Alhamdulillah, today, by the grace of mercy of
Allah,
we were able to almost
in the next
half an hour, we'll be completing our second
fast.
And
we
look at fasting the month of Ramadan,
and we look at all the different benefits.
The last one that talks about,
you know, the
it teaches compassion. It teaches us,
you know, empathy.
It teaches us self restraint and control.
One of the biggest qualities that
when he talks about fasting,
he said,
so that
you gain taqwa.
And
in last night's
Quran recitation
that we had,
we came across many verses of Allah where
the Allah talks about
questions that a companion will ask the prophet
Yes.
Yes.
And as sheikh said that the verses
because this is a Madani Surah, there are
a lot of aqams, a lot of rulings.
Where Allah subhanahu wa'am tells us this is
what you do, and this is how you
do it. And even today recitation recitation,
you're gonna see a lot of this as
well. Where Allah subhanahu wa'am, he brings a
lot of verses of rulings.
But at the end of all these verses,
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, he then turns around
and says
that,
He then says,
so just be patient of Allah
That look, this is how you do things,
and this is what the ruling is.
But be sorry. Not not patient, but be
aware of Allah
Be conscious of Allah
That these are the rulings.
This these are the rulings of Hamar and
Masir. These are the rulings of the sacred
months.
But at the end of it, a person
has to has to have taqwa.
And we look at fasting, this is what
Allah has given us this month so that
we can build this quality of taqwa.
Now part of this quality of taqwa is
that a person remembers Allah
And when we remember Allah
immediately,
our relationship with Allah
should be such
that we call onto him. We turn to
him. We make dua,
and we supplicate to Allah
And from the Hadith of the prophet
we see that
he
emphasized
supplicating to Allah and making dua to Allah
to a very high degree.
And one of these
says,
is the essence of worship.
It's like you get a fruit and then
you squeeze
the fruit and then the juice, the essence
drip out. That's the main part.
You get vanilla and you squeeze the vanilla,
and then now you have the essence
that come that comes out, the main part.
And tells us that
that the main part of worshiping Allah
is making dua.
When you're praying salah,
you should be making dua. When you're fasting,
you should be making dua. Any Ibadah that
you do, it must be connected
with dua.
And
the question is why?
What is it so special about dua that
it has to be connected to every single
Ibadah that we do? You know? Even if
we're at home, we do something with our
children,
we should make Dua. We do something for
our spouses,
we should make Dua. When we are obedient
to our parents, we should make Dua.
And
my teacher used to explain this to me
that
dua is
the that Allah
gives to us. It's a reward.
That the reason why you prayed your salah
for 15 minutes now or the reason why
you fasted
for the last
17 hours, 16 hours,
is to make Allah
happy with you. And we're gonna be talking
about this tonight in tonight's program
that
this is what we all strive towards, making
Allah happy with us.
While we fasted, while some while while we
pray our salah, while we stay away from
sin, while we restrain ourself against temptations,
while we control angers, while we bring good
good characteristics
and akhlaq
into ourself,
it is all to
please Allah.
And there's scholars that even take it a
step further and say
that
the reward of the hereafter
is not Jannah.
The reward of hereafter is that Allah is
pleased with you,
and then you go into Jannah.
So it's not that
the the reward is Jannah, but with our
true main goal is to make Allah
please with us.
So this is why we worship Allah
while we fast and while we, you know,
restrain ourself.
And once Allah
is pleased with us,
then
we are to make dua to Allah, supplicate
to Allah. And anything that we ask then,
Allah
will give to us.
It's like
when you were a young child
and your father told you that,
you know, you need to work harder and
you need to bring good grades.
And you looked at your report card and
you saw c's and d's, and you started
to work harder, pay attention in class,
you know, ask for extra assignments.
And that c solely, solely became a b,
and then b became a a. And then
you go to your father and show him
to look, I've just put this much effort
in.
I put this much dedication in. This is
how hard I worked.
I
stayed away from temptation,
and I,
I went and put put an effort.
And now your father's happy with you,
and
you
know that if you ask him for anything,
he's going to give it.
Because you just put in a lot of
effort for him. You obeyed what he told
you to do.
You
gave him preference and priority, his words priority.
And you know that anything that you ask
him, he's gonna give it to you.
You ask dad, can we go out for
dinner today? Can we get pizza? Can we
get Taco Bell?
And you know that dad didn't say, yes.
Of course. Why? Because today you did what
you're supposed to do.
And my teacher would say this is similar
to Allah
that
when we worship Allah
we are obeying him, we are giving priority,
we are putting him first
over temptation,
over ourselves,
over
the society that that we live around
that might tell us otherwise,
but we give Allah
preference.
And now that Allah
is happy with us, he's pleased with us.
My teacher would say that the way that
your father
would give to you and obey and, you
know, listen to you.
The same way Allah
is willing to give to you after you
worship
Allah.
After you spend time in Ibadat, whether that's
in salah, whether that's fasting, and fasting, definitely.
Where we spend the last, you know, 18
hours
in the worship of the law. You might
be sleeping.
And, you know, again, I'm not encouraging sleeping
during the time where you're fasting, but
the reality is that even when you're sleeping,
you are gaining reward because you are in
the state of fasting. But imagine how much
reward a person will get is when they
are fasting and they're awake and they are,
you know, doing Ibadas, reading,
studying,
helping others. You know, there are so many
ways of doing you know, worship Allah
and pleasing Allah.
So imagine that you spent your time like
this
even if you're sleeping
past 17 hours
in the worship of Allah
and now Allah
is pleased with you.
He's happy.
And now you and I have a choice.
Either we,
and this is where we usually fall week,
is the final moment of our fast.
That time is usually spent in the kitchen.
Now, again, I'm I'm not hating. I'm not
saying that, Yuan, you shouldn't.
But the reality
is that there's something better that can be
done.
There's something that's way
you know, it's much worth it.
I'm not saying don't worry about food because
reality is we we all love to eat.
And, of course, sheikhs, we definitely love to
eat. But maybe prepare the food a little
bit before.
Maybe give time to your samosas and bakoras
or, you know, your kebabs a little bit
before,
but the final moments
of,
you know,
are fast.
The final moments of our, you know, of
our
shouldn't be spent in the kitchen
because
this is a waste.
A very valuable time, a very precious time
where Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is willing to
accept our prayers.
Where Allah where where we worked hard to
please Allah and now Allah is pleased with
us.
But then the last moments, instead of asking
Allah, it's like you've worked all week
and it's time to collect your paycheck,
but you don't arrive. You don't show up.
You don't come to collect your paycheck.
You ask the person, what do you think
is if if someone did this? You see,
that person is foolish.
How can he work so much and then
not collect your paycheck?
So this time, the last moments
of our fast
is all about collecting our paycheck with Allah
And this paycheck
is that we ask Allah.
And when the it doesn't have to be
something for the dunya. It doesn't have to
be something for ourselves.
We don't it's not that I'm saying that,
you know, become selfish.
But ask Allah, and you can ask Allah
for anything.
You can ask Allah for anyone.
Any hardship that you've had in your life,
now is the time to ask Allah
So in the final moments
of our past, we raise our hands to
Allah
and we make duas to Allah
we we make duas to Allah asking Allah.
Though, oh, Allah, have mercy upon us. Oh,
Allah
have mercy upon our family. Have mercy upon
our community. Oh, Allah
unite our family and unite our community. Oh,

to say is, Amin. Oh, Allah, say, Amin
to our duas. Oh, Allah, in the Quran,
you say, when my servant asked about me,

about you. Oh, Allah. We are calling on
to you. Oh, Allah. It is your job
