I would just say a year is still
a really short amount of time.
Masha'Allah, Tabarak Allah, may Allah bless your
du'a with being answered in an even
better way than you're making it.
But when I was making du'a in
so many different instances of my life, I'm
gonna tell you one particular one.
It took eight years for that du'a
to be answered.
I would make du'a in every sajda,
every time it rained.
I would make du'a when I was
traveling, when I was fasting.
I would fast praying that this du'a
would be answered.
When I went for Umrah, I made du
'a in every single one, in tahajjud, in
every single one of the possible timings that...
Of course, du'a is always answered when
you are intentional and sincere and coming to
Allah, but there are extra answered times of
du'a.
And for one year after another, I didn't
see that du'a answered.
And in fact, I saw the opposite of
my du'a at times.
But eight years into making the same du
'a, all of a sudden, I remember I
was in my room, I got the answer.
And I went into sajda immediately.
And the reason I went into sajda bawling
was not actually specifically because my du'a
was answered, even though, of course, the gratitude
and relief of that overwhelmed me.
But it was because it took that moment
for me to look back at every single
time a door was closed for eight years
and to realize that Allah Subh'anaHu Wa
Ta-A'la knew my future and that
He closed the doors that would not have
answered this du'a in the best way
and in the best time for me so
that I could be in this moment, so
that He answered it in the best time
and in the best way.
And Imam al-Ghazali, he speaks about how
we have to train our souls to know
that if we were able to see the
future, we would not choose a different outcome
than what Allah chose for us.
He knows you better than you know you.
He knows your future and your hereafter better
than you do.
So if there is a delay, know that
every du'a you are making is still
a protection.
Maybe that car that almost hit you that
didn't was because of the du'a that
you made yesterday or a month ago or
six months ago.
Maybe the sickness that was shortened was because
of the du'a that you made.
Maybe someone receiving a blessed news in your
life, even though you didn't pray specifically for
that, was because of the du'a that
you made.
Allah answers every du'a either by removing
something harmful, by giving it to you in
the hereafter, by bringing it in a better
way than you could imagine or at a
different time.
When you are sincere and you turn to
Allah in du'a, He promises He's listening
and that He will answer you.
And I also promise you that there is
nothing sweeter than the desperation of those tears
when you go to Allah and you're calling
out from the cracks of your shattered heart.
Allah, the closest that you feel in those
moments, is a sweetness that you may miss.
So have faith.
Be confident that Allah will answer your du
'a in the best way.
