Thematic Study of the Quran – Surah Nisaa – Ep.01

welcome all of you and those listening online to this journey of a thematic study of SOTA 10, Nisa.

And it's very different from a Tafseer. So if you're thinking this is going to be a Tafseer, of solar 10 nissa. This is not the program. This is not a subject. And now we're gonna do it's a thematic study, very briefly what that was things. And the book that I've created for this program, it has every verse with its translation and some commentary beneath produce the surah once we get to it, I will walk you through exactly when we extract a subject what we do with that subject, so we will be talking, it addresses a little bit of everything, you know, so to the Bukhara, unsorted earlier Emraan, primarily focused on becoming a color of Allah. life, this particular Sora, and what it means to you and I, and this Sora is particularly one of my favorites, because journey with me through both of those sources. So Alhamdulillah, we had finished and completed them, we just have a small chunk of sulit. Well, no, he mad that he is. He's telling me he has written hundreds of material. And this is one of them. This particular book is summarized and it's online. You can get it in PDF form and it's translated about this

particular subject. and in it he mentions all of the things that students need to have to be a good student with Allah subhanho wa Taala, as well as with their teacher insha Allah, this is going to be a unique experience some of the things here, perhaps no one has really brought it up and talked about. So with that being such a killer verse, which I'll come to in a moment, why I named it that knowledge is a sign an indication that Allah loves a person and has accepted them. This comes from an authentic hadith melt, success, both islamically as well as in the worldly life, if you want to guarantee that you'll have a good life in this world than in shun hardship you have in your Islamic

life, as well as in the worldly life. And anybody who really, you know, is is engaged in studying. That's something that you have to really fight for. You know, usually people who devote devote their lives to studying and, you know, in a lot of cultures, it's looked down

that intention, that they just want that break, devote themselves and then get back on track. And that's a tough thing to do these days. And so, we become like this. Now, what's all of this talking about? Three things Allah describes people, and he equates them to animals, if they have three behind, and then they have eyes that they're spiritually blind. And number three, what a home as then yes, merona we have, and they have cattle, goats, sheeps and cows and things like them. This particular verse that I've quoted to you in so little out of went one step further, they're actually worse than cattle. Because I say this all the time, right? You'd if you stand beside a cow or a

sheep long enough, what does it eventually do? Government.

Allah said, my knowledge keeps poking at you.

Your heart doesn't move. Your eyes still can't see. But if you start poking at them, enough, maybe not the first, you know, few times, but enough, then they start you start seeing some hodaka some move. But a less said the humans who have these three qualities Balham Alba, they're actually in a worse state than cattle. The beauty of the sky talks about all of this stuff?

Why does he do that? One wisdom is that so you see his a yet that they're always surrounds, just wow. You know, and snap a quick picture or a selfie. And that's about it for Allah. That's an area that He exists. The oceans, they come like a heartbeat to you. Everywhere you go, they're talking to you. It's amazing. That's not easy, though. You really, really have to train your mind conscious of a lot. That's a spiritual training that you go through. But once you get there and you have an ounce of taqwa in your heart, you have now qualified you have become if we don't have Islamic knowledge, we become like animals, our men can and Mater for Hina sorted. you end up going through all the things that scholars and students of Islam go through, and they're still keep saying have hamdulillah

and everyone else is going through the same hardship. And they're like, Where is he? He said, he'll help us their life.

Life becomes it literally closes in and it collapses you when you don't have Allah with you. So it's there? How do we know that He exists? How do we know? What are his What are additional signs of his existence and so on? Okay, let's move on. barriers between speaking, you and I,

First, I think is very obvious. Right? People, those two situations are totally different. busy lives. Even if you're not married, you might have extremely busy lives, just stuff to do. I don't care what it is just the can't organize yourself.

Islam, getting to an evening class, as long as I can fit that convenient Islamic stuff.

Prayer is good, just all over the place. talk to you about that in a minute. lifestyle doesn't accommodate this type of knowledge. Okay, so before we get that there are valid excuses.

Are you serious?

You You wouldn't accept when somebody has got like a busy day, I'm getting a migraine, just thinking about what a day looks like for you. So I'm not even gonna go there.

You know, what's amazing about it.

We have no choice. This is one of those things, and there are very few of them in in our team, that we don't get to compromise. We don't get to work men in the world. He ran a corporation. And he never made time to go see the doctor.

Okay. About 10 years they do the blood test. They everything every test you can imagine just to get the records up to date. They find out there are traces of cancer in you had time to do that.

How did he he never missed an appointment. He went for every single treatment. How did you do it?

In a culture in this world, where this stuff is not priority.

Despite the explosion of Islamic knowledge, not just one, hundreds will show up.

And that's where we're at. That's just the online. Forget about all of this that you see around you. One of my professors

said, you know, the students who want to do master programs and PhD, you have to write obviously your thesis, right? He said that we have run out of new master PhD students to critique and write about those thesis that they have sitting on their shelves. So recycle the same topic. And it sounds pretty insane when you consider and think about

that much knowledge is out there. And all of us are still like this. That's really sure. I mean, I know that total cool, you're supposed to stay there for 10 seconds? Or is it more? Is it less, I still get questions like that from adults.

Now look, at the third life style doesn't accommodate this type of knowledge. Have you seen this before, where if I, or myself or another teacher, we scribe.

And by the way, everyone who studies the subject of music knows very well that scholars differ on this. But that's not my call of them, because they're all messed up. And these are my proofs did it.

And you go out of here,

any problem is your son's a DJ, I've got copies of those in your car.

And it's one of those situations where you don't turn off the radio when you turn off the car. So as soon as you turn it on, or through this, this knowledge, it doesn't fit into your lifestyle or culture.

And that's a huge, huge barrier between it won't

If you have a certain lifestyle, and you don't want anyone in this classroom to ever see, or to know,

then just keep in mind that, you know, if you don't try to change or alter some of those habits,

this knowledge will never end remove that awful picture of whatever it is, and say, Okay, I don't want to see this anymore. You are the one that will have to set the other hand, look what it exposed the gateway to unqualified teachers, so called checks and instructors, there's lots of them. They were just in it for the money. Does that make sense?

Like, fourth is explosion of information and accessibility carries its flaws. It has its weakness, you know, on the one hand, it's amazing, but on the other, they were just in it for the fame. They were just in it because Okay, they must have attended about 60 different classes. And so felt that to teach that subject. You might have learned a little bit here and there. So I'll give you an example. You know, some young people, young brothers, they come to me and they said they want to be a hot tip. Right? The one different organizations. I've attended a class like 10 o'clock every evening, I studied the Quran and they memorized it. So you have all of them. Okay, this could you

explain this problem? I'm going through this stress. Can you tell me what Islam says? What? Are you prepared to answer all of that? Now, I just want to give a hotbed.

Just go ahead. Okay, what's the ruling on blah blah, blah, blah, blah. Well, I heard a long time ago from the Shaker Heights on YouTube. You know, Rahim Allah, you can go on YouTube, another student or a sister or whatever. Salaam Alaikum. Shay it's like * they'll go ahead ask your question whether my shape or not is irrelevant to sponsibility factor. No one is really talking much about you know, we studied for at least 10 years so that we can give one Hello hard to sell them alone will ask me about every heart I spoke to. And if I spoke to each of those hearts in with with a sincere intention. And whatever the of seeking knowledge is is tough to find. The industry of Islamic

knowledge has been highly sensationalized. We've we've already chatted about the fame, the titles and so on. Definitely try it on.

You just can't push yourself to get things done. You want protect me from being counted as those who are lazy. It's okay to have moments when you're lazy. I'm lazy all the time with different things. But at the end of the day, didn't.

Okay, this is me as well. I also sit with a teacher. So a lot of this was for me to

So you put it in a corner where the kids don't bump into it and things like that. That attitude those actions are worthless, so you take people who are specified security. Number three, purify yourselves from sins, not just for the sake of being a student of Allah, but just for your own sake, as a Muslim. Learn how to implement change and the betterment of others. For young people that's really easy to teach, I don't know, for more mature adults company, so they're able to say, Okay, yeah, you guys go out for dinner. I'm not I'm not going nowhere. Because you know that if you go they're eating like a burger and some fries under control. And maybe for the young people, probably not. Yeah, let's go eat after you was going to go to mall. You know, there's a cinema there want to watch a movie? And there's so it's easiest for me. Have you ever found yourself you started a class and halfway you kind of

dropped out?

That's the sad reality of pretty much as a matter of fact, even the Prophet alayhi salaatu wa Salaam had that too. started off with certain campaigns and certain didn't show up. They didn't come for what he or she and what what are they doing? Call them out? So my point is this that

it's it's great to see all of you here. comfortable with one another. I don't know you all know your lives, what ends up taking more of your time. But what I want to plead to all of you, I want to get right to the end. And don't let anything get in the way.

You know, I, and don't be afraid to ask teachers this, you know, can you tell me a little bit about where you studied or why you chose to teach this subject. You know, don't be afraid to do that, especially without, I think this is the fifth year now. But I've been part of this institute since before it was built. Right. So everybody here knows me and my family. So it's a subject that I actually specialized in. So what I did is

I decided that I was going to study very different from other students. So I had an afternoon of just heading youth studies. And that's where I was able to sit with a PhD student who was from NEC, I read it to him from beginning to end. So that's what I did for for a little while. Then. The late evening is when I devoted my time to I don't feel that I'm qualified to do it anyway. I can teach basic fit, but that's about it. So that's where I am. Here's the thing, why am I teaching core and and sort of the needs. So I've gone through a bunch of tough CEUs and the one that I'm going through with you guys, is actually I brought the book so you could

you could see volumes. Okay, so Alhamdulillah I'm on volume six with you guys, right? Start from Volume One, and we're on volume six. So this one certainly saturated the entire course from this book is called a Jeremy Oh, camel color n by emammal Porter B. It is 25 times as much of it as i can tell you why this

This is the Tafseer that I love the most that I depend on the most if you ever hear me translate or

So there's a couple things. One of the greatest shame in students of knowledge is the lack of reason. This is not the etiquettes of a

student. As a matter of fact, Mr. Chef era himolla used to have this a lot where people used to just get up and bark at him, top of their voice Adam in front of everyone.

And says, Are you done? Okay, so Dominic,

and he'll just leave them. So one day one of his students asked him, Why do you do that? Why don't you talk back or say something? He said,

I leave them so that they, so I leave them and he calls that attitude stupidity, until they Calm down, and they're ready to come and have a conversation in a civilized manner.

hamdulillah I can count the amount of times this something like that has ever happened when he let your hand and most of you if not all of you here arms than the other way around. So I think we don't really have to spend much time on that anyway. If you disagree, or you don't understand, or you discover any weeks out of that disagreement, usually, unfortunately, oh, my God, I can't believe they actually think that that's how that I'm never talking to them again.

You know, I'm not spawn and how they disagree. If you've ever disagreed with somebody, something to do with the dean, just think about what that what what manifests even going to the masjid no more, I'd only want to pray behind him anymore. Because of maybe one disagreement. You know, right now in the city.

They don't do anything with each other, except drain the community of millions of dollars to support the kit, appearance and presence, you probably will might think, like, come on, dude, what do you what are you saying?

One of dozen students, we got invited to his house, one of our friends had a pair of shoes on. And the heel was just a bit high after you know, you know, one of the most brilliant human beings in this world, we have a chance to sit and talk with him and get all the questions answered.
