Mustafa Khattab – Closer to Allah 21 The Sunnah the Better Ramadan 2011

So today, before Ma'am, we have this program,

the face of Ramadan for non Muslims.

We invited them for a tour in the

masjid, a lecture,

and, they have a star with us. So

I gave a talk about Islam, and after

the talk, this non Muslim lady, mostly,

I would say Christian,

she said, do you have, music

as part of your service?

Say, for example, you pray, and after the

prayer, you, sing and dance

and that stuff. Maybe this is her first

time in the mission.

So I said no.

So she said why?

And I said because in Islam,

for your actions to be accepted and to

get close to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala, two

conditions should be met.

Number 1,

you have to do things sincerely for the

sake of of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. If

you show off, no reward.

And number 2, you have to follow precisely

the example of the prophet salallahu alayhi wa

salam. So the prophet salallahu alayhi wa salam

told us to pray in a certain way,

so this is what we do. So this

is the reason we don't have music, we're

dancing in the masjid, because the prophet sallallahu

alaihi wa sallam told us to pray and

fast in a certain way, and this is

what we do.

Fayuh, inshaAllah,

al Wasila al Muayna alaqubibil Allah Subhanahu Wa

Ta'ala

For you to be close to Allah

you have to follow the example of the

prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam.

If you pray, mamrik, pay a waz,

0 reward.

If you circle the Kaaba 15 times,

0 reward.

Because you have to do exactly the same

thing that the prophet

did. If you do more or less,

especially when it comes to obligatory

acts of worship, there's no reward.

So the scholars classify

the sunnah of the prophet sallallahu alaihi wa

sallam into 2 groups.

The sunnah of 'ala or sunnah of tradition,

things that the Prophet did because everyone around

him was doing,

like the way they dressed, the style, the

fashion at that time, the jalabiya. This is

how everyone dressed. If you have seen the

Masjid movie, the Sahaba and the Kufar, they

dressed the same way, The same jalabiya, same

term.

And also, there are some certain things that

the prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam liked or

didn't like when it comes to food, for

example.

He liked. And it is true that the

prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam liked watermelon,

zucchini, and squash.

If you like this food, it's up to

you. If you don't like it, it's up

to you. He didn't like,

the meat of

al dal, which is a lizard like,

rib thigh.

So some of us haven't ate it, and

the prophet didn't eat it. So if you

follow in this area or don't follow, there

is no sin on you.

Some who come Arabic to Muni usalli, hadam

musulat al Ibad. Waylataar Rabius salam

al athaha haram al alahuburummati.

Hazam al Ibad ifaqlatafar.

So the prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam says,

pray as you have seen me pray, this

is an act of worship. This is Ibad.

If the prophet says,

don't wear gold for men,

so this is Ibad because he says do

or don't do, then it becomes Ibad.

So one of the brothers, he told me

for years, if he made a mistake in

the salah, like, he didn't recite sujood

al Fashahhud in the second Raqqah, he would

make salah and start all over again again.

He didn't know about sujood the sunnah at

the end. So knowing the sunnah will make

your life easier. And I conclude with this,

final story from one of the brothers.

I'll conclude with this story from one of

the brothers from a country in Southeast Asia.

He swore to me that in his small

village, the guy who was leading the

congregation is not a scholar, but he read

a couple of pages here and there. He

told them that they have to make wudu

for the animal before they slaughter it for

ul Hayat in the Eid al Adha.

So someone came to him and he was

making a lot of mustafar, oh, Allah forgive

me, I didn't know this, ruling.

What about the animals that slaughtered in the

past years and I didn't know this ruling

because I'm ignorant?

So he said you have to make him

up again

because the 1 illudayy al dakudu does not

count.

So, Allah, this is it's a true story.

The brothers swore to me. So you don't

have to make wudu for your animal if

you

So in the Masjid Haram, when people pray,

some of the people because they are standing

in circles around the Kaaba, some of them

will be facing the iman face to face.

And this is the only question in the

world where you have this.

If you are praying Dhu,

you forgot to recite a short Surah but

a few ayahs after Fatiha in the 1st
