Muiz Bukhary – Divine Mercy Ar Rahman & Ar Raheem
AI: Summary ©
The speaker reminds listeners to be conscious of Allah's presence during every second of their lives and to bring in the consciousness of Allah during every single second of their lives. They emphasize the importance of the depth and depth of their mercy during every aspect of their lives, including the love of their loved ones, their parents, or their children. The universe is about 36,000 light years in diameter, and each galaxy has billions of stars and billions of cells. The father is panicking, and the mother is looking for a child. The speaker concludes by praying for the father to fill our hearts with his mercy and allow us to attain the great sun bill.
AI: Summary ©
My dear respected elders and brothers in Islam,
I begin by reminding myself and then all
of you all gathered here for salatuljumma'ah
in this masjid, in this house of Allah
and those of you from the brothers and
sisters who may watch or listen to the
recording later on, I remind myself
firstly
to enjoying a life of taqwa and that
is to bring in the consciousness of Allah
subhanahu wa ta'ala.
And we must do this, all believers,
all my congregation, all listeners.
We must do
this during every single second of our lives.
We must be conscious of Allah
during every single second of our lives
before
every action of ours,
before every word that we utter,
before whatever we do that Allah is aware
of what we are doing.
Allah knows what we are doing or what
we plan on doing, what we have done.
We must bring in this consciousness
if we wish to attain victory,
if we wish to attain success
in this world as well as the hereafter.
May Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala make us all
from the people of Taqwa and may he
make us from the victorious and successful ones.
The title for my sermon today
is divine
mercy,
a glimpse
at Ar Rahman
and Ar Raheem.
Ar Rahman
and Ar Raheem.
2
beautiful,
lofty
and extremely
powerful names of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala.
These two names
that we repeat
often.
Each time we open up the Quran.
In the name of Allah,
Ar Rahman
and Ar Rahim.
A loose translation would be the entirely merciful,
the especially merciful,
Ar Rahman
and Ar Raheem.
My dear brothers and sisters in Islam, these
two names of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala,
they both
stem
they both come
from the same root letters
raw
and meem, which give the meanings of rahmah.
In other words, in English
mercy.
These two names
stem from the same root
denoting
the mercy of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
Students of the Arabic language, those of you
who might be familiar with the Arabic language,
you would observe
that both names are upon
what is known as a hyperbolic
scale.
In the sense,
without
getting too technical,
if one were to say Rahim
in the Arabic language,
it would mean
someone who shows mercy
upon a regular level.
Someone
who shows mercy upon a regular level. But
if you look at these two names, Rahman,
it's different to Rahim.
Rahman with an alif and a noon at
the end. Rahman.
Right? It is upon a hyperbolic scale, an
exaggerated
scale.
If you go to try and translate it,
we're talking about the height
of mercy,
the pinnacle
of mercy,
a height of mercy that
we can never ever reach or attain.
It is at such heights, Rahman.
And even Raheem
Fa'il, again, another hyperbolic scale
which denotes
the highest level of exclusive
mercy.
The highest level
of exclusive
mercy
Ar Rahman and Ar Raheem.
The mercy of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
My dear
respected elders brothers and sisters in Islam, Allah
Azzawajal,
Allah who is our Rahman and our Raheem
is so merciful.
He's so loving.
He's so kind unto us.
We have a narration of the prophet sallallahu
alaihi wa sallam where he is reported to
have said hadith is authentic.
And the narration goes along the lines of
these words of.
That Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala,
he created mercy
and divided it into 100 parts,
100
parts.
One part of it he sent to this
world.
One part of it. 100th, by the way,
100th was sent to this world.
The remaining
99
parts
are with Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
And my dear brothers and sisters, it is
through this 100th,
this one part that was sent to this
world,
we see
love and mercy
manifesting
around us and within us in different forms
and ways.
To help you relate better,
look around you.
The love
that a mother
shows to her child
is from this 100th.
The love that a father
shows to his child, it is from this
100th.
The love the children show to their parents,
it is from this 100th.
The love that siblings show to one another,
it is from this 100th.
The love
that
a husband and a wife share and show
towards one another is from this 100th.
The love that you see in the animal
kingdom
where the birds look after their young ones,
The horses look after their young ones. The
lions look after their cubs.
The cattle look after their young ones.
Whichever
form of love and mercy that you see
manifest around you and, subhanallah, you have to
think deeply.
If you are a father,
think of the love that you have for
your child.
It is
it is so tender. Is it not?
You love
your loved ones so much. Think of the
love that you have for your mother. Think
of the love that you have for your
father.
Those of you who have lost your parents,
think of the aching love that you have
for your mother, that you have for your
father, that you have for your children.
All of this love and it's just not
your love. It is love
and care
from the time of Adam alaihis salatu as
salam. Okay. The entirety of creation,
whatever you see manifesting across the years, across
the annals of time until the end of
time,
it all stems and manifests itself from that
100.
99
is with Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
Allahu Akbar. Allahu
Akbar.
The whole purpose
of this sermon that few minutes that I
have with you all
is inshallah to fill your hearts
with
the depth of the mercy of Allah. You
must leave this masjid insha Allahu ta'ala
never ever doubting the mercy of Allah ever
again.
Ever again. Because the devil,
shaitan sinister plan
is to come in and plant
waswas,
plant thoughts
that oh, you have sinned so much
that you stand no chance to be forgiven
by Allah. You have drifted so far away.
You have done so much of wrong
that Allah will not forgive you.
That your sins are greater than the mercy
of Allah. That is wrong.
That is wrong.
The mercy of Allah
says, his mercy is greater than everything. It
encompasses
all of what he has created. His mercy.
The mercy of Allah. So don't ever
lose hope. Don't give in to despair.
My dear respected elders, brothers and sisters,
Which aya
is the greatest aya in the noble Quran?
Which aya
is the greatest ayah in the noble Quran?
Some of you might know the answer.
Which ayah is the greatest ayah in the
noble Quran?
If you are not already aware,
I'm not talking about Suras.
Okay. Some of you might be thinking Surah
Al Baqarah. I'm not thinking I'm not talking
about Suras.
I'm talking about ayah, which verse. It is
within Surat Al Baqarah.
Which ayah is this?
Ayatul Kursi.
Ayatul
Kursi.
The greatest, grandest, most loftiest ayah in the
noble Quran.
And in this ayah, Allah
himself talks about himself.
Who better to describe himself than Allah himself?
Allah says,
Allah.
There is no deity worthy of worship other
than him.
The ever
living.
Everything in the earth, everything in the heavens
belongs to him and the ayat go on.
This ayat is known as the greatest and
the grandest ayat.
Okay. Ayatul Kursi.
Now
we have a hadith.
This hadith, the prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam,
he mentions
and it is the hadith of Abu Dh
radiAllahu anhu. He says, I asked the messenger
sallallahu alaihi wa sallam
about Al Kursi.
I asked the messenger of Allah about Al
Kursi.
The prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam then said,
by the one in whose hands is my
soul.
The 7 heavens
and the 7 earths
all put together.
In other words, we're talking about the entirety
of the creation
in comparison
to the kursi.
Don't don't lose focus. Listen attentively.
In comparison to the Kursi,
look at the example of the prophet,
It's
like a tiny ring. You know the rings
that you wear on your fingers. A tiny
ring
thrown
into a vast
desert. I'll explain.
I want you all to picture the example.
Think of a desert a desert.
Okay. You have this vast desert in the
lands of Arabia perhaps. You have this Those
of you who have been to deserts, you
know how vast it is. How scary it
is.
Just dunes and dunes of sand. Wherever you
look, just sand. A vast desert.
Okay. A massive desert,
and you have a tiny ring thrown into
it.
My dear brothers and sisters, you tell me
if this ring if you were to perhaps
fly over the desert
in a chopper, in a helicopter, and let's
say you were to drop this ring, do
you think you'd be able to locate the
ring? Would you be able to find the
ring? Perhaps in today's context, if the ring
is equipped with GPS like an,
you know, air tag, maybe you might be
able to find it. But if you're talking
about a simple ordinary ring, you're not going
to be able to find it. Why? Because
it's such a tiny thing.
So the example of the prophet, the 7
heavens,
the 7 earth, the entirety of creation.
Okay?
In comparison to the kursi of Allah
is like a ring thrown into the desert.
In other words, the ring the ring is
the 7 heavens and the 7 earth. The
is the desert. Allahu Akbar.
Now those of you who have heard about
the arsh
arsh,
the throne of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. You
must know all believers
that the throne of Allah is the greatest
and the grandest of his creation.
The throne.
Arsh.
Now, the arsh and the kursi, when you
compare those 2 together,
the kursi,
we're talking about might, power, grandeur, loftiness,
grandiosity.
The Kursi becomes the ring and the arsh
becomes the desert.
The arsh becomes the desert. I know our
brains, our minds don't have the processing power.
It starts to stutter. It starts to get
baffled. Why? Because we can't comprehend
the vastness,
the greatness of the creation of Allah. And
just imagine
this arsh, the owner of it is Allah
subhanahu wa ta'ala.
You see, when I say it in words,
my dear brothers,
it might seem,
you know,
very simple. It might seem very simple. 7
heavens, 7 earths, we gloss over it.
I want you all to reflect on this
statement of the messenger of Allah sallallahu alaihi
wa sallam.
To reflect better
to reflect
better, take the planet that we are on,
planet Earth, planet Earth.
This planet that we are right now on,
when you look at the map,
the world map, you would all relate to
the fact that we are on a tiny
island
tiny island, Sri Lanka, beautiful country. May Allah
bless our country, but it is tiny. You'd
have to zoom in to see it.
Okay. And within that tiny island, we are
located in a tiny locality,
Colombo.
And within Colombo, Colombo 4. And within that,
this mustard. And then
individually, we are specks. We are nothing. Specks,
nothing.
Just
specks of dust in comparison to the grandeur
of the creation of Allah. Now this planet
that we are on, it has a diameter
of about 12,700
kilometers.
12,700
kilometers. To put things in perspective,
from here to trinkamelly, it is approximately 300
kilometers.
So the diameter of the the entire earth,
12,000
700 kilometers.
And it is the perfect size created by
Allah
to sustain life on this planet due to
the gravitational force which holds the atmosphere. It
holds the liquids in place.
Now, take the ocean.
The deepest place in the ocean
okay, is a place called
the Marina Trench.
And the depth of that particular point in
the ocean
is 35,000
odd feet,
35,000
odd feet. Now I want you all to
reflect on a point. You see this this
point, this depth,
human beings have not gone to that
depth. We as human beings cannot go.
Why? Because we cannot withstand the pressure.
We cannot withstand the pressure. For those of
you who have gone diving, you would relate
to it. I've been diving.
You
your lungs can only withstand a certain amount
of pressure. You have to go gradually acclimatizing.
You can't go. Like, you can't come up,
for example, all of a sudden. If you
come up, all of a sudden, may Allah
protect us. Your lungs could burst. Why? Because
we cannot withstand the pressure. So we're talking
about 35,000
feet. And by the way,
in those depths,
sunlight
does not reach. There's no light. It's pitch
dark pitch dark.
And pause for a moment. We know this
how because we have been able to send
robots. We've been able to send machines,
certain,
automated submarines to go in and capture video,
to capture photography,
pictures, and we are able to to a
certain extent
know what is going on there, but
we There is so much
that scientists say that almost
80%
of the ocean we have not explored.
80%.
Now within that 80%,
within that darkness,
there are creatures
that Allah has created
that we know nothing of that we know
nothing of. We know the whale. We know
of the sharks. We know of perhaps certain
sea creatures, but we are talking about depths
that we know nothing about.
And who is providing? Ask the question. Who
is providing for those creatures in the depths
of that ocean other than Allah
who is a razaq?
Then why
oh humble
slave of Allah.
Why are you so worried about your risk?
When Allah is providing for the creatures 35,000
feet in the depths of the ocean
within darkness and they are not going hungry,
why do you not have
perfect trust, perfect
in Allah that he is a razak
that he will provide for me. He will
provide for me.
So 35,000
feet.
Okay? When you talk about the universe
the universe,
we're talking about
the observable universe, that much that we can
see
or look through machines.
It is about
93,000,000,000
light years in diameter, diameter, and
it contains
over 2
trillion
galaxies.
We are in 1 galaxy known as the
Milky Way Galaxy, not the chocolate.
Milky Way Galaxy. Alright. There are 2 trillion
galaxies.
2 trillion.
How much is a billion?
Sometimes you get confused with the numbers.
A a billion
is not 10,000,000.
A billion is not a 100,000,000.
A billion is a 1000,000,000.
And we're not talking about billions here. We're
talking about trillions.
2 We're talking about 2,000,000,000,000
galaxies,
and each galaxy
has billions of stars. Billions of stars. Subhanallah.
The sun
is so big
that we can fit When we look at
it from here, subhanAllah, the sun looks small.
Right? It looks small. But you know how
big it is. We can fit our planet
earth
1.3000000
times into the sun.
We can fit planet earth
1.3000000
times
into the sun.
My dear brothers and sisters, this is the
creation outside.
You know, you don't have to look too
far.
Look within you.
Look at the universe.
Look at the galaxy within you. SubhanAllah.
The human body.
You know the nervous system,
the nerves all around our bodies that carry
blood across our bodies. It carries signals to
our brains. Like, if I were to touch
this
and if it were to be cold and
smooth,
that signal travels to my brain through my
nerves. So you have nerves across the body.
This nervous system, if you were to remove
it from 1 human being, from 1 human
being, and if you were to stretch it
out
stretch it out and lay it from end
to end, the entire nervous system,
it
is more than 4 times
the circumference of the earth. In other words,
you can go around earth 4 times with
the length of one nervous system.
100,000 miles in length. You can go around
earth 4 times. Let that sit in.
Let that sit in. You can go around
earth 4 times with your nervous system. SubhanAllah.
SubhanAllah.
Talking about
our cells and DNA,
one human body
consists of about 37.2
trillion cells.
And each cell, each
tiny cell
contains roughly
2 meters of DNA.
And if you were to take the DNA
of 1 human being, again, 1 human being
and if you were to stretch it,
it would be twice the diameter of the
entire solar system. Not earth.
Solar system. You studied it in school. All
the planets, the sun, and everything put together.
1 human being's DNA.
Look at the universe within us. Look at
the galaxy within us. Who created this?
Allah. Who put every nerve
intricately in place?
Was it some fancy
scientific research company? Was it some fancy hospital?
Was it a team of doctors? It was
Allah.
Allah
within
the wounds of your mothers, within layers of
darkness, Allah created you. Allah fashioned you. Allah
gave you what you have, and Allah put
every nerve in place.
Allah put every cell in place.
Every bit of information within the cells put
by
Today, we are fascinated about the size of
processes, computer processes. They're becoming smaller and smaller
and smaller.
All right? Becoming That's why our devices are
becoming more and more powerful. Smaller devices, even
mobile phones are like computers today. Why? Because
the processes are becoming so small.
But look at how much of information is
captured within the human cell. Allahu Akbar. Allahu
Akbar. Nanometers.
So tiny. So precise.
Who put it? Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. Now
why am I mentioning all of this, my
dear brothers? Now you will understand.
Allah says in the Quran,
The ayah.
It is our Rahman
who ascended over his throne.
How did he ascend over his throne?
Did he ascend like a human being?
No.
He ascended
in a manner that befits his majesty and
his glory.
But look at the usage.
We're talking about a throne
and the ascension of a throne.
Allah did not say
the king.
Allah, the king ascended over the throne. Allah
did not use the name Al Jabbar,
the compeller. He did not use names of
power and might
despite
the throne being the context for it. Because
generally when you talk about the throne, you're
talking about dominion, you're talking about rule, you're
talking about might and power.
In the Quran, nothing comes about by coincidence.
If Allah used something, it is with the
divine purpose.
So when talking about the throne
and power and rule and dominion, Allah specifically
chose the name Ar Rahman.
Ar Rahman, the entirely merciful.
Imam Ibn Al Qayyim Rahimahullah, famous scholar of
the past,
a contemporary of Imam Ibn Kathir Rahimahullah
who you know is the author of the
famous tafsir Ibn Kathir
He writes
that perhaps,
a divine wisdom or rather a beautiful wisdom,
a subtle wisdom that we can deduce here
is that the arsh is the greatest of
the creation of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala.
And I just gave you the comparison of
the earth, of the universe, of the sun,
of the human body,
of all this it baffles your mind and
the arsh is greater than that.
Why? The hadith that I shared at the
beginning.
All of this is like a tiny ring
and the arsh is like the desert. So
the arsh is obviously bigger. Now you were
baffled by the earth. You were baffled by
the depths in the ocean. You were baffled
by the sun. You were baffled by the
universe. You are baffled by
the 2,000,000,000,000
galaxies.
You are baffled by the human body, by
the nervous system, by the DNA.
All of this is in the 7 heavens
and the 7 earths. And when you compare
it to the arsh, it is like a
ring. Nothing.
And the Arsh is grander and greater than
all of this
and Allah uses Ar Rahman.
Why?
To indicate
that his mercy
is greater than that as well. It is
latif. It is a very subtle indication, but
those who are intelligent
will pick up on it.
His mercy
is greater than that also.
Allahu Akbar.
His mercy is greater and encompasses even the
grandest
and
This is the mercy of Allah. This is
why my dear brothers and sisters, I mentioned
this and conclude. Once the prophet sallallahu alaihi
wa sallam was seated with the sahabah,
They see a mother
who had lost her child,
and she's frantically
looking for her child. Just imagine all fathers
in the crowd or mothers who will later
listen to the recording.
If you lose your child in a mall,
a big open space at a fair, at
a carnival.
You obviously panic. Your little child. You have
lost your child. You start to panic so
much of anxiety.
So this mother is panicking. She's looking for
a child, perhaps the Sahaba were going to
go help her.
Then they spot her spotting her child. And
now you can see
relief washing down the face of the mother
just like any father. If you suddenly you're
looking for your child. Your child is lost.
You're going everywhere, telling everybody, asking everybody, did
you see a child wearing this t shirt,
wearing this clothes, this this tall? And then
suddenly you see him.
You're you're so happy now. You're so relieved.
Relief washing down your face. You run to
your child. You hug your child. You hold
your child so close. This mother clutches onto
her child. She hugs her child to her
bosom.
The messenger of Allah sallallahu alaihi
wa sallam looking at this scene unfold.
He looks at the sahaba and he says,
oh my sahaba.
The narration goes along the lines of these
words. Do
you think
that this mother
this mother
will throw
her child
into a fire?
They all replied horrified.
No, You Rasool Allah.
She would not throw her child into a
blazing fire.
Then the messenger went on to say, oh
my Sahaba, you should know
that Allah
is many many many more times
more merciful,
more loving,
more caring
unto his slaves than this mother is towards
her child.
This is the mercy of Allah. This is
the love of Allah.
You see on the day of tayama,
you and I, we are going to be
questioned by Allah.
Just imagine
if Allah were to say
just an example.
Is above all these examples, but for our
minds to understand. If Allah were to tell
you,
oh my slave,
your questioning, your particular questioning is going to
be done
by your mother,
Would you not be relieved?
Would you not
breathe a sigh of relief?
Why? Because your mother
my mother is going to question me.
You're going to be so confident. Why? Because
you are 100%
confident in the love that your mother has
for you, in the mercy that your mother
has for you.
Oh, slave of Allah,
if you have so much of confidence in
your mother's
love, you should have
many many many more times
more confidence
in the love that Allah has towards you
because
Allah is more loving than your own mother
is towards you. Allah is more kind, more
caring, more merciful
unto you than your own mother is towards
you. You know that you can run to
your mother with anything. She will not turn
you away. You run to her. You cry
and you say forgive me, mom. Forgive me
and she'll forgive you.
Right? You know that and you're so confident.
You know you can win her over.
Allah is many more times more merciful than
your own mother. So why are we running
away from Allah? Why are we running away
from Allah?
We should run towards him.
Free towards Allah.
So therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, I
hope I was able to instill
a little bit glimpse of the mercy of
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. The love that Allah
subhanahu wa ta'ala has for us. I conclude
by praying that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala fills
our hearts
with true and proper understanding of his mercy
so that we understand that we should not
run away from him. We should run towards
him. We pray that Allah forgives us of
our sins. We pray that he accepts our
good deeds. We pray on this beautiful Friday
where he has united us here in this
masjid that he opens doors of barakah for
all of us, Amin. That he opens doors
of opportunity for us, Amin. That he protects
our assets, Amin. That he protects our wealth,
Amin.
That he protects our children, I mean. That
he protects our families and our marriages,
you Allah. Protect our marriages, you Allah. Protect
our children, you Allah. You Allah, protect our
parents if they are alive, you Allah. Bless
them with good long, healthy, and productive lives,
you Allah. If they passed away, you Allah,
make their graves into beautiful gardens of Jannah,
you Allah.
Enlighten their graves, you Allah. You Allah, give
us opportunities to do good deeds on behalf
of them you Allah. The season of and
is coming around you Allah. Help each and
every one of us to revive the great
sunnah of Ibrahim alayhis salaam you Allah. The
great sunnah of Muhammad
And just as how you united us here,
united us in the lofty gardens of Jannah,
in the companionship of our beloved prophet Muhammad
sallallahu alaihi wa sallam.
