugees, let's go
out and help them.
Everyone, mashallah, they bring their garbage, and all
this stuff they don't need. Clothes they kept
from
like World War 2. Stuff they don't need,
what
can I say about it? You have to
give the best,
because this is not a beggar, this is
not someone who's asking for something, he's your
guest, and you could be in their place
one day.
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala honored you in this
place, and He put you in a position
to help.
If you don't help, then Allah subhanahu wa
ta'ala will replace you with someone who will.
So you should always keep this in your
mind, give them the best.
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala is telling us in
Surah Baqarah in the last 2, 3 pages,
when you give out something to help someone,
don't give them the junk, give them the
best.
Something you yourself would accept.
So,
in some other places at least you can
and you give something. I'm not saying all
of you, but
not necessarily in this message, but in other
places they just give, like, terrible stuff.
But at least they give. In some Muslim
countries,
I know that some countries are accepting, they
have been accepting refugees, Jordan, Lebanon,
Turkey, for example, and Canada, and some other
Muslim countries, but the majority
are no help whatsoever.
And in the media they attack them, they
smear them. Is this the way the prophet
would have reacted to refugees, and the people
who are suffering?
Wallahi, I make this assumption,
and I know that the Prophet salallahu alaihi
wa sallam would have done this,
if the Prophet salallahu alaihi wa sallam came
to us today, and he sees the suffering
of the Palestinians, and the Syrians, and the
Arabis, and the Yemenis, and the Kashmiris, and
all the Muslims are suffering,
I assume that he would just take the
Golden Gate of the Kaaba, 30 kilograms of
gold, and he will sell it, and feed
the people, and will buy a, like a
piece of wood, and he will just put
it there.
This This is what the prophet would do.
Now, this last week, 7 days or 10
days,
one Muslim country bought the biggest
Christmas tree $11,000,000
Wallah. It's a lot of the news, I'm
not making this up. You can Google it.
In another week or so, they will have
the biggest
fireworks displayed in the world.
More than $500,000,000.
I'm not making this up, you can read
the news.
Right? So I'll make it to the Genesis,
world record, whatever. But again,
this is not the way the Prophet salallahu
alaihi wa sallam would have reacted. And, so
how the other thing?
Musaaba picked agmel taste.
They have these competitions
at this time,
when the people are suffering in the 100
of 1,000, people are dying, and the blood
is running
in the streets.
They have these competitions in some Muslim countries.
The competition of the most handsome goat,
with the most handshakes. I don't know what's
wrong with people.
I don't know about you, but this is
insane. This is crazy.
This is not how the Prophet salallahu alaihi
wa sallam would have reacted.
So we know better, and we should behave
better. So we look at the example of
the prophet salallahu alaihi wa sallam, and we
try to follow his example and help as
much as we can. We ask Allah Subhanahu
Wa Ta'ala to make it easy for our
brothers and sisters in Halab, and in Syria,
in Iraq, in Palestine, in Kashmir, and all
