another jamara reminder, I come to you live from the Islamic Institute of Toronto. I know I'm a few minutes late, but I'll share with you the reason why I'm a few minutes late at the end of this short to jamara reminder Bismillahi Tada, I'll show you exactly what's going on, and even why I'm at the IoT center. But nevertheless, let's get right to the subject. This year has certainly being a year that has started off with so many different trials and and hardships and tragedies around the world. And today, I wanted to take a moment to really think back from January 2020 till this point, just all lets happen. And I'm not going to be able to list everything that's taken place that's been
tragic and and difficult for all of us. But if I mean, when I think back, the first thing that comes to mind is the downing of the Ukrainian flight that took the lives of everyone on that flight that happened in Iran, then I can think about immediately the bushfires in Australia, how millions of animals and acres and acres of land destroyed. Then we go on to the tragedy and Philippines then we talk about the tragedy in Turkey. And then just recently, just before the crash of Pakistan, the Pakistan airlines in which almost everyone passed away with the exception of two individuals, I think the number was 97 people died. And then of course, the pandemic that we're all you know
involved with, and we're all dealing with some kind of law. So, basically where things lie in terms of why all of this is happening. This is a legit question. A lot of people are asking why why why? Why is Allah subhana wa Taala doing this? Why is Allah subhanho wa Taala allowing all of these things to happen in this world? Well, the first thing is the question itself is a bit strange. Because why Allah subhanho wa Taala chooses for something to happen is not something that we should question we shouldn't question his will. We shouldn't question his puddle. So to ask, Oh Allah, why are you doing this gives the the impression that we know what is best for ourselves. And that for
whatever reason, Allah subhanho wa Taala doesn't
hamdulillah excuse me, sorry about that. I've never sneezed in my entire life during a hot bath. But there was a first for everything. And since this is a reminder, I guess I can sneeze if another one comes on guys, I have allergies, not COVID Alhamdulillah. So bear with me. But coming down back to the subject. People are asking so much tragedy why why why the answer is? Well, the first thing is usually a standard response to this is, well, it's a test from Allah. And we all have to go through trials and tribulation. And so this is one of those trials and tribulations that we have to go through. You see, if you look at it that way, that's fine. The Quran and the Sunnah tell us that
part of hardship in this world is that you're being tested. And the Prophet alayhi salatu was Salam tells us that there is no group of people that are more tested than the prophets and messengers. So what scholars understood from that is the more pious, the more religious, the more devoted you are, Allah will grind you further in the sense to really test your sincerity Are you in this religion, and you're in it to stay through thick and thin and that's the whole idea. And then secondly, of course, is where what I want to talk to you about is just the whole nature of what worldly life is. Recently now, just a few days ago, one of the biggest news on the planet now is the death of a young
man in America, George Floyd, I believe his name is a lots of controversy, lots of discussion about how he died and why he died and that he shouldn't have died and so on so forth. I won't get into any of that, although, it's really really unfortunate and really, really sad that that happened to him. I personally and I'm sure hundreds of 1000s of you, many of you out there. Believe that
saying that this young man did not have to die. And of course, there are a lot of politics and a lot of other extended issues that revolve around why he died. And the whole subject of race and being a black man in that part of the world, and being part of a minority anywhere in the world, you're always subjugated to these kind of this kind of treatment. And rules are different, the system treats you differently. You know, that's a massive subject that maybe one day inshallah we will talk about. But the reality is very simple.
The Prophet it is lentils that I'm told us that this world, a dunya, meddler owner, this world is cursed. You know, when you hear that phrase in the very beginning of the Hadeeth, it's really strong, strong words to use to describe that the world is cursed, because I like living here. I like the fact that Allah subhanho wa Taala put me on Earth. I like the fact that I can, you know, enjoy this worldly life in the sense I travel I see I meet different people around the world of living on this planet is not such a bad thing. It's a beautiful place to live. And so the first thing that will understand this opening phrase of the Hadith is to understand that when the prophesy Selim is
telling us what is cursed, he's going to specify exactly what he's referring to. But two scholars explained that the the word curse in this hadith is not referring to your family and your friends and the things that are close to near to you. It's just what worldly life stands for. So for example, you live in this world you contribute, Allah gives you x amount of years to be here, and you do your best to make the best of your life in this world. But then you pass away, the world continues to turn without you, time continues to progress without you life goes on with or without you. So in that sense, nothing is going to really stop and pause just because you're not on the
planet anymore. So with the Prophet it saw it was said I was referring to when he says that the world is cursed is that it's his way, in very stern language to don't get too attached to this world because it will let you down. No matter what you do. If you do your best to leave a legacy Sure, there will be parts of your legacy that people will remember forever and it will be passed on to generations and generations. But the reality on the flip side is that much of that legacy will also be in the history books, and a new legacy will come and the cycle will continue again new lessons new knowledge, etc, etc, etc. So the point is, is that the Prophet Allah subtle, Simon's making it
very clear that this world world when he says it's curse, that means don't get too attached to this world. You could leave it at any second. And that's what the world does. That's the way that Allah designed life in this world. Then Hadeeth continues meluna Murphy has everything in it is cursed. So now if this is to to deter us from the fact that those of us might be sitting and thinking, Well, okay, this thing is cursed. That person is cursed. This system is cursed, and start pinpointing what they think is a curse that thing in this world, to eliminate that, not even to get involved in that conversation. The Prophet alayhi salaatu wa Salaam tells us everything in this world is cursed,
except three things number one, Illa Victrola one malware wideman omo Tarik Lima, except the remembrance of Allah. Now you see how sting things start to broad in terms of our understanding, and the Prophet Alayhi salat wa salam is saying except the remembrance of Allah don't mistake understanding that phrase as Okay, except when I'm in prayer, when I'm recite, to implore and when I'm saying to be when I'm making Vicar of Allah. It's not just restricted to the movement of the tongue in the remembrance of Allah, or when you're performing actual rituals, sometimes a beautiful scenery you walk out and you see the ocean you see beautiful trees, they remind you of Allah. So
some of the scholars explained here when when the Prophet system says the Victrola meaning anything that reminds you of Allah, then that's exempted from this curse. So of course, that includes our family, the people closest to us people who are good company, good friendship, people that encouraged us to tell us nice things. They're good people to be around, Muslim or not. The Prophet Alayhi salat wa salam is telling us and gauging our efforts our energy towards at least these are the things that you can enjoy that you can interact with because why at the end of the day, they keep us under control. the remembrance of Allah is never cut off. That connection between you and
your Creator is never deteriorates and even if it does, then you know what you have to do. So when we talk about the thicket of Allah, it's not just restricted to rituals, but it's anything in this world that helps you remember Allah subhanho wa Taala, obviously in a good way. One malware devil, here's number two
Except the exemption in this header with the thing that helps you remember a lot, so that could be like a best friend. And even if the friend isn't Muslim, forget about their religion for a minute, the person an individual in your life, the prophets, I seldom is saying the thing that helps you remember a lot. So when your friend tells you, hey, look, man, isn't it time for you to go to the mosque? It's Friday, don't you have to go to that Friday prayer? Okay, I'm going to go to Timmy. So I'm going to go to the coffee shop, you go do your thing. These are good people to be around. These are people that are helping you remember a lot. And obviously going in even deeper things devices,
computers, TVs, internet, all of these things, if you use it the right way. They encourage you to study and to remember and listen to reminders and so on and so forth. So you gain knowledge this way. So the Prophet alayhi salaatu wa Salaam is telling us and keep in mind he's not specifying to us, what are the things that help you remember a lot, that's up to you, you can decide what it is in your life that helps you remember a lot, but just ensure that of course, it's done in a proper way ahead, way away. that's acceptable. And then finally, brothers and sisters. Why are the men on maternity leave the scholar or the student of knowledge? So today's reminders, really the three
things that are exempted from the curse of Allah subhanho wa Taala. Where's all of this coming from? What's this topic all about? What's the connection between all the events happening in the world of this hadith? I'm going to share that with you. Once I take the short few second break. I'm going to just sit down pause for a minute just to kind of give the same feel of how we're accustomed to with the Juma reminders. So let's pause here those of you who are listening May Allah azza wa jal bless you rewarded, we ask Allah subhanho wa Taala to heal the world, from this playing in this pandemic, to allow us to be back to our lives in a manner that's pleasing to Him. We prayed that Allah
subhanho wa Taala keep us safe, keep us healthy, keep us stable and keep our connection strong and stable with him always and forever love them. I mean, I'll call him a test man was stuff that will allow you will accommodate him, assuming them included them, but stuff it'll enable him
Bismillah Alhamdulillah wa Salatu was Salam ala rasulillah, Allah He offered who sought a woman while so finally in the Hadith, the scholar or the student of knowledge, they are exempted from the curse of Allah, meaning not everybody is going to be a scholar, we know that and the Prophet it was set on he knows that however, we are all students of knowledge. If you're listening to this video, you're a student of knowledge or student of the deen, you want something to remind you and you're learning something, you're a part of that you're part of that whole process. I'm a student of knowledge, every single human being as a student of knowledge. But the Hadeeth has very specific
scholars, they explain and tell us that it's referring to the student of knowledge with respect to knowledge that is beneficial. So whether that knowledge be Islamic, or even connected to worldly life, the point is, is that that knowledge helps you and it uplifts you to become an overall better human being. And keep this in mind brothers and sisters, although that we know that Islamic knowledge is always the best and purest of knowledge out there. Learning about this place we call home planet Earth, learning about animals and creatures and how they live and how they interact with us, learning about nature, learning about life, developing skills, so that we could find a job, we
could sustain ourselves going to school, education, all of these things and the list goes on. This is all part of being a student of knowledge, you're learning at the end of the day, the to be a complete Muslim, not just the Muslim that's involved in rituals and Islamic knowledge, but you also are well versed with basic day to day things. You know, it's like one scholar used to teach us in Medina, that seeking knowledge is that you learn a little bit of everything and not everything about one thing. So you learn a little bit about day to day things that you do to overall so that you're independent, you're able to, you're able to take care of yourself, take care of those that are
around you. And at the same time you're devoted, you're caught you're constantly learning about your deen. That's always the priority for you're always thinking about the asset or all of these little things are important. And they are absolutely incumbent on each and every one of us when we're journeying through this life, but with that being said, coming back to how this short reminder begin. Honestly guys, our Prophet alayhi salatu wa sallam told us that as the day of judgment comes nearer and nearer and closer and closer tragedy will continue to increase. A man will take the life of another person, another human being, and not even know why did I just take the life of that
individual? Don't just feel like we're living in that time. Doesn't it feel like innocent people
because of their race, their background, their religion, or just their existence, somebody doesn't like them, or chooses not to like them about something, they haven't done any crime, they haven't done anything. But their life, their lives are taken. And so when we go back to how this all begins, understand and be reminded, as I am reminded, and all of us should be reminded, time is running out. And all of this COVID-19 the disasters that are happening around the world, and don't forget the murder Hornet, or Okay, that tiny little Hornet, I mean, it's not tiny compared to other other bugs, but some kind of low one sting from this, and you could potentially die from that. And now that's
becoming the new problem that people are talking about, and people are monitoring. So if you don't know anything about the murder Hornet, just literally go on YouTube type murder Hornet, and see what happens and see what you can educate and learn about this stuff so that you can understand and protect yourself from it. But with that being said, This world will always let us down in the sense that no matter how much we tried to serve it, and attach ourselves to it, and live in it, we eventually age we become weaker, and we leave and the world continues. And so this is why Islam makes such a strong statement in terms of when you live in this world, don't get too attached to it,
enjoy it. I mean, the Quran talks about the mountains and trees and birds and animals in the sea and so on. I mean, gives you elements of this world that is beautiful. And the beginning of this reminder, we talked about how you can interact with all that is beautiful in this world. But with that being said, I pray that Allah subhanaw taala get us through this difficult time. And as he promises for in America grocery use right in the metro city, Yusra, with every pain, there is always multiple avenues of ease. And I pray that we will always experience multiple avenues of ease and comfort after each pain and struggle. And so with that being said, I also want to take a moment to
pray for the families of those who have passed away not just from COVID-19. But even the recent, unfortunate incident that happened in the United States with George Floyd and his family, we pray that the Lord gives them stability and strength through this difficult time. And I pray that they get the justice that they deserve to what happened to their dear son, their child, the father, enjoy George Floyd, we should always remember incidents like this when a luck keeps us alive to witness and hear about these things. Yeah, you Hannah's Bodie bent methadone for STEM your ruler, or mankind. I keep showing you examples, examples of examples of true reality, a STEMI rule, I pay
attention to that stuff. Just because it didn't happen to you doesn't mean you get to change the channel, you get to shut off the computer and just be like, Oh, well, it's happened in a different country or to somebody else, no big deal. Let's go out and eat. That's not how it works unless you pay attention to that stuff. These are all examples of reminders of what the true reality of worldly life is. You come in, you're here for a short period, and you're gone. But there will be a time there will be a day where justice will prevail. And that is of course, the day of judgment. So all of those who have lost their lives and those who were hurt, and they were hurt and lost their lives
wrongly and unjustly. The day of judgment will come it will be our turn Bismillah hytera. With that being said, may Allah subhanho wa Taala continue to uplift us, increase us increase our faith give us strength and knowledge that we constantly improve ourselves and we better ourselves as not just human beings but as believers with Allah subhanho wa Taala May Allah azzawajal bless you all, I pray a little Benedictine if you're doing your hessen or Philadelphia it has an opener in Durban now. We ask Allah subhana wa Taala a lot of them in the nearness okay agenda we ask you for agenda or macabre but you lay him in Poland alarm and the things that we say and we do that brings us closer
to Agenda when are you becoming a nun? Oh Allah we ask you to protect us from the fire will not clutter up the lamb and hold in alignment and anything that we say or do that brings us closer to the fire or Allah protect us from the second level heighten May Allah subhanho wa Taala Bless you all all. And just keep in mind at once this reminder is done to pray your select the lower four records. But before I finished, guys, stay on, stay online with me. I'm going to put on my mask.
