Mustafa Khattab – Closer to Allah 11 Watch Your Tongue Ramadan 2011

So today, inshaAllah, the means

of bringing you closer to Allah subhanahu wa

ta'ala

is to to be quiet,

to control your tongue,

as we will say in some of the

hadith of the prophet

Sometimes we do the good deeds,

but we lose

most of the rewards because of our tongues,

as the prophet says in the hadith.

And have you concerned

why you have 2 ears and 2 lips

at only one tongue?

To listen

twice as much as you speak. And if

you look at the mouth,

at the tongue, it is guarded by 2

lips and how many teeth?

And this is the only sense out of

the 5 senses that it guarded heavily

in that way.

The eyes don't guard it in that way.

The ears, the nose,

only the tongue. And this is a warning.

This is a reminder to all of us

to control your tongue, to watch your mouth.

Allah. The Prophet was telling us in the

authentic hadith that whoever believes in Allah on

the final day, let him or her say

good or to be quiet. Otherwise, we'll be

losing

So as we said, in this authentic hadith

narrated

by Mu'ad ibn Jalal Abuhambu,

that most of the people that the thing

the only one thing

that takes people to the hibar, 1st class,

is their tongues.

So Mu'an radiAllahu anhu came to the prophet

and said, oh, prophet Allah, tell me about

something that will take me to Jannah and

keep me away from the hibar. So the

prophet told

him about different things. Salatah, salah,

charity,

sayyam, and all these,

righteous acts.

Then at the end of the hadith, the

prophet

told him, shall I tell you about the

fountain

of all goodness?

The thing that combines all the good things

that I mentioned?

Then the lord

said, control your time. What's your time? So

Muhammad said, oh, prophet of Allah, are we

held accountable on the day of judgment

for what we say?

Then the prophet was surprised and he said,

may your mother be

briefed of you.

Does anything take people or make people fall

on their noses or faces in the Himfaq

more than

their tongues. The prophet was surprised that Mu'adullah

was was asking.

So according to the hadith of the prophet

sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, the tongue is the

one thing that takes many people to the

Hilfar Al Aya al Bala.

So some people don't care about or don't

give way through the words.

Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala created the heavens and

earth with one word.

B and it is. Just one word. B.

When you give birth to a lady,

you marry with one word. I do.

When you divorce, you divorce with one word.

I don't.

And you enter into Islam by saying a

word. I accept

Islam.

And some people, when they had to be

left, they get out of Islam because of

one word.

When the way you saw us at the

may say a word and this person is

not even paying attention, and this word will

make him or her fall in the hellfire

for 70 years.

So many homes are destroyed because of one

word.

Many people are killed because of one word.

So be careful.

They law enforce people.

They are aware of this precious gift, silence.

And when they come to, to,

stop someone or arrest someone, they remind you

of this precious gift.

You have the right to remain silent.

Everything you say will be taken against you

in the court of law. And you keep

talking, wallahi, I didn't mean to kill my

wife. I'm just kidding with her, and she

left.

Keep your nose shut, man.

Speaking of husbands and wives and the time,

I'll conclude with this, story. Many of you

probably heard this story from me before.

So

I'm gonna say the story very briefly in

English.

You probably heard it several times

40 years

ago, when we first got married, we decided

to go to the the top of the

mountain, the peak of the mountain for honeymoon.

We couldn't take the car because the road

was so steep, so I took a donkey.

My wife took a donkey. We put all

the luggage on the back of the donkeys.

On the way, because the road was so

steep, the load was heavy. My wife's donkey

didn't move. So she started to yell like,

guss and howling and pull and push everything.

The donkey didn't move.

She got so mad. She said, okay. 1.

After 200, it did the same thing. She

started to howl, scream, shout, toss, everything. It

didn't move. She said, okay. That's it. 2.

After 300, it did the same thing. It

wouldn't move. She started pulling it, pushing it,

every everything. It didn't move. She

pulling it, pushing it, every everything. It didn't

move. She said, that's it. 3. She got

a gun out of her pocket. She shot

the donkey dead.

The hospital was so mad. What is going

on here? Why did you kill the poor

thing? She said, keep your mouth shut.

He said, I'm not keeping the mouth shut.

Do you expect me to carry the luggage

in in in place of the donkey? She

said, be quiet.

He said, what did the dog

why did you kill him? He didn't do

nothing. The poor thing, it didn't

she said,

be quiet. So he came to passing an

army with him. She said, that's it. 1.

He said,

I keep my mouth shut

for 40 years, and this is the secret

of happiness.

So I hope that all of the brothers

here will learn from the lesson. Okay?

Question very quickly. A sister is pregnant in

the 2nd month of pregnancy,

and for some reason, she has an abortion

or a miscarriage,

in the 2nd month of pregnancy, and this
