Inshallah,
we'll, resume tafsir Surat Duha.
And today, I'm just a little excited here.
So I'm gonna be standing,
sitting and standing back and forth. So I
hope that doesn't throw you off. I just
wanna make sure everyone is awake because if
you're not awake and paying attention, or if
I ask you a question and you don't
answer,
I'll have to walk up to you
and give you,
give you a massage,
A gentle massage.
Okay.
Yeah. This is gonna be challenging, but this
will
Okay. So we said
We said that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala begins
this surah. The surah was revealed
after there was a pause. Some scholars say
as,
you know, as little as 3 days,
and others say it was 40 days and
then there are some opinions that suggest that
it was actually 6 months.
There was a pause in the revelation,
and Umu Jamil or some of the,
in
Mecca came and taunted the prophet and
they said, oh, it looks like your shaitan
has has abandoned you.
And some said, your lord has forsaken you.
You're done. You're fired. You're
you you failed.
So the prophet
was saddened by that. So Allah
revealed to him Surat Abuha
to reassure the prophet
comfort
him
and it's one of the greatest surahs of
the Quran because it talks about the prophet
it
addresses him
and also his followers and those who love
him
And it also shows the status of the
prophet
So Allah
begins the Surah with and
we talked last
on on a couple of days ago as
to why Allah swears
or the oath the oath is by Abuja
which we we said how many opinions we
have
as to what the means?
How many? 2 or 3?
Okay.
2.
2 opinions. Okay. So daylight or the whole
no. The daylight time, meaning from sun rise
all the way until sunset or
the 4 4 noon time. So be you
know, after sunrise, after the sun rises high
above the horizon, way above the horizon, and
then until
until
before Zawal. Right? Before the whole time. Okay.
And we talked about the,
the balaga, the analysis, how how it's actually,
you know, signifies
that the prophet
in his message is going to be that
source of light that is going to shine
and repel or destroy
darkness. And then
the second oath in the Surah is
and by the night,
when the night and
we said
means how many meanings?
Three different meanings. Right? Okay.
The strongest of which is that when it
falls still or when it settles or when
it covers.
Okay.
Then we said the when
Allah makes an oath, there is always a
statement of fact that follows that, that statement
of fact
is intended, is what the subject matter is.
So Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala refutes,
responds
to the claim of the that Allah has
forsaken the prophet
or that Allah
that he
this message or mission was was taken away
from him or that he was departed from
There's no departure,
there's no farewell, there's no end here, this
is just a beginning. So Allah subhanahu wa
ta'ala says
we said very powerful way to negate it.
It's not
it's
never
will your lord leave you.
Right? He has never done that. He will
never do that.
We
said from which means
to I mean, abandon is not really a
very
powerful or, like, accurate translation.
Is is farewell or when 2 parties
part ways
on good terms.
So this is not the end of your
mission.
And it's it's neither,
you know, a sign of you being detested
or being rejected or being, you know, there's
no hateful departure as well. We so we
said the difference is what that happens between
loved ones or parties or people who have
good relationships, who are who separate on good
terms.
Happens
when there is animosity, hatred, and
rejection,
as you turn you turn away from the
person.
Neither this or that happened here.
So so don't listen to those who said
that he he has
abandoned you. Don't listen to those who are
saying he has forsaken
you.
It's not that's not what is happening here.
Then Allah
gives the prophet
one of the greatest
news or, you know,
glad tidings. Not
No.
Anytime you have this added lab it's either
or
This is one of these letters
that gives a sense of what emphasis.
Now when Allah says something is better for
you,
you that's it. That's enough of assurance.
But when Allah himself
adds more to it,
when Allah says, indeed, it will be, like
Allah doesn't need, let alone making an oath.
Because the oath the oath basically
is still related to all of this.
So Allah is saying
Right?
Allah says,
we said there are different interpretations by the
scholars to as to what
means. The hereafter,
the next life.
What
comes next, the next step.
Means the end of of a thing or
of a mission.
So in all of these meanings apply in
the case of the Prophet because
what was to come next
is more revelations and surahs
and more
basically success for the Prophet
What came at the end of his mission
was Fatima,
all kinds of victories.
Hijra, Fatima, these are are all great accomplishments
in the life. What came after he departed
this life for his ummah,
you
know, the expansion of his message and his
message reaching as far as, you know,
it did and it will continue to to
to reach further and further.
Right?
Us, ourselves,
we are part of that
that Allah has promised the prophet
that will happen.
And mind you, this is happening early in
the revelation. Allah is telling the prophet what
is yet to come. Again, whether it is
tomorrow,
in the near future, or
on the long term in your lifetime, or
after your death in this dunya, after your
departure,
or in the hereafter when this is all
said and done and the the whole world
comes to an end, what is awaiting for
you is always better, and it just keeps
getting better and better and better. And we,
as I said, we are included in that
inshallah
as followers of the prophet sallallahu alaihi wa
sallam. Can you imagine Yani, Abdullah bin Masood
who could not go to the Kaaba, next
to the Kaaba, sit around the Kaaba and
recite surah of the Quran or teach anyone
at this point
during this period.
Can you imagine them thinking, the Sahaba thinking,
oh, not only will this religious spread, it
will reach these very remote lands and islands
and big huge continents,
and people will be able to erect beautiful
masajid
and sit together and discuss the book of
Allah in different languages
and be, you know, touched by the power
of the Quran and be inspired and continue
to pray and fast and and do their
acts of worship and invite people to Islam.
Can you imagine this? Can you imagine the
Sahabi just trying to visualize this?
Because sometimes what happens to us is we're
like, oh my god, things used to be
amazing. Of course, obviously there was fagul to
the time of the Prophet sallallahu alaihi sallam
and what the Sahaba and the Prophet sallallahu
alaihi sallam had.
But we're thinking, oh, I wish I had
lived in that time. Things were amazing. They
were very simple. They were easy. Islam was
very strong. No. At this point, it wasn't
that strong.
And being a Muslim now is so hard.
And look at us as a as an
Ummah. We're really in a miserable state. What
are you talking
about? What are you talking about?
Why? Why that kind of very negative and
very, again, I'm not minimizing the the the
pain that comes with all the things that
are happening around us because we could do
better.
But still there is chayef.
That is chayef. We may be now better
than we used to be 10 years ago
or 20 years ago or 30 years ago.
Where did he have a place like this?
Where did he have these numbers? Where did
he have this kind of influence or impact?
So always remind yourself what is yet to
come
insha'Allah
is better. And that should be the spirit
and the mindset and the attitude of the
believer.
That of optimism.
That what is yet to come inshallah
is better for us.
And likewise also,
is always better than dunya.
And we said that ever since
Allah told the prophet
that is better for him than duniya, the
prophet
I mean to begin with, he didn't have
a lot of attachments to duniya anyways, but
he used to say,
You know, why should I really care too
much about? And I, you know,
I'm only
but
a
traveler.
Right?
I'm like a traveler who comes by and
found a beautiful tree, sat under the shade
of that tree, enjoyed his time or his
break or his rest under that tree. And
when it was time for him to continue
his journey, get some and leaves.
That's it. So the prophet equates dunya to
that shade.
Why? Because
and something a gift Allah
gave the Prophet
beside the promise is Allah showed
the Prophet
what is awaiting for him in Akhirah.
And also they said also some of the
scholars mentioned something beautiful We didn't we didn't
mention this last week,
or on
Tuesday.
They said,
Akhira also,
whether it's the end of his mission,
the end of his life before he dies
when
he looked at the Sahaba and he was
so happy and so so amazed by
it. They said Akhira is when the Prophet
finally gets to meet every one of his
Ummah
including us.
All of his Ummah. And Akhirah is when
he gets to make Shafa'a for them. Akhirah
when he gets to see really
the his mission and his sacrifices comes come
to fruition.
So so
so in a way
in a way,
we are we are part of that legacy
of the prophet
So no matter what, whether we live this
life the way we like and things work
out for us and we are in charge
and masha'Allah
or we don't,
We know the end result is always for
us.
We know that that you know subhanallah
they said
the the Ummah of the Prophet SAWH
on
the day of judgment those who suffered hardships
in this life
they went through all kinds of trauma and
pain, the worst
types of of trauma.
When they receive karama from Allah, when Allah
welcomes them and when Allah compensates them when
they finally receive
this, The ones who who who were believers
but did not have to deal with any
of these issues,
those who were very well in this life
had very comfortable life.
Most of us have very comfortable life compared
to other people.
When they see what Allah
is going to give those Ahlul Balah, the
ones who suffered calamities and hardships and pain,
they wish they wish they can go back
to dunya
and have their bodies or their flesh chopped
with scissors.
Again, does this mean that we should be
praying? Someone asked me. Does this mean we
should be praying for pain and for suffering?
No. Pain and suffering should not in Islam.
Unlike other theologies or in Christianity,
some,
you know, you may have some some deviant
* that say, oh, yeah, you should be.
No. No. In Islam, you're not supposed to
bring upon yourself or seek or pursue
suffering
and pain. Shouldn't do that. That's not Islamic.
That's not Islamic. There is that
comes hardship or suffering that comes with a
bad debt. That is intended.
That is intended to make you stronger, to
make you to toughen you up, that is
intended to make you more grateful, like when
you fast,
but also it always has something good in
it, by the way.
It always has something good in it.
Right? So always remind yourself, if you're going
through some hardship, whether you're fasting, you're doing
anything that you're doing and you find it
to be hard, tell your self, your self
talk should
be.
It's okay.
That that's not enough.
The following ayah comes and tells the prophet
And this is this is what I was
just
this is what I was really,
processing today. Okay?
These 2 ayat. I was like Allah
has already told him
And and by the way, when we say
though again the prophet is being addressed here,
some of the scholars said, why didn't Allah
said, why didn't Allah say
O believers or reciters of the Quran and
followers of Muhammad?
Cause they said this is this is
though it is for the prophet sallallahu alaihi
wa sallam
and he is the one intended, we are
atbaa. We are the followers. So this includes
us as well.
And we know that
the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam greatest
joy
and right? And
is to see his included in all of
this.
So when you see if you are a
Muhammadi, if you are a follower of Muhammad
sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, a lover of Muhammad,
a supporter of Muhammad, this includes you automatically.
Because you know what messenger of Allah salallahu
alayhi wa sallam,
whatever khair Allah has given him, we know
from his from his
that he always shared it. Anytime someone gives
him a gift, anyone he,
you know, gets, you know, anything that he
got, he
used to spread it amongst his companions and
share it with his. So the prophet did
not hold any from us.
He always shared that. So that is going
to come to you through him, sallallahu alaihi
wa sallam. I just Allah wanted to honor
him and make it. So it's not exclusive.
It it goes it it goes beyond the
prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam.
And then I said last, you know, Tuesday,
we we talked about how when Allah said,
that indeed
That
So we said that Allah says and
now here here's something else.
Allah
you know, some people say this is
Zamach Sharia says no. It's for some
grammatical reasons, it cannot be.
So what is it? What is that? It's
not what
It's
It's it's a it's a statement.
It's still
it's still is additional.
Allah
could have
said
or
but Allah
says
And they said that there is if it's
then there is a that
is
omitted, that is not mentioned.
It is you whom Allah
will give in the future.
They said because this is long term. When
this was revealed,
when this was revealed, what
what what this verse was referring to
is that Allah will give you, not necessarily
in the near future, but
on the long run,
Allah will give you
until you are satisfied.
Whether it's towards the end of your life,
whether it's the in the in the second
part of your mission or the later part
of your mission or in the hereafter,
Allah will continue to give
Also, it implies that it's going to be
a continuous thing
that Allah will give you in this life
and Allah will give you
where? In the hereafter.
So imagine
now he's being told
the next
after or what's to come is better for
you. But guess what? It's not only better
for you. No. You will be given
by your lord
until you're satisfied,
to your satisfaction.
And then Allah doesn't say, you what?
Allah will give you whatever you
desire, whatever you want. Everything.
Now and this is why this ayah is
again
not only a reassurance and
beautiful and great news for the prophet but
for his ummah because we know
from the life and the seerah and the
sacrifices of the prophet
and from his pattern
that his greatest joy was what? What was
his
what was his joy?
After salah, Ali. What brought him joy, Ali,
amongst Ali?
All
his ummah. Right? Winning the hearts and the
minds of people for people to accept guidance
and to come into Islam.
And and and do you think and the
prophet
told the sahaba about certain things that are
gonna happen. My is going to be the
largest
on the day of judgment,
and that's not gonna fail.
My will never be completely,
annihilated. My will not. Allah promise
him that. So you know that we will
not, you know, all of us perish. There
will never be a time where there will
be no Muslim. When that time comes, by
the way, that means the day of judgment
is about to start. It's over.
It's over for humanity.
His his
what will please him because
means he will be pleased
is to see his ummah with him in
Jannah.
And they said this ayah
is
basically this confirms the prophet
will have the right
of Shafa'ah. And none of his who says
even if they were sinners
will last in hellfire for ever. Eventually, every
one of his Ummah
will end up in Jannah
because
they said
there's a narration, a weak narration that the
prophet when this ayah was revealed.
He said, oh Allah, I will not be
pleased unless all of my Ummah enters Jannah.
And obviously I said also the other day
we said that no way after the revelation
of these two verses and this promise from
Allah
no way his companions and his community
could have failed
collectively.
For anyone, for anyone to come and tell
you that, yeah, the Sahaba were all pretenders.
Sahaba, as soon as the the prophet
died,
they fought over leadership and wealth and territory,
and they killed one another,
and Muslims have been corrupt ever since.
You tell that person shut your mouth.
Yeah, I do Allah. To me, that's an
enemy of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala. Anyone that
actually insult because that person is not only
insulting
the companions or the community of the prophet,
they're insulting the Prophet
as a failure, they're insulting Allah
because
how could Allah
promise the Prophet
that he will be satisfied
and that he will be pleased?
And that is and then and then and
not only that but in another part of
the Quran Allah says
Allah has been pleased with the messenger
and and Saab and Mu Hajireen who followed
him and did and then after that all
of that was revoked. The Sahaba was simply
as soon
as the prophet died. They're like, yeah, forget
it. We're gonna give up all of that.
For what?
For what? Yeah. Just just doesn't make sense.
Allah
will satisfy
and
and Allah said, yeah, Muhammad
We will we will satisfy you and please
you with regards to your ummah.
So I am telling you Ajamal,
yes,
there are times where, you know,
you know, someone might say, well,
the prophet
said
the best of, yeah, the best in terms
of in terms
of in terms of,
you know,
purity, in terms of being close,
to the prophet
to the message. Yeah. There's there's a fadl,
like a status,
but that doesn't mean there is no khair
in the ummah.
There's no more khair yet to come.
It does not negate that there will be
more khair to come
in the future.
But there is still
when it comes to
So the khair will remain in this,
and there is still more khair to come
for this.
Then,
now after reassuring the prophet sallallahu
alaihi wa sallam and comforting him and reminding
him I mean,
you know, giving him a promise
that he will be satisfied,
right, after comforting him. Now comes the 2nd
section of the Surah. In the 2nd section
of the Surah, Allah reminds the prophet
of some of his bounties upon him
before any of this happened.
Not in a way to make him feel
bad or to make him relive the trauma.
You see, when when a reminder, a gentle
reminder like this comes, it is to
to what?
Yeah. Yeah. Okay.
Can someone okay.
Now, Allah initially
reassured
and comforted the prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam
On top of that, gave him glad tidings
Then Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala reminds him of
some of his
what he went through
before the message came to him,
some of his bounties upon him. And Allah
mentions 3 in particular. There's a reason why
these 3 are mentioned.
So Allah begins by saying
Again, translation is literal so and if we're
given it, it says,
did he not
find you? Obviously, find you meaning? Were you
not?
Were you not? It's not like
he was missing and Allah found him.
Were you not Yetiman? Were you not an
orphan?
Fa'awah
and Allah
sheltered,
provided you with shelter
or or embraced
you The answer is they said when this
was revealed, the Prophet said, yes, indeed. Now,
so he was Yateem.
Then Allah reminds him
And he found you
unguided. Sometimes the people translate as lost
and people's again, translation is that as if
we can. Translation cannot give you the proper
meaning.
Doesn't mean that the prophet was deviant.
No. It means the prophet was oblivious
Was oblivious. He was not he was oblivious
to his own reality. He didn't know he
was a prophet.
He didn't know who he was.
He didn't know what the message when when
Jibreel first came to him
with didn't know what what that was.
And Allah
says to him,
you you never read the scripture before?
So there are many verses in which Allah
subhanahu wa ta'ala talks about how the prophet
was oblivious to his own he didn't know.
Before this was revealed to you, you didn't
know what the scripture was.
You had no prior knowledge of it. It's
not like something it was something that you
were waiting for. And we know the prophet
when he went to the cave of hira
he was looking for what?
He was looking for meaning, for guidance,
but he worshipped Allah
based on whatever he believed was
the way of Ibrahim.
But there was no one to teach him
that. Yani, think about this. When the prophet
went to the cave of Hera,
he made Ibad, right? He made the hadna
He used to reflect and make dua and
pray. How did he pray?
Ibrahim, that was the mindset.
That was the mindset. But the actual rituals,
what were they?
They said yeah.
Yes. But they said it's it's whatever the
prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam saw around
from what was related to Ibrahim because not
everything of Ibrahim's
tradition or rituals were preserved or were kept
in its in their pure form. They were
corrupted. So what the prophet did,
he picked on these things, these practices.
Right? No one came and taught him how
to do. And then the prophet,
took out any of the,
inappropriate,
acts of Jahiliya or shirk from it. And
And then the
prophet made did his own. Yeah. It was
purely his own. Allah
obviously inspired but it was purely his own.
Jibril didn't come and show him. It was
later on. Later on, Jibril came and showed
him, said this is how you pray, this
is how you make udul, this is when
you and Jibril would lead, you know, would
show the prophet and the prophet would follow
Jibreel.
So so this is part of it.
He was unaware.
So were you not unaware would be better
than unguided.
You didn't have that.
And Allah guided
Then Allah
says
Allah
found you
means
which means
poverty.
No resources. You don't have wealth, you don't
have money, you don't have resources.
Another meaning of is someone who is what?
In Arabic, they say
someone who is who has big responsibility
and has a family that he has to
take care of. Right? Especially if they have
a big family or a big concern,
people that they are supposed to provide care
for and they don't have resources.
So this is
So they said Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala said
you are someone
who didn't have had very limited or no
resources
and you had
people that you were taking care of,
his own family. By the way, the prophet
sallallahu alaihi wasallam took that kind of responsibility
early on. When his uncle took him into
custody,
into his own custody, he realized his uncle
needed help so the prophet sallallahu alaihi wa
sallam jumped in to help. And that was
hadi The
prophet
sallallahu
alaihi
wa sallam had
this very authentic
innate
quality
of
wanting to help and care for others. He
was highly
he had great level of empathy and sympathy
for others.
He felt with others. The hadi yeah. This
was part of his personality And that is
why later Khadijah personality salallahu alaihi wa sallam.
And that is why later Khadija said, no,
Allah will not let you down. You are
indeed someone who genuinely cares.
You are someone who cares. The prophet salam
alaihi wasallam cared about all people. And and
and we know stories even after he received.
Before he received, he did not discriminate.
And even after he received
the message, the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam cared
for other people. Non Muslims used to come
to him and ask for him to intervene
and bring them justice.
You know? Bring you know, intervene and and
bring them justice. Non Muslims will come to
him and ask for help. Non Muslim even
his enemies, by the way, they fight him
during the day. At night, they will bring
he was the only one that they trusted
with what? With their valuables.
Muhammad, we know you're an honest man. You're
not gonna wrong us.
Yeah. I mean, why did he leave Ali
to give back people the Amanat?
Yeah. Unconditional.
He didn't say unless you believe in me,
I'm not going to.
So he was someone that cared
So Allah said
Allah enriched to you or Allah gave you
all kinds of riches. Now
we need to go back to these
and
analyze them further.
First of all,
what is the definition of a team?
Okay. Someone who is parents or father
is is is dead. In the case of
the prophet
his father died before he was born. So
he was born into Yutum.
The Prophet was born into orphanhood
or
orphanage? What is it? Orphan Orphan. Yeah. He
was born into it.
Orphancy. Orphancy. Orphancy. Sorry?
Is it?
See, it's a baby.
Samir is looking it up. Samir, is it
orphanhood or orphancy?
Orphan.
Orphan. Okay.
Okay. Orpany or okay.
So he was born into it
He was an orphan before his father before
he was born Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam. So that's
iyateem.
And scholars said
there there is a lot of hikma
in the prophet
experiencing
uttum,
orphan see. Is it?
Both.
Yeah. Orphan see. Right? Okay. There's a lot
of hikmah in the prophet
experiencing
it. One hikmah is that only Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala that no one can take credit
for the prophet. You know,
a father who basically spends time caring for
a child
and raising that child and teaching, you know,
even if they're teaching them very little,
they can take
credit for that.
Oh, I taught him. I inspired him. The
father was not even there to be a
source of inspiration for him.
You know, sometimes some fathers may not even
do much. Their mere presence
and Sheikh Hasid Fazigah always talks about, you
know, the importance of having a father figure
and fathers and, you know, male role model
and
the male figure in the family.
The the mere presence of a male figure
in the in for for an individual, for
an adult, for for a child is a
source of inspiration.
Allah didn't want that to be for anyone.
Also, number 2,
there was there was
a possibility or there was a potential
when when there is a father or a
male figure that they could actually what?
Corrupt,
sway, or negatively
impact that child.
Now someone might say, well, that doesn't matter
because Allah protects prophets. Look look at prophet
Ibrahim
Yeah
Nonetheless,
there's a trauma that comes with your your
father
opposing you and abusing you
and saying
There's also trauma that comes with not having,
you know, not having a father.
Which one is greater?
Only Allah
knows
but obviously
Right? It would have been much more painful
for the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam to have
dealt with a father
that would not what accept him
or that would abuse him
Sorry? And no influence there whatsoever
of anyone So Allah
took full
responsibility
to raise him and care for him
So
number 3.
Orphans have a special status with Allah.
Because of what?
First of all, because they're they're tested, and
if they're righteous,
they're tested with a very, very hard, you
know, big test.
But
orphans Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala raised their status
by
the fact that the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam
belonged to that group of people.
So the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam's own Orphancy
or Orphanthood
You know, Orphanhood
Gave in Islam
and later on gave orphans this very special
status
So any orphan that comes after that will
never feel what
Or should never feel, should remember that Sayyidul
Khal, Rasoolullah SAWH Wasallam was an orphan
And there is something good in it for
you, so don't let it let it break
you. Don't let it destroy you. Don't compare
yourself to other people. Compare. Take pride in
being
like Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam
and find comfort in that
Number 4,
The Prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam's own experience
of orphan see,
made him
not only a role model for orphans,
a good great role model and inspiration for
orphans, but it also made the prophet sallallahu
alaihi wasallam much more. I mean he would
he would have been
very empathetic and very, you know, understanding
of what it means to be an orphan.
But him, salallahu alaihi wasallam, experiencing it gave
the prophet salallahu alaihi wasallam even more
ability to really
feel for for the orphans. And that's why
you find
constantly the prophet reminding
people what
of the rights of the orphans.
I don't think there is any,
and
again, I didn't read the scriptures. I didn't
read the Old Testament and then maybe parts
of it. But I doubt that you would
find any religious tradition
that will mention
While Islam is
yeah. While Islam is is
is is yeah. We're not talking about we're
not talking about international
treaties and international
organizations
and being this is something
deeply rooted into our traditions from the Metcen
period,
from even before that. Khadija said
Khadija praised the prophet for
for that kind of of
of for being someone who was a pioneer
in that field.
And later on Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala tells
him to take care of the orphans.
So so orphans
have
great and very
special status in Islam.
Then Allah says
and the scholar said, wait a minute.
Just like what we said here,
there's no They
said wait.
Here, Allah
keeps saying
No no what?
Pronoun.
Allah is not saying Muhammad
is open ended.
They said
but the doctor father is Semarai.
He said
It's a transitive
verb,
meaning
it it it requires what? There is a
there's an object and there there is a
subject and there is an object. The subject
is who?
Allah. What is the object
or who is the object?
Supposedly the prophet sallallahu
alaihi wasallam. Right?
Means to shelter, to embrace, to provide refuge,
to grant refuge,
right? To to to welcome someone and to
provide them with protection and care.
He said so that the meaning will encompass
or will be will encompass multiple things. He
embraced you or welcomed
you.
And through you, Allah
provides
shelter and embraces
orphans and the needy and those who are
looking for guidance
and the believers
And for your sake
for your sake, oh, Muhammad Allah is going
to welcome and embrace
and shelter the believers.
So they said by leaving it like this
without,
you know, putting,
making it specific
and opening it, like, leaving it leaving it,
unrestricted.
It encompasses
a wide range of
objects
Us included
And especially
of Ummah of the prophet
They will all be embraced by Allah Subhanahu
wa ta'ala and welcomed by Allah
And those who
here's here's something
Here's
an opportunity for us, An opportunity for us
by
following the Prophet and loving the Prophet we
have an opportunity to be
to be welcomed by Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala.
And that is why the prophet sallallahu alaihi
wa sallam taught us to say every night
when you go home
and
you're enjoying the comfort of your house
and the safety of the place that you're
Alhamdulillah.
You should say you should you should think
about it. Say alhamdulillah.
We have a shelter. Alhamdulillah
The one who fed us.
And provide us with drinks.
And provided us with
shelter. He sheltered us. We have a comfortable,
safe shelter.
Right?
Also suffices.
There are so many out there that are
so desperate
I don't know if you've ever been,
you know, when when Katrina hits, did it
did it impact Memphis?
Yes. It did? Right. Memphis. Memphis. Just okay.
Right. But
some of you, I heard that some groups
or, teams from Memphis
shelters?
Have you been to the homeless shelter anywhere?
Homeless shelter or any shelter.
Okay. So when when these disasters happen and
then you see people having no shelter all
over the place, well, why is so difficult?
It's it's just devastating.
It's heartbreaking.
So to have forget that when you go
to Hajj,
you spend one night in in Mazalifa. It's
beautiful and everything. But the next day you
go to Mina, you're like, Alhamdulillah, we have
a tent.
You see when people first go to Mina,
they're like, oh my god. Wait a minute.
I'm coming from a 5 star hotel to
this place, and now I have to share
it with 30, 40 people?
And they're like,
And then we have to use, like, to
we have share we have to share bathrooms,
bathroom facility, and you have to wait in
line when you just had your own.
Right, 5 star
personal
beautiful
suite
with
yeah, any state of the art, masha'Allah,
comfortable
bathroom. Right?
And had oh, so you know what yeah.
You know what it's like. Yeah.
So you're like, you know, you experience that
first,
and then
you have your own bathroom. Not only that.
As soon as you leave, you have people
coming and cleaning it
for you. And then you go to Mina.
It's a tent. You're sharing it with a
bunch of people,
and then there is
the showers. Oh, you have to share with
other people. And things are not always wet,
dry and clean. You have to
and then you go to Buzalifa. You go
to Arfa, then you go to Buzalifa. You're
like, oh, then you come back to Mina,
you're like,
we have Mina Yeah, but if you at
any point were a refugee or you you
knew what it's like to not have shelter,
you know this is a great blessing from
Allah
So every time we we can never take
this for granted.
Every time you go and I you know,
and this is something that we also have
to tell our children.
I remember when I first got to bed.
I was old enough. I was, like, excited.
I had to be like a teenager to
finally have my own bed. Right?
I didn't have my own room. So did
you growing up?
Come on.
None of us. For our children, when you
say that to our children, they're like, what?
You didn't have your own bed?
Yeah. Not only did you have a bed,
you had a you had a you had
a what is it called? I forgot.
A crib.
You know, before even the crib, you have
a bassinet, and then you have a crib,
and then after the crib and then you
have some devices that help you sleep while
swinging,
play a stroller or a flat, and and
something to sleep in in the car.
No.
No.
Yeah. Yeah. And our babies have mattresses that
vibrate to help them fall asleep.
Okay? And then you have your own mattress
and then bunk beds and then, you know.
We used to sleep on top. We used
to to to to use you used to
use your sibling as a pillow,
Right? You sit in a square like like
the number sign.
You know?
You
use 4 people, they use each other.
So now we have shelter as comfortable shelter.
The least we can do is Alhamdulillah and
I tell you allahi I envy
devout Christians when they go home or when
they're eating dinner or when they and they
do their grace they say grace, and they're
like, they thank the Lord for the blessings
that they have, and they pass on that
tradition to their children.
Why can't we do that? I'm not saying
we should do the same thing.
Why can't we just pass that on? Be
thankful for what you have.
Don't complain about variety.
I will
we complain about variety.
Oh my god.
I don't know.
We have too many cereals here. I don't
know which one to eat today. I don't
know I don't know what I can what
I feel like. What's that?
We No. The the I'm talking about we,
Annie, we're all included in it.
That is why I just learned a beautiful
lesson from my brother,
from my older brother the other day. He
said,
do not give yourself, your children, your family,
or your customers more than three options.
Yeah. Now we give 4 at least, multiple
choice, Annie. Which one?
He said, don't give more than 3. 3
is luxury. 3 is too much. 3 should
be for your customers.
You know, family, if you wanna be generous,
2 options. A or b. Choose yellow.
Some of us yeah. If you
eat or do not eat?
The food is in front of you. You
eat it, you don't eat it.
Like, fa'awah, Allah
says fa'awah,
Allah embraces you, Allah sheltered you,
and the answer is what?
Indeed.
And Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala in the case
of the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, he had
his mother, he had his grandfather, he had
his uncle, there were Allah facilitated someone to
take care of him, but the true care
provider was who?
Allah
And then
when he was at an age where people
would get married, no one was interested in
him, Allah preserved for him the most distinguished
and the greatest of all women of his
time. As a matter of fact, some some
scholars say she is the greatest of all
time, Khadija
And she is the one that basically
welcomed him and embraced him
and loved him and cared for him like
no woman would ever was ever able to
care for anyone. By the way,
you know, Mariam
been to Imran,
Asia been to Ozahim,
and Khadija.
The only one, obviously by the way, the
best of all
of the women is Khadija. Why?
Have. You said
Mohammed. The
wife of Mohammed.
She lived with Mohammed. She embraced Mohammed. She
touched Mohammed. She
no.
No.
And she she carried the Prophet sallallahu alaihi
wa sallam's children,
those who had his blood and his blessed
blood and gene
No, no other woman in history
and and she never questioned him
She never argued with him
She never, you know, she always supported him
unconditionally loved him
So she
is no doubt. No doubt. So Allah
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala chose what is best
for him. Khadija is part of that legacy.
Then Allah says
you are oblivious
to your own reality, then Allah guided you.
But it doesn't say guided you
No. Allah guided you, guided through you, guided
people for you, for your sake,
for Muhammad's sake. There are some people whom
Allah guided for what?
As an to honor Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam,
like his uncle Hamza.
There are some people because of their love
for the prophet
Allah guided them to Islam.
So
Allah guided you, made you a source of
guidance,
guided through you,
and guided for you.
For the love of the prophet
And and by the way, here,
who's included in this?
Us, the Sahaba, the family of the prophet,
and Khadija as well.
Yeah or
no? Who is the first person to to
receive guidance?
Not only did she receive guidance, the prophet
didn't even have to come and tell her
Khadija,
I'm inviting you to Islam.
He said Khadija, I experienced this, and I
think something may be wrong with me. She
said, no.
No.
Yeah. I I don't remember.
The yeah. The Khadijah
she didn't she did did Khadijah say
She may have said that, but I'm saying
she did the process didn't have to even
convince her.
Or she didn't say, well, let me think
about it. Let me process it. I'm not
ready for it.
He didn't know.
She she she was she was already ready
for it. She was convinced.
She was touched by the by Muhammad. You
see, he was oblivious to his own reality.
She knew there was something special about him.
Yeah. I mean, she could see she could
see the special,
the special,
vibe,
if you will, if if I can use
that. The special nur, the special effect, the
special energy the prophet had,
obviously, he is the source of it so
he may not realize it. He may not
say, well, look at me, Masha'Allah. I'm
I'm full of taqwa in iman and all
of that. No. He was oblivious.
She saw it. She was already touched by
it. She was ready for Islam. She was
ready for the Quran. She was ready for
guidance. So when he came to her, she
said, no. That's not it.
It's not what what you may be afraid
of.
You're this and that and Allah will not
let you down. So she knew Allah.
Why do you think she received that from
Allah? That karama? Because she was someone that
provided shelter and embraced the prophet
Right.
And you were
not
you didn't you are needy, you didn't have
a lot of resources, and you have a
lot to take care of.
Allah
has enriched you. How?
Allah
enriched you. And
through you and for your sake, Allah
will enrich people.
And for you Allah
provided people with resources. Now someone might wonder,
Khadija
But she was married before him twice. That
was Allah
way to prepare her. And she was very
wealthy, extremely wealthy. Some some historians say Khadija
was wealthier,
the wealthiest person in Mecca.
Where did that wealth come from? Allah blessed
it, obviously. It's from the previous merrier that
she have.
And they said because of Khadija, Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala also honored who?
Previous previously married peep because societies and people
human societies and cultures throughout history look down
upon,
you know,
divorced. In the case of Khadija, she wasn't
divorced. She was what?
She was
she was a widow. Right?
People look look down upon widows. So Allah
again, in this Surah,
Allah honors orphans and Allah honors who?
Implicitly
widows as well. Widows of good standing, Yali.
Righteous righteous widows. So Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
enriches the prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam through
Khadija.
That's one of the sources
of his wealth
And someone might say, oh, so he was
the she was the source of his
wealth. Perhaps you can look at it the
other way. Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala for the
sake of Muhammad Allah enriched who?
Khadija made her wealthy.
Because it was down her
Right?
And Khadija has a very interesting story. And
by the way, Khadija is the one that
set the precedent for even Abu Bakr.
Abu Bakr is best friend as well. Same
thing.
They said 3 times Abu Bakr radiAllahu anhu
came brought his wealth and gave it to
the Prophet SAW,
gave him everything
And the other sahaba as well, Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala enriched them.
Some of the sahaba jama'ah
by today's
standards, would have been trillionaires.
We don't have trillionaires.
We only have billionaires. We
don't have a person that has has a
trillion.
If you do simple math, some of the
companions of prophet
especially Abdulham Al Auf was would have been
a trillionaire
today by today's measure because the amount of
wealth that he had.
And they said he used to make a
dua and say, oh Allah, you know,
you know, you know what is best for
me is to have plenty
so so give me an abundance.
Allah bless
them. So Allah
enriched them and whenever the prophet made du'a
for someone that Allah blesses his wealth, that
person will become wealthy.
Allah enriched to you,
through you, by you.
A couple of stories. Khadija
they said
that there was a time when the prophet
sallallahu alaihi wasallam had a lot of responsibilities.
First of all, once he became a prophet
and then started calling Meccans to Islam,
and they boycotted him and obviously he couldn't
do trade and,
you know,
abandon his dawah or go to Yemen and
go
to Sham
to earn for his family
He started what?
And he asked companions that are needy,
poor,
and he started to share with them. The
prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam started to run out
of what? Funds and money to spend. It
got to the point where he had nothing,
sallallahu alaihi wasallam.
And he was,
he was overwhelmed or concerned.
There are a lot of people that come
to him
and he has nothing to offer them. And
Khadija saw him one day. She said she
asked him what is what is wrong. He
said
just, you know, I'm thinking of my responsibilities
and
and,
you know, not being able to,
you know.
Yeah. He he he told her about his
his finance
that his financial concerns.
So what she did is she invited 2
of his companions
later that day
including Abu Bakr. Abu Bakr says that I
was sitting across from the Prophet
and she
she she brought her servants
and her workers
and they kept bringing these bags full of
money.
Liquid
coins
and gold and silver and they started pouring
it in front of the Prophet
Until Abu Bakr says until there was a
pile
big enough to hide the Prophet
Yeah. Imagine this there's huge like heap,
right? Huge pile. He said I couldn't I
had to basically
couldn't see the Prophet
anymore. It's
you know. And then the process of gonna
ask Hadiyah, said, what is this? She said,
you be the witnesses. I forgot who the
other Sahabi was. Was it was it Uthman?
Uthman. Right? Abu Bakr and Uthman. Yeah. She
said, be be the witnesses of this transaction.
This money,
its ownership has transferred. This is Muhammad's.
He can do whatever he wants from him.
No one is gonna ask him. He's not
he has no obligation.
Don't be distressed.
Don't be upset. Don't be focus on your
dua, focus on your mission
and
Right?
You know, don't stress out. No need for
you to stress out. Here.
You're
good. The
prophet sallam's
face lit up and obviously made dua. So
no wonder Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala
promises
promised her and anyone who is like her
who's going to,
show generosity
and support this deen and the and support
the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam's cause Allah Subhanahu
wa ta'ala promises that he will give them
back
Subhanahu wa ta'ala.
So may Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala
make you and I of those who listen
and follow the best of what they listen
to.
So by the way,
ever after the revelation of this verse the
Prophet SAW,
some people think of the Prophet as someone
who is poor.
No. The
prophet
was never poor,
broke,
or needy after this. He always
he was always rich.
Except that the prophet
lived
Yeah.
His standard of living was of that of
the average person,
like the.
He used to want to be like the
average person.
He did wear when whenever someone gave him
fancy
cloaks
or garments and outfits, the Prophet did put
them on, but this wasn't his usual,
sallallahu alaihi wasallam. So so he wore expensive
things, he wore things that are not necessarily
very expensive or brand name, things that are
humble, sallallahu alaihi wasallam. But he was always
mutawasal.
You know, he was average
but he had. But whatever he had, what
did he do
He gave. So his true hina, his true
richness,
wealth was in his heart.
And it came from this.
His true Hina came from this.
That kind of assurance because you could have
all the wealth in the world.
If you are not satisfied,
if you don't have if you're not pleased,
if you're not satisfied,
you will live like a poor person.
And that's why I always say there are
wealthy people
who are not rich.
And there are unwealthy people, people who are
not that wealthy, who are what?
Extremely extremely rich.
So much so that sometimes you think someone
wants to look at this person. Masha'Allah. They're
doing all of these things. And you think
you have they have what?
They have the unlimited amount of funds. But
they have
they have unlimited amount of love and generosity
and care for others.
And people were touched by that example. A
bedouin went to to to basically tell other
people all
people accept Islam. Muhammad
gives like someone who has no fear of
poverty whatsoever,
someone who has unlimited
access to wealth.
So the prophet never doubted that. Even when
he didn't have time, when he didn't have
money, when he didn't have something with him,
he used to tell people come to me
after 2 months or 6 months, I'll have
something for you.
He never turned anyone down. Sometimes he would
even borrow money from other people
knowing that Allah would give him the ability
to pay them back for the sake of
other people.
So so I ask Allah to make us
of those who are inspired by that example
of Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam. May Allah
May Allah enrich our hearts and our souls
and our minds and may Allah
bless us with wealth,
and may Allah
bless that wealth of ours.
So
Allahu
Akbar.
Just a quick comment
oh, they followed too?
Oh Masha'a, I didn't know about that. Okay.
Yeah. I was busy, you know. And the
Allah
has mysterious
ways
of doing things. But I just want to
say one thing, and I hope that, you
know, it doesn't rub anyone the wrong way.
You do not win
dignity,
You do not achieve glory.
You do not
gain
freedom
through negotiations
and
begging those who have, to begin with, robbed
you from what Allah has given to you.
It is taken.
Freedom is not granted or given, it's taken.
Something that you have to sacrifice for and
struggle for.
And the Palestinian people have been putting up
a great fight for decades.
It comes through that.
Just a great lesson. Those who are waiting
for others to bestow upon them,
to endow them with their God given rights,
they will never get it.
But those who sees it, those who see
themselves
as,
They see themselves as free people, born free.
They live free, and they die free.
These are the people that are eventually granted
that kind
of glory, and that kind of victory, and
that kind of
accomplishment.
So may Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala make this
insha'Allah sign that things will will be heading
in the right direction insha'Allah.
The ultimate
goal for the Muslims
in general is to not only be independent
and be
is for us to be to be united
inshaAllah ta'ala. So may Allah Azza wa Jal
make this a step towards the unity of
the Muslim, Ummah, Amini Aruba Alemi, Assalamu Alaikum
Warhatullah.
