So,
a few years ago, this brother came to
take Shahadah in the Masjid. So,
I used to sit with him and answer
questions and and we talk and, he had
an issue with beer, alcohol.
And he also had an issue with wheat.
I know it is now being legalized.
So,
weed and beer.
So eventually we, I told him inshaAllah, if
you take shahara, this will help you to
become a better person and quit weed and
beer.
So Alhamdulillah, he decided to come for Jummah.
So I gave footba and after Jum'ah he
gave Shahada, Alhamdulillah.
So, people hugged him and kissed him and
he sat there and I made the announcements.
No, no, no, no, no, I made all
the announcements and after,
after the announcements he came to me and
he said, I thought you guys you don't
do weed and you don't drink beer. And
all you said in the announcements was beer
and weed.
I said, what are you talking about? Then
I remembered
in the announcement I was talking about
Tajweed
Halakha.
So he confused that for weed, and after
he took shahara, and I said Masha Allah
the brother took shahara and takbir. So beer,
he took beer for takbir, so big confusion.
So
today inshallah, I'm gonna talk I'll continue the
discussion about the hikmah of Allah Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala, Al Hakim.
When Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala tells us in
the Quran, do something or don't do something,
you know, for sure this is the best
for you.
If you have a phone,
or a fridge, or a TV, or an
iPad, it usually comes with
the manual. And in the manual, the manufacturer,
the person who made that machine or that
equipment,
tells you this is the best way to
do it and the best way to use
this machine to be able to function in
the best way.
So say for example, when you, get a
new phone, an iPhone or Samsung, they tell
you
don't charge a phone
overnight. Like once it is 100%, you have
to take it out of the charger. Or
you're actually
reducing the capacity
or the life of the battery. Right? So
you have to listen to them because they
know they are the ones who created this
bone, so they know.
We came with a manual and this manual
is the Quran, and the Sunnah of Muhammad
which explains the Quran. So Allah Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala is your manufacturer.
It tells you do things this way, don't
do this because this is best for you.
So now I know that Allah Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala is my Creator,
and with His Hikmah, and with His Knowledge,
He knows what is best for me, and
what is not best for me.
Sometimes SubhanAllah, we out of ignorance and lack
of wisdom, we do things that are detrimental
to us. They destroy us.
Just like when a little kid, he sees
a snow,
you know, a snake.
If you, when you're an old half or
2 year old kid, they see a snake,
they want to go and catch a snake
and play with it and hug it, and
they don't know that the snake is poisonous.
Do they do this because they are brave?
Nope, they do it out of ignorance. So
So sometimes we do exactly the same thing
we do things that destroy us in dunya,
and would put us in a bad place
in akhirah out of ignorance.
It is not about bravery. If you do
drugs,
if you smoke weed,
if you drink, if you date this does
not mean you're a man, or you are
strong and brave. It means you're ignorant.
You're not mindful of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala.
You don't have taqwa.
If Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala says don't do
something, we know that
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala wants what is best
for you, and this is out of his
Hikma. But human beings, when they make laws,
interest has to be there.
If they legalize something haram, it means they
have interest in there. They, you'll pay taxes
for example, I'm gonna get into this in
a second.
Back in the 1920s
in the US, during the Great Depression,
they tried to make alcohol illegal in the
US,
for many years.
And they had the police behind them, they
had the army behind them, the lawmakers behind
them, and
thousands of people went to jail because they
couldn't quit alcohol.
1,000,000 of dollars were paid in fines. They
couldn't do it.
In the Muslim community,
in the last 1500 years,
the great majority of the 1,600,000,000
Muslims who live today,
they don't drink because of a man who
was living in the desert 1500 years ago,
who couldn't read, he couldn't write, he didn't
have any degrees from Yale or Harvard, he
didn't have a police behind him, he didn't
have an army behind him. He says don't
do it man, so we quit. We don't
we're not doing anything anymore.
And this is the power of the hikmah
of Allah
We know that when Muhammad SAW said don't
do it, and when Allah SAW said in
the Quran don't do it, because this is
the best for us.
Now, I know marijuana was illegal at some
point, now it is legal.
And maybe, if a conservative,
party is elected, if someone from the conservative
party is elected, maybe marijuana will be illegal
again.
Abortion used to be illegal, now it is
becoming legal.
And, and so on and so forth.
Same * marriage, illegal, now it is becoming
legal. So we change things. Apartheid used to
be legal.
In the US, blacks and whites couldn't sit
in the same bus or eat in the
same restaurant.
Now this is illegal. Right? But it used
to be the law in the in the
1930s 40s. By law, you cannot eat in
the same place.
So people always change their mind based on
interest. What is,
beneficial to them? It doesn't have anything to
do with morality or lack of morality, and
so on and so forth. The same is
for prostitution,
same for *.
If a kid if someone has a relationship
with their sister or mother, it is legal
in some Western societies.
Because they consider this freedom,
but it is illegal in some other Western
societies.
Euthanasia.
They call it mercy killing. If someone has
an acute illness, they're suffering, they give the
right to their doctor to kill them. It
is legal in some Western societies, it is
illegal in some other Western societies. Even within
the West, they still have disagreements, what is
morally acceptable, and what is not morally acceptable.
If Allah
says, Pork is haram, pork is haram. I
don't have to read any academic
papers
on about the dangers of eating pork. I
know Allah knows me better than I know
myself. If Allah says that Iba is haram,
I don't do it. Iba because I know
Allah says, No, khalas, I'm not gonna do
it, it is not good for me. I
don't have to read all these things. And
now SubhanAllah, in Japan they say, if you
want
the economy to bloom, and if you want
to be successful,
the interest rate has to be 0.
So they now they find out.
Now they say, don't drink.
Or if the companies they say, drink responsibly.
They just like shoot yourself in the head
responsibly.
Right? It is either good for you or
bad for you. Tobacco companies. They allow it
because you pay taxes. Right? So it's good
for the economy. But they don't know that
they have to spend 1,000,000,000 of dollars in
the medical,
you know,
insurance or whatever they call it to cover
for the, you know, for all the damage
that cigarettes caused. And SubhanAllah,
some of us Muslims,
out of the lack of hikman, this is
the last thing I do.
We
try to do Haram things, although Allah said
they are haram, and we try to find
an excuse to make them halal.
The best example.
I know some brothers, they always come to
me, and they say they have a store
or convenience store, and they sell pork, and
they sell alcohol.
And I said man, it's haram. Allah says
it's haram in the Quran. Alcohol is haram,
weed is haram, this is haram, tell us
it's haram. You don't ask me. If Allah
says it's haram, don't ask me.
They say but brother, brother listen.
We don't sell it to Muslims, so it
has to be halal.
Oh man.
Do we have any Somalis in the room?
Raise your hand if you're Somali.
Masha Allah. Love you, I love you.
In Somali, they say,
which means basically, I don't eat dead meat.
I only drink the soup of dead meat.
I I don't eat,
you know, the pork. I don't drink alcohol.
I just sell it to non Muslims. And
the prophet says if something is haram, Allah
says something is haram. The income coming from
the haram is also haram. Just like the
soup coming out of Haram, meat is also
Haram. So I like this saying from, you
know, the Somali culture, and SubhanAllah, if we
try to justify
like,
this guy, he said that, his son told
him you know dad my I heard the
Sheikh in the Masjid he said that pork
is haram, you shouldn't sell it in your
store.
And the father said no no no no,
don't listen to me. No no no, I'm
not selling it to Muslims, I'm selling it
to non Muslims. The same father came to
me, and he said after 15 years my
son is now dating a girl from high
school, and I said, son, dating is haram.
And his son said, you know what? I'm
not dating a Muslim girl.
Same. So it's gonna come back to you.
So if Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala says something
is halal, it is halal till the end
of time. If he says something is haram,
it's always haram.
Right? But in
other systems,
what is halal? Next day can be a
Haram, what is legal can be illegal. But
for Allah, what is Haram? It's always Haram,
what is right is always right. And this
is the Hikmah of Allah Subhana Wa Ta'la.
We'll continue tomorrow InshaAllah. ShazakAllah
So now the question for last night
