So today we continue
with lessons from the life of Anas ibn
Malik radiAllahu anhu, and we'll focus only on
one listen
So today, we'll talk about the concept of
tadaafu in Islam. Most people probably
never heard of this concept in in the
Islamic,
teachings.
It is called tadaafu, and there is no,
equivalence
for this word. There's no equivalence for this
word in the English language. There are several
ways to translate this concept. One of them
could be to let go,
to brush things off,
to overlook.
But they don't actually convey the actual meaning
of Tabafun in Islam.
So the person who practices or exercises
Tabafu is the one who always thinks about
major things,
and he or she overlooks
minor things.
Now, let's say, for example,
in the house,
something happens unintentionally. Your kid
drops a a glass cap, and it was
broken.
Some people make a scene, and they start
fighting and shooting at each other and fist
fighting and calling 911
for no reason. It is something minor,
something that can be overlooked so easily.
They come home tired, they eat and fall
asleep.
They don't focus on small things.
But usually, when people grow older, especially when
they retire,
now they have nothing but time.
So they focus on everything. They walk in
the house with a magnifying glass,
and they start fighting for no reason.
Okay. This box is put like this. Why
don't you put it like this?
Okay. Who put this chair behind the door?
Halim, it has been here for 15 years.
But because he was busy, he didn't
look at it.
Every time I get something, he he would
never say, why did you do this man?
And if I lift something, I didn't do
it. He told me to do something, and
I didn't do it. He would never tell
me, why didn't you do it, man?
And if Anas, the
servant of the prophet, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam,
was criticized
by the wife of the prophet, sallallahu alaihi
wa sallam, why did you do this? Why
didn't you do this? The prophet, sallallahu alaihi
wa sallam, would say, leave him alone. If
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala has decreed
that he would do something, he would have
done it.
If Allah has decreed that he wouldn't do
something, he wouldn't have done it, so leave
him alone.
He would overlook and brush it off, and
he wouldn't even talk about it. So this
is the meaning of the ay. He
spoke about some.
So
So the prophet
said, why didn't you cover him with your
clothes?
Cover him. Don't expose him in front of
the people. Maybe he did it something wrong
but unintentionally
or maybe he didn't know the ruling. He
was ignorant. He shouldn't expose and publicize and
broadcast,
every evil you see. If there's something small,
you have to let it go.
So there are 2 different things, and we
conclude with this inshallah.
If the rights of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala
or the rights of people are violated,
you have to lay down your foot and
stand your ground and say this is wrong.
If your wife doesn't pray, you have to
say something.
If your kids are neglecting their school and
their classes and homework, you have to say
something.
But I'm talking about minor things, things that
are trivial, things that are not important.
And the prophet, salallahu alaihi wa sallam,
so people would come to him and say
things to him and call him names, and
he wouldn't say anything.
But when the rights of Allah subhanahu wa
ta'ala were violated,
like someone killed someone, someone,
lied, someone fabricated
had the prophet, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, would
say something, and he would give angry for
it.
So we conclude with a story from Salahuddin.
Allah, he was sitting in his camp. And
as we know, Salahuddin was the Khalifa.
He was the ruler of the area, stretching
from India
in the east and Mauritania
and West Africa in the west, Spain and
lower Turkey in the north and the lower
part of,
Sudan.
He was the Khalifa of all that area.
He was sitting with his soldiers in the
camp. In the break, they were having light
movements, you know, if they were joking and
laughing and stuff. So one of them threw
his shoe at another
fellow, another companion, one of his friends, so
it missed him and it fell right in
front of Saladin.
You see? So he turned his face to
the other side and started talking to
the guy sitting next to him just to
pretend like he didn't see it. So they
take the shoes back and nothing happened. So
this is what we need to do. You
only focus on the minor things, but the
minor things, sometimes you have to let go.
If you focus with everything
that happens in this life,
your life would be miserable.
Every you yourself
are not perfect.
You are not perfect. So don't expect everyone
around you to be perfect too. We ask
the, oh, Allah,
to forgive our sins and to accept our
beliefs.
