Mustafa Khattab – Arrogance 1

So in the past few weeks, we

spoke about humility, and

today, we'll talk about the opposite of a,

which is arrogance.

And Allah

says that, Kibria is one of my qualities.

Whoever tries to assume Kibria,

I will destroy

him.

It means arrogant.

But when we describe Allah

as the word used in translation is the

almighty.

The almighty. We don't use the word arrogant

to describe Allah

So one of his qualities is

So again, it's one of the qualities of

Allah. Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala is the creator.

He is the almighty. He is the all

powerful.

He describes himself in any way. He sees

fit and he does whatever he wants. But

we, as human beings,

you cannot be arrogant because of something that

you didn't create, you cannot be arrogant because

of something you don't have.

Your money, your beauty, it is not something

you created, it is something that Allah

gave you, so you have no control over

it, and therefore, you should not be

proud,

you should not have pride or arrogance because

of it. It is not yours. And therefore,

one day it should be taken away from

you. Beauty,

when you hit old age, maybe you'll lose

it. Knowledge,

forget about it. When you get to some

certain age, then you'll lose that knowledge.

Smaller in the eyes of the people.

Okay?

So there is a pattern in the Quran.

If you read the verses that talk about

the destruction of the arrogant ones,

they are always destroyed because of the very

thing they were proud about.

And if for example, if you look in

this story,

So if you look at the story of

the pharaoh, he says, the kingdom of Egypt

is mine, and all these rivers belong to

me. How did he die?

Drilling.

By the very thing that he was proud

about, Oorah, he drowned.

If you look in the story

Qa'un Korah in Surat Al Qasas,

he was proud because of his palaces and

his money, and he said, I got all

this money and these houses because of my

knowledge, it's not because of Allah. This is

what he says in them. So how did

how was he destroyed?

It says that his house or his spouse

was collapsed with him.

So his house that he was proud of

was the very reason why he was killed.

So in the story of Adam and Iblis

where he was asked to make suzood to

Adam and he refused, and he said it's

unbearable in him. He's created from man and

created from fire. How will the shaitan be

punished in the day of judgment?

By fire.

The very same thing that he was proud

of, the last example, and there are so

many of them.

If you look into the story of Ahab,

A'raf, the reason they rejected according to Surah

al Surah is because they were very tall

and they were very powerful.

When it comes to physical health, they were

probably some of the most powerful people that

walked the face of this earth, and this

is why they rejected.

They used to make their homes inside. They

used to cut their homes inside the mountains,

and they still exist still this day in

the southern part of,

Saudi Arabia and the northern part in the

northern part of Saudi Arabia and southern part

of Jordan. Their homes are still there. So

they denied because they were powerful, and they

said, who is more powerful than us? And

the Aya said, it is Allah who created

you. Who is more powerful than you?

So the Aya said, it's because of this

never destroyed. You look at them when they

are lying around

like empty and hollow,

trees, empty from the inside. So Allah

took away all the muscles, He took away

all the power they had.

Pretty,

this would be the same reason she would

be divorced and she will sit in her

house and nobody will marry her. Okay? This

is one reason.

Also, if you look at the people

who abused their power and their authority, just

look back on the Arab Spring and what

happened,

these people, they became

tired and arrogant because of their power. Unlike

them in power, so they abused people.

Now look at the examples of those who

abused their people because of their power, authority,

and strength.

What happened to them? Some of them were

killed,

some of them ran away, some of them

were burned, some of them
