In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious,
the Most Merciful.
All praise is due to Allah, Lord of
the worlds.
And peace and blessings be upon the honourable
Prophets and Messengers.
Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, peace and
blessings be upon him and his family.
And peace and blessings be upon him and
his family.
And after this, my brothers and sisters, we
have been speaking about the issue of our
connection with Allah, the Exalted.
Our relationship with Allah, the Exalted.
The relationship between us and our Lord, the
Lord of the worlds.
I want to remind you and myself that
all relationships have two things.
Duties and privileges.
All relationships have duties and
privileges.
And in order to obtain privileges, we must
fulfill our duties.
Every relationship, we have been talking about the
relationship between us and Allah, the Exalted.
And I remind myself and you that every
relationship has two things.
There is a duty and there is a
privilege.
There is a benefit.
There is a duty and there is a
benefit.
Al-wajib wa al-intiyaz, or fa'idah.
And these are related.
If you want the benefit, you must fulfill
the duty.
The two are related.
If you want the benefit, if you want
the privilege, you have to fulfill the duty.
If you don't fulfill the duty, you do
not get the privilege.
To just give you a couple of examples.
For example, we have a duty to our,
let me start not from the beginning, from
the middle, which is our job.
Because in this country at least the employment
is more important than everything else.
So we have an employee, you are employed
somewhere.
So your duty is to fulfill the terms
of the employment.
So you are supposed to start at this
time and at this time do this kind
of work and so on.
And the fa'idah, intiyaz of that is
that you get a salary and you get
whatever else you are supposed to get for
the job.
If you don't fulfill the wajib, the duty,
which is you don't go to work, you
go late, one day you go, one day
you don't go, then this is reflected directly
in your salary.
Salary will be cut.
Or if you play around too much, one
day they will say, salaam alaikum, good night.
Same thing in school, for example.
If you are studying in the school, your
duty is to get to the school on
time, do your work, coursework, what not, what
not.
And the benefit you get from the school
is you graduate and you have a certificate,
and certificate and entirely you will go to
university or whatever.
If you don't fulfill the duty, you don't
graduate, you don't get a certificate, even though
you spend, you can't say, well, you know,
after all, if you see the total amount
of time I came for so many days,
no.
You are supposed to fulfill the complete duty.
You can't say, well, I came for most
of the time I was here.
No, most of the time doesn't work.
It has to be the whole time.
Same way we have duty towards our parents.
You obey your parents, you listen to them,
you serve them, you are nice to them,
you are polite with them, you respect them
and so on and so forth, all of
which Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala has ordered
us to do.
And as a result of that, we have
the privilege of living in their house.
We have the privilege, at least while we
are young, that the father will pay my
bills.
And then the biggest privilege is that they
make dua for us.
There is nothing that is more valuable than
the dua of your father or your mother.
Among the duas which are accepted are the
duas of a parent for their child.
But listen carefully.
Many of the ulama, many of the muhaddithun
about this hadith where Rasulullah sallallahu alaihi wa
sallam said the dua of three people is
accepted.
One is the dua of the parent for
the child, the other one is the dua
of the oppressed against the oppressor and the
third is the dua of the traveller.
The muhaddithun have said that the dua of
the parent for the child really refers to
the dua of the parent against the child.
Dua of the parent against the child.
The child has troubled them so much and
given them so much pain that the parents
are saying, Ya Allah, relieve us, help us.
Allah will accept this dua.
But other muhaddithun, alhamdulillah, obviously both are true.
Others have said that it refers to any
dua, not only the dua against the child
but also the dua for the child, so
please make dua for your children because your
dua is the most valuable asset.
Rasulullah sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said, the mother
and the father are like two gates of
Jannah for the child.
When one of them dies, one gate shuts.
When the other one dies, the other gate
also shuts, closes.
But if you have been helping them, if
you have been good to them, if you
have been serving them and so on and
so forth, therefore that sadaqah will continue and
the gate will remain open for you but
otherwise the gate shuts when the parent has
died.
So it is very important.
So this is the duty and the wajib
or imtiaz, fayda of parent-child relationship.
Similarly, husband and wife, similarly the other side,
which is the child to the parent and
so on and so on and so on.
I don't have to give you more examples,
I'm sure this is clear.
This is the rule of this word.
Now, therefore, what is our rule with regard
to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala?
With Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and with
Rasulullah sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, these are the
two relationships, first of all to understand, these
are the two relationships that go with us
after our deaths.
Every other relationship finishes with death.
But there are two which don't finish, they
continue even after death and that is the
relationship of the abd and the rab, which
is the relationship with Allah subhanahu wa ta
'ala and the relationship of the ummati with
the Rasulullah sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, that these
two relationships remain with us right into the
akhira.
Now, what are the wajibat and what are
the imtiazat or the fawaid of these two
relationships?
The wajib of the relationship with Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala is the wajib of abudiyat,
of ibadah, of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
without shirk.
Sheikh Rizali, may Allah bless him, in the
second rakat, the ayat where Allah subhanahu wa
ta'ala said, Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
is the one who created you, who sustains
you, who will take your life, who will
bring you back to life and to Him
is your return.
Which of those who you make sharik with
Allah, which of those you join with Allah
does any of these things?
Nobody.
That is why the Quran says, كيف تكفرون
بالله؟
How is it possible that you deny Allah
subhanahu wa ta'ala?
كيف؟
How is it possible?
كيف ممكن؟
كيف تكفرون بالله؟
وَكُنتُمَ مُوَاتًا You were dead, you didn't exist.
أَلَا تَعَذَى الْإِنسَانِ حِنٌ مِّنَ الدَّهْرِ لَمْ يَكُنْ
شَيْئًا مَّذْكُورًا Has human being forgotten the fact
that there was a time when he was
not even a shaykh mentioned?
Not even, not only was he dead, he
was not even mentioned.
He did not exist.
Even his name didn't exist.
كيف تكفرون بالله؟
وَكُنتُمَ مُوَاتًا فَحْيَاكُمْ He gave you life.
ثُمَّ يُهِيطُكُمْ And He will take that life
away.
He will give you death.
ثُمَّ يُهِيطُكُمْ Again, He will bring you back
to life.
ثُمَّ إِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ And to Allah is your
return.
How do you deny this?
So the واجب لله تعالى, the duty towards
Allah is to worship Him without partners because
He has no partners and to worship Him
the way He asked us to worship, He
ordered us to worship Him, which is the
way of Rasulullah ﷺ.
The واجب إلى رسول الله ﷺ is to
obey Him and to make His اتباع.
اتعاد واتباع الرسول ﷺ To obey what He
told us to do and to make His
اتباع.
وَمَن يُطِعِ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ فَقَدْ فَازَ فَوْزَ نَازِبًا
That is the امتياز.
That is the فائضة of obedience and اتباع.
Of obedience, actually اتباع is a bigger فائضة.
Obedience is that you will have ultimate success.
فَقَدْ فَازَ فَوْزَ نَازِبًا Only that, of course,
you will succeed.
And the benefit of اتباع is قُلْ إِن
Allah subhanahu wa
ta'ala said, say to them, who claim
to love Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala, make
my اتباع and Allah will love you.
And Allah forgives all sins and Allah is
a غفور رحيم.
The most forgiving, most merciful.
To make اتباع, to emulate, to imitate the
Rasul alayhi salatu wa salam, the benefit of
that is that Allah will love us.
It is a benefit that cannot be described.
What is the meaning of Allah will love
us?
The benefit of itaat, the benefit of obedience
is that we get Jannah.
Faudhullah's name is Jannah.
Alhamdulillah, inshallah, we ask Allah for Jannah.
But the love of Allah, that Allah loves,
we love Allah and Allah loves us, this
is beyond Jannah.
Beyond Jannah, Allah loves us.
This is beyond Jannah.
So I remind myself and you, let us
think about this, let us reflect.
We may not have time to do this
or that, but we have time to reflect.
You're driving your car, you're going somewhere and
what not, think about these things.
Don't keep the radio running or something, some
noise, no.
Reflect and think.
I have duties and I have privileges.
My privilege as a Muslim is, Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala said, ادعوني استجب لكم.
My privilege as a Muslim is, I raise
my hand and say, Allah give me and
Allah will give me.
Allah said this, I'm not saying it.
It's not my opinion, this is Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala's karamah.
And I said, ask me, I will give
you.
But ask me is who?
Who should ask?
Somebody who disobeys Allah?
Somebody who does the opposite of everything Allah
told us to do?
No.
ادعوني هو, the one who obeys me.
He can ask me, I will give him.
But if you don't obey Allah subhanahu wa
ta'ala, if we do everything the opposite
of what Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala told
us to do, what Allah made halal, we
make haram, what Allah made haram, we make
halal, and we do this and that.
Death, this is a different story.
Because death, the wajibat are not being fulfilled.
You're breaking all the duties.
Then you say, Allah, Allah, Allah.
No.
That is why the hadith, we mentioned it
many, many times.
There's nothing new in this deen, so you
would hear the same thing many times, alhamdulillah.
Zikr, in the zikr of Tanformumineen, it's good
to have repetition and zikr.
The hadith where the man came and he
raised it, the man is covered with dust.
Yes, he's a traveller, he's travelled.
He's raising his hands, he says, Ya Rabb,
Ya Rabb.
So if you see the shakal, the outside,
everything points to somebody whose dua will be
accepted, because dua of the traveller is accepted.
Somebody who is full of dust and so
on, obviously he's worried and he's, you know,
somebody who's in trouble, Allah subhanahu wa ta
'ala helps.
And then he's asking Allah and he's raising
his hands.
He says, Ya Allah, Ya Allah.
He's not making shirk, think about this.
He's not standing at somebody's grave and saying,
Ya Sahibul Khabar.
No, he's saying, Ya Allah, Ya Allah.
But what did Nabi Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam
say?
He said, how can Allah subhanahu wa ta
'ala accept his dua when this man, his
food is haram, his earning is haram, his
clothes are haram.
He says, Ya Rabb, Ya Rabb, Allah will
not listen to him.
So conditions.
So I remember myself and you, let us
reflect and say, what is it that I
need to change in my life?
Because my brothers and sisters, believe me, we
have to wake up and make changes in
our lives.
Just today, one of our brothers came here
from Afghanistan.
His brother passed away, his brother is 40
years old, who died.
We don't own our time, because believe me,
nobody knows.
Nobody knows.
What we know is that one day we
will go.
So let us not wait for that time.
Let us do it now.
Reflect and think and then make whatever changes
we think we need to make.
If you have a doubt, go to somebody
who has knowledge, ask them, they will tell
you.
We ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to
fill our hearts with His knower and with
His hubb, and with the hubb of Rasulullah
sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, we ask Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala to make us obedient to
Him and to follow the sunnah of Rasulullah
sallallahu alaihi wa sallam.
We ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to
make us those with whom He is pleased
and is never displeased.
We ask Allah to give us Jannatul Firdaus,
Firdaus al-Anbiya, Ghair-e-Hisaab, and the
Rifaqah and the company of Rasulullah sallallahu alaihi
wa sallam.
We ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to
accept all our du'as, to give us
what we ask with khair and aafiyah, and
then to add to it from His generosity
and grace.
Wa sallallahu ala nabiyyil kareem wa ala alihi
wa sahbihi ajmain.
Bi hurmati l-Fatiha.
