In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most
Merciful.
All praise is due to Allah, Lord of
the worlds.
And peace and blessings be upon the most
honored of Prophets and Messengers.
Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, peace and
blessings be upon him and his family and
companions.
Peace and blessings be upon him and his
family and companions.
And then, My brothers and sisters, Allah SWT
told us in the Qur'an, in Surah
Al-Isra, Recite your Book.
Allah is describing the situation and the condition
on the day when we will meet Allah.
And Allah is saying, Iqra kitabak.
Allah is not saying, Iqra kitab Allah.
Iqra kitabullah, no.
Iqra kitabak.
Read your book.
Iqra kitabak.
Kafa binafsikal yawm alaika hasiba.
This book is enough on this day as
a witness, as a hisab, as a account
taker for you.
What is that book?
Allah SWT said in Surah Al-Kahf, Ma
li hazal kitab.
People will say this.
Ma li hazal kitab?
La yughadiru saghiratun wala kabira illa ahfaha.
What kind of book is this?
Nothing is missing.
Everything is there.
Saghira wa kabira.
Everything is there.
From the smallest thing to the biggest thing.
What book is this?
This book is the book of our life.
Who is the author of that book?
The author of the book of Abu Sarmad
is Abu Sarmad.
The author of the book of Abu Mukbil
is Abu Mukbil.
The author of the book of Ammu is
Ammu.
Right?
We are the authors of our own books.
And that is why we will never be
able to deny anything in that book, because
we wrote it.
If Abu Sarmad writes something about me, I
can say, you know, I'm sorry, you were
mistaken.
Maybe you are my enemy, I don't know.
But I am writing about myself.
I always remind myself, and I remind you,
in today's world, remember, these ayaat came in
the 7th century.
Truly, iman bil ghayb was for the Sahaba.
For us, Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala has
made many of the things which were in
the ghayb for the Sahaba.
Allah has given us the mushahadah of that.
Allah has shown us those things.
I remember seeing a documentary of this person
who takes two phones.
One phone switches off completely, totally off.
And the other phone is on.
He puts both the phones in his pocket,
and he drives around Washington from this point
to that point, to that point, to that
point, to that point, multiple points, 20, 30
points.
And he comes back, and then they go
into the telephone company records, and they find
that the phone which was turned on tracked
all the places that the person went to.
He didn't use the phone anywhere.
He just went there.
The phone has the tracking of that.
But very interestingly, even the phone that was
switched off has tracked everything.
So what is so difficult to believe that
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala knows simultaneously what
we are doing?
If you go mentally, for example, into, say,
Verizon, you know, at the data center of
Verizon, or any of the great telephone companies,
for example, right?
And if you could be sitting there, what
would you see?
You would see multiple conversations happening between people
in multiple languages, in multiple locations in the
world.
Some of those conversations between two people who
are stationary, so that means somebody is in
a house or office or something in America,
the other person is also stationary in his
house, office, whatever it is in India.
But many conversations happening between people who are
in cars or who are, God knows, in
planes, and they are flying, which means that
their location is, every instant the location is
changing, yet the line does not break, the
call doesn't drop.
They have a conversation.
And in theory, every single conversation can be
recorded, yes?
Every single one of them.
There's no such thing as an unrecordable piece
of public communication.
If you don't want the communication to be
recorded, don't say it, period.
If you are going to say it, if
you are going to send it on an
email, if you are going to send it
on a chat message, if you are going
to send it on a phone, believe me,
it is recordable.
I'm not saying everything is actually recorded, maybe,
may not be, but if somebody wants to
record it, it is recordable.
The reason I'm saying that is, so therefore,
what is so difficult to believe that Allah
can do it?
I mean, we are the creatures of Allah,
and the phone and the technology and so
on is our creature, because we created it
with the help that Allah gave us.
If the creature can do something, the Creator
can do it.
Yet we live our lives the way we
live our life.
May Allah have mercy on us.
I remind myself and you that a time
will come when the door, one door will
open and another door will shut.
The door of the Akhirah will open and
the door of Tawbah will shut.
Because Rasulullah sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said, a
person's Tawbah is accepted until the Ghar Gharah,
until the breath comes in the throat.
Because when the breath comes in the throat,
it means the person is seeing Malakum Baut.
That door is open now.
The door to the Ghar Ghar is open.
The Ghar Ghar is no longer Ghar Ghar,
you are seeing it.
And when that door is opened, this door
is shut.
It's like, you know, like you go on
these, I used to go to the, I
used to give the Jummah in the prisons
here in Connecticut, about 20 years ago.
And one of the things that I always
remember is going into the prison, you go
through one door, a door behind you shuts.
Only then will the door in front of
you open.
They will never have, it is part of
the protocol, they will never have two doors
open at the same time.
So one door has to shut and then
the other door opens.
And you go in there and this one
shuts and the next one opens.
You have to go through two or three
depending on the security level of the prison.
Two or three levels of security.
And that's what happens.
When the door to the Akhira opens, the
door to the Duniya is finished.
And that's why Allah SWT said, Falawlaa idha
balaghatil hulkoom wa antum heena izin tanzuroon.
When the bread is stuck in the throat,
when the bread comes to the throat, you
are standing there and looking on.
You are standing there and looking on at
the person who is dying, you can't do
anything about it.
You cannot do anything about it.
Believe me, that day will come for me,
that day will come for you.
May Allah SWT cause that day to be
the best day of our lives.
We ask Allah SWT to save us from
the pain of Sakarat.
We ask Allah SWT to save us from
ourselves.
My brothers and sisters, it is very, very
important to wake up.
And when we say wake up, I mean
we have to get our priorities right.
And our priority has to be Allah and
the Deen of Allah before everything else.
And very simple, nobody has to be, I'm
not saying everyone has to be an Hafiz,
everybody has to be a Mufti, no.
Alhamdulillah if Allah opens those doors for you,
by all means.
But definitely every single one of us must
know, must be able to read the Quran
fluently, without making mistakes.
With the proper rules of Tajweed.
This is basic kindergarten, this is primary school.
I'm not talking about any high school.
This is basic primary kindergarten level education of
every Muslim.
May Allah have mercy on us, we are
people who are in their 40s and 50s
who cannot read the Quran.
It's a shameful thing.
It is very, very, very shameful.
So, number one, be able to read the
Quran al-Karim fluently with the rules of
Tajweed.
Number two, to be able to pray and
lead Salah, which means that we must know
at least some Quran, some of it, make
it enough Hifz to be able to recite
it properly, in our own Salah as well
as leading Salah.
And that also means know the rules of
Salah.
That is the reason why it's so important
to study Aqidah.
That's the reason it's so important to study
the Uzoor.
How do we pray?
Know that.
To know Halal and Haram.
What is Halal, what is Haram, be clear
about this.
Number four, to be able to do all
our Ibadat confidently, which includes Khutbatul Jummah.
Every Muslim male should be able to deliver
a decent Khutbah for Jummah.
I'm not talking about the lecture, I'm not
talking about the Muawiyah, the advice to people,
no.
At least the Masnoon Khutbah of the Prophet,
and know the rules of the Khutbah.
Khutbah is not simply standing on that mimbar
and saying whatever you like, no.
Know this, do it properly.
And the fifth one is the Hakamul Janazah,
the rules of the Janazah.
How painful it is, how shameful it is
that in this place I've seen so many
times, the Janazah comes, the son is there,
he does not know how to lead the
Janazah Salah.
It is the right of the son to
lead the Salahul Janazah.
Why don't you do it?
Because you don't know.
Why don't you know?
You are in your twenties, you have this
education, that education, this university, that university, you
don't have ten minutes to learn how to
lead Salahul Janazah.
Your father spent his whole life slogging his
butt off for you, and you cannot even
do ten minutes worth of service for him?
A stranger has to do it?
How to give ghusl?
How to lead the Salahul Janazah?
And what to do when you go to
the Khabar Lahariya?
All kinds of magic happens in the Khabar
Lahariya.
May Allah have mercy on us.
People do all sorts of stuff.
We have, Alhamdulillah, one of the simplest, most
beautiful, most easy way of doing everything, including
Janazah.
But no matter how simple, how easy it
is, something has to be learned, no?
It's easy, but it's not like, you know,
it won't just happen.
So please, you owe this to yourself.
We do not want to face a day
when we stand before Allah and we have
to answer, no.
You owe this to yourself.
We are here, I am here, Sheikh is
here, please come.
If you don't come, then I have completed
my duty.
Before Allah, I am witness that I have
offered.
If you don't come, it's your problem.
Please come, we will teach you.
But make sure that you put the knowledge
of Islam as number one priority in your
life.
After that comes everything else.
After that comes everything else.
As I told you, the knowledge of Islam
that I am putting before you is primary
school knowledge.
I am not asking you to memorize 100
Hadiths or memorize the Arbaeen of Imam Nawawi,
Rahmatullah Ali and so on, no.
By all means, do that and more.
Minimum primary school knowledge, if this much you
don't know, Subhanallah.
May Allah have mercy.
So please, let us be very sure, make
this Niyah, starting right now and all the
rest of it, Inshallah.
Very, very easy.
All you need to do is give maximum,
no matter how slow a learner you are,
it won't take you more than a week
on the outside to learn what I am
telling you.
Not even that much.
For most people it will take you two
days.
And that's for yourself.
We don't charge you a fee for this.
I am not saying come here and pay
me some money, nothing.
It's free.
Please come.
We ask Allah SWT to enable us to
set our priorities right.
We ask Allah to make it easy for
us.
We ask Allah SWT not to make our
own lives witness against us.
We ask Allah SWT to forgive us.
We ask Allah SWT to cover us with
His mercy.
We ask Allah SWT to open the doors
of His mercy and His Rahmah for us
and for all our parents and our children
and our spouses.
