Today is the 23rd of the month of
Rajab, 1446, which corresponds to the 23rd of

We continue our lesson in this blessed book,
the book of Allah Almighty.
I ask Allah Almighty to bless us and

So inshallah we continue from where we stopped
last lesson.
And if I'm not mistaken, last lesson we
were talking about the companions of the Sabbath.
Allah Almighty says, وَاسْأَلْهُمْ عَنِ الْقَرِيَةِ الَّتِي كَانَتْ
حَاظِرَةَ الْبَحْرِ إِذْ يَعَدُونَ فِي السَّبْتِ إِذْ تَأْتِيهِمْ
حِيْتَانُهُمْ يَوْمَ سَبْتِهِمْ شُرَّعًا وَيَوْمَ لَا يَسْبِتُونَ لَا
تَأْتِيهِمْ كَذَلِكَ نَبْلُوهُم بِمَا كَانُوا يَفْسِقُونَ وَإِذْ قَالَتْ
أُمَّةٌ مِّنْهُمْ لِمَا تَعِذُونَ قَوْمًا إِلَّهُمْ مَوْلِكُمْ أَوْ
مَعَذِّبُهُمْ أَذَابًا شَدِيدًا قَالُوا مَعَذِرَةً إِلَىٰ رَبِّكُمْ
وَلَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَّقُونَ So, last week we talked about
the importance of the da'wah and the
danger of living in the midst of the
people who are in need of da'wah
and you're not giving them the da'wah.
If a person does that, Alhamdulillah, when the
punishment from Allah SWT comes, it will include
him also.
And the example given to us is the
saying of Allah SWT, وَاسْأَلُوا مَعَنِ الْقَرِيَةِ الَّتِي
كَانَتْ حَاضِرَةَ الْبَحْرِ If you remember last week,
we talked about the place where the community,
the Qariyat, Ayla or whatever city was that.
So, when they started going against the laws
of Allah SWT, people were divided into three
groups in that city.
The du'at, the demotivators and those people
who are committing the sin.
So, the du'at were reminding them that
this you are doing is wrong.
Allah SWT told them not to do it.
So, they don't want to listen.
The demotivators told the du'at, you are
just wasting your time.
Allah SWT is going to destroy these guys.
Why do you waste your time to give
them dawah?
And this is, subhanAllah, very dangerous for a
person thinking this way.
Because Hidayat al-Tawfiq is not, a person
can convince another person.
Rasulullah SAW should be able to convince Abu
Talib, Ibrahim with his father, Nuh AS with
his wife, with his son also, Lut AS
with his wife.
And all of these examples given to us
by Rabbul Alamin confirmed to us that Hidayat
al-Tawfiq, nobody can do it except Rabbul
Alamin.
What is Hidayat al-Tawfiq?
To grant a person ability to see the
truth and accept it.
My job is to explain, your job is
to explain, but the person might not understand,
might not see it.
Although you are very good in explanation, but
it doesn't matter.
What matters is to pray to Allah SWT
for him to get al-Tawfiq, to see
what you are saying and to accept that
which you are inviting him to do.
This is really, really, really necessary for you
to have this, otherwise you will be disappointed.
You call him, you call, you call, you
call, you keep doing, but the man is
not willing to accept.
The woman is not willing to accept.
Whoever you are inviting, they are not willing
to accept.
Sometimes you get bored, sometimes you will be
disappointed.
You will start saying to these people that
there is no good in them.
No, you should remember always that only if
Allah SWT grants them ability to see, then
they can see it.
This will help you to keep doing, to
keep doing.
Because you will be believing that today they
don't see it, but inshallah tomorrow they will
see.
That's why when the demotivator said to them,
why do you waste your time inviting them
to Islam?
They said no.
Our job is to convey the message.
We want Allah to see us doing our
job.
We are not responsible of his job.
We are responsible of our job.
The job of Allah SWT is to let
them understand if he wants.
You get it?
If he wants.
This is a gift from Rabbul Alameen.
But our job is to explain to the
people the truth and to make sure they
see it clearly.

So they said, we want Allah SWT to
see us doing what he commanded us to
do.
And also perhaps they might be accepting it
today.
Yesterday they rejected it, today inshallah they will
see the truth and accept it.
Subhanallah, very good way of doing things.
We are just doing our job.
What is with Allah SWT?
We are not responsible of that.
That tomorrow inshallah they will accept.
If today they rejected, tomorrow they might accept.
Allahumma agfir liqawmi fa-innahum la-ya'lamun.
You remember that Prophet, right?
They were throwing stone on him and he
was bleeding.
Subhanallah, he was rubbing the blood from his
face and saying at the same time, Allahumma
agfir liqawmi fa-innahum la-ya'lamun.
Ya Allah, forgive them because they don't know.
You can imagine the kind of heart Allah
SWT granted those people.
They are putting him into this punishment.
He does have a right to take revenge
or to ask Allah SWT to take revenge
on his behalf, but he doesn't want.
He says, Ya Allah, agfir liqawmi fa-innahum
la-ya'lamun.
Forgive them because they are ignorant, they don't
know.
He doesn't want Allah to punish them.
The same goes to our Rasul, Muhammad SWT.
When the people in Ta'if also threw
a stone on him, he also said, when
the angel of mountain proposed to take two
mountains and just bash them and destroy the
city, within the blink of an eye.
He says, no, I don't want it.
He said, if they don't accept me today,
perhaps Insha'Allah, a day will come when
their kids will accept me.
Ya Allah, much more greater than that other
Prophet.
Both of them are so excellent.
But this one is much greater because Rasulullah
SWT is not even focusing on them.
He said, I'm willing to be patient, Insha
'Allah, to wait until their children to come.
Maybe from the kids you can have somebody
who will accept.
Hussam al-Dhan.
And also, always being optimistic.
Optimism is necessary in dawah.
Because when you have this pessimism, trust me,
you will not last in your dawah.
They disappoint you and they will disappoint you.
If you are calling upon people, calling them
to the truth, trust me, you will be
disappointed a lot.
So if you don't have Allah SWT in
your mind, you will be disappointed and just
give up.
And don't give dawah to anyone.
They said, we just want Allah SWT to
see our excuse and also perhaps they might
accept.
Yesterday we did, we tried our best, but
they did not.
And today what makes us think that they
will not accept?
Nuh AS said what?
What method he did not use?
He talked to them in public.
They don't want.
He talked to them in secret.
They don't want.
He went to the places they don't want,
individually they don't want, at night they don't
want, in the daytime they don't want, nothing.
And he said, I don't want anything from
you, I'm not looking for money, I just
want you to save yourself.
Rabbul Alamin, the one who created everything is
watching.
And you are not going to escape, you
are going to put yourself into trouble, please
do accept, I don't want any money from
you.
But they don't want to listen.
But we learn from him, you know he
has been doing this, this Laylat al-Wanahara,
he has been doing it for 950 years.
950 years, 1000 years, except 50 years.
Very patient.
So we learn from them patience, tolerance, and
also we learn
from them patience, and also having Husn al
-Dhan bi Tawfiq Allah Azza wa Jal, and
tolerance also.
Because if you don't have patience, and you
don't have mercy to the people you are
inviting, you will never be able to maintain
Istiqama in your da'wah.
قَالُوا مَا ذِلَةً إِلَىٰ رَبِّكُمْ وَلَا عَلَّهُمْ بِالتَّقُونَ
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says, فَلَمَّا نَسُوا
مَا ذُكِّرُوا بِهِ أَنْجَيْنَا الَّذِينَ إِنْهَوْنَ عَنِ السُّوءِ
وَأَخَذْنَا الَّذِينَ الظَّلَمُوا بِعَذَابٍ بَإِيسٍ بِمَا كَانُوا يَفْسِقُونَ
When they forgot that which they were reminded
with, so they were reminded by something, they
forgot that one.
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says, we saved
those who are reminding people not to do
the evil thing.
You see three groups, right?
The people who are giving the reminders, and
the criminals, and the people who are demotivating
the people who are giving the reminders.
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says, when they
forgot, those people they don't want to listen,
they don't want to adhere to that which
the good ones are advising them to do,
Allah says, وَأَخَذْنَا الَّذِينَ الظَّلَمُوا بِعَذَابٍ بَإِيسٍ بِمَا
كَانُوا يَفْسِقُونَ We saved those people who are
advising people not to do evil thing.
وَأَخَذْنَا الَّذِينَ الظَّلَمُوا بِعَذَابٍ بَإِيسٍ بِمَا كَانُوا يَفْسِقُونَ
The criminals, the oppressors, Allah subhanahu wa ta
'ala says, we got them all.
None of them escaped.
But then now the question remains, what happened
to the demotivators?
Those people who are demotivating others, what happened
to them?
Because Quran says, we saved only those who
are reminding people to be righteous.
It was silent about those people who are
not reminding people.
Although they don't commit the crime, but they
keep quiet.
That's why in Arabic they have this wisdom,
الساكت عن الحقي شيطان أخرص The one who
is keeping quiet, and that is something which
is going on in the wrong way, and
he can talk about it, but he keeps
quiet.
It's just like a muted devil, right?
أخرص is a mute, the person who can't
speak.
So that's why if the punishment comes, usually
it includes these guys also.
Those people who are not reminding others to
do the right thing.
Because in the way or the other, they
are also cooperating to the sin to be
continuous.
Because we keep silence, it's a kind of
tolerance to the people who are committing the
sin.
So Allah says, وَأَخَذْنَا الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا بِعْذَابٍ بَإِيسٍ
بِمَكَانُوا يَفْسِقُونَ فَلَمَّا أَعْتُوا عَمَّانُهُ عَنْهُ قُلْنَا لَهُمْ
كُونُوا قِرَدَةً خَاسِئِينَ Allah SWT, when those people
became so arrogant, they don't want to listen,
they kept on doing that which they were
reminded not to do, Allah SWT says, we
turn them into monkeys, in the state of
disgrace and disrespect, subhanAllah.
And they only live for a few days,
for three days maximum, then Allah SWT will
kill them, all because the lesson is already
been learned.
Allah SWT says, وَإِذْ تَعَدَّنَ رَبُّكَ لَيَبَعَثَنَّ عَلَيْهِمْ
إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ مَنْ يَسُومُهُمْ سُوءَ الْعَذَابِ إِنَّ
رَبَّكَ لَسَرِي وَلْأَقَابِ وَإِنَّهُ لَغَفُورٌ رَحِيمٌ Allah SWT
after this story, He says, He made an
announcement that, He says, وَإِذْ تَعَدَّنَ رَبُّكَ لَيَبَعَثَنَّ
عَلَيْهِمْ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ مَنْ يَسُومُهُمْ سُوءَ الْعَذَابِ
He promised to be sending these guys, the
Jews, up to the Day of Judgment.
Until the Day of Judgment, somebody who will
taste them the worst type of punishment.
He says, إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَسَرِي وَلْأَقَابِ وَإِنَّهُ لَغَفُورٌ
رَحِيمٌ SubhanAllah, very beautiful religion, that doesn't block
the means of Tawbah.
Allah SWT, He threatened them.
You get it?
He told them that, I will be sending
you these type of people to taste you
the worst type of punishment.
And then Allah SWT says, إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَسَرِي
وَلَأَقَابِ The quickest one when it comes to
punishment is Rabbul Alameen.
But at the same time, Allah SWT did
not block the way.
He says, وَإِنَّهُ لَغَفُورٌ رَحِيمٌ SubhanAllah.
Allah SWT threatened them.
حَدَّدَهُمْ ثُمَّ فَتَحَ لَهُمْ بَابَ الْفَيْئَةِ He opens
for them the door to make a U
-turn.
At any time they want, they can come
back to Rabbul Alameen.
By Allah, this ayah is not just for
them, it's for us.
Them, they don't want to listen.
They already told Rabbul Alameen, سَمِعْنَا وَأَصَيْنَا We
listen and we disobey.
But it's for us also, to know that
no matter how much far you went to,
the door back to Allah SWT is always
open.
It can only be closed when you reach
the last moment, when you see the Angel
of Death, or the Day of Judgment, or
the sun rises from the west.
May Allah grant us the ability to repent
all the time.
قَالَ وَقَطَّعْنَاهُمْ فِي الْأَرْضِ أُمَمًا Allah SWT says,
We broke them into pieces inside the earth.
This is their nature, that's why the orthodox
amongst them, they will tell all these criminals
who are living in our own territories.
They will tell those criminals that, you guys
are not part of us.
And both of them appointed dhalal, but these
guys, the dhalal is more than, is worse
than the orthodox one.
Those ones will tell them that, according to
our scriptures, we don't have a land.
What are you talking about?
To claim that somebody else's land is your
land.
They tell them, these are Jews, big Jews
actually, with beards and big rabbis.
Tell them, we don't have a land.
And in the Quran, Allah SWT says, وَقَطَّعْنَاهُمْ
فِي الْأَرْضِ أُمَمًا We'll break them into pieces,
scattered on the earth.
مِنْهُمُ الصَّالِحُونَ وَمِنْهُمْ دُونَ ذَلِكَ Allah SWT says,
they are not equal.
From among them, you have the righteous one
amongst them, وَمِنْهُمْ دُونَ ذَلِكَ and you have
also the bad quality ones amongst them.
You get it?
After the arrival of the Prophet SAW, whoever
doesn't accept Muhammad SAW, is categorized amongst the
kuffar.
If he doesn't accept him, he is categorized
amongst the kuffar.
So Allah SWT says, وَقَطَّعْنَاهُمْ فِي الْأَرْضِ أُمَمًا
And we cut them into pieces on earth.
مِنْهُمُ الصَّالِحُونَ وَمِنْهُمْ دُونَ ذَلِكَ And amongst them
you have righteous, and you have also those
people who are less than that.
So that's the brief about the story of
these guys that Allah SWT says, وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْتُمُ
الَّذِينَ أَأْتَدَوْا مِنْكُمْ فِي السَّبْتِ فَقُلْنَا لَهُمْ كُونُوا
قِرَادَةً خَاسِئِينَ Allah SWT says, you already know
the consequence and the story of those people
who went against the laws of Allah SWT
by catching fish on Saturday.
وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْتُمُ الَّذِينَ أَأْتَدَوْا مِنْكُمْ فِي السَّبْتِ فَقُلْنَا
لَهُمْ كُونُوا قِرَادَةً خَاسِئِينَ Allah SWT says, we
told them, كُونُوا قِرَادَةً خَاسِئِينَ He turned them
into monkeys in the state of disgrace.
قَالَ فَجْعَلْنَاهَا نَكَالًا لِّمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهَا وَمَا خَلْفَهَا
وَمُعْعِظَةً لِّلْمُتَّقِينَ We made the city, according to
some interpretation, جَعَلْنَهَا الضَّمِير يَعُودُ إِلَى الْقَرْيَةِ
فَجَعَلْنَهَا نَكَالًا لِّمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهَا وَمَا خَلْفَهَا and
according to some interpretation, الضَّمِير يَعُودُ إِلَى الْقِرَدَةِ
والله هذا عَيْب عَيْب كبير بإمكانك تضحك أين
أم؟
أنا أخاطبك أين أم؟
بالله عليك خفف صوتك so
there is an interpretation that says فَجَعَلْنَهَا الضَّمِير
يَعُودُ إِلَى الْقَرْيَةِ القرية means the city where
those people are located another ضمير says الضَّمِير
يَعُودُ عَلَى الْقِرَدَةِ the monkeys another opinion says
الضَّمِير يَعُودُ عَلَى الْحِيْتَانِ وَاسْعَلْهُمْ أَنْ الْقِرَيَةِ الَّتي
كَانَتْ حَاضِرَةَ الْبَحْرِ إِذْ يَعْدُونَ فِي السَّبْتِ إِذْ
تَأْتِهِمْ حِيْتَانُهُ so another opinion says يَعُودُ عَلَى
الْحِيْتَانِ the fish another opinion says يَعُودُ عَلَى
الْعُقُوبَةِ and it goes back to the punishment
جَعَلْنَاهَا نَكَالًا لِمَا فَقُلْنَا لَهُمْ كُنُوا قِرَدَةً خَاسِيدٍ
Allah SWT says we converted them into monkeys
in the state of disgrace so some scholars
said when Allah SWT says جَعَلْنَاهَا أي جَعَلْنَا
الْعُقُوبَةَ نَكَالًا لِمَا بَيْنَ اَدَيْهَا بَيْنَ اَدَيْ الْقَرْيَةَ
or بَيْنَ اَدَيْ الْعُقُوبَةَ فَجَعَلْنَاهَا نَكَالًا لِمَا بَيْنَ
اَدَيْهَا وَمَا خَلْفَهَا وَمَوْعِظَةً لِّلْمُتَّقِينَ قَالَ وَالصَّحِيهُ أَنَّ
الضَّمِيرَ عَائِدٌ عَلَى الْقَرْيَةَ so even the cathedral
says the best is the opinion that says
the ضمير فَجَعَلْنَاهَا نَكَالًا لِمَا بَيْنَ اَدَيْهَا he
says the dhameer فَجَعَلْنَاهَا نَكَالًا لِمَا بَيْنَ اَدَيْهَا
so Allah SWT says we destroy those people
because of their evil behavior so when he
says فَجَعَلْنَاهَا نَكَالًا لِمَا بَيْنَ اَدَيْهَا and we
make that city that we punish to be
نَكَالًا an example عقوبة that Allah SWT made
to be acting as an example and a
lesson for those people who will come afterwards
you get it?
but then if you take it as those
people who will come afterward then وَمَا خَلْفَهَا
how is it going to be a lesson
for those people who already passed that's why
the best way to interpret it is to
go with the opinion that says فَجَعَلْنَاهَا نَكَالًا
لِمَا بَيْنَ اَدَيْهَا وَمَا خَلْفَهَا it means Allah
SWT make it as a lesson for those
surrounding what do you call it?
areas القرى around that city that Allah SWT
destroyed the people and this is similar to
the saying of Allah SWT in surah Al
-Ahqaf وَلَقَدْ أَهْلَكْنَا مَا حَوْلَكُمْ مِنَ الْقُرَىٰ وَصَرَّفْنَا
الْآيَاتِ when he says نَكَالًا لِمَا بَيْنَ اَدَيْهَا
meaning Allah made that city to be the
best example and a lesson for any city
that is around those people because in that
time stories of other people is not going
to go so far surrounding area will know
they don't have advanced technology in the way
we are having that the news will reach
farthest places as far as you can imagine
in that time the cities that are around
they will know what exactly Allah SWT did
with those people and then هَكَذَا يَتَنَقَلُوا الْأَخْبَابُ
so Allah SWT says نَكَالًا لِمَا بَيْنَ اَدَيْهَا
to be an example and also a lesson
for any city that is around those people
who can possibly hear what Allah SWT did
against those ones قَالَ نَكَالًا لِمَا بَيْنَ اَدَيْهَا
وَمَا خَلْفَهَا وَمَوْعِظَةً لِلْمُتَّقِينَ and also Allah SWT
make it as a موعظة لِلْمُتَّقِينَ مِنْ أُمَّةِ
مُحَمَّدٍ صلى الله عليه وسلم Allah make it
موعظة meaning نصيحة and a warning رب العالمين
something that will help us to reflect upon
Taqwa of Allah SWT قَالَ وَمَوْعِظَةً لِلْمُتَّقِينَ so
we made it also as a lesson for
those who fear Allah SWT in all of
their deeds and activities so that's the summary
of the story of those أصحاب الكهف and
one of the biggest lesson we can take
from this is the saying of the Prophet
SAW لَا تَرْتَكِبُ مَرْتَكَبَةَ الْيَهُودِ فَتَسْتَبِيحُ أَوْ تَسْتَحِلُّ
مَحَارِمَ اللَّهِ بِأَدْنَ الْحِيَرِ Rasulullah SAW said don't
you ever engage in that which the Jews
are engaging in.
In a way you will end up legalizing
the محارم of Allah SWT through useless tricks
Allah SWT says don't catch fish on Saturday,
they trap it on Friday and come and
get it on Sunday they're trying to play
a game Allah SWT says don't eat fat

warned us that we shouldn't engage in doing

says اِذِن بَعَثَ أَشْقَاهَا فَقَالَ لَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ

Saleh AS, he told them نَاقَةَ اللَّهِ وَسُقُوا
