In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious,
the Most Merciful.
All praise is due to Allah, Lord of
the worlds.
And peace and blessings be upon His Honourable
Prophet Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah, peace and
blessings be upon him and upon his family
and his companions.
Peace and blessings be upon you.
My brothers and sisters, we are living in
difficult times.
And so, sometimes the question comes in the
mind, why all this difficulty?
Why are we having the difficulty?
Why is there difficulty in the world?
Why is there suffering?
Why is this happening here?
Why is that happening there?
And so on and so on.
I want to ask you to think about
this and I think about myself.
What is it that Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta
'ala told us that He wants for us?
Allah told us that He wants something for
us and He does not want something for
us.
What did He say Allah wants what?
Allah wants ease for you and He does
not want hardship for you.
In the Ayahs related to fasting, and of
course it applies to everything else in life,
Allah said, Allah wants for you ease.
Allah does not want for you difficulty.
Right?
Then why is there difficulty?
If Allah Himself is saying, I want for
you ease, I do not want for you
difficulty, then why is there difficulty?
Because difficulty is there, we can't say there
is no difficulty.
And difficulty comes, Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala
again has told us in the Quran, He
told us why difficulty comes and in that
also there is khair from Allah Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala.
There is the mercy of Allah, even in
the difficulty.
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala told us in
Surah Ar-Rum, Allah
said the difficulties, trials, tribulations, calamities, what not
which you see on the seas and the
land, Barri ul-Bahar, on the land of
the sea, are because of what your hands
have earned.
It is what the hands of human beings,
of people have earned.
And Allah is not leaving it there.
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala is saying, Now
Allah is saying that Allah had and has
the capacity even with that to protect you
from this and not allow the difficulty to
affect you.
But no, Allah allows some of it.
Zaiqa, zaiqa is not to fill the belly,
zaiqa is just to taste.
So Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala says, Allah
allows you to taste some of that pain.
So that you return to Allah Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala.
So even in the difficulty which is coming,
when you face a difficulty, whether it is
individually, personally, or whether it is collectively, we
see the mercy of Allah.
Allah is saying that this difficulty, even though
it looks so bad here, it is much,
much, much less than the actual punishment for
what you are doing.
If that full punishment were to be sent
here, we would be finished.
But Allah is giving us an opportunity.
So the example of it is like, for
example, if a little child is in the
kitchen with the mother and he is trying
to grab the flame.
You know, little children, the fire is very
attractive, it is shining and jumping up and
down.
So the child is trying to grab the
flame, the mother keeps on pulling him back,
pulling him back.
When he doesn't listen, she slaps him on
the wrist.
The child starts crying, oh, my mother hurt
me.
Mother did not hurt you, the mother gave
you, a little touch of the actual pain.
If you put your hand in the fire,
then you know pain.
This is not pain, this is fun and
games, right?
If she did not do this, you would
put your hand in the fire, now you've
got a third degree burn, and that is
pain.
So to save you from that pain, the
mother is...
So this hitting of the mother is a
sign of the love of the mother.
It's not hatred, it is not punishment.
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala said, so there
is one reason.
One reason is we do things and we
create problems for ourselves.
And this is very easy to see.
Today we are living in a world where
we have created a system which is based
on predatory capitalism and the worship of the
nafs, worship of the self, consumerism.
Who is the most important person?
Me.
My purpose in life is to be happy.
Allah said, no, your purpose in life is
to make Allah happy, not yourself.
Who told you you should be happy?
But we made this system like this.
So I will do whatever I like.
And as long as I'm happy, Alhamdulillah, no
problem.
But what about your neighbour, what about other
person?
I don't care.
So naturally, the result of this system is
what we are seeing.
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala created us, sent
us to create a system where we look
at the happiness of others.
How can I make others happy?
So that's one reason.
Then Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala said another
reason.
You might say, well, you know, I am
living in a world or my life, for
example, has...
Alhamdulillah, we all make mistakes, but we can
say, I deliberately don't make mistakes.
I don't try to, you know, anger Allah.
And you might even go a step further
and say, well, what about the Anbiya alaihi
wa sallam?
Now, these are pure, they are sinless, but
they had difficulties in their lives.
Rasulullah sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said, Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala tested everyone and he tested
the Anbiya more than anybody else and he
tested me more than any of the Anbiya.
So why?
Now there, there is another reason.
And Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala mentioned that
also.
Allah said, Arabic
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala said that, surely
and definitely we will test you with, middle
khawf, with fear, insecurity, danger, with hunger, with
poverty, with loss of our wealth, loss
in the self and loss in the fruits
meaning children, meaning the fruits of our labour.
Five different things Allah said we will test
you with all of these, maybe some, maybe
all.
And then Allah said, There is Bashara, there
is good news, glad tidings for those people
who have sabar, who have patience.
When this happens they are not raving and
ranting, they are not crying, they are not
rolling, oh my god why only me, what
I, what it, no.
We ask Allah for help, we ask Allah
for strength, we say Allah help me, Allah
take me out of this trouble but we
don't complain.
For such people Allah said, and Allah said
these are the people when they are faced
with the musibah, when they are faced with
the loss, they say, We are from Allah
and to Allah is our return.
Now for these people Allah said, On these
people Allah is sending his blessings and his
salam and his mercy.
Allah said, I have said, from Allah.
And Allah is saying, these are the people
who are rightly guided.
Imagine you are getting a certificate from Allah
subhanahu wa ta'ala that you are rightly
guided.
Now what more can you ask?
Because this difficulty, no matter what the difficulty
is, will end.
It will end either by the difficulty going
away or by the person dying, one of
the two things.
And death is inevitable anyway.
Even if you had the most beautiful, the
most luxurious life on the earth, you will
still die.
So either way that is not something which
is not inevitable.
It is definitely, it would have happened.
But for that, Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
for the one who has, who bears it
with patience, with sabr, Allah is saying, I
will give you Jannah forever.
There is no end to that.
Allah is saying, this is the person who
is rightly guided.
So now you see this in the context
of Allah wants for us ease, not difficulty.
So Allah is saying that difficulty is happening
because of your own actions.
So first of all, if you corrected yourself,
the difficulty itself may not have been there.
And second thing is, wherever Allah tests, if
we behave with sabr, if we behave with
patience and dignity, Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
said, I will send my special blessing and
mercy on you.
So we ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
to help us to change and correct ourselves.
So the first thing to do, action points,
first thing to do is look at our
own lives and say, what in my life
is disobedience of Allah?
What in my life is going against the
sunnah of Rasulullah sallallahu alaihi wa sallam?
So self-correction, everything begins with ourself.
Our problem is most of the time we
are looking at other people.
See that one, see this one.
So and so is not coming to the
masjid.
Forget that.
But are you going to the masjid?
Are you spending some time every day reading
the Quran?
You know, these things, there should be no
need to even say.
I don't have to say, are you having
breakfast?
No need to say this, right?
So why should I have to say, are
you reading Quran every day?
That is more important than the breakfast.
So make this into a routine for yourself.
These are positive routines.
Praying salat, starting in the morning first, praying
tahajjud, at least two rakat.
Pray tahajjud, make dua.
Then read one juz of Quran.
Before Salatul Fajr.
Or as much as Allah subhanahu wa ta
'ala gives you the capacity.
Then come to the masjid for Salatul Fajr.
Pray Salatul Fajr by jama'at.
Any masjid.
I'm not saying come here, come anywhere.
Pray Salatul Fajr by jama'at.
So now you wake up, say hour, hour
and a half before Salatul Fajr time starts.
You pray two rakat of four or whatever
Allah gives you, tawfid of tahajjud, make lot
of dua.
Ask Allah.
At a time when Allah subhanahu wa ta
'ala said, ask me, I will give you.
And at that time you are sleeping.
Why?
As one of the shuyukh he said, really
tell me, are you really asking Allah?
Did you ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
to take away your difficulty?
Did you ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
to cure you when you were sick?
Did you ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
to fix your marriage which is on the
rocks?
Did you ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
to help you in the difficulties in your
life?
No, you didn't ask Allah subhanahu wa ta
'ala.
No, if you asked him, because Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala said, Ask me, I will
give you.
Kharib means I am here, you ask me,
I will give you.
So if you are saying you are asking
Allah and you did not get it, it
means you did not ask Allah.
Somewhere there is a problem with how you
are asking.
Ask Allah in the way to ask Allah,
beg Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
Ya Rabb, Ya Rabb, I am here.
Ya Rabb, you told me.
You said ask me, I am asking.
You said I will give, so give me.
At that minute Yusuf was making tawaf.
And he saw a man who was blind.
And he was hanging on to the kiswa
of the Kaaba.
He said, Ya Allah, Ya Allah, give me
sight, Ya Allah, give me sight.
Sajjaj stopped.
And he said, you are asking Allah sincerely?
The man said, yes.
Sajjaj called one of his soldiers.
He said, stand here.
He said, by tomorrow morning if you don't
get back your sight, cut off his head.
Chop his head off.
He went away.
Now this man started asking.
His tone changed.
He said, Ya Allah, I did not have
my sight.
Tomorrow morning I won't have my head also.
Because of Sajjaj.
Ya Allah, give my sight.
By the morning he got his sight.
Sajjaj gave him his sight.
How do you ask Allah?
Ask Allah with complete yaqeen.
Ya Rabb, you can give me, so give.
Ask Allah like your little child asks you
for something.
When they really want it.
They make your life miserable.
They scream and they roll on the floor.
No, give me, give, I have to.
Ask Allah like this.
I am not saying roll on the floor.
I am saying ask Allah Subhanahu wa ta
'ala.
Next thing you know, you are rolling on
the floor.
No, Sajjaj said I should roll on the
floor.
But ask Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala.
Allah is our man.
Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala endows us more
than our mothers.
Hey!
Allah says, Arabic Ask Allah.
Allah is yours, Allah is mine.
Ask Allah until we get complete yaqeen.
Allah will give.
Wallahi Allah will give.
Allah will give you from sources you cannot
imagine.
So, action steps.
Correct ourselves first.
Because this whole issue of giving from sources.
Arabic Taqwa.
First.
So, correct ourselves.
Correct our actions.
And then beg Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala.
And Wallahi.
Allah huwa shahid.
He will give.
And Allah will give from His power and
His glory and His majesty.
And Allah will give in a way when
we will be looking at Subhan Allah.
Ya Rabb, Ya Rabb.
Ask Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala to accept
all our du'as.
And to give from His generosity and grace
more than what we ask, Inshallah.
And to give that with khair and hafi
and barak.
Ask Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala to give
what we ask Him and to give more
from what He knows is best for us.
Ask Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala to forgive
us and forgive all our sins.
Ask Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala to grant
us the shade of His earth on the
day when there is no shade except His
shade.
Ask Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala to grant
us Jannatul Firdos al-Arabi ghayri hisab in
the company of Rasulullah Sallallahu alayhi wa alayhi
wasallam.
Wa sallallahu ala nabiyyil kareem wa ala alihi
wasallam.
Bi hurmati l-Habib, bi hurmati l-Fatiha.
