My beloved brothers
and sisters, be conscious of the day in
which you are going to be returning to
Allah.
And then every soul shall be accountable for
everything that it has done and no one
will be able to avail another.
It is the day when the children will
not be able to be saved by their
own parents and vice versa.
My brothers and sisters, every Friday, it is
our duty to gather in the masjid in
order to listen to a message that will
draw us closer to Allah and His Messenger
ﷺ.
A message that will remind us of halal
and haram.
A message that will encourage us to become
better Muslims.
And that is one of the biggest aims
of the Friday.
Hence, when the khutbah or the sermon is
going on, it is prohibited for us to
engage in anything else unnecessarily.
May Allah Almighty grant us the true benefit
of the Friday and make us from among
those who are winners every single Friday.
Ameen.
Ya Rabbal Alameen.
My brothers and sisters, shaitan, the devil, Allah
Almighty created him.
And Allah knows best why.
We don't ever question Allah what he does.
not answerable for what he does to anyone.
No one can ask Allah.
He is the creator.
He does what he wishes.
But everyone else is answerable to him.
So if Allah has done something, it is
through his wisdom, his divine knowledge, his power,
his beautiful qualities and his names.
And if something has happened to us, yes,
it happens by the permission of Allah.
At times we are to blame because he
gave us a certain amount of capacity in
order to do or not to do.
And whatever we did or did not do
resulted in what finally or ultimately happened.
And so we would be responsible to that
degree.
But where something occurs and we had no
role to play in it, Allah will never
ever hold us responsible for that.
If something happens in your life and you
had no role to play in it, you
are not accountable.
But if something happened in your life and
it was a result directly or indirectly of
something you did or did not do, then
you are indeed responsible to that degree.
The reason I say this is Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala told us that I created
Satan.
In fact, in such a unique way, he
reminded us about the whole plan that Satan
has when Allah Almighty created Adam.
Allah did not need to create Adam from
the clay or the soil or the dirt
or the dust of the earth.
But he chose to do that.
And Allah did not need that Iblis.
May Allah's curse be upon him.
Allah did not need that Iblis refused to
prostrate.
If Allah wanted, it would not have been
that.
But Allah wanted it for a reason.
What was the reason in order to test
us?
He created us as a unique creation.
Angels do not disobey Allah.
Satan does not obey Allah.
In the middle, you have Insan, man, you
and I.
Allah says, we show you what is right
and wrong.
We give you the capacity to distinguish between
the two.
We give you the brains to understand it.
And we expect you using that God-given
capacity to do the right thing and abstain
from the wrong.
So man is in the middle.
If someone were to commit a sin, it
is because that person has chosen to commit
a sin.
You can never do something wrong and say,
I only did it because Allah wanted me
to do it.
You cannot say that.
Allah says, I gave you the capacity and
I told you not to do it.
When we see our brothers and sisters and
the children of Gaza and Lebanon and Syria
and so many other places being butchered.
May Allah protect them.
When we see them being slaughtered and the
genocide being committed and people afraid to call
it a genocide.
And people for whatever political reasons or selfish
reasons or racial reasons, whatever the reasons may
be for them to abstain from calling it
what exactly it is.
When we witness that, don't blame Allah.
People say, why would Allah allow children to
be killed?
The true question is, why are human beings
doing it?
Human beings are doing it and you are
blaming Allah.
Allah told you not to do it.
So if someone is pinching, don't blame Allah
for that pinching.
If someone is committing zina or adultery, don't
blame someone for the adultery.
Sorry, don't blame Allah for it.
Don't blame Allah for the sins that are
being committed on earth.
Allah told you, I gave you the capacity
and I told you what to do and
not to do.
Very soon you are going to return to
me, then I will inform you what the
result of your examination and your test was.
So when an examiner has dished out the
examination papers and the students are writing, when
they make mistakes, do you blame the examiner?
No, you don't.
It's up to you.
You know 1 plus 1 is 2.
You are the one who willfully wrote 3
and then you want to blame us?
May Allah Almighty forgive us.
So don't let anyone fool you to say
whatever crime is happening, it's because Allah is
not merciful.
Allah is the most merciful, the most kind.
Allah says, had he punished people instantly because
of the sins they committed, there would be
no one left on earth.
That's a verse of the Quran.
May Allah Almighty forgive us.
But
it's the plan of Allah to delay you
for a short period of time that is
fixed.
Man will not live for more than 70
to 100 years.
Mostly, no one really survives beyond that point.
In fact nowadays, in many countries we are
hearing of people passing away even earlier than
that.
May Allah grant Jannatul Firdaus to all those
members of the ummah who passed on.
And may Allah make it easy for us
the day we pass on.
So remember, when things occur, when someone does
something, it is Allah Almighty who gave them
a capacity.
Yes indeed.
And Allah guided them, Allah showed them, Allah
told them.
If they did not obey, you don't blame
Allah.
You blame them.
And if they obeyed, you thank Allah.
Because He granted them acceptance.
When Allah uses you to put some money
in this beautiful masjid, Masjid al-Nur, which
according to my opinion is one of the
best in the whole region, if not perhaps
in the whole continent inshallah.
If Allah used you to put money in
it, for eternity you will be benefiting from
it.
Even if it was one dollar or one
naira.
And it would mean Allah accepted you and
guided you to do something in the right
direction.
So we are thankful when goodness happens because
Allah guided us to it.
Many people sometimes they have a lot of
money, but they will not spend it on
a good cause, they will spend it on
some other cause, right?
It happens so many times where you can
go to someone who has a lot of
wealth, and you are begging the person or
asking them to spend it on a really
really good cause, but they simply do not
see the light.
We would say perhaps Allah wants to use
someone else's money for that.
The work will not stop.
The work will progress.
But whoever Allah has chosen to do the
good, they will do the good.
And the reward of it continues for as
long as some form of benefit is achieved
by the deed and the action or the
donation that you have done.
May Allah use us to do good.
That's why we always ask Allah, O Allah,
help me, use me to do good.
O Allah, make it difficult for me to
do haram.
This is a dua I always speak
about, and I try to make the dua,
the supplication myself, O Allah, grant us sufficiency
in halal so that we are protected from
haram.
Save us from haram by giving us the
halal option.
You would like to engage in intimacy with
the opposite *, ask Allah, O Allah, give
it to me in a halal way, so
that I am protected from haram.
Subhanallah.
And the examples continue.
You want sustenance?
The same supplication says,
O Allah, grant me sufficiency through you and
your virtue in a way that I do
not have to depend on anyone else.
I don't have to ask anyone else.
May Allah grant us that.
So, it shows us that when we have
committed a sin and done something wrong, quickly
turn to Allah and regret it.
The only time you regret a sin is
when you have faith.
If you don't have faith, you will not
regret.
You will do it again and again, and
you will be more and more excited to
commit a sin.
If you find yourself becoming excited to commit
a sin, you need to recheck your faith
in God.
You need to recheck your belief in Allah.
Because that means you are not bothered about
the day of hisab.
I started off this talk by saying,
Be conscious of the
day when you are going to return back
to Allah.
And you will see your deeds.
Good you will see, bad you will see.
We hear that so
many times.
Whoever does an atom's weight of good will
see it.
And whoever does an atom's weight of bad
will see it.
There is one exception.
The exception is when you've done an atom's
weight of bad, but you sought forgiveness of
Allah while you were alive.
He deletes it.
Subhanallah.
You won't see it.
It may appear as a good deed.
Because to turn back to Allah after you
were involved for so long in that which
was haram, is a good deed.
You would not be able to engage in
that good deed had it not been for
your dark past or for the bad things
you did.
Therefore, when you do something bad, do not
lose hope in Allah.
Repent to Allah and you convert the bad
into good.
Because now, what makes you return to Allah
and seek forgiveness?
Is it not only because you are worried
about the day when you are going to
return to Allah?
Well then, good news to you.
Good news!
Allah loves you, and the whole purpose of
creation of man was in order for man
to fall to the weakness of humankind and
seek the forgiveness of Allah.
And that's why Adam a.s. was not
placed on earth until he committed a sin
and sought forgiveness of Allah.
If Allah wanted, He could have placed him
on earth first, right at the beginning, go,
go to the earth.
No, Allah waited.
Allah put him in a special place known
as Jannah, Jannatul Ibtila.
A certain garden, wherein Allah wanted to test
him.
Allah waited.
He did not push him or send him
to the earth yet.
Then he committed a sin.
And Allah had already warned him, watch out
about this Iblis, because you know what?
He is jealous.
He is jealous of your relationship with me,
primarily.
Allahu Akbar.
Anything and everything Iblis wants you and I
to do is because he is jealous of
our relationship with Allah.
And that's why when Islam gives the importance
of prayer as a pillar of faith, you
must know it is because it is a
shield that protects you from Shaitan.
The one who prays five times a day
correctly, there is a far lesser chance of
Shaitan deviating him in a bigger way.
Lesser chance.
I'm not saying he won't do it, he
will always try.
But when you are praying five times a
day, you have a great protection and power
given by Allah.
And for those people Allah says, Inna kayda
ash-shaitani kana da'eefa The plot of
the devil is very weak.
It's very weak.
It's always weak.
May Allah Almighty strengthen us against Shaitan.
So when he committed the sin, Adam a
.s, Allah did not send him on earth
yet.
What did Allah wait for?
Allah waited for him to repent.
When he repented, Allah did not send him
on earth yet.
What did Allah do?
Allah accepted the repentance.
When Allah accepted the repentance, then he said,
Now you can go on to the earth.
Allahu Akbar.
Subhanallah.
Why?
Hadihi sunnatukum.
This is the way things will be happening.
And whenever any one of you fall and
falter, turn back to Allah.
Subhana rabbiyal a'la.
So you and I were created human.
That's why we have desires.
That's why we have inclination sometimes towards something
that might not be pleasing to Allah.
Allah says, When you are inclined towards something
not pleasing to me, and you held yourself
back, I will reward you for the mere
fact that the only reason why you held
yourself back was because of me.
That's a sign of your connection with Allah.
It is reported that when alcohol was prohibited,
the sahaba radiallahu anhum threw away whatever they
had.
Why?
The love of Allah.
The same alcohol that they were buying and
selling and consuming and whatever else was happening,
within a split second, they did not like
it anymore.
It was over.
Would you like to enter into the mercy
of Allah?
Into the circle known as the friends of
Allah?
Then whenever there is something haram, drop it,
split second, for the sake of Allah.
See what Allah does for you in the
future.
In this world, you will lead a more
content life.
And in the akhira, it is eternal bliss.
Whoever leaves something for Allah, Allah raises his
status, Allah will grant him even more.
May Allah Almighty grant us ease.
So shaitan's plan is such that he will
come, he will make us do all sorts
of things.
And as a result, we as human beings
will probably falter.
In fact, there is a hadith that says,
All human beings, all
the children of Adam, they make mistakes often.
خطاء, notice the شداء It is to express
repetition of it.
You will falter.
And faltering here refers to both, that which
is done by error and that which is
done intentionally, the sins that are committed.
When you make a mistake completely blunder, Allah
says, we won't hold it against you.
That was a mistake.
It was just an error, that's it.
For example, you are praying, and by mistake
you missed out something.
That man behind you will correct you, if
you are reading aloud.
You will not be punished for that.
You are a human, you made an error.
It was forgetfulness.
Human nature.
You rectified it, it's okay.
But if you intentionally want to make a
mistake, which none of us will do because
we are believers, but if some person who
thinks they know any better and they want
to do that, then what is that?
That is now sinful.
May Allah Almighty protect us.
It becomes very depressing
when you hear that all of us are
sinful.
Some people might think, that means all of
us are going to *.
Allah says, no, no, no, no.
The best from among those who commit sins
or who make mistakes are those who repent.
They turn to Allah often, as often and
even more.
And that's why if you study the life
of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, he sought forgiveness
but he did not have sins.
Because he wanted to teach us, this is
how you should do it.
Keep your tongue moist in seeking forgiveness.
Let me tell you one benefit.
There are many.
One, I want to tell you.
When you are constantly genuinely saying,
Through the day, you will be
protected from committing more sins.
Because all day I'm saying, Oh Allah, forgive
me, forgive me.
Then there's a sin to be committed, you
are looking at it in the eyes.
And what is on your tongue?
You will automatically look
down and say, إِلَٰهَ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ Oh my Lord,
I'm going to come back to you, have
mercy on me.
May Allah forgive our shortcomings.
My brothers and sisters, as much as shaitan
is trying hard, and many people go to
the devil.
I want to speak on one more point
before I close.
Many people go to shaitan.
How do they go to shaitan?
By going to people who claim to have
control in one way or another of things.
They want you to engage in magic.
It's increasing a lot.
People from Muslim homes, people who call themselves
Muslims, when they are upset because someone married
another, they go and do magic.
Wallahi, it is the worst crime.
It is actually شِرْك بِاللّٰهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ It
is association of partners with Allah.
The hadith says, whoever
engages in magic has associated partners with Allah.
You
know the verse of the Quran, Allah does
not forgive those who associate partners with Him
unless they repent while they are alive completely.
So they will go to someone, even if
that person calls himself religious, if someone is
claiming, I can do this, I can bring
your money back, I can change the heart
of this person, they will love you, they
will hate you, I can break that marriage,
I can...
All of that is major, major sin in
Islam.
You as a Muslim need to lead a
clean life.
You make dua and you supplicate to Allah.
You call out to Allah.
When things happen, you surrender because Allah chose
it to happen.
If you did not get the business deal,
don't go to someone who calls himself a
malam and start engaging in magic or dirty
things in order to get the business deal
or to destroy the one who got the
deal.
Be happy for others who have got the
deal instead of you.
Because that was Allah giving them sustenance and
not you.
Yours will come more than that when you
are happy with what Allah gave them.
Many people are not happy when another person
is earning money because they are feeling threatened.
That is a sign of weakness of faith
no matter who you are.
Remember this.
None of you are true
believers until you love for your brother what
you love for yourself.
If someone has opened a store just like
yours across the road, be happy for them.
I learnt this when I travelled to the
Middle East especially to Medina Munawwara and Mecca
Mukarrama and some of the countries where you
see one shop selling electronics there are 50
other shops in the same mall selling the
same thing.
And they all believe sustenance is from Allah.
It's okay.
People know you want something, go to that
mall.
All the shops are there together.
When they are selling thobes or they are
selling abayas or something the whole mall is
abaya mall.
All the shops are 20, 30.
Why would they do that?
They are not fools.
They believe in Allah.
I would like to presume that it is
because they firmly believe sustenance is from Allah.
It's okay.
Let's make it easy on the customer.
Whereas with many of us, if we have
one store and someone opens another one, it's
like qiyamah came before time.
May Allah forgive us.
We cannot sleep, we cannot eat, we cannot
drink.
We'll go to this malam, that malam, we
gave up our faith.
Why?
Because that guy got 5 naira more than
us or 5 dollars more than us.
Or it is maybe presumed he might get
business.
For what?
For what?
The dunya, you are not going to be
able to spend.
None of us is going to be able
to spend more than a certain amount.
You will never die until every last grain
of rice written for you will be eaten
by you and you alone.
Allahu Akbar.
Your naira and your dollar is never ever
going to be eaten by another person.
It's impossible.
It is on Allah.
Allah has written it.
Now it's just a test.
So therefore be happy for others.
Support others.
Help others to grow.
Allah will give you happiness and joy.
Allah will give you contentment.
Build people.
Look at others and try to empower them
and see what Allah does for you.
So shaitan comes to us and makes us
try to go to people or to do
things.
Some people, they start tying knots and blowing
on these knots and start doing some actions
that are considered magic.
Spoken about by the Prophet ﷺ.
And even if you read the mu'awwidat,
the last two surahs of the Quran, you
The
evil of the blowing in the knots.
They'll take your hair, they'll take your nails,
they'll take your clothes, they'll take something, they'll
put something in your food, you eat something,
and wallahi all of this, you lose your
faith.
You've got to renew your faith in Allah.
You lose your faith.
You did it or instructed it, both of
them.
You've lost your faith.
May Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala forgive us.
Do you want to hear about instructing someone?
Whoever goes to these fortune tellers,
just going to them, those fortune tellers, and
those who are quhan, these magicians who want
to let you know I will do this
and that, and whatever they call themselves, there
are many names, the hadith says they have
disbelieved.
If you believe that this can happen by
someone else, you have disbelieved in whatever Muhammad
peace be upon him brought.
Disbelief.
Why?
He told you, this is kufr billah.
Disbelief.
You believe in Allah, what makes me a
believer?
So therefore my brothers and sisters, my time
is limited, but I thought I'd highlight this
to you.
Two things.
Number one is shaitan, his plot, a part
of the plot.
We cannot discuss all of it in a
few minutes.
And number two, the fact that we are
human beings, shaitan will come.
Whenever you have faltered, turn back to Allah.
Be happy for people.
Turn back to Allah.
Your life and my life is very short.
Wallahi I don't know how long I'm going
to live for.
I rather have led a life that is
pleasing to Allah.
May Allah forgive me.
May Allah forgive all of us.
May Allah strengthen us.
May Allah grant us the best of this
world and the next.
May Allah almighty keep us good, united in
a beautiful way.
May Allah protect the ummah.
May Allah grant ease to our brothers and
sisters.
