it is narrated that the great companion
over even a cup
was once praying
and the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam called him.
So way rhodiola han continued his Salah.
So the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam,
and then until he finished and then he responded to the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam.
Again, obey was praying a voluntary prayer. So the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam told him obey Why didn't you respond to me? When I called you?
He said, they are so low, I was praying.
So the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam told him Allah Subhana Allah to Allah in the Quran says
yeah, you hola Dena. Manasa je de la la salida de como Lima you Don't you know that Allah said that? While mo and Allahu la Vina lb
one who later shadow. So he quoted this verse for him. Verse 24, of surah, eight surah and amfa.
Very interesting. And then of course, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam so famous Hadith, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam told him what he called him for, right?
Apparently, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam received the commandment from Allah subhanho wa Taala, to recite, to obey a specific surah from the prayer. So Allah ordered commanded the Prophet sallallahu sallam, to seven,
obey and recite to him a particular sort of circle.
and obey, sir to the Prophet was a Manny bismi a loss of habitat and named me. I mentioned my name, he said, Yes, and obey the law. I know, may Allah be pleased with him? He cried.
Right? So this is the ending of that story. But the beginning of that story is very interesting, as interesting as the ending of it. But the beginning of that story is very interesting. So the prophets receives a commandment from a loss of Hannah data,
to tell obey something, and the Prophet sallallahu Sallam calls him immediately.
Well, they happen to be preoccupied with a prayer,
a voluntary prayer. And he was in a dilemma. I didn't know whether he should respond to the prophet or finish his prayer because he had already started it.
So he assumed that he had to finish the prayer and then respond to the Prophet sallallahu sallam. So he didn't respond immediately as it was the
the habit, or the practice and the commitment of the companions of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam.
So the Prophet told him that you should have, you know, you should have responded right away. Right? So there's an urgent matter here.
But then the Prophet quoted a verse from the Quran,
which very often,
many of us forget, or we miss.
And that verse
is this verse, verse 24, from Surah, an emphatic surah eight where Allah subhanho wa Taala Sal says to the believers, yeah, Lena Ave, all you who have believed, study would
respond to Allah.
Law and His Messenger respond to God when he calls you to respond to His Messenger when he when they call you, either to accompany him or your vehicle, when he calls you to that which gives you life
to that which would revive you. Anytime you receive an invitation, anytime you receive a call anytime you receive an alert anytime anytime you receive any notice from Allah or his messenger sallallahu alayhi wa sallam.
And any message that comes through the Messenger of Allah Allah Allah incentive is from Allah subhanaw taala you should respond
and you should respond immediately.
This is the
then Allah Subhana Allah Allah says, well, Mo and Allahu alayhi wa and later Sharon and know that Allah intervenes between a man and his heart.
Ultimately, the hearts are in the hands of Allah, He controls them. Well, I know who lie to Sharon. And remember that you will be you will return or you will be gathered
before you Lord,
respond responding to Allah and His messenger
is a daily commitment of the believer. Every day you and I are called. And there are different calls that we receive. For instance, the prophet peace be upon him told us some of some of these calls we may be aware of we may hear actually, like we just heard the call for the prayer. doula. Some of these calls have to echo in our psyche, only or will will echo in our psyche only if we are in a state of awareness. And if we hold ourselves accountable, and many of these goals we just miss.
So for instance, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam tells us that every day you and I receive an invitation to repent to the Lord, to repent to Allah. Right. Every day in the La Habra, Soto Ada will be laelia to Varanasi now.
Allah subhanaw taala extends his hand and welcomes and invites
every sinner to repent,
the center of the day to repent at night and the center of the night to repent.
During the daytime, every day that comes is an opportunity. There is a call that comes with it. There is an invitation an open invitation to us to respond to Allah and His messenger.
So we have daily invitations and we have weekly invitations like this one. Allah subhana wa Allah in the Quran says, Yeah, you holidaying in Amman oh you believe
either new de la sala when the call for the prayer minio mill Juma of the day of Juma is made fests I will enter the karela, rush, run, leave everything,
right, go to the remembrance of Allah, whether all by an abandoned
trading and commerce or any form of business, sleeve, all of that. And for that, period, just go commit yourself and remember the Lord.
And then we have
yearly annual invitations.
Many of us are very excited and anxious to
participate in one of them. Many of us cannot wait.
We're getting excited
for the arrival of the month of Ramadan, so much so that some people have already announced what Ramadan will begin.
So excited, cannot wait for for the cross into BC.
Right. So we can't wait for the month of Ramadan. And some of us perhaps have all kinds of plans, and ambitions and aspirations
and resolutions and goals and objectives.
And if you don't have one, work on some this weekend, the clock is ticking. May Allah allow you and I to enjoy the month of Ramadan in the best of health and a spirit me.
Very exciting indeed.
But it doesn't end here. There is also another call that follows that as a matter of fact, in the old days, and in some villages, even nowadays, in some villages, people have already started to prepare themselves for the next call
for the ultimate goal. In the old days, many people used to begin responding to that call.
By this time, and in some remote areas, even months before this time,
the month of Ramadan will come upon them on their way in response to this call, a call that was made long time ago
in the sound of a great prophet, very special person, Ibrahim, Abraham, when Allah subhanaw taala told him called people He finished the building of the holy shrine, the Kaaba, him and his son Smith is my is married. When him and Ishmael finished, they asked the Lord to accept this from them,
and to bless it.
And to let people their descendants understand the value of it, the value of the Sacred House. So Allah subhanaw taala ordered him to make a call
and let people respond in what we know. Now as hedge.
Soon because right after the month of June before you know what the month of Ramadan is going to be over, and right after the month of Ramadan, the month of Hajj begin.
And very often we talk about hedge after the month of Ramadan by then, when people get excited, they're like, Oh, yeah, hedge I forgot, I totally forgot I was preoccupied with Ramadan, that I forgot about hedge which has an extraordinary experience,
which is very important.
And by the way, for us, for those of us who live in this part of the world is even more important. Now I'll tell you why.
It's very critical actually.
Because Allah subhanho wa Taala told Abraham to call people as infinity village, and they will respond.
And when speaking about
the Pillars of Islam, every pillar including prayer,
or the cat,
or fasting, or even how much
you're only obligated to do it, if you have the capacity or you have the ability, you have the physical, the physical, the mental, and the financial ability to do it. If you don't, if you lack any of these, then you're not obligated.
Right?
However, it's only when it comes to hedge that Allah subhanho wa Taala mentioned ability specifically when it comes to hedging.
So Allah subhanaw taala says leave and is so far in the history of ILA.
So, obviously, if you can't pray, if you can't pray, you're not obligated to pray. If you cannot physically pray, you're in a coma or something, you can't pray. If you can't fast, you have a chronic disease or illness that does not allow you to fast then you're not obligated to fast you compensate for it by doing something else. If you don't have the financial means, then Zika is not an obligation of money.
Right? This is obvious, but this is not mentioned explicitly, but it's known.
Right? But when it comes to hedges, specifically when a loss of habitat told us about hedge Allah subhanaw taala says Lee Minnesota in a Sabina hedges is an obligation upon all human beings, so long, they have the means to do it for the one who has the ability to do it.
As a panelist, perhaps one of the reasons is because the vast majority of people
do not perform hajj
and will not perform hajj and won't be able to perform Hajj.
It's really a selected very, very few people do it. And by the way, not only for the lack of the means, of course, obviously the lack of the means is the primary goal. But there are many people who possess the means to perform hajj and they don't they miss it.
We see that
according to statistics that we see, less than two tenths of a percent of the Muslim population perform Hajj every year, less than that is 0.2 not even 1%. So it takes about five to seven or eight years in order for just 1% of the Muslim population to be able to perform Hajj given that if you this is without taking out those who perform Hajj every year or every other year or multiple times within a within a short period of time.
At this ratio, that means many Muslims will die without performing hedge without even having the chance to perform hedge.
And very often when we talk about hedge after the ending of the month of Ramadan, people get excited. They're like well, I want to sign up. It's too late. All the seats are too
As a matter of fact, I just found out two days ago, that 87 to 89%. Maybe by now it's more than 90% of the visas,
at least of the company that we're going with are sold out. So only 10% left.
And in the next couple of weeks, perhaps by mid Ramadan is all going to be gone.
Yet many people don't realize the value of what they're missing. And the reason I say it's very critical for us here is because we really don't have many obstacles. We don't have much getting in the way of us performing hajj. But if it's not this year, maybe next year, we can plan it.
There are many, many people I know people that personally told me,
right, that they have been saving for decades, for decades to be able to afford hedge.
And many people say well, oh, well, it's not that I don't want to perform hajj, but it's just not affordable.
Yet, the average person spends more than $3,000
on a week or less than a week vacation, a family vacation, the average person here in America, and you have people who go, you know, on vacation every year, sometimes multiple times.
And if they calculate what they pay, when it comes to leisure and entertainment, I'm telling you, it's by far more than what the economic package costs even from here.
So how could you go on vacation, and at the same time, for the past 10 years, you have been saying that you can't afford hedge?
If this is the reason, for some people, they have another reason.
I'm just not ready. I'm just I'm very young, I'm not ready to be called hedge.
This, this misconception that many people have that hedges for old people,
hedges something you perform when you're ready to die.
Right.
So halala How do we know?
How do we know. And as a matter of fact, if you ask those who really were able to perform hajj, and were able to enjoy it, right, you ask those who performed Hajj, and you find that those who were physically fit
to be the most grateful for the opportunity, because they were able to experience the whole thing. So go when you are strong when you're young, when you can take care of others instead of being in a position where you will be you have to be taken care of.
And according to the majority of the scholars, a person has no excuse if they possess the means to perform high. They had the physical ability and they have the financial ability, and they delayed it and they missed that. They have no excuse.
Don't wait until your family or your heirs are in a position. They find themselves sad morning you're passing and then now they have to think about performing hajj on your behalf.
They want you to do something for you. So now they're thinking about performing hajj on your behalf, do it on your own behalf. Do it for yourself.
Do it for Allah.
I say this and ask Allah Subhana Allah to make you and I have those who listen and follow the vessel for they listen to our code or the code was so horrible hurry welcome
Alhamdulillah wa salatu salam O Allah De Lima Safa.
shala. Tonight, we're going to have speech, a lecture about
titled, Ramadan, about Ramadan, but about specific aspect of this month, the month of Ramadan is the month of prayer. And many of us are anxious waiting for that annual opportunity for us to hear the whole Quran or read the whole color and finish it
hopefully within the month of Ramadan.
So tonight we're going to be talking or focusing on that inshallah tada reaffirming our commitment to the Quran. Ramadan is a great opportunity for us to re engage and connect with the Quran and Subhana Allah brothers and sisters, just in my recent like research or study, I noticed how some handle on almost every page, definitely every surah but almost every page of the Quran has a message for you.
And many of us, actually, we glance or we read and sometimes for years and for decades, and we miss these messages and these answers
and I have tons of examples that I can share with you. I messaged him there
Many people, they go on for a long time confused about different things, or sometimes not even appreciating certain elements in their lives or in their religion.
Right? And the answer is right there.
So, this is an invitation to show love for us to reconnect with the book of Allah and engage the Quran practical tips of how we can reconnect with the Quran and how we can enjoy this book and benefit from it and allow it to empower us and make us
as it was intended, the best of believers. Also on Sunday, we have a very special program in Sharla, Chef Mustafa and myself will be at the extension at the IOC extension here on the Fullerton side,
from 130 to 330, with an intensive Ramadan is a cow workshop in Charlotte, Georgia, right? Instead of mentioning it in the hospital, we are going to be talking about it in sha Allah to Allah in the workshop. However, from that workshop, let me just take one point and address it because we have people who may not be able to make it brothers and sisters, passing the month of Ramadan is not optional.
You know,
over the past 40 years, I have met people who don't pray, which is very bad. Not praying is bad. However,
when it comes to fasting, they will fast. And this is amazing, you know, so they may not pray. But when it comes to fasting, they fast, which is good. But what happens to those people who don't fast, there are people who don't experience fasting when it comes to fasting.
Even those who don't, who don't pray or who don't feel they're committed to Islam, when it comes to fasting, they take it seriously. And now there's a growing number of people small but growing number of people who actually are abandoning fasting the month of Ramadan.
And this is very alarming and scary. The month of Ramadan,
fasting the month of Ramadan. And worse than that, are those people who say is optional?
I don't know what kind of ignorant
statement is this or where they heard it from but it's not optional.
And for those who say, well, well there's a verse that says no, no, there's a difference between a loss of Hamlet to Allah in the beginning before he obligated us to pass the month of Ramadan. And we've been talking about this in the Sunday after reflection Tafseer as we go over the verses that talk about fasting, there's a difference there was gradualism in the revelation. So in the beginning,
Allah Subhana Allah told the Muslims the Prophet sallallaahu some of the Muslims too fast
obligated them too fast and they used to fast one or two days
and in some narrations says three days of each month and then that fasting became optional.
That fasting became optional, and the month of Ramadan became mandatory.
So initially there was they were given an option to fast or those who cannot fast they can give the candle they're used to it. And then once the month of Ramadan was established as the month of fasting ever since a lot of
shout out Ramadan and Lydian Zilla field for an analysis of dementia hit me shut off earlier some it became an obligation upon the entire ummah.
So this this misconception this notion that somehow fasting is not an option and I can decide for myself if I can't you know if I don't feel like it maybe the first week I will skip you know maybe during my finals, it's not an option ajumma
fasting intentionally breaking the fast in one day of Ramadan
you cannot even if you fast the entire year after that to make up for it, it won't make up for it. The only thing that can explain that is just is Toba repentance, the sanctity of the month is not to be violated.
So just bear that in mind. All right. So join us inshallah for the workshop please move forward and fill in the gaps. Also, we have a very, we have this annual
commitment or practice that we have here in the masjid, we have these Ramadan gifts. Again, it's the idea was is to spread awareness about the month of Ramadan, the month of fasting to employers, fellow co workers and colleagues you know classmates neighbors, so we have these Ramadan gift boxes that have basic information about the month of Ramadan, some gifts and some you know dry fruits and you know date and nuts that are usually are associated with Ramadan cuisine, you know, in many ways
Some countries so they are available out there in Sharla. See, brother Jamal
is a great way of really spreading awareness about the month of Ramadan. So take advantage of that be the later Allah, I O See, welcome is welcoming all political candidates who are interested in meeting the Muslim public. Please find their table outside near the gate, introduce yourself and welcome our aspiring candidates for political office to the masjid they're out there, go out there and meet whoever is running in your district or representing you and share with them any thoughts or of course be, be thoughtful and wise and inshallah to Allah needless to say, but this is an opportunity for us to see those people who will be in the position potentially, to decide many
policies that affect us and affect our neighborhoods. May Allah subhanaw taala guide us and guide them to do that which is best. And may Allah Subhana Allah give us all wisdom and strength and resolve to do what is right. And that which pleases him so panna with Allah, Robinette enamorado kuramoto Hey,
