Salam aleikum wa Taala workato once again
Bismillah Alhamdulillah wa Salatu was Salam ala Rasulillah while
Allahi wa Sahbihi woman wala
Allahumma Zina Alma wala to the Kelowna mother it Hadith Anna
Hublin Angela don't Kurama inna can tell Wahab
we praise and glorify Allah subhanaw taala as he deserves and
recent peace and blessings
on the best of his creation, Allah's Messenger Muhammad
sallallahu alayhi wa salam and his noble family, we ask Allah
subhanaw taala to bless this gathering and make it useful for
us
not just as an information, but
as
something that would help us act upon it and
internalize what we learned today. What we remind each other today
so as you know, Allah subhanaw taala is our Rob. Allah is the
Creator and Sustainer of the whole universe.
Allah Swanton has created everything with a purpose. You and
I are not here just to spend our time we have a purpose and we need
to know that.
And Allah chooses whom He wills and what He wills he has enabled
us as being human beings, as opposed to every other kind of
creation. And among the human beings, Allah subhanaw taala has
enabled us to be believers to be Muslims. So that itself is a
privilege. And with every privilege comes responsibilities.
Okay?
Allah subhanaw taala is the creator of time and space and he
designated out of his wisdom, specialness to certain places and
give them greater sanctity such as my karma karma, where he built his
had his house built the Kaaba, such as God's Jerusalem, where
Allah subhanaw taala had mastered the Aqsa built, such as the oasis
of Medina, where Allah subhanaw taala chose the best place for the
burial of his most beloved crossover Rasul Allah.
Similarly, Allah subhanaw taala has assigned specialness to
certain months. Allah said when you created the University created
12 months and you said he made four of them, sacred months.
Is that is Ramadan, one of those four sacred months?
No, yes. Just checking.
In Allah subhanaw taala chose chose the best day of the week to
be
Friday, the day of June and Allah subhanaw taala chose the best
year, the best day of the year to be
day of the year.
The day of sacrifice, Adel adhaar, that's the best day of the year.
And Allah chose the best night to be
local recovery. You got it right this time.
Likewise, Allah subhanaw taala chose Ramadan to be a very, very
special month. And it specialness is related to what that Allah
chose this month to send his final communication to mankind his final
revelation, which is the
Quran,
the Quran was revealed. In this month, Allah chose this month to
communicate with his sermons.
Now we are in the month off
shebang. The Prophet sallallahu sallam said about this month of
Shabbat. He said dial Akasha Hoon, yoke follow NASA and who Boehner
Raja Ramadan there is a month between Raja and Ramadan about
which people are often there heedless we don't pay any
attention to this month. Well Hua Shahrukh
total FAO fee Hill Mr. Liu Ihlara Hill Rabbil Alameen This is the
month in which the deeds of mankind are elevated to Allah
subhanaw taala
for Hibou, a unifier Amelie an asana and therefore I want when my
deeds that he's saying Somalia is that when my deeds are taken to
Allah subhanaw taala and presented that I'm in a state of fasting.
What does that mean?
That he used to faster
lot in the
month of Shaban, he fasted more in this month than any other month or
mother. So you're doing now
Hola tuna. Aisha Radi Allahu Anhu said
the meaning of the hadith is that the Prophet salallahu alayhi salam
did not fast in any month more than he did in the month of
Shabbat. Of course Ramadan is fourth, it's not an ABI is not a
option. But the Prophet sallallahu alayhi salam told us to stop
fasting a few days two or three days before Ramadan just to honor
the month of Ramadan.
The prophets of Allah Allah Salam also said
before that there is another something special about this month
that a lot of our scholars have said that in this month of Shaban
was revealed an ayat of the Quran, which is in Allahu Mala kata who
you saw Lunarlon Nebia Yola, dinar Manasa Lola, he was a limitless
Lima. This is the idea that you hear every drawer,
which that Allah and His angels and peace and blessings on the
Prophet salallahu Alaihe Salam, and all you who believe Send peace
and blessings on the messenger and I did not hear a single person say
Allahumma Salli wa Sallim wa Barik Lhasa. So please say that in your
heart at least.
And the majority of scholars are also inclined to view that the
15th of Shaban the middle of this month,
is when the change of the people or took place from Jerusalem to
Mecca.
And about the night of the 15th of Shabbat there are many virtues in
different narrations which strengthen each other
Imam a subkey who was a prominent chef a scholar has mentioned
various names to this blessing and month. Last night the 15th of
Shaban which is coming and of this week, he said it's a squirrel
Leila toolbar. Erica, what does that mean? It is a blessed night,
Leila to tuck Feroz lube a night of expiation of sins, Leila tool
Bara
freedom from hellfire Leila Toluca, from the night of
forgiveness, all of them have the same general meaning. And about
this night the Prophet sallallaahu Salam said that Allah subhanaw
taala gazes at his creation and Allah already sees everything but
that's the narration in hola hola. Por lo fi Laylat in Niseko min.
Shaban for young of Pharaoh legitime country and he forgives
all of his creation on this night.
Ill except
I'll Mushrik Oh Masha.
Anyone who commits shirk and somebody who is a Masha in what is
a Moshe when somebody told me
those who have strong hatred and rancor in their hearts for others.
So if you have that character trait, you will not be forgiven on
that night. So what should we do at this point? Before we go any
further? Look we then do I have someone that I really hate and one
bad four,
especially if it's unjust.
Then we cleanse our hearts Allah forgive me. Clear your hearts from
those feelings, okay.
And Allah subhanaw taala forgives, we are all looking for
forgiveness. Allah grants forgiveness only to those who
attribute no partners to Him and who have no hatred for their
brothers in faith. And you can extend that to people of other
faiths also, as long as they have not harmed around you and they are
not doing evil things like many people are doing in the world. And
then also you don't hate them you hate their actions. So may Allah
subhanaw taala grant us a clean and tranquil heart.
There is a narration from the uncle of Imam Tirmidhi many of you
may have heard of this great Imam of Hadith. His name is Imam Abu
Bakr Al rappel Belfie from bulk. And he said the month of Rajab,
which has just gone by as the month of planting the seeds and
the month of Shaban this month is the month of irrigating of
watering those seeds. And Ramadan is the month of
harvesting, harvesting.
And the Prophet salallahu Alaihe Salam is narrated by him, I'm so
used to saying that Roger,
previous month is the month of Allah, of course, every month is
the month for Allah. But Allah has called that in a hadith that this
is Rasul allah sallallahu
Listen, I'm so this is Sharon Allah, this is the month of Allah
and he says Shaban is my month. And as we said he fasted most of
this month and Ramadan is the month of my OMA means my ummah,
you and me, this is your month to gain as much as you can. So that
should put some excitement in you.
So we are fortunate to be approaching another month of
Ramadan. And in sha Allah We ask Allah subhanaw taala
that he allows us to flourish that month. Who is God guarantee for it
so far?
hamdulillah nobody. So it's a privilege.
How many weeks away is it?
Just about two weeks around the 10th of
March it will be starting. So this is the month it's like the dawn is
breaking over the horizon. Ramadan is coming.
And Ramadan brings many sacred blessings, great rewards and gifts
for the bad the slaves of Allah subhanaw taala
not everybody benefits. This is for the slaves who aspire to
please Allah to come closer to him in this month,
because the month of Ramadan is sort of reiterates our
relationship. It sort of redefines that relationship between our rob
the creator and us as a bad and what is that relationship?
Complete, unconditional, willing, loving, conscious submission to
Allah subhanaw taala surrender. What does that mean? Whatever my
Rob says whatever he said through his Rasulullah Salallahu Salam,
semana. Altana hear and obey there is no ifs ands or buts about it,
okay. So Ramadan is an opportunity to confirm that or feed that
unicity of Allah subhanaw taala he is the rub always but we are
showing our actions that we worship none but Allah subhanaw
taala
Soon Allah Allah Allah Allah sunset Khadija Akuma Ramadan
chakra Mobarak that comes to you Ramadan, a blessed month and the
word Jah generally is used for something that's living so he's
almost making it sound like this the month that's living like it's
alive.
And then he says after Allahu La Coliseum, and Allah has made for
you, an obligation for you to fast this month.
To photography of wobble Jana, in this month, the gates of Jannah of
paradise or open,
yoga poofy ababu Jehane and in this month, the gates of hellfire
are closed and we'll talk a little bit more about that later.
But one Luffy hate shouting and shouting the evil gins and the
troops of shaitan of iblees are chained. Then he says fee Laila to
hero mean official and this is a night that is better than 1000
months.
Man Halima Hara ha Kado hurry him. Whoever is deprived of this month,
the blessings of this month, because it's so full of blessings
is truly a sad state he is truly deprived. So may Allah subhanaw
taala not make us be among those who are deprived of the blessings
of this month.
So my chef frequently says that Ramadan feels like a generous
uncle that visitors every year bringing when you're a child, lots
of gifts. And when you know he's coming, you get all excited, you
know? And that's what Ramadan is like. So we have to watch with
sort of apprehension and an excitement. What is Ramadan going
to bring? What does it have in store for me? And therefore we
have to be ready
as hosts, as worthy hosts to receive Ramadan is our guest.
Now, let me ask you a question. Why do I fast?
Why am I going too fast on Ramadan? Yes.
Because Allah commanded, simple as that. I am the abbot of Allah. I
fast because I am the Abdullah Abdullah. Allah means who obeys
whatever Allah says, Allah has made it forth. I have fast and
Allah subhanaw taala as you know, created us mankind and jinn kind
for the purpose of his worship. The word worship is very
comprehensive.
And Allah smart Allah says He created everything in the universe
to serve us.
And he created us as the best of his creation, and we are the best
of his creation as long as we fulfill the covenant that we made
with him. Our souls in the realm of the souls before we came on
this earth, into the souls into our bodies, we had a contract with
Allah. Allah subhanaw taala asked and he tells us this in the Quran
so that we don't forget. I just took it up because Am I not your
Lord? And our soul said even though we may not have any recall
of it, the Soul Memory ALU Bala Shaheed Allah, we bear witness
that You are our Lord. So as long as we fulfill that covenant,
taking Him as our Lord, and that is very comprehensive. It's not
just saying Allah as my Lord
means absolute submission, surrender and obedience. As long
as we fulfill that covenant, we are human, that's our humanity.
And when we break that covenant, then our souls get corrupted. And
we can then fall sometimes to the level of animals,
cattle, and even worse, predatory animals, killing, usurping and
doing all kinds of bad things.
So Ramadan is a means of regaining our souls to the extent of being
elevated to the level of human being for which even the angels
were ordered to do a search the off honor.
If you look around in the world, the way human beings are living,
do you think they're worthy of an angelic Sajida? Certainly not.
Okay.
So this is a month in which we try and regain that soul for what we
were created.
And as you know, the word worship is a comprehensive word. It means
to do everything that Allah smart, Allah loves, and he is pleased
with and refrained from everything that he dislikes that he has
forbidden that he does not like. And to replace what my likes, my
desires, my Lord desires, my inclinations with what Allah
likes.
And as long as we see Allah subhanaw, Taala and everything,
then we keep him as our goal. And as long as we keep him as our
goal, all the laws in creation, will they were made to be
subservient to you, everything is subservient to you, when we lose
that humanity When we rebel against Allah subhanaw taala other
laws become operative.
Which then work against us.
And there is no place to run away from Allah subhanaw taala at any
time,
except where?
Where can you run from Allah Squanto?
Guess you can
run to him.
That's the only place you can go.
Have you ever seen a mother yelling and screaming at a child
who's been bad?
You know, where the child still runs to?
To the mother and clings on?
I think my sisters are very distracted by this door opening.
Focus, focus, focus, focus Sharla.
Every act of worship, that Allah Subhana Allah has commanded
has one objective what is that objectives? Every act of worship
but that Salah whether it's a card, whether it's Ramadan,
whether it's what is the goal of that what is the objective?
Anybody know?
Worship Allah, to worship Allah and consequence another way of
saying it to get closer to Allah. Okay, everything because Allah is
the source of life, Allah is the source of happiness. Everybody's
looking for happiness. You only get happiness by pleasing Allah.
He is this the source of all safety and peace.
Everyone's looking for safety and peace. Look at what's happening in
the world. Who is a Salam Allah. So getting closer to Allah,
everybody's looking for guidance, looking for light allies and new
allies howdy. He's the guide, He guides to whom He wills. So I fast
as was said because I am an advocate for loss, submissive
slave of Allah. And Allah commanded me to fast.
Now the month of Ramadan has many sacred virtues, many of you know
about it. And we just mentioned in that
idea that when Ramadan comes the gates of Jannah are wide open,
what does that mean?
What does that mean? It's not something we can see.
But you can feel it you know how you feel it the gates of gender
opened everything that you know leads to Jannah becomes easier to
do.
Allah subhanaw taala facilitates for you
and gives you plenty of opportunities for good virtuous
actions.
And do you feel that in Ramadan, that it's so much easier to do
good things? Some of you if you don't think about it, when you
when you experienced this and we know the gates of Janome of
hellfire are closed what does that mean?
It becomes harder to do those actions that lead to Jannah it
becomes harder to sin
temptations are easier handled. So, Allah subhanaw taala makes the
doing of evil actions of disobedience
difficult in Muslim countries, are they alcoholics there are some
alcoholics are the yes they are in the month of Ramadan even they
stopped drinking
because the gates of the handle closed
this thing happens in the unseen realm Allah SmartTiles commands
and we are told the devils are chained what does that mean?
All of those evil Shayateen from the jinn kind who come and whisper
to us
when ideas think of this, do this do that they are chained in a
special way. In other words, they are removed from the equation they
will no longer approach you now so if that is the case, which it is
and you still thinking bad thoughts what does that tell you?
Yes, it's yourself it's your enough's. So Ramadan is a good
opportunity to know where we stand what is my enough slide? Because
we can no longer blame or the Shaytan said this to me Shannon
did this to me why because all the shotguns are removed and they are
restrained by Allah by the commands of Allah.
In this month, every day an angel calls encouraging us he says Oh,
see ya the hair up share or secret of good glad tidings or come near
means compete with each other for good deeds. Yeah, Bobby sharp,
Oxford, or secret of evil refrain.
So therefore,
just remember that we are told by Rasulullah sallallahu listen that
there's an angel making this call every day in Ramadan. Do we hear
that call
if you prepare your heart, if you prepare your heart to hear that
call, even though your ears don't hear it, you will hear it in your
heart that you're being encouraged towards good and that you're being
told to restrain from
evil things.
And Allah subhanaw taala grants freedom from the Hellfire every
night of Ramadan Allah subhanaw taala is looking at it's like a
sale Take whatever you want and that what he is granting us one of
the most valuable which is forgiveness. Mother Farah from
colorless mana Tala. So just think of it. You have an annual event of
forgiveness because from one Ramadan to another, all your minor
sins that you've committed since last year by the blessings of
Ramadan are erased and there are three distinct opportunities of
forgiveness. What are they?
Every night there is an opportunity. What is that
opportunity for forgiveness? Anybody know?
There are the salam salah of tarawih there is special extra
Salah it's not the first of course we have to do because also Lasala
lawless and St. Monica Ramadan Iman right this urban warfare
Allahumma Takata, Mammon Dombey whoever stands in the night of
Ramadan for these extra scholars of Tarawa Iman condition, it's
conditional Iman and Rector sirven with faith and by faith, I'm not
going to go into that detail I hope you all no faith in Allah
subhanaw taala without any partners as a creator Sustainer
all that faith and Rasulullah sallallahu Eman of the Quran, the
Afra all of these are kind of of iman with that faith and also fate
in Allah's promises what he's promising us that the sovereign
means with certainty that this will happen. Allah forgives his
sins and every day there
is an opportunity for the same because Hadees another Addison,
mon sama Ramadan Iman and red cassava or Farah Lahoma, Taka
dama. Whoever fast in the day
the same thing same to condition Iman, faith and certainty if
Allah's reward will be forgiven.
And in case somebody for some reason was not able to, there is a
final opportunity, what is that? Woman karma Laylatul Qadr eemaan
and rakta sabun Wolfinger. Mata Katama mindand. The same words in
the end, and whoever stands the light of night of Leila Toluca,
just one night.
And we don't know which night that's going to be we have some
ideas, but who catches that night will have all of his sins
forgiven? So what is the big deal about forgiveness of sins? What
does it mean?
Suppose your sins is there anybody here who doesn't have sins? Raise
your hands?
Good. So we are realistic, we know. At least we know that much.
So when we say Your sins are forgiven, what does it do? First
of all, what is the impact of sins on us?
Heart, it stains your heart, to the degree that
the clarity disappears. You don't see truth as truth and falsehood
as falsehood you become confused about things.
You start even having doubts, doubts, is there an anchor? What's
going to happen? Is there a paradox ultimately, is their Lord?
It gets to that point. Okay.
So, the accumulation of sins, you know, the example that the Prophet
salallahu alayhi salam gave us was like black dots, you know, take a
black permanent marker, the white white one, and you keep standing,
putting your on your heart like each sin every time soon the heart
becomes black and no light penetrates. Caliban Ron Allah
colloquium, Allah subhanaw taala says it becomes impenetrable. So
the effect of forgiveness is the clap the clearing out of the
effects of sin. And therefore it's It cleanses your heart, your my
heart, so that the internal eye of the heart can see things clearly,
and know truth from truth and falsehood from falsehood. And
therefore, then when we go through challenges like humans going
through today, whether it's an Philistine whether it's anywhere
else, Sudan or in America different kinds, we, as you know,
life is going to be one of challenges. There will be events
in our lives in the life of the community in the life of
the Ummah, there are conditions in the world, that we start to see
them clearly. What does this mean? So we don't stress about it. We
don't get depressed about it, we do the right things about it.
And ultimately, in everything, we start to see the names and
attributes of Allah subhanaw taala is Jellal and his journal is His
Majesty and might in certain things that are going on and his
Shabbat, his beauty is mercy and other things.
And also, cleanliness is necessary because nothing unclean ever
approaches Allah subhanaw taala. So this internal cleansing through
forgiveness through Toba in this month, who is the FAR and the
blessings of this then lifts these veils of heedlessness that we
develop because when effect of sin is that makes you heedless, you
forget about forget about Allah, you forget about Africa, you
forget about your debt, you forget about where you're going. You
forget about the purpose of your life. You're busy, busy, busy
completely. So the forgiveness helps you become more aware.
And Ramadan energizes us even though we hopefully eat less, but
we feel more energy. And the most energy you feel is spiritual
energy which means that I want to journey to my rub in a better way.
I want to do more to please Mara.
And among the one of the greatest blessings in the month of of the
Ramadan is the Quran that Allah subhanaw taala honored this month
by the revelation of the Quran.
As far as the heart is concerned, there are there is an abundance of
Hadith of sayings of the Prophet salallahu Alaihe Salam, I'm just
going to tell you the translation of one of one of them. He said
that in the body there is a piece of flesh if it is flesh, if it is
sound, then the whole body is sound. If it's corrupted, the
whole body is corrupted.
Well, he'll call and this is the heart so it's telling us the most
important organ of our body the most important is our hearts and
Ramadan is an opportunity is the best opportunity to make
are cold or hot spiritual heart sound unhealthy.
Also Ramadan gives us the opportunity for our thesis Kia
does here means to purify our character, our souls, our desires,
bring him in line with what Allah loves. And for anyone who's
seeking Allah subhanaw taala, a person in Ramadan is always
looking within themselves to identify what needs to change in
me.
We don't fool ourselves by thinking, you know, I'm God's gift
to mankind. We all have weaknesses. Some are general
weakness, some are specific to us, or Ramadan is an opportunity why
be said because we can't no longer blame the shayateen for ideas. If
I'm still doing something that gives me an idea that I've got a
character flaw I have
a weakness of certain time and therefore I need to work on it.
And Allah subhanaw taala designated fasting as a very
special event in every Ibadah every act of worship we do is for
Allah Samantha. Right? Yet Allah Subhana Allah says
Kulu Amma Lebanon Adam la illicium For in Nollywood, Ana IGCP said
all the the acts of worship of the children of Adam and for them
except illicium. Fasting, he said, that is for me. Now that's a
special designation given to this Salah Allah saying this is for
you.
So this is one way of honoring you means you are the ultimate
beneficiary does Allah get any benefit out of that of your Salah?
No.
Everything is actually for our benefit. But Allah has honored
this act of fasting by saying it is for me. And Allah subhanaw
taala has specified rewards for your good deeds in some things,
you get 10 times the reward 700 times the reward but for fasting
he did not specify and I will say unspecified whenever it's things
are unspecified, like era like this means unlimited, they're not
something that the human mind can fathom. It is beyond the reward of
fasting is beyond anything.
And when this says that, you know when we fast? The order that comes
out of our mouth isn't the most pleasant, you know, yet to Allah
that is more beloved than the smell of mosque. Why? Because it's
the order of obedience.
Okay,
order of obedience, and fasting. We are told by Rasulullah
Salallahu Alaihe Salam is a shield it's a shield of protection from
disobedience protection from the hellfire.
And he said SallAllahu Sallam that a fasting person.
For him that is far hotter, there are two joys, to joys. The first
one is when he breaks his fast what is that? Joy?
What is the joy of breaking of the fast?
Especially if you've got
a wide spread of as you seen the massages and people running over
them as if they've never eaten before?
What is the joy?
Waiting?
Are some. The real joy at that time is I obeyed Allah so
that I was able to please Allah. And the forgotten the real joy. He
said a forgotten Hanaa yo, Cara, but the other joy is when that
person meets his Rob
on the day of judgment, because why would that be a moment of joy?
Because when he sees the reward for the fasting that was done,
he is going I mean that amount of joy, our hearts and our current
states cannot handle so we're not worried about it, because they
would explode from joy. But you will see the joy of fasting on
that time. And of course, as you know, another beauty of this month
is that your dog has are accepted special moments.
What are the special times and special moments that any person
who is fasting, really fasting for Allah, while he's fasting, his
laws are excellent. When he gets up early in the morning before
dawn to do so however, that's a time of acceptance of when he sits
for 1015 minutes before Iftar and he makes dua that was accepted
when he
Standing at night that dye is accepted. So there are ample
opportunities in the month of Ramadan for acceptance of that. So
what should we do as a result of that?
Now we know that
we tell everybody right there's lots of doors accept is that what
you're supposed to do? What are you supposed to do?
Make a lot of dua that's the opportunity right? Don't just know
that you know, this is the time for acceptance and it's time for
acceptance of DA is you know, before you break the fast but what
am I busy with? I'm frying my whatever things for food, no, take
time. Don't be focusing on food on da
take care of all those needs before that, okay, so use those
opportunities
among the Iots there's Ramadan is only mentioned in Surah Baqarah.
Just page and a half and sandwiched in between is a very
interesting idea.
Allah subhanaw taala says, the meaning of witches
when My servants ask you, about me
in the crib,
I am indeed close. This is and Allah says and I answered the door
of those who supplicate to me and let them also obey me.
I have Ramadan I have Ramadan then this and that back to is of
Ramadan sandwich in between is this iron in which Allah stresses
his closeness to us.
Okay, um, there are more details about the the eye itself I don't
have time at this time. So we'll go on just to tell you that this
is another opportunity to really come close to Allah subhanaw
taala.
And as we know, we have a unique blessing night which is left on
Qatar which comes in the last third of Ramadan among the last 10
nights, and probably the odd nights. And what is the blessings
of
little color? First of all, it's blessed because it was on this
night that the Quran was revealed.
And what does that mean the Quran was revealed on this night Can
somebody explain to me
the first revelation, which was which
Quran was revealed on this is that the only meaning of this
was
that the majority that is Iijima on this that the entire Quran from
the Lachelle Mahfouz descended to that special in the heaven here on
there is another bite of Allah like the kava beetle, it descended
from there, the entire Quran. And then from there.
Over 23 years, the rest of the revelation came so there is the
the
belief in the revelation of the entire Quran from that guarded
tablet to the lowest lowest heaven. And then from there
gradually over 23 years.
And all that happened in little Quadra. And what is the reward of
little color? And what is good about it?
What does it mean? I don't mean official else means 1000 Shadow
means month.
So it's not equal to the reward of worshipping 1000 months. Hey,
better. And you know what worship of can you worship for 1000 years?
You call if you live long enough, what is 1000 1000 months mean? You
know, your math is poor.
83 years and four months,
83 years and four months. So if you started worshipping at the age
of 12, let's say, okay, puberty, then you'd have to live 95 years
plus every day in that state of worship, and you get that reward
and
wonder how generous is my computer
and there are some narrations about this.
That
you know, the nations before used to have long lives.
Some of them lived hundreds of years.
And some of the companions of the Prophet salallahu Alaihe Salam
were sort of discussing they were
sort of disappointed that they were lucky nations. They live so
long. They're worshipped Allah for so long.
We have short lived 70 years, how can we compete with them? Who
worship for 709 100 years?
So I'll reveal this. You're a special Omar, I'll give you one
night that's equal to all of that and you do this every every
Ramadan for 60 years, multiply that by 60
which is how many years? 06 years 18 816 is 44 almost 5000 years.
Right?
So, is it enough to know that
what should you do sir?
Make sure that you do not miss a night
and the way of making sure you don't miss it is not to worship on
27th night because you don't know if that's going to be level to
cover
every night of the last 10 nights because sometimes
your odd night is the even night in Europe and Middle East so who's
or who's even so the only way to know for sure is last 10 Nights
all
okay, and you do that and you will feel the rewards of it and you
know you have secured it
and on the day of judgment that has Hadees that your good deeds
will be personified they will come
to plead on your behalf or be evidence against you for example
the Quran will come Allah will grant it a special status to plead
for you or against you similarly fasting will come to intercede on
your behalf yeah Allah this Abdo of yours fasted and observe this
so
that may intercede for him.
And not only that,
when we are going to Inshallah, enter Paradise, Paradise has
gates, it's not a free for all anybody wants go in? Right?
Because this is valuable. It's precious. Okay. It's Jana.
So it's got gates and their guards.
How many gates are then paradise? It gets, what is the name of a
special gate that is for the saw a moon the people who used to fast
regularly it's called what any of you have that name here?
Right.
This doesn't mean the person who fasted every Ramadan and saw him
Moon means more than that. I think of all the extra fasting and the
beautiful of course the fasting of Ramadan, and fasting every month
fasting Mondays and Thursday fasting every other day fasting,
the 1314 15 Fasting Ashura fasting, the first nine days of
the all those opportunity fasting most of Shaban like rasool Allah
Sama, so person who does most of his life doing that.
Then you go to the Nano, you can enter from there, that's your fast
track.
Image.
Fast Track into paradise.
And Ramadan is also a special opportunity to reconnect our
hearts with the word of the Quran, word of Allah subhanaw taala to
decrypt through the lava.
And
that helps soften our hearts. In the interest of time, I'm going to
go through this. Now let's say before we go into Ramadan, we have
to prepare for it.
If you're going to run a marathon or if you're going to run us you
do a sprint or if you have an exam, you prepare for it. You
don't just show up on that day, right?
Correct. You know, people are running marathons, half marathons,
one on top of months, preparing for if you want to do a sprint,
have you practice before the game, practice, practice practice you
have to practice for Ramadan practice or it's good no big deal
I can fast we're not talking about just staying hungry.
Fasting with the spirit of Ramadan. So there are
if you look back now people you guys are young so you don't know
this. But I can tell you that that some of us have fasted 30 years,
40 years, 50 years
almost 60 years.
Ramadan ever did fulfill 30 days out of 30
and Ramadan have come and gone at the end of that you notice nothing
has changed in your life.
Nothing has changed in your life.
One day, you don't fit. You're back to where you are one week
later.
Same level of Ibadah same character flaws, same
heedlessness. Same desires, same weaknesses same sinfulness. I
don't see a change in attitude, no improvement and character, no
awareness of Allah subhanaw taala. What does this mean? That means
I've fasted the month without its raw, the spirit behind it, I
fulfill the external, it's like clay, without the Solon because if
they were solely on my fasting, you would see a change in me.
So Ramadan
is meant to change us, and that it should bring us a special internal
Calbee internal stage in our heart of awareness of Allah,
which in Arabic is called what?
Taqwa everybody knows what toque means. Who doesn't know what that
word means, because difficult to explain it but just for your
reminder, one to be aware of Allah
to be conscious of him to be fearful of him especially fearful
of disobeying Him and displeasing him. And part of that is, every
moment I'm aware, therefore, what is Allah's command for me here and
I do that, what Allah loves I do that what Allah forbids, I stay
away from that. That's all part of Taqwa. So Allah subhanaw taala
tells us that this is a month for us to gain Taqwa. It's sort of
like charging your
Toccoa Tesla battery insight
that should last you for the rest of the year. Okay. So Ramadan is a
month of action. It's not just a month of any more knowledge, more
knowledge, we have that knowledge. It's acting on that knowledge.
It's not about learning more. Otherwise, we're just like a
databank. Okay. Google will tell you everything you want to know
about Ramadan. But Google is not entering through the year and I
can tell you that okay.
So it's not about information.
So
it's a month of competition.
You want to compete, compete with each other and good deeds. So how
do we start before Ramadan comes as we said before, first we
cleanse our hearts of everything that Allah does not like starting
with any form of partnership with Allah shirk, hatred, grudges,
greed, jealousy, anger, arrogance, all the diseases of the hearts,
okay, we try look within be honest with ourselves, and ask Allah Ya
Allah. Remove this from me. It's like taking an internal gospel
shower, or a bath, internal from all of these negative qualities,
and renewing our Toba which is repentance and asking for
forgiveness before Ramadan comes so that we get a running start.
And part of that is we
forgive everybody, people who have wronged us. And
therefore as the Hadith says, those who forgive others, Allah
will forgive them. So this is one way of preparing myself to be
forgiving by Allah by forgiving everybody else. It's not just like
I forgive you, and I'm still holding it in my heart No,
forgive,
be free. That's freedom otherwise, who's burning from that? Who
yourself?
Number three, become merciful towards people
and creatures and everything else because whoever shows mercy to
Allah's creatures, Allah will show mercy to him.
And we practice our fasting of Ramadan by how
fasting in the month of Shaban.
Show of hands how many have fasted at least a few days on Shabbat. So
far, we are around the 10th hamdulillah Hamdulillah. And I'm
sure there are more who haven't raised their hands out of the
class. May Allah bless you and go do more, do more, except just
leave the last few days. Okay. And we have the 1314 15 coming fast
those days because the 15th is also the next shebang.
Now, another important thing to do is very important to start reading
off the screens, social media, Netflix, all of those screen
addictions, okay?
Limit your time with that. That's a lot of wasted time. So that you
have more time to do something high impact something that
It is useful deeds that Allah loves, remove a lot of apps from
which things go in one into the other. Instagram this big Facebook
does that, remove them even if nothing else, even for the month,
just remove them. And also
set up time batch your time, I need to check emails, morning,
afternoon evening to set a time, don't be constantly every
notification I have to check shut off, shut off unless something
important is is expected. So
reschedule some of your worldly obligations that we have for the
month of Ramadan. And another thing to do since this is the
month of the Quran, start reading more of the Quran in this month so
that you when the month starts and you're
going all out with the Quran and all out of the Quran, you should
have the intention of at least doing one customer of the Quran
and Quran means in Arabic And those who don't please read the
translation one complete from the beginning to the end. Then have
some extra time for what is called the double which is reflection on
the Quran property.
Take one eye of what you read and reflect what do you reflect? What
does this mean? What does Allah want from me? What are the
implications of this? Okay?
So reflection on that spend some time and ask Allah to open the
Allah open the meanings of these words.
Because the Quran has layers and layers of meaning there's just an
obvious meaning. Then you go into depth it's a treasure chest every
iron. Okay? ask Allah to open that for you.
And start spending more time in the current da because we are
going to be doing a lot of during Ramadan so it's time to practice
and also start reducing your variety and quantity of food in
this month
of Ramadan is called the month chakra suburb of patience to
endure.
And
it's as patience is required for Ramadan and it's also one of the
fruits of Ramadan. It teaches you patients both ways. And that
patience is also to be steadfast in fighting against your desires.
Like for example, oh nice cookie
can reach time faster. I'm not going to extend my end. So teaches
you restraint. That's also patients suffer from temptations.
I'm sleeping. I don't want to pray. This is Ramadan. I can skip
it. That's patience. steadfastness. Okay, so prepare
for that. And Ramadan is the month of generosity. There was nobody
more generous than Rasulullah Salallahu Salam al
in the month of Ramadan Cana Rasulullah sallallahu listen,
I heard that he was the most generous Eduardo Bill ferry min
real humble Salah it was like you know, those winds that bring that
fertilizer thing that goodness for everybody. That's how he was more
generous. So we can start practicing some generosity $1 Here
dollar, the needy persons and to the Philistine here that feeding
people feeding people is very, very important. And as you know,
if you feed
a fasting person, and you help them break as fast Allah writes an
equal reward for that fast in your account without diminishing the
reward of that person.
And we have to ask, make dua to seek Allah's closeness is called
through reading more of the Quran. With angry focus in our victory we
improve our focus in our salah. And we try and find some private
time in halwa in in solitude, especially those who can take off
which is done the last 10 days of Ramadan for those who are able to
so Allah subhanaw taala tells us that the main goal of Ramadan he
says yeah yo Latina quotevalet como si mo gamma quotevalet La
Nina when Kubla Khan La La Quinta own, that fasting has been
prescribed for you like it was for nations before you so that you may
become that taco and people have Taqwa. And we've already discussed
what turquoise and the second thing Allah wants us to become
among the people who are
thankful
gratitude because you don't take your food for granted now you know
it comes shadow Ramadan Allah doomsday Luffy Hill Quran Huda
Linares where you were but united min alHuda Well, FERPA
Financial Aid I mean commercial failure. So when when Ken Marino
Allah suffering fight determina Yamanaka, you read a lot of a
common usaba you need to become an awesome well it took me about
eight that I wanted to cut below Allah.
When Allah competition Quran so that you will become grateful to
Allah.
So both taqwa and sugar are internal states that are
manifested by external actions. A person of Taqwa acts in a certain
way. You can see it in that person's character of how they
look where they look, how they, they talk, the volume of the talk,
the words they talk, what kind of things the subject they're talking
about. When they see people in difficulty, what they do
everything. Taqwa is how when it's in your heart, and Allah knows the
state of Taqwa. And if you're aware of him at all times, you
will only only beautiful things will come out from you. Beautiful
words, beautiful actions, okay. That is the effect of, of dukkha.
So here we are told that the physical axis of how do you get
Taqwa just from not eating, and not drinking? That's all part of
it. But fasting is more than that. It's fasting of the eyes, what you
look at what you've done, and it's especially fasting of the tongue.
What you say what you don't say otherwise, you ruin the quality of
your fast, you know, fasting, I'm hungry. And as the Prophet said,
there are people who get nothing out of fasting except hunger and
thirst. Why? Because while they're observing that they're backbiting
they're saying bad things. They're lying and
zero reward wiped out. So fasting is more than just hunger and
thirst.
So the more Taqwa the more beautiful you are, the more
beautiful you're UCLA, the more Taqwa you gain, and that's sort of
a circular loop. It's a spiral towards Allah. Okay.
What is the value of one day of proper sown and not this is not
about Ramadan any one day of fasting Do you know one fast done
perfect?
One sama Yeoman fie. sebe Lila,
by Adela who, whichever and Inari Sabina Khalifa, the Prophet
sallallahu sallam said, One day of fasting, Allah will remove the
face of that person, the distance of 70
autumns away you know how long every autumn comes after a year 70
years distance from the Hellfire
for one day of fasting
but it's conditional. What is the condition?
Fee subby Lilla
test to be purely for Allah with all of those conditions okay.
Not for my nerves not for weight loss not because of what would
people say this is for Allah.
Now, so that's the preparation ahead of Ramadan. Now we come to
Ramadan starts, what should we do?
Everyone should set up I would highly recommend specific goals
and an action plan. Make a chart for yourself.
beginning of Ramadan, middle of Ramadan last 10 days of nights of
Ramadan. So as we said, one should be a goal to do with Quran
completing reading of the Quran and reflecting on the Quran.
That's one. So if you read one juicer which is about 20 pages of
the Masaf, you will complete the
this is a month of Taqwa. So you shield yourself from things that
are disobedience, especially by a lot of extra prayers, extra
charity, extra liquor, both in your tongue, or in your tongue and
in your heart.
Because Allah subhanaw taala tells us that no person comes closer to
me, this is just paraphrasing it except by what I have made further
an obligation. So and then they keep coming closer to me by doing
Navarre Phil extra till he says till I become his ears by which he
hears and eyes by which is the end by which he sees and holds. And so
the best way of coming closer is observing the fraud, the
obligations and then more and more extra.
And Sabra as we said, make sure that we control our temper when
you are fasting that you control tongue it's very critical that's
part of the patient's in because people will aggravate you things
whether you may get upset. Remember in the saw him this is
not we're not telling people I'm fasting, reminding yourself in
Nissan, Nissan, I am fasting. I cannot,
you know, get angry. I cannot engage with
This troublesome person who is you know, in my face, I'm fasting.
Okay, Move away, move away a
lot of generosity in this month, make sure you feed some hungry
people a
lot of gratitude to Allah subhanaw taala for his blessings, by
using his blessings in the way that he loves.
And as we said, us, one of the greatest blessings that we have is
time, our life is time. Don't waste your time, TV, news this,
that and the other as much time as you can in worship, the Quran, all
of that. And as we said, if you can you make out the calf who
bought the massage, it's here, Hampshire, and is WM, there is
facilities available. If you cannot do 10 Nights, you can do
one night, five nights, whichever you can come with that intention.
And also, just remember, we've already talked about Laylatul
Qadr. Don't miss the little cuddle.
And therefore stand in prayer at night as much as you can for
tarawih Eman and metta seven.
And you should know that Sahar which is the pre Dawn meal is a
very blessed me and Allah subhanaw taala sends blessings in the
people who get up at this time to and the angels do do offer the
forgiveness. The Prophet sallallahu alayhi salam said the
Sahaba is what distinguishes up from the people of the book
because they did not they would fast 24 hours from one night to
the other way. Delay are so poor that pre Dawn meal till just
before you know a few minutes before the break of dawn, but you
don't go into that Dawn so what is that few minutes, the time to
recite the Hadith says about 50 hours of the Quran. So for five
minutes before the break of dawn, you finish eating
Okay, and we have no calendars which tell you what time it is.
But don't give up the soul. So if you get up late keep a glass of
water and you before the alarm goes. Even if you take a sip of
water or date whatever we are not saying you have a big meal in a
four course meal in shape. In fact, you should not have that
same month of restraining yourself including when you break your fast
don't break it with a vengeance. I'll show you how much I can eat.
I've been hungry all day. Eat lightly. Eat lightly shallow
otherwise you will be snipping the taraweeh and burping away that's
what we experienced many times.
Guard your eyes.
Guard your ears, especially guard your tongue. This reminder for me
first, from everything that Allah subhanaw taala is displeased with
otherwise we lose the reward again we come out of Ramadan having
fasted, no change a
lot of the lot of la ilaha illallah a lot of tepee and lots
of Salalah NaVi Allah masala and especially on the days of Juma
Okay. Try and do at least set for yourself 1000 Salah Nabhi for each
your
lottery stick for and Toba asking for forgiveness
and be diligent and observing every sunnah because Allah loves
the Sunnah of Rasulullah Salallahu Salam make lot of Da as we give
you the time between a certain McGraw before you break your fast
at the time of Soho in the nights when you get to hygiene, make the
offers for yourself, your families, your parents, whether
they're living or they have gone by people, muslims or muslims all
over the world for for our shoe for our lemma who teach us
and, and for guidance of non Muslims. They are brothers in
humanity.
For our brothers and sisters who are and children that are going
through a difficult situation all over the world. Never forget what
our brothers and sisters and Philistine they're going through
horrors that we cannot even imagine human beings can inflict
this on another human being unbelievable of starvation of
disease of bombing and massacre and genocide and
yesterday again, we vetoed the ceasefire resolution in the United
Nations. May Allah guide our leaders and guide the Muslim
leaders to that which is higher which is beloved to him. This is
all a test for us. So a lot of Da Allah wants to see do you get
fatigued and making dua because I'm not making the results come
out? No, Allah wants you to keep making more and more. Okay.
living and the dead
and always look for opportunities to do good deeds. You will get a
lot of mail we get a lot of mail and Ramadan appeals okay. And
sometimes oh man another one. No, you
assist Allah subhanaw taala said just think Allah sent you that
mail, whether it came from Islamic Relief, or helping her or from
vital Well, Allah sent it to give you an another opportunity for
helping someone, okay? Take it as that even if you have a little,
not saying it millions, whatever you have to, if you have millions
give that.
So, the goal of of Ramadan is not just fasting. Fasting is a means
the goal is the pleasure of Allah. So the goal is taqwa The goal is
to be thankful to Allah subhanaw taala. And you should sit and
remind yourself and refresh these things frequently in Ramadan, but
your family remind you even though we know them, so always good value
when you sit in Seoul remind them of the value of solar. When it's
time for do I remind people of that, okay?
Make if you're living in your families, here also you have a
family of Muslims make it a family event, okay, it's a team effort,
everyone helping each other to gain maximum benefit out of
it. So the last 20 minutes or so I just want to go over some of the
the rulings of Ramadan. Briefly, I'm sure all of you know it. That
fasting of Ramadan is an obligation. It's a fun, okay, it's
mandatory for who?
Who is at fault for
every
Muslim, who is an adult, who is now has tech leaf of emoticon
live, who has passed the age of puberty, who is
sane,
and was able to fast who's not sick or impaired from some other
thing, okay, it's an obligation.
Now, there are exceptions to that, which we'll come to. So it's so
far, it's not just optional.
The virtues are faster. We've already talked about the beginning
of how do we decide the beginning of the month of Ramadan by the
siting of the halal of the new moon. If it's cloudy, then we
finished 30 days of the month before, which is the month of
Shabba. And the citing has to be by
some say one subset to reliable Muslim witnesses. Okay.
And there are differences of whether it's local sighting or
global sighting, people have different opinions cited locally
means in your continent, in your town, in your city in your state,
or you take a global sighting while it was outside in Saudi
Arabia, if you know, but they announced things so there are
differences of opinion about that. It's always better to
have a local sighting. Okay, that's how we like to do it in
North America somewhere. Whether it's in Florida, because
frequently we don't see it, or whether it's in California because
many times many countries they already have calendar they've
already announced when Ramadan is because they go by calculations.
And some scholars have said okay, but the hadith is very clear when
you see
so we like confirmation of see
number three intention, you must make an individual intention for
fasting each act of each fast is an individual obligation that day.
So every fast you must make an intention at all time but I'm
gonna fasters for the sake of Allah for this month of Ramadan,
you can make a globe you know, a month long intention but still
because each be just like each Salah is individual. You should
make an intention for each for as each unit 30 units of fasting and
most of the scholars have considered it as YG it is rockin
so we already talked about Allah's mercy descends on the people who
do support the pre Dawn meal, a light pre Dawn meal, preferably
with water and date and milk but anything else that you like, okay,
don't make it too heavy. And the angels make the offer of your
forgiveness and this is what distinguishes us from the people
of the book.
And we like to do it in some people said before I go to sleep
let me do it. You can but it's preferred to keep it towards the
end just before dawn comes in to have that meal set up the alarm.
So if it's going to start at 5am You have your suit at 430. Okay.
And it is highly recommended. It's Mr. Habits beloved,
and the time to begin and end of the fast
just you know the time to begin the fastest call the what is it
call Fajr of Sadhak the true Dawn where the reddish pneus of the
horizon spreads this way and there is something called fragile
candidate which is you just see a light going up
it's difficult if you will try doing this here because there's so
much lights around it makes it hard but it's about an hour and 25
minutes before the sunrise that this time comes in. And we have
calendars now to help us
where the black thread and the white thread of dawn become
distinct and we break the fast as soon as
the sun sets
preferably sooner than later but soon doesn't mean the moment it
disappears I have to grab something
can be a minute can be two minutes can be five minutes even some even
waited till after maghrib Salah that did Maghreb then broke the
fence, but the Prophet sallallahu Sallam told us that it is better
to break the fast as soon sooner than later. And that also
distinguishes us from people of the Book who used to wait till
night game now okay they have long fast okay, so we distinguished by
doing that as soon as you know
sun has set you may break the fast even though it's light outside you
don't have to wait for darkness
now what breaks the fast what voids the fast
gummy
eating suppose you forgotten you ate does it break your fast then
please qualify? Yes purposeful or deliberately eating or drinking.
Allah is merciful suppose you're hungry. You saw a cookie and you
ate it and halfway through your this Ramadan. Now what should you
do finish the cookie or what? No, don't finish the cookie please.
For whatever reason about spirit outrun some out you're still good.
Suppose you don't remember till you finish the whole cookie and
half hour later oh my god, I was fasting. Consider that what
Allah fed you as well. Masala Lawson, continue fasting I love
value in your fast because out of forgetfulness.
Allah is Most Merciful is such a flexible Dean you know such a
flexible day.
So, deliberate eating, deliberate
drinking, and it is said deliberate, intimate relationship
between husband and wife, of course, was we don't we refrain
from intimacy in during the time of fasting are interesting things
that it says deliberate tonight, ordered about it. I said,
How can somebody
have intimacy when they're fasting? And they forget about it.
But Allah evil permits that.
Did you forgot?
Can it happen? I guess it can happen to some people. This is
even that is
because you know what happens if you do it deliberately? We'll come
to that.
All right.
What else Brexit if you deliberately vomit, okay, if you
just vomit because you're sick, no problem.
And of course, for our sisters, if the period starts, whether it's
halfway whether it's five minutes before Iftar unluckily, if it
starts at that time, that fast ends right there and has to be
made.
And that's also for
our mothers who have just given her delivered, which is called
postnatal bleeding. And for people who are receiving IV nutrition,
just get a flu shot that doesn't break it. IV nutrition, something
fluids and all are being given that breaks your fast.
Now there are certain
as we said, it's forth. But for some people, fasting is not just
permitted to skip it, but they're forbidden to fast Who are they?
Anybody know?
menstruating women and women with postnatal bleeding, they are not
allowed to fast.
It's not just that they may not they are not allowed.
And as we said, there are certain acts that degrade the value of the
fast such as backbiting slander, lying, looking at things that we
shouldn't hear anything, music but terrible, you know, all of those
things. None of those things you should be doing okay? Because they
degrade your fast. What is permissible
Can you rinse your mouth?
Can you use a tooth stick? Can you bed?
Can you put eyedrops?
Can you oil and perfume yourself?
Yes. But you might read somewhere that some people say no perfume is
not. There's no basis for that.
Because otherwise you pass by a kitchen.
You smell food? That's like perfume.
Yeah. Does that break your fast? No, it doesn't. So don't
get too strict about these things and
and who is given the concession or allowance to not fast?
When we say this obligation, and may say the opposite, who is
forbidden to fast, but there are some people who Allah says, you
are. You may not fast who are those? So
if you are sick, and if you're not just elderly, I'm elderly.
You're also
what is elderly? Who's not able, who's old enough that it would be
harmful for them, right?
Who else? Suppose you're walking to Timbuktu?
Travelers who it would be difficult, okay? Especially in
those times, but today, and the distance was about 55 miles.
So you get in your car air conditioning, you drive two
boosters, I don't have to fast.
Technically, you have met a 55 mile limit.
It takes you in an air conditioned car one less than an hour to get
there. Do you really feel that fatigue and hardship of travel?
And you won't have to make that up anywhere afterwards? So why not?
So I'm traveling to Europe.
Please fast. Although you're permitted not why? First of all,
the fast is going to be much shorter, because you're going that
way number two, sitting comfortably in an airplane.
However, if you feel arch have to fast, but you will have to make
those up later. Okay? Pregnant women, they may 1 Or they may not
fast if they feel it's going to harm them or going to harm their
baby, they don't have to fast nursing mothers, they may fast or
they may choose not to fast.
And of course we said old and feeble. So that's one
now we'll talk about if you missed a fast because you were traveling
or you had your period, or you were sick at the time and you
missed say five fast what do you do about it?
You have to make it up it's called Al Qaeda How do you make it up and
when do you make it up
you can make it up any time before next Ramadan, our Wuthering
Heights are the Alana on how we used to wait till next sharp and
to make them up but isn't recommended to do that. We don't
know if we live that long, we still have that. So the sooner you
make it up, the better it is. So do you have to make up all five in
one row
you can find five fast if you want or you can break them up
every other day once a week once a month
in any order so you have to make who has to make those up if you
left it because you were traveling or you missed it because of your
period or because you were sick for a period of time you make
those up okay
there's another fast sometimes it's outside of Ramadan, I'm just
putting it out there sometimes people take an oath it's called
another that if such and such things if I as my exam I'm going
too fast.
That's an obligatory fast you put an obligation on yourself.
Therefore you have to do that. In fact, this is one of the
conditions if you die before fulfilling that one fast your
error should make it
like your child or your brother or anybody else. So let's say you
miss a fast and you have to make if you don't make it up if you
don't get the chance to is that considered a dead? Yes. It because
it was a first it's a debt in Islam. So if it's a debt of
Ramadan
Okay, suppose
I miss three Ramadan fast for some reason, which I had to I had to do
and I did.
The Prophet sallallahu alayhi salam said Iran had this. It's a
debt owed to you so my son shouldn't make those up. But there
is a difference of opinion on this. Some scholars have said that
you can do
feed the poor and stuff. Okay, which is called Feed the
compensation. So suppose a old person who was so feeble oh so
sick, who's got such bad diabetes that they can fast?
They can fast how is he going to ever make it up? So for this
person Yes.
Donation
the donation is not really any donation, it's feeding a poor
person, the same as you would for you can call it a donation, but it
is it's called Video recompense in exchange, what you would have
eaten for that day you feed a person. So yes, that's how you
make it up. Then there are some minimum requirements, it's like,
two hands of grain worth, or dates or raisins, different things, or
food.
And this would be for somebody who is chronically sick, who cannot
make up
a person. Now, the issue is, suppose you missed it because of
pregnancy? Should you make that up? Or should you give a video The
Scholars say you can make that you can do that with a video by
feeding people. Similarly, if you were nursing, the same thing
applies. If you were afraid that by while you're nursing, you
shouldn't feed anybody or you shouldn't pass because it would
harm you or your infant. You do not have to make that up you just
give a few do you feed a poor person average meal okay. We
already talked about little Khedira special night of extra
worship and all we talked about taraweeh every night after after
Isha, there are extra tarawih whether you attend eight, whether
20 Whatever.
And then we have at the end of Ramadan, we have it you don't fit.
And there is something called the cattle fitter, which is
money or food to be given to who it's like one sow again of barley
or, or dates, raisins, or any any flower to a household that has
nothing. And who is it do on every member in your family?
Even if it's a newborn? So if I have five people living in my
house, suppose I have two servants living in my house, then the
counterfeiter is due on seven people, everyone.
What is it worth of that the worth of that in today's about 10 $12
per person. And the best time to give it is one or two days before
it will fit so that those poor people will have something to
celebrate for either. It's considered micro dislike to give
it early in Ramadan. So let me just do it early because they use
it and finish it. You want them to rejoice and enjoy Ramadan eid, so
you just give them a day or two ahead.
Support and what it also does is it is it sort of
removes
from you the mistakes you made. It's sort of a purification of
your fasting to make it more acceptable. Because we make
mistakes you lose talk this stat and all in recent speech through
the counterfeiter cola purifies the fastest and makes it accepted.
And it is the fault it's not just oh, I'll give and it is the fault
before Salado Lee. That's the last moment after that it becomes
general charity.
So please give it a day or two before or at least if you are
going to wait before you start the Serato eat
for the Gulf
that's why it's pref page should be given now that's the whole
problem is then you just put it in a box for the masjid and the
masjid will distributed to three now that's not ideal. Okay, it
should be given and it's preferable to seek people who need
this and one delivered yourself
and don't deliver it to them as a favor because they're doing your
favor by accepting it so that your fast will be accepted okay. So,
find out the refugees needy people, this anyone you go and
give them that.
So again in summary,
Ramadan is coming. It is a means to fill our tanks of Taqwa of God
consciousness, of humility of chakra being grateful to Allah
subhanaw taala for the number of eating and drinking and
companionship and our spouses and all of that
and make sure that we take enough enough of these gifts specially
have Taqwa to last still next Ramadan if Allah gives us that
life
because after Ramadan, the shayateen the evil gents are let
loose and they come attacking. You need to have that Taqwa to resist
that. And the taqwa helps us to deal with the challenges and
difficulties that life will bring because our life on Earth is meant
to be difficulties and challenges within ourselves, our families,
our community, the ummah. patience and endurance. This is what we I
learned patience, I learned tolerance, I learned perseverance
and Ramadan, I practice it the rest of the month. I learn
discipline, orderliness in my life, and that's how it should be.
And Ramadan should help purify us from our Lord desire, desires and
make us better individuals. Everybody should see this
something has changed, something has changed a better community, a
better family, a better nation, a better Oma. It should you should
feel the effect of Ramadan and softening of the hearts and
feeling a sense of closeness to Allah subhanaw taala. So we make
dua to Allah subhanaw taala to help us reach this month of
Ramadan and grant us all of its blessings in its true sense. And
to make it a means of a pleasure of Allah subhanaw taala that we
fast with sincerity with the class with SIPOC with truthfulness,
seeking the bounty of Allah subhanaw taala and don't forget
each other. Don't forget me in your doors in Ramadan. And if
there are any questions now we can open that up.
