our Creator, our sustainer, our nareesha our protector. The choices of his blessings and salutations be upon our beloved prophet muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam his family members, his companions and all those who preyed upon his path with utmost sincerity until the day of theism. I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship other than Allah. And then Mohammed Salah, wasabi wasa mucho la is his final messenger.
First and foremost, I advise myself and then all of you all present here to adopt a life of taqwa. And that is to fear Allah subhanho wa Taala and to be conscious of him as a Virgil, during every single second of our lives, if we wish to attain success in this world, as well as the hereafter. May Allah subhanho wa Taala make us all from the people of taqwa. I mean,
my dear respected elders and brothers in Islam, given the fact that we are just after a season of happiness, festivity and merrymaking and also due to the fact that as of now, our refrigerators and freezers are most probably overflowing with meat and food. Due to the meat of old here, I thought it appropriate you'd like to utilize this sermon to discuss a few healthy eating habits. And a shout out Allah that habits and guidelines that I hope to share will be primarily based through the teachings of Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wasallam, the scholars of the past
and last but not least, even other modern day reputable sources.
I pray that Allah subhanho wa Taala makes this discussion a beneficial one, I wish to put forth a disclaimer before delving into the content, whatever is correct is from Allah subhanho wa Taala. And if there are any mistakes in what I may put forth, it is from me and the curse devil, I seek refuge in a lots of kind of more data from SharePoint.
So what I've done is I've divided the etiquettes and guidelines into three main categories. We have etiquettes and guidelines before eating, we have etiquettes and guidelines whilst eating. And we have a few general etiquettes and guidelines that are overall ones and some that are specific to after eating. But if you don't mind, can you switch the fan of these to me?
It's disturbing. All right.
So we start off with the etiquettes before eating
etiquette number one is to wash your hands. Now we have a few ahaadeeth In this regard, where the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam is reported to have said that you're supposed to wash our hands before eating and the ahaadeeth are recorded in the books of mama Buddha with Rahim Allah and Mama to marry him a whole lot. But most of the scholars of Hadith have classifying these a hadith as being weak. But even though they are weak, the scholars of the past have recommended this practice due to it being a good practice where we protect ourselves from perhaps bacteria that may be present on our hands. So this is the ticket number one where we wash our hands thoroughly before eating, but
on the other hand if you feel that your hands are clean, but this is never the case, because there's always some form of bacteria that may be present on our hands. So it is best to wash your hands but if you strongly feel that your hands are clean, then you may go ahead and partake or consume of the foot. So etiquette number one is to wash your hands thoroughly before eating. etiquette number two
to inquire about the food before consuming of it and this is an established sooner of our beloved prophet muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam Allah. There is an authentic hadith that has been recorded in the book of Imam Bukhari and Mr. Muslim Rahim Allah, that once the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam and Holly they've been as varied over the long line, who is a very famous Companion of the Prophet sallallahu Sallam who most of us are aware of the two of them, they went to maimunah, or the long line has house and she was the maternal aunt of horrible unbeliever, the other one, as well as the maternal aunt of human adverse or the Allahumma. She in the sense, they go to her house,
and she places or puts forth some food, she presents some food to survive for a long while here it was lm and holiday, or the other one. And the food consisted of a type of a meat. And this meat was the meat of a lizard, if you will, a lizard that used to be consumed the outskirts of the lands of Arabia, and this is the same lizard that he or we do in our country, not within Colombo, but towards the villages that are outside of Colombo, people consume this, this this animal.
So anyway, the meat was a roasted type of meat that was presented to Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam. At the very outset, as it was presented to him for a long while he was lm he must have presumed that it is normal meat because it looks like you know perhaps meat from the usual animals livestock if you will, cows, bulls or goats. So he said a long while ago when he was set up, outstretched his hand to partake of the food. But then suddenly he overhears whispering from behind where the ladies were talking to one another, inform the professor along while he was sent him that it is meat of the lizard. Now Sona, he said, Allahu Allah very seldom heard about that he
immediately withdrew his hand. And he asks the hosts as to what type of meat is this, and then he was told that this is the meat of a type of a lizard. No sooner he was informed, he refused to partake of the food in a very polite way, in a very polite way. He did not show disgust. He didn't do anything of that sort, but he politely declined to partake of the meal. Now Harley, the winner of the alarm wine, who very interestingly, who was next to the professor Lionel SLM, now this dish was a delicacy that he fancied he loved this dish. Now he was perturbed, he was disturbed, and he asked Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam Rahman who is it prohibited? jasola is it haram to which the
profits are alone while in various under no clarifies stating now it is not Haram, but the people, in other words, where I come from my people and I, we do not consume of this meat. We are not accustomed to eating this particular dish, but it is not Hara the minute Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam made this very clear holiday when alboreto de la Juan he pulls the dish to himself and he polishes the dish dish Mashallah he polishes it he consumes the entire dish very happy because at the end of the day, it was his favorite dish. Now, there are a number of lessons that obviously can be can be deduced from this particular narration. The point that I want to highlight
is that also Why is that a long while you very seldom generally would inquire about the dish or the meal before partaking of the foot. So we do if we are not sure of the meat off a type of addition, it is best that we inquire about it in a polite way without hurting the feelings of the host.
And like I said earlier, the incident that I mentioned has been recorded in the book of Imam Bukhari and Muslim Rahim Allah. Moving on to etiquette number three, it is to hasten to eat when food is presented by the host. You see, it is part of honoring one's guests. It is part of honoring one's guests to hasten and offer something when a guest comes to your house. It is part of honoring that guest to hasten and offer something. Likewise It is part of honoring the the host by hastening to partake of the food that has been presented. Because if you were to hesitate, the host might think that perhaps you're not satisfied with what with that which has been presented and etc. We wouldn't
want to hurt the feelings of the host and this was never ever the practice of Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam etiquette number four. It is to mention the name of Allah subhanho wa Taala before eating or drinking. Now this practice is obligatory as per the teachings of Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, because in general tourism wise for a long while usnm has taught us that before beginning anything, we are supposed to begin In the name of Allah subhanho wa Taala we're supposed to begin with the name of Allah subhanho wa Taala even if you were to take
the ayah Bismillahi r Rahmani Raheem Fatiha commences with it. I am number one is Bismillahi r Rahmani Raheem looseleaf one word to translate the ayah Bismillah at the beginning is a preposition is the means name Allah In the name of Allah Bismillahi r Rahmani r Rahim In the Name of Allah the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful, and one might wonder, we are starting off a sentence with a preposition by saying In the name of Allah. So at this juncture, this begs a question as to what In the name of Allah in the name of Allah what what are you doing in the name of Allah? We could say if someone were to say in the name of something, What in the name of something obviously, the question would arise. So linguists and scholars who are proficient in grammar highlight, and even move us through and highlight that this may laugh this particular term hidden with it within it is a word hidden within the
the eye a Bismillah. At least this part of the eye, a Bismillah is a word a hidden word, a word is something that denotes an action, I think I'm taking you all back to the days of grammar where perhaps some of you might have studied radiant way, I'm not sure whether the uncle's in the house may have studied radiant way, but I think I did study radiant way and the others might have studied books before that, but Long Island, anyway, a word a word is something that denotes an action so there is a hidden word within Bismillah. And this hidden word can be thought of as a video in the Arabic language, but yeah, but that means to come in, so begin something so that means I am
beginning or I am commencing In the name of Allah. So it's actually a video Bismillah I am commencing With the name of Allah. So scholars have to also highlight that if you wish, you can specify you can have a general word as a widow, as coming, I am commencing or you can even specify certain words, you're not supposed to verbalize them, you can intend them like say for example, you are about to read accuro Bismillah I am going to read in the name of Allah. So this Bismillah I am going to drive In the name of Allah, mg Bismillah I am going to walk with the name of Allah, you can have separate words but then that will become cumbersome apart from the ones who are very proficient
in the Arabic language so it is best to understand that there is a general word epidemic I come in so because if you're going to read you're basically commencing reading if you're going to drive you're about to commence driving if about to walk you're about to commence walking, so that was more of a general work a bit I commenced in the name of Allah. So basically learn your rukmani Rahim is a powerful verse, where you commence In the name of Allah subhanho wa Taala. And apart from that we have a hadith and Professor nihilism that also teaches us that we are supposed to start with the name of Allah before commencing anything. And in terms of eating, we have specific Heidi specific
narrations were also licensed Elisa has taught us that we are supposed to start eating With the name of Allah subhanho wa Taala. So what about if one forgets to mention the name of Allah subhanho wa Taala. Then we have another narration where he sallallahu alayhi wa sallam is reported to have taught us to stay Bismillahi Avila who our hero which is translated as In the name of Allah in the beginning and the end. So if you forget to say Bismillah at the beginning, then you may say this milania well who are Farah who Bismillah In the name of Allah at the beginning and at the end as per the teachings of Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa alayhi wa sallam
moving on to
etickets whilst eating. Number one is to eat with one's right hand, as we have hydrated has been recorded in the book of Mr. Muslim rahula, where a supervisor alone while SLM is reported to have said along the lines of these words, none of you should eat with his left hand or drink with his or her left hand, for the devil for chef on consumes and drinks with his left hand, may Allah subhanho wa Taala save us all. Now this is the general rule one is prohibited from consuming or eating with one's left hand. Unless, of course, if one has a valid reason, like say, perhaps you have an injury on your right hand, and maybe your right hand is in a cast or bandage or something like that, then
for that prescribed period you may consume with your left hand, but in general, you're not supposed to consume or drink with your left hand. And what about whilst you're eating, we see some people once they're eating because their hand their right hand is messy, they tend to drink with their left hand, or they hold the glass with a left hand and support it with their right hand. There is no basis for this whatsoever from the teachings of Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wasallam. But at the end of the day, we are supposed to take a balanced understanding in this regard, say if your hand is messy, maybe you're eating rice with a lot of gravy with some soup and things like that. And now if
you want to hold the glass with your right hand, you're going to obviously make the glass messy as well. Primarily you must try and eat where your fingers are not too messy so that you can handle the glass with your right hand. But say if your hand your right hand is messy, then you must try and support the glass with both of your hands and avoid making the glass messy but this practice of just drinking with the left hand should be avoided as per the teachings of Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wasallam because the devil is the one who consumes and drinks with his left hand
etiquette and guideline number three is to try and consume a variety of foods because you have to understand that not all the nutrients substances and vitamins that contribute towards good health have been identified. Not all of them have been identified. So consuming a wide assortment and you must not miss
Understand this etiquette to be that you must consume a lot of food. I'm not talking about gluttony here, I'm not talking about being greedy. I'm talking about your choice of food or the range of food, you're supposed to have a wide assortment because this helps ensure that you get all the disease fighting potential that different groups of food have to offer. So go into vegetables, go into fruits go into different types of vegetables, and don't just restrict yourself to one particular type of vegetable because you like it, or one particular type of legume like doll or whatever it is that you like because then you're missing out on the other nutrients that may be
prevalent and available across other food groups.
The next guideline in regard to etiquettes whilst eating is to keep an eye on your portions and servings, we have highlighted has been recorded in the book of Imam Bukhari and Muslim rahima, whom Allah utilized a lot while evaluating them was once with a young companion. His name was Omar even he said, I'm out of the alohar a very young companion. So once he was with him, they were about to partake of some food, they were about to consume some food. He said, Allahu alayhi wa sallam advises the young boy, a little boy like the boy is seated in the front Mashallah. he advises the young boy saying young boy, say Bismillah look at the guidelines and he was the best of teachers at the end of
the day Mohammed Salah Lama and he when he was said he was teaching the young boy but by extension, he is teaching all of us one and also Hannah law. He teaches the young boy young boy say Bismillah in the sense consume of the food by mentioning the name of Allah, eat with your right hand. And the final tip or guideline that he teaches the young boy is eat from what is front of you what is in front of you eat from what is in front of you. Don't let your hand wander or roam all over the plate, eat with eat from what is right in front of you. So there are a number of lessons again, that can be deduced from the from this particular narration, and the most important that one that I want
to highlight is to be mindful of your service to be mindful of your potions. You see, we live in an era where our portion sizes are being ballooned. You go to all these fast food restaurants. The first thing that they ask you is do you want the large mean? Do you want to upsize your meal so in general, you have all these large means that contribute towards a very unhealthy lifestyle. We have another high school Professor Allison, which has been recording the book of him amateur movie and Mr. mahama line authentic. It is a lesson of his report to upset that even Adam, the son of Adam does not feel any vessel worse than his own stomach. The son of Adam does not feel any vessel worse
than his own stomach. It is sufficient for the son of Adam to eat a few mouthfuls to keep him going to give him some energy to keep him going. And if he must fill his stomach if there is a need for him to fill his stomach, then let him fill one third of it with solids, one third of it with liquid and one third of it with amazing teachings of Mohammed Salah lohani when he was said, You're supposed to divide your stomach into three portions, one third of it for solids, one third of it for liquids and one third of it for air. You're never ever supposed to eat the full of your stomach. We are so stuck up you keep stuffing your face. And now you feel like you can't even move you feel like
you've got food until here was technically you cannot have food until here but you feel so full. This was never ever from the teachings of Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wasallam in another Hadith that has been recorded in the book of Imam Bukhari Muslim Rahim Allah. Allah has said a long while it was said of his report to have said that the believer eats in one stomach.
intriguing narration the believer eats in one stomach while the disbeliever eats in seven stomachs Allahu Akbar. Now you have to understand the context of the Hadith a little bit during the time of the Prophet salallahu alayhi wasallam. The Romans, the Persians, the ones who are not Muslims, they used to have large banquets, large feasts and they would consume a lot of food, a lot of extravagance, they would raise food and they would eat a lot. So totaliser Allahu alayhi wa sallam was highlighting their ability whenever he eats like that. A believer eats in one stomach in the sense of equivalent to one stomach, while the disbeliever eats the equivalent of seven stomachs.
Like if an individual were to have seven stomachs. Just imagine how much he would eat to fill all seven stomachs. But you know what? The irony of it is that today, it's the other way around.
The disbelievers are very, very careful in terms of their diets, in terms of what goes into their stomachs what goes into their bodies was the Muslim own, do not care one bit. We consume. Look at the Muslim community at large, all obese, obese individuals, individuals who are living unhealthy lifestyles, you look at all these fast food restaurants that are out there, who are the patrons of these fast food restaurant and when you go there, you see Muslim families eating unhealthy food at the end of the day, all contrary to the teachings of Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said there's no harm in going out and consuming in restaurants. But you have to be careful in terms of
the food that you consume.
In terms of the portions when you go to a restaurant you don't necessarily have to eat the entree meal you don't have to go and eat the main dishes because like I said, the main dishes are all now super sized. You may surprise yourself with a few starters if you will, with a few appetizers if you will. At the end of the day, most of us we have to have a main dish then try to split it with your friend try to split it with family members and don't consume the entire dish just because you think oh, this is a happy meal. This is a large meal just for myself and I must somehow consume it No, you can easily split the meal with two people and that would suffice inshallah Dinah.
Moving on. Next guideline is to eat plenty of produce natural produce, dietitian state that we are supposed to aim for two and a half cups of vegetable on a daily basis, two and a half cups of vegetable and two cups of fruit. And this is based on a 2000 calorie diet. If you are sticking to a 2000 calorie diet, then you're supposed to consume two and a half cups of what vegetable and two cups of fruit. You know, sadly in our country, now the trend is speaking Mashallah and you have a number of these restaurants, bakeries and whatnot coming up with when you look at the menu, they basically have the calories
per order or per serving in the past we didn't have it, we would go order one large, whatever, you know, go to wherever it is, and we don't, we don't bother about the calories. Now they are actually mentioned in the calories The other day I went to a particular bakery, and I saw that one chicken roll. One chicken roll has almost about 450 calories had Allah one chicken roll just imagine how many do we gulped down you know one sitting with a cup of tea and we Polish about two or three chicken rows ending up in consuming almost about 1500 calories. If you are on a diet you're supposed to only have 2000 to 2500 calories per day. So
what did we say earlier that the son of Adam it is sufficient It is enough for him to have a few mouthfuls for him to keep going. On the other hand if he has to fill his stomach, it's something that we all do. Then divide your stomach into three portions now Allah subhanho wa Taala opened the doors of understanding for all of us I mean, the next advocate consume more whole grains, whole grains retain the brand and germ and thus all or nearly all of the nutrients and fiber of that particular grain when you go back to the sooner of Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wasallam you will come across many generations where they would eat whole bread in the sense very crude types of bread and
and wheat but we today we eat the most refined type of wheat we want our bread to be soft and you know all bouncy which with with a lot of yeast in it with a lot of starch in it resulting in it being not healthy at all. But now the trend is catching on we have a number of restaurants a number of bakeries if you will, that offer this option where you could go in it may be a little more expensive, because it's the healthy option and eating healthy is anyway expensive. But still it is good for your health, if you are to consume of bread is no i'm not saying that it is prohibited to consume white bread but try and reduce it and try and even I consume white bread but try and opt for
whole grains it's a lot more healthy.
etiquette number five cut down on saturated fat and the sweet poison Alhamdulillah Alhamdulillah I don't have a sweet tooth. When people offer me chocolates I actually refuse because I don't have a sweet deal. But I know people who love the sweet poison IE sugar, sweet poison, aka also known as sugar we're supposed to avoid him. Sugar was never prevalent during the time that the proper supply list and therefore suffice themselves with honey and other natural sweetness. You see sugar is a killer. There are many, many harms in regard to your health, such as that it causes your blood glucose to spike and plummet. There is this irregularity there is a spike and plummet resulting in
mood swings, fatigue, headaches, tiredness craving for more sugar, etc. A number of harms. Apart from that it increases the risk of obesity, diabetes, heart diseases, etc. It interferes with your natural immune functions. It interferes with your immune system. It accelerates aging. So no wonder when someone looks at you. They think oh, you're much older than you actually are because it accelerates your aging. It causes you to age faster, it causes tooth decay, it causes tooth decay, you're going to end up losing your pearly whites and you won't be able to proudly smile when Allah subhanho wa Taala protect our teeth. I mean, it causes gum diseases which can in turn lead to heart
diseases. And this list keeps going on and on with all the harms. So if you do or if you must have sugar, try and regulate it try and reduce it as much as possible.
etiquette number six make healthy and organic meat a part of your diet. And I think that has happened Mashallah the last week with all the meat of food here, make healthy and organic meat a part of your diet. You see meat
A very controversial subject has been blamed for all sorts of diseases. But we have been eating meat for a very, very long time and blaming new health health problems on old foods does not make sense at all. Meat is a really good source of protein, vitamins, creatine and other vital minerals in our body, our bodies need the long run. So there is no harm in consuming meat as long as it is done in a moderate manner where we don't go overboard with it because you go overboard with anything it is harmful for your body and your lifetime. Allah subhanho wa Taala save us oil, but there is no harm in consuming of it. Because when we go back to the teachings of Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa
sallam, he and the Sahaba Galatia Allah Allah Matthew marine used to consume meat and their diets mostly consisted of me. But then on the other hand, they were also very active individuals was our lifestyles are not that active. So depending on how active you are, you can regulate and consume of meat.
The next guideline is something very closely related to me. There is a Hadith of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam where he sort of author of the usnm Allah is reported to have said that when you consume meat, make sure that you chew it well. When you consume meat, make sure that you chew it well. Now this Heidi has been classed weak by certain scholars, but there are lessons that can be deduced from it. And when we look at the subject of chewing today, scientists researchers, dieticians, they all attest to the fact that chewing your food well contributes to a much better and healthy lifestyle. Like I mentioned earlier, we live in a time and an era where everything is fast.
Yeah, very being in an era where we move from one thing to the other in a very fast way. And this results in a very stressful lifestyle. And whenever we get a small break to consume food, we end up gobbling and gulping the food instead of taking our time. And instead of chewing our food, we end up gulping and gobbling whatever the food that is in front of us, which is contrary to living a healthy lifestyle. There are a number of powerful reasons as to why you should consider chewing your food well, and eating your food slowly. Number one, you lose weight, you lose weight.
Fast me if you were to chew and eat slowly, you don't necessarily have to follow a strict diet. You wouldn't even have to change the food that you're consuming. Just by practicing chewing slowly and eating slowly, you inshallah Allah will lose roughly around 10 to 15 pounds per year. Now how does this make sense? dietitians highlight. And I wish to put forth a disclaimer, it is highly recommended, like I mentioned earlier that you stick to a healthy diet. But talking along this particular subject, they say that even if you were not to change your diet, just by chewing slowly, what happens is that you ingest food slowly into your body and your brain, it may it needs roughly
around 20 minutes to register that your stomach is full. So what happens is when you eat slowly, it's easy for your brain to understand what's going on in your stomach and give you the signals that look, you have full stop eating. But when you eat in a very fast way, a very fast way. Now you have a number of challenges where you're supposed to finish meals in a couple of minutes and whatnot. When you eat fast your brain fails to send the signal in time that look you're full. So you don't know whether you're full or not. whilst you're actually full, you keep stuffing yourself thinking that you're hungry. So by chewing and eating slowly, the first powerful reason is that you stand to
lose weight very, very easy. Reason number two better digestion. And this is something very, very logical. You see the mechanical process of chewing, what happens is you put you put big particles of food in your mouth. And when you chew, what happens is that those big particles are broken down into much smaller mushiya particles that are easy to be digested that are easy to swallow, and that are easy for our intestines to absorb nutrients from. So the mechanical process of chewing is number one, it breaks down all the big particles into small particles. And number two, it leaves the food more open to be absorbed by saliva, you see saliva, it is part of our creation by Allah subhanho wa
Taala that our saliva has natural enzymes to break down food and help the digestive process. So the longer you keep the food in exposure to your saliva, what happens is the saliva naturally reacts with the food and the enzymes in the saliva break the food into easier digestible particles and then those particles make its way into your stomach. On the other hand, if you do not chew and if you do not keep the food for enough time in your mouth, and if you've got them down, they go down as food that has not been digested or broken down completely resulting in that food becoming bad fat, resulting in that food becoming harmful for your body resulting in that food not being digested
properly in your stomach and resulting in the load work upon your stomach becoming a lot more cumbersome
The next powerful reason for you to chew and eat slowly is that you get to actually enjoy your foot. You get to actually enjoy your food contemplate on the foot. And there is this exercise of mindfulness that comes about. You go to a restaurant, you order a burger and you stuffed it down and you run. You don't even contemplate on your foot. This way when you chew when you eat the food slowly, you get to contemplate on the foot you get to render gratitude unto Allah subhanho wa Taala. There are a number of do as the Prophet sallallahu Sallam has taught us after eating where we render gratitude to Allah subhanho wa Taala. So once you eat, you can think about the food, you can render
gratitude unto Allah subhanho wa Taala for this great blessing. There are a number of people around the world without proper food, what Allah has blessed us with food, we are able to thank Allah azza wa jal, we're able to bring in that mindfulness in our long run. This obviously leads to a stress free lifestyle May Allah subhanho wa Taala lists our lives in this world as well as the hereafter. Now moving on to the final category which is etiquettes after eating, and these are general etiquettes if you will, number one, you're supposed to wash your hands after eating and this is after licking your fingers when you eat it is from the Sunnah of the Prophet sallallahu Sallam that
you will lick your fingers but you see the thing is some people go overboard with the licking and perhaps they are the function perhaps the eating with people they tend to be overzealous with the sooner the professor Lyle Islam they make very very sloppy ugly noises and they put saliva all over their fingers This is never the teachings of Mohammed Salah is the first to understand there is a lot Islam only use three fingers and he's an honest I've never consumed of rice if I'm not wrong, he used to consume wheat so there wasn't a big mess for him for a long while you it was time to cleanse off his fingers used to use three fingers he would consume very quickly and he would just take the
particles off his fingers in a neat and clean manner. We on the other hand, we mix the rice soup all kinds of watery curries and river all five fingers messy and then we start slipping in front of people which is not a good thing and the teachings of Mohammed Salah in Islam will never ever ugly Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. So you can understand that it is the sooner the prophets Allah Allah, but we should practice it in a very dignified and respectable manner. So the Lama who invested in terms of his Sunnah
etiquette number two is to pray for one's host. If someone invites you, and you're consumed of their food, after eating, you're supposed to pray for your host. You can pray for Allah subhanho wa Taala, to bless them to bless their lives, to bless their businesses to bless their commerce, their trade, he
would always do this if someone had invited him over for a meal, he would pray for them, he would pray that let fasting people come and break fast at your doorstep. May Allah bless you so many to ask for the host. Likewise, we must make it a practice that we pray for our hosts after consuming of their food. Number three, like I mentioned earlier, try to eat with three fingers. Try to eat with three fingers if you are consuming food that you are able to eat with three fingers. eating rice with three fingers is a bit of a challenge. Maybe the Japanese and Chinese might find it easy because of their expertise with the chopsticks. But if you don't have that expertise, you might find
it difficult to eat properly with three fingers. So if it is food that you're not able to eat with three fingers, there is no harm in using your fourth finger there is no harm in using a fifth finger. Likewise, there is no harm in using a fork and spoon wise to eat. They are actually scholars Okay, I'm just giving you this opinion for your information. There are actually scholars who deem eating with the spoon being closer to the Sunnah of the prophet Allah Allah Islam. You know why?
When you eat with a spoon, How many fingers do you use, you use three fingers. So they say based on that logic, it's actually closer to the sooner the prophets Allah Allah Islam. But having said all of that, we have to mention one very important guideline, it's part of fine dining, you know, fine dining, and it's part of the whole system. We have people consumed holding the fork with their left hand and the spoon or the knife with their right hand. It's generally the knife most of the time, all right, so they cut the meat or whatever it is, and then they have the fork with their left hand they pick it in and Mashallah they're eating like Who? The eating like the debtors of Hannah law.
And they feel very awkward or ashamed when they go to all these corporate events, if you will. I mean, they've got other people in front of them to switch the fork to the right hand because they feel Oh, this person might think I don't know about fine dining, or this person might think, you know, I'm like, perhaps not very educated, very respected elders and brothers in Islam, the teachings of Mohammed Salah Mali when he was cinema very clear. Like I said earlier, you can eat with a fork and spoon there is no need for you to discard a feed and eat with your fingers. If you wish to eat with a fork and spoon because it's less Messier. You can go ahead and eat with a fork
and spoon but make sure that you eat with your right hand and not the left hand. May Allah subhanho wa Taala open the doors of understanding for all of us. The next guideline is not to recline whilst eating.
This has been strongly prohibited by Mohammed Salah Allison always report to have said that I do not recline whilst eating you're not supposed to have like a big cushion behind you and recline like an emperor and he sat alone while you were Islam would never do that. And from this teaching, we will understand that there are many health benefits for us if we were to not even
Whilst reclined so you're not supposed to eat while reclining as per the teachings of Mohammed Salam while in reading. And finally, he sallallahu alayhi wa sallam would praise Allah subhanho wa Taala and we have a number of narrations, okay, he's alive. Islam has praised Allah in different ways. So it's best that you try and study these different jars that have been taught by Muhammad Sallallahu sallam, and keep alternating to act upon all of the narrations of Mohammed Salah. Listen, we have one two hours tonight Elijah would read Alhamdulillah Hilaire de Kapha Anna Juana via morphine balama Quran. All Praise be to Allah subhanho wa Taala who has sufficed for us by giving food or one
of whom has quench our thirst? Wait, I'm a Korean while I'm at Fudan and this favor cannot be compensated nor can it be denied. in another direction he salesianum good read Alhamdulillah he led the ATO ama Osaka was a wah wah which either Allahu Maharaja, Praise be to Allah subhanho wa Taala, who has fed us who has given us to drink was a worker who and who has also made the particles of food easy for us to swallow was the island who Maharajah and praise be to Him who has made a way out for all the waste products. When you consume a food you obviously have based products that are a byproduct of that food. And Allah has made a way for that for that further ways to leave our bodies
easily. So Praise be to Allah subhanho wa Taala for that as well. So my dear respected elders and brothers in Islam, as you can see, Islam has not left us groping in the dark Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wasallam did not leave us groping in the dark. On the other hand, he has taught us lovely and beneficial teachings that are very, very vital for a good and healthy lifestyle. So it is upon us to go into the sooner of Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam it is upon upon us to learn about all these etiquettes all these guidelines, and even more than the etiquettes and guidelines that are that are being highlighted by dietitians as long as they don't contradict the direct teachings of
the Quran and the Sunnah. We have no issues with it because at the end of the day, science has to stand on its own feet, if it can prove itself and stand by itself well and good if it contradicts with the Quran and the Sunnah. That's when we don't accept it as long as it does not contradict with the Quran and the Sunnah as long as it is in order with the Quran and the Sunnah or if it is in regard to something that the Quran and Sunnah are silent about we have no issues with modern science Alhamdulillah so there is no harm and you're looking into all these healthy eating habits to live a much more healthy lifestyle. These days, the phones that you have the watches that you have all
kinds of gadgets around you are promoting a healthier lifestyle, the new Apple Watch, it has a breathing exercise in it, it has walking, it has seating, it has a number of things. So it is best that you utilize all these gadgets like the Fitbit, all these kind of modern gadgets and trying to live a much more healthy, healthier lifestyle because this was a common theme across all the teachings of Muhammad Sallallahu it when he said you know what the Hadith where he's supposed to have said that a strong believer is more beloved to Allah subhanho wa Taala than a week believe both the believers are beloved unto Allah subhanho wa Taala but a strong and healthy believer is more
beloved to Allah. Why? Because the strong and healthy believer would do more good deeds, he would contribute better towards the deen of Allah subhanho wa Taala than the weak believer who is not bothered about his lifestyle, so it is upon us to live healthier lifestyles who strive to follow the teachings of Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. With that I conclude I asked Allah subhanho wa Taala to bless each and every one of us to help us all live healthier lifestyles to bless us with good health. And just as how united we're seeing this message Man United with the goddess of Genoa Beloved Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, I mean hamdulillah he'll be the island
