The woman Wallah. I'm not bad Salam alaykum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh.
Last week we touched upon the different kinds of hearts
and So, to recap
we mentioned basically three different kinds of hearts. So, who can
remind us of what those three were
okay
okay, you mentioned not the three kinds of hearts, but the three kinds of souls
Yes, so, we have the sound heart,
the Kolben Salim, and the dead heart and the diseased heart and we said, this corresponds to the different kinds of souls.
So, you have
the soul that is Mocha, inner, this corresponds to
the sound heart, you have the soul that is a little worm, which is the blaming heart and that corresponds with the diseased heart.
And then you have the soul which is
which one is
inclined to evil. Amara,
Amara be Su
and that corresponds to the dead hearts.
And towards the end of last
lecture, we mentioned some of the
some of the
characteristics
of the sound heart.
And so, the sound heart is the most important heart for us to focus on, because it is this heart that we all want to achieve to have.
And we mentioned Imola. You mentioned some
some signs of this heart.
And so he mentioned eight signs of the healthy sound heart. And that is what we concluded with
last week.
And so today we move on to talk about
something that is related to the healthy heart.
And this is something that we find in the Quran and the Sunnah, a lot of references made to it. And it is what is known as the tranquility and the bliss of the heart.
That the tranquility and the bliss of the heart, the heart being in a state of peace, in a state of tranquility.
And so throughout the Quran, we find Allah mentioning, the Sakina this tranquility, that he sends upon the hearts and so these are special hearts, that Allah subhanho wa Taala allows them to be in peace, no matter what situation they're in, no matter what difficulty they may be in. They are at peace, and they are in a state of tranquility.
So we'll talk about this and then we'll talk about some of the symptoms of a sick heart. So after that we'll move on to the diseased or the sick heart. So regarding the tranquility and the bliss of the heart, Allah subhanho wa Taala says
who already unzila saqi Netta ficolo mean iannelli as the do e man a ma Imani.
Who a lady and Zillah Sakina tough equilibrium. Nina Leah's de Dieu. Eman Amar Imani and this is one example
of how Allah talks about the Sakina of the heart, the tranquility of the heart and so Allah says here it is he Subhanahu wa Taala who sat down tranquillity into the hearts of the believers so that they would increase in Eman along with their present Eman, the Eman that they already had.
And this refers to when
the believers had faced off against
enemy
in the Battle of better
and so Allah subhanho wa Taala wanted to calm them down.
And so he said this tranquility and this peace
into their hearts.
And Allah subhanho wa Taala also mentioned this
in Surah, two, when talking about
the
the difficulty that the believers had faced, basically,
when they gave their allegiance to the Prophet salAllahu alayhi wasallam in a famous incident of a soldier, who they be
the pledge of who they via
and this is when basically the Muslims had left Medina
on their way to Mecca, with the intention of performing hombre.
And so,
Allah subhanho wa taala, revealed to His Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam
to basically
enter into a pledge with the co founder of Quraysh.
And not to proceed on to matter for their Onra.
And this is one of the incidents in which Allah subhanahu wa taala
had used to test the man of the believers.
And so what is it that
made the Sahaba to become who they were.
One of the things that allow them to reach the level that they had reached was their submission.
Their Tasleem
submission and surrender to Allah and His Messenger, no matter what the situation.
But how did they reach such a level? It was Allah subhanho wa taala, who, who basically made them go through a certain training in order for them to reach a state.
And one of those examples of that training was this huge incident.
And it was towards the end of the life of the prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam before the conquest of Mecca.
And so the Muslims had the upper hand
and they could have marched onwards to Mecca.
And
there was nothing to stop them. But it was from the wisdom of Allah, Allah subhanho wa Taala had something else in mind.
And so, you know, we're not going to get into the whole story that's,
you know, something that you study in the Sierra, the biography of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam.
But basically, the Companions, they complain to the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, and many of them even objected.
They objected, including some of the Greek Sahaba Ali Radi Allahu Han, when they were writing the pledge, and
the kuffaar of Quraysh when the processor said, Write Bismillah R Rahman r Rahim. They said, No, we don't recognize that Rahman and Rahim are the names of Allah.
When he said, right, Mohammed, messenger of Allah, they said, No, we don't recognize you as a messenger of Allah.
And so it was a huge test for the believers for the sahaba. Who said, No, we have to write this down. How could we basically, you know, step down from our basics and fundamentals. And so there was room for flexibility and Allah subhanho wa Taala was testing them testing their EMA in the end.
In the end, they submitted in the end, they submitted and they saw the fruits of that submission. Later on, and in this very Surah, so little fat, which is basically it means the conquest, Allah revealed the surah even before the conquest of Mecca, referring to the pledge of her Davia as a victory
as a victory, so don't look at it as a defeat, but look at it as a victory. Allah subhanho wa Taala says here regarding the believers, naka de robbery Allahu annual me Nina if you bear your own Athleta Shudra Allah has become pleased with the believers when they gave you pledge under the tree, and this is the tree of Hadiya. It's a place located basically today between Makkah and Jeddah.
And so, Allah says that he became pleased with the believers when they gave you pledge under the tree
Family Man if you could be him for NZ Elesa ke Netta ie him water the homestead. Hello Karina.
So Allah subhanho wa Taala says that he knew what was in their hearts of Eman of submission. And so he sat down tranquility upon them Sakina, tranquility and peace upon them and rewarded them with an imminent conquest. And so Sakina is basically
the tranquility and the peace that Allah subhanho wa Taala sends down
into the hearts of his believing servants,
especially when they are shaken
from something severely intense,
a frightening moment,
an intense situation.
So as a result, that servant of Allah does not become bothered by what he is afraid about. And he is basically given Iman, he's given Iman, and you'll clean
from Allah subhanahu wa.
And so that's why Allah subhanho wa Taala has mentioned in different places in the Quran, that he sends this tranquility upon His messenger and the believers at times of intense fear and worry, at times of intense fear, and worry.
And that's why this tranquility, this Sakina is something that you don't find with everyone.
In fact, the majority of people, when they're put in a very difficult situation, you start to panic, and he can't handle it.
And so it leads to depression, it leads to anxiety leads to all sorts of different things.
The final end result of it is suicide.
It is suicide.
And so that's why we need this tranquility. The Sakina is something that Allah subhanho wa Taala gives to whomever he wills, but it is especially exclusively for
for the messengers of Allah and their followers.
So we have many examples of this. We have many examples of this. We mentioned one example. During the Treaty of academia Allah explicitly mentioned this. Elsewhere we have
looking at the biography of the Prophet SAW Salem, we have the day of Hijra
when the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam sent out Sarah with Abu Bakr Radi Allahu Han.
And when they were basically in the cave
and Abu Bakr we all know his Eman.
His Eman was like
on comparable basically to the amount of anyone else from the companions.
And yet even he
was shaken when
the kuffaar of Quraysh
were at the doorstep of the KU
and so the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam had to calm him down and say
Lata isn't
in the wall, Hannah, Hannah,
do not be sad, do not grieve for indeed Allah is with us. Indeed, Allah is with us.
Also, we have during the Battle of who name.
The Battle of honeymoon was one of the leader battles.
He was after the conquest of Mecca.
And so
most of the Muslims had fled the battlefield.
Because many who partook in that battle, were those who had recently embraced Islam in MK after the conquest of Mk. And so their Eman was not really that strong.
So when they faced off against their enemy, they fled.
They didn't remain firm.
And so
only the prophets Allah Allahu alayhi wa sallam was left with a few among the companions. And it was these Chosen Few that Allah subhanho wa Taala sent his tranquility and his peace into their hearts. And this is what made them firm. Otherwise, they would have also have fled.
And so
this tranquility and this peace that Allah subhanho wa Taala sends in the hearts of the believers is something that basically
makes him to stand for,
in front of every difficulty
in the face of every difficult situation.
And so when we look at this concept of Sakina, tranquility of the heart, we find that it basically,
it gives the servant three things.
It gives him life for his heart.
It gives him a life for his heart. And through this life, the person he awakes, he awakens from heedlessness.
And he's given that spiritual energy
that is required basically to obey Allah subhanho wa taala.
And without it, a person is not able to be obedient to Allah in His commands.
And the life of the heart. This is something we already spoke about in detail.
The life of the heart, this is something we spoke about in detail. And we mentioned there it is basically,
life where the heart is gained through email.
It has gained through email. That's why in the Quran, Allah refers to
Eman and also the Quran as two things life and like
life
that basically causes the person to awaken
and light
with which he is guided.
And this brings us to the second thing. The second thing that is achieved through tranquility of the heart is light
that basically guides the heart
light that guides the heart. And so through this light, a person sees the truth as being truth.
And he sees falsehood as being false.
He's able to distinguish between good and bad.
between what is right and what is wrong.
And so many people, they're left in confusion.
They're left him confusion about many
things related to their beliefs.
And one of the reasons for that is that they don't have this light.
They don't have this light that Allah subhanahu Attallah gives to the believers.
Finally, the third thing that we gain through the Sakina of the heart is strength for the heart.
And so, through it, one gains the ability to overcome every single difficulty
to overcome one spiritual weakness.
And so enables a person to basically overcome the evil whims and inclinations of his soul.
And also the whisperings of shaitan
many people they
end up easily falling into the traps are shaytaan because they don't have the strength. The strength comes through this tranquillity that Allah sends in the hearts as we have seen, as we saw,
in the examples we mentioned, the Battle of quinine,
the pledge of who Davia, and many examples throughout history. Throughout history, we have many examples of this we have one example
of
a famous companion
by the name of rebel, bin Hamad.
And he was the one who was sent when the Muslims after the death of the Prophet salallahu Alaihe Salam by many years when they had reached the borders of the Persian,
the Persian nation and the Persian civilization.
And so the king of Persia, he had asked for the Muslims to send us your delegation.
And if you read that story, and see how the court of the king was decorated,
and
you know, the palace, and the luxuries of the dunya that they had,
and these companions coming from the deserts of Arabia with nothing.
If you were to just look at that, you would think that these people are more civilized.
And these people are backward. But then when you hear the dialogue that took place between the two
if you listen to that dialogue and read it,
it makes you to realize
that the Sahaba they were on something else
will rebel even hammer came in, he came in proud, he didn't feel any weakness.
And so when he was asked, what is it that brings you guys here, he responded firmly, that we have been sent
to bring people out from the darknesses of ignorance to the light of Islam.
From the narrowness of these false religions, to the vastness of Islam.
From the neurosis of the dunya, to the vastness of the era,
full of pride, he answered them, one question after the other.
And then at the end of it all, at the end of it all, even though the Persian army was way more advanced than them, he said,
that I'm only giving you three days.
And you only have three options.
Either accept Islam, and we'll leave you alone,
or
allow us to conquer you.
And you have to pay attacks. This is the jizya or be prepared to fight.
These are your three options, and I'm only giving you three days.
The point was, basically to show us the tranquility that was in his heart. If it was anyone else, he wouldn't even be able to stand a moment in the court of that King.
The end result of that story, I'm not going to mention the whole story. But basically, history recorded one of the one of the most fiercest battles that ever took place
in Islamic history, and that was the Battle of Yermak
where a few Muslims defeated and brought down the Persian army and the Persian civilization which had
which had basically
lasted for centuries.
Until this moment,
after that day, the Persian civilization came crumbling down and until today,
until today, it never roads.
And so this tranquility, the Sakina of the heart originates in the heart.
And it comes and it appears in a person's actions
in everything
and so people are at different levels, not everyone is at the same level.
Yes, we all have that Amen, that Allah subhanahu wa taala has guided us to
but after that there is this level of where Allah chooses to give you tranquility.
And this state of peace.
The highest, those who have this
those who have this at the highest level were the prophets and messengers.
So we have many examples of this besides the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam. And so we have Ibrahim alayhis salam
when he was thrown into the fire
and so Allah subhanho wa Tada
calmed him down
and placed this tranquility in his heart.
Also Musa alayhis salam when he faced off against the magician's,
Allah subhanho wa Taala granted him this tranquility
because if he did not have it, he would have shaken
and he would have been afraid and he was afraid. He was afraid to how am I going to face off against these people when I don't know anything about magic? By Allah subhanho wa Taala please start tranquillity in his heart and meet him to stand for
also we have Musa alayhis salam
when he through his staff, and it turned into a snake,
initially he was scared he was in what is this? But yeah, Allah subhanho wa Taala made him to calm down.
Please start tranquillity in his heart.
Again, Musa alayhis salam when he was in front of the sea.
And his own people said that it's the end of us.
In front of us is the sea. And behind us is, is our enemy. We have nowhere to go.
And Allah tells us they say this
said in Allah mudra Khun
that's it. They've they've they've captured us.
But what did Musa alayhis salam say? He said calla in Europe visa vie,
showing the tranquility that was in his heart and his firmness
and his certainty
that Allah subhanho wa Taala will save them. He said, No.
It's not the end of the story. I have my Arab who will guide me.
And so the sea parted, and he escaped.
And then as we mentioned, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam,
when he was in the cave, also the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, in the various battles,
the Battle of budder, when they were only 300, against the enemy, who was 1000, and Allah mentions in Surah, two and foul
the how he sent the angels to aid them, and also how he sent that Sakina in their hearts. Without that Sakina they wouldn't have been able to stand for, and also the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam in the Battle of Otto TuneIn, and all the other battles. And so one who is physically strong.
If he doesn't have the Sakina, in his heart, he'll come crashing down.
Whereas one who, even if he doesn't have that physical strength,
he'll be able to stand.
And this is what we've seen throughout history.
The famous example of that would be his Salam against, against who
against
the will that Islam against who
dilute Goliath
and Allah mentions this at the end or
towards the end of Squirtle, Bukhara.
And also the boy, we have the example of the boy in the story of
us hub.
How will oak dude
when
they had basically made a pit of fire,
for the believers to be thrown into it,
and he,
he allowed himself to sacrifice himself for them.
And we have many, many other stories and examples like this.
And so,
truth true strength is the strength of the heart.
true strength is the strength of the heart.
This the strength of the body is only subsequent
and that's why Allah subhanho wa Taala gives us this example in Surah TL and fell
for India coming Come meet a tomb saw Bureau to nearly boo me attain. This was during the Battle of budder. Allah says that if there are
100 among you who are steadfast
who are affirmed and steadfast, then they will be able to defeat 200
they'll easily be able to defeat 200.
But this is only with the help in the aid of Allah subhanho wa taala.
If the help in the aid of Allah is not there, then yes 200 will easily be able to defeat 100.
This is looking at it from the purely materialistic
point of view.
But if we factor in the aid of Allah subhanho wa taala.
Then it is through the aid and assistance of Allah subhanho wa Taala that a few have always been able to defeat many, that a few have always been able to defeat many.
And so these were examples of the prophets and the messengers. As for the as for the followers,
then basically
each of us get a share of that based on our iman and our yaki in Allah and the victory of Allah subhanho wa taala.
And the example we mentioned, we mentioned the example of the companions of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam.
And how, because of that steadfastness, the firmness that Allah had given to them, that they were able to defeat entire armies and civilizations
And that came through this tranquility that Allah puts in the hearts
and so what was the secret?
We can say what was basically the secret that helped them to gain this Sakina
we can say basically, it goes back to
their truthful intention.
It goes back to their truthful intention.
Allah subhanho wa Taala knew what was in their hearts.
And so, as a result, Allah gave them that tranquility.
And so, this truthful intention
is what basically
it means, it means it means basically three different things. First of all, it means the tranquility of the heart. Secondly, it means relief from every distress relief from every destress. And thirdly, it means achievement of one's goals.
It means achievement of your goals. You can never achieve your goals unless you have this tranquility. And so that's why Allah says for Holly Murphy Apollo be him
for Halima Matthew colluvial, Angela Sakina. I like him what I thought about him for 10 Caribbean,
Allah says that he knew what was in their hearts, as a result of him knowing what was in the hearts of this truthful intention. As a result of that, he said that Sakina into their hearts, and gave them an imminent victory. And so that's why those who do not receive this tranquility in their hearts,
you find them looking for
alternative ways, you find them looking for
alternative solutions, to achieve that tranquility.
This Sakina is something as we mentioned, that Allah doesn't give to everyone.
He gives it to you, based on the level of your Eman
and the level of your Yaqeen.
Not all of us are at that same level.
And so those who don't have this, especially the the non Muslims.
For them, it's completely missing their Eman. And so as a result, they're looking for that,
that tranquility in their hearts, but they can't find it. So where do they turn to, they turn to
the dunya
they turn to the dunya. And these temporary pleasures that gives them that Sakina for a few moments,
for a few moments. And that's why people who are depressed,
they turn to alcohol, or they turn to taking other substances
or they turn to other temporary pleasures that will give them
this tranquility, this peace for a certain amount of time.
for a certain period of time, it's not permanent, it comes in that it goes away.
And so when the servant of Allah subhanho wa Taala tastes this tranquility in his heart, he realizes that it was this that he was always searching for in those sins.
The one who Allah guides to Islam or to start practicing the deen that once upon a time he was involved in certain sins and it used to give him pleasure
and peace and tranquility for a temporary period of time. When Allah gives him that Eman
and that tranquility,
then he realizes that this is what I was searching for all that time.
And so he realizes that its true value.
Its true value is basically an inner peace and inner peace and pleasure that lasts with him forever. That lasts with him forever. Whereas the pleasure of the sins. It basically
came and went.
It basically came and went and it only satisfied a certain elder pleasure,
a certain physical pleasure
and not a deep rooted pleasure and satisfaction and tranquility that is deep rooted in the heart.
And so
In
this society and Western society in general, they are, they have basically reached you can say, the peak of human pleasure. And yet, and yet
you find
that people are depressed, you find all of these mental illnesses that are related to depression.
And you find that suicide rates are the highest in this part of the world more than in Muslim countries. And so this shows us something that shows us that they have not attained that true inner peace and tranquility of the heart.
And so no matter how much they indulge in human pleasures, in the end, it's only something that is temporary and satisfies a certain elder physical pleasure, not
the inner peace and tranquility that Allah gives, to whom he to whom He will subhanho wa taala.
And so the true imprisonment, we can say, based on this, that the true imprisonment is the imprisonment of the heart.
A person who's truly imprisoned is when his heart is imprisoned.
And so, you find one person who is free,
completely free in society and in the dunya. He's not living in a physical prison, he's free.
He's free to do what he wants, he's free to indulge in the pleasures that he wants. And yet the end result is
that he commit suicide. On the other hand, you have one who is living in a real prison,
a Muslim who is living in a real prison shackled, but yet, he's happy.
He's, he's complete peace with himself.
Because of his Iman and his yaki in, in Allah and the Promise of Allah subhanho wa taala. And this is something that
even Taymiyah mentioned, Sheikh Osama bin Tamia went through a lot of trials in his life.
And one of those trials that he is that he was imprisoned.
And he used to say
that what can my enemies do to me, they can't do anything to me.
If they exile me
to another land, it's an opportunity for me to travel.
If they imprison me,
then it's an opportunity for me to be secluded with my Lord subhanho wa taala.
And so,
those who are imprisoned because of their Deen
you find them to be some of the most happiest people
and those who have truly gained this inner peace and tranquility, even though everything else has been taken away from them. So what what does this show us shows us that true peace and tranquility and happiness is the peace of the heart. It is the happiness of the heart, not the outer happiness and the outer peace that it is claimed that this is this is the eventual peace and happiness that we humans should try to achieve.
Finally, this tranquility this Sakina
also comes down.
It comes down to heart when it is exposed to different kinds of fitten.
So basically,
the fitting that we are faced with
are of two kinds.
They are of two kinds.
You have the fitting of a shoe blue hat
and then you have the fitting of a shower.
What are the fitting of Shoe Goo hat?
What are Schubert?
Doubts doubts in your Eman? Okay yes basically Shewhart are those doubts that come to your mind that shaitan whispers into your mind making you to doubts,
to doubt your Eman
to don't Allah subhanho wa Taala to don't even the existence of Allah subhanho wa Taala
or to make you to doubt that
truthfulness of Islam
or certain aspects of Islam, you start to doubt or you start to object
to certain things in Islam
the other kind of Phaeton or the Phaeton of Shaohua What are shallot?
The physical lustful desires,
the humanistic desires that we humans that we want to fulfill our physical,
lustful desires.
And so basically, these are the two fits in that we are always faced with.
And so a person whom Allah gives this tranquility in his heart, he's able to stand in front of these Phaeton
and he's able to push them away.
And so when the heart is exposed to the wings of Phaeton, they basically
the trunk, the tranquil heart, the heart that is at peace, that basically turns these fitten upside down
and the way to remain steadfast
in the face of these fitten is by having Iman, that Allah has given these people and also having knowledge. These two things, Eman and knowledge.
And so
it is mentioned in Hadith the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said that the example of the heart is that of a feather
is that of a feather
that is blown about by the wind in the desert.
So when fit and come,
they make you
to shake
like a feather is blown around in the desert.
And so those who pass the test of Phaeton are those whom Allah gives steadfastness through this tranquility, through the Sakeena in the heart.
And so
this Akina, this tranquility is only achieved.
It is only achieved through Iman, as we mentioned, and you're clean and knowledge, through Eman, you're clean and knowledge and when we say you're clean, it does not only mean certainty about
Allah, that we know Allah exists. And what he has told us about, it's all true. No, it also means being certain
of the victory of Allah.
And being certain
that the relief of Allah is near.
What makes a lot of people to feel this test is that they think that
they start to doubt
that the victory of Allah is near.
For example, they see Muslims suffering around the world and they say, they say, you know, where's the victory of Allah?
It's far
it's not going to come anytime soon.
So a person who has to clean no for him. He doesn't look at it in this way. But rather he looks at it.
In the way that Allah has mentioned, Allah in Nolasco, Allah He Corrib
that indeed the victory of Allah is near, it is nearer than we think near them, we anticipate.
And so this is with regards to victory and also with regards to your own personal situation. And so when you're in a difficult, dire situation, a difficult situation.
If you want that tranquility from Allah subhanho wa Taala to calm you down, then believe and be certain have this Jacobian in your heart,
that Allah will send the relief soon.
That your difficult situation will be over very, very soon.
Even if you don't see it coming, believe in it.
Your belief and your your clean your certainty, in that is enough for a lot to give you that tranquility in your heart.
After that, we move on to the diseased hearts.
As we mentioned, the hearts are three times we have the sound heart
and we have the dead heart and we have the diseased heart.
So what we want to talk about today is basically some of the symptoms
terms
of a disease heart, some of the symptoms of a diseased heart and the next week in sha Allah, we'll move on to look at the causes for the sickness of the heart,
the causes for the sickness of the heart.
And so Allah subhanho wa Taala basically created every part of our body to function in a certain way.
And each
part of our body has a certain function certain role to play.
The perfection of that, body part is when it functions according to how it supposed to function.
The perfection of your eye is when you see clearly,
without having the need for any glasses, for example.
The function
of your tongue is that you speak properly, without any problem whatsoever,
and so on and so forth.
And so when that body part becomes defected,
it basically fails to perform what it was made to do properly.
Or at least, at least, if it performs it, it does not perform it.
According to how it was supposed to be made, it performs it with some difficulty, with some difficulty. And so the deflection, as we mentioned, of the of the eye, is when you cannot see properly,
the deflection of your hand, is when you cannot hold on to things properly, and so on and so forth.
The deflection and the sickness of our body in general,
is basically when our body fails to function properly, when we're sick, and we're ill.
Something in our body
does not function properly our digestive system, our nervous system, whatever it be.
And so it becomes weak, and it becomes defective.
As for the heart, as for the heart, and similarly, the heart, Allah has created to function in a certain way.
And Allah wants it to be sound and healthy. And we've already spoken about
the Healthy Heart and the sound heart. So when the heart becomes ill
and defected, it basically feels to do what it was created to do.
It does not become dead completely. That is the dead heart.
But rather,
it has an illness, it's not functioning the way it should be functioning.
And so this happens or when this happens,
then the heart does not recognize Allah the way it should recognize.
When this happens, the heart does not love Allah the way it should be loving Allah.
When this happens, the heart does not look forward to meeting Allah
the way it should be. When this happens, the heart does not turn to Allah in repentance for its sins, when it should be.
When this happens, the heart does not prefer
Allah subhanho wa Taala over everything else, but rather, it prefers other things above Allah and the pleasure of Allah subhanho wa taala. So if the believer recognized everything,
and he had knowledge of everything, but he did not recognize
his creator, then it's as if he didn't have any knowledge at all.
And so his heart is defected, it is ill.
Even if a person achieves all the pleasures of the dunya
preferring everything in the dunya over the pleasure of Allah subhanho wa Taala then he basically fails to find love for Allah in his heart.
And so once again, it is ill it is defected.
Rather we say that if the heart is completely empty of these two
means the love of Allah, looking forward to meeting Allah, turning to Allah in repentance, and instead it indulges in all the pleasures of the dunya, then basically all of that would turn as a punishment for the person in this life.
And this is something we mentioned previously how, when we look at the kuffaar We shouldn't be thinking that,
you know, they're in pleasure.
And they're enjoying themselves. But rather Allah tells us fill out to our gibca and wild room, well I will do
Allah, telling the Prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam regarding the hypocrites, don't be amazed and admired by their by the dunya that they have
their children their wealth,
but rather, it is a punishment from Allah, this thing that they are involved in, they are indulging in this dunya that they are enjoying. To you it looks like enjoyment. But on the contrary, it is actually a punishment from Allah subhanho wa taala.
And so, the heart that recognizes Allah subhanho wa Taala is the heart that basically loves Allah subhanho wa Taala and makes worship of Allah subhana who without it sincerely to Allah alone,
and never prefers any other love, over the love of Allah subhanho wa Taala and so when any heart gives preference, to loving something over
the love and the pleasure of Allah, then it means that it is a sick heart.
This we can say, is among the symptoms of a sick heart.
When the heart gives precedence, and preference to loving, other than Allah subhanho wa Taala over Allah. What does this mean exactly?
Does it mean that we cannot love our children?
Does it mean that a husband cannot love his wife? Does it mean that we cannot love
whatever we possess of the dunya
you have a car you love it?
You have, you know, a house that you live in that you bought, and you love this house or whatever it be? No, it does not mean that but rather it means when the love goes contrary.
When it goes contrary to the commandments of Allah subhanho wa Taala
when that love does not fall in line with what Allah loves, and what Allah is pleased with.
And that's why when
some of the companions they saw certain people who
or rather it was a companion who asked the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam that I like to dress nicely.
Wear nice clothing
and new brand new clothes that are nice.
The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam did not say to him No, you're not allowed to love that.
This is something you're not allowed to be. You're not allowed to love or you're not allowed to be attached with rather, he said in Allah, Jamie loon you have been Jamal.
Allah
is beautiful and he loves beauty.
You can love these kinds of things.
You can
be involved in these things, as long as they are that which Allah has made permissible that which Allah has made permissible.
When does it become haram? Or we can say when is it
that loving something
other than Allah over Allah and the love of Allah, when is it something that causes the heart to become diseased and ill when that thing is no longer in line with the love of Allah and the pleasure of Allah subhanahu wata. So when Allah subhanahu wa taala forbid something and the heart is inclined to it.
And the heart is in love with it even after it knows
that Allah has made this thing forbidden. Then this is when we say that the heart is diseased, and it is ill. This is one of the symptoms of
an ill heart.
Just like any other organ in the body, we have for example the stomach
if it becomes accustomed
to eating something which is harmful
and prefers it
over that which is healthy, then what happens?
What happens the pleasure of healthy food, it basically goes away.
So you don't find healthy food as being something pleasurable.
Whereas a person who likes to eat healthy food, and he becomes accustomed to it,
he loves it. Similarly, with the love of Allah subhanho wa taala, those who are in love with Allah, and the commandments of Allah,
you find
that when they commit a sin, it becomes problematic for them.
It becomes problematic. And so three straight away they turn to Allah in repentance, whereas those who are involved in sin,
those who are involved in the disobedience of Allah subhanahu wa taharah.
They become accustomed to it. And so
that which is good,
they find that as being something strange,
they find that as being something strange.
And so,
the heart of a person.
Another point to mention here is a very important point. And that is that the heart of a person can fall ill.
And the illness can also intensify without a person even realizing it.
Your heart can be ill and diseased, without you even realizing that it is ill and diseased. Why? Because
the heart is too busy with other things and so it doesn't pay attention
to what is happening with the heart.
And this is what we call the state of Allah,
the state of love law,
where a person
is heedless. Allah has mentioned the people of hafla in the Quran.
Those who they live their lives
heedless.
He lives of what heedless of Allah.
Heedless of the commandments of Allah, heedless of death, and what comes after death.
Majority of people that is not even on their minds.
What comes after death, they don't care.
They just want to live their lives. And so
they're living in a heedless state. They're living in a heedless state.
So a lot of people, they have these diseases or now and here I'm talking about the believers. I'm talking about the Muslims. Because the diseased heart, the diseased heart, the ill heart is the heart of the believer,
not the heart of the Kafeel.
And so many, even among Muslims, who have these diseased hearts, they don't even realize that their hearts are diseased, because of these heedless lives that they're living.
As for the heart of the taffet, then basically this heedlessness has reached its peak.
This heedlessness has reached the peak where even if they are reminded about it, they're reminded of Allah they're reminded of what comes after death and so on and so forth. They won't wake up.
They won't wake up That's why Allah gives us their example in the Quran.
In surah, Baqarah Allah gives us the example of the disbeliever who you give Dawa to
your calling him
Allah says committed the lady
in Surah, Baqarah Allah says basically
matter who whom
can omit it, okay, that's regarding the hypocrite. In another verse, Allah says
they're basically you call upon them.
You call upon them
and all they hear or shouts and hear this parable Allah mentioned regarding
a shepherd
when he is calling and shouting out his sheep
so all the here are
shots
and words but they don't understand anything of it.
So Allah tells us that these people, these Kuffar who you are calling are no different. All they can hear are shots and words.
And then Allah says Simone book Milan, Milan, for whom LA, yaki lune
that they are deaf, they are blind.
And they will never understand.
And that is because their hearts are dead. That is because their hearts are dead. Whereas the believer, if you were to remind him, if you were to remind him he would wake up
because there is still some life in his heart, but that life
is defected. It is ill, it is weak. And so when he is reminded
it boosts up his Eman. When he is reminded of Allah, when he is reminded of death and what comes after death.
He gives life to his heart. Whereas the caffeine,
it doesn't benefit him, no matter how much no matter how much you try to tell him.
So now what are this what are some of the signs and symptoms of a sick heart
and we'll conclude with this in sha Allah.
Firstly,
among the signs
of a sick and diseased heart
is that
a person finds it difficult
to live by the very purpose of His creation.
Which is to know Allah subhanho wa Taala to love Allah subhanahu wa Tada
to look forward to meet Allah subhanho wa Taala to turn to Allah in repentance, to prefer doing all of this over any other desire, personal desire that he has. And so whoever gives precedence
and preference to his or her whims,
over the love of and obedience of Allah subhanho wa Taala then there's no doubt that his or her heart is diseased. And we've already mentioned this, but we wanted to mention it again here
as we talk now about the signs and the symptoms of a diseased heart
and that's why Allah subhanho wa Taala says
I've heard it many Takada Isla hoo hoo ha.
Do you not see the one who has taken
his whims as His deity.
And so, such people they don't worship a physical idol.
And they don't say this is my God that I am worshiping.
But Allah subhanho wa Taala tells us that the reality, their reality is that they are worshipping their whims. And so even an atheist
who claims not to believe in any god, he has taken his whims and his desires as his God that he worships.
And so Allah tells us well done Allahu, Allahu Allah, I mean, we're hot and semi, he was sorry wakatobi Mahatama he wakatobi that such people, Allah subhanahu wa taala has made them to go astray
due to their knowledge, and so they had knowledge. And so they went against that knowledge and so Allah caused them to go astray and put a seal on the hearing and also on their hearts
and also put
a veil on their vision.
Which Allah Allah, those are usually Shaohua familia de manera de la Sol who will guide them after Allah subhanahu wa. So this is the first the second sign or symptom of a diseased heart
is basically not being disturbed
by disobedience to Allah subhanho wa Taala
not being disturbed
or not feeling
any remorse
for when you disobey Allah subhanho wa Taala
and so a dead person does not feel
any wound.
You can stab him 100 times. You can cut up you can cut his body and to pee
uses
a dead body would he feel it? No, because he has no life.
Similarly, the dead heart does not feel the pain of any sins.
Also the diseased heart, just like some bodies,
certain parts of your body may
maybe defected. And so you don't feel anything there. You can have that part of the body injured many times and you will feel the pain because that part of the body is dead.
And so the heart is similar, it does not feel any pain when it disobeys Allah subhanho wa taala. On the other hand, the sound heart, the healthy heart feels great pain, when
even a single small sin is committed. And so that is why it quickly turns to Allah and repentance. That is why it quickly turns to Allah in repentance.
And Allah speaks of this in many different places in the Quran
will Edina either for alpha fisherton Although Allah mu and Fusa home Decker Allah, those who when they commit Sacha immorality, whether it be Zina or anything else, Allah says, or they wronged themselves with any other sins.
They immediately remember Allah.
They immediately remember ALLAH and they seek forgiveness for their sins. Who are these the believers? The believers who have Eman in their hearts.
And so, when they sin, it hurts them.
And they feel that pain and the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam also gave us this example
regarding
the believers in their affection for one another, what is the example that he gave
in a very famous Hadith
anyone from the sisters from the brothers
the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said that the believers in their affection and mercy and compassion towards one another are like one body.
If one part of it
feels pain,
and illness and suffering, then the entire body responds and feels that pain.
And so the state of our OMA today
is the opposite of this.
And this proves that
either
either we are
either either we are drugged.
Like
a person is drugged.
When he's about to go into surgery, his body is drugged, and he doesn't feel the pain of the surgery.
So either we're drugged.
And we don't know what's going on. Or we're not part of this.
Because if we weren't part of this OMA we would feel that pain and that suffering, the others in this room are going through.
Moving on to the third symptom of the disease, heart,
not feeling any pain, of being unaware of the truth.
No, not feeling any pain
of being unaware of the truth.
Whereas someone with an upright mind, he could never tolerate
that when coming across
anything, which is confusing, confusing for him.
straightaway, he tries to seek the truth.
When something is bothering him, he's confused about the truth. He quickly goes and search for searches for the truth in any particular issue. But certain people, they're ignorant, and they're happy, they're satisfied to be ignorant.
They can't be bothered to search for the truth. And so this is a symptom of a disease heart.
And so Allah subhanho wa Taala wants us to be seekers of the truth.
He wants us to seek the truth, whether it be seeking the truth of Islam or certain aspects of Islam.
Ignorance is not a good trait to have. And so those who are satisfied with being ignorant and unaware of the truth, this is a sign of a diseased heart.
Moving on to the next point
Among the symptoms of a disease heart is basically when a person deviates from what is useful,
going to what is harmful for him.
When one deviates from what is useful to what is harmful,
and so many people for example, they refrain from listening to the Quran
about which Allah subhanho wa Taala told us when when z luminol Quran Hema, who she thought was warahmatu little mean that we have sent down the Quran, that which is a healing, as she thought and a mercy for mankind.
Instead you find them listening to music
and other things.
Instead of, instead of listening to the Quran, and they prefer it over the Quran. And this also includes those who
may tell you that, you know, I'm not listening to music, but I like to listen to machines. And so you find them listening to machines more than they like listening to the Quran. Yes, it's okay to listen to the sheet sometimes. But if a person prefers that, and most of his time he's listening to that over the Quran, then this is a sign of sickness, a sickness of the heart. And that's because the words of Allah subhanho wa Taala are a cure for the heart. They are something that brings tranquility to the heart. And so if a person is turning away from that, he's turning away from what is useful to what is harmful. Finally, the last point
is among the symptoms of a sick heart, that a person settles into this world dunya being satisfied with it, and being at peace with it.
He is happy,
he is happy. Living in this dunya meaning
not that we can't be happy in this dunya No, Allah subhanho wa taala.
In fact, Allah subhanho wa Taala has told us that the believers who do righteous deeds are not here yet in the home higher tempo, and we will give them a good life, a happy life in this dunya. That's not what I mean by this. But rather, what I mean by this is to settle into this worldly life,
to sink into it, being satisfied with our lives, and feeling at peace in this dunya not feeling a sense of alienation, not feeling a sense of strangeness
such that this person,
he only looks at the dunya. And he doesn't look at he doesn't look at what comes after this dunya meaning that basically he has taken this dunya as his home and forgotten about his home in the afternoon.
He doesn't think about his home in the afternoon. He doesn't do he doesn't do anything to build for his home, in the ACA, rather,
he is in this dunya and he has made his home in this dunya as if he's here forever.
And so he's become attached to this present home of his.
On the other hand, when a heart becomes sound, and healthy, yearns for what for the accurate not the dunya it looks forward to what Allah has prepared for him in the akhira. And so the state of a person with such a heart
is that you find
that this breed basically brings to mind the Hadith of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam couldn't fit dunya and never even Oh, I have you to Seville be in the dunya as if you are a stranger or
or away for a traveler. Be in the dunya as if you are a stranger or
a traveler. When you travel, when you set off traveling somewhere.
You travel for a certain period of time, right?
And so you take with you what you need for that travel for that journey.
Because you know you're coming back home eventually.
So you don't take everything with you,
but rather you take what you need. And so when the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said be in the world as if you're a stranger or a traveler, what he meant is to take from this dunya what you need and to leave what you don't need because you are traveling, you are traveling to where to your home, in the alley
and so on.
A person who does that, then he has a sound heart. A person who does not do that. Instead, he takes everything he hoards everything with him. And he indulges in this dunya taking everything of this dunya forgetting about where he's traveling to such people, it is a sign that their hearts are diseased.
So these are some of the symptoms and signs of a disease heart. Finally, one last point I wanted to add here is that some people may recognize that they have a sickness in their heart. And they may have tried
to find a cure for it.
But
the medicine,
it tastes too bitter.
The medicine
it tasted too bitter for them.
And so they lost patience. And they gave up.
They lost patience, and they gave up. And so
they prefer suffering
with the illness,
over the difficulty of taking the medicine.
They prefer
the suffering that is involved in that illness, over
the difficulty of taking that medicine and the bitterness of it.
And so
it's medicine, what is the medicine
for the illness of the heart. We're going to talk about this next week the cure for a diseased heart. But basically,
it is in opposing our desires.
It is in opposing our desires, which is the most difficult thing for our soul to do.
The most difficult thing for our soul to do is to oppose its desires, but at the same time, it is the most beneficial thing for it.
It is the most beneficial thing for it.
Just like a person who's sick
the medicine that the doctor gives, it may be bitter.
It may be difficult to take
but it is the most beneficial thing for him. If he wants to be cured, he has to take it there's no other choice.
And that's why Allah subhanho wa Taala made the medicine for the illness of the heart to be in opposing our neffs and its desires
and that's why Allah subhanho wa Taala told us the eventual reward for such people
what a madman Hoffa McCollum Robbie. One I had enough sir Anil Hawa, as for those who
feared standing before their Lord subhanho wa Taala and opposed their whims and their desires. What does the law say for in Elgin Netta he'll met while
Jana Is there a boat, Jana, Paradise will be there a boat that will be their reward.
And so this refers to when you come upon
an opportunity to disobey Allah subhanho wa taala.
To commit a sin has been abuzz. He says regarding this verse, that it refers to someone who
is about to commit a certain sin.
And then he remembers Allah.
He fears Allah. He fears standing before Allah on the day of judgment, and answering for having disobeyed Him. That's the meaning of this verse where Imam and Hoffa mcomber Obey, as for he who's who fears standing before his Lord.
And so, he fears that day, he recalls the day of judgment and standing before Allah testifying. And so as a result, when a had enough sign in power, as a result, he forbade following his desires, he forbade himself from following his whims and his desires.
And so as a result, his reward will be his reward reward will be genuine.
And so, these are some of the symptoms and signs of a diseased heart. Next week in sha Allah, we'll move on to the causes for the sickness of the heart.
As well as, as well as
some of the diseases of the heart.
What are some of the common diseases of the heart we'll touch upon those. And then later on we'll get into the cure be eating Allah and will perhaps,
you know set an entire lecture for that the cure the cure of the diseases of the heart. So, are there any questions that anyone has? You have three minutes until Salah
