So today, InshaAllah, we'll continue talking about humility
of the Sahaba of Allahu
Anubhayim. And we spoke about the difference
And his brother, Mokabe?
But Mokabe is not here today.
Sorry.
So this is an electronic Quran,
to help them with the tawheed and tarsil.
So one of the stories reported from Umar
ibn Khattab radiAllahu Anhu,
one day he called people to come to
Salaat and of course if it was time
for the 5 prayers, the event would be
made. Allahu Akbar, and 2 people will come.
But if it was something,
serious or there was a problem or there
was an enemy attacking the Muslim in the
state in Madinah, at the time of the
prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, they used to
say, Assalatujamiyah,
come to the salah.
So, Omar Ibn Khattab radiAllahu said did the
same thing. He called for the prayer and
it is not it was not the time
for Salaam, and people came running to the
masjid,
terrified.
So, Omar Ibn Khattab radiAllahu
ascended the member and he started to give
a talk
and he said,
let all of you know that when I
was young, I used to be a shepherd,
take care of some goats to my aunts,
and they used to give me a handful
of barley or wheat.
And if you don't know this, now you
know.
Salaam Alaikum and he left.
So Ali ibn Abi Talib radiAllahu
said, you know, you humiliated yourself, why did
you do this? So Umar ibn Khattab radiAllahu
said, I was sitting,
then I remembered now I'm the Khalifa of
the Muslimeel,
and people come to me, delegations come, so
I feel like I'm something.
So I I wanted people to know that
I'm a humble man, I came from humble
origins, and I wanted to humble myself in
front of the people. So this is what
he did.
Whenever he went to the market and he
was the Khalifa,
he used to buy, you know, fruits, vegetables,
and stuff
for his children. And once his Sahaba offered
to carry the load
on his behalf, he used to refuse and
say that the father of the children has
to carry their food on his shoulder, not
other people. Okay? So I have to carry
it myself.
So in this authentic Hadith, and we're gonna
conclude with this Hadith in the short story,
the Prophet SAW Hassan defines
arrogance.
So the Prophet SAW Hassan says, a person
with an atom's weight of arrogance kib will
never go to Jannah. So one of the
sahabas said, oh prophet of Allah,
we like to, to wear nice clothes, beautiful
clothes, and beautiful shoes, and to look nice.
So the prophet says, this is not kibb,
this is not Arabs.
Then the prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam says,
Allah is beautiful, and he loves everything that
is beautiful. Arrogance is to look down upon
people and despise them and to reject the
truth.
So we grew up with this mentality back
home that if there is a disagreement between
an old man and a young man or
a youth,
then the truth must have must be with
the old man because he's old. The young
one has to be at fault at all
times. This is the mentality back
home.
Also, this is how people,
especially in some places back home, they treat
different people according to their social status in
the society. If you are rich, like say
for example, there's a police officer and there's
a car accident.
2 cars are involved in the accident.
1 of them is rich or he is,
you know, he's something in the society and
the other guy is poor.
So the poor guy is always at fault
even if he is the one who is
dead.
And he was killed by the other guy,
so he must be at fault because rich
people and, you know,
big people are not at fault at all.
So this is the mentality.
The people of Mecca did the same thing
with the prophet SAW. They rejected the Quran
just because the prophet SAW came from humble
origins, humble backgrounds. And they said, as the
Quran reported,
if only this Quran was revealed to a
rich man,
what difference does it make if it was
given to a rich man or a poor
man? The truth is the truth.
So we conclude with this story.
Jabalat al Hayez al Al Aham was a
prince in Damascus in in Syria before Islam
under the Romans. So when he saw the
picture of Islam and the the Romans were
losing to the Muslim state, so he accepted
Islam. And he visited Omar and Khattar Adhilah
in Madinah,
and he went for Omar while he was
making tawaf.
A person stepped on his clothes.
So he felt so mad, he slapped him
on the face and he broke his nose.
So they came to Umar ibn Khattab radiAllahu
anhu
said,
compensate
him for the damage he did to his
nose
or he will retaliate. He will break your
nose. So he said, I'm a prince,
and he is like a peasant. He is,
you know, somebody from the street.
Do you do you do you treat me
as his equal?
So he said, no. You did this to
him. There's no prince. There's no king and
peasant in Islam. You are all equal before
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala. And plus, I was
very nice to him. I should have killed
him. I just broke his nose.
The only reason I didn't kill him be
it was because we were allowed in the
cab. You know, I didn't want blood to
be all over the place. You know, I
I was very nice to him. So I'm
in Qatar Iran. He either
compensate him, give him money, or retaliation
will break your nose. So I said, okay.
Let me think about it.
Very late at night, he left Madinah, and
he went to the Romans, and he left
Islam completely. And he died as a kafir
because of his arrogance. He didn't like the
Islamic concept of
equality.
