Alhamdulillah.
We start off by praising Allah Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala as always because Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala
is worthy of all of our praise and
our gratitude is Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala
who gives us opportunities
to grow and move forward into our lives.
Is Allah,
who brings change into our life, and Allah,
who helps us
succeed
with where we are and open the doors
for where we're going.
We then send peace and blessing upon the
prophet
the one that was not just sent as
a mercy to mankind, but as a mercy
to the world.
About which Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala in the
Quran
says,
in the messenger of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala,
you have a perfect example
where he teaches us not just how to
worship Allah, but also how to
interact with one another
and deal with
the different situations that we are faced with.
We then send peace and blessing upon the
companions of the prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam
and his family members,
those who helped him and aided him
Ahmedabad thereafter.
We come to a very interesting time of
the year,
the month of May.
And there's no fazal or virtues of the
month of May, but the month of May
marks
change. Because as we know, today is the
last day
of the Frisco ISD calendar.
And over this weekend,
many of our youth, many of our children,
boys and girls
will be graduating
from high school.
Some
have already graduated from college,
and this
is a time of the year where very
important decisions are made.
If a person sleeps
during this time,
then this will have a direct impact and
effect
on the upcoming year.
But a person who uses this time wisely
and makes the right decisions
and plans
and strategizes,
then the upcoming year will be just as
fruitful.
Has many great events. Of course, the month
of Dulkadah is from the sacred months where
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala
tells us that there are 4 sacred months,
and from those 4 sacred months, you have
the month of Muharram, Rajab, Zulqaddah, and Dhul
Hijjah.
But we look at events that took place,
these great events in the life of the
salallahu alaihi wa sallam, because as we mentioned
before, in the life of the prophet salallahu
alaihi wa sallam, there's this perfect example.
And some of these great events, if we
analyze it, we will find lessons
that can be implemented
into the month of May as our youth
are graduating and going on to the next
phase of their life.
And I wanna point out 2, maybe 3
events.
In the 5th year of Hijrah,
the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam and the Muslims
were faced with the Battle of Handakh,
and in the Battle of Handakh,
the odds were stacked against the Muslims.
This was the first time not only were
they facing the Quraysh, but all the allies
of Quraysh, and not only the allies of
Quraysh, but they were also betrayed by their
own allies.
And Rasulullah salallahu alaihi wa sallam, he takes
a few different steps.
The first thing that the prophet Sallallahu Alaihi
Wasallam does is the
lesson that we learn is innovative thinking.
Rasoolallah
looks at this and says, this will be
different.
We need a new strategy.
And the lesson that we learned here is
the way that you have been living your
life until now,
your freshman year,
sophomore, junior, senior year,
if you carry on with that same mentality
into college
or wherever life takes you, you will find
yourself
losing out,
missing
a lot of great opportunities.
And for these, the Prophet Allah always tell
them teaches us that
to think
differently when different opportunities are at your doorstep.
And one of these, the Prophet Sallallahu alaihi
wa sallam tells us, the best amongst you
is a person that's beneficial to others. So
using this innovative thinking of how
I can
benefit myself and the people around me
is the first lesson that we learned from
the treaty of
the Battle of Khundag.
Then in this Battle of Khundag, the prophet
it was also called the Battle of Ahazab
and the Battle of Ahazab for a few
reasons. Number 1, different groups had came and
attacked the Muslims, but also at the same
time, the prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam broke
the companions into small groups
to dig these trenches.
And this
demonstrates
teamwork.
So from the battle, we learned
a very important fact that as you go
on to college, as you go on to
the next phase of your life, if you
think to yourself that you can do this
alone,
then it's gonna be very difficult.
Protecting yourself in this new environment
where you will be taught whatever you want
to be, you can be. You wanna be
a burrito? Be a burrito. You wanna be
a cat? Be a cat.
And if you try to take that on
by yourself,
then you unfortunately,
you are setting yourself up to fail.
But in this battle,
Rasool Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam teaches us that
you have to have a supporting cast around
you.
People that can hold you strong.
And if you look at the prophet sallallahu
alaihi wasallam, one of the best things that
Rasool Allah Sallallahu
wasallam gave to the companions, of course, the
Quran, the sunnah, but one of the best
thing the prophet
gave to the companion was his companionship,
and they held each other strong.
Sometimes they felt weak and they went to
somebody else and they encourage them.
Then from this battle of handak,
we see that the prophet
teaches us that preparation and planning is important.
He receives a news
that an army of 3,000 is coming,
but the prophet salallahu alaihi wa sallam doesn't
say, well, we'll see when they get here.
They're not here yet. Right? When they get
here, we'll do what we have to do.
And if we take the same mentality,
that I don't need to plan for this
upcoming year,
I don't need to set goals,
I don't need to set achievements that I
would like to
reach,
then what we will see that
the year will pass by and nothing will
be done.
So strategizing this upcoming year,
the prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam in one
hadithi tells us, tie your camel first,
and then put your trust in Allah Subhanu
wa ta'ala. A person sits there and makes
du'a that, oh
Allah, make me successful in my
next stage of my life,
but then this person doesn't put
in the
work that they have to.
The preparation, the planning,
the work beforehand, and what they will see
is
the year which has passed by. And in
this battle of conduct, by
taking
the opinion of the different companions and learning
from
he teaches us that sometimes,
the way that you've done things till now,
and the things that have been working for
you,
as you carry on to this next stage
of life,
be willing to learn from others.
Understand that
our community is diverse.
Islam, to a certain degree, is diverse as
well.
If I follow one way of Islam and
I say this is my way of Islam
and that's it,
that's gonna be
problematic. But willing to
being able to learn from others
and flexibility, and we will see this in
the second incident that we're gonna talk about.
This will be important.
And the next lesson that we learn, the
prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, when he commands
a companion
to dig the trenches,
Rasool Allah sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, he himself
takes part in this digging of the trenches.
And
in college,
or
once
August comes around,
some of us will be in leadership roles.
Maybe at an MSA,
maybe at a group,
And Rasool Allah SWALLAW HADAI WASALLAM teaches us
that the best of people
is a person who leads by example. And
Rasool Allah SWALLAW HADAI WASALLAM, he himself
lowers himself and goes into the trenches and
digs the trenches.
In one narration,
he
says, Sayyid Al Khomi
The leader of
a group,
when traveling
or,
you
know, in reality,
always,
is a servant,
and Rasool Allah sallallahu alaihi wa sallam leads
by example.
In this battle of Kandag, an issue came
up.
The prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam broke the companions
into groups. This group goes there. This group
goes there.
And the Ansar and the Muhajir,
they began to
make claims over Salman.
Salman found a solution,
and the Ansar said,
Salman was here before the prophet Sallallahu Alaihi
Wasallam came, so Salman is from the Ansar.
The Muhajir said,
but he migrated from Persia, so he's a
migrant that he's from the Muhajir.
The Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam,
he comes and says, no.
Salman
is from amongst me.
And this teaches a very important lesson.
As you go off to college,
remember
it's important that you are always inclusive,
not just in college, but in every part
of our life.
In our massaging, inclusivity
is so important.
The key pillar of any community, of any
group is how inclusive are you.
The sad reality is
people that have been here for many years
are tight knit,
but a person that just moves into the
community
Who are you brother?
This person feels like a stranger.
So as you go off to the next
state of life, try to being as inclusive
as possible.
And in this battle of handak,
where the Muslims had their backs against their
wall,
3,000 versus 10,000,
Rasool Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam and their companions
taught us a very important lesson
of putting your trust in
Allah Change is always scary.
As humans, we are
creatures of habit. Particular side of the bed.
I park my car in a particular side
of my garage. I take off my shoes
in a particular way. I iron my clothes
in a particular way. And making any type
of change, it's scary. I don't like it.
And as you go off to the next
stage of your life,
understand
that you have to put your trust in
Allah
Do your part. Change will come. But with
change comes opportunity.
With change comes growth.
It's a law that's opening these doors for
you, and it is our job to put
our trust in Allah
And the hadith comes to mind
where the prophet salallahu alaihi wasallam said,
if insan were to have
the
and the trust in Allah and the faith
of Allah that Allah
is deserving of,
then Allah
will provide for you and he will open
doors for you the same way a bird
leaves it leaves its nest in the morning
without a degree, without a career, without a
job, but comes back home at night with
a stomach full. The
prophet tells us, put your trust in a
lot
of harm and honor.
And the last lesson from the battle the
battle of of conduct is overcoming your fears.
There'll be many things that will be new.
As long as you stick to your
and you stick to the principles that your
parents have instilled within you, And if you
stick to the principles that your parents have
instilled within you, then Inshallah, overcoming these fears
will only lead you to success. Now, the
second major event that happened in the month
of was a treaty of. Both of these
events are massive.
Both of these events are massive.
The battle of Kanduk happened in the 5th
year and in the treaty of Hudaybiyyah, it
happened in the following year. And this treaty
was that the Muslims were coming for Umrah
and the Qurais said,
not possible.
We're not gonna let you in. You have
to after traveling from so far,
you have to go back.
You can come back next year, but only
for 3 days,
The prophets of love, how do you he
chooses peace over
conflict.
Alaihi
wa
sallam
chooses
peace. But they were so lost a lot
while they were gonna choose his peace. And
as a Muslim, the reality
is we are ambassador
of peace,
Kindness,
gentleness.
The prophet salallahu alaihi wa sallam says that,
kindness only adds value.
It doesn't depreciate anything.
Anything that you put kindness into, anything that
you put modesty into, anything that you put
good akhlaq patience into,
it will only add value.
The prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam teaches
us. In the Treaty of Hudaybiya, that sometimes
things will not work your way.
You wanted to get into a so and
so college,
but it didn't work out.
But understand, at moments like that, patience is
important.
Why? Because Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala is the
best of planners.
So in college
or in high school, in the next stage
of your life,
sometimes patience
will be the most important
tool that you will have.
The prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam teaches us
in the tree of Hudaybiyyah,
that's important to build good relationships.
And the image the public relationships that you
have,
you will leave
and go to a community,
and some of you will go to remote
communities.
Understand that you now represent Islam.
The image that you put out
from the smallest of things,
from the way that you park your car,
from the way that you open the door,
from the way that you jump a line
to get in front,
you are always
representing
Islam.
Some of the people that you will meet
in college.
At times, you may be the 1st Muslim
that they met, not here in Dallas,
if you go off to other places.
And the image that you partake,
Rasool Allah
and the companions at the treaty Hudaybia, they
portrayed an image and that image is we
are here for peace.
We are here for good.
We will
bend over backwards to make things work out.
We will be
flexible.
We will be flexible.
And this is the lesson that we learned
from the treaty of with ABM.
And the last lesson that I'll touch on
is
to have courage
when
you are at a disadvantage.
Sometimes,
you may be a minority
within your school.
And your voice might be overlooked,
How come
our rights
are being overlooked?
How come what Muslims want? That's not happening.
Why is everything on this charter, everything on
this treaty,
in the favor of them and not in
favor of us.
And the prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam teaches
a very important lesson, and Allah Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala says,
As long as you stick to your deen,
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala will give you victory.
Allah
will open doors.
Allah
will show you success.
In the following year,
comes the
where the Muslims came back to Mecca and
they performed Umrah, and they stayed only for
3 days.
And the lesson that we learned from this
is,
stick to your word.
People in the next stage of your life.
And if they can't trust you, and you
do not keep
the month of Al Qaeda, a sacred month,
that our youth today can implement as they
go on to this next stage of life
during the summer in the month of May
as they graduate. We pray that Allah
makes it easy for them, that Allah makes
this change, a change that comes with a
lot of blessings, a lot of
Oh, Allah we ask that you have
infinite mercy on our brothers and sisters in
Palestine. Oh, Allah
we ask that you give them relief. Oh
Allah,
as we celebrate the graduation of our youth,
we ask that you give them a moment
to celebrate the graduation of their freedom. Oh
Allah,
give them happiness.
Oh Allah, put it into their suffering. Oh,
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala give them relief. Oh,
Allah give them reward for the pain that
they're going through. Oh, Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
those of them that are ill, those of
them that are injured, we ask that you
give them. Oh, Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. We
ask that you keep your doors of rahma
open upon them. Oh, Allah, we ask that
you shade them with your protection. Oh, Allah,
we ask that you give them food. Oh,
Allah, we ask that you give them shelter.
Oh, Allah,
we ask that you forgive any of their
shortcomings. Oh, Allah, we ask that you protect
our children. Oh, Allah, we ask that you
guide them and keep them on the straight
path. Oh, Allah, Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, as they
make this transition into the next part of
their life, oh, Allah, we ask that you
keep iman and faith solid in their hearts.
Oh, Allah, Subhanahu, Subhanahu, do not let anybody
change
their beliefs. Oh, Allah, Subhanahu, do not let
anybody change
the action that we have taught them. Oh,
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala we ask that you
give
us growth. Oh, Allah we ask that you
give us good in the sunniya and good
in the hereafter. Oh, Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
we ask that you accept from us. Oh,
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala, we ask that you
forgive us, that you overlook our shortcomings, that
you pardon our mistakes. Oh, Allah subhanahu wa
ta'ala, we ask for Jannah and actions that
bring us close to
Jannah.
Muhammad. Brothers and sisters.
I'll just take a moment.
Our
parking situation is really bad.
Again, today, we have someone who has parked
in the Costco's no parking zone in front
of the loading dock. I mean, we are
honestly
really, really disappointed
that we continue to violate the Costco parking
lot when they have been the nicest neighbors
and we can use the entire parking lot.
And this is just getting out of control.
We will lose that privilege, and you will
all suffer because one person does not have
the patience
to park the car in the appropriate place.
Please, please do not park your cars in
the no parking zone in front of the
Costco loading dock. If you notice, we have
already lost the privilege to park in the
grass parking lot.
Why? Because
people were sneaking into the parking lot when
it was wet, and we were dragging the
dirt into the city streets. And city has
issued a violation, and now we can't park
in the grass parking lot. I am telling
you, next, it will be Costco that we
will lose the privilege to park there if
we don't stop
you parking in the no parking zone.
And we have absolutely no way to enforce
that. Costco wouldn't let us tow from their
parking lot because of liability issues.
So please, please,
whoever is that one person, show the patience,
show the courtesy to the other musalis so
that we don't lose this privilege.
There's a du'a request, for brother Imad,
who is a security guard here. Ask Allah,
give him a quick, complete, everlasting
going through some health issues. Allah, give him
strength during hard times.
Sheikh
Khan, who is the imam
of in Tampa.
Just a couple days ago, he passed away.
We ask
Allah forgive his sins. Brother Miriam,
who passed away in Hyderabad, India, we ask
Allah forgive his sins as well. We ask
Allah make it easy for their family, that
we ask Allah that the transition from this
dunya to next dunya be a blessed one
that we ask Allah
that he makes their graves from the garden
of paradise.
Yeah. Alaa, Ekbel.
