I bear witness that there is none worthy
of our worship except Allah
And I bear witness that Muhammad
is the seal of the prophets and the
final messenger
to all humanity.
Whomever Allah
guides, there is none to His guide, and
whomever Allah believes to go astray,
there is none to guide.
So today, inshallah, we'll talk about some of
the mistakes
that some people do on the day of
Jum'ah, when they come to the footbath or
salat of Jum'ah.
We will not talk about recommended things
or the things that the scholars disagree on
because it's
it's disagreed on. But we will talk about
pure mistakes that everyone
knows, everyone with common sense knows that these
things are wrong.
So before we start, we'll give just one
hadith about the virtue, the greatness of the
day of Jum'ah. It is the best day.
So the prophet
says in an authentic hadith narrated in Sahih
Muslim by Abu Bulaire that
that the prophet says
that the best
day on which
the sun has ever shined is the day
of Jummah.
On this day, Adam alaihi salaam was created.
On this day, he was admitted to Jannah.
On this day, he got out of Jannah.
And the Day of Judgment, the final hour,
will begin on the Day of Jannah. It's
a very important day.
So Muslims are classified into 2 groups as
far
as Salatul Jum'ah is concerned.
Number 1, those who never come,
and this is a big number of people,
and those who do come, and this is
also a sizable, a big number.
So the people who don't come are classified
into 2 groups. The first group, those who
don't come for a legitimate
excuse.
They are too old, they can't walk,
or they have a contagious
illness,
or a viral,
condition, if they come, they will spread the
illness in the Masjid.
And when people see them, they don't feel
comfortable sitting next to them. People sneezing, they
have bird flu, wild flu, and all these
kinds of flu.
So it is better for them to stay
home because they are too sick and they
will spread the illness to other people.
Or if someone can't move because
they have broken legs, a broken neck, someone
was run over by a truck, they can't
move, so
how can they come? It is not possible
for them to come. Or if someone is
a traveler,
and there's no Masjid in the area, so
in these all these cases, they pray for
Raq as Duku, they don't have to come.
And Allah
says in Surat Al Baqarah in the Mas'a'id
A'id that Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala does not
entitle anyone
to do anything beyond their means.
So this is the first group.
So those who don't come,
either because they are shopping or because they
can't, you know, they have to do some
homework or something, they play soccer, they play
video games, they don't have time to come
to Jummah, man. They they're not free, they
are busy.
And everyone knows that the Aamat work is
Ibad, okay, and they have a pure heart,
mashaAllah, they don't have to come to Jum'ah.
Plus, everything the imam says in the football,
we already know. So why should we go
to Jum'ah?
So the Prophet
says in an authentic hadith that if someone
does not come to Jum'ah,
3 Jum'ahs,
with no legitimate
excuse like the ones we mentioned, Allah Subhanahu
Wa Ta'ala will line this person among the
hypocrites, Munafar.
The Prophet also says, if someone does not
come to Jum'ah for 3 times,
with no legitimate
excuse, taking Jum'ah lightly, then Allah
will seal their hearts.
So their hearts will be basically
like will be like a glass that is
put upside down. No matter how you put
iman or nasiyyah or anything with it, nothing
will go in because it's upside down. The
heart is sealed. Nothing is going inside.
If you give them advice, they will never
listen to you.
The second group are those who do come
to Jum'ah, and they are also classified into
2 groups.
Those who follow the adab of Jum'ah, the
etiquettes of Jum'ah,
and the second group are those who miss
some of the adab or they long give
or pay attention to adab altogether.
With regard to the first group, and they
are the majority,
people follow the adab of Jum'ah,
including
purifying yourself,
alhamdulillah, looking good for Jum'ah and coming early
and paying attention during the Khutbah.
And the reward for this is mentioned in
an authentic hadith narrated by Aus ibn Aus
in Sahih Atul Midi. The prophet
says that whoever purifies himself properly
on the day of Juhr,
then comes early to Khutbah and to salah,
then sits close to the imam and pay
his very
attentive or pay his attention to everything the
imam says, then this person will get for
every step that he or she takes to
the masjid, the reward of a whole year,
standing in prayer during the night and praying
during the day.
Standing prayer at night and fasting during the
day, fasting
and prayer at night.
So this is the reward, and it's an
authentic hadith.
With regard to the second group, those who
missed some of the adaab or those who
do some of the mistakes, we'll mention 7
of them very quick because of the time,
then we may continue some other time, inshallah.
The first one,
So the first mistake, some people, alhamdulillah, they
do come early to Jummah,
but to kill the time, they talk about
different things. They don't invest their time in
recite the Quran or making liquor or making
salah. No. They kill the time. But, of
course, the first thing they always talk about
is politics,
and one thing will lead to the other.
Then eventually, they will backbite other people. Oh,
look about this guy. Look how tall he
is. Look at his nose. He got long
ears. He looks like shrimp, and all these
things.
So backbiting is not acceptable. If you do
come early, Alhamdulillah,
thank Allah for making it easy for you
to come early, but don't backbite other people.
Think about yourself. Reflect on your own shortcomings
and mistakes.
And some of the scholars say, if I
think and if I reflect on my own
mistakes and defects and shortcomings,
I will never have time to think about
other people.
So the second type of people are those
who come very late for Jum'ah.
They miss coming early to Salah, they come
late for Jum'ah, and you get a reward
for coming early. Number 2, they miss the
football. They don't listen to the football. And
number 3, some people even will lie, in
some cases, they come after the football, after
the salah, to salat al Jum'ah. So why
are you coming?
Why are you coming? If you if you
are not coming early, if you're not coming
to football, if you're not coming to salah,
why are you coming?
So you have to come, otherwise, you will
be missing a lot of rewards.
The third mistake, some people, when they come
late,
of course, there's no spot for them to
park their car. So the easiest thing to
do is to park your car anywhere. You
just literally throw your car anywhere,
blocking other people, thinking that they don't mind.
Actually, they do. Oh, you park your car
in front of the fire hydrant,
and some people think that the government doesn't
mind. Actually, it does. So you have to
come early, at least, to be able to
park your car properly.
And don't park in front of other neighbors,
non Muslim neighbors, because some of them complain.
Why are these people parking in my, you
know, in front of my house? So come
early for this.
So some brothers, when they come late,
and, of course, they don't find a good
spot
to see or hear the imam from the
back,
or the imam is too short, they can't
see him properly, they have to come to
the front, to the the first row, so
they can't get a good look at the
imam. And, of course, they have to walk
with people's necks
necks. They have to step over
the rows and the lights to sit in
the front just because they love the imam
so much.
If you love the imam so much, please
come early.
One day, the prophet was given foodba. Someone
came at the end of the foodba, and
he didn't sit in the back, he came
all the way to the front. So the
prophet has reported that Sahih Khajama
said, Sit down wherever you are. You came
late, and you are bothering people. You're harming
people, stepping on their necks, and this is
not acceptable.
So the 5th type
is people who, when they come late, of
course,
when they see other people that they haven't
seen, for example, in a few hours or
in 2 days,
they shake their hands, they give them hugs,
they kiss them, how are you doing, ma'am,
masha Allah, my brother from another mother. What?
What's going on? How are things?
And they talk about different things. How's your
dad? Did he come back from the hospital?
How about your mom? Did they did she
come back from the Hajj? How about your
neighbor? Did he come out of jail, man?
And they started to talk about side talks,
and the imam is talking, man. And when
people remind them, listen to the Khutba,
they will say, oh, come on. We know
everything the imam says, so forget it.
Or some of the brothers, Wallahi, told me
that in the gym,
some brothers were sending text messages in the
khutbah.
This Khutbah is so boring. Lol, l o
l.
Oh, they're playing video games.
With the sisters, it's even worse. Some of
them, and this is from eyewitnesses,
they talk about different things. They start with,
what did you cook for dinner tonight?
And they talk about other ladies or they
start talking to their kids.
Come here. Go there. Do this. Don't do
this. And by the end of the food
bar, if you ask them what was the
topic of the food bar today,
not the details. You're just asking about the
topic.
They don't know. So we have to pay
attention to all these things.
Number 6.
Number 6. Some of the brothers, when they
come late,
they come after the imam raises his hand
from ruku in the second rakah. Pay attention,
they come after the imam raises his head
from ruku in the second rakah, or they
come in sujood in second rakah, or in
tashanhut in second rakah, and they just stand
up and pray 2 rakahs as if they
get early for juhah.
No. If you come anytime after the Imam
raises his head from the 2nd rakah, it
doesn't count as a Jummah for you, you
have to stand up and pray for rakat.
And this is a very common mistake.
Some people even come after Jum'ah, like, half
an hour after the imam is done, and
they just stand and they pray 2 rakats.
No. If you miss Jum'ah, you pray for
the prophet
says, whoever catches a rakah from Jum'ah, this
is counted as Jum'ah for them. But if
they miss Alaka, it is it is lower
for them.
To leave early right after salah. They are
the last to come, and they want to
be the first people to leave through the
door. So what they do, they rush to
get their shoes, and they start pushing people
and pushing their way through the crowd. And
I remember in July 1st,
some people had a, you know, they almost
started a fight because somebody was pushing them
to get out very quick. So be careful,
and, Alhamdulillah,
stick to these,
akhlaq or the adham of coming to Jum'ah,
And remember, the foodba lasts for 20 minutes.
10 minutes Arabic,
10 minutes English and Somali.
Then you have foodba in 5 or 7
minutes, so maximum is 25 minutes. So calculate
your time, you know that we start Jum'ah
at the time of Khadav for Jum'ah, then
after this, you have 25 minutes, then you
will you will be done. In 3rd in
in half an hour, everything is done.
Then, inshallah, try to come as early as
you can, take a shower, put your glasses
closed, put some oil and perfume,
and also pay attention to the imam speaks
and make for sure in the salah. This
is the the only way inshaAllah you can
get all these hasanat. That's Allah
subhanahu wa ta'ala.
