In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most
Merciful All praise is due to Allah.
We praise Him, we seek His help, and
we seek His forgiveness.
And we seek refuge in Allah from the
evil of our souls and from the evil
of our deeds.
Whomsoever Allah guides, none can misguide him.
And whosoever He misguides, none can guide him.
And I bear witness that there is no
god but Allah, alone, with no partner.
And I bear witness that Muhammad is His
servant and Messenger.
O ye who believe!
fear Allah as He should be feared, and
die not except as Muslims.
O ye who believe!
fear your Lord, Who created you from one
soul, and created from it her husband, and
spread among them many men and women.
And fear Allah, in Whom you ask for
help and mercy.
Verily, Allah watches over you.
O ye who believe!
fear Allah, and speak a just word.
He will set right for you your deeds,
and forgive you your sins.
And whosoever obeys Allah and His Messenger has
certainly attained a great triumph.
As for what follows, the Hadith is the
Book of Allah, and the best guidance is
the guidance of Muhammad, peace and blessings of
Allah be upon him.
And the worst of things is its innovation,
for every innovation is an invention, and every
invention is a misguidance, and every misguidance is
in the Fire.
Or as he said, peace and blessings of
Allah be upon him, As-salamu alaykum brothers
and sisters, As-salamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa
barakatuh.
Ahlan wa sahlan wa marhaban bikum, welcome to
the Sunday class, welcome to Al Khadim.
First and foremost we praise Allah subhanahu wa
ta'ala who has given us this opportunity,
who have given us the health and the
spare time for us to spend for His
way, for His cause, to seek His pleasure,
to seek knowledge of Allah subhanahu wa ta
'ala, to seek true knowledge, beneficial knowledge inshallah,
that we are attending circles of knowledge, classes
that remind us about Allah subhanahu wa ta
'ala.
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala mentions, Fazkuruni adhkurkum.
Remember me, then I will remember you.
If you remember Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala,
then Allah will remember you as well.
So unfortunately brothers and sisters, again the Sheikh
Husseini, Dato' Sheikh Husseini, Hafizallah, may Allah preserve
him, he is attending another affair, another event
outside of Malaysia, I think not outside of
Malaysia, at least outside of peninsular Malaysia, so
he is somewhere in the west, no in
the east, in east Malaysia, so attending something
more important, some invitation of da'wah and
activities and events.
So ala kulihal, we don't want to cancel
the class, we keep it inshallah going on
because we have cancelled last week, because of
due to perfecting my salah course, alhamdulillah ala
kulihal.
So alhamdulillah brothers and sisters, Allah always reminds
us in the Quran, all of the reminders
that we get from Allah subhanahu wa ta
'ala, how do we get connected to Allah
subhanahu wa ta'ala is by his book,
the revelation.
And the final revelation which is the Quran,
Al-Quran Al-Azim.
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala mentions in the
Quran, verily
those who are reciting the book of Allah,
and then he prays, establish the prayers, and
then he spends in the way of Allah,
whether it is secretly or apparently.
So this person is hoping from Allah a
transaction that was never lost, that will never
be in lost, a transaction, that will never
ever, if you see the word lan in
Arabic, which means it will never happen, lan.
So subhanallah, those who recite the Quran.
So Allah emphasizes first and foremost, the first
thing of the a'mal salihat is reciting the
Quran.
And we have a lot of ahadith from
the Prophet s.a.w. mentioning about the
reciter of the Quran, the companions of the
Quran, the sahibul Quran.
So a lot of praises for those who
are always with the Quran, who are the
companions, the sahibul Quran.
The Prophet s.a.w. said, it will
be said in the day of judgment to
the companions of the Quran.
Imagine in the day of judgment when everybody
is gathered.
So this reciter of the Quran, this companion
of the Quran will be called, will be
raised, will be called in front of everybody,
looking at him.
What do we say to him?
Read.
Read and rise.
And then you read slowly.
Like you have used to do in the
dunya.
Like you have recited as you recited in
the Quran when you were still alive in
this world.
Verily the last point, the last level that
you will be raised, and where are you
going to stop?
And the last place that you will be
settled, you know the levels of jannah, you
will be raised until the last place you
will be stopped at the place where the
last ayat that you recited in this world.
Subhanallah.
So everybody will see, subhanallah, this is the
sahibul Quran.
This is the one who spends his time
day and night with the Quran, who not
only recite the Quran, merely reciting the Quran,
but of course he has to understand whatever
he has recited and also apply whatever the
commandments of Allah inside the Quran.
You see, those, which is more better?
Those who recite the Quran beautifully, but he
doesn't understand even a single word or a
single phrase from the Quran or a single
command from the Quran, or those who, you
know, can recite the Quran here and there
a little bit, but not that perfect, but
he does all the commands from Allah in
the Quran.
So this is the person that is more
to be called as a sahibul Quran.
And the scholars have mentioned, this is just
a compilation, how do we achieve this status,
the companions of the Quran, as sahibul Quran?
So there are a few things that we
can do.
The first and foremost is to recite the
Quran.
Qiraatul Quran, tilawatul Quran.
Every day, without fail, we are reciting the
Quran, even though some small portion of the
Quran, but never leaving one day without reciting
the Quran.
That's the first, which is reciting the Quran.
Qiraatul Quran.
Those who we have given the Kitab, the
Quran, and he recited it with truthful recitation,
with the true recitation.
This is in Surah Al-Baqarah, the first
number, 121.
So these are one of the characteristics of
the sahibul Quran.
First is they recite the Quran, day and
night.
And the second characteristic is that he or
she strives to memorize some portions of the
Quran.
You don't have to be a hafidhul Quran,
memorize the whole thing.
Some of the sahaba, the companions even, they
don't memorize the whole Quran, but they understand
the whole Quran.
Of course, there are a lot of the
companions, they memorize, but the most important thing
is that they apply all of the messages
of the Quran in their daily lives.
So for us as well, we need to
at least show to Allah that we try
to memorize at least one or two portions
of the Quran.
Maybe you can memorize more than the normal
surahs, so that in your salah you can
apply it in your prayer, so that your
prayer will be more dynamic, not only routine.
The common surahs that you repeat all over
again, you want to race through the prayer,
you want to rush the prayer.
So this is taking away the khushu of
the salah.
So when your prayer is dynamic, you plan
your recitation.
You plan, ok, today inshallah in isha prayer,
let's say I become an imam for example,
I will recite this surah.
So you try your best to prepare yourself.
Let's say, oh tonight I'm going to wake
up at night and I will pray the
tahajjud, so I will plan my recitation of
the Quran, so that I have motivation to
have the Quran in my memory and in
my chest.
That is the second one, is to strive
to memorize portions of the Quran, if not
all.
And the third one is that we learn
how to recite the Quran properly.
Meaning, improving our recitation.
Because this recitation, the knowledge of recitation which
we call a tajweed, this is not merely
a subject that the ulama has derived, it
is derived from the Prophet, how he recited,
how he used to recite to the sahaba,
to the companions.
So the ways of recitation, it was preserved.
The qaida, the principles, the ahkam, the rulings,
were preserved in this subject which we call
a tajweed.
So learning tajweed is like you are learning,
improving your recitation to match, to at least
exemplify by the Prophet, to be as near
as possible to the recitation of the Prophet.
So this is a tajweed.
So strive ourselves to recite more of the
Quran, to learn about the A'arabul Quran,
the scholars say, learning about the A'arabul
Quran which means the tajweed of the Quran.
And the fourth one, the fourth one brothers
and sisters, is of course, if you are
merely reciting it without understanding it, it is
like you are reading a newspaper of another
language that you don't understand.
So fourth is to understand the Quran.
And you understand what is the message behind
this ayah that I am reciting, that I
am memorizing.
So you show that you know Allah commands
you to do something, some ayahs are ayahs
of hukum, some rulings.
So Allah says, maybe some of the ayahs
Allah says, So you establish the prayer.
Establish the prayer at the best level as
possible.
And for example, you give charity, purify your
wealth with zakah, and etc.
Allah commands you to perform the hajj and
umrah.
So these commands or these ayahs that we
memorize, that we recited, try our level best
to at least understand the general meaning, if
not, the tafsir behind it.
You can always go to the tafsir, to
the explanation, to the reflections of the ayah,
with the scholars, with the teachers.
But by yourself, when you are reciting it,
at least you know the basic translation of
the Quran.
So that is number four.
And the last one, of course, when we
understand the Quran, we have to apply it
in our life.
Al-amalu bil-Quran.
And applying whatever that we have learned, from
the do's and the don'ts, from the basic
principles of Islam, of the religion in our
daily lives.
So, this is the five characteristics of the
sahib ul-Quran.
Somebody who lives with the Quran.
And of course, all of this, if you
complete these five, the basic responsibility of a
person, of a Muslim, is also to convey
the messages, whatever they have learned.
Walhamdulillah, as the Prophet s.a.w. said,
khayrukum man ta'allam al-Qur'ana wa
'allamahu.
The best among you are those who learn
the Quran and teach it to others.
Walhamdulillah.
So, welcome brothers and sisters to our Sunday
class.
We are using this book as our syllabus.
Our precious sprouts.
Not Brussels sprouts.
Some of the brothers say, oh Brussels sprouts.
No, Brussels sprouts is the food.
So, our precious sprouts, mashallah, from the author,
Shaykh Muhammad al-Jibali.
He is not well now, since I know
a few years ago.
He is not well.
We know the author personally.
He came here a few times.
Maybe once, I think.
He is a good friend of Shaykh Hussaini.
So, walhamdulillah, we make dua for him.
May Allah s.w.t. give him cure
and make the affairs easy.
So, we are now in the conclusion, right?
Right, brother?
Is it we are in the conclusion?
Right?
The conclusion?
The conclusion?
I think, page number 134.
At least that I know from what the
Shaykh has written here.
Right?
So, we are in the chapter of deterrence
of good.
We have discussed before about the things that
we wonder why does our ruqya, our recitation
of the Quran, to remedy our child or
the sick doesn't give any effect.
So, we know that sins have effects too
in our daily lives.
Sins can deter some things, the good that
we want to do, that we affect, so
that it becomes weakened.
I forgot that ayat.
Those who commit, don't remember Allah s.w
.t, they will live in a life that
is very, very restricted.
As Allah s.w.t said, وَمَنْ أَعْرَضُ
عَن ذِكْرِ فَإِنَّ لَهُمْ عِيشَةً ضَنكًا Those who
don't want to listen to whatever Allah has
reminded them, they will live in this life
that is very, very restricted, very constricted.
Everything is not happening in their way.
So, this is what Allah s.w.t
said in the Quran, in surah Taha.
So, sins have effects upon the believer, at
least upon the Muslims.
You can read this one book by Imam
Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah.
This is a very, very, for me, I
think it's a very, very great book.
It's called, there are two titles, one title
is called الداء والدواء The Sickness and the
Cure الداء والدواء It is already translated in
English, I think.
And another title is الجواب الكافي The Comprehensive
Answer By Imam Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah It's
a very, very good book.
It tells you about, he lists down all
of the effects of the sins.
One of the effects is that your life
becomes constricted.
Your life becomes hard, difficult.
You don't feel that rest in your heart.
So, let us go through the conclusion.
Alhamdulillah, the sheikh, I heard that last class
was the double sheikhs, right?
Ustad Azli and Ustad Sheikh Hussain as well,
right?
Alhamdulillah.
So, let us continue.
I will just read from the book, inshallah,
and if there's some commentary or questions, we
can keep it at the final session, Q
&A.
Conclusion.
Page number 134.
From above, we conclude the following.
From the hadith about the dolls of the
Aisha, and about the things that we discussed
about the angels will be driven away from
images that you put up, that you, what
do you call it?
You show it on the walls.
So, what is the conclusion?
Number one, it is prohibited to make images.
Photographs and video pictures are no exceptions.
Thus, it is not allowed to take pictures
of babies to display them or put them
in a wallet or in a family album.
So, about the issue of photography.
We understand that photography doesn't exist in the
time of the Prophet.
And also, it doesn't exist in the time
of the Salaf, of the scholars.
It comes way before, sorry, way after, 100
,000 of years, about this photography.
So, the word that is used in Arabic
to describe taking pictures is taswir.
Taswir.
Taswir means to create image.
It is the same word used by those
who make idols.
Exactly the same word, taswir.
But it has different connotations and different meanings.
Let me explain.
Photography is not something that you create.
It is somehow something that is reflected from
the mirror of the camera and we store
that very moment of the frame.
So, this is what we call photography.
And also, video pictures are something that is
moving.
It is prevalent now.
You can see everywhere, it is videos, right?
All the lectures as well.
Here, live streaming is also video pictures.
Videos are pictures that are moving.
So, that's why there are a lot of,
not misunderstanding, there are a lot of differences
of opinion among the scholars about the ruling
of photography.
So, of course, there are some scholars that
are very, very strict in this manner.
We will, inshallah, go through some of it.
Actually, the author, Sheikh Mehmet Jibali, also of
the opinion of the stricter one.
He said, photography in general is not allowed.
If you can, we will read, inshallah.
Photography is not allowed, generally, except for things
that is necessary.
For example, taking pictures for the IC, taking
pictures for criminals, for example, to identify the
criminals.
So, all of this, except, other than that,
it is not permissible to take photo.
This is one of the opinions that they
want to preserve, that we don't want to
be included in the hadith, that, the Prophet,
peace be upon him, said, the most severe
punishment that will be effected upon is those
who make pictures, make images.
So, the word used is the same, taswir.
Musawwirun.
Musawwirun describes those who take pictures.
So, those who are in the photography line
say, oh, this is, for us, this hadith,
no.
So, there are differences of opinion.
Of course, using the same name doesn't mean
the same meaning.
There are a lot of things that is
in the same name, but it has a
different meaning in their reality.
So, let us continue to read at first,
so we see what does the Sheikh mention.
Number two, it is prohibited to display images.
So, display images, like hanging the pictures, right?
It is very sad to see many Muslims
hanging family pictures on their walls and displaying
them on the desk and dresses.
We should be careful to hide away all
pictures, even those of newspapers, when they are
not being used.
So, for example, you can see nowadays, people
would like to hang their pictures on the
walls.
So, most of the scholars say, if you
have pictures, try to not display it on
the wall.
Rather, put it in the album, put it
somewhere safe.
You don't like, you know, display it, because
there is a hadith that we went through,
that the angels would not come into the
house that has dogs and pictures hanging.
Images that is hanged.
So, let us continue.
As an exception for 1 and 2 above,
it is permissible to make children's toys and
dolls that resemble images.
However, those toys should be crudely handmade as
to serve the purpose of teaching sewing, decoration
and other housekeeping activities.
This exception should not be widened to encompass
today's images and toys that are made to
closely match Allah's creation.
By Islamic standards, many of today's toys are
classified as idols and should be eliminated from
a Muslim's house.
So, I am a bit, you know, I
mean, I don't know why I have to,
you know, today's session is discussing about this
matter, this Fiqh issue.
So, the best, you know, somebody to discuss
this issue is maybe Ustaz Ali or Sheikh
Hussein.
But I, inshallah, I can share what the
Sheikh has already taught us about this matter
and also what the scholars say, some of
the scholars.
It is said that here, the toys nowadays,
it is really, really resembling human, like for
example, Barbie dolls, right?
So, they really, really do it like, exactly
like the human being.
So, this also, it is not, for me,
personally, it is not suitable for our children,
especially the Muslim children, you know, because you
can strip off their clothes and all, so
you can see.
So, it is not appropriate.
So, dolls like, for example, bears, they are
harmless, right?
They are cute.
So, if you see their creation as well,
how they are made, they are designed, they
are not like we want to challenge the
creation of Allah.
If you see the bear, the grizzly bear,
the real grizzly bear, it is different.
It is very, very big and very, very
nice, very, very cute as well, right?
But very, very vicious and all.
But the teddy bears are different.
They are very, very different.
They were designed and very, very cute.
And then, as the author said, he is
of the opinion that, no, only those dolls
that are made by hand, it is allowed
for the kids.
So, he is on the stricter side of
the spectrum.
So, there are also, some of the scholars
say, it is okay as long as you
don't venerate those figures.
Like, nowadays, brothers and sisters, there are a
lot of young people, they are into animes,
right?
Animes, superheroes.
So, they purchase all these figures.
You can see all the nice figures and
all, very muscular, like for example, the Marvel
heroes and all.
And then, they will display it.
So, they will display it.
This is my collection.
So, this is totally not allowed.
This is not allowed because you are venerating.
This is my collection.
You can see.
And then, some of the female characters are
dressed up in a very, very inappropriate manner.
So, this is, for me, this is not
allowed.
This is too much as well.
And then, some of them, they have these
dolls that is very, very realistic.
So, they carve it as though as it
is the real thing with the painting and
etc.
So, this is all not allowed.
But if the toys is, yeah, sorry.
Anything you like, a wild bird or a
lion or a leopard.
Why is this wrong?
I don't understand.
Okay, because of the, you know, there are
differences of opinion in this matter.
But the hadith that I will recite, where
is it?
Because the Prophet said, As-suratu ra'as
fa'idha, quti'a ra'su fala surah.
The Prophet forbade this, even though it is
not really, really realistic.
You know, at the time, during the Prophet's
time.
So, when they put this curtain that has
images of animals, so the Prophet said, bring
it down and make it like a, for
the pillow case, for example.
So, this is what the Prophet said.
As though as the images is not really,
really detailed.
Like, for example, backgrounds, very nice scenery and
then there's birds.
You cannot see really, really detailed that it
is challenging the creation of Allah.
What we call this is animated images, like
tigers, right?
So, this you cannot display on the wall.
Okay, I have a photo of my son
in my wallet.
He lives in England.
He works there.
I saw him in Brisbane, in Australia, six
months ago.
And there's a photo of the two of
us together.
Why is this wrong?
Okay, basically, to display it on the walls,
this is wrong, this is totally wrong.
But, keeping it in the wallet, this is,
inshallah, there are differences of opinion.
Some in the heavier spectrum, they say it's
not allowed.
Others say, if you keep it, this is
for memory, inshallah, it's allowed.
This is for, you know, for the memory
sake.
Nowadays, we keep a lot of photos in
our phones, right?
So, there's no problem, inshallah.
Here, the Sheikh's opinion that, as long as
the photo is, first, is halal, you don't
display it to others, they are properly covered,
and it is kept not displayed to others.
So, it is allowed, inshallah.
Does that answer the question?
Yeah, of course, this is a lot of,
it's a controversial issue, regarding photos and all.
Some are very lenient on this, but as
long as you don't display it, display it
on the walls, inshallah, it's okay.
Because now, photo, it is called, things like,
things that you cannot hide from, you cannot
stop from.
Everybody is doing it, and things have become
normal.
Okay, so, things that, because the scholars have,
I quote you, this one scholar from Jordan.
So, we cannot say that he is wrong.
The scholar's name is, if you know, from
the field of hadith, Sheikh Shu'aib al
-Na'ud, rahimahullah.
So, he is one of the great scholars
of hadith.
So, among his works, he does the tahqeeq
for sharh al-sunnah of Imam al-Baghawi.
So, that book is very, very comprehensive, comprises
of the deen of Islam, from the start
to the end.
So, he does the tahqeeq.
So, he is one of the great scholars
of Jordan.
So, he is of the opinion that, it
is okay to take photographs, you know.
When the students say, okay, Sheikh, we want
to take photographs now.
Oh, okay, okay, okay, bring my jubba, bring
my thob, I want to wear it, so
that I look nice.
So, they take pictures together.
And then, when they took pictures, let me
see, let me see.
So, he is very, very, he is of
the opinion that, it is okay for photographs,
as long as you don't put it on
the walls.
And, of course, there are another spectrum that,
because these photographs may open the doors of
fitna.
At this time, a lot of A.I
.s, so, may cause a lot of problem
if somebody is not in line with what
you do, and they have some envy to
you.
So, they will do things to you.
So, the best way is to take photos,
but to keep it with yourself.
You can ask more about this issue with
the Sheikh, or even Ustaz Adly.
So, I just tell what is his opinion
here, in Al-Khadim.
Of course, we in Al-Khadim, we take
photos, not to display the haram.
Of course, we want to show people what
we do.
Right?
If we don't have photography, for example, we
do activities such as the Salat course.
This is for formation sake.
Just to tell people that we are doing
good.
We are promoting good.
So, support us as well.
So, come to us.
Learn with us.
That's all.
So, we can discuss more about this.
So, we will continue first, So, number three.
In analogy to three above, I know this
opinion of the Sheikh is quite strict, but
let us listen to the Sheikh first.
In analogy to three above, it is permissible
to make images that are needed for a
legitimate purpose that cannot be otherwise fulfilled.
This includes passport and identity pictures.
Images absolutely needed for instructional purpose, for example,
medical purposes, etcetera, etcetera, and so on.
Number five.
The prohibition is more emphasized in the case
of images that make anti-Islamic propaganda or
call to corruption.
We see that modern toys and dolls being
mostly made by non-Muslims project and emphasize
cultures and ideologies alien to Islam.
And among the worst types of dolls populating
the Muslim houses are Barbies, as I mentioned
before.
The female dolls shaped after a lewd Western
taste for sensual women.
We would never want to deprive our children
from the company and care of the angels
of mercy.
Yet, this is exactly what happens and we
fill their rooms and our houses with images
and idols.
Of course, as we mentioned before, things that
is obviously prohibited displaying the aura for men
especially, it is not allowed.
You can give your child dolls that doesn't
really look detailed, right?
Dolls that is cute with a girl doll,
etcetera, for your daughters, for example.
Because these dolls will train them to have
mercy, to take care of young children, young
babies.
At least my children, I don't provide them
with this kind of dolls.
We try to keep it halal and cute,
cute, not too detailed, not too detailed.
We continue, Inshallah.
Fatwas concerning images on clothes.
Ibn Uthaymeen.
I think the writer here made some mistake.
The name is not Saleh Ibn Uthaymeen.
The name is Sheikh Muhammad Ibn Saleh Al
-Uthaymeen.
Saleh is the father's name.
Al-Uthaymeen is the name of his tribe,
his family name.
The ulama say that it is prohibited to
dress a baby with anything that is prohibited
for adults to wear.
Garments with images are prohibited for adults to
wear.
So it is prohibited for babies to wear
them as well.
The Muslims should boycott those clothes and shoes
with images so that the people of evil
and corruption would not attack us Muslims from
this direction.
So this is from the fatwa of Sheikh
Saleh Al-Uthaymeen about wearing T-shirts, clothes
with images.
Of course, this is not allowed.
Images that are like tigers.
Some of them wearing skulls, skeletons looking very
dark.
This kind of stuff is not allowed.
Especially in prayer.
It is not allowed.
But if not, just images patterns and all,
it is okay.
To be safe, Alhamdulillah, we wear those without
images.
Alhamdulillah.
A lot of plain T-shirts now.
A lot of plain and nice T-shirts
with a lot of beautiful patterns.
At least when we grow older, we tend
to go away from those images, right?
Alhamdulillah.
So another Sheikh, Sheikh Saleh, so this is
the Sheikh's name, Saleh Al-Fawzad.
His name is Sheikh Saleh Al-Fawzad.
Hafizallah, he's still alive now in Riyadh, Saudi
Arabia.
What did he say?
It is not permissible to buy clothes that
have images of beings with souls.
Such as humans, animals and birds.
Making and using images are prohibited because of
the numerous hadiths prohibiting this and strongly warned
against it.
The Prophet, peace be upon him, cursed those
who make images and indicated that they will
be severely punished on the day of resurrection.
Thus, it is not allowed to wear a
garment with images or make a baby wear
it.
One should buy clothes that do not have
images which are available in plenty.
Alhamdulillah, all praise due to Allah.
So this is one of the fatwas of
Sheikh Saleh Al-Fawzan.
Sheikh Saleh Al-Fawzan's fatwa on pictures, he
is of the opinion that it is not
allowed to take pictures at all.
Except for, you know, when I say taking
pictures, I mean animated pictures like humans, except
for the things that are necessary.
He is on that opinion.
So, we can differ in opinions as long
as we have evidences.
So, fatwas concerning dolls, Sheikh Muhammad Ibn Saleh
Al-Uthaymeen said, it is surely permissible for
little girls to play with dolls that have
no clear features.
This is the point.
There is no clear features that is not
so detailed.
This would be similar to the dolls which
Aisha played.
However, if a doll has clearly distinctive features
making it resemble a human being, especially, if
it also has motion or voice, I would
have reservation in my heart against it.
So, very, very, Subhanallah, very, very careful wording
that the Sheikh used, I have reservation in
my heart against it.
So, he felt that I feel towards it
is not allowed.
I would have reservation against it because it
would then be clearly competing with Allah's creation.
So, the reason of the prohibition is that
we are competing with Allah's creation.
But, if that is removed, so, inshallah, it
is permissible.
This is what the Sheikh is mentioning.
I believe that it is prohibited to make
dolls in a way resembling Allah's creation, of
course.
Dolls, you know, during the time of the
Prophet, the image makers, there are two types.
One are those who draw, and draw images
of idols, and then they worship.
And the other is those who carve the
images of the idols, and they worship it.
and it is interconnected, creating these images with
worship.
Because, the early people, the people of Noah,
how they want to remember their forefathers, which
are pious, they make dolls, they make idols,
right?
So, when generation pass, so the shaitan comes
and say, so this is your gods, so
worship them.
So that is where the first shirik happened,
after the time of Adam until the Noah.
So when Noah was sent to the people,
they have these five characters that they made
as an idol, it's mentioned in Surah sura
that Shaitan
Almighty that ideal, it is Allah Almighty all
children have.
So this shirik and the ancestors talk about
One of the first shirk, one of the
first association, partner with Allah happened during the
time of Noah and Noah Let's continue This
would be considered of the tasweer, meaning making
the images that is without a doubt prohibited
And if the doors come to us from
the Christians and other non-muslims, the ruling
would be as stated above For publishing such,
sorry, for purchasing such dolls I urge that
we should buy instead toys that have no
images such as bicycles, toys and cars, winches
and so on And then Sheikh Salih Fawzan
said about concerning dolls It is not permissible
to hold possession of images of beings with
souls Except for the necessary ones such as
photography for identity card, driving license and so
on Other images are not permissible to possess,
not even children's toys or images used for
teaching them The reason for this is general
text prohibiting making images are using them or
using them There are many children's toys and
with no images, okay?
I mean toys like cars, you know, other
than animated images The opinion of those who
permit using images for children's toys is weak.
That's what at least the Sheikh's opinion Rely,
they rely on the hadith of Aisha The
hadith that we went through last year, last
week When she was young, however, some scholars
said this hadith was Obligated, it was lifted
because by the later prohibition of making images
Others say that the images described in this
hadith are not like the images known today
They were made of rags and sticks and
did not resemble an animal the way today's
images do and this is more correct opinion
and Allah knows best as for today's images,
they are not precisely resemble Animals, some of
them even moving like animals, Allah knows best
so this is the Sheikh's commentary about this
issue We respect the scholars opinion Because these
are not merely opinions, they are based on
Hadith, evidences from the Quran and Sunnah, so
we respect them We go to the safe
side that we don't We try as much
as possible To reduce the using of images
except for what is necessary Okay, so nowadays
you cannot run away from making images Try
as much as possible not to post your
fake photos On the social media as much
as possible You know Even though if they
say it's not haram So it is inviting
envy to people, people will feel envy Some
of them might cause Ayn, might cause the
evil eye to you Right, and then some
maybe you will be possessed or being affected
by the evil Ayn So that is why
we try to reduce this Allah knows best
So I would like to finish this Bab
but Let us see we have another half
an hour.
So just read through this book because It's
going to finish And inshallah next book I
heard that we're going to discuss about the
Qadar and Qadar Okay We continue you have
a lot of questions brother You can keep
your questions for later, okay, or you want
to ask now, okay, you can ask now,
I think yeah Before we enter another controversial
issue, oh another controversial issue Assalamu alaikum One
one observation and one question.
Yeah, and I wrote it down so I
can be clear with this So when it
comes to Tasweer It's not the method or
the medium.
So this is my observation here Okay, it's
not the method or the medium that matters
but it's the end result So for example
whether I sculpt or whether I draw or
whether I take a photograph the outcome is
the same and images produced and that's what's
Condemned in Islam is the image.
It's not the mode.
It's not the means.
It's the result the outcome the result Yeah,
so that's that's my that's my comment the
question When Muslims argued a certain things like
photographs were not invented during the time of
the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam Doesn't this
imply that certain rulings are time bound to
the Prophet's era?
And wouldn't this perspective also in a way
kind of like impugned a speech and wisdom
of Allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala Suggesting that he
in his infinite wisdom and knowledge Didn't foresee
the nature of images in 2024 or beyond
Thank you for the question it is a
Profound question is a very very basic back
to the basics question.
So the brother was asking didn't All this,
you know as Islam is for for the
whole You know for the whole ages Every
for the since the time of Adam until
the end of times Wallahualam brother Some things
that is not in the time of the
Prophet a lot of things there's not in
the time of it and now right but
so That's why we have rulings for such
as chaos right chaos.
So chaos is one of the Analogy right
so it is important for us not to
find specific Wordings in the evidences so that
we can apply so that's why they are
jurisprudence we learn the usul we learn how
to derive Ahkam and now now we understand
that or because of this we have a
lot of differences of opinion right According to
Your usul.
How do you come out with this ahkam
or these rulings?
So I would say no Allah knows what
is going to happen but that's why there
are difference of opinion because the creation that
you see from your observation it is not
the Intention behind it, right?
It is the result right the end product.
What does it produce?
So this is one way to see it.
So the scholars don't see it that way.
So the scholars say we have to see
You know of at least some of the
scholars it is why some things are haram
in in in in usul we say there's
a Allah, what is the Allah of this
hadith some hadith is uttered by the Prophet.
So we will see why it is Haram
it is because Itself is haram or it
is because the effect of it.
Is it haram?
So a lot of things that we can
relate for example We can say Alcohol, for
example, if the Prophet have to mention everything
that makes you intoxicated he will mention all
alcohol and then If I say he can
foretold he has the knowledge in the future
Allah give him So we say oh all
the eyes all the math and on It
is hard to pronounce to to to to
to to follow that method so just follow
the concept Yeah,
yeah Yeah, that's why we okay so
that is in terms of Allah right there
And what is the cause of the of
the prohibition Jaila is intoxicant, right?
Okay, so that is Known easy to understand
but in terms of Tasweer Just have so
happened that the the words used for photography
is the same But if you go to
other Places in the Arabs Arab countries, they
do use Tasweer Some place in Qatar, if
I'm not mistaken they use Okas Okas, okas,
they don't say Tasweer and now modern they
don't even mention the name of Tasweer They
say photography.
It is a modern term.
So that's why there are difference of opinion
They say no the Tasweer is mentioned in
the Hadith.
It is not the Same as the thing
that is mentioned and is happening now the
photography because as I mentioned before Photography is
merely things that you frame it once Based
on the reflection.
It's like looking at the at the mirror
right looking at the mirror So does it
does it make me a Tasweer and Musawwir?
No, this is looking at your reflection So
when photography is taken is like you freezing
that moment Yeah, because Everybody knows this is
not mine.
This is Allah if I take a photo
of you This is not me who created
you right?
Everybody knows.
Oh, this is the image of brother by
the Mujahid.
So Yeah, I just everybody can do can
do it, right Okay,
yeah Yeah the result yeah, so that's what
I understand I Can argue that There are
things that is not for us For example
before it was alien to Islam, but now
it is common.
So it becomes an other for example Wearing
t-shirts, right?
Wearing jeans, for example, it is not haram
But it is from the Khufar.
But now it is already spread and it
is not recognized as as a specific specific
people's dressing Right so it it becomes Okay,
because when I wear a t-shirt, I
don't represent the the non-believers Same goes
as photography.
So photography you have to see what is
the photography?
It is not the same concept as you
know, creating images like creating from your creativity
That you just snap it just it is
you you just freeze it you just Without
any effort, right?
Everybody can take a photo.
Now.
You can just take photo from from your
phone Allah Allah, right so you can differ
in matters, but as I say Of course
they are darura so darura is you have
to be taken At its qadr If the
darura is gone, you do need to take
photos for example, right?
And of course taking photos of the haram
Taking photos of things that is haram is
totally haram those who are you know exposing
their aura for example Taking photos of people
doing sins and all of course These are
haram.
Wallahualam, you can discuss this more because this
is not our opinion Scholars differ in this
a really a big issue of Tasweer wallahualam
You have any comments brother Okay In
a way Or David statue It
is in a way It is what in
in was the place In Italy Creating images
statues Yeah, it's not allowed to make statues
Yeah Yep
Yep Yeah, maybe now is not an auditory.
So maybe time goes things can it can
change no ideologies can change Same goes to
the the people of know so initially they
make these Figures this to recognize their achievements
for example, and as time goes by They
become oh, maybe we can you know People
are creative.
Do you want to go?
Close to Allah and to worship Allah closer.
So they tend to create things That's why
bid'ah, you know the innovations in in
religion comes by so because of the one
so I think this is not so comes
back to knowledge that's come as to the
basic knowledge can we Worship Allah.
Can we go close to Allah without?
Going through the ways of the Prophet So
this is a method that's why in Islam
there's one principle is Saddle the right that
you close all the ways Towards that that
can lead you to sin.
For example Zina So Zina it is not
performing the Zina is only haram It's the
steps to Zina is haram.
Allah s.a.w. said Wala taqrabu zina
do not even come near to zina not
to say do not commit zina So Allah
s.a.w. these are Fake issues jurisprudence
issue you have to discuss long long.
You can read some books In this manner
Allah s.a.w. you can discuss more
with the Shaykh Hussain I have very little
knowledge about this.
So what I know is this principles of
fiqh is used At least these principles so
that we stop The bigger The bigger Fasad
the bigger corruption and we stop by not
going there.
Allah s.a.w. brother.
Where are you from brother?
Australia.
Is it your first time here?
Your first time attending the class Welcome to
Malaysia welcome to Al-Khadim Because today's class
is a bit you know advanced Maybe you
know Okay, okay, yeah
It's gonna be a peaceful world I love
is We
used to listen to music as well.
We love music, but there are you know
in Yeah, that is the The The way
to recite the Quran as the thought by
the Prophet s.a.w. That's why brothers
Without argument and I respect you.
Okay in Islam The principle is very very
simple and Islam Islam doesn't mean Merely peace
like salam salam.
So Islam means derived from aslamah It means
you you submit to Allah right you submit
to whatever that Allah tells you so when
when we want to go back to the
basics, so we have to go back to
what Allah said and What the Prophet said
this is the basic principle of our deen
As our shahada I mentioned ash hadu alla
ilaha illallah that we bear witness that there's
no Deity worthy of worship except for Allah.
So we have to worship Allah But how
do you worship Allah is how do we
the Prophet s.a.w. taught us wa
ash hadu anna muhammadan rasulullah So I know
changes, you know some things This one quote
is very I remember We are an enemy
to the things that we don't know, right?
So as we know as we learn inshallah
We will be more you know What do
you say we more accept acceptable except acceptable
Huh in tuner in tuner.
Okay, so one more other brother.
How long have you become a Muslim?
Okay, okay, so I think we go step
by step so that's why they are the
scholars said there are some things you teach
You don't teach these things first you teach
the things that is related to your Faith
first, you know, who is Allah first, you
know, you know the concept of the religion
it comes back Our religion Islam is based
on evidences We don't go to our opinion
my opinion, of course the scholars opinion they
are based on as well Oh
Why do you say you cannot keep
keep but as long as you feel it
it's okay, okay, it's cats.
Oh, yeah.
Oh Yeah, of
course you To search for yourself, whatever I
say You are not forced to accept it,
right?
So you do your own research learn go
back to the sources go back to the
teachings of the Quran After the Sunnah so
that you feel okay.
So it's really the prophet see This is
what the really the prohibition in Islam.
So Do whatever you want to do now
don't don't change drastically because changes need time
and so we I Believe that you already
used to those kind of thing.
This is your lifestyle, right?
So to change things it takes time and
takes Also a sacrifice as well, of course
and takes, you know knowledge Knowledge can can
can drive you to do things that is
you know To the betterment of your life
inshallah, but don't take my words You know
hundred percent.
So whatever that you read Stop first and
try to Go back and now you have
Google you can try to Google first and
try to research for us and try to
ask those who meaning In Islam we have
scholars, right?
So try to ask them sir.
You can ask the Shaykh.
Shaykh is not around You you you'll be
in Malaysia for for long You're staying here
I'll see my son inshallah, so you can
come again inshallah, maybe next next month and
you can come Okay.
Okay, inshallah Don't worry brother.
Okay, dude, don't take all of this and
just apply straight away.
And these are all teachings of Islam we
have What do you say?
We have better things than music.
We are better.
We have better things than watching movies and
and you know all of this alcohol we
we We value other things How to say
this that we value the the hereafter More
than whatever we are spending in this world
because we believe in this world is a
test Right Allah s.a.w. say الذي
خلق الموت والحياة ليبلوكم ايكم احسنوا عمالا Allah
s.a.w. is the one who create
us And this life and death Is to
test us for which of those I have
the best of actions and best of deeds
So Allah s.a.w. you want to
say something?
No, okay You can can use the mic
rather And Allah s.a.w. revealed the
prohibition regarding alcohol he did it in stages
So the first one and please correct me
if I'm wrong The first one is you
know, don't come to salah, you know Okay,
and what was the second one so it
came in stages, yep, yep the second one
was the the first one the first one
for the prohibition of alcohol is In it
has benefit in alcohol has benefit, but the
harm is more than the benefit Okay, and
then the next stage is the the ayat
that was mentioned by the brother Or who
you have believed do not come too near
to the salah do not perform salah when
you are intoxicated So that you know what
you are reciting because you're interested you don't
know why you're reciting and then the last
level when everybody Everybody has that Iman have
that submission to God and then the prohibition
starts.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah Innamal khamru wal-maysiru wal-ansabu wal
-azlam ridisun min amal al-shaytaan Verily, innamal
khamru the intoxicant wal innamal khamru wal-maysir
gambling wal-ansab wal-azlam all those, you
know Darts and darts and Getting luck from
out of these darts Divine divine divine Divine
arrows are divine arrows and these are all
filth From the actions of the devil.
So it's stay away from it Fajr 10
Ibu and then when the ayat comes so
all of the companions they were serving They
are about to serve the alcohol.
So they just throw it away when they
heard this ayat Haditha says that the streets.
Yeah, the streets of Madinah with floor wine
What happened there is so it came in
stages Like like the brother said the Sheikh
said he said, you know, it's all about
learning You you you have to learn once
you get to that guns once you get
to the stage where you know You're you're
it's kind of like a cement.
Now.
Why are you here in your obey?
This is when all this went at that
he sent down the command that it was
forbidden When he did it some people who
were actually even about to drink they threw
it on the ground That's that's but that
was the result of learning.
That was the result of obedience They had
to get to that stage and it's like
you you're you're now in a learning phase
where we all are and you know the
more you learn then you're gonna get to
that stage where you you you Metaphorically get
that beer bottle and you throw it on
the ground yourself that will happen.
Yep Yep You can give him the microphone
Stopping alcohol and stopping talk To me hasn't
been that difficult But this music thing I
can't be yeah Yeah, it's only gonna stop
you I Don't know what to say.
I just Yeah, like the David statue, you
know, it's it's a piece of art.
It's a piece of magnificent art and How
can you say that?
I just don't understand.
I don't know if you've had the opportunity
to go to Rome Go into the Vatican
the Pieta also done by Michelangelo It's the
most beautiful statue I've ever seen How can
you say that's haram?
It's just art Yeah Yeah Explain it.
Yep.
Yep.
Yep.
These are the things that I was brought
up with Yep, you know my mother listened
to very cheap Classical records and when I
was his age, I had to listen to
it I hated it, but I had to
listen to it because my mother played it
and now I love it You know, I
can understand if you say don't play Eminem
and don't play Miley Cyrus and don't play
Pick any number Madonna, whatever.
Okay, I can understand that people get upset
about the things they say Yeah, but music
is an expression of the way people feel
And Yeah Yeah
Our purpose is to worship Allah subhanahu wa'ta
'ala So anything that removes you from that
even momentarily is a distraction and that's what
music does It really does.
I know this.
I mean, I Was a singer for a
time So it really does it distracts you
and so you have to think I mean
Like I said this before you you and
I have less time ahead of us than
the time just gone All right, can I
can I afford to be sitting down and
listening to Beethoven or Mozart in preference to
the Quran Me personally.
No cannot I love classical music too.
I think it's wonderful.
I think the way it comes together is
nothing short of miraculous, but But do I
have the time to do that now?
I don't think so I don't think so
Okay No problem.
We we want to hear from you.
Mashallah.
Very good Of course, you need you need
to learn and you need to go through
from step step by step You don't go
straight with your music Bob Thank you for
your concern, thank you for your comments and
feedback So I guess we we stop here
So that we can digest whatever we have
learned for today So believe me Islam Is
one of is the religion that is very
clear whenever you say no It is no.
It is.
Yes.
It is.
Yes.
It's very very clear.
We have evidences and You know, it's easy
It's easy for us to follow rather than
if you go to other religions you have
a lot of you know Some say here
some say as long as you believe so
Learn inshallah from the basics go back to
the iman, the beliefs part So because in
Islam one of the characteristics of those that
Allah described in the Quran Alladhina yu'minu nabil
ghayb, those who believe in the unseen so
those who believe in unseen so Muslims the
special characteristic of a Muslim is They believe
in things that they don't see they don't
see Allah.
They don't see their God.
They don't see the angels They don't see
Prophet Muhammad.
They don't see the teachings are here So
they don't see a lot of things the
fire the * and * and heaven So
this is the special trait This is the
test for us if let's say everybody can
see heaven and * the angels and all
so everybody will will follow so this is
the price of paradise we want to Achieve
Allah's pleasure.
We want to achieve Allah's Jannah Allah's garden
our paradise.
So it must have a at least a
sacrifice a price to play a price to
pay So Allah knows best brother, thank you
for your comments, so I guess we end
here because it's already 12.30 Any any
more concerns you can you can you can
discuss with us?
You don't go away because of you see
the title Yeah Yeah, I know I understand
You it's hard to digest now, right?
Yeah, I understand It is hard to digest
for me as well when I heard about
this Hukum I I don't want to expose
things but you know for us we are
used to this a Malaysians We are used
to music.
We are used to pictures but Then again
at the last moment is you ask your
heart which is More worth it.
It is the pleasure of Allah or the
pleasures of this world, right?
So this world is temporary everything will go
So that's why we need to learn more.
We need to you know, attend class and
ask questions.
It's okay and then Step by step inshallah.
Jazakumullah Khairan I hope there's no more comments
any comments any questions from sisters?
No, Alhamdulillah.
Jazakumullah Khairan any questions from the Online no,
if there's question I don't want to take
Okay We ask Allah s.a.w. We
ask Allah our Lord Allah s.w.t
that he teaches whatever that is beneficial and
Make whatever that we have learned beneficial to
others as well and increase our understanding to
our religion May Allah s.w.t as
he gathered his in this class in this
hall may Allah s.w.t gather us
In Jannatul Firdaus in his paradise.
May Allah s.w.t. Forgive our shortcomings
Forgive the sins of our parents our friends
and families those who Already passed away from
amongst our loved ones.
May Allah s.w.t Forgive all.
May Allah s.w.t. Help those who
are suffering in other countries in example, Palestine
in Lebanon in Syria in Sudan and all
of the places where The Muslims are being
oppressed and killed.
May Allah s.w.t. grant them victory
and help We end with Tasbih Kafarah Subhanaka
Allahumma wa bihamdika wa shahadu an la ilaha
illa anta Astaghfiruka wa atubu ilayk wa sallallahu
ala muhammad wa ala alihi wa sahbihi ajma
'in Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wa barakatuh
