Musleh Khan – How Allah Connects us to Him
AI: Summary ©
The Islamic Institute of Toronto has held a panel discussion on the ongoing persecution of those who refuse to admit their crimes and the importance of providing support to those who do not. The importance of learning from the past and navigating the pain and hardship of those who have lost loved ones is emphasized. The importance of faith and guidance in achieving success and finding one's own happiness is also emphasized. The conversation includes a story about a young man in the cave and the importance of not hiding from distractions and not giving up on one's own success. The speakers also remind viewers to stay and watch a video about a summer fest and pray for peace and blessings.

Children once again,
and welcome to the Islamic Institute of Toronto
on this, beautiful day of Jumah.
May Allah
accept all of your
prayers and your supplications,
and may Allah
keep your families safe,
and may Allah
grant all of our brothers and sisters who
are oppressed
in any part of the world. May he
grant them safety and security.
A few quick announcements. Inshallah,
after
today, as we announced last
week, we will be having a short video
presentation.
As you are aware, a couple of years
ago,
2 individuals attempted to break in into the
IIT facilities.
They were arrested.
They went through,
a long,
procedure in the courts.
The
female, Samantha Stone,
we are told has turned around her life.
She has been volunteering at the masjid in
Sault Ste. Marie,
and,
she is, willing she was willing to do
an apology to the congregation,
and she has recorded,
something for the congregation.
So
those of you who have the time,
you can remain after and
we will show it on the screen on
the stage. So we will just have to
pivot a little bit after Jummah.
Also,
tomorrow is our big day for the summer
fest.
Our youth have planned
a really
engaging
and fun day tomorrow,
Saturday for the summer fest starting from 1
PM until 9 PM.
We have a lot of vendors. We have
rides. We have games for the children.
We have food on sales. So please bring
your family out tomorrow
at 1 PM.
And,
I see brother Abdulrahman is smiling. There's something
I said wrong?
No? Okay.
So we would like to thank our youth
in advance for this. They have really done
a great job. They have worked a lot,
to get this going, and we hope to
see all of you. Please share it,
to your family
and friends, and invite everyone to be out
here.
Again, our summer camp is continuing.
Our youth camp is full for next week,
but we do have some space for the
children's camp from 5 to 12 years of
age. So if you would like your children
to be, engaged in the summer
of fun and learning, bring them here at
IIT.
Inshallah. I will ask the volunteers to go
through the lines,
and please donate generously to IIT.
Your donations
on Fridays
through the line collection
goes a very far way in helping us
to maintain the facilities and to continue
some of our programming,
that we have been doing.
While the
volunteers go through the line,
I just wanted to reiterate
that as we all know the situation in
Palestine,
there is no let up.
Unfortunately,
even after,
the opinion by the international,
criminal court and the international court of justice,
even after,
the,
the declarations at the United Nations.
Unfortunately,
this oppression,
this persecution,
this suffering is continuing.
And we would like all of you, Insha'Allah,
to ensure
that you do not let up. Let us
not get tired
of our advocacy on this issue, and let
us continue to do so inshallah.
Our our katib today is, Sheikh Muslikh Khan.
Hi,
Alan.
My brothers and sisters on this blessed day
and hour of the Ummul Jumr, we first
and foremost ask Allah
for his mercy and his forgiveness.
For our mistakes and our shortcomings, we ask
Allah
for the same that he honors all of
us with mercy, forgiveness, and his pardon.
For
our brothers and sisters that are suffering around
the world and especially in Palestine,
may Allah Azzawajal
give them strength, patience, resilience.
May Allah Azza wa Jal shower them with
victory. And may Allah
bring unity to all of us.
Just being here for half an hour, some
of you have come with news that
somebody very close to you is ill and
just
holding on on their last breath.
Some of you already
came and mentioned of a loved one that
has recently passed.
No problems, no sicknesses, just suddenly passed away.
And I would be remissed if I didn't
mention, although it's been about a week, of
our
dear Sheikh, my teacher, a beloved friend who
had also passed,
a Sheikh Abdullah Siraj, whom many of you
know, Rahmatullah,
who
is a scholar of the qira'at and recitation
of the Quran.
I say all of this to you for
one very simple reason.
Time is extremely short.
You know when you lose a loved one
it's like a star is missing in the
sky.
But when you lose a scholar of the
Ummah, it's like the sun or the moon
is missing.
Even if you don't know and you've never
studied with him or her,
the effects and the loss of a Alim
and a scholar to the Ummah is absolutely
tremendous.
And it's the people who study and sit
with scholars that really feel that lost. And
in some ways, it hurts even more than
when you lose a mother and father.
It hurts differently.
But I start off with this and I
ask Allah
to give us strength.
All of our brothers and sisters and friends
and scholars and families who have passed away.
May Allah
reunite all of us together with them.
Our brothers and sisters that are struggling and
suffering, that are sick, that are in the
hospital,
that are at home, that are bedridden, suffering
in whatever way shape or form. May Allah
bless them with strength, patience, and.
It's a nice time
in the summer because lots of young people
were home.
And you get to spend more time with
your family and your siblings and your loved
ones. So today, I wanna bring your attention
to a very specific topic in Surat Al
Kahf
where Allah
speaks about these youngsters in the cave when
he tells us
These two verses.
Now, let's just go back a little.
The prophet or Isa alaihis salam has left.
There is a pocket of true believers of
Isa alaihis salam roaming the earth. Amongst them
are these group of youngsters,
young men.
A trial had happened where it was issued
this verdict was issued that they would be
on bail for some time.
And pressure was mounting and growing on these
young people to change their faith,
leave this original faith and aqidah of
and follow some of the other traditions that
were prevalent at that time
that were not
obedient to Allah
It was not the true faith of
So, they felt this pressure. Here is the
first point of benefit.
Young students,
this is especially for me and you. Adults,
it's for all of us as well, but
especially for the youngsters.
It's not getting easier
for you especially
to be Muslim.
It's not getting easier. The pressures continue to
mount.
The atrocities and paid and tried tragedies around
the world, especially to other Muslims, continue to
increase.
And somehow in the back of your mind,
you might be thinking, I get this question
all the time. Lots of you, I'm sure,
hear this question all the time.
We're supposed to be the chosen
ummah and religion of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
How do we navigate through this?
Holding on to Allah that He knows what
is best
but every day you have to hear this
and watch all of this. It's not normal
to hear all of that pain every single
day and to watch it online, on TV,
and so on.
So one thing that can help you and
I is go back to these young men
who went to this cave. Before all of
that, they made a decision.
Their decision was and this is one of
the reasons why scholars of tafsir of this
ayat
tells us why Allah says, nahnu nakussua'alaika
naba'aum bilhaqq. We're going to teach you
the news
with truth. Meaning,
you're going to now hear the real reason
why these young men went to a cave.
Interestingly,
you and I know that the word for
story in Quran is.
Allah does not say
Allah uses 2 words,
which is stories.
And for those of us that are not
familiar, Qislatun
means I want you to just imagine for
a moment.
When you see, like, footprints in the ground
in the mud or something
and you trace over those footprints, you walk
into those same footprint. You don't know who
it's
from but you walk into those same footprints
that's called krislatun.
Allah is saying 2 things about the story
of these young men. I'm going to share
the story with you
as though you are in the cave walking
in the story of these young men
and then Allah uses a second
word.
We all know the
What were they talking about? The Quraysh them,
they're having and they're asking about something.
About this great news and announcement.
Is one of the words in Quran to
refer toward to the day of judgment.
To the day of the most important
day
ever
that we are all preparing for, that mankind
awaits,
is the same word Allah uses
to describe,
to introduce
the story of these young men. What do
we learn from that? Well, it's very beautiful
and simple.
Young people
in times of strength and resilience,
young people listen to this. You probably don't
hear this as often as you should.
And for the adults,
we probably
don't give them as much credit as they
deserve.
When young people are faced with pain and
hardship
and you give them a little space, you
guide, but you give them a little space
to navigate through that pain and hardship,
the vast majority of the time you'll be
surprised how they're able to navigate through that
hardship.
That they didn't even realize then themselves.
So Allah says,
I'm gonna share with you a story that
you're gonna feel like you're a part of
and it is so important just like we're
talking about the day of judgment.
That's young people in Quran.
Then Allah continues.
They are, meaning these young men. We're not
gonna get into why they went in the
cave, what they were doing in there, how
many of them. No. Just these 2
ayat. They are the word that's used here
for young people is fitiatoun,
fatan.
Fitiatoun
is used to describe
young people
when they've reached a point in their life.
Now, normally this starts to happen around 13
to 17 18 years old in that bracket.
Fit you to them.
These are people that get lost and distracted
with materialism,
with worldly affairs.
So it's all the things that we talk
about.
It's the things about the distractions
TV,
social media, friends, all of that stuff. The
entertainment business and all of that.
That's when young people get lost in all
of that
and they lose their focus,
they lose priorities,
they're distracted
so much they just can't
can they're consumed by nothing except those distractions.
Allah makes reference to them. This is fitiatun.
So here's the next example.
These great individuals
that are about to be in this cave
That Allah says, I'm gonna walk you through
their story
and I'm gonna tell it to you like
the way I tell it to you about
Yawmul Qiyamah.
And I'm gonna honor them by telling you
the truth about them. What kind of students
are these?
They're the students that for a lot of
adults
are the ones that unfortunately
a lot of adults write off.
They're too lost.
They're too immature.
They're so lost and distracted in life. They'll
be useless.
Those students
that are usually at the bottom of the
ladder, at the bottom of the list, Allah
says that's who I'm going to focus on.
It's a mindset
that is so different
from today.
The people that we think
would be of little or no benefit.
Allah tells us, these are the stars I'm
gonna start off with. What's
their first quality that made them stand out?
It wasn't the distractions and the play when
they immatured.
No.
These people have iman.
Case closed.
Young people,
as long as you hold on to this
faith and you have even an ounce or
an atom's weight of iman,
you are someone of value in the sight
of Allah.
Even if you may be of no value
in the sight of people.
The fact that you still carry this EMAN
but you're missing Federer almost every day, at
least missing it on time.
You're struggling with other parts of the day
but you've never let go. You
question all this stuff happening around the world.
Why is Allah making this up? But you
never let go of Him.
That's what Allah focused on.
These fitya they
all have And
you know what's interesting?
This is why we always say,
every single word of Quran,
you learn something.
Allah does not
say Allah
singles out
Here's the next benefit.
These youngsters
may never have had an Aqidah class.
They may never have attended a seminar or
an intensive study of Islamic anything.
But Allah says,
the one thing that their iman was attached
to is they knew that Allah was in
charge. Rabun,
the guardian,
the protector,
the master,
the one that's in charge. I don't know
his names.
I don't know his attributes. I don't know
exactly like I pray to him but I
know he's there. I don't know much about
him. Subhanahu wa ta'ala.
But I know he's a rab. Allah says,
that's a great start. You are fitiatun.
Amanu, you have Iban.
Specifically because you recognize I'm still in charge.
I
love this part.
Now they have this faith.
They're in the cave.
And Allah says
that foundation
of just holding on
here's what you get from Allah Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala.
Allah says I just give you more
and more and more of His guidance.
You know, it's
incredible how humans interact
and what Allah has planned. It's unbelievable.
Even I hearing the announcements of this young
lady who turned her life and around. I
encourage all of you to stay back and
listen to this apology.
Not because of the sake of the apology.
Just how Allah can take somebody that we
think is going towards there
and Allah perhaps has a plan that that
same sister may one be sitting here and
praying with us.
We just don't know how Allah Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala
where Allah takes that atoms weight of principle
and fundamental
that little that everybody sees is trivial Allah
says though this is a great start.
How did Allah increase their faith?
How did Allah increase their guidance? Listen to
it.
4 things. Number 1,
You take a bag, you take a rope,
you tie it on something and you hold
on firm
and it doesn't move. It can't escape. Rabata.
Here's the next benefit, young students,
young adults,
brothers and sisters.
We enveloped
and wrapped around their hearts. What?
This guidance and increase of this guidance,
we envelope
their hearts with it.
What does that teach you?
That teaches you one very simple
and powerful example all of us are going
through him.
You know, when you get news of somebody
who's passed away
And inside of you,
you're thinking, how am I gonna deal with
this?
One
of the most
difficult
things to experience, I believe in this world,
is when you lose your own child.
And for a lot of parents who lost
their own son or daughter,
there might have been a moment and you're
probably still struggling without, like, how am I
gonna call how am I gonna wake up
every day like this?
The brothers and sisters of Palestine every day
wake up. How are we gonna keep moving
forward?
How do we know what tomorrow how do
we even know what the next 5 minutes
or 10 minutes will bring? How am I
do I know my family will survive this?
All of these hows of the impossible
that's brought in front of you,
Allah reminds you,
I am the one that envelops this sense
of optimism
and certainty in faith
especially when you need it the most.
These young men are running away from being
persecuted and possibly killed because of their faith.
So they hide out in this cave. Allah
says, you probably think hiding in this cave
they'll still find you. You might still be
killed. You might still be this imprisoned.
But Allah says that faith that keeps you
going actually that comes from Allah and nowhere
else.
How do you get it brothers and sisters?
You get it because you have a little
bit of faith in you. Even an atom's
weight you have Sabiiman.
We all have that
We all believe that Allah is the protector
and the one in charge, walillahilhamd.
All of us every single day should try
to recognize and embrace when you see and
you find yourself and especially in your children.
They did a little extra that day.
First time you see your daughter making wudu
for the first all by herself?
Your son came and joined you in salah
all by himself. Those are that's what Quran
tu a'iun in is in the Quran. Those
are like moments of joy. It brings you
to tears to see that. That's what Allah
is recognizing.
Yeah there's a lot of distractions a lot
of other things but
they still held on
and they're in front of this problem of
being persecuted. And Allah says, Oh, I'm gonna
keep your hearts together.
Is Qamu, they stood up.
The judge at that time had said, Look,
if you don't get out of this faith
of yours
you are all going to be
imprisoned
and possibly
even murdered, put to death.
You know what they did?
They said, La ilaha illallah
they stood their ground.
They said our master he is the rub
of all the heavens and the earth.
We're never going to associate
anything with him. Why are we telling young
people whatever you do in life make sure
that Allah is your rub and don't associate
anything with him
Why is it specifically that young people but
all of us are constantly reminded of that?
We'll know this inshallah in the next part
of the that's where we will conclude with
I pray Allah
preserve and protect iman in our sons and
our daughters but to all of us
always and forever.
So the brothers, if you can, especially the
brothers, if you can just sort of tighten
up, you can remain seated but just move
forward inshallah.
These young people,
they said we're never
going to ever
associate with Allah anything.
And whoever
does that
they have said something that is
is when you hear it you're like really
that's impossible that's absurd
why would anybody say that why would anybody
do that that's sha'tata.
These are young people.
The early events they tell us, why did
they say this? They said this
because of the consistent
reminders
they were getting.
So parents,
you know when every day you have to
tell your children you gotta wake up a
fudger and you're doing this for 15
years, 20 years, they're still not getting but
you just keep going and you keep doing
it? This is why I always say mothers
and fathers.
And it's only when I became a parent
I truly understood what this meant.
Never
give up
on reminding
your children.
Don't ever
give up
on reminding
your children.
That's what you're doing this summer.
That's why they're home with you.
You're not looking for a transformation.
Nothing about this, yet
was about they went in the cave, they
transform.
No, Allah used the basic minuscule
basic fundamental of aqirah. They believed in Allah
and said from that now they start to
realize because Allah wrapped their enveloped their heart
with his belief
that happened because they were constantly reminded
eventually they realized
I'm never gonna say those words again.
I'm never gonna utter them. I will never
defer and deter from this path.
I pray
Allah keep our youngsters, sons and daughters.
Keep them on a path of Quran and
sunnah always and forever
especially those sitting here today and those watching
that are listening to this reminder
I pray and we all pray. May
Allah preserve the message of Islam in their
hearts and in their lives always and forever.
And for all of us, may Allah
preserve and protect the message of Islam in
our hearts and in our lives. Allahumma'amim.
We send peace and blessings to
Still,
Okay. Most of please make sure the lines
are are straight shoulder to shoulder.
Samirullah
brothers and sisters, those of you who are
able to stay, I encourage you, as brother
Farhad said, to stay and watch this video.
It's about 13 minutes long, but you don't
have to stay for the entire thing.
And for those of you who are not
able to make your donation, you can please
do so as you make your way out.
There's a brother and sister at the door,
and there's also a table in the lobby
of the building.
I want also to remind you about our
summer fest tomorrow, Insha'Allah. So,
bring your friends and family out and enjoy
a day of fun with the kids and
for adults as well. And,
our summer day camp continue.
You can check our website, Inshallah, for all
the details.
We'll start the video in about 5, 10
minutes or so. Give people a chance to
pray their sunnah, and it will be on
the stage.
