Mustafa Abu Rayyan – S 01 Ep 06 Seerah The Rebuilding Of The KaBah And Prophethood
AI: Summary ©
The Prophet has dreamed of something happening, and he is preparing for the beginning of the Prophet's calendar. The Prophet is preparing for the beginning of the calendar, and he is preparing for the beginning of the calendar. The Prophet is preparing for the beginning of the calendar, and he is preparing for the beginning of the calendar.

Inshallah ta'ala, after praising Allah subhanahu wa
ta'ala, we are here again for what
I believe to be our sixth session or
lesson of the seerah of our beloved Masjid
al-Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa ala alihi wa
sallam.
And how fortunate are we to be able
to gather, mentioning our beloved Prophet sallallahu alayhi
wa sallam and learning about his beautiful life.
And before I start the class, I want
to mention that this program, which is called
al-bina' al-'ilmi as you can see behind
me, al-bina' al-'ilmi, the word bina' means
to build.
The word bina' means to build.
And the point of not just this lecture
series, but the other ones that happen as
well, on Mondays we have the fiqh, and
on Wednesdays we have fiqh, and on Fridays
we conclude with the seerah of the Prophet
sallallahu alayhi wa sallam.
This whole program was meant to build your
iman, your knowledge, and your foundation.
And I highly encourage you not to only
attend this session, but try and attend those
sessions as well.
And if you cannot attend them physically, that
you at least view those lectures inshallah ta
'ala, because this program as a whole will
build you up, and you will inshallah ta
'ala enjoy a higher and better understanding.
As we come to the end of this
first season if you will, because we split
the program into different sessions or seasons if
you will, and we are coming to the
end, seven sessions, and then there is a
week break, and then we will continue inshallah
ta'ala.
And we will continue on going.
This is inshallah ta'ala the first, if
you will, part, the first season of Al
-Binal Ilmi that is about to finish.
This is our second last week.
Next week will be our last week.
And then we will have a short break.
During that break, the week, the last week
of October, that break, we will have a
celebratory session where inshallah ta'ala many of
you are invited to come if you are
following the program.
And we will also have a quiz to
test our knowledge.
And there will be prizes as well.
I encourage you all to come.
And not only will it be a time
for you to meet the instructors in a
more relaxed setting, get to know each other,
enjoy some food, and test our knowledge inshallah
ta'ala.
You will see some of the advertisements coming
out soon, bi-idni Allah al-bari.
But alhamdulillah, it is because of Allah that
all good things are completed.
The program is going on for a year
though, don't get me wrong inshallah ta'ala.
It's just that the first part is about
to be concluded.
Ta'ib, we finished the marriage of the
Prophet ﷺ and we got introduced to some
of his children.
And we are now in the city of
Mecca.
The Prophet ﷺ is now an established man
with a household and a family.
And he is growing and becoming a key
member of the community.
He is known as a tradesman, a family
man, an honest man, a trustworthy man.
And he is getting closer and closer to
that key moment in his life where Allah
will make him the final Prophet.
But we are not there yet.
We are in a week.
Today I want to showcase or highlight some
more key moments in the Prophet's life that
were nearing the time he became a Prophet
that will tell us a lot about him
as a character, him as a human being,
him as a person ﷺ.
The first incident I want to talk about
is the relationship between the Prophet ﷺ and
a great companion called Zayd ibn Harithah.
Zayd ibn Harithah.
Zayd is the only companion of the Prophet
that is mentioned in the Qur'an by
name.
Zayd is the only companion of the Prophet
that is mentioned in the Qur'an by
name.
Who can tell me what surah?
Surah al-Ihzab.
You mentioned the surah, you have to read
the ayah now.
فَلَمَّا قَضَى زَيْدٌ مِّنْهَا وَطَرًا زَوَّجْنَاكَهَا Zayd is
mentioned in the Qur'an.
Can you imagine how Allah mentioned in the
Qur'an until the Day of Judgment his
name will be mentioned?
And inshallah ta'ala, why is his name
mentioned?
We'll cover that inshallah ta'ala.
You'll find that later.
Zayd will be someone that will feature a
lot in the surah.
We will meet him again.
But how does he and the Prophet ﷺ
have a relationship and where did that come
from?
The Prophet ﷺ, remember how he married Khadija
bint Khawajid?
And we covered that last week.
Khadija رضي الله عنها Before she even meets
the Prophet, she requested from her nephew to
bring her someone that could help her around
her house and the household and be someone
that can serve the family.
And the culture in Arabia and in Mecca
was that the concept of servitude and slavery
existed.
There were markets for people.
There were markets where people will be purchased
because that concept did not go away from
humanity at large until actually very recently.
So anyway, there used to be a marketplace
called Okav.
And in this place, people that will be
captives of war, so the two tribes will
go to war, they'll capture people, and some
of them would be men, women, children, and
then they will take them, and then they
would go and they would sell them to
other people.
This was a culture that existed.
So the nephew of Khadija brings her a
young boy that they found.
And when you see someone that has probably
been either stolen or kidnapped or their family
killed in a war, and now they are
in this marketplace and people are purchasing them,
then to take that person in is a
kindness.
Is it not?
So this young man, Zayd by the way,
was taken in by Khadija.
How did he end up there?
Where is his mother?
Where is his father?
How did Zayd end up in Mecca?
He was not even from Mecca.
He was from the Qahtani tribes that originate
from Yemen.
How did he end up here and why
is he in Mecca being sold?
And how did he end up in Khadija's
household?
Zayd, his father and his mother were traveling.
They were attacked by some bandits and then
Zayd was kidnapped and stolen and they wanted
to make quick money from this so they
sold him in the marketplace in Mecca.
Who can tell me of a prophet that
something similar happened where he was found and
immediately sold to someone?
Which prophet?
Yes?
Prophet Yusuf alayhi salam.
Prophet Yusuf alayhi salam.
And in the end, did Prophet Yusuf end
up in a good place or a bad
place?
In the end, a very good place.
But these things happen.
Zayd's story is actually quite similar to the
story of Yusuf alayhi salam.
So now he's a boy, maybe 8 years
old, in the marketplace in Mecca and then
Hakim ibn Hizam ibn Khuwaylid, he purchases him
and brings him to Khadija.
So he lives with Khadija, helps her around,
he lives with her.
He's married to the Prophet Yusuf alayhi salam
and Zayd is with her.
Then she gifts Zayd to the Prophet Yusuf
alayhi salam.
Now he is yours.
Zayd and the Prophet are not that far
off in age.
There's only a 10 year age gap.
So how old was the Prophet when he
married Khadija?
How old was he?
25.
So how old would Zayd be by this
time?
15.
And how old was he when he was
brought into Khadija's home?
Around 8 or 9.
So he was now with her for many
years.
Then Zayd and the Prophet Yusuf alayhi salam
are inseparable.
He treats him like his own son.
He's part of the family.
And he hasn't seen his mother or father
for many years now.
He grew up in Mecca, learned the culture
of Mecca, that's it.
This is his life now.
And how lucky was he to be in
the home of the greatest man, Muhammad salallahu
alayhi wa sallam.
Zayd, his father all this time has been
looking for him.
Can you imagine the pain of a father?
And he used to sing poetry.
Because when you sing poetry, other people will
memorize it and they will sing it.
Maybe someday, somewhere, Zayd will hear that his
father is looking for him.
For years.
And one day, Haritha's brother, Zayd's uncle is
in Mecca.
He happens to be in Mecca.
And he sees Zayd.
And he recognizes his future.
This is my nephew.
He goes to his brother and tells him,
I found your son.
He's in Mecca.
And he is with a man.
He services a man called Muhammad ibn Abdullah
ibn Abdul Mutalib.
Let's go, get your son back.
The joy of Harith.
He comes to Mecca immediately.
Goes straight to the Prophet ﷺ.
Of course, he figures out who the Prophet
is.
And he says, Oh Muhammad, you are the
grandson of Abdul Mutalib.
Your family is known for their generosity, their
kindness.
He starts praising the Prophet ﷺ, who is
not a prophet by the way.
He says, of course you understand.
He says, I'll give you any money that
you want.
To ransom me.
I want my son.
Please.
Name your price.
I want my son back.
The Prophet ﷺ says, I have a better
proposition for you.
Keep your money.
We'll call Zayd.
We'll give him the option.
If he wants to go with you, I'm
not going to stop him.
As long as he confirms that you truly
are his father and you are his uncle.
So Zayd is called.
Zayd comes.
And he sees his father.
And he sees his uncle.
He recognizes him immediately.
And then the Prophet ﷺ says, Zayd, you're
free to go with your family if you
want.
You're free to go with your family if
you want.
Question.
Why didn't the Prophet ﷺ say, Go with
your family.
That's it.
Go with your dad.
Why did he say?
Why did he give him the choice?
It's a very important lesson in there.
The Prophet ﷺ does not want to make
Zayd feel that he's unwanted by him.
You can go with your family if you
want.
But there's always a place and a home
for you here.
We always talk about the Prophet's character.
And we also all know that the character
of the Prophet became even better when Allah
revealed the Quran upon him.
Because the Prophet's character would be like the
Quran.
Like when his wife Aisha was asked one
time, Tell us about the Prophet.
What was he like?
What was his character like?
She said, The Prophet's character was the Quran.
Meaning he was a living embodiment of the
Quran.
But wait a minute.
The Quran is not revealed yet.
So where is he getting this blessed and
beautiful character from?
That's just all him ﷺ.
He was the epitome of kindness, of justice,
of fairness, of compassion before the Quran was
revealed.
And when the Quran is revealed, all of
that is cranked to 11 as they say.
It becomes even more.
Literally the best person on earth.
So Zayd is standing there.
His long lost family are there.
His adopted family is here.
But at that time Zayd was not officially
adopted by the Prophet.
He wasn't Zayd the son of Muhammad.
He was just Zayd, that boy that was
purchased many years ago and just lived with
him.
His father asked him a very important question.
Before I get to that, Zayd says, I
want to stay with Muhammad.
I want you to think about that.
For him to choose Muhammad ﷺ over his
own father and his own uncle.
What kind of experience must he have had
with the Prophet ﷺ?
He says, I want to stay with Muhammad.
And his father, of course, upset.
He says, Are you going to choose servitude?
You're not this man's son.
You're his servant.
Are you going to choose that over being
a free man?
And then he says, how does he treat
you?
And Zayd says, Wallahi he treats me better
than his own children.
He treats me better than his own family.
The Prophet is observing this conversation.
And he sees that Zayd made the decision
to stay with him.
And he sees the pain in his father's
eyes.
Part of that pain was the social standing
of Zayd.
Zayd in Mecca will always be known as
that boy that was bought.
Right?
So the Prophet wanted to remedy that.
And he wanted to show his commitment to
Zayd to Zayd's father, Haritha.
So he went to the Kaaba.
Gathered the people.
Stood at the Kaaba and said, let everyone
hear me.
From now on, this young man, Zayd, is
my son.
And his name is Zayd Ibn Muhammad.
Haritha.
If he dies, I inherit him.
If I die, he inherits me.
He is from now on, Zayd Ibn Muhammad.
That caused some ease to his father.
Because now his son is not of low
social standing anymore.
It is confirmed.
He is truly adopted into the family of
Abdul Muttalib.
Zayd Ibn Muhammad Abdul Muttalib.
Zayd was happy to stay with the Prophet
ﷺ.
Now, Zayd was known as Zayd the son
of Muhammad for a very long time.
Zayd the son of Muhammad.
And he was considered to be the adoptive
son of the Prophet.
And Haritha, when he saw his son made
a decision, he accepted it.
Zayd ended up being one of the greatest
companions of the Prophet ﷺ.
He is one of the first Muslims.
Some say he was the earliest Muslim.
The moment the Prophet ﷺ brings the message
of Islam, Zayd becomes a Muslim.
Zayd was with the Prophet ﷺ on the
most difficult day of the Prophet's life.
There is a hadith in Bukhari, where Aisha
ﷺ asked the Prophet, O Messenger of Allah,
what is the day of Uhud?
By the way, we will get to Uhud.
We will have a whole lecture dedicated to
that.
But on the day of the battle of
Uhud, O Messenger of Allah, was that the
most difficult day of your life?
The day they scarred your face?
The day they broke your teeth?
The day they killed your uncle?
The day 70 of your companions?
Was that the most difficult day of your
life?
And the Prophet ﷺ said, Aisha, Wallahi, it
wasn't.
There was a day that was even more
difficult.
Can you imagine a day more difficult than
that day?
The day Hamza was killed?
And so many of the Sahaba were killed?
The Prophet ﷺ said, it was the day
that I travelled to Ta'if.
The city to Ta'if.
And we will do a whole lecture on
just this incident, inshallah ta'ala, in a
few weeks time.
The day I went to Ta'if, and
they stoned the Prophet ﷺ, and they chased
him away.
And Angel Jibreel came down, and it's a
famous story, with the Prophet's feet bled.
That very difficult day, with the Prophet, and
that day, who was with the Prophet ﷺ,
shielding him from those stones, travelling with him
all the way to Ta'if, it was
Zayd.
It was Zayd.
Zayd ibn Harithah was such a key companion
of the Prophet ﷺ, that even after the
Hijrah, so many expeditions and battles, the Prophet
would make Zayd the commander.
Some of the Sahaba said, if Zayd was
alive when the Prophet died, or when Abu
Bakr died, he may have been considered to
be a Khalifa.
That's how important Zayd is.
Zayd, look at how he ended up in
the Prophet's house.
A young boy that was kidnapped, that ends
up in Mecca, comes to the Prophet's home,
and is loved by the Prophet so much,
that he becomes the son of the Prophet
ﷺ.
Now, what's interesting about Zayd is, we don't
call him Zayd ibn Muhammad anymore.
We call him Zayd ibn Harithah.
Why?
Because Allah revealed ayaat in the Qur'an,
where the concept of adoption was revoked, and
in its place, was fostering.
So in Islam, we don't adopt, we foster.
And Allah SWT says in Surah Al-Ahzab,
أُدْعُوهُمْ لِآبَائِهِمْ هُوَ أَقْصَدُ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ From now
on, a child, if you adopt a child,
if you take care of a child, you
don't give your name to that child.
You respect the father, and they will always
keep the names of their fathers.
So when that ayah was revealed, Allah SWT
says, أُدْعُوهُمْ لِآبَائِهِمْ Call them by their father's
names.
He stopped being Zayd ibn Muhammad, and became
Zayd ibn Harithah again.
But in spirit, he was always known as
the son of the Prophet ﷺ.
And he was so beloved to the Prophet.
The Prophet loved him so much, and everyone
knew that.
And Zayd, ended up, by the way, Zayd
ended up becoming someone of big social standing,
even in Quraysh, and he married a nobleman
from Quraysh.
But later on in his life, he actually
married someone we've already met.
This is quite fascinating.
whom we already met in our previous lectures,
and Zayd ended up being married.
And that's Ummu Ayman.
Now Ummu Ayman, Ummu Ayman was there when
the Prophet was born.
And she was one of the young girls
that were there that helped raise the Prophet
ﷺ.
Ummu Ayman.
Ummu Ayman is among the early Muslims as
well, and she was always there with the
Prophet ﷺ.
Then Zayd comes into, and what's the age
difference between Zayd and Ummu Ayman?
It's quite big.
It could be 20 years.
But if we go with the narration that
Khadija and the Prophet ﷺ, their age gap
was also quite substantial, wasn't it?
In any case, one day the Prophet ﷺ
said that Ummu Ayman is from the woman
of Jannah.
And Zayd wanted that barakah, so he ended
up marrying Ummu Ayman, and they had a
child, and that child was called Osama.
Osama ibn Zayd.
Some of you may have heard of this
companion.
Now Osama ibn Zayd, this young boy, was
the son of Zayd and Ummu Ayman.
And Osama, the Prophet ﷺ, when you hear
the stories of Hassan and Hussain jumping on
the Prophet ﷺ and playing with him, Osama
was in that mix of those children that
the Prophet ﷺ loved and played with.
And Osama was so special actually.
So now we're talking about Zayd's son, Osama.
Osama ibn Zayd.
He was so special that there was an
incident that happened during the time of the
Prophet ﷺ.
So now I'm telling you an incident that
happened later in the Prophet's life.
We'll come back to early Makkah.
And that was that there was a noble
woman from Quraysh that stole.
And when you steal, there is a penalty.
If you steal a certain amount, there's a
penalty.
What happens?
You guys all know what happens, right?
The thief, when it's proven that they've stolen,
their hand is removed.
Quraysh, and some of the Sahaba, felt that,
oh, this woman from Bani Makhzum, maybe she
should be given another chance.
It's a bit awkward.
It's a bit of a burden.
So then some of the Sahaba felt like,
who can we send the Prophet to speak
to the Prophet who can maybe have a
case for her?
And they asked, who does the Prophet ﷺ
love the most?
They sent Osama.
Osama, go speak to the Prophet.
Osama, who was then a young boy, goes
to the Prophet ﷺ, and says, maybe this
time the Prophet became upset.
My point is, the Prophet became upset.
The people that came before you, Allah punished
them because they had a certain set of
rules for the rich and powerful, and a
set of rules for the weak and the
poor.
This is not Islam.
The rules apply to everybody.
But the point I was trying to share
with you in that hadith, and then the
Prophet ﷺ even said, if even my daughter
would steal, I would put the head on
her as well.
The Prophet ﷺ, his justice was based on
the Qur'an, of course.
But what is the point here?
That Zayd's son is being sent to the
Prophet ﷺ because everyone feels like, wait, who
do we know that the Prophet ﷺ when
he listens to, the Prophet ﷺ is going
to appreciate and have his heir, and it
was Osama, the son of Zayd.
Because the Prophet ﷺ is almost like his
own grandchild ﷺ.
So that's Zayd ibn Harithah, which is why
if you're asked, who was the adoptive son
of the Prophet, what's the answer?
Zayd ibn Harithah.
And if you're told, who is the one
companion that's mentioned in the Qur'an, what
are you going to say?
Zayd ibn Harithah.
And if you're told, which companion was with
the Prophet in his most difficult day in
his life, what are you going to say?
Zayd ibn Harithah.
The men and the women around the Messenger
ﷺ.
Another point of reflection our brothers, Zayd wanted
to be with the Prophet, and he said
something very powerful to his father.
When his father said to him, why?
Isn't that a fair question?
Why?
He said, oh my father, I see in
him something special.
He didn't even know he was going to
be a Prophet.
He said, I see in him something special.
I want to be with him.
I want to be a companion of the
Prophet ﷺ.
So, that's also how special the Qadar of
Allah is.
Allah says in the Qur'an, Perhaps you
may dislike something, but it is better for
you.
For Zayd to be kidnapped and taken away
from his family.
Is that a good thing or a bad
thing?
It's a bad thing.
But it end up being a good thing
for him, yes or no?
Yes, he end up being in the home
of the Messenger ﷺ.
So that's one major incident that highlighted the
Prophet ﷺ before he became a Prophet.
You feel his character.
How many human beings can be so kind,
so compassionate, so fair, so, have such a
character, impress themselves on someone to the point
where they prefer them over their own family.
That's what the Prophet ﷺ was.
I want to show you another story.
And this story also solidifies the Prophet's intellect,
character, position in Mecca.
And that was the Meccans, as I mentioned
before, they, they respected the Kaaba.
And what major incident happened not too long
ago, 30 something years ago, the invasion of
Abraha and the attempt to destroy the Kaaba.
And then Allah protected the Kaaba in a
miraculous way by sending the birth of Surah
Al-Fil.
We covered this.
So the Kaaba now, its sanctity and sacredness
is even greater.
Not only that, of course, they would have
people visit it and pay respect to it.
And it was homage to Prophet Ibrahim ﷺ
and all of this.
A flood happened.
Flood, compromised the foundations of the Kaaba and
the wall started to crumble.
Some aspect of it started to crumble.
Some of the ruwayat mentioned that there is
a woman that was burning incense and this
fire, some of the aspects of the Kaaba
caught fire, the wood, and then it led
to the compromising and destruction of certain parts
of the Kaaba, the roof and other areas
to the point where Quraysh realized we have
to rebuild the Kaaba.
We have to rebuild the Kaaba and bring
it to its glory.
Now, Quraysh understood something.
They understood that the Kaaba is special and
it is different.
You can't just willy-nilly build it.
You have to use the purest form of
wealth.
They understood this.
So they started to petition to gather money
to purchase the materials to build the Kaaba
and they made a condition that the money
has to be money that doesn't come from
a corrupt source.
Right?
This is Quraysh.
They are not good people.
They are mushrikun.
They are polytheists.
They are oppressors and you'll see how evil
they are when the prophet becomes a prophet
yet they had certain principles.
So they said, made a condition that Kaaba
is too pure for us to use the
wealth gained from oppression and theft.
Anyone, if you stole, we don't want your
money.
Get the money that you didn't steal.
Earn it in a righteous way.
So then they started to collect.
Some of the books of Sira mentioned another
incident that happened and that was that the
Caesar of Rome sent a ship and this
ship was traveling on the sea and there
was a shipwreck and a lot of marble
and wood and things that it was carrying
ended up where Jeddah is right now.
And very important material was being sold there
and this money was used to purchase those
materials that ended up being used to rebuild
the Kaaba.
Subhanallah.
Again, the Qadr of Allah that the material
by which the Kaaba was being rebuilt came
all the way from the Roman Empire.
Some of its marble and the wood that
they were using.
So now, they've started gathering and they want
to build it.
To build the Kaaba you have to first
take it apart.
Because not all of the walls came down.
To start to rebuild it you have to
take it apart.
The last time someone attempted to destroy the
Kaaba what happened to them?
Yes?
And they were destroyed.
Very questioning.
Hassan, Hassan, you are very smart.
In fact, I can easily say Mashallah, you're
one of my smartest students.
May Allah bless you.
Is your father here?
Is your mother here?
He came by himself.
If that is outside may Allah bless your
mother and father.
Say Ameen.
Okay.
The last time someone attempted to take apart
the Kaaba we know what happened to them.
Who among Qoraysh is going to dare to
grab an axe and take the Kaaba apart?
They were too scared.
So now, okay, we have the material.
We know what to do.
We have the plan.
Who's going to touch the Kaaba?
They were too scared of the wrath of
Allah.
Because the Kaaba is special.
Now, amongst them was a man called Al
-Walid ibn Mughirah.
Particularly nasty individual who would be a fierce
enemy of the Prophet.
And he had a very brazen personality.
He was like, I'll do it.
He said, we are not trying to destroy
it.
We are trying to rebuild it.
I'll do it.
So he grabbed his axe and he started
hitting it.
All of Qoraysh saying, what will happen to
him?
Will lightning come from the sky?
What will happen to this person?
So then he hit it once or twice.
Maybe a rock or one or two came
off.
And then they said, Enough.
Let's stop.
Prophet of the night will sleep tonight.
We'll see what happens to Al-Walid.
If Al-Walid dies or some sickness happens
to him or he gets cursed, then we
know.
Don't touch the Kaaba.
The morning they woke up.
They checked.
Al-Walid is fine.
So they said, Okay, so now the construction
project can begin.
So they would bring some of the core
stones and rocks that were being built.
They would bring it from a mountain nearby
called Abu Qubais.
Jabal Abu Qubais.
One of the mountains in Mecca.
And they would go in pairs.
In Bukhari, the Prophet of the night mentioned
that him and his uncle Abbas were together
paired to go and get those rocks.
And those rocks they had sharp edges and
they were difficult.
And when you're carrying them they could harm
you.
But there they were walking with it.
And then Abbas رضي الله عنه the Prophet's
uncle he suggested to the Prophet, Is he
a prophet yet by the way this time?
He's not.
He's not a prophet yet.
He's about 35 years old around this time.
Five years later is when he will become
what?
A messenger of Allah سبحانه وتعالى.
Abbas suggested to the Prophet why don't we
take off our why don't we raise our
lower garment up our lower garment our Izhar
and put it on our our shoulder so
that it protects us from the pain of
what?
Of the rocks.
And then that would mean that some of
the Aura the thighs the upper thighs would
be what?
Exposed.
And Abbas said, when we see people we
lower it down.
When we see people we lower it down.
But for now it's better than being what?
Feeling the pain.
So this hadith in Bukhari the Prophet said
I attempted to do it.
I grabbed the bottom of my Izhar and
I tried to do it and then the
Prophet fainted.
He said, I fainted.
And I heard don't take off your lower
garment.
And since that day the Prophet's Aura was
never he never seen.
Allahu Akbar.
That's what the hadith mentions.
That the Prophet this was Allah instilling in
him exemplary character that you are different.
You are treated in a higher capacity.
So he didn't do it.
The narration is in Bukhari.
So anyway they brought the rocks and the
construction started.
And everything is smooth.
Everyone is happy.
They are building the Kaaba.
Among the things that happened was and this
is very important and a lot of people
don't understand this.
Raise your hand if you've seen the Kaaba.
Not just visit but even on screen.
Raise your hand if you've seen the Kaaba.
On screen or in real life.
So that's most of us if not all
of us.
Alhamdulillah.
Alhamdulillah.
Have you seen an area in the Kaaba
that it's like a semicircle that people go
in.
Have you seen that?
Okay.
Now who here let me ask you a
question.
Who here has prayed inside the Kaaba?
You prayed inside the Kaaba?
You went inside the Kaaba?
Inside.
I'm asking inside.
Who prayed inside the Kaaba?
Alright.
Who among you prayed in that area that
I'm talking about?
Has anyone managed to pray in there?
Then my brothers you've prayed inside the Kaaba.
My brothers you've prayed inside.
A lot of people don't know this by
the way.
This is very important information.
You know when you're standing in the Hijr
Ismail.
You're standing inside the Kaaba.
You're standing inside the Kaaba.
So if the Kaaba is imagine up to
the middle of the of the stable.
If this is the Kaaba you have over
here an area that people can go into.
Usually has doors and there's no space in
it.
This is part of the Kaaba and you're
literally standing inside the Kaaba.
Because the Kaaba was built on the foundations
that Ibrahim set.
And the foundations of Ibrahim at this moment
what you see in the Kaaba the actual
Kaaba that you see that is built is
not all of the Kaaba.
This whole area that is outside of it
used to be inside and the wall would
extend there.
But when Quraish started to rebuild they did
not have enough quote unquote halal money to
gather enough materials to include the whole Kaaba.
So they built it up to the point
that you see now.
They built up to that point.
And then they just marked the rest.
Do you understand?
So technically that area is it outside the
Kaaba or inside the Kaaba?
Inside the Kaaba.
So if someone says I would like to
have a chance to get inside the Kaaba
just go there inshallah ta'ala.
Now so they that's what they did so
that's how so they actually made the Kaaba
smaller.
They made the Kaaba smaller.
Another thing that they did was they raised
the lower foundation of the Kaaba to the
point where the door to get to the
door you had to climb the stairs.
But when Prophet Ibrahim built it the door
was on the ground.
You could just walk in.
And there were two doors.
So you can walk in and out.
And the Kaaba was just for everyone to
pray inside of it to pray outside of
it it was perfectly fine.
The whole area is blessed.
But what did Quraysh do?
They raised it up and they made a
door and they closed the door to add
more prestige and to say only who we
allow enters it.
These were some of the decisions that they
were made.
The Prophet ﷺ years later after the conquest
of Mecca he says to his wife Aisha
if I wasn't afraid of the recently converted
people to think that what I am doing
is sacrilegious and blasphemous by taking the Kaaba
apart I would take it apart and build
on the right foundations.
And I would bring the door down to
the level the Prophet Ibrahim brought it down.
He wanted to turn the Kaaba back to
the way it usually was.
But the Prophet didn't do it because he
felt like a lot of people that entered
Islam recently they wouldn't get it.
I'll give you an example now.
Today if Saudi Arabia decides to take apart
the Kaaba and to say what would happen
do you think in the world?
Protests everywhere right?
Astaghfirullah.
People wouldn't understand it.
Now I'm not saying it should be done.
But the point is the Prophet wanted to
do it but he didn't do it because
he felt that it may lead to worse
consequences.
What is the point here for you guys
to understand that the Kaaba is all of
it not just the area that is built.
That's the main point.
Now let's go back to the story.
They're building the Kaaba.
Each sub-tribe of Quraysh is assigned an
area.
And you're honored.
You can build this part.
You can build that part.
You can build this part.
Because everybody wanted to participate because everyone wants
their tribe to have the honor of being
the tribe that helped rebuild the Bayt of
Allah.
So far so good?
Then as they're building they get to the
bit of the black stone.
The Hajr al-Aswad.
And when they get to the Hajr al
-Aswad who gets the honor to put the
Hajr al-Aswad in its place?
Is it going to be the Bayt al
-Makhzoum?
Or the Bani Ad-Din Munaf?
Or is it going to be the Bani
Abd-Dar?
Which of us will have that honor?
And they started to argue amongst themselves.
Yes, you guys have questions or you want
to answer?
You want to answer?
Go ahead.
What do you want to answer?
Jazakallah.
What's your name?
Ismail.
Ismail, do I have your permission to tell
the story you just told me to everyone?
Jazakallah khair Ismail.
Warakallahu feekum.
It's okay.
You get your turn.
Don't worry.
What's your name?
Muhammad, I'm coming to you.
Inshallah ta'ala.
Don't worry.
Ismail just told us the story.
I'll just re-share with you guys.
Warakallahu feekum.
So, the tribes they started to argue.
You are not more deserving than me to
put the black stone in and it gets
really heated to the point where they start
saying we are willing to die over this
and we are willing to go to war
over this and the Quraysh got to a
stage where maybe it's this incident that finally
breaks us apart.
Breaks us apart.
Until a man called Abu Umayyah who was
the oldest man from Quraysh he was from
the Makhzum tribe.
He said, I've got a solution guys.
Everyone calm down.
How about this?
How about we just agree literally the first
person that walks into the masjid into the
masjid the first person that walks in decides
what needs to be done.
It's random.
We don't know who's it's gonna be.
It may be from your tribe.
It may be from my tribe.
How about that?
He said, okay, that's fine.
And they're waiting.
Who's it going to be?
Who do you guys think it was?
Yes?
It was Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
A 35 year old Rasulullah ﷺ walks in
and he sees that everyone is at each
other's throats and they have this problem and
they get happy.
And this is really important guys.
The elders of Quraysh the tribesmen, the chiefs
when they see it's Muhammad everyone breathes a
sigh of relief.
Al-Ameen, Al-Ameen.
The trustworthy, the trustworthy.
We know things are gonna be fine.
So the Prophet ﷺ walks in and they
tell him this is the problem that we
have and we need to solve it.
Here you see the Prophet's intellect.
His quick thinking.
His standing in Quraysh.
He says, why don't we all participate in
this great honor?
And he called for a cloth to be
put on the floor.
And the Hajar al-Aswad was placed in
it.
And he said let each clan have a
representative that carries the cloth.
So each one, each person is participating.
They carry it together and they walk towards
the Kaaba.
And the Prophet ﷺ himself pushed it into
its rightful place.
Thus dissolving a dispute that could have led
to bloodshed and also being, think about this.
What were Quraysh fighting over?
Who is the most deserving?
Who has the honor?
Who should do it?
In the end, the most deserving and the
most honorable did it.
Rasulullah ﷺ, he diffused the situation.
You can see clearly the trust they had
in him.
He managed to involve everybody which is going
to be part of his mission to bring
the people together.
The Prophet ﷺ would bring the ummah together.
People would rally around him.
This is who the Prophet ﷺ was.
So many benefits to be learned from this
incident and the previous incident that teaches about
who the Prophet ﷺ was before the prophethood,
before the revelation, before the light of revelation
came to him.
He was already a man of exemplary character.
So the Kaaba was built and everything was
fine and dandy.
The next few years, the Prophet ﷺ would
become increasingly secluded from his community.
Increasingly secluded from his community.
And he would prefer to spend time by
himself.
And he would ponder over the world, the
state of his people, the relationship that people
have with these idols and how it should
be.
And it is mentioned in Bukhari, one of
the first Hadiths actually, where Aisha reports that
the Prophet ﷺ mentioned that before the Bi
'athah, before Ayat al-Jabeel comes with the
Qur'an, before Allah ﷻ revealed the Qur
'an to him, he said, Beloved to me
became seclusion.
To be by himself.
To ponder, to think.
Something, my dear brothers and sisters, often is
good for us to do.
It is important that sometimes you take time
out of your busy day where you focus
on yourself and you assess yourself.
What am I doing?
What is my relationship with Allah?
How is my Iman?
You need that moment.
And Allah loves those that have moments, private
moments with their Lord.
In fact, among the people who will enjoy
the shade of Allah, يَوْمٌ لَا ذِلْعٍ لَا
ذِلُّهُ Today there is no shade except the
shade of Allah ﷻ.
It's رَجُلٌ ذَكَرَ اللَّهُ خَالِيًّا فَفَاوْ تُطْعَيْنَاهُ A
man or a woman, a person who remembered
his Lord Allah by themselves and cried.
If this happens to you, if you do
this, you are among the people, inshallah, that
will enjoy the shade of Allah.
Being by yourself, making dhikr, weeping over your
sins and your shortcomings, and having a sense
of eagerness to speak to your Lord Allah
ﷻ.
We always say that the dhikr of Allah,
it gives life to the heart.
May Allah give life to our hearts.
Say ameen.
So the Prophet ﷺ, what are some of
the things that is important for us to
know?
One is, the Prophet ﷺ was upon Ḥanifiyyah.
What is Ḥanifiyyah?
I mentioned this in previous classes.
Ḥanifiyyah is those that were upon the way
of Prophet Ibrahim ﷺ, pure tawhid.
They believed that only Allah is worthy of
worship, no partners, no intermediaries, no idols, nothing.
Only Allah ﷻ.
And there were certain individuals within the community
that held this belief, but they weren't many.
The Prophet ﷺ was among those.
So he didn't like idolatry.
Remember when he met Bahiro, the monk.
And the monk said, I swear to you
by Allah and al-Uzza.
The Prophet ﷺ said, don't do that.
And he was only a young, teenage boy
at that time.
So this is who he was.
And he would, one of the things that
happened to the Prophet ﷺ, and I'm going
to conclude here.
We're going to conclude here, in sha Allah
ta'ala.
One of the things that would happen to
the Prophet ﷺ was, as he got closer
and closer to the age of 40.
Because when he became 40 is when he
becomes a prophet.
And that's what we'll cover next week.
One of the things that happened to him
was that he would dream.
He would dream.
And his dreams would come to him.
And they would be as real as the
sun rising.
The sun is going to rise every morning,
right?
When you go to bed at night, you
can doubt many things.
But you are sure that tomorrow the sun
will come up.
And it's like that.
His dreams were like that.
Meaning what?
He would dream something happening.
He would wake up and that day, that
thing that he dreamed of would happen exactly
as he dreamt it.
And the following night, he would go to
bed, and he would dream something happening.
It could be anything.
Meeting someone in the market, a caravan approaching
Mecca, something happened, raining.
It could be anything.
He would see it in a dream.
He would wake up.
He would go out.
And that would happen over and over and
over and over and over again.
He doesn't know yet that he's becoming a
prophet.
What's going on?
What is Allah preparing him for?
Allah is preparing the Prophet ﷺ to believe
what was revealed to him.
And يؤمن بما يوحى إليه That he believes
and accepts what is being shown.
And to prepare him for that, Allah shows
him something every night before it happens, then
it happens.
Does that make sense?
But I want you to also appreciate the
Prophet's predicament.
He doesn't know what this is.
But it's going to happen over and over
again.
That Allah was preparing the Prophet ﷺ.
Look at the many different ways Allah prepared
the Prophet.
Allah prepared the Prophet ﷺ for prophethood by
he was born in the year that Allah
Almighty showed his power to the Meccans and
protected the Bayt.
And protecting the Bayt resulted in the people
of Mecca never attributing the protection of the
Kaaba to the idols but always to who?
To Allah.
Remember what Abd al-Mutalib said وَلِلْبَيْتِ رَبٌ
يَحْمِيهِ Which meant that when the Prophet was
born and afterwards he grew up in a
society that when they talk about a major
event, they would say it was Allah that
protected the Kaaba.
This was Allah preparing the Prophet.
Allah prepared the Prophet ﷺ by marrying him
to one of the greatest woman Khadija bint
Khuwaylid.
Allah prepared the Prophet by befriending him with
Abu Bakr the greatest man after him ﷺ.
Allah prepared the Prophet ﷺ by sending him
Ayna Jibreel and removing the hub of Shaitaan
from him as a young boy.
Allah prepared the Prophet ﷺ by showing him
loss as a young child.
So he already knows that you can lose
family.
And because the Prophet ﷺ will go through
many many challenges.
Allah Jalla Jalaluhu prepared the Prophet ﷺ through
showing him what battle looks like in the
Hurub al-Fijar.
Showing him what standing up for oppression looks
like with Hilf al-Fudul.
Showing him what it means to solve problems
and bring people together with the incident that
we just described.
So many different ways Allah was preparing the
Prophet ﷺ.
The Prophet ﷺ as a young boy was
taking care of a flock because he will
be taking care of humanity.
The Prophet ﷺ was dealing with people and
trade to teach him the different types of
people exist and how you handle him over
and over and over again.
Allah was preparing the Prophet ﷺ until Allah
started to show him these dreams to prepare
him to be receptive to revelation.
And he is now becoming increasingly upset at
the way Quraysh doesn't glorify Allah.
And they go after idols and sacrifice to
them and do all of this.
And he is becoming increasingly interested in his
Lord Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
And as this is happening and as time
goes on and as he is trying to
figure out why am I seeing these dreams?
What do they mean?
And as sometimes as he is walking in
the streets and walking in the desert there
were rocks and stones in and of objects
that would say As-salamu alayka ya Rasulallah.
The Prophet ﷺ mentioned this in the hadith
of Jabir when he mentioned this used to
happen to him.
These little things are all there in preparation
for the greatest moment of his life and
subsequently the most important and greatest moment of
our lives.
The beginning of Noor descending.
The beginning of revelation.
And this was such a massive moment that
completely changed humanity.
Completely changed everything.
We'll discuss that next week inshallah ta'ala.
The beginning of Wahi.
May Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala allow us
to benefit from Wahi.
May Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala allow us
to learn from the many lessons that we
are learning from the seerah.
I hope to see you all inshallah ta
'ala next week which will be our last
week for the first season and there will
be a break and then we will continue
inshallah ta'ala with the early times of
revelation and how the Prophet dealt with the
sahaba and the persecution and the delivering of
the message.
هذا وآخر دعوانا للحمد لله رب العالمين Muhsin
are there any questions?
Where is Muhsin?
Brother sorry there are a few questions I'm
going to ask inshallah ta'ala.
I do apologize.
Are there questions?
Allahu Akbar If everyone can stay seated my
brothers until we do the questions inshallah ta
'ala I do apologize.
There is a question from one of our
sisters who says Sheikh can you please recommend
the most authentic and detailed book of seerah?
In the first lecture there was a book
mentioned on seerah that was preserved originally but
then was lost and found again.
Can we find and get access to this
book please?
So the seerah book that I mentioned in
my first lecture was the seerah of Musa
ibn Uqba Now this is an early compilation
of seerah it is considered to be the
most authentic like Imam Malik mentioned however it's
more used as a reference it's not really
written in a way where you can read
the seerah from A to Z in a
very nice and casual way.
However the majority of seerah books generally speaking
are authentic so if you want to have
access to an important reference you can it's
got the seerah of Musa ibn Uqba.
However if I can just recommend two things
for all of you one how can you
make the most out of these lectures?
My advice is come to the lecture listen
to the lecture then go back and read
the seerah because what will happen is you
may find extra information in those seerah books
that I have not mentioned or more detail
because in the seerah because in the seerah
these lectures they could be two hours three
hours if you wanted to.
So which books do I recommend for you
guys to read?
I think the Seal of Nectar is a
good book I think an easier read is
a book called When the Moon Split When
the Moon Split is the Arabic version of
The English version I should say Personally I
always recommend this book when I read it
I really enjoyed it and generally speaking generally
speaking its references are sound it is based
on Ibn Ishaq and Ibn Hisham which are
very good resources of seerah so if you
go back to my first lecture I mentioned
a few others as well but generally speaking
for you guys if you're using The Seal
of Nectar or When the Moon Split by
the same author they are fine there's another
one there are other ones as well if
you go back to my first lecture I
mentioned them but you don't necessarily have to
worry about that someone is asking about The
Simple Seerah The Simple Seerah is a small
seerah book that is written in a very
it's almost written in a novel style by
Ustad Asim Khan I think it's really good
as well the references are all authentic and
it's based on authentic they may have taken
some liberty in the way it's written the
way the story is being told but I
do recommend especially for the younger audiences if
you have teenage daughters or sons that like
to read and even younger ones The Simple
Seerah is a good way to introduce them
to the seerah inshallah and even adults if
you read it it's a good read so
it's another one inshallah that you can use
any one of those references will be beneficial
inshallah and remember don't just read it for
information but read it to apply are there
any other questions from the brothers if not
we conclude inshallah you have a question you
have to tell me your name first Abdullah
who are you named after Abdullah the prophet's
dad very very smart Jazakallah Khair yes Abdullah
also Abdullah by the way there are two
names Allah loves the most do you know
what they are Abdullah and Abdulrahman so you're
a very lucky boy okay what's your question
Abdullah what is the ruling on the prophet's
birthday if you go back to my lectures
my second lecture and third lecture I was
asked that question inshallah and you watch it
you'll see the answer is that okay Barakallah
Fik we'll conclude inshallah Assalamualaikum Assalamualaikum Wa Rahmatullah
