Salam Alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh
Bismillah Alhamdulillah wa Salatu was Salam ala Rasulillah while
earlier he was so happy woman, Allah
Allah mufti, my Samia alumina lithic Rick,
Oh Allah, open the hearing channels of our hearts, to your
remembrance and to your words
and allow them to have an impact on our hearts and on our lives
on our actions and make this encounter weighty on the scales on
the Day of Judgment. I mean,
my dear brothers and sisters, there was a time when people
traveled on foot, and on Camelback
for one Hadith,
from Damascus, to Medina, from Baghdad to Mecca,
for one
Hadith one saying of the Prophet salallahu Salam.
And that's why they had value for that.
Because all the effort that was required
to gain that knowledge. Today, we are all sitting in our homes
confined by the RNA strands of COVID virus in our own homes. And
yet,
the knowledge of our deen is coming into our living rooms and
into our bedrooms.
While we thank Allah subhanaw taala for this namah and it is
indeed Annamma blessings, a blessing. But we must remember
that sometimes when knowledge comes to us easily we don't have
the value for it. So we ask Allah subhanaw taala to
put in our hearts value, and Alima
an honor for what we are going to be discussing today. Of his words,
I mean,
the surah we are going to be talking about today is surah
number 93 Surah of the heart.
And this, again, is an early McCann surah. Some say around
seven or so in order of revelation.
And
the environment, as we've talked about, is one of hostility, of
resistance of persecution of ridicule.
Also Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi salam is facing a lot of
challenges and opposition, and his companions, who have accepted
Islam who are few in number are going through the same.
Some have said that this was the first Surah that was revealed
completely at one time from the beginning to the end, whereas some
other opinions are that it was Surah Al Fatiha.
So as you know, once they were Hey, the revelation started, or
Surah, Allah salAllahu Alaihe Salam
had that encounter, which was an overwhelming encounter, and
it shook him.
And then after a period of time, as you know,
there was a gap in Revelation.
So in that environment,
the way the revelation was a source, from which Rasulullah
sallallahu Sallam and his companions derived strength to be
steadfast against the unbelievers who were rejecting and ridiculing
him and his message, obstructing his message, and directing a
wicked vile attack against the prophets message Salallahu Alaihe
Salam, and the fate that he preached.
So when there was this gap in Revelation that Angel Gabriel
Jibreel la Salam did not come down. And there are variations as
to how long this period was, some say it was 12 days and there are
other narrations to as many as 50 days. So there was a substantial
period of time where no revelation came. So the Quraysh of Maccha
they started to double up on the
ridicule of the Prophet salallahu alayhi salam sang loudly specially
in His presence. His Lord has rejected and abandoned him, and he
must hate him because he is unworthy and things like that. And
at the same time, the Prophet salallahu Alaihe Salam also became
sick and he missed his tahajjud Salah at the Haram which he used
to do, used to go in the night and pray at the Haram near the Kaaba.
And when the wife of Abu Lahab, whose name you will remember is
Uma Jamil Ben Taub saw this, she came by and saw the Prophet
salallahu Alaihe Salam and said, Oh, Mohamed, your Satan has
forsaken you and hates you.
SallAllahu Lucilla.
Of course, the Prophet salallahu Alaihe. Salam is in his human
manifestation on this earth.
And it is part of his humanity, to feel hurt, to feel down especially
in this kind of a hostile environment, especially when the
strength that again from Revelation had stopped coming.
So when he developed these feelings,
Allah subhanaw taala, in response, dedicated this entire Surah to the
Prophet sallallahu, Silla, out of his special loving mercy for
Rasulullah Salallahu Salam, as a consolation from his Lord, a
message of tenderness, of comfort, reassurance and hope, which floods
his heart like a river and brings relief to his restless soul with
tranquility and contentment, and a joy that suits the pain of
suffering heart SallAllahu sallam, and the surah also generated hope,
because of a promise of removal of hardship for him, and generates
contentment with the Divine Decree.
So with that background, keeping that in mind, think of this
environment Think of what the Prophet salallahu Alaihe Salam is
going through, think of all this ridicule. Here comes revelation,
what Doha will lelee either serger now when dakara Buka wema Kala,
while earthhero to Hiuen, laka minute Gula, they're going to stop
them.
Allah subhanaw taala starts the surah with a custom an oath that
we've talked about that there are lots of Surahs in the Macan period
that starts with a person an oath.
And we don't see this in the medina sutras.
And the purpose of this oath is to stress and bring our attention to
something very, very important. So Allah subhanaw taala starts this
surah by saying, what the HA will lelee either soldier,
Allah swears by the light of the morning, hours, the brightness
that the morning hours brings.
Another Allah subhanaw taala says, well, lelee and I swear by the
night, either soldier soldier comes from soldier, which means
second means peace and stillness. So Allah says, I swear by the
light of the morning, and it's brightness, and by the night when
it is still and dark.
Some have said that, from the HA you can derive also, that perhaps
Allah subhanaw taala is swearing on more than just the morning
light, because what does the morning light do?
It lights up everything, all the creation that becomes visible by
the morning light that Allah is swearing by all of that. And some
of them have said that perhaps this also includes the salah to
Doha, which is the late morning prayer that we do, which is a from
the Nova field or extra Sillas.
And Allah subhanaw taala says, and I swear by the night when it is
dark, and still in a state of Sakina tranquillity
and that's especially when the night is first coming in, and also
before it leaves in the late hours of the night. So these two times
are most conducive to clarity when the human soul is best able to
communicate with the universe by reflection, and with its creator.
And this, as you remember in Surah, Muzammil Allah subhanaw
taala tells the Prophet salallahu Salam, Kumi Leila Illa kalila Stan
part of the night and elsewhere he says, because in the night, your
recitation is clear, your understanding is clear. So this is
a special time. And it also is indicative of a relationship
between the natural phenomena such as the night and human feelings.
And we experienced that all the time. For example, we talk about
spring, it gives you a sense of elation and joy. We have certain
emotions on damp, dreary days where the days are very short, you
feel somewhat down and you have the winter blues. So there are
relationship between human feelings and natural phenomena in
the universe.
Some have said that what can also be meant by this and Allah knows
best of the HA the light within the heart of those who know what I
call the iPhone who know Allah subhanaw taala as best as he can
be known, and the darkness the night is the hearts of the
disbelievers.
And if you indulge me a little bit, I was reflecting on it. It
can also mean perhaps, and this is I haven't read it. So don't quote
this, that it could be an author on the Prophet sallallahu alayhi
salam himself by saying what Doha by the brightness and nor of your
noble countenance of your face, yeah, Muhammad salallahu Salam,
and the darkness that like the night of his black tresses, his
hair, the shining long hair that he had, that went all the way to
his noble and wide shoulders. Salatu Salam, but this is just a
reflection. So don't take that as being factual. So Allah subhanaw
taala swears what the HA? Well, Layli either serger now comes what
is called the Jawaban Kasam. Why is this oath being taken? Allah
subhanaw taala is addressing the Prophet salallahu Alaihe Salam,
saying, man, what that Arca rabuka will map Allah,
your Lord, or Buka.
Now what Docker what Docker comes from what that means to say
farewell, or Derrida means to Taraka to leave off to put down
your Lord has not forsaken you. He has not left you he has not
abandoned you. This is Allah has taken an oath. Well man color
color means to despise something to detest something because it's
lowly to hate something. Allah subhanaw taala is swearing
to the Prophet sallallahu Sallam on oath, that no Muhammad
sallallahu alayhi salam, your Lord has not forsaken you just because
he has not come down and he does not hate you.
Now, the style in which Allah subhanaw taala reveals this is he
is taking an oath to deny something.
I swear it is not this. This is one eloquent style of the Quran of
affirming affirming the opposite affirmation means this is I swear
it's not this which means it is the opposite means in this case,
Allah has always loved you, above all his creation.
You have the most ennobled and coveted status with him. From
before you were even brought into this four dimensional world of
your human reality, even before Adam was created as Rasulullah
sallallahu alayhi salam said, going to Debian will add them
obeying a rule. Well just said that I was a prophet, even before
while Adam was still between his role his soul and his body before
creation of human beings I was an OB. So that was his heavenly happy
guy, his reality before creation. And now in this creation, Allah
subhanaw taala has also given him a special status, which will
continue even while he was alive. It continues in his own mind in
the world while he is gone. It is in his buddy Zach, and especially
in the ACA where he is given the most special of stations
MACOM and Muhammad which is reserved for a surah Allah
salAllahu Salam. So Allah subhanaw taala is saying that
the pause in the lottery is only out of his Hekima out of the
wisdom, Allah subhanaw taala had some wisdom behind it. And that's
why
There was a pause,
just one second
then Allah subhanaw taala says,
well akhira to Hyrule laka minute Gula, well, Accra to, indeed,
the akhirah,
the life that is to come, or the hereafter, Pharaoh laka will be
better for you mineral Gula, then the first which is your present
life in this world that has gone by. So Allah subhanaw taala is
saying,
Indeed, your life to come, is going to be better than what's
gone by. Now.
In the Arabic This starts with, well accurate or not, it doesn't
say I'll say that lamb that proceeds is one of two situations,
it's called lamb with Toki. It means to stress something
emphasize of emphasis. Allah is saying, Indeed, surely, the life
to come in the hereafter will be better. There is another lamb,
which is called Lamb will custom.
If it is that, then this would be meant as indeed, I swear, Allah is
saying that your accuracy is going to be better than what has gone
by. So this
factually is a guarantee and reassurance that applies to every
future situation in the dunya and akhira. For Rasulullah Salallahu
Salam,
Allah subhanaw taala is saying to him Salallahu Alaihe Salam, that
he
was Azerbaijan is saving for you, oh, Muhammad salallahu Alaihe
Salam, what will satisfy you in your mission is your difficult
path and bring about the victory of your message, vindicating the
truth, that you advocate of Islam. So this special favor and elevated
status will be continuous going forward.
In this dunya, after you live in the Barsuk, and especially in the
Sahara, and on the Day of Judgment, and we'll talk about
that, towards the end of the surah.
There is also another lesson in this for us, that there will be
difficult times and good times, even Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi
salam went through difficulties. So no matter how wonderful your
dunya or my dunya is, it will never be perfect. It will always
be tempered with murkiness with periods of darkness of difficulty
of disappointment, whether it's health, whether it's economic,
whether it's psychological, whether it's spiritual, ups and
downs, ups and downs, there will always be those. And perhaps the
wisdom of Allah subhanaw taala in this is so that, sometimes when we
get hurt by the dunya, then we withdraw from it, and we don't
become overly attached to the dunya. So that it's not going to
be very difficult for us when it's time for us to leave. So this is
another way of looking at it. Whereas in the Accra, in the Jana,
which is infinite, every second or every nanosecond is going to be
something new, different, more beautiful, more pleasing, more
satisfying, more amazing, always changing constantly, there is no
boredom, from one moment to another things will change for the
better. And there is no end to how much they can get better, because
Jana is infinite. And it is never ending. And it is eternal in its
nature. And therefore that's where there is no ups and downs. It's
just up and up and up.
Now, people who want their paradise here who want it all here
will never be satisfied, because that's the nature of the dunya. No
matter what you have, you will be hit by something, or health issue,
a virus economic downturn, no matter what you have.
And people who really want it all here will therefore step on the
rights of others to get ahead and want to greedily have more and
more for themselves, whether as individuals or as nations at the
expense of others. And therefore we should not be in that race, and
we should focus on akhira the hereafter as our goal.
The Prophet salallahu Alaihe Salam lived a very simple life and we
have many narration
One of which is that one time he was resting and used to rests on a
little mat. And when he sat up made of dead leaves,
it had marks left marks on his normal back of the pattern of the
dead leaves. So some of his companions who saw this, they
started crying and they loved him so much. They said, Yasser Allah,
you know, the kings of Persia and and Rome have so much, why don't
you ask Allah for something? And the Prophet salallahu Alaihe Salam
said, What do I have to do with this? Dunya? In other words, it's
worthless, what am I going to ask Allah for? And then he said in
another narration, he said my example, in this dunya is like the
parable of a rider who comes to a tree and rest in its shade for a
while. Then he passes on and leaves it. He said, That's my
relationship with the dunya.
If you keep that relationship, you would never violate the rights of
anyone else.
Then Allah subhanaw taala says, and this is so beautiful, he says
well as sofa, your T Cal rabuka federal law.
And indeed, verily sofa soon in the near future, not in the
immediate future so far as opposed to serve your Tikka rabuka Your
Lord will attack will give you will bestow on you something,
what's he going to be strong on you. This is a comprehensive
phrase Allah subhanaw taala says, For Tyrell da means he will give
you that with which you will be pleased. It's an open promise,
that which will you you will be pleased.
Now, if we look at
the fulfillment of this promise in this dunya Allah subhanaw taala
kept raising the status of Rasulullah sallallaahu Salam
constantly in this dunya spiritually as a leader and give
him support and victory to his message, and will raise his status
Dilys pleased in the hereafter granting him shefa which is the
intercession on the day of judgment that he as he said,
salallahu Alaihe Salam, the banner of hamlet of Allah you will be
given the, the banner of hamlet of Allah as the leader of humanity on
the Day of Judgment, that the gates of Jannah will not be open
till Rasulullah sallallahu Sallam comes there, and that he has been
given the catheter, that special River and the how, and that Allah
subhanaw taala will elevate him to a station that no one has been
elevated which is called MACOM and machmood.
The praise worthy station
and beyond that, everything else that we have no idea. So this is
what Allah subhanaw taala promised
to give Rasulullah sallallahu this and we said, I will continue to
give you till you are pleased. Now in this in his dunya we have
defined his worldly life. Salallahu Alaihe Salam, Allah
subhanaw taala gave him the best of characters. That's a gift from
Allah.
As we've we read in Surah noon well column in we're in NACA
Allah, Allah Hola, Kennedy, that's a gift from Allah. Give him the
best of deeds, enabled by Allah subhanaw taala Allah subhanaw
taala give him the gift of facilitating the spread of Islam,
all over the earth. The Prophet salallahu alayhi salam early on in
his prophethood when there were few Muslims and they were being
persecuted he said that my then my Deen of Islam will go wherever in
one narration wherever the night goes. In another narration he said
to every island, my dean will go. Now you look at every island from
Fiji to Hawaii to Alaska to anywhere else. Islam.
In another narration, he said, and my dean will enter every household
whether it's made of skin or brick, to either elevate the
people who accept the message, or to humiliate them those who
rejected
by learn all of this to change myself not to change others, we
remind others but the first person that needs the reminder is me. I
learn not to change the world outside, but I learn to change my
inner world. If I do that, then
I see everything that happens around no matter what catastrophe
comes like we are in, in a different light with the lens of a
collarbone Salim a heart, that's a piece that's tranquil, that has
tawakkul absolute trust and knows that whatever is going to come
here is going to be better than Allah what is best. So may Allah
subhanaw taala also
give us this level of strength and your pain and tobacco and give us
those actions that pleases Him. Continue to bless us with His
favors. And help us to actualize, internalize and reflect on these
beautiful words and walk
in the footsteps of Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihe Salam of what he
was going through what this surah meant to him.
And then when we do that, naturally we will say, Allahu
Akbar. And Allah, of course is Akbar.
We ask Allah subhanaw taala to accept this from us and to
increase our help love for Allah subhanaw taala and His Messenger
sallallahu alayhi wa sallam and his noble family and his
descendants and love for this Deen in the love for the amount of
Rasul Allah Subhanallah Sinha
of whom he wouldn't be satisfied if even one was ingen
some Allah subhanaw taala put that love and concern in us. May Allah
subhanaw taala bless you all keep you all safe in sha Allah.
And
we will talk about any questions and clarifications
