Mustafa Khattab – Allah Has The Ultimate Plan
AI: Summary ©
The history of Islam in various countries, including the West Bank, Canada, and the United Kingdom, emphasizes the importance of fearing history and not losing hope in the mercy of Islam. The community is crucial in protecting one's safety and well-being, and individuals should be proud of their culture and faith. The importance of living a pancible life and protecting privacy is emphasized, along with the need for unity and support for groups facing discrimination or discrimination. The speakers emphasize the need for community support and unity, as some racism exists and some faced difficulty or discrimination. The Make8 Islamic Academy is mentioned as a place to update people's perspective on Islam and promote activism.

I bear witness that there is none worthy
of our worship except Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala.
And I bear witness that Muhammad salallahu alayhi
wa sallam peace be upon him is the
seal of the prophets
and the final Messenger to all of humanity.
Whoever
Allah guides, there is none to misguide, and
whoever Allah
leaves astray, there is none to guide.
So today as we speak,
Donald Trump is being inaugurated
as the 45th
president of the US.
And a lot of Muslims,
especially in the US, are terrified,
horrified,
traumatized,
as I called it.
This fear that Muslims have
reminds me of a story that I heard
when I was a little kid in Egypt.
So the story goes something like this.
So this story I heard
back in
the 1980s
growing up in Egypt and it goes something
like this, someone
went to work in the morning
with his face burnt, Both sides of his
face.
So his friend said, okay what happened? Why
is your face burnt both sides? He said,
you know, I was ironing my shirt
and back in the day they didn't have
cell phones in the 19 eighties, they had
the regular phone.
So he said the phone rang, I tried
to answer the phone
and by mistake I took the iron, I
put it to my face, I burnt this
side.
So his friend said, okay, what happened to
the other side? He said, the
phone rang again, rang again. So I made
the same thing.
So history hasn't happened over repeating
itself.
So we we shouldn't fall for the same
trap and the same mistake again.
Those of us who are afraid, I would
like to tell them that the only thing
we should fear is fear itself. You shouldn't
be afraid of Donald Trump. He's a creation
of Allah, hu a Abdullah.
So he is fulfilling the Mashiyyah, the will
of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala. Because nothing happens
in this universe
without the mashiyyah or Iradah of Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala. Everything will eventually
fulfill the mashiyyah of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
So we shouldn't be afraid of
him. And as we begin, and this is
his first day in office,
some of you will be
surprised to see me making dua for him,
and instead of some making dua that Allah
will destroy him and bring destruction on him,
this will not benefit anyone in any way.
We should all make dua for him that
Allah will guide him to the truth, and
give him a daya, and guide him to
what is best for humanity.
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala has a mysterious way
of guiding even the hardest of hearts,
and the stories are there in the Quran.
You see some people you think they are
very hard to deal with, and they are
very devilish in their actions, but Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala will guide them, so we never
know.
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala,
we should not lose hope in Him because
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala existed before hope.
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala existed
before anything, and he will continue to exist
after everything.
So never lose hope in him because he
existed even before he created hope.
You look at history,
it keeps repeating itself all the time,
but eventually the Muslim community survived
all the time, and Islam will always survive
because Islam is a survivor.
Go back 1500 years ago, when the Prophet
SAW Hassan was in Mecca all by himself,
and 1 by 1 started to believe in
his message, and the whole community in Mecca
was against him.
The people of Mecca came and left,
and the prophet salallahu alaihi wa sallam, and
the Muslim community and Islam survived.
Then the prophet salallahu alaihi wa sallam moved
to Madinah, and the people of Mecca and
the pagans of Arabia started to attack. They
came and left Badr, Uhud, Al Khandaq, this,
that.
The Muslim community survived,
Islam survived. Where are the pagans of Arabia
now? They're gone.
Then the crusaders came from Europe,
the attack they came, they launched about saving
campaigns
over 100 of years,
and 100 of 1000 if not millions of
Muslims were killed
around Jerusalem, in North Africa, and many different
places.
But the Crusaders came and left,
Islam survived, and Muslims survived.
Then the Tartars and the Mughals came, they
sacked Baghdad, they killed the Khalifa,
hundreds of Muslims have been killed.
But they came and they left,
And the Tartars, many of them actually accepted
Islam after they stayed in that area. But
they came and left, and the Muslim community
survived,
and Islam survived.
Then the European
imperial powers came, the French, the British,
they stayed for 100 of years
in the Muslim world, in India and Pakistan,
in Egypt,
in all the places,
but they came and they left. And the
French of course in Algeria and other places,
they came and left, but the Muslim community
survived,
and Islam survived.
Then the communists came and they tried to
conquer the world.
They invaded Afghanistan,
they came and left,
and Islam survived, and Muslims survived.
Then the secularists
in Turkey,
they abolished the Tilafa,
they abolished the Arabic language, they abolished the
Yavan, and so on and so forth. They
came and left, and Islam survived, and Islam
alhamdulillah is thriving in Turkey right now. So
again,
history has a habit of repeating itself,
so we should not lose hope in the
mercy of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. We are
here in this world to stay, Islam is
not going anywhere.
Donald Trump has a vision of making America
great again.
Our goal, and our vision, and our mission
in life is to make the Muslim community
and Islam even greater.
With the mercy of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
So now, since we are here, we're not
going anywhere,
then we should look at the big picture.
So today inshallah, is what I call the
state of the Umma.
And before I speak about the state of
the Umma,
this murk on George Bush's face because he
came and left,
Islam is intact, Islam is safe Alhamdulillah.
He tried his best but nothing happened.
I saw this look in his face and
I thought what is going in his mind.
He was basically saying Alhamdulillah. I'm not the
worst president in the history of this can
of this country anymore. There's someone who take
my place. But again,
people come and go, Islam will always survive.
Now when we speak about Islam in Canada,
we have been here for the longest. Some
people like doctor Hakim Quick,
said, we came here even at the time
of the 1st nation. We came way before
Christopher Columbus was discovered
by the 1st nation. He didn't discover nothing,
he was discovered by the natives in 14/92.
He came and there were millions of people
living here, and he said actually there is
concrete evidence that Muslims existed in the Americas
before the Europeans came.
Okay. But the issue is open for debate,
no problem.
Back in 18/71,
4 years after the founding of Canada.
18/71.
4 years after the founding of Canada, they
did a census, and they found many Muslim
families, Muslim families living in Canada.
In Alberta,
in Ontario,
we have been here from the very beginning
in this country.
A lot of Muslims came from Europe, a
lot of Muslims came from Lebanon and Syria.
They came as peddlers,
the fur industry.
So we have always been here.
The first masjid was built in Canada
in
1938.
Masjid Al Rashid in Edmonton.
And alhamdulillah, I was honored to be the
imam of this masjid,
and it was built
by Muslim women.
The first masjid that was built in Canada,
1938,
was built by Muslim women. Because they're men,
they were business people, especially from the Syrian
Lebanese community, they used to travel far and,
you know, around. And the Muslims were staying,
the sisters were staying in Edmonton, so they
decided to do something for their children. So
they built Arashid Masjid.
Back in the 19 fifties sixties, those of
you who came to the GTA, there were
maybe a couple of masajid, janah masjid was
one of them, then in the next 30
or 3 decades or 4 decades, now alhamdulillah
we have 100 of masjid.
With the help of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala.
Yes, there were times when we had some
financial difficulties, but the communities
survived when we came together.
Now there are hundreds of masjids, alhamdulillah.
The number of Muslims in Canada is somewhere
between 1.52
1,000,000 Muslims, and more than half of them
live in the GTA.
In Mississauga, we have more than 160,000
Muslims. So this is a very big number.
More than 3%
of the population in Canada is Muslim, and
the number is higher, of course, in the
GTA because it's the concentration
of Muslims who are living here.
So alhamdulillah Islam is well, and the Muslim
community is doing well, but we need to
move to the next level, so the community
would not be shaken by challenges
like what is happening in our southern border.
So,
we need to look at the situation of
the Ummah, and how we can come together
to make the Muslim community strong, alhamdulillah.
I'm gonna give a couple of examples of
Muslims,
maybe I mentioned them before.
The Masjid in Saint Catherine's. Alhamdulillah was the
imam there,
and
one thing that a lot of people don't
know about the Masjid in Saint Catherine's, there's
about 7,000 Muslims living there in the Niagara
region.
7,000 Muslims.
The Masjid in Saint Catherine's, which is the
only Masjid in Saint Catherine's now, was built
in 1992
by a Shia man, and he built it
for the Sunni community.
The Masjid now is a Sunni Masjid. He
built it because his son was Sunni, he
passed away at a young age, so he
built the Masjid. He spent like 2 or
3000000 dollars to build that Masjid, the expansion,
he bought land, he bought a couple of
properties around for the Muslim community, the Sunni
community. And alhamdulillah, in the Niagara region, Islam
is thriving because of the contributions of this
man, I ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to
forgive him and give him generously. He did
something for the community and he was one
man,
And he did all this to the community.
Now you can imagine if all of us
come together, what we can do? We can
do a lot of good for the Muslim
community, and for our children, and for the
future of Islam in this country. Alhamdulillah, we
chose to come to this land.
There are more than 50 nationalities in the
Muslim community in Canada. People come from Southeast
Asia, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, many other places. People
come from North Africa, Egypt, other places.
People come from Europe, Turkey, Bosnia, other places.
People come from Latin America, and so on
and so forth. And many people among us,
they are reverts to Islam.
So we come from different nationalities,
and we have a common purpose, which is
to live a dignified
life in this land.
If you were born in one of those
countries I mentioned, as I said more than
50 nationalities are represented.
You didn't choose your country of origin, Whether
you were born in Pakistan, in Afghanistan, in
Egypt, in Turkey, in Somalia.
You did not choose your country of origin.
But every single one of us, unless you
are a native Indian,
or you are a revert to Islam from
Canada, you came from somewhere else.
The only difference is
some before some of us came before others.
Right? Like the Europeans came before and so
on and so forth. Everyone is an immigrant,
but some came before others.
So we came from different places, we chose
this land
because of something. It offers opportunities, so this
is why we chose to come here. So
I always say that your country of origin,
India, Pakistan, Egypt, Turkey, Somalia, other countries, It's
like your mother. You didn't choose your mother,
but Canada is like your wife.
You chose to be here.
No one forced Canada on you. You came
here with your own free choice, and you
are here to stay. You have a family,
so we need to look to what will
happen in the future.
So this is something we should always keep
in mind. So what do we need to
do as a community to thrive
and survive, and
to flourish as one community?
So I'm gonna give you some steps that
we need to take,
to be strong as a community. Number 1,
in Muslim, like salawu izafihal
alalam illa bil Islam. Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala
will never give your Izzaf except through Islam.
As Umar ibn Khattar radiAllahu Anhuqal.
Nahluqamun
Azad Allahu Bin Islam. Fayiliptarayil
alizatafirayi
adallan Allah. So Umar Radhanahu said,
We are people that we have been honored
by Islam,
and if you seek honor through anything else,
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala will put you to
shame. So Islam is your source of 'izzah.
So be proud of who you are. Be
proud of your culture, be proud of your
faith. If you have a name and your
name is Muhammad, please call yourself Muhammad.
Don't call yourself Moe.
If your name is Bilal, don't call yourself
Bill.
If your name is Zakariya, don't call yourself
Zach.
One day I was doing some nikah some
where, and one of the witnesses put his
name as Ish
in the marriage contract.
So I thought this is his name, then
someone reminded him,
Ish, put your actual name Ishmael.
I said, Why did you put Ish ma'am?
Put Ishmael, it's one of the Prophet's names.
You should be proud of who you are.
Don't be ashamed.
Because Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is the one
who made you Muslim. Who was Sammaghul Muslimin.
This is your honor
in this world, so be proud of who
you are. Don't be ashamed
that you have a Muslim name.
Everyone around you
is proud of who you are, and you
have the right to be proud. So this
is your source of Izzah in this dunya.
So we ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to
give Izzah to Islam and Muslims.
Make yourself visible.
If you give a donation,
if you're coming out of the store with
your wife or sister with hijab, and you
see someone asking for money, go and give
them a dollar or 2 to buy coffee,
or to buy something to eat, and they
know you are Muslim because you are the
only one wearing hijab or not. People know.
People ask, yes my name is Muhammad. You
should be proud. Let people know that you
are Muslim.
Last year, a group of Muslims from the
GTA
donated $1,000,000
to a hospital
in the area,
and it was a longer than you as
the Muslim community donated $1,000,000.
A charge was vandalized last year
by a Muslim youth. He went to the
church, he broke the windows, he did something
terrible, and it was a messian doctor Hamid
Salim from Sayyid Al Khadija Center, he raised
1,000 of dollars to repair the damage.
And it was a lower than use, the
Muslim community fixed the damage. So this is
the kind of attention that we need in
the media. And w'allahi, one good act of
kindness,
will go a long way, and it will
change all the negative images that are portrayed
in the media.
Few years back, a brother from Vancouver,
he donated his shoes to a homeless man,
and it was all over the news. A
sealed driver on the bus took a picture,
and it was all over the news. The
CBC for about a week, they were talking
about the Muslim generosity because of shoes.
$10 shoes. It was all over the news.
This is how you are going to change
the image, to give a positive image about
Islam. I can give thousands of khudwas about
how good Islam is. But one good act
in the name of Islam will change this
whole picture.
But,
when I came to this area, and I
was struggling to find a good place to
stay. We made an announcement after Jum'ah that
I was looking for a house, and Alhamdulillah
I found a townhouse, I didn't feel comfortable,
things happened, but eventually I was looking for
a detached house.
Alhamdulillah,
there's a Palestinian
brother who used to live here in this
community. He's now in Alberta.
He came to me and he said, there's
a non Muslim
landlord
in that area around the Frank McKinney
Community Center, and she is looking for a
Muslim tenant.
She's a non Muslim. And I said, why?
Because she said, she needs someone to protect
the house, someone to take care of the
house like his own.
And the only one who can do this
is someone from the Muslim community because no
partying,
no dogs inside the house, no drinking, no
drugs, no smoking, and this is what she
needed.
So I went there, and she actually
gave me a discount of $200
just because I'm a Muslim.
Because the tenant before,
he kept dogs in the house, and this
goes against the contract the tenant, the landlord
had with him.
He had dogs,
he didn't respect the contract.
She signed the contract with with 2 2
people. Eventually, she found out that 12 people
were living in the house.
The dogs were running the house,
tearing the curtains,
holes were made in the wall
and the doors.
They were smoking
stuff inside the house,
fighting, and partying, and stuff, and they didn't
pay the rent for about 4 or 5
months. So eventually she had to call the
police to kick them out. She thought that
they were depositing the money in her account,
then she realized that they were not paid.
She chose a Muslim to stay in her
house because she knows good things about Muslims,
that we respect our agreements.
No drinking, no drugs, no dogs inside the
house, we will protect the house. And she
said, I'll give you $200
discount because I know that you will respect
my house.
So this is a good thing that came
from the good image, and it can happen
to you.
Some of you, if you work for someone,
the employer, in many cases, will respect you.
I know some racism exists.
This is the nature of things,
but some employers will respect you. They will
think you're an honest man because when it
is time for you to pray, you leave
your work, you leave your money, and go
for salah, and they think if this guy
or this sister has respect for the Lord,
they will have respect because they will be
afraid from the Lord to steal something from
me. And they put full confidence in you.
So this is the kind of image that
we need to have in the community.
The second thing that we need to do
as a community is to be united.
As I said, we came from different places.
We will never succeed if we are disunited.
We have to come together, we have to
support each other.
If some Muslims, even from a different community,
are facing
a difficulty or discrimination, we have to stand
by their side and support them.
Best example,
Sheikh Saeed Al Aji from the Somali community
is Scarborough.
He has been fighting for 2 3 years
now to get zoning for his Masjid. Now
his Masjid is closed. The school is closed
because of some issues with the city
and he has been saying that well look
here
to the right there is a Hindu temple.
Here there is a Buddhist temple. Everyone is
getting zoning.
Why are you denying me zoning?
And if he fights by himself, he will
not gain attention. So Muslims need to stand
up and support
groups like this if they have the right
on their side. We advocate
the truth and we advocate justice.
But if some Muslim is doing something wrong,
is stealing something,
we cannot support something like this. We stand
up and we support justice as Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala said in the Quran.
With that being said, number 3,
we need also to stand up for other
groups who are abused or discriminated against in
this community. Because the general image is we
only stand up and speak out if a
Muslim is abused.
But if someone from another faith group or
someone from another community is abused,
we have nothing to say. So say, for
example, if someone from the native
Indian community, the first nation is abused,
or the rights are abused. We need to
say something, stand up for the truth,
and there are so many examples in the
Quran. In Surah Al Isaa, two examples.
Standing up for justice for a Jew.
Allah
freed the name of a Jew who was
falsely accused of theft.
Allah said in the surah that this Jew,
Jewish man is innocent. A Muslim stole the
shield, he's innocent.
And in the story of a pagan, the
keeper of the doors of the Kaaba, he
had the keys, the prophet salallahu alaihi wa
sallam took them back from the Muslims and
gave it back to a non Muslim.
He stood up for justice. So, this is
something we need to do.
If there is for example, a Catholic school
or
And they are fighting to stop a,
casino from being opened
next door,
maybe we can say something that this is
not safe for the students.
Someone, a representative from the community, and this
one lie will bring a lot of respect
and a lot of support for the community.
If you are fighting a cause, you will
find people standing by your side, and they
are supporting you. So this is something inshaAllah
we need to do.
Number 4.
I'm almost done inshaAllah.
I spoke about this last year,
before Ramadan,
about the fact that some people think of
Canada as a hotel.
And they think we are here to stay,
we are here for a short period of
time, eventually we are leaving.
And they have been here for a 100
years, their kids were born here, their grandchildren
are are born here.
So,
everything they can think about we're leaving, we're
not here to stay. So they're not doing
anything about the community,
they're not doing anything about their children, they're
not learning English or learning about the culture
because
we are leaving.
And they end up dying here, their children
will die here, no one is leaving. So
if you come to this reality that you
are here to stay, you have to change
your perspective.
How?
You would vote in elections.
The last time we had a general election,
a lot of Muslims voted and this is
why Toronto was elected because they felt the
pain and they were suffering,
and they came together and they started to
vote. I would say 10 15% of Muslims
voted in that election, and this is why
throw a win. What are the reasons?
Now imagine
if 1,500,000
Muslims,
or those who are eligible to vote,
750,000
more or less. Come together to vote in
elections,
not only you will elect or help elect
MPs,
you will elect a Prime Minister.
So maybe the day will come if there's
a Muslim candidate who is running for Prime
Minister,
if you come together as a community, you
will elect a Prime Minister.
And this will affect, and this will improve
the condition of Muslims in this country.
So we need to be involved. We need
to be
visible in the community.
You can join the board of mayors and
staff, you can join the city. Why? Because
this will help the Muslim community improve just
like other communities.
You go to the parliament, you go to
the city hall, you will see a lot
of turbines from the seed community. You'll see
people from different community, and there's nothing wrong
with that because
they try to help everyone, including their community
and improve the image of their community. And
the last thing I wanna say before I
let you go, inshallah.
As I said, we have been here for
a long time, and Alhamdulillah,
generally speaking, the Muslim community is doing well.
We have a better education than the average
Canadian.
We many of us make more money than
the average Canadian. Alhamdulillah, our women are educated.
We're in a good position, but we need
to take it to the next level.
We need to stop
running after the traditional jobs.
We need to stop running after the traditional
jobs. Alhamdulillah, so far we have so many
Muslim doctors. Because I know
when you are young, your mom and dad
will tell you if you don't become a
doctor like your cousin or Amu, you're not
my son anymore. So we have, we ended
up with a lot of doctors and engineers
in the community.
Realtors,
almost every realtor in the city is a
Muslim. We're thinking about becoming 1.
So we have a lot of realtors,
cab drivers,
Most of the cab drivers in the GTR
are Muslim.
Right? So we need to think about progressive
jobs. This is what would change the image
of the community. We need a lot of
people in politics,
Muslim politicians.
We need a lot of Muslims in the
media to represent Islam.
Our voice is not heard
because we don't speak for ourselves. We get
someone else to represent us.
We need people in sports.
We need people in the police force.
We need people like this.
So if you look at one example,
a sports person, like Muhammad Ali, like Imamullah,
he passed away last year.
A single man like Muhammad
Ali,
he did a lot of good to the
community at large, and to the image of
Islam in a positive way, then all imams
in the history of North America combined. I
can give thousands of talks about Islam, but
he can talk for 1 minute in national
TV
about Allah, and about Islam, and about the
fact that he's a good person because of
Islam. This would change millions,
if not hundreds of thousands, if not millions
of lives. One person
in sports.
So we need to change our perspective on
things. So if your child would like to
become a politician, or in the media,
or a business person,
or in sports, or in the police force,
don't stop them. Because this is the new
generation,
and this is what will, change the image
of Islam to the best. We ask Allah
subhanahu wa ta'ala to give us the best
in this life and the best in the
life to come. Yes, alluvannahu wa ta'ala.
So if we can't get the slide inshallah.
I'm gonna conclude with 1 hadith from the
Prophet
to sum up everything I said today. An
Abi MuraylataratiAllahu
Anhu. If I can kindly get you to
move up a little bit, please. These people
are standing outside. Ya'khul Rasool Allah sasalafilhadithil
lazirahu wa baraylaha fisayam Muslim.
A strong believer
is better and more beloved to Allah than
a weak believer. Although there is goodness in
both.
Then the Prophet SAW Alaihi Wasallam said,
seek help in Allah
and don't lose heart. Don't lose hope.
So seek help, put your trust in Allah,
and never give up. Never lose hope in
the mercy of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
And the Prophet
was talking about a Muslim who was stronger
educationally,
physically,
spiritually,
financially. He's talking about all these types of
strength.
So this sums up my talk. I'm gonna
conclude with this announcement.
If you made a pledge in Ramadan to
support the Masjid, Alhamdulillah, the loan is paid
off, but we need to renovate or,
improve the parking lot, and also the, the
roof of the Masjid. It's leaking everywhere. Make
sure you fulfill your pledge inshallah.
We need to upgrade
Make8 Islamic Academy, the school owned by this
masjid, and there is a way to improve
the condition of the school and put it
on the map as one of the finest
schools in Canada inshallah.
There are 10 doors, or actually 10 schoolrooms
in the school.
If someone in this community, or you know
someone who can donate 25,000
to the school to upgrade it, to improve
the condition of the students and the staff,
Then you will get the following.
One school room
or classroom will be named after you or
your family,
and you'll get a tax receipt, tax receipt
for the whole amount,
and your name will be added to the
wall of honor,
and you'll get a free salah spot in
this masjid
along with many other benefits, inshallah. So if
you are able to donate 25,000 and get
all these benefits,
classroom named after you and your family, tax
receipts to be added to the wall of
honor, are free salaswat in this masjid, and
your business would be advertised in our facilities
forever.
Then, insha Allah, this is something you can
think about. If you are not able, you
you can find someone insha Allah who can
help, and you have a whole year to
pay. If you give the masjid $2,000
a month, then you will fulfill your obligation
by the end of next,
by the end of the year, inshallah. We
ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to reward you
immensely for your contributions, and we ask Allah
subhanahu wa ta'ala to give a rissah to
Islam and Muslims.
