Okay. So this is yours. Very good, guys.
Hi.
So, sorry I'm
sorry I'm a a bit late. What? You
could use this one.
Yes. I'm a bit late, so, forgive me.
Some people have some questions for me, but
say I forgive you. I forgive you. Forgive
you.
So, today, inshallah, we'll talk about Forgiveness.
Forgiveness.
Forgiveness.
And we'll talk about 2 prophets.
We'll talk about 2 prophets. I forgive you,
Hindri,
for the
technical
difficulties.
So,
in the story of Muhammad SAW Salam and
in the story of Yusuf Alaihi Salam, there
are so many things in common
between the two stories.
To start with,
Yusuf Alaihi Salam
lost his mother when he was very young,
and Muhammad
lost both his father and his mother.
So this is number 1.
Number 2,
people made plans
against Yusuf alaihis salam.
His brothers, they wanted to get rid of
him.
And when you read Surah Anfal, the people
of Mecca,
they wanted to get rid of Muhammad salam.
Yusuf alaihis salam had to spend so many
years outside his hometown
because of his
family,
and Muhammad had
to spend
many years outside Mecca because of the people
of Mecca. Right?
So the conspiracies
and the plans and so on and so
forth, but at the end, you see what
happened. Muhammad salaam,
became the undisputed,
leader of Arabia of his time, and Yusuf
alaihis salaam became the Aziz of Egypt.
So people were making plans
against both of them, but it turned into
to their favor.
Right? So Muhammad sasalam,
you know, achieved success, and Yusuf alaihi salam
became successful.
So now if you look at the story
of Yusuf alaihi salam, because
his mother died when he was young, and
he had a brother from the same father
and the same mother. His name was, Binyamin,
Benjamin.
And because they were very young,
their other brothers,
the older ones, they they were from another
mother,
and because Yaqub Alaihi Salam was giving a
lot of attention to the young ones because
they needed help with food, caring for them,
because Yaqub Alaihi Salam for Yusuf and Benjamin,
he was both the father and the mother
at the same time.
But the older ones,
they didn't see it this way. He was
giving them a lot of attention, he was
taking care of them, so he loves them
more than us, and this is mission in
Surah Yusuf.
He loves him more than us. Why is
this? So they were not happy.
So what did they do? They planned to
kill Yusuf alaihis salami.
Then someone said, oh no. Don't kill him,
but throw him away
to a distant land. Right? So he was
taken away from his father, and they say
he was 12 at the time,
and Surah Yusuf is Surah number 12 in
the Quran.
So he was taken away from his parents,
they tried to kill him, eventually they threw
him far away,
so he lost his family. He was taken
away from his family because of his brothers.
And now,
sometimes when someone that you don't know,
say for example,
you were in the flea market, you were
traveling somewhere,
and someone stole your back,
or someone did something terrible to you.
If it's a stranger,
I think this would be easier for you
to stomach,
and it is easier for you to to,
to believe than someone from your own flesh
and blood. Like say for example, if your
own sister or your own brother,
they stole your money, and they said terrible
things about you, this would be more hurtful
than someone you don't know. Right? Because the,
the the staff came to you from someone
that you know, and someone that is who
lives in your house.
Someone that you assumed loved you because you
share the same house, the same, you know,
they came from the same blood, from the
same father at least.
He was sold into slavery. He lost his
freedom.
And because of what happened in Egypt, he
ended up in jail.
Right? And I mentioned here before that it
seems to me that every single prophet who,
went to Egypt got into trouble for some
reason. Right? Musa alaihi salam was in trouble,
Yusuf alaihi salam was in trouble, Ibrahim alaihi
salam was in trouble.
So he was sold into slavery, and because
of what happened to Egypt he ended up
in jail.
So so many things, he was taken away
from his
father, his family,
he was sold into slavery, he became a
slave, he lost his freedom, and he ended
up in jail for nothing. He didn't do
anything,
and one of the things that hurt Yusuf
alaihis salaam
was later in the story,
you know what happened when he put the
cup of the King in the in the
bag, and and his brothers just to distance
themselves from Benjamin,
who was accused of stealing the cup or
the midyear cup.
His brother said
They said if Benjamin stole the cup,
the measuring cup,
then his full brother Yusuf he stole before.
He's also a thief, so this is something
that,
you know, in in in the family, like
but we have nothing to do with it
because he's not our full brother. They they
were trying to distance themselves
from Yusuf alaihis salam and call him a
thief, and he was not a thief. So
you see how much damage
they did to Yusuf Alaihi Salam. They stole
him, they tried to kill him, he was
sold into slavery, he ended up in jail,
and they called him a thief, a toque,
or a chore. Right?
And he didn't do any of this. Right?
But what happened later when they came to
Egypt
begging him for food,
begging him for food. Of course, they sold
him. They say in the tafsir
that when Yusuf Alaihi Salam was sold into
slavery,
and the people of the caravan, they took
him out of the well,
then when his brothers saw the, this caravan,
the people taking Yusuf Alaihi Salam, they said,
oh, he is ours.
He belongs to us. If you want to
take him,
pay us some money.
So they sold him for a few worthless
coins. This is what they say in in
some books of the tafsir. So his his
brothers actually, they sold him
into slavery,
and later in the story,
when they came
begging for food,
and they said,
We have been touched with difficulty and hardship,
and the only thing that we can afford
to give you for the food
is these worthless coins. It's the same thing.
They sold them for worthless coins,
and they were begging for food, and the
only thing they could afford is worthless coins.
At the end of the story, and they
said give us sadaqa because we have no
money, we cannot afford the food, so do
sadaqa, give us sadaqa. And they were on
their knees begging for food.
What did he say?
He told them,
do you not know what you did to
me a long time ago?
They said, oh, are you Yusuf? And and
they were in astonishment,
and he said,
Allah will forgive you. Khalasa, I forgive you.
I have nothing in my heart against you.
And subhanAllah, they say,
when eventually in the story he met his
family, they came to Egypt,
and he honored his parents, and they made,
you know, the rest of the story.
And he was telling his father how
gracious, of how kind Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala
was to him,
when he brought the family from the desert,
and Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala took him out
of jail.
But the most interesting thing in this story,
he doesn't talk about how his brothers
threw him in the well, and how they
sold him into slavery and tried to kill
him. There's no mention of this in
the speaking of the favors of Allah upon
him. Why?
Because
Yusuf alaihis salam was Al Kareem.
When you forgive someone,
you don't remind them of what terrible things
they did to you in the past, and
this is why Yusuf alaihi wasalam didn't mention
what his brothers did to him a long
time ago after he has forgiven them because
he was Al Karim. Right?
And the prophet
did the same thing. The people of Makkah,
they drove him out, they tried to kill
him, they were saying terrible things about him,
and he had to stay away from Makkah,
from his, you know, land, and so on
and so forth. And eventually,
when the Prophet
returned to Makkah so many years later,
and the people were begging for his mercy,
what did he say? He used the exact
same words
that Yusuf alaihis salam said. He said,
He used the exact same words that Yusuf
alaihis salam said to his brothers.
So you see a lot of similarities
in the story, and one thing we get
from the story is
we are not perfect. We are human beings.
We make mistakes all the time.
So if you like people to forgive you
every time you make a mistake, so you
have to forgive them. And there's also one
thing I want to say about the story
of Yusuf alaihi salam. Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala
calls it
The most beautiful story. If you feel
let down, if you are in a difficult
situation,
if people turn their backs on you, if
you feel alienated,
if you are in a difficult situation, read
Surah Yusuf.
No one who's going through difficult times read
Surah Yusuf, except that Allah will fill their
hearts with joy because everyone has a happy
ending at the end of the story.
So
the Ulema speak about the difference between the
action of Yusuf alaihis salam when he forgave
his brothers immediately,
and their father, Yaqub alaihis salam. So Yusuf
alaihis salam said, let the 3, I
forgive you immediately,
but when they ask for their father's forgiveness,
he said,
He didn't
ask for forgiveness for them right away like
Yusuf. He said, I will make dua for
you to be forgiven.
Why?
They say
in
different books, they say that Yaqub alaihis salam
wanted to make sure that Allah will forgive
them, and he waited until a Sahar
to make dua for them before fajr. Because
the dua at this time is most likely
to be accepted.
So this is what they say in the
tafasiq. We ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to
give us the best in this life and
the best in the life to come. Make
sure to forgive each other. We'll continue inshallah,
the next couple of times.
See you tomorrow.
