Maryam Amir – Two words

There was this man who, in his adult life, had never chosen to

pray, and then one day, he just had this thought, why don't I just

go, why don't I just go check it out? And this was a Friday, so he

walks in, and they were praying salatul jumara, and he goes and

looks for a place to sit. He's kind of like walking over people

because it was really crowded, and he's catching snippets from the

Imam, who was saying things like Kali Matan and habibatan and il

Rahman. And he's wondering what those words mean. So after the

khatwa, he goes to the Imam, and he's like, Excuse me, what were

you actually saying? And the Imam tells him, Oh, that's a Hadith of

the Prophet. Peace be upon him. Kali Matan,

two words, Hafi, Patani, alla Li San, they are light on the tongue.

The kelatani, filmi Zan, they're heavy on the scales. Habibi,

Tanni, ILA Rahman, they are beloved to the Most Merciful

Subhan Allah, He will be Hamdi. Subhan Allah alim, this man heard

this hadith, and he was so overcome with emotion, he went

home to his wife and kids and gathered them and said, Have you

not heard the Prophet sallallahu, alayhi wa sallam told us two

words. They are light on the tongue, heavy on the scales, and

beloved to the Most Merciful Subhanallah, he will be Hamdi

Subhanallah Ali. His whole life changed. He used to not really see

his family. He'd go to work after work, he'd spend hours at the

hookah cafe. He'd go home to sleep, not really spend much time

with his wife and kids and start the process over. But this hadith

changed his heart and his life. He instead started spending time with

his wife and his children. He would go to the masjid for his

prayers, He would go to work, and then he would do that cycle all

over again. And one day he got really, really sick. And when he

got sick, he asked for the Imam to come, the one who he had heard

those words from. So when the Imam came, this man was lying down in

his bed. He was very sick and couldn't get up. And he looked at

him and he said, Have you not heard the Prophet sallallahu?

Hafi fatanya, ali San

Tati, Latin, happy betani, ILA Rahman. A Subhanallah, Subhanallah

Ali, and

then he passed away. It

had only been a few months since he had gone to that masjid. And

that Imam in the story is the teacher of my teacher who told me

to share this story because you don't know what one Hadith or one

verse is going to strike your heart and make you want to change.

You may feel very far from Allah. Find one ayah, find one Vic one

type of form of remembrance of Allah, SubhanAllah, Wabi. Do it

every day and change.
