We praise Allah
We send our peace and blessings upon our
noble prophet Muhammad alayhi salatu wa sallam.
And I remind myself and yourselves on this
blessed day of
to fear Allah
As Allah
said in the noble Quran,
Allah And
let a person or let one look at
what they have prepared for tomorrow,
meaning death.
And fear Allah once again, for indeed Allah
knows
your actions and knows
what you are doing. Whether it be upon
your limbs
or
it being an action
inside the heart.
And today, insha'Allah, my dear beloved brothers and
sisters, we're going to be speaking about
actions
in the heart.
But a particular action,
something
that is so important
to achieve in our hearts.
Because without it,
we stand no chance to go to Jannah.
In a society today, it is very difficult
to achieve this
because we became so superficial
and concerned with
our outside appearances,
and concerned with what others think about us,
and concerned with our
level or our status
in the society or societies that we live
in.
Today, brothers and sisters,
one of the hardest things
to achieve
for many of us, or it is harder
in our time to achieve
than the times that passed.
Is humbleness
and clearing the heart
from every remnants
of arrogance
that may lie within it.
Arrogance
is that action of the heart
that will not be allowed
to enter paradise.
Arrogance brothers and sisters in Islam
is that action that corrupts anything
that it enters.
Arrogance
is that
Adam's weight
of an action
that is felt
within the heart that a person that is
so subtle
that it can be there
and it can
corrupt the heart and the actions of a
person without them knowing.
A person can do and do and do
for the sake of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
But because they have arrogance in another respect
in their life,
Not particularly
in their ibadah,
not particularly in their sadaqah, not particularly
in their fasting.
But it can be in other things in
their life and in other aspects.
But this one atom's weight of kibr is
enough
to deny
a person's entrance into paradise.
Brothers and sisters,
there are actions
of the limbs and there are actions
of the heart.
And there's no doubt that one of
the greatest
actions of the heart
is to purify it from any forms of
insincerity.
The top of it being arrogance.
Because it will lead to our ultimate destruction.
Let us hear
what the Prophet told
us about
the people of arrogance.
The Prophet
was sitting in a gathering of sahaba and
he told them, Should I not tell you
of the people of Jannah?
Should I not tell you of the people
of Jannah?
They said
of course.
He said
Every person
who is
weak, not weak in their body,
but
weak
in their status.
Weak in the perceptions of others
to them because they do not care what
others think. They do not care the status
that others put them in. They do not
care what others
think or feel that they are because
they only care about what Allah subhanahu wa
ta'ala
knows of them and of their actions. They
don't care about anything else.
So they are perceived as The prophet said,
is somebody
that
is able and capable of being strong,
of forcing their opinion,
of being
of forcing themselves in any circle, capable
of changing the perceptions of others
about them. But they accept
and are humble enough to accept their status.
Not being disrespected or scrutinized
or belittled.
Right? Because that is that is not what
we mean in this hadith.
But
is someone
that
is capable but remains humble.
Means
humble. And then he said,
Should I not tell you about the people
of the Nar?
He said
Then he said,
and I want everyone
to remember these words.
Atul is a tyrant.
Jawal
is somebody
that is
rough and stubborn.
Is someone that is arrogant.
These are the people of
said, this does not mean that these are
all of the people of or
all of the people
of But
this is what the majority
or
of the people of Ahl al Jannah and
the majority of the people of Ahl al
Nar are.
In another hadith,
the Prophet
he told us about
a particular type of people that Allah
hates. Does Allah hate?
Yes.
There's a partake there's a type of people.
You know, Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is alwadood,
they're all loving.
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is arrahmanarrahim,
the Compassionate and the Merciful. But even with
all of these attributes and these names, Allah
hates a certain type of people. Who are
these people?
The Prophet
he said,
Indeed Allah hates.
Every.
Is somebody
basically who eats like an ox.
And somebody
when it comes to their food, somebody who's
big and they care about
their physical strength and their presence. They're loud.
Stubborn.
When they have an opinion, they don't change
it for no one. They hear the evidences.
They hear the proofs. They're not willing to
change because that means they'd have to break
themselves in front of the people. Me, accept
advice. Me, take take advice from this person.
Me, be corrected by that person.
No
way. Jawad,
mustaqdr,
arrogant.
Deep down inside, they might not even say
it.
And they might even say it.
But they feel
that they are better than the rest. They're
stronger than the rest. They're smarter than the
rest.
They're more entitled than the rest.
They have that feeling in their heart.
Loud
in the marketplace in particular.
When they come into a particular place, they're
loud. They wanna be heard. Hey, I'm in
the house.
Everybody see me.
You know,
they purposely change their voice so that it
becomes loud, and that they're heard, and that
they are listened to by everyone because
they have to
be the center of attention.
At night, they're like a dead body. Asleep,
they don't wake up. They don't pray.
No no qiyam, no fajr.
As if they're dead,
snoring
their brains out until they just
wake up. But when they wake up, what
are they like? Are they still lazy? No.
In the daytime they work like donkeys.
They work like donkeys.
It's work, work, work, work, work.
Working hard is not a bad thing.
Working hard is a good thing. But why?
The
Prophet explains in the rest of the hadith,
They work hard for what? For the dunya.
They're knowledgeable in the matters of the dunya.
Completely ignorant in the matters of the akhirah.
When a person
reads about stocks,
reads about
investments,
finances,
about their the the field that they're in.
They know every little detail. Spend hours and
hours reading about it. But they don't know
that
doing this breaks the wudu,
or this nullifies the fast, or this is
how you give zakah on a yearly basis.
Or hajj is mandatory and obligatory
on every Muslim that is capable
to
to to, you know, to provide and to
go and spend on themselves for the journey
of hajj.
Right? And they're capable of taking some time
off. They don't know about that. Why? Because
they don't care. They'll spend 8 hours reading
about some IT or some engineering, some medicine
or
some new pharmaceutical
discovery or whatever it is. Spend hours and
hours and hours just reading. But they would
not give a fraction of that to learn
the basics of their deen.
Like
The person that fulfills these characteristics
is someone that Allah hates.
The Prophet
he loved
those that were humble.
He loved
those that weren't seen.
He loved the ones
that weren't known in the society.
In one of the hadith,
it mentions that the prophet alaihis salatu wasalam
was sitting in a in a circle of
companions.
And you could imagine which companions would sit
with him. It's those companions that are his
friends
Those companions that left the marketplaces, they You
know, they had established businesses, they had stuff,
and they purposely, you know, they're living on
their residual income because they wanna spend as
much time as they can with Rasulullah
because they know their time with him is
limited.
These sahaba
who were close to the prophet those students
of knowledge that that he brought close, they're
sitting around him.
In Masjid Nabi, in his Masjid
And as he's sitting talking to them, a
man walks in the Masjid to pray.
And he tells them sallallahu alaihi wa sallam,
Do you know who this guy is?
They say,
No You Rasool Allah. Who is this man?
Who is this man? He said, Idna hujulaybib.
He said, That that man is Julaybib.
Do you know Jalaybib?
He said, No You Rasoolullah.
What do we know about Jalaybib?
Jalaybib
is one of the simplest people
you can ever read about.
Julaybib
was a man
short,
not too attractive in his appearance,
not from a noble tribe, he's not known
to any of the sahaba.
He's somebody that's so discreet, so humble, because
he doesn't even have a house. His house
had no ceiling. When he slept, the stars
were his blanket.
He never thought of marriage because he never
thought anyone,
or he was certain that no one will
accept him. And he had no money because
they wouldn't even hire him
to to go and get wood, let alone
anything else. Jullaybib was a simple man.
Jullaybib was a simple man. And these sahaba
who
we knew were upon khair, and we knew
were humble, they didn't even know him.
This is Julaybib.
This is Julaybib.
He walked in, and then the Prophet
he says,
Why don't you get married You know,
because sometimes we
I go up to the guys, just so
you know where I get it from. I'm
always telling the guys, Hey, when are you
getting married? Right?
So I got it from the prophet
And the prophet would say,
Yeah. You're a young man. I know you're
thinking about it.
And he looks at him,
You Rasool Allah.
You know, you could imagine he's very shy.
He's not gonna say, Hey, I'm broke. In
front of all the sahaba, you know. He
would tell it to the prophet
But, yeah. I mean, he he felt shy.
He's like,
Like, You Rasulullah,
I have no status, and I have no
money, Rasulullah. How am I gonna get married?
How am I gonna get married?
And then he went like, InshaAllah here. He
went, he prayed and whatnot. The Prophet
finished.
Couple days later, he saw Jullaybib again. He
told them the same thing, You Jullaybib Why
don't you get married, You Jullaybib? He's like,
How can I get married? And I have
no status and no money, You Rasulullah.
And then the 3rd day,
the 3rd time around, the Prophet sees him
again.
It's like, You Rasulullah.
Look.
Even, you know at a certain point,
even the messenger of Allah, and he got
a little pushy, and Jalaybib got frustrated.
Didn't I tell you, You Rasoolullah,
how can I get married? I have no
status. I'm not from a strong tribe or
anything. And I have no money, I'm broke.
He said, Come here, You Rasool Allah, baby.
I got someone for you. He said,
Go to Fulanah, been to Fulan.
This Fulanah,
this woman in Madinah,
the daughter of Fulan, a man in Madinah,
go and ask for a hand. Anjulaybeebi, he
starts you know looking at himself
and his garment and says,
You know, noble sahaba.
They are wealthy.
Rav Muhajiroon,
right? From the nobles of the tribes, they
asked for this woman's hand. They all reject
they all got rejected. So everyone knew this
is the hardest woman in Madinah to get
married to.
Right?
Noble woman, beautiful woman, known for her ibadah,
known for her taqwa, she's a student of
knowledge, Tabarakallah.
He's like, How she? You Rasoolallah.
She'll accept me? He's like, Just go.
Do you have something to give her? He's
like, You Rasool, I don't have anything.
He said, I have this metal ring that
I always wear. I found it somewhere. He's
like, Okay. That's a good Mahar. Go and
tell her this is the Mahar. And tell
them Rasulullah salallahu alaihi wa sallam sent me.
So he went knocked on on the door,
and he
told the father of this
girl who answered the door. He opened the
door, he said,
who are you? He said, Jalaybib. He said,
oh, Jalaybib. Yeah. I must have seen you
around some somewhere. Like, you know, you can
imagine. If the if the noblest sahaba didn't
know him, who how's this man gonna know?
So he said, Yeah. Jalaybib, what's up? Yeah.
Do you have some firewood to sell me?
You know, do you wanna help me with
some labor carrying goods? Oh, like what exactly
do you want? He's like, No, no. I
came to marry your daughter.
So the father, he was shocked. He said,
To marry my daughter. What are you talking
about?
He said, Yes. Rasulullah
sent me and he said that, I can
marry your daughter.
And he's like, I gotta talk to
You know, I can't
Let me talk to the mother, and this
and that. And then they started He's like,
Just wait here by the door. He went,
talked to the father. And you could imagine
what the mother said,
Let me look at him. Oh. Oh.
No.
No way.
This man? No way. What does he have?
Nothing.
Is he poor? No. Does he have a
status? A tribe? No.
Who heard the discussion?
The The girl who was raised in the
madrasah, in the school of Muhammad sallallahu
alaihi wa sallam. The one who accepted the
sunnah and the teachings of Rasulullah
The one who would not hesitate
send. They said, Taba, go look at him
first at least. She's like, I don't need
to look at him. If Rasulullah sent him,
that means he's the best thing for me.
SubhanAllah.
They went,
and they accepted
the the metal ring as a muhr.
And they went on to get married.
God knows some brother, some Sahaba were happy
for him. They started to give him bread,
they started to give him wheat, they started
to give him water and things to feed
people for the walima. Obviously, he's not gonna
slaughter 20 sheep and feed the people of
Madinah. No. He didn't have anything.
He fed the people, you know, bread and
and water for his walima.
And on the night of his wedding,
Jalaybib
imagine. It is just imagine what emotions can
be going through
Jalaybib's
mind
on the night of his wedding.
It's all happy, the happiest day of his
life, and also his wife's happiest day for
obeying Rasulullah
Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam.
He hears
He said, Madinah is under attack.
And obviously,
it's an optional thing, and he would be
given the permission and the concession to stay
home because of his situation. The Prophet would
allow people in this
status to stay. But Jullaybib heard this, and
he told his wife, he's like, I know
it's our wedding night,
but please allow me to go,
and listen, and fulfill
the call
of defending Al Madina.
And he left her, and he went, and
he fought, and he fought. And then
he was martyred, radiAllahu
ta'ala Anhu Arba.
Jairib was the person after this battle.
The Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam
was asking,
Okay, who are our martyrs? They counted. He
said,
He's like, Where's Jalaybib?
Where's my my love Julaybib? Like his love,
you know. And you could imagine the sahaba,
they're always trying to fight for the love
of Rasulullah
Who is this julaybib?
He went, and he saw julaybib there.
And then he carried him, and he wiped
the dust off his face
He carried him and he hugged him. He's
like,
He's like, He's like, Wallahi, you're my love
You're from
me, and I'm from you. You're from me,
and I'm from you. You're from me, and
I'm from you. You're from me, and I'm
from you.
These are the people Muhammad
felt closest to.
These are the people Rasulullah
salallahu alaihi wa sallam would make du'a day
and night
to die and be resurrected with.
He
would say,
O Allah, make me live with the poor
and the needy.
And make me die with the poor and
the needy.
And
resurrect me
in a group
of poor and needy believers.
Imagine?
The first people to enter paradise are the
poor and the needy believers.
In another hadith, the prophet said, 500 years
before
the rich and wealthy believers.
500 years from our years.
From our years.
500 years later,
the rich,
and the famous,
and the powerful believers will enter. But in
the beginning,
it would be who?
The poor and the needy,
who enter along with him
And we make that dua'at that the Prophet
made,
Brothers and sisters,
in these times that we live in, wallahi,
we're in such a dire need
of being humble,
humbling ourselves,
and making sure
we check our hearts over and over again
to see
if any interaction that we had, if any
feeling that we have towards others
or with others
had any
arrogance in it.
Because if there was, we need to hasten
to cleanse it before it comes back.
And Allah
makes our actions weigh nothing.
The prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said, and
I'll end with this hadith.
He said,
He
said, perhaps a person is dusty,
wearing raggedy clothes.
But if he swears by Allah,
and if he asks Allah,
Allah will answer his du'a.
Allah will answer his du'a.
Brothers and sisters,
we don't know.
But the main thing we could learn
from this
is to stay humble,
and not to be judgmental,
and not to judge others
based on their status,
or based on the way they look, or
based on the way they dress, or based
on who they associate with, or based on
their nationality, or based on the language they
speak, or the culture they adhere to. No,
no, no, no, no. This is completely
unprophetic.
The Prophet
wouldn't even go to weddings if there weren't
poor people in it.
The Prophet would look at a wedding if
only the nobles were invited to it, and
none of the poor and the needy. He
was like, Oh,
where is the barakah in this?
Where is the barakah in this?
Imagine?
So we need to include
everyone,
and be close
to these people,
and these types,
because they can be
our ticket to jannah, and they keep our
hearts in check, and they are the litmus
test
of
humbleness
and lack of arrogance for us. We ask
Allah
to cleanse our hearts from arrogance.
We ask
Allah to make us from amongst the humble.
We ask Allah
to make us live with those who are
poor, and the needy, and close to them.
And to make us die
with the poor and the needy while we
are close to them and in assistance to
them. And we ask Allah
to resurrect us and enter us into jannah
with Rasulullah
and the poor and the needy that will
enter with him.
The
Just a quick announcement inshallah for tonight.

find their
their, their name.
So
we'll make an anonymous dua'ah. That Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala has mercy on them. And Allah
subhanahu wa ta'ala
accepts them from the saliheen. And Allah subhanahu

the messengers,
