AI: Summary ©
I believe we were talking about the scene
in the hereafter when Allah subhanahu wa ta
'ala says that the angels who are observant
or watchers over the person, they will bring
that person.
Al-Qiyā
fi jahannama kulla kaffārin anīd We spoke already
about this.
Okay, so the angel will bring this.
It's either the angels who are watching over
the person or a specific angel on the
Day of Judgment is appointed to bring this
person before Allah for the account and if
this person is destined to the hellfire, they
will drag them to the hellfire.
But then Allah says قَالَ قَرِيمُهُ Okay, so
we will read again this part which I
believe is verse 27.
We will read the commentary of Imam Al
-Sa'di and we will comment on it.
the sense, inject some ideas, some thoughts, but
they won't be as compelling.
When someone has allowed shaitan to mess with
their hearts, shaitan can have this power over
them.
Not, and it doesn't mean, it doesn't mean,
by the way, that you lose responsibility.
You have led to this.
You have given your heart to shaitan to
play with it.
So you're responsible for that.
You are responsible for that.
Okay, so be careful, don't allow shaitan, because
shaitan is not going to bring anything but
destruction.
If you think shaitan will ever give you
a good deal, then you have fallen for
his deception.
Shaitan will never give you a good deal.
Will never give you a good deal.
Shaitan has only ruin and destruction to bring
about.
I mean, he can deceive, he can deceive
you, but he will not give you a
good deal.
would promise them, and he would lure them
in.
And shaitan only promises lies, deception, mirage.
There's no reality to what he promises.
He's not going to give it to you.
And that's the nature of this dunya.
That's the nature of this dunya.
This is what Allah calls it, مَتَنَعُ الْغُرُور
Same thing, غرور, delusion.
There's no reality to it.
It will always tempt you, oh the next
thing, get the next thing, get this thing,
and you'll be happy.
You say, okay, once I get this thing.
Once you get this thing, you realize, oh
no no, the next thing.
And you never get enough.
You never get enough.
It will never fulfill you.
This life is not designed to fulfill you.
It cannot fulfill you.
It cannot.
It doesn't have this capacity.
It doesn't have this ability.
It will never.
Nothing fulfills you but the worship of Allah
subhanahu wa ta'ala.
Nothing.
Nothing.
So what about all of these dreams?
These are lies and deceptions of shaitan and
the dunya.
What about all these successful people?
They are just lying to you.
They are just lying to you.
They are more hungry than you are.
They are more dissatisfied than you really are.
And that's why they want to lure you
in.
So that's what shaitan does.
Shaitan on the day of judgment, he will
I had no power over you.
I didn't exercise any authority over you.
I didn't force you to do anything.
I just invited you.
I gave you da'wah.
You believed in me.
You answered my dua.
You followed me.
You followed my clue.
Don't blame me.
Blame yourselves.
I can't
help you out.
You can't help me out.
No one can save the other.
You're done.
You're doomed.
And it's your problem.
And it's your responsibility.
I'm not going to take any share of
your punishment.
I have my share.
You have your share.
So, that's what shaitan does.
So, this is why any temptation, any time,
at any moment, you think that putting anything
first before Allah, or doing anything that displeases
Allah, or you say, I'll just do this
haram, and then I'll fix my ways.
That's how shaitan gets you.
And it's not the only, okay, I'm just
going to do haram this way.
No.
You open a door of fitna, and it's
just harder to come out of it.
It's just harder to come out of it.
Because once you put your foot in, you're
pulled in.
It's not easy.
It becomes even harder.
So, it's easier to not get into it
in the first place.
It just gets harder.
You get more stuck.
So, shaitan screams out on the Day of
Judgment.
I did not lead
him astray.
I did not.
He was astray.
He himself, because shaitan is going to say,
I fear Allah.
You think shaitan is going to be happy
on the Day of Judgment?
He'll be petrified.
When he sees the hellfire, he'll be petrified.
So, he doesn't want to get more punishment.
So, he says, I have nothing to do
with him.
It's his problem.
He got himself into this.
So, now you regret all of the temptations,
all of these delusional thoughts, and, you know,
Oh, this, I will do this.
I will get this.
I will fix my ways later on.
I'll achieve that.
I'll achieve...
These were all lies.
All lies.
Like scams.
Like any kind of scam.
It really pulls you in.
It seems so solid.
And, like, attractively very promising, right?
And you just go into it.
And you say, it's impossible.
This will not work.
It's impossible.
This will not work.
Only to find that you are a victim
of a scam.
And you lost whatever you had.
And there's no way to recover that.
But imagine, the thing is, whatever you lose
in this dunya, Alhamdulillah, you can still...
You can start from scratch.
You can start again.
You haven't really lost anything.
Because it's not you.
You have lost something, okay?
Khalas is gone.
But you have yourself.
The thing on the Day of Judgment is
When you
lose yourself, there's no way back.
When you lose yourself, there's no way back.
I'm gonna fix my ways.
Second chance.
No.
What does that mean?
That means going to the Hellfire for good.
So not even serve a period.
No period.
It's gonna be forever.
Forever.
There's no way.
They're not given death so that they
rest.
And the punishment will not be lessened for
them.
Imagine.
Just the thought of this is very painful.
Just the thought.
This thought is very painful.
Knowing that there will be escalating increasingly more
punishment and pain forever.
Non-stop.
You can't even die.
You're stuck.
So Allah s.w.t. says, Don't argue
with me.
Don't argue in front of me.
Don't start debating, Oh, it's your fault, it's
your fault, it's your fault.
I have given you enough warnings.
I've given you enough guidance.
I've sent my messengers.
I made the truth clear to everyone.
Your responsibility was clear.
It's too late now.
You made your decisions.
And you are now going to be held
accountable.
Whether you blame shaytaan, you don't blame shaytaan,
you blame those who had influence over you,
you don't blame them.
It doesn't make any difference.
It boils down to one thing.
You were given the ability to choose.
You were given responsibility.
You were given accountability.
You were given enough time.
You were given enough warning.
You were given enough knowledge.
But you opted for the poor choices.
You have to deal with the consequences.
Didn't we give you life long enough?
In this life, anyone who would remember, who
would take a reminder, was reminded already.
It's more than enough.
You have more than enough.
And Allah will not be unjust.
This is why Allah says,
I'm not going to change what has
happened.
I'm not going to change my word.
I said, when you come to me, you
will be held accountable.
You will face the consequences.
I'm not going to change this.
You will get what you deserve.
I'm not going to undo this.
Give you a second chance.
There's no second chance.
You were given enough opportunity to make choices.
You were given justice.
And you were even given grace on top
of that justice.
And I do
not wrong any of My servants.
Allah doesn't do,
Allah does not commit injustice.
Not even an atom's weight.
Not even the slightest weight of injustice.
Allah does not commit that.
So that would be just and fair.
So who is to blame?
Only yourself.
You have none but yourself to blame.
Then Allah describes more details.
And this is what these verses are about.
Allah promised to everyone who constantly turned to
Him and came back to Allah at all
times by remembering Him, loving Him, seeking His
help, calling upon Him, fearing Him and putting
His hope in Him and remained dutiful that
is, He adhered to what Allah enjoined upon
Him obeyed Him sincerely and carried out His
duties towards Him perfectly keeping to His limits
and feared the Most Gracious Unseen that is,
He feared Him on the basis of His
knowledge of His Lord in hope of His
mercy and feared Allah Unseen in all situations
even when people cannot see Him this is
true fear of Allah as for fearing Him
in the presence of others when they are
looking at one this is showing off and
seeking reputation and is not indicative of fear
of Allah rather beneficial fear of Allah is
fear of Him when one is alone and
when one is with others fearing Allah Unseen
stems from belief in the Unseen as opposed
to believing when one sees some matters of
the Unseen in which case, faith and fear
of Allah become inevitable and are not voluntary
because the person will see with his own
eyes the punishment and the signs of Allah
let's read the rest of this and then
we will comment ...

If you don't put evil in the hellfire
and the source of the evil in the
hellfire it will be an injustice and Allah
is free from the injustice He is going
to put everything where it belongs Good is
going to end up in Jannah Evil is
going to end up and its sources and
its elements are going to be put in
the hellfire that's justice Anything other than that
is injustice this.
So Allah SWT promised Jahannam to fill it,
to fill it up.
So Allah asks at some point, asks Jahannam,
Jahannam says, is there any more?
Give me more, give me more.
So at this point, and this is an
authentic hadith from the Prophet SAW, that Allah
SWT places his blessed foot on Jahannam.
And then it says, enough, that's it.
It says enough.
And that's when that chapter is sealed.
Hellfire is going to burn forever with those
who deserve it.
Those who have some evil but they have
good in them, this evil has to burn
off in Jahannam because they can't enter Jannah.
Jannah, no evil enters Jannah.
And any person who has any evil in
them cannot enter Jannah because of that evil.
So the evil has to burn off, has
to be purified.
So trials that take place in this world,
diseases are means for expiation.
They remove this evil, that evil, they burn
off this evil.
Good deeds you do, burn off evil.
But eventually if you arrive at that final
point on the Day of Judgment where there
is evil in you and Allah does not
forgive it, then you have to serve a
term in the Hellfire where it gets burned
off.
And then eventually when it gets burned off,
these people will be freed from the Hellfire
and they will be allowed to enter Jannah.
Why?
Because now they are pure.
Because people of Jannah, before they enter, it
will be said to them, you are pure,
you are purely good.
Now enter it.
That's the condition to enter Jannah.
You have to be completely, purely good.
There's no evil.
No evil is allowed to enter.
So then Allah says, And
Jannah will be brought near for the believers
so they can see it and they can
see what's in it.
The beautiful scene.
So their hearts long to it.
They jump out wanting to be in Jannah.
This is the beauty and the bliss of
seeing it before entering it.
Everyone who has preserved, everyone who has observed
the rights of Allah, everyone who has given
Allah his rights and everyone who strove to
give Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala his rights
and has always returned.
Because you can't be perfect.
You can't always give Allah his rights.
So when you slip, you always come back,
you always come back.
People say I'm trying my best, I'm trying
my best but I keep falling.
Keep coming back, keep coming back.
Allah is saying, أَوَّابٍ حَفِيرٌ That's what you
are.
That's what you are.
أَوَّابٍ, always coming back.
When you slip, you pick yourself up, come
back to Allah.
You transgress against Allah, you always come back
to Allah.
You say maybe Allah doesn't want me.
That's shaitan speaking inside of you.
You think it's your own thoughts, right?
You think it's your own ideas.
You might even think you have insight.
I know Allah doesn't want me.
So you know now, you're going to blame
yourself for this on the Day of Judgment
because this is not your thought, this is
shaitan.
These are the injections of shaitan in your
heart.
And how do they feel?
They feel as though they are your own
conclusions.
Why?
Because you're more likely to follow them when
you take ownership, right?
They are my ideas, my feelings, my thoughts,
my intentions.
They're not yours.
So what happens in your inner space is
not all yours.
It's not all yours.
That's why the Prophet s.a.w. said,
Allah does not hold us accountable for what?
These things that run inside of
you, run through your mind.
Unless you hold on to them and start
giving them attention and start working on them,
that's when you start falling and become blameworthy.
So shaitan injects this in you.
So you always come back.
You persevere to worship Allah s.a.w.
You do your best.
Eventually you're going to fall.
Every time you fall, come back to Allah.
Come back to Allah.
Or I've been away for 10 years.
Time to come back.
What are you doing?
Maybe it's too long.
Nothing is too long for Allah.
Nothing is too long so let them be
20 years.
That's shaitan speaking.
That's shaitan speaking.
So don't follow through with this.
Come back to Allah.
Why?
Because you might just follow or run away
with an idea depending or supposedly depending on
the mercy of Allah, the forgiveness of Allah
and this might be your end.
This might be the no return moment in
your life.
As long as you come back to Allah,
you're okay.
As long as you come back to Allah,
you're okay.
But once you start taking advantage of Allah's
kindness, of Allah's forgiveness, that's when you're more
likely not to make it back.
So be careful.
Who truly fears Allah and has taqwa of
Allah?
Because they know Allah.
They know the glory, the might, the power
of Allah.
So they don't want to upset Allah.
Because you don't see Allah with your eyes.
But when you have iman, it's more compelling
as we said than the eye vision.
Why?
Because it's real.
And many people by the way, they don't
give themselves the chance to live that closeness
to Allah.
Your heart can literally arrive at a moment
of realization, not moment, even a state of
realization that could stay with you of feeling
the connection to Allah personally.
But allow yourself, allow yourself.
The more you read the Qur'an, it
starts to rub off on you to the
point that Allah becomes real in your experience
as He is really real.
He becomes compellingly real more than the things
that you see with your own eyes.
But we don't give ourselves a chance.
We read a surah once, twice, three times
or we read it absentmindedly.
When you put your attention with the Qur
'an and you keep reading it and reading
it and reading it, reading it, it keeps
giving you something more, a real experience, real
experience, a personal realization, a personal realization.
That's iman, that's iman bil ghayb, iman bil
ghayb.
You don't see it with your eyes.
You don't hear Allah with your eyes.
But your heart has the capacity to connect
to the world of the unseen through iman.
And it's not imagination.
We're not talking about conjuring up some mental
image.
No, that's called superstition.
That's called imagination.
What we are talking about is the sight
of the heart and the heart does see.
The heart does see.
How do you experience this?
As a knowing, as a realization.
I know this is real.
You just know it.
There's no words that express this.
But give yourself the opportunity to engage with
the Qur'an, to engage with Allah.
Make dua to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
Every day, every night, keep making dua, keep
making dua.
And don't obsess so much over what you
want because often times when you badly want
something from Allah, Allah will allow you to
make dua and He will give you something
better, which is that sense of personal closeness
to Allah that somehow pops up in your
experience and it's better than the world and
everything in it.
So allow yourself this.
This is al iman bil ghayb.
Al iman is a real experience.
It's a real experience.
Many Muslims think iman is imagination.
Iman is not imagination.
It's not.
You don't imagine.
There's no mental images.
There is a knowing in your heart.
I just know it.
I just know it compellingly.
It's a very powerful experience.
It's the truth.
There's nothing more powerful than the truth and
the device that you have to recognize the
truth, to connect to the truth, to perceive
the truth is this heart.
But subhanAllah, we have to admit in this
day and age, the moment you are born,
your heart is targeted.
Your heart is targeted.
There are industries, sophisticated industries that are designed
to destroy and corrupt your heart.
That's why we are illiterate when it comes
to the heart.
We are so illiterate like our muscle, let's
say the heart is a muscle, just an
analogy, is so dormant, is so dormant that
we can't even activate it.
The first pulse of activation, we can't even
get that to be.
But if you persist, Allah will resuscitate your
heart.
But just persist.
Persist and continue and persevere until Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala opens.
But don't give up on Allah.
Don't give up on Allah.
Don't test Allah.
Don't test Allah.
Allah is more real than you are.
Allah is more real than you are.
So you have no place to doubt Him.
You have no place to test Allah.
So, man khashiyar rahmana bil ghayb, wa jaa
biqalbim muneeb.
Again muneeb.
At the beginning of the surah we had
muneeb, right?
We mentioned what is muneeb.
Remember what is inaba, muneeb, inaba, returning to
Allah, coming back to Allah with what?
With Allah.
Okay, yes.
Somebody else?
Allah.
Allah.
Allah.
Allah.
Allah.
Allah.
It's the essence of it is love, always.
Your heart always gravitates to Allah, comes back
to Allah, comes back to Allah with love,
love, love.
Your heart loves no one more than Allah.
No one more than that.
So something like you go through a state
where somehow you slip and that love of
Allah recedes to the background, right?
That's when you slip.
That's when you slip.
But muneeb, you come back, you return to
Allah, love comes back to occupy your heart,
love of Allah.
That's what muneeb is.
And with that love, everything good comes.
Every virtue in you starts to play out.
Every beautiful character trait comes out.
The actions of the heart of love, hope,
fear, longing, generosity, kindness, forgiveness, right?
Light, joy, with Allah, rejection of evil, beautiful
taste for what is good, and a nature
that feels repelled by evil and feel disgusted
by evil naturally.
These are actions of the heart.
With the love of Allah, they come, they
are revived.
They become active in your life.
They shape your character.
They shape your character.
That's your heart.
So they lied to us, they called it
personality.
But that's how the heart works.
That's how humans change.
So those are the people of Jannah.
Those are the people of Jannah.
And this is why many people think, you
know what, Ya Islam, just do the external
actions.
External actions have roots.
If the roots are not there, what you
have is a fake replica.
It's a fake replica.
It's serious.
It is serious.
Many people think, oh ya, like, I can
just do the external actions, that's basic level
and I'm safe with that.
No, if it doesn't have roots in your
heart of ikhlas, of love of Allah, right?
And tawakkul and trust in Allah, and the
longing for Allah, it could, if those are
like, at a very minimal level or a
non-existent level, your action counts zero.
Zero, because it's not for Allah.
It's very serious.
It is very serious.
So iman, iman, the root of iman is
in the heart.
So when you pray, you experience the prayer.
This is what Allah says, allatheena hum fee
salatihim khaashi'oon.
Why does he describe the believers as allatheena
hum fee salatihim khaashi'oon?
Khushu' is the prayer of your heart.
The standing and the bowing and the prostration
is the prayer of your body.
They are supposed to go in sync.
That's what the prayer, this is what is
called salah in Islam.
The external is called a'amalus salah, or
af'alus salah, or hayatus salah.
The physical description of salah, but this is
not salah.
When Allah says, wallatheena hum ala salatihim yuhaafidhoon,
those who observe the prayer, Allah talks about
the prayer, all of it.
The share of your body, the share of
your tongue with the adhkar, and the share
of your heart, which is khushu' which is
intention, comes with that intention, that love of
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
So all of the actions, all of the
actions that we see as external, this is
the tip of the iceberg.
I'm just throwing a number by the way,
it could be 89%, it could be 99%.
I don't know, it's not about the number,
but it's just the tip of the iceberg
is what you see and what you hear.
Majority of the act of worship takes place
in the heart.
These are actions of the heart that your
heart performs them.
So in salah, 90% of your salah
takes place in the heart.
Yes, 90% of your salah takes place
in the heart.
That's why the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam
said, laisa laka min salatika illa maa aqilt.
You're gonna get nothing from your salah, but
what aqilt here is the experience of your
heart.
What your heart experiences in salah, what your
heart engages with in salah.
So if you just prayed and your heart
is not there, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa
sallam mentioned in the same hadith, he said,
yansarifu arrajulu minas salahu wala yuktabu lahu illa
nusfuhaa thuluthuhaa rubuhaa, wa yansarifu arrajulu minas salahu
wala yuktabu lahu shayyi.
And a person has performed the salah, he
leaves and he gets nothing.
Nothing.
Why?
Because the heart did not pray.
The body prayed, the tongue prayed, but the
heart didn't pray.
So Allah is saying, who are the people
of Jannah?
Man khashiyar rahmana bilghayb.
Look at the criteria Allah put.
Man khashiyar, whoever fears Allah, has this sense
of awe towards Allah, is always mindful of
the glory of Allah and he lives in
the spirit of that.
Khashiyar rahmana bilghayb.
He doesn't see Allah, but his heart is
engaged with this reality.
His heart realizes this reality and lives in
it.
It's a real experience.
Wajaa biqalbi muneeb.
And he comes to Allah with a heart
that is full of inab.
And we said inab is always returning to
Allah with love, right?
With worship, with obedience, with that kind of
dedication, that devotion of love.
These are in the heart.
That's why you'll have scholars say many times,
many scholars say, like Ibn Tamiyya said, inna
fi dunya jannah.
Man lam yadkhulha lam yadkhul jannahal akhira.
There is Jannah in this dunya.
Whoever doesn't enter it, that's the experience of
the heart.
Whoever fails to enter this Jannah of the
dunya will not enter Jannah of the akhira.
So it's the heart.
It is the heart.
I understand, we are like this generation.
When I say this generation, I'm talking about
a century, right?
The amount of damage that has been done
to our hearts is unbelievable.
And that continues to be done with everything
around you is unbelievable.
It's ethnic cleansing of your heart.
Complete don't rest in this.
That's your challenge, to take care of your
heart.
Say, okay, but I've been the victim of
ethnic cleansing.
Yeah, fight back.
Fight back.
Do not fall for just the external things.
External things have no meaning without their essence.
They need their essence.
They are important.
They have to perform them.
You can't just say, okay, I'll just worship
Allah in my heart.
Then you're going to join Iblis and the
hellfire.
That's not how Islam works.
They go hand in hand.
So what happens to those?
Allah says,
Enter Jannah.
You are pure.
Salaam means you are free from every evil.
Free.
You're just pure good.
And salaam also means peace.
There's no threat.
Salaam means, by the way, purity.
Means that you are pure of any blemishes.
Could be threats.
Could be evil.
Could be anything.
You are just pure good and safety and
bliss in Jannah.
So enter it.
This is the day of what?
Eternity.
This day is going to continue eternally.
There's no end to this day.
There's no end to your joy here.
So you never feel that it's going to
come to an end.
You never fear that thing, okay, I'll enjoy
this for a while, but then things could
change.
No.
Of course, that's it.
You're going to be in this forever.
Even this you can't think about it.
You can't even fathom what forever means.
Like you're literally going to be in bliss.
Escalating bliss.
In Jannah, escalating bliss.
Increasingly, you know, more bliss.
Right?
As time goes on.
Infinitely.
There will be no day like when this
becomes history.
It's going to be there forever.
It's going to continue.
The hellfire, increasingly more pain and punishment.
That's what we're dealing with.
Everything they desire, they will be given.
Like you wish, and the Prophet ﷺ mentioned
in the Hadith.
Like you just experience a wish.
Like you see a bird and you wish
it is roasted in front of you.
It becomes a reality.
The wish becomes a reality instantly.
If you love steaks, yeah, you're going to
have it immediately.
Right?
You don't have to season it.
You don't have to salt it.
You don't have to prepare the grill.
You don't have to do this.
You don't have to cook things.
You don't have to bring the butter.
You don't have to do nothing.
It's just the moment you wish it, it's
right in front of you.
Why?
Because you have obeyed Allah.
You have fulfilled the purpose.
Your heart was with Allah.
Your heart was for Allah.
Your heart lived in love of Allah, fear
of Allah, devotion and trust in Allah and
you gave up on your own will for
the sake of the will of Allah because
you are a slave of Allah.
So you acted in truth.
That's what Allah gives.
That's what Allah gives.
And humans, their home is Jannah.
That's your home by the way.
This is not like a guest house.
This is your home.
Scholars say Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala made
humans love their home.
It's natural in humans to love their homeland.
Allah made it natural in them.
And Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala created Adam
in Jannah.
He first placed him in Jannah.
Why?
For this to be the home of humans.
The homeland of humans.
You are a native of Jannah.
And you are here in captivity.
You are here in captivity.
Shaitaan has taken you captive here in this
Jannah, in this world.
Those on the Sunday course, sujinta biha wa
anta laha muhibbun fa kayfa tuhibbu ma feehi
sujinta.
You have been put in prison.
In this life, it's your jail.
This life is your prison, is your cell.
How come you love the place of your
captivity?
Why do you fall in love with it?
You're kidnapped.
What do they call it?
Stockholm syndrome, right?
We suffer from Stockholm syndrome.
We're so infatuated by the prison.
And the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said,
dunya sijnul mu'min wa jannatul kafir.
This worldly life is the prison.
It's the prison life of the believer.
But it is Jannah for the disbeliever.
Why Jannah?
Because what's awaiting the disbeliever is just going
to be worse.
And what awaits the believer is always going
to be better.
So Jannah is our homeland.
Ibn al-Qayyim says in some lines of
poetry, fa hayya ala jannati adnin fa innaha
manaziluka al-oola, wa feeha al-mukhayyamu, walaakinnana
sabyu al-aduwi fa hal taraa na oodu
ila awtaanina wa nusallimu.
So he says, hayya ala jannati adnin, to
the gardens of paradise.
That was your home.
That was your first home, Jannah.
It's your homeland.
It's your home.
Fa hayya ala jannati adnin, fa innaha manaziluka
al-oola, wa feeha al-mukhayyamu.
And you are promised to stay there, to
settle there.
Walaakinnana sabyu al-aduwi.
But we have been kidnapped by the enemy.
Fa hal taraa.
Perhaps, or do you think we will ever
make it back?
Fa hal taraa na oodu ila awtaanina.
Will we make it back home?
Na oodu ila awtaanina wa nusallimu and greet
back our family and our people?
That's the reality of our life here.
So imagine people get attached to their place
of captivity.
Their place of captivity.
And if people were not intoxicated with the
dunya, they would see it for what it
is.
A land of misery.
A land of misery.
You know what keeps people seeking the dunya?
The false promise of Shaitaan.
But if you look at your life objectively,
despite all the blessings of Allah, it's a
life of misery.
It's a life of pain.
Laqad khalaqna al-insana feeka bat.
You were never created for this world.
Your heart will never rest here.
It will be in pain.
It's just like fish taken out of water.
Exactly.
It will be just flapping and trying to
just get back to water.
That's exactly what your heart is.
But what keeps us intoxicated, what keeps us
sedated as an anesthesia really that we're not
feeling the pain of our hearts is the
false promise of this dunya and Shaitaan.
We keep saying tomorrow, tomorrow, I'll get this,
I'll get this, I'll get that, I'll buy
this, I'll buy that.
It will get better, it will get better.
Yeah, all lies and lies.
Waladayna mazid.
So they will get whatever they wish, they
get it instantly.
Waladayna mazid.
Allah says, even there are things you don't
know so you don't even wish.
There are greater things that you could never
ever think about or come up even with
a thought about or a notion of.
Allah himself is going to give you those
things that are sweeter than what you know,
that are sweeter than what you wish.
So what you wish is one story, but
the greatest story is what you don't know
so you don't wish for.
It doesn't even occur to you, Allah is
going to give it to you.
And the greatest of those is to be
given the honor of again looking at the
countenance and the face of Allah subhanahu wa
ta'ala.
Because when people of Jannah are given this
privilege, they will forget everything they have in
Jannah.
They will lose everything.
They will lose themselves in what they are
seeing, in the moment.
And they would never be given anything sweeter
to them and better than this.
Okay, let's read this next part.
Because it does give a context.
This
has
to do with the heart.
So maybe next week also we'll bring up
some good points here.
Here Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says, warning
the polytheists who rejected the Messenger salallahu alayhi
wa sallam, how many nations we destroyed.
That is, we destroyed many nations.
Before them Quraysh, who were stronger in power
than them.
That is, they were more powerful than them
and left a greater mark on the land.
Hence, he says, they ventured through my lands.
That is, in various lands they built strong
fortresses and tall buildings, planted trees, dug channels,
formed the land and constructed and destroyed much.
But when they rejected the Messengers of Allah
and denied His signs, Allah afflicted them with
a painful and severe punishment.
But did they find any escape?
They had no escape from the punishment of
Allah when it befell them.
And they had no one to save them.
Their strength, wealth and children did not avail
them anything.
Verily in that is a reminder for anyone
who understands.
That is, who has a mind that is
active, alert and smart and who has pure
intentions.
Such a person, if he sees any of
Allah's signs, will pay heed to them and
will benefit from them and be able to
advance.
The same applies to one who listens attentively
to the revelations of Allah and listens to
them by way of seeking guidance from them
with a presence of mind.
For such a person, there is also a
reminder, exhortation, healing and guidance.
But as for the one who turns away
and does not lend an ear to the
revelations, they will not benefit him at all,
because he is not receptive and the wisdom
of Allah did not dictate that such a
person should be guided.
Okay, so just briefly, Allah subhanahu wa ta
'ala is saying, is drawing their attention to
previous nations, how we destroyed them.
They had great civilizations and great achievements, but
eventually, because they disbelieved, Allah destroyed them.
At the time that Allah chose, many people
think, why doesn't Allah destroy this nation, that
nation?
Allah knows what He is doing and Allah
is not going to act by our haste
or our foolishness, the foolishness of our thinking.
Allah knows.
Allah knows, do your work and let Allah
subhanahu wa ta'ala do what He knows
how to do it, right?
So Allah will destroy.
And this, then He says, there is clear
reminder in this for a person who has
a heart, meaning the heart is alive, it's
not dead.
When the heart is alive, it perceives, it
sees, it learns, it reflects and it takes
lessons.
But when it's dead, it doesn't.
It doesn't.
So it's blind.
Allah is a shaheed, always paid attention and
listened in order to try to revive his
heart with what he hears.
Ibn al-Qayyim at the beginning of his
book Al-Fawahid, he actually spends maybe four
or five pages just talking about specifically what
does it mean, he who has a heart
or he who pays attention.
Just to explain what this means, very profound,
beautiful explanation.
InshaAllah maybe next week we can just give
a summary of it and then I think
next week inshaAllah we'll complete the surah and
then we'll move on to surah Al-Hujurat.
We can take one or two quick questions
before Adhan Al-Isha'il.
Question related to, would Muslims stay in hellfire
forever?
A Muslim stay in the hellfire forever?
No.
Only the disbelievers.
Because Allah eventually says whoever has an atom's
weight of Iman from the people who enter
the hellfire, Allah will bring them out and
enter them into Jannah.
Many people do good deeds out of fear
of punishment.
That's part of Iman.
But if someone, that's their only strategy, it's
very hard to sustain this.
Very very hard to sustain this.
Almost impossible.
The heart is created to love Allah.
So like, it really makes it hard how
someone could believe so much in the hellfire
but fail to see Allah with their hearts.
So you can see the hellfire and you're
obsessed with it but you can't see the
glory of Allah who is far greater than
the hellfire.
There's something off there, right?
So fear is part of, is definitely, fear
of the punishment is one of the tools.
But if it's the only tool or the
main tool, you know, there is most likely,
a person cannot sustain this and most likely
there is something wrong.
What does the person need to do?
Just, you know, turn to Allah.
Always people say, how can I do this?
How can I?
Turn to Allah.
Dua.
Let Dua be your first.
Your heart is in the hands of Allah.
Ask Allah, O Allah, open my heart.
O Allah, turn my heart towards you.
O Allah, let my heart open up to
your love.
Keep doing this and Allah will not let
you down.
That's it.
But don't rely on yourself.
You can't make it to Jannah by yourself.
You can't fix your heart by yourself.
You need to ask Allah and you need
to rely on Allah.
That's the strategy.
