Mufti Menk – Ramadan 2014 – Day 5 – Ali Ibn Abi Talib

			Assalamu alaykum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh
		

			smilla rahmanir rahim al hamdu Lillahi Rabbil alameen wa sallahu wa salam wa barik ala Nabi
ramatuelle houda Mohamed el amin ala alihi wa sahbihi naka harina woman tabea home. Be sun in Isla

			We praise Allah subhanahu wa taala we send blessings and salutations upon Muhammad sallallahu alayhi
wa sallam, all his companions, his entire household May Allah bless them and bless every single one
of us. My brothers and sisters, a beautiful evening here in Malaysia, and we ask Allah Subhana Allah
to Allah to bless every single one of us, including those who are listening from overseas. May Allah
subhanahu wa taala grant us the ability to learn lesson from the lives of the companions of Muhammad
sallallahu alayhi wa sallam who were indeed the best of hearts after the prophets of Allah subhanho
wa Taala. This evening we will be looking at the life of the great Ali even Taliban rhodiola when he
		

			was the fourth Salif in Islam, and he took over from us man up near Fern rhodiola when he was born

from amongst the boys to accept Islam and how exactly it happened. There are two versions, but both
of them are quite similar in the generation, the one says that Allah subhanaw taala the Allahu anhu

			then one of the famous stories in the life of Allah, tala, the Allahu anhu was the story at the time
of the hegira of Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wasallam when he was migrating to Al Madina, munawwara
that night, the co founder of Quraysh, the disbelievers had plotted to kill Muhammad sallallahu
alayhi wasallam they actually sent people to encircle the house of Muhammad sallallahu alayhi
wasallam and Allah subhanho wa Taala instructed Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wasallam to let Ali
Vitali Allahu anhu lay in his bedding. Amazing. This was something that would have put the life of
someone at risk, because these people were planning to kill Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wasallam they
		

			could have stormed the house and attacked the person in the bidding, believing that it was the
bidding of Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wasallam. But here, Allah tala the Allahu anhu immediately
agreed, and he was the one on the bidding of Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam that night when
Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam left the home. They did not even know that he is no longer in
the house. They saw the bedding and they said he's still there, not realizing that it was olive oil
on the following day. When they started to find out who was in the bedding. They realized it was
actually Ali, Vitali rhodiola. And so this was one of the great sacrifices that were made by Ali

			My brothers and sisters, they came a time the second year after the hegira of Muhammad sallallahu
alayhi wasallam wherein Ali ibn Abi Talib radi Allahu anhu was married to the daughter of Muhammad
sallallahu alayhi wasallam known as Fatima Binti Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. So what
exactly happened? Well, when Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam asked him, oh, Ali, what do you
have? You want to marry my daughter, but what do you have to give her in terms of a Maha? Now you
and I would know that Muhammad is not a dowry in every sense of the meaning of the term dowry. It is
a gift that is given from the groom to the bride. And that is something that Islam has stipulated in
		

			order for us to acknowledge the status of a woman and the fact that the male is primarily
responsible for the upkeep or for looking after the women and for spending on them. May Allah
subhanahu wa taala make it easy for us primarily, the man is supposed to be the breadwinner. May
Allah subhanahu Allah grant us ease. So Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam knew that this man does
not own a home. He's not a wealthy man. He doesn't have much, but he gave him his daughter.
		

			This is a lesson for us all today. When you want to get married. First thing you do is you ask the
man, what do you have? What type of a job do you have? What car do you drive? Do you have a house?
How much is your salary? What figure do you have? If not, we fight with the daughter and say not
this man. He's not good enough, not realizing that our own fathers and I'm sure those whom I'm
speaking to today, our fathers or grandfathers when they got married, they were much happier than we
are. And they married those who had absolutely no house, no shoes some time. They were just honest,
upright, pious people and they were people who the fathers of the girls knew that this person is so
		

			honest and so responsible, that he will look after my daughter even if he doesn't have something
right now, but he's a responsible man. So they let them get married. They were happier than those in
our generation who look for money prior to you getting married. So how is it you will only be
married at the age of 40 My beloved brother because that is when you will own a house.
		

			Make it easy for us to look at the lesson of Ali
		

			Baba and he married the daughter of the greatest of all. Fatima bint Mohammed radi Allahu Allah. And
Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam loved his daughter so much. Do you think he would have given
his daughter to someone who really had absolutely nothing? According to Muhammad sallallahu alayhi
wa sallam Ali ibn Abu Talib had a lot he had a man he was an upright youngster. He grew up with
Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wasallam. So his character and his religion were of a very, very high
level if not one of the highest.

the market to sell his armor. So a man of near fan who was married to the other daughter of Muhammad
sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. So these are now brothers in law, right? So he says, oh, Holly, what

daughter of Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam Fatima this man was so happy he said can I pay you

even want to look at each other. May Allah Subhana Allah to Allah grant us ease. This was the love
between a man and not be your loved one. They were brothers in law and they loved each other from
the very beginning. In fact, Abu Bakr Siddiq Viola and there was so much of love between him and Ali
ibn Abu Talib rhodiola one that during the time of Abu Bakr, Siddiq rhodiola and Ali, Vitali Viola

was born and the fourth year Allah saying was born out of the womb Jimmy and May Allah subhanho wa
Taala be pleased upon all of them.

are the quotations and sayings of the wise Ali, Vitali Allah and there are two things a lot of these

life, that Oh Allah regarding you, the people will be divided into two extremes. They will be people
who will love you so much that they will raise you beyond your rank. And there will be people who
will dislike you so much that they will remove you from the fold meaning they will drop you from
from your rank. We are people who are in the middle. We state his credentials exactly as they are,
we love him and respect him. We will not utter one word against Allah. Allah one, just as we will
		

			not utter words against any one of the other companions of Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wasallam

of that handful because of their level. So none of us are allowed to speak bad about any of the
		

			companions of Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam because we are far far far away from them in
virtue. May Allah subhanahu wa taala grant us even a little bit of virtue, I mean, so Muhammad
sallallahu alayhi wa sallam at the time of revelation used to call Ali sometimes, and asked him to
write because he could read and write yet Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was Unlimited,
unlimited in a respectful way, meaning he was kept from reading and writing by the wisdom of Allah
subhanho wa Taala. So that nobody could accuse him of having read the previous scriptures and having
come with something so it is not something that one would say is a negative quality. Now it will be
		

			law, but in fact, it is so positive. Allah subhanho wa Taala says on

			phone or messenger before the sporran you are unable to read and write, had you been able to read
and write perhaps those who would have liked to find fault would have found fault, but they cannot

a powerful reader and writer. Perhaps they would have said that you know what he has just read the
previous scriptures and so on. May Allah subhanahu wa taala protect us and grant us at least the
ability to read this revelation that has come to us and learn from it. We are in the month of the
Quran. My brothers and sisters ask yourselves, what is your link with this plan? So Alec Nabi Talib
		

			was known as katiba ye Rasulullah sallallahu sallam, he was one who used to write the revelation of
Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam he used to write the Quran. Then if we take a careful look at

			remember the famous statement of Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam Allah He, la de la jolla noir

			let's stop there because it's important for us to learn a lesson. This was at the time of war.
Muhammad Sallallahu Sallam is telling a lie. Don't just go around killing people, no, guide them,
teach them if they are guided through your effort, it is better for you imagine today you have
people in the name of Islam going around killing people and saying we are following the Sunnah of
Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wasallam it's very, very sad. Subhana Allah, how people do not learn from
this beautiful statement of Mohammed salatu salam to Ali ibn Abu Talib, he says well, Allahu Allah,
you know, don't just be trigger happy, learn to spread the guidance, remember to go out and guide
		

			the people. Some people look at non Muslims and say these are the enemies of Islam. Whereas we are
taught that you look at the non Muslims and say these are all potential Muslims some way up the
ladder. Our forefathers were non Muslim as well. May Allah subhanho wa Taala use us to spread the
deen and may He use us to be vehicles of the spreading of the goodness we should not be selfish with
the goodness if we were taught to eradicate everyone who was not a Muslim, believe me, we would
never have existed because our forefathers would have been eradicated A long time ago. They will not
Muslim at some stage. So my brothers and sisters a powerful statement that from Muhammad sallallahu
		

			alayhi wasallam too early
		

			on and we learn from it.
		

			When it comes to the time of Abu Bakr, Siddiq, Allah and many people say that earlier the Allahu
anhu was upset and he did not want Abu Bakr Al Khalifa that is very far from the truth. He was one
of the first to stretch his hand when he was in his home and one of the people came to him and told

child, his name was Maha

The other one was Omar Ali. The other one was Ali. Allahu anhu. But people don't tell us this, do

sisters, be careful of people who come to you to create discord between you and your brethren in
faith. May Allah subhanahu wa taala grant us ease.

found out the depth of what was happening. He sent a message to his man saying I have with me 500 of
the companions of Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, I can send them to you now in order to
eradicate those who are trying to harm you. Yet those who are trying to harm us men were the ones
who are saying that Ali should be appointed as Calif and himself he was so powerful and so just he
said no ways these people are wrong. We can send the companions in order to defend the earth man,
		

			this man What a great man. He even named his child after a man have now found rhodiola one man up
near a fan responded to this. And he said I would not like to see the blood of Muslims being spilt
because of me. I'd rather die than to see massacre amongst the Muslim in this was this was the

question. He says, I want to inform you, the houses you have left have already been occupied. The
wealth that you left has already been distributed and is being spent by others, the wives that
you've left already married to others. This is the news that we have. Tell us about the news that
		

			you have low about addressing the graves. He told him everything is happening, how you left it, it's
all continuing. It's gone. But we want to know about you. Then he looked at the people and he said
one lie. If these people could talk to us, they would tell us in higher Azadi taqwa the best
provision that you can actually have in order to get into the grave would be the piety of Allah
consciousness of Allah subhanho wa Taala. My brothers and sisters, I have a lesson from this and so
do you may Allah subhanahu wa taala grant us all goodness, and may He make us from those who learn
the lesson from this? Now if we take a look at another story
		

			earlier, the Allahu anhu lost his armor at one stage when he was the Amir.
		

			And so when he went to Kufa, he found the Jewish man selling this armor. He looked at it and he
said, Hey, this is my armor. The Jewish man says No, it's mine. I'm selling it. It's in my hands. So
