I bear witness that there is none worthy
of our worship except Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala.
And I bear witness that Muhammad salallahu alaihi
wa sallam, peace be upon him, is the
seal of the prophets and the final messenger
to all of
humanity. Whoever
Allah guides, there is none to misguide, and
whoever Allah
gives to stray, there is none to guide
aright.
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala,
So insha'Allah, in a few more days,
we'll receive a very special guest.
This guest comes only once a year.
It is the month of Ramadan, the month
of forgiveness, the month of the Quran. So
we ask Allah
to give us the life and to give
us the ability and the strength
to fast properly in this month to be
among those who will be given the great
reward of that month.
So InshaAllah,
in the next few Khudbas before the month
of Ramadan, we'll focus on how to maximize
your hasalat in this month, and how to
achieve the best rewards in this month. So
this will be the focus, insha'Allah.
Taan, we cannot talk about the month of
Ramadan,
and how to maximize
our hasalat in this month,
without talking about the sahabah of the Prophet
the companions of Muhammad because
they were the best among Muslims.
So if you want to do something,
to excel in something, or achieve something, you
have to look at the very best, and
copy their example.
So today, inshallah, we'll talk about the Sahaba
of the Prophet
and how they achieved this high status in
Islam.
Tamal
the question always comes to our minds,
are there any people among us who are
like Sahaba?
Can we be like them?
Because most of the time, we when we
listen to the Khutbas,
of course, the Khatib, they talk about the
Sahaba, they're the best and the finest, and
this is true.
And when it comes to us, we're miserable,
we're in the basement, there's nothing good about
us. But this is not true. There's something
good about us, and we'll cite examples from
the sunnah of the prophet salallahu alayhi wa
sallam,
to show you that there are very good
people among us, and there are people among
us who will be with Muhammad salallahu alayhi
wa sallam in Jannah,
based on the Hadith of the Prophet
Sallallahu
Alaihi
lalaramum,
ma'ruf and then the Sahaba cannot dismiss.
Fi Fudullah al Sahaba w fi aamlat Sahaba.
There are two levels among the Sahaba. Fudullah
al Sahaba
Taman marufinnu'afdalin
Nasba'ir Rasulullahasalalalbayt.
Fala yudalinin fishal name wafishafim
ahad.
So marad ahlulbayt yatilashriluasharim
majjandavuwafamaluwafmanu ala'al
So there are 2 levels among the Sahaba.
So the first type of Sahaba, these are
the most the foremost among the Sahaba, the
best and the finest of the Sahaba. And,
of course, the best people after Muhammad
are Adarbayt, the family of the prophet These
are are the best and the finest.
Then the tilsahaba
who received the news of Jannah, like Abu
Bakr, and Umar, and Umar, and Khalid, to
to the end of the list.
Then you have the, the people of Bethel.
These are among the finest and the best.
They're the people who pledge allegiance to the
Prophet
under the tree, al Khudaimiyyah.
So these are among the best of the
Sahaba of the Prophet Sahaba.
Then you have the average Sahaba.
Fahalminna
manudari bijmu'atulalumma
fudalaa sahabahfilf
al azaab
karulaa
khalas.
Innaaffi
minna manudari
bajmu'atali
lumaamat
sahabah.
Can we be like these 2 groups of
sahaba? They say the 1st group, the foremost
and the finest, like Anul Bayt, the 10
sahaba who got the news of Jannah, the
people of Badr, the people of Khudaybiyyah,
they say, sorry. You're gonna break your heart?
No one can reach the level
in Jannah or a reward. We can't. Khalas.
But as for the second group, the average
sahabah, yes, some of us can be in
the level in jannah and we can do
good things like them. And we'll give examples
inshallah.
But
collectively,
collectively,
the Sahaba of the prophet, the generation of
Muhammad,
they are the best generation among Muslims.
Taman, when Allah
speaks about the Sahaba in general, Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala says in the Quran that he
has given them Jannah, all of them. You
read in Surah Tawba aya number 100, Allah
subhanahu wa ta'ala said,
So in Surah Tawbah, Surah number 9, ayah
number 100, Allah
says, as for the foremost,
the first of the Muhajirun,
the immigrants from Makkah to Madinah, wal Ansar,
the helpers who sheltered and hosted them,
And those who follow them in goodness, Allah
is pleased with them, and they are pleased
with him. And Allah
has prepared for them gardens in Jannah, under
which rivers
flow, to stay there forever and ever, and
this is the ultimate,
triumph or success.
And the Prophet
says, khairu puruni karni thummaladeenaaruunam thummaladeenaaruunam thummaladeenaaruunam.
The
Prophet
says, the best and the finest among Muslims
are my generation,
the people of my time.
Then next to them, in goodness and in
status, are those who are after them. Then
those who are after them. So we're talking
about the sahabah collectively.
So the Prophet
meant the people of his time, and the
people of the time of Abu Bakr, and
the people of the time of Umar and
Uthman Ali radiaba'an. And so, haramah, when you
look at the word that the Prophet
chose, khayrul nasir karni,
the word karni in Arabic,
kaf,
ra, noon, you. And you look at the
names of as siddeep, it ends with a
kaf, karni.
Then Umar, his name ends with a ra,
karni.
Then Uthman ends with a Noon, then Ali
ends with a Yeah, Korni.
So even the word that the prophet
used refers to the people of his of
his generation.
Sahib, leh Sahaba tand Nabi salawalahu alaihi wa
sallam fought Luz Salawalahu alaihi wa sallam all
the time, they made huge sacrifices to support
him. You read about Abu Bakr and Ufnan.
The the great Sahaba, they sacrificed their time,
they sacrificed their money and their lives to
support Islam.
Walana faglubtazgiribin
ghay. But what makes us special
among Muslims is is that we believed in
Muhammad without
seeing him.
There's this hadith to Sahib Muslim.
The prophet
was with the Sahaba one day, and this
is authentic hadith, and authentic hadith is Sahib
Muslim. And the prophet said, I miss my
brothers. I wish I have seen my brothers.
So the Sahaba said,
alasnabi
hwanik? Are we not your brothers? So the
prophet
said, no. And to ashabi, you are my
companions,
my friends.
But ihwani, my brothers and sisters,
qaumunyahatulabadi,
yumminunlabi
walamiaroni.
And the prophet said, no. My brothers
and sisters are those who will come after
us,
and they will believe in me, in Muhammad
without seeing me. So they will believe with
their hearts,
not their eyes. You, Sahaba, you believe with
your eyes and your hearts, but then, these
people who come after us, they will only
believe with their hearts. So we're only talking
about those who people like us, who were
born and raised Muslim, and those who accepted
Islam. Alhamdulillah. Last week,
I gave shahada in this masjid to sister
Easter. Takbir.
Takbir.
Takbir.
So she is she is like us, she
is mentioned in the hadith of the prophet
that she accepted him and she believed in
him
without seeing him. So, masha Allah, yes, good
imam.
So
the Sahaba said, You Rasulullah, yes,
you haven't seen them, they haven't seen you,
but how will you be able to recognize
them on the day of judgment?
So the Sahaba said, how will you recognize
them on the day of judgment? People like
us,
we haven't seen them. He hasn't he hasn't
he hasn't
seen us. How will you recognize them? So
the prophet
said, on the day of judgment,
they will come on the day of judgment
with noor light on their faces because of
wudu.
So when you make wudu for salah, there
will be noor on your face, and this
is the way Muhammad salallahu alaihi wa sallam
will recognize you on the day of judgment.
So this is an example that there's something
good about us because we believed in Muhammad
salallahu alaihi wa sallam without seeing it. So
there's actually some goodness in us.
The Prophet says, my Ummah is like rain.
You don't know which is best, the beginning
of that rain or the end of that
rain. So the prophet
is saying, basically, in this authentic hadikh, there
is goodness in my ummah, at the beginning,
in the middle, at the end. So,
there are good people among us too, and
maybe inshallah in the future, we'll give some
examples from some excellent Muslims among us, inshallah.
Tayib,
as the prophet says, what is good about
us is that we believe in him without
seeing him,
without seeing his beautiful face, the nur on
his face,
without seeing his marjazat, his miracles,
without seeing the revelation of the Quran given
to him fresh from Jibril alaihis salam,
And without witnessing the iqram, the generosity of
Muhammad, salam, we'll give you some examples
to show you
why many people around the time of the
prophet, salam, were taking shahal.
You'll say, for example,
it's a great honor
to be living at the time of Muhammad
and just look at his face even once.
Yani, the people who saw the Prophet
even once for just 5 seconds, they are
called sahar.
Even if they traveled after and the prophet
passed away, they didn't see him again, they
are called Sahar.
Because he saw his face, and he saw
the light, the Noor, they slapped on the
face of the Prophet SAW ASALHAN. So in
this hadith in intermijiyal ibn Majah,
Abdullah ibn Salam, he was a Jewish rabbi,
a Jewish authority, a scholar.
So he said when the prophet
made his right to Madinah,
so I decided to go and take a
look at him. So when I went there,
there were thousands of people, so I pushed
my way through the crowd and I looked
at his face and I said, well, lie,
this is not the face of a liar,
because of the light on his face, the
charisma.
So he said, the first thing I heard
from Muhammad
was, oh, mankind,
spread peace,
feed the hungry and the homeless,
and keep and maintain
the bonds of,
family, the relationship of your families, honor your
family relations, and pray at night while people
are asleep. You will go to Jannah in
peace. This is the first hadith he reported
for Muhammad
Did you ever get the chance to look
at the face of Muhammad
before he became Muslim?
Of course not.
You believed because you have
iman in your heart.
Also,
some people accepted Islam because they saw the
Marjizah, the miracles of Muhammad, salalam, the splitting
of the moon Yeah. Multiplying the food and
the water. There are so many examples in
the hadith. There's no time to go into
details.
And the revelation of the Quran, the Marjizah,
and so on and so forth. Suraqa, you
know the history,
and so on and so forth. You look
at the example of Umayyad ibn Wa'ad.
He is someone who was one of the
biggest enemies of Islam at the time of
Muhammad,
that he saw a Marjisa,
a miracle, and he accepted Islam on the
spot.
So for example,
he said,
his son was taken captive,
He one day he was very stressed out.
He was miserable.
So he said, one day,
I sat with Safwan al Nu'mayyah
next to the Kaaba. Of course, the prophet
was in Madinah,
100 of miles far away,
and I was so stressed out because of
all the people who died in Bethirim because
his son was taken captive. He was miserable.
And he said to Safwan,
if it was not for my children, I
had little kids,
and if it was not for some deaths,
then I owe some people, I would just
go to Madinah and kill Muhammad.
And Umayyad said there was no one else
there, just me and Safwan.
So Safwan took advantage of my rage, and
he said, idham ilaynu wafturhu.
Auladakmaauladi
wadiyulukatlihand.
He said, don't worry about your kids, they
will be my kids, your debts, I'll pay
them. Don't worry, just go and kill him.
So he said, fahaqtu saifi
wawaba alayhis song, I took my sword, I
put poison on my sword, and I traveled
all the way to Madinah.
So when Umar ibn Khattar saw me, he
said, this man
came for no good. He's an evil man,
and he took him by his shoulder, and
he took him, escorted him all the way
to the prophet
Fatakallaman Nabi sahlamaha,
Umayrukhalmana
ataribik
khalashituliaseeraindaqum.
The prophet when he saw him, he said,
okay. Why are you here? Why did you
come from Makkah? He said, I came
for, my son who is captive with you.
Fafaral alaihi wa sallam bizduqlil Khawl. Mada jalavik.
Tell me the truth. Why are you here?
So, in this story, the Prophet SAWSAWAN said,
No, no, no, no. You are not here
for your son. A few days ago,
you sat by the Kaaba with Safwan, and
you told him, If it was not for
my kids and the debts, I'm gonna go
and kill Muhammad. So Safwan said, No, no,
no. I'll take care of your kids, I'll
pay off your debts, just go and kill
him, and Allah will protect me from you.
He told him to his face. So the
man was astonished.
He was stunned. He said, there was no
one there except for Safa'al and myself, and
Safa'al is in Mecca now. How do you
know about this? It should be a revelation
from Allah, and he took shahada on the
spot because he saw a Mujida, a miracle
in front of him.
And so on and so forth. There are
so many miracles, and so many people took
shahada because of these miracles.
Some people accepted Islam because of the iqram
of Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wa sallam. The prophet
sallallahu alaihi wa sallam was
generous.
Muhammad.
The prophet SAWSAWA SALAM according to the hadith,
he was the most generous of every all
people, and he was exceptionally generous in the
month of Ramadan.
So the prophet SAWSAWA SALAM was generous to
Muslims and non Muslims. We'll give an example.
So a woman insanih al Bukhari, made a
burr does something nice like this,
and she gave it to the prophet salaam.
He didn't have a cloak or a garment,
something presentable for khutbah and receiving delegations and
for een. So the prophet salaam took it,
and he was appreciated because he didn't have
something presentable.
So the Prophet SAW Alaihi Wasallam
he wore this cloak or a cloak or
garment, and he came out for Jumah Sukbah,
