Mustafa Khattab – Closer to Allah 25 Generous Companions Ramadan 2011

So last night, in Taghavruk, we spoke about

the generosity of the prophet sallallahu alaihi wa

sallam.

And today, briefly tonight, we'll be talking also

about the generosity of the companions of the

prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam.

The Sahaba of the companions of the prophet

they

knew that generosity

does not mean

necessarily mean that you give when you are

rich.

They knew that the highest form of generosity

is you when you give why you don't

have that much.

They knew that for every dollar you give

for Sabeel Ilah, for the sake of Allah

Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, you will give back 700

from Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, and Allah gives

more to whom he wants. As Allah Subhanahu

Wa Ta'ala says in Surat Al Baqarah.

So the story for today

comes from Jabal Nabilah, the companion of the

prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, and the Hadith

is mentioned in Bukhari and Muslim.

Very

authentic. So he said

that one day he told his wife during

the battle of Al Kandaf, the trench, that

the Prophet SAW. And his companions, they have

been working digging the trench for days, and

they didn't eat anything.

So what do you have here in the

house? She said, a bunch of barley, shayim,

and a goat, a lot of skinny goat.

So he said, grind

the barley

and slaughter the goat and cut it, and

I'll go and buy the Prophet

So she said, okay,

you know that we have limited food.

Invite the Prophet SAW. And 5, 6, after

10 of his companions, so they eat the

food, Alhamdulillah,

no problem. So don't disgrace us in front

of the companions

because we don't have enough food for everyone.

So Jabal went to the prophet and he

whispered in his ears. And he said, oh,

Prophetullah,

we have some,

you know, bread in the house and also

some meat. We want to invite you and

a couple of sahaba, alhamdulillah.

So the prophet

smiled and said, Jazabullah Khan,

oh everyone, listen up.

Your brother Jabir invited you to to his

house, and there were a 1,000 of them.

Jabal Nablassayibullah

there were a 1,000 of them. So they

went to the house on the Prophet salas

the house of Jabal, and on the way

Jabal says, I wanted the earth to open

up and swallow me. I didn't know how

we can feed all these people.

By the time he went home, his wife

was astonished.

Come on, man. I told you, 10 people,

you're bringing a 1,000? He said, Wallahi, I

told the Prophet what can I do? You

know, he invited them.

So the prophet sahaja salam put his hands

in the dough,

and

in

the meat in the container of the meat,

and he made dua, and it was multiplied

instantly.

And Jabez said, will Allah hinder a 1,000

people over there, and every time they finish

the bowl or the, the container of the

meat or the bread, it was filled up

again. It was filled up again until all

of them ate, and they left and to

they ate to their fullest,

and they played and the bowl were full,

the container.

By the mercy and by the barakah of

the Prophet SAW Alaihi Wasallam.

Alone.

So we conclude with this story, and the

opposite happens in this story. Someone was rich,

but stingy, cheap.

This guy

was from a city in Egypt. I'm Egyptian

myself, but I'm not a pharaoh because pharaohs

are usually tall.

Anyway, anyway, so he wanted to change the

stereotypes about himself being stingy. So he invited

1 person from the village, and he said,

come over,

eat lunch dinner with me. So this man,

the guest on the way, after salatu malim,

he invited the whole masjid

to the house of this chief guy.

So on the way he gave him a

call and said, okay, I'm on the way.

He said, welcome inshallah, the food is ready,

everything, you know, you know.

So when he reached the house, he knocked

on the door. So the host looked from

the window, the blinders,

and he saw the

everybody's in front of the house, he was

scared, he didn't open the house.

So the guest kept on knocking on the

door,

and he wouldn't open.

And he said, Subhanallah, I know you are

inside, I called you 10 seconds ago. Open

up. He said

he pretended like he didn't hear it. He

said, Brother,

answer my colleague. Allah

spoke to Musa alaihis salam.

So the the host said when Allah spoke

to Musa, Musa was by himself.

He didn't invite the all of the children

of Israel with him.

Come on, man. Come by yourself.

So the question for

yes, last night,

if a widow lady has children and they

have enough money to give zakah, should she

give the zakah out or keep the money

for the kids, the orphans? And the answer

is she has to give the zakah.

The money does not decrease by giving the

zakat. It will increase as the Prophet SAW

Alaihi Wasallam

says in Hadith. So I'll
