A few days ago,
the weather started to get better,
and the people thought that the spring was
coming.
And this morning
at Fajr,
the white stuff was all over the place.
A lot of people were frustrated, and a
lot of people were unhappy.
Today, inshallah, we'll talk about happiness and how
to achieve
happiness in the life of the Muslim.
So today, inshallah, we'll talk about happiness and
how to achieve happiness in this life
and salvation
in the next life.
So there are different ways to achieve happiness
in this life. Some of them are acceptable,
some of them are not.
So some people find or seek happiness in
collecting money.
Some people find happiness in chasing women.
Some people find happiness in doing drugs
and drinking.
Some people find happiness in doing crazy stuff.
The other days I was reading
reading an article
about a Japanese guy who got married to
his pillow
officially.
And he said that made him happy.
The pill made him happy. Maybe because it
doesn't talk. He was happy with her as
a wife,
but that was crazy.
Some people find happiness when they see people
suffer.
When they see people dying and suffering and
miserable, they feel happy.
So these are the different ways.
So sometimes when you use money, for example,
you can use it the right way
or the wrong way.
So for example, if you use the money
to live a decent life,
to help other people who are less fortunate,
if you give Zakat, that will be a
source of happiness
and success in this life and in the
next life. But if you use it as
a means
to be arrogant, like Karim in the Quran,
or like the German billionaire,
Albert Merkel,
he killed himself back in 2009.
He had a $1,000,000,000,
but because of a bad economy, because of
the, financial crisis in the world,
He lost $2,000,000,000
so he still had $9,000,000,000
So he thought, what can I do, man,
with $9,000,000,000
He got so depressed, he threw himself under
the train?
Alhamdulillah, nothing happened to the train.
So this is one example. Or you can
use the money
and it will make you greedy.
No matter how much Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
gives you, you will always ask for more.
And they give the story of a king
who brought one man from his
country,
and he told him, what will make you
happy? He said, if I give money and
land, I'll be very happy.
So he said,
any distance you walk in my kingdom,
it will become yours. So when you reach
a certain distance, come back to me and
I'll give it to you.
So if he was living in Edmonton, he
walked all the way
to Calgary,
then he said, maybe I wanna go back,
then he said, no. I still can walk
a lot of them more.
He walked all the way to Saskatchewan.
Can I go back? No. I can walk
a little bit more.
Then he walked to Manitoba.
Can I walk back? No.
Go to Ontario.
Do I want to go back? No. Let's
go to Quebec.
He died on the way back. He didn't
get nothing because he was free. And I
think that's a good example.
So, these things
don't achieve happiness in this life if you
do them the wrong way. How can you
achieve happiness in this life? I'm gonna get
3 examples of how to achieve
happiness in this life,
then we will conclude
So the first thing that can lead you
to happiness in this life and success in
the next life is to be a servant
of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala. This is your
job in this life.
This is the main
job.
So to achieve happiness
in this life by being a servant of
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala,
you have to be a true servant of
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala. We read in the
Quran, in Suratul Islam that Allah Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala has honored man.
And the reason the scholars say, it's not
because man is beautiful because a peacock is
more colorful and colorful
and more beautiful than man. It is not
because
we are made because elephants and the blue
whale is much bigger than you. It's not
because you are tall
because giraffes are taller than you. It's not
because you are strong because lions are much
stronger than you. It is because you choose
of your own free will to be a
servant of Allah
This is not applied to angels or animals
because they by nature,
they obey Allah and they are his servants
by nature. They can't do it any other
way.
If you choose to be a true servant
of Allah, you will be better than the
angels.
But if you don't and you do your
own thing, then you will be worse than
animals
and incense.
This is the honor. If you if you
do that, you will deserve the honor. If
you are not a true servant, you don't
deserve that honor.

So I was saying that for everything that
is created by humans in this life, there
is a manual or a catalog.
If you want your camera or your laptop
to function properly, you have to follow the
catalog for the manual.
The same thing is for Muslims, you have
to follow the Quran and the sunnah of
the Prophet SAW. This is your manual. If
you follow it, it will fight you. If
you don't follow it, you will be missed
out completely.
The second way to achieve happiness in this
life is to do good good deeds.
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says in Surah Al
Nakh that whoever does good deeds,
whether it is be
or whether it is man or woman, male
or female,
this person will live a decent and a
happy life in this life.
They say the reason is,
for someone, for example, if he lives a
corrupt life,
like thieves,
tubes, and chores, and curses,
if they live a miserable life, in this
life, criminal life,
or drug dealers or junkies
and the tyrants we have back home, although
their happiness is very short lived, they will
always live in fear. Something bad will happen
to me in this life, or
Allah
will punish me in the next life. So
they are not actually happy. They look happy
from the outside, the screensaver, they look happy,
but from the inside, they are scared to
Allah Subhanahu
Wa
Ta'ala
So the third thing that will help you
to achieve happiness in this life is to
always have this fear in your heart from
Allah Subhanahu
Wa Ta'ala. Because
if you know Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, if
you know that He is stern in punishment,
you will always leave doing
The 4th reason, and this is the last
one,
The 4th one, you have to be content
with whatever Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala has written
for you. The prophet sallallahu wa sallam says
in Adam
If you accept and if you are content
with whatever Allah
has given you, you will live a happy
life in this life. But if you always
protest and question
the Qadr of Allah
will be miserable in this life and in
the next life we get a big whooping
for doing this, for questioning Allah Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala.
So they will tell this story inshaAllah to
explain a little bit more on how to
achieve happiness in this life. The story of
Shatiq al Fati, one of the big scholars
of Islam and his student Hatem al Asam.
So Shafiq asked his student one day, how
long have you been studying under me? He
said 33 years.
So he said, what what did you learn
from me in that long period? He said,
8 things.
So he said,
What's wrong with you? 30 3 years and
you learn all only 8 things?
Are you nuts?
He said, O Allah, I'm telling the truth.
I'm not nuts. So he said, Tell me.
And we will mention only 4 of them
because of the type. So he
said,
So he said the first thing,
I've seen people being envious
to each other and they are hating each
other and this is because of money. Allah
has given some more than others. And when
I looked in the Quran, Allah
says, I, Allah
have distributed
the rest among my servants.
So now I know that Allah
is the provider, He is the distributor.
No. Now I lift envy,
and I know that my risk will not
be taken by somebody
else.
He said the second thing, when I look
at human beings
and I see them hating each other, and
I looked in the Quran Allah
says,
indeed the shaitan is your true enemy.
I left the enmity of other humans, and
I directed all my enmity and hatred towards
the shaitan, so I now I have no
hatred to another human being in my heart.
So
he said number 3, I looked at human
beings, each one of them has a beloved
thing. Some people love money, Some people love
their house. Some people love their laptop or
iPad.
And some people love their kids. But when
that person dies, they don't take anything with
them. They don't take their laptop or iPad
or
Visa card. Nothing.
So I looked for something that I love
that I can take with me into my
grave and I couldn't find anything except my
my good deeds. So I loved my good
deeds.
So instead number 4, I looked at human
beings, and I found each one of them
is putting his trust in some. Some people
trust
in their money.
Some people put their trust in their health.
Some people put their trust in their family,
status, and society.
And when I looked at all these things,
I know that can be taken away any
moment. Your health, your kids, your money, it
can be taken away from you. So I
put my trust in something that doesn't die,
and it is eternal. I put my trust
in Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala. That's Allah Subhanahu
Wa Ta'ala.
If I do all these things? How can
I be happy in this life? And I
see my brothers
and sisters,
the women and the children and the elderly
dying in Syria,
in Yemen, in Egypt, in other places. If
you look on the map, you will be
stressed for the whole
month. How can we help them? And how
can I be happy if I see them
suffering and die?
There are several ways you can help them.
At least, you will do your part.
Number
1, you can help them financially, donate your
money to help them. And number 2, you
can make dua for them. If you don't
have the money, at least make dua for
them.
And number 3,
if you join the rallies, the peaceful rallies
to support, if you write to politicians, if
you appear in the media and talk, maybe
Allah
will lift the hardship
from them.
And we tell our brothers and sisters
in Syria and other places who live 10000
miles away
that if we are not there to help
them, Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is with them.
And Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala say
he will support them.
Allah
will help them. And Allah
from his sunnah is to destroy the tyrants.
If he gives them more time, he gives
them time
to fall the rope several times on their
necks. So when Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala falls
the rope,
there's no place for them to run away.
And we tell them, we remind them of
the Hadith of the Prophet
know for sure
that victory comes with with patience,
and with hardship comes ease,
and with difficulty
comes ease. Does Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
