Salam Alaikum everyone Bismillahi Rahmani Raheem was Allahu ala
Sayidina Muhammad wa ala alihi wa sahbihi wa salam.
We are at the 29th night, the final odd night of Ramadan er
Allah it came as if it was a passing breeze and we are so lucky
to have you all tuning in right now with us 100 largest credit for
showing up for being part of this entire journey with the Celebrate
mercy team. Tonight we will be having Imam Newhall Khan recite
the 29th just inshallah the entirety of the 29th insures and
time permitting insha Allah he will also have a brief reflection.
Before we dive into a discussion and a live q&a with our Beloved
beloved Shiva, Miriam Ahmed. And I'm even more beloved estado sai
in sha Allah, we invite all of you all of you to encourage your
friends, your family, your neighbors, your co workers, anyone
who might benefit or just expose the Quran to them if they've never
been exposed, learn a little bit about the Prophet sallallahu
alayhi wa sallam and the messages that we learned from this
beautiful beautiful Jers invite them to join us at celebrate
mercy.com/recite
Remember, because if the more and more people you encourage to join
and if they are benefiting, right our messenger sallallahu alayhi wa
sallam said he who directs others to a good deed as as the one who
did it. So those people who will join because you encourage them to
join those people who will learn because you encourage them to
learn, that will be a reward to you in sha Allah, and we encourage
all of you to benefit and really, really immerse yourself in
tonight's session, right it's the final night of Ramadan and we
encourage you all to be part of it to fully immerse yourself and
really, really give it all your heart and attention in sha Allah.
On that note, please make sure to like subscribe and click that bell
notification so that you are up to date on all of the all of
celebrate mercies programmings Yes, we are at the end of Ramadan
but that does not mean that we will be ending this journey right
this journey for Ramadan is over but we hope to see you and
continue to see you throughout the rest of the year and allow us all
all of us to reach next Ramadan together in sha Allah. With that I
want to take a moment right just to talk right how are you all
doing? Where are you joining from? Are you excited for tonight's
program? What programs have you attended to this Ramadan? What are
the lessons that you've learned? I'd love to highlight some of
those comments on screen inshallah so please please let me know
this mean love our sister and I even just heard it can't wait to
listen to him and hug recitation even though I completed the Quran
yesterday Masha Allah may Allah accept all of your dogs and hug
them that you did and listen to share como Genovese teaching for
wisdom as always, I mean, how are you all doing the interaction are
you coming from the DUA program I feel like a couple of you might be
attending celebrate mercy is the our program right now which is why
we're coinciding with 100 Allah
please give me one moment I'm going to actually bring up our
webinar sponsors for today.
So please be patient with me as I do that in sha Allah
my second
sister Daniela while I'm while I'm trying to bring up the sponsors,
do you mind sharing a couple of slides on sister bait or Scylla or
brother by slough I can request I'm
just trying to make sure I have all of the dollars from our
sponsors properly because I want to make sure that they are getting
the reward for supporting us in sha Allah
Now almost there
I appreciate your patience with me
Okay, ready?
So may Allah bless today's webinar sponsors, please take a moment to
to really, really
raise your hands say I mean and really partake in this to our
insha Allah. There's three of them. So Bismillah R Rahman r
Rahim our first webinar sponsor of tonight's next session is 29
Tonight is sister Loomis Jannat. Over those were intensely beloved
father Samira Mohammed Al Siddiq, celebrate mercy lover and all
departed Omar members who transitioned from this dunya two
months ago now he will enable us to open the doors for all mostly
mean to create a meaningful impact in their careers and be respected
and supported by their workplace. I mean, for all our Muslim medical
students applying to residency to earn top step scores and top
program match matches Oklahoma mean does that Kamala Harris
sister Louise, I know you just said this door and and we are so
thankful for your sponsorship made this sponsorship of celebrate
Mercy's programming and everyone who is benefiting today from these
webinars be so the Kataria to you and your family.
One more from an anonymous sister. Oh Allah grant myself and my
family the best of this world and the next Amin make my children of
the righteous and with pious friends who influenced them
positively Lahoma Amin and for Allah to put baraka and everything
celebrate mercy is doing in more ways than imagine I mean to Zappo
law canon Sister You are such a faithful audience and member of
the celibate Mercy Family and we cannot thank you enough for your
support.
And finally be absolutely family. May Allah grant the Family Health
Safety mercy blessings and success in this dunya and after May Allah
protect and guide them increase their piety, beneficial knowledge,
good deeds and prophetic character. I mean, may Allah have
mercy on those who returned to Allah and unite the full extended
family and to not offer those Allah mean just like Allah head of
the of the family what a beautiful beautiful day for the Omar for
everyone who has passed me a look at them all genital for those and
we thank you so much for your support of the Celebrate mercy,
family and team and for all that you are helping us do. And if you
would also like to sponsor a full day of webinars Yes, tonight is
the 29th night but tomorrow is a full day of webinars and we still
have webinars on Sunday as well leading up to the night of Eid and
sha Allah. So please if you are interested in you would still like
to support and you would like her to us on screen read aloud entire
Omar partaking in sha Allah all those tuning in partaking in sha
Allah. Please reach out to email sponsor at celebrate mercy.com
once again that sponsor at celebrate mercy.com and inshallah
we look forward to your support.
We are at LaHood but we are at 75% of our Ramadan goal. We are a
little bit under a little bit under the $150,000 mark we need to
get to our full, full ambitious goal for this Ramadan and yes it
is ambitious but honestly that is what keeps celibate mercy running
and going and allows us to put together all of the programming
for this month and for the entire year leading us to next Ramadan
and sha Allah. It is such such hard work such hard but blessing
work and we cannot do it without your support. So we yes if
possible tonight the 29th night the last final odd night of
Ramadan, open your wallets, take out your credit cards, take out
your debit cards, whatever you have insha Allah and please
consider donating to launch to launch google.com/cm In this last
night of Ramadan and even tomorrow and the following day, whether
it's a one time donation or you become a monthly donor, but with
that intention during the final days of Ramadan May Allah reward
you with that intention if you become a monthly donor and give
you so much reward for making that intention during the month of
Ramadan. On an odd night please reach out to celebrate
mercy.com/tm and may
maybe get to the next Ramadan so we can let you know all the
amazing T amazing things of a mercy has done with your support.
If that is not enough, here are a couple of testimonials from our
beloved and faithful webinar audience members we have a que que
Carolyn from Sister Carolyn from Germany I feel so blessed to be
part of the Celebrate mercy community. May Allah reward and
protect the team and amazing deciders and teachers just like a
law his sister Carolyn, and other ones it's just to be law seller at
Mercy has been a wonderful support companionship and education for me
these past two weeks
Although it's not just one but to look at this, so just these past
few Ramadan has been so, so amazing for celebrate mercy and
for all the audience tuning in and we love it when you return and we
hope to see you again next year sisters Avila and one more from
Sister Razia Anna Sierra Dean. The celebrate mercy afternoon sessions
have provided amazing insight in to my Ramadan reflections this
year. They have been a vital and necessary link to the Muslim
online community at a time that many of us are surviving in
isolation, just like Allah okay and we love that you're part of
the Celebrate Mercy Family and we are so blessed to have you in the
fall sister on the edges. Hello for joining us we are pleased to
have you.
And honestly,
charity during the month of Ramadan, our beloved Prophet
sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said giving charity extinguishes sins
just as water extinguishers fire and the best of charity is that
given in Ramadan it is once more it is the last night I cannot
emphasize this enough there's this bittersweet feeling in my heart
because it is the last night of Ramadan and we want to make sure
that we are giving it our very best whether it's going to bother
whether it's reading the Quran, whether if it's standing in prayer
making dua opening up our hearts in our wallets, until we can give
no more inshallah so please consider celebrate mercy as one of
those organizations that you support in these final night and
days of Ramadan. If all of that is not incentive enough, look at
these amazing beautiful donor gifts there is this wonderful
wonderful English translation of the Quran is called the Quran
beheld. Nothing can match the written word of the Quran. Nothing
can but it is said that this translation is so beautiful even
though it's in English. Yes, it's an English and it's beautiful and
if you want that, or if you want the wooden carved sandal or if you
want the hand woven sand or rug or the leather bound Shema L are the
Bertha and English to memorize with your family. All of these
gifts are available, all you have to do is visit launchcode.com/cm
and select the tier of donation you would like to give and you
will be on you will be prompted to enter into your address that
donation and that address in a couple of weeks from now you will
have a gift in your mailbox.
Once more please make sure to like subscribe and click that bell
notification we do not want to miss seeing you for the entire
year. We still have our Friday gems programs. We have a couple of
weekend seminar programs and night programs and special holiday
programs. And we would love to see you all there. So please make sure
to like subscribe and click that bell notification so that you are
still with us and show up. Now without further ado just like
Kamala Hayden, Imam Neha for having being patient while I got
through all of those times Welcome back 29th night How are you

Question. I know you are taking a short break. So while you are
taking that break, I would love to take the moment to and opportunity
to introduce you in sha Allah for those of us who are just joining
us for those of us who may be new down the line when they're
recording this, or watching this recording later in the year in sha
Allah. Imam Newhall Khan is an Arabic instructor of philosophy
Institute. He holds a Master's in religious studies from the
Hartford seminary started at the Harvard Divinity School receiving
LMU divinity degree in Islamic law and theology from Nando Tula MA in
Lucknow, India and a bachelor's in psychology from Montclair State
University. Imam Neha has worked with Muslim communities in
Connecticut, New Jersey, New York and Georgia as a hospital
chaplain, Imam and youth director, and you can see his most recent
project of podcast entitled faith and fine print. And while I have
you all here, I know a lot of you are actually
basically recognizing that Imam Nichola has a beautiful, beautiful
recitation of Hamdulillah. And you've been here with us this
entire month, and you'll be interested to know that he is
actually putting together this class called Quran for
professionals, where you can learn to read or recite and to memorize
the Quran with Imam Neha and one day we can all recite it just as
recently as he kind of hamdulillah insha Allah. So if you want to
learn more, you can visit Newhall conduct comm slash qf P, I'm
actually going to bring him back on stage so he can tell you all a
little bit more about it before he dives into the reflection of just
29 inshallah
Zack a little hair, so I'm still able to catch everybody, I hope
you're doing well.
As newer had mentioned, this is a program that we've been announcing
for the last couple of days. And we purposely left it basically to
be announced in the last 10 nights so that everyone has an idea of
what the recitation of the Quran takes. It takes effort, it takes
preparation, it takes review, there's a lot that goes into,
you know, into reading and memorizing the Quran. To give you
an idea, I remember when I began to recite the Quran, as a, you
know, as a teenager, I sat for four months roughly in front of a
teacher, and will just recite to them back and forth, back and
forth. And then eventually that got into memorization and then
teaching, and then completing my memorization. And I realized that
the one area that a lot of communities fail to actually
provide for is adult programming for learning how to read the
Quran, learning how to recite it, and learning how to memorize it.
So the program that I put together here, it's actually more of a
program that is that is seeking to get you out of your comfort zone.
It's there are two number one, help you prepare with your peers,
other people that may be similar to you and their level of reading.
And number two is to get you from reciting better than where you
were before. It's not there to make you into a Hafez, though,
that's more than welcome. It's not there to make you into an amazing
audio, but it's there to get you better than where you were before.
And I think that's the appropriate way that we need to approach
reciting the Quran that you want to be better than what you were at
before. So utilizing phonetics English phonetics, specifically,
we get students from being able to just read very basically into
getting to a point where they're able to embark on a path of
memorization, so we actually teach them how to memorize, we teach
them what techniques they ought to use. So Hamdulillah you know, we
have 20 spots as of as of now 10 spots have been have been closed
off, so we only have 10 spots left.
And again, it's a good opportunity. It's a four month
program starting May 16. into September, and you'll have an
opportunity to insha Allah recite better than you have been reciting
before. Lambda live train chaplains. I have trained people
that are businessmen, I've trained people that are physicians,
basically people that are constantly within a public
limelight where they are asked to, let's say read the Quran or give a
hookah. And it's not nice, right when somebody is saying that
they're serious about their faith, but they don't know how to recite
the book of Allah. Right? And that's what we're trying to do.
We're trying to better our citation, we don't have to be
perfect, but if we're better than it makes a big difference of
Hamdulillah. So the link is where it's at. The only prerequisites
that we have, is that you should be able to differentiate the
letters and put words together and generally flow with your
recitation. So again, that's Quran or other nihon.com/q F p, it's
$200 a month for four months. And then from there in sha Allah will
get you onto a path of memorization Inshallah, Zack a
little later.
Bismillah R Rahman r Rahim Al hamdu lillah wa Salatu was Salam
ala Rasulillah. While early he was having his mind, let's briefly
reflect on the 29th jewels of the Quran. We began with pseudo sort
of milk. And the one verse that I wanted to pick up about Susan
Murphy is actually the last verse, verse number 30, secret number 67
where Allah subhana wa Tada says, pull out our ATM in US Bahama
Komamura for me, decon be mountain marine that all our Atim in US
Bahama como hora, right, say what do you think that if also behind
that Okamoto, if you're a water on the earth or to recede back into
the ground for me, decon Vemma in marine, then who would be able to
bring you flowing water. And I want you to actually recognize
this because in solitude and mulk, Allah subhanaw taala is speaking
to us about different aspects of the world, right, different assets
to the world that he controls. He'll speak about the birds he'll
speak about the skies. But this is actually something really worth
reflecting upon. That if tomorrow, all the water on the world to
would have disappeared or just sunken into the earth, then who
would bring it to you it would be Allah subhana wa Tada. All right,
the water that flows on the face of the earth, the water that we
see the oceans, it's all from Allah subhanho wa Tada. And as
much as we think that we've become geologically advanced, or we've
become technologically advanced, at the end of the day, Allah
subhanho wa Taala is in control. And when we understand that it is
Allah who is in control, then we begin to direct our servitude
towards him, our worship towards him, our our worship towards Allah
subhanaw taala is directed to him because of the fact that we
recognize that he is the controller of all of our affairs.
Then after that, when we get into the column, Allah subhanho wa
Taala says to us in verse number four, speaking about the prophet
of allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam were in Nicola either who
Lupin alim. Were in Nicola Allah who opened all the and this is an
important verse to reflect upon because Allah subhanaw taala here
says what? The indeedy you are upon a high character, you are
upon good character, outstanding character. And he's speaking who
to the messenger of allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam that
indeed you O Messenger of Allah, we're in NECA, La Jolla, there is
a double emphasis here, you have the inner right which is already
emphasizing this, that indeed you la isla de Salam is known as a
llama moussaka or it's a secondary emphasize or, indeed you are upon
and he's looking at this. He's not saying that you are somebody
merely who has good character, but you are upon good character, you
are the archetype of good character, me you stand at the
peak of good character. And not only is it good but amazing,
highfalutin, all Lehmann, and the aspect of good character within
our faith, liberal hustle hollow as the messenger of allah
sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, right? That righteousness is
having good character of people. It's when you have the ability to
react and you choose not to wear the messenger SallAllahu Sallam
also said a lot for in the mock data, that true forgiveness is in
the face of having the ability to react. true forgiveness is in the
face when you know you are in the right. And you know, you can
retort back at somebody but you choose not to. So keeping this in
mind when we read the rest of sootel, or rather the rest of the
29th jurors. You have this theme here wherein the people used to
mock the messengers, the people used to harm the messengers and
hurt the messengers, yet they remain steadfast on having good
character. I'm in a day and age where we live in where people get
on social media and their main purpose is to harm others is to
rebuke others is to publicly call each other out. Having a little
bit of restraint goes a very, very long way rather than sisters.
Having a little bit of restraint takes us into a good place. Having
the restraint and restraint and stopping our tongues and our limbs
from saying and doing that which would harm somebody else is the
peak of good character. And more often than not when we do reach
out to others and we do harm them with our tongues. It is nothing
more than a reflection of the bad that is within me. It is something
that I need to reflect on it
Something that I need to rectify so there's a bunch of other themes
and shadows we can go over as we move along in this just in sha
Allah so I'm gonna go ahead and hand it back over to the Celebrate
mercy team Zach the lovely
just kidding mom the whole what a wonderful wonderful night I'm so

I'm gonna take a quick moment
to also highlight a couple of this awesome
awesome, awesome.
Let's see a couple of these awesome comments that we're
getting from the audience. Brother Daniel, Daniel from Chicago. I'm a
paramedic Masha Allah for the fire department watching from work
while I am able tonight is three years since I took the shahada,
masha Allah thank you all for the beautiful programming. We are so
blessed to have you with us brother Daniel JSOC, Allah Hayden,
one more from Sister Lisa Slauson, they come from pa I've also been
pa I have enjoyed each night let's celebrate mercy. Thank you to all
of us have it mercy staff and teachers are hungry Allah. This
one from SR. Saba May Allah subhanaw taala bless those who are
basically putting these slides together. Yes, I actually want to
give a shout out to sister Danielle she's actually on the
backend right now responding on the chat to all of you. She saw
the first few nights of all of us scrolling and was like ah, rather
than I do this even better, we're gonna make slides and she took the
initiative and she put the slides together she took that initiative
and sister Mata Hara joined joined that initiative and both of them
have been creating the slides for each Jews throughout this entire
month of Ramadan, one Jews and slides a day a couple of hours a
day. So please make immense immense to offer both of them so
that all of you are able to read the Quran, visibly and all the
translations as well. In short or Hamdulillah. One more slide when
they come from sister Anna My dear brothers and sisters truly such a
wonderful program during the month of Ramadan. This of course me as a
revert to Islam, Zappala hair, celebrate mercy for your
reminders. What beautiful, beautiful, beautiful encouragement
from all of you and we cannot be more thankful in these final few
nights as we are wrapping up the month of Ramadan Gerakan Allah
Henan to everyone tuning in Hungary Allah
All right.
Now just a few more announcements inshallah. Yes,
Imam mahal reflected on Sudha Sudha MOOC and as well as pseudo
Kalam. But here are a few more common themes throughout the
throughout the years. And again, this is just to keep it in the
back of your mind. If you have thoughts on a specific sutra or a
specific verse, please do let us know in the comments and if you
have any questions on them, do bring them up because we have
wonderful teachers joining us tonight I actually got the message
that Imam the hall will be staying for a little bit longer to join
the discussion. Allah Allah, Allah, Allah, Allah so we can
bring him back on I preemptively said goodbye to him. I feel bad,
but he's back. Here's a couple more themes. So Allah subhanaw
taala is Majesty in Dominion, that all creations Oh God, differential
respect and submission, that that submission results in blessings
and reward while rebellion results in deprivation and punishment, and
that Dominion belongs to Allah subhanaw taala now and on
Judgement Day, you
then it's also recognizing that there is no power except Allah
subhanaw taala is that the race to whom some humans attribute magical
powers. In this case, jinn, in fact have no power at all, and
that Allah has authority is established in there are
humanity's lack of knowledge, and that there is a door to good
repentance will open the door for us to move forward and overcome
our challenges. So here are some common themes. Please allow them
to ruminate in the back of your mind. ponder upon them, reflect
upon them and share those reflections or questions or
thoughts or ideas in the chat so that more and more people can
benefit and inshallah if you have any questions, we can bring them
up to our teachers once the first part of the discussion is over,
inshallah. Now, some great news. Yes, this is pre emptive, but it

and on that note actually today is is a prize day at launch good they
actually recently announced this news it basically means that from
today earlier today at 7pm to tomorrow Saturday, the 30th 20

$10,000 Inshallah, and this is a line that has stuck with me. I
believe it was she a Christian who said this, but give until it hurts
just a little. It is the final odd night of Ramadan. So give until it
hurts just a little today and you can do that at launch good.com/cm
our beloved Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said giving
charity extinguishes sins just as water extinguishers fire and the
best of charity is that given an Ramadan you have
two more nights and two more days make the best of it inshallah.
And if all of that was an incentive enough honestly
there are these beautiful beautiful donor gifts for Ramadan
we have the English translation that was just released the Quran

translation we were using and that they loved it but this translation
is probably even better. I haven't had had the honor of seeing it yet

little, one of the tear prizes are one of these donor gifts or one of
these so please consider donating and Shola.
On that note I keep on reference referencing the 27th night so
there is a recording released of the webinar from the 27th night it
was a four and a half to close to five hour program with have some
amazing amazing to you and teachers. It was a night outdoors
recitations reflection and Vickers and it is the final odd night

made that night are were are will always be so so beautiful and you
can benefit so much and please if you can take the time until

participate and check that out and show up.
Then we have the Quranic journey with philosophy right so pa K is
an Arabic teaching organization and they have this 15 month Arabic
class called
Lead called where you can learn Quranic Arabic so this is a little
bit different from Imam and house class the Mountain House class is
teaching you is helping you memorize and recite the Quran.
This class is teaching you to understand it right so by next
Ramadan if you take this class by next Ramadan take the momentum
from Ramadan so that you can learn and memorize and learn and
understand the Quran and it has almost $1,000 tuition you can use
the code see mercy 35 Fo rk.org/see mercy, but basically
you can take the momentum from Ramadan and make the intention to
learn the Arabic so that by next year when you're standing in
taraweeh when you're joining these recitation sessions, you don't
even need the translation you'll be able to understand the Quran
and the Arabic that is being read aloud in sha Allah. Here's a
couple of testimonials from ancestor Dahlia mava head and a
couple others and you will also see it on their Instagram page.
Just make sure this is a beautiful image but you're basically
unlocking the Quran so that in your both your heart and your mind
so you're able to understand it even more in sha Allah.

sha Allah, alongside of Santa Maria and we have Shere Khan Maria

I'm going to see if I can bring all of us on stage and show Allah
is everyone ready?
I see a couple of the cameras out okay, Mom The hall is on slow Alec
almost said I was I
was gonna sit down we're having to wait to get to know you're
breaking our hearts here. No, I can't believe you're leaving us.
You can't leave. I'm not ready to let you go.
Can you hear me?
Yeah, okay, you're frozen. Oh, what a beautiful lovely freeze
free scream.
I think we're having another technical difficulty here. But
hamdulillah we're so blessed to have you teachers with us tonight.
And if you would like you can begin your reflections inshallah.
Just like, first I'm sorry, I didn't greet everyone. So some
Money come to all of you beautiful, beautiful people.
Mashallah, Imam How's Jessica? How are you inshallah you're doing?
Well?
Good to be here?
Yes. Oh, no, we can't hear you Shiva.
We can't you know what, it's very low, I hear you, but like super
low I have about this. Yes. And
I just think it's such an honor to be here and to learn from both of
you such a such an honor
honors ours and honors ours.
So we've had this back and forth with him. I'm in Sheffy Shan,
where he always puts the ladies first. And I appreciate that, but
I'm gonna, I'm gonna reverse things a little bit here and say
what I just said the other night East before west. So you've only
had, you're in the east. You're literally in Turkey right now. I
mean, it honestly. Depends on what type of a map you're looking at.
And whether you know is run by an Orientalist or not. So east and
west can be pretty subjective. But I'll say this much. I had just
gone right before the announcements. So I'll hand the
baton back to both of you. And you all can see who's more east or
west? And what part of California and go from there? Oh, pretty
much. Assume we don't live in the exact same city. I'm sorry. Is it
pretty bold of you to assume we don't live in the exact same city?
Oh, yeah. No worry. I've been around.
We're near we're close by but there's the South before North
work shift. I don't know. But the
All right, I'll give it a minute. Oh, my God, I haven't deleted
ahead. Because I mean, haven't had caffeine on flavor, and a lot of
caffeine has a lot to us, and then we'll also do that. Inshallah,
tonight, we're going to begin by talking about an iron Surah as
*. And in this ayah Allah subhanaw taala says are the
bIllahi min Ash is monitoring this one that I found on him in any
Alana to any mold up in high Savea. Now many of us have heard
of us sort of how many times we've read it, we've recited it. And
this particular idea and a general translation is talking about the
person who receives the book on the right hand. And what do they
say when they're receiving this this book, they're saying that I
knew that I was going to have a come to this ASAP, that I knew
that I was going to be held to account. And when we look at them
with St. Ron who talked about this idea Subhan Allah something that
they mentioned, that I think is especially important for us to
consider as we are coming to the end of Ramadan is that these are
people who knew that they were going to meet Allah, these are
people who knew that they were going to come to Allah Subhana
Allah to Allah, and that when they come to Allah subhanaw taala, they
are going to meet him, they are going to be faced with the deeds
that they did, and that they believe in him truly. And one of
the things that one of the scholars of Tafseer mentioned,
Chef Assadi, he mentioned, he mentioned that he that this is
somebody who, because they know they're going to need a lot. They
also try to do as much as they could. They also try to do as much
as they can. And many times as Ramadan ends, of course, we have
this immense feeling of sadness. We haven't done enough. We regret
what we wish we could have done. We haven't maybe cried. And as
Pamela in our community tears are a really big marker of Eman. And
that's that's a beautiful thing in some ways, but also it's very,
it's very, it's very sad in other ways, because it causes many
people who work very hard, and who are very sincere and who are very
intentional and accountable for themselves, but who don't cry very
easily to feel like maybe they haven't done enough. Of course
none of us ever do enough. But what this verse is talking about
is having certainty that we're going to meet a lot and at the
same time that we're working towards that meeting. And in order
for us to understand this. Let's look at another eye where Allah
subhanaw taala says that notice
nothing is a benefit or
wealth or or or children our progeny in lemon Atala Have you
been Saleem except for the one who comes with a
sound heart with a sound heart? Now set of OSI and Chef Annie Hall
when you have heard this you know when you doing this first What
have you heard people think that this verse means I know you both
know what it means but what have you What have you heard people
think of Alban Selim actually means
perfectly come with like a purified heart. Miss judgment.
Yeah, blemish free, purified, pure, perfect. No sense. But the
reality is that every single one of us sin, and scholars have tipsy
to talk about this idea explicitly mentioning this is not someone who
doesn't sin
because every single person is going to send, this is someone who
they have certainty that Allah is the truth. And they have certainty
that they're going to meet Allah subhanaw taala on the Day of
Judgment. Now, at the same time, even someone who believes in Allah
deeply, there could be moments where they wake up in the morning
and they think,
Is this really the truth?
Am I really going to meet a low end day? Is this really going to
happen in the hereafter? Is there a year after? And that's a very
normal human thought process. When those thoughts come, where do we
go with them? What do we do after they come?
So the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was approached by some
of the companions. And this is in Sahih, Muslim in the book of Eman
where they said that they have these thoughts. They have these
thoughts about Allah subhanaw taala. And they can't even say
them out loud. The prophets of Allah right? It's almost like, you
really have thoughts like that. They're like, yes. And the Prophet
sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, that is Surya and Amen. That is
pure faith. That is sound faith. That is true faith, why? You have
thoughts, and you don't even want to say them out loud. You're so
afraid of the thoughts you have, that they are concerning to you,
you don't even know how to say them. Now, that's different from
having questions, questions that you need to ask for help to
understand doubts about certain aspects that you ask someone and
help clarify. But you go back to this idea that I believe in Allah
and I believe in the hereafter. And that is someone who has been
sending. And another portion of this that this scholars mentioned
is that this is someone whose heart is pure of jealousy is pure
of hatred. It's pure of arrogance. So that's not not committing sin.
That's not not committing sin and repenting, we all commit sin, and
we we repent and shawl as much as we can. But it's talking about
someone who we are aware of the states of our hearts. And as we're
aware of that state, we try to purify our hearts, we try to be
aware of when we think we're better than someone else do. We
take our hearts to account, we try to be aware of the fact that we
want something someone else has. And so we make the offer them to
be blessed with it, and we make the offer ourselves, but we are
aware of the way that our heart feels. And we're actively trying
to work towards changing and purifying it. And so when we look
at this idea and social half call, that someone believes that they're
going to meet a lot, and they're working their best possible to be
able to
gain his pleasure. That's all of you here tonight, you have been
coming to celebrate mercy in the middle of the night, late at
night, and many of you have worked the next day, many of you have
taken care of children for so long and the next day, and you're still
being a part of this program. Just because you want to be in a space
that reminds you of Allah subhanaw taala and also in a space that
inshallah the angels roamed the earth to come and surround. So
Subhan Allah Shah a lot tonight you will be written of the people
who have this pure heart, this pure heart that really means you
believe in him and you have certainty in him. And we pray that
all of us will be the people that receive our book in the right
hands, any set has scientifically.
Batticaloa fakies upon Allah, mashallah, just like you love it.
And first of all, very powerful reminder. And as you were
speaking, I was just thinking, so how long was our were our souls
talking because you're speaking on so many things that I earlier in a
class touched upon, I was like, somehow, I can't believe she's
repeating so many similar ideas. It's amazing a lot, because you're
my teacher. And so I'm learning from you. And so I'm just
regurgitating. And I'm like, trying to say it in front of you.
So you could say, oh, yeah, you got it. Correct. Exactly.
That's not what it is about, like just a lot. It's just
serendipitous and beautiful. And, you know, I think we're all
probably in the same wavelength right now, because the month is
ending and like you, I'm hearing from people who are also really
worried about, you know, the month, like, having not fulfilled
a lot of things. So there's so much guilt that people are sitting
with right now. And that's why these messages of hope, are so
important. So, and even, I mean, subhanAllah I was I did as I
mentioned a class earlier and at the very tail end of it, after
sharing similar, you know, reminder Subhanallah about just
the importance of not of really, you know, being sincere and
recognizing that we're all sinners and we all make mistakes, but it's
about really having that Yep, pain, that certainty. There's all
of these things. One I mentioned. I also, um, I pulled from a text
that I've been reading, I just really enjoy this book. I don't
know if you guys have read this, but it's Imam Abdullah. If another
way I had dad's book called The Two Treatises mutual reminding in
good manners. So I had shared this the other night on the 27th
as well a really nice lesson about the four obstacles of disobedience
or I'm sorry, obedience support obstacles to obedience. So in that
list of four was, you know, this was first of all ignorance and
then weakness of faith, long hopes. And then the last one was,
you know, not being accountable for what we eat and consume. But
that point about weakness that you were talking about that certainty
with Allah right that you have knowledge of Allah's Mercy about
more than you're focusing on your sinfulness or your you know,
deeds, but that you have this strong faith and I was so Raheem,
and so forgiving that that's what we should be seeking. I was kind
of giving similar commentaries. Anyway, there are a lot of
beautiful gems shared, but have they just I feel like it it's
always a delight to hear you and learn from you. May Allah bless
you and increase you.
I wanted to reflect on sort of Mulk
and so if we can pull up verse 22.
And I'm kind of, again reflecting i My mind is swirling because, you
know, when you're teaching, there's so many things come up.
There's all these questions that we get as, as teachers to just my
DMs or there's always ideas that kind of pop up. So when I read
this verse, let's see here, if we if we have it up, do we have it
up? No, we don't have it up yet. I have it up. So here we go. All the
way Lamanna. shaytani R rajim. Allah subhanaw taala says, If I am
she McKibbon Allah wa Ji hee hee, there. I'm am Shisa we and
honestly Ratan Mr. Payne. Right? So what is why did I choose this
verse? Because there's so many beautiful verses, obviously,
throughout. But I like to kind of explain my my mind here what why
this spoke out to me because I was talking earlier today about how
all this one is always telling us to look out right to look out. And
we are not doing that as much. And this is part of why we have that
weakness of faith because the remedy that you've ever had, that
offers to get more certainty of faith is to actually look out
there, we're supposed to be observing, right? And so I was
just talking about how so many of us if we're really like, how many
of us are our heads are down, right? So my translation is a
little different than this one. It says, as one who walks with his
face stooped down, more guided, or one who walks upright, upon a
straight path. So it just gave me that visual of what's happening to
humanity, right, so many people today walk about with their face
down, right, we're looking at our devices, we're looking at our
watches, we're just we're not we're avoiding eye contact, there
are people who walk and do not want to look at people because
they have this awkwardness, that they just don't want to have any
social interaction, right. So we're, it's like an epidemic, it's
a crises and then to imagine on the day of judgment that, you
know, the the disbelievers or the, you know, the people of that
there'll be punished that that's one of their states that their
face will not just be looking down, it'll be dragged on the
floor over the law.
It's terrifying. It's absolutely terrifying. And so I was just
talking about how Subhanallah that the remedy of us always directing
us to what's best for us, right? So he's quite, literally telling
us to look out to look above because the believers are supposed
to be up right? When we stand tall, we're supposed to have that
dignified position, right, that we are, you know, on that straight
path, and we're upright, and not just physically but also
metaphorically, literally, whatever. And every way, we're
supposed to be upright, right? So I feel like, as you know, we close
out this melodic month, instead of looking down at yourself, instead
of focusing on all the losses and the failures, and I should have
and I could have, which is what IBLEES does, to take away our hope
to tear us down to really become be you know, to put distance
between us and Allah subhanaw taala we have to look out and up
and, and that's why that vertical alignment is so essential, right?
That we really understand as somebody was saying that, don't
worry a lot if you have that certainty in him, despite yourself
despite your needs, despite your sinfulness, but there's this
feeling of like I like you know who Allah subhanaw taala is, you
know that he can forgive anything I mean, if you forgave and we
always say this example but it's true if you gave a serial killer
right? If you gave a maniac will say it's me serial serial killer.
What are the description? Can you have someone who would kill 99
people but because that person had certainty in God, not in himself,
right. He believed once he was given the hope that God could
forgive him and that it's that belief in God
That was the eventual means for him to be saved. And that's why we
use that example over and over again. So that we are reminded to
not let shade on, come into that mental space, robbing us of our
hope, robbing us a distort who Allah subhanaw taala is to us, and
make us focus on all the things that bring us down and literally,
quite literally, physically forced us to look down. Because that's
what else are we doing? I mean, think about all the things that
people do to entertain themselves with and not reflect on a lot we
eat, we look down, you want to watch something, you're likely,
you know, head is in a comfortable position, you might be lying down,
I don't know, people watch TV and all sorts of different positions,
right? But there is this, this focal, you know, point or that
that's casting down at something, right? The phone, obviously, we
talked about that. But whatever it is, that is not
that that's distracting us from Allah usually prevents us from
really looking up and looking out. So I feel like I just was a
reminder for myself, that we need to be better about our, you know,
just our day to day, the way we move about, you know, the way
we're moving in this world, and really take witness witness what's
happening witness, the incredible, you know, gift of existence, and
just the majesty and all of this creation and that's also one of
the remedies that you might want had that offers to help us with
our Yaqeen is that if we, you know, read the Quran, and if we do
that to the Buddha, and all of those beautiful reflections
coupled with the witnessing that requires us to again, look up and
look, look out, we will find our hearts moving towards Allah
subhana dawn that beautiful way and that effect, or that that
other you know, the the, the knifes and che thought and all the
other things that pull us away start to wane if they don't have
as much power over us. But anyway, you know, there was there was more
I had, but I think I'll just start with that because the next verse
is in a way related, but inshallah I'd love to know hear from both of
you. If you have any response to that and then love to hear from
the moment it has reflections as well just like California or San
Jose, we have a lot of comments and questions coming in. But
before we get to those and continue to this discussion,
inshallah we'll have Mr. Newhall reflect on his verse as well as I
believe he has to leave soon. So inshallah we'll hear his
reflections. Just because
I think this is a really important verse to take a look at. And I
think the astute observation, you may have said that Jose is
actually wonderful because here for me, yeah, mushy McKibbon Allah
was yeah, he he right. I think there's another way to also
understand what the verse is talking about, right? So Luke is
speaking to the believers and to mankind about some of the natural
things in life that they see everyday but take for granted. So
for example, the one of the verses I reflected on previously was the
last verse, right, we're in the last row is ALLAH SubhanA wa, tada
is speaking about what would you do if all the water in the world
receded into the ground? Who would help you take it out? But do we
actually bring up that verse back onto the screen that have said
that Jose was reflecting on? I think it was verse number 22. It's
the same thing FMA machine the first thing that's being brought
about is this idea is that there's something something very wrong
everybody walks everyone traverses, right, Yoshi, Mckibben
Otto he he under an AMG, so Leonardo said optimal stepping.
And I think this also speaks to something else, where I think in
the culture that we're currently living in,
there's just there's a constant like
there's a constant push towards saying that everybody is the same
and everyone no matter what you do is the same, it doesn't really
matter. And it may seem like a very
a harmless thing to say or something that will bring people
to light but at the same time, we know that there is a
differentiation being made. Right when you still live in a Ala
Moana, Wallerstein, Allah, Allah, do we equate those that know and
those that don't know? But similarly, as you mentioned,
talking about, you know, having our heads bowed, it's literally
being in a state of Leffler. Right. We're not aware of our
surroundings and people forget that muffler is basically
mindlessness. And it's an individual lack of accountability
for the thoughts that we have. Wherein if we learn to track our
thoughts will make better decisions. And when we begin to
ascribe meaning to our thoughts, and let them simmer in our mind,
and then they transfer into our hearts, then that's literally
bringing ourselves into a state of vicar. Right. The vicar is Yes, an
action but vicar is more so a state, right Alladhina Yes,
kurunegala Happy yum and welcome rude Anwar dubium
Allah says that they remember God on their side standing and sitting
there all states of remembrance, and folks don't take that into
consideration.
And, you know, with Ramadan coming to an end, you know, this is where
the difference of opinion comes in, right? Is it that all of the
shayateen are locked up or just the big shayateen or just shape on
himself? Right and scholars will talk about whether it's the neffs
or if it's the small shale theme, but there was a hadith that
actually came to mind where the messenger of allah sallallahu
alayhi wa sallam tells us that you don't know how to do it Allah He
made me number Eve that the strong believer is beloved to a more
beloved to Allah subhanho wa Taala then the weak believer will feel
equally high. But regardless, all of them are beloved to Allah
subhana wa Tada. So for trying to be strong, if we're trying our
best, then that's beloved to Allah subhanaw taala but regardless,
Allah subhanaw taala likes all of the believers in that sense, it is
Allah and Allah ma en Farakka. And then he commands the people that
be zealous upon that which will benefit you. What's Stephanie
Villa here, wala dodges, right and seek a sense of freedom. Right?
But Allah subhanaw taala and don't find yourself incapable, but don't
tell yourself I don't know I can't do anything. I don't have the
means, because a lot of that ends up coming from an inner voice but
the inner voices are knifes or a shade laundering. WESA is a
different story. But it's from a negative inner thought. All right,
well in Asaba cache on Fela Taku Lo and Neva L to Canada, Canada or
Canada. And if something is to harm you, then don't say if only I
had done such and such what I can hurt the Allah Allahu wa Masha and
far as the famous Hadith and the famous dua is that when something
does befall me Are you that we should simply say that what God
has ordained it? Well Masha ephod and what happened it'll basically
happen that's what he had in mind for in for inlet low, and he's
talking about the word low because I think, um, and I find myself
sometimes in this position as well, if only I did X, Y and Z
better if only this and this and that didn't happen in the
beginning of Ramadan, my the rest of my month would have been fine.
But the messenger sallallahu alayhi wa sallam is saying that
we're in low def, we're I'm gonna shape on, because when you start
going back and regretting and this isn't like constructive thinking,
right? This isn't like a constructive period of saying, let
me go back and see what I did wrong so that I can do something,
right. It's finding yourself in a state of sulking, finding yourself
in a state of just not having beneficial thoughts, right, you're
not utilizing like cognitive behavioral therapy to move back
and re examine your thoughts so that you can be a better person in
the future. But it's just becoming completely fixated on the fact
that things did not go your way, ends up being an act of the devil
in and of itself. So to everybody that's listening. It's not about
and even within the Bronto professional program, it's about
you know, when we teach people, it's not to make the Masters, it's
to get them to be better than where they were before. So for
those of you that may have like regrets this month, ask yourself,
are you in a better place than where you were 30 days ago? Are
you in a better place than where you were a week ago? That's who
you're measuring yourself up against? Not anyone else, not
anything else and not just pure idealisms? So inshallah I wanted
to, you know, leave it off of there. That's one of the
reflections that I had.
So beautiful disciple of faith and even scholar, absolutely radical
Africa. I love that you extended that commentary on that verse and
did such a beautiful job adding more reflections that I think are
poignant especially the part about Casa because you're right I mean,
that's really what we what we ended up doing when we're again
not focused on the west part of that's the other alternative is
that we are in the states of Alaska. So I mean, everything was
really shared was beautiful, just like Lafayette and the same reason
I don't have a buffalo about the state of California is because my
wife is from the west coast. So
bless you.
Oh, sorry. Go ahead. I just wanted to see if it and I don't know how
are you? Are you leaving? Are you staying for further? I have a
minute or two. Okay, sure. Sister Amir. If you are a chef I'm here
if you want to go ahead and then oh, Chef is only here for a couple
minutes. He should keep talking. Yeah, I mean, I'd love to hear
what you all have. I think I think I think the batons in your court
now. Okay, this is gonna end up really embarrassing me that's
literally I'm about to embarrass myself hardcore. So when you were
speaking for both of you, I don't know why but this incident kept
coming to my mind. And it was one because I said I saw you were
talking about looking down and to because shift you were talking
about this idea of training ourselves you were talking about
training and and a lot of times when we when we talk about the
Quran, we talk about remembering Allah subhanaw taala like how do
we become in this state? It doesn't just magically happen we
literally have to train ourselves to be in the state of remembering
Allah subhanaw taala and cognitive consciously making Victor
unconsciously reframing the way that we look at things and
So many years ago, I was thinking about how we can be in a state of
decay at all times, especially in sudden moments. Because sometimes
when you hit your foot or god forbid, there's an accident or
something, the first word that comes out of your mouth is the one
that you are accustomed to saying. And so I wanted to train myself
for that to be remembrance of Allah subhanaw taala. So I started
having people that I loved and that I trust, suddenly surprised
me and I am surprised very quickly, so when they would do is
just like, randomly just go like that to my face or something like
that, and they won't actually hit me, but I would try to immediately
react with like the shahada, or saying some types and some type of
a cook. Well, I'm telling you this backstory is because the other day
I was on my longboard, and like a longboard is like a little bit
bigger than a skateboard. So I was going on it and there was a rock
on the ground, and I hit it. And when I hit it, panela I flew off
the board, like I literally flew. And as I'm flying, I'm telling
myself Do not scream, make music. And in that moment, I then
mashallah to political, I did a tuck and literal roll. I was
Tabata Cola, please say Mashallah.
The reason I'm sharing this is because it took like 10 years of
people scaring me and practicing and trying to be in a state of the
cube so that when I'm actually in a sudden moment, my my cognitive
responses, I should remember Allah and I'm not sharing this because I
think I'm cool. I in fact, the only reason I'm sharing is because
I know I have so many mistakes that I can't share a small one
story. But the reason I wanted to share is because it took so much
training to get to a point where it's natural, and inshallah it'll
be natural, y'all that maybe it was a one time thing and shall be
natural. But I just thought so much of you sharing that story of
like, looking down because I was looking down and I saw the rocks,
I remember that. And then also Pamela, just this idea of people
are not just magically remembering Allah all the time. It's a
process. And we I make a lot of mistakes. And I forget all the
time. And I'm certainly what Stephanie Hall was talking about
the regret, and that if only if only I had done that I am 100%
Thinking that every single day of Ramadan. And it's and it's a
reminder for myself to realize, you know, I only have what's
coming up in the future. So as you said, Chef, am I going to have
more tequila as I keep going? Do I have more tomorrow than I started
with? Am I going to continue to have more? And that's really the
question that I need to ask myself as, as far as getting Roman
voltages that from a fader. Yeah. And I think everybody listening,
just keep this in mind, right?
up being you know, being up on a platform on a screen doesn't make
us any different than the rest of you that are struggling, we're all
struggling in the same way. And I'll say this, like something
very, you know, personal, I think for the last 50 This is, you know,
this year, you know, we decided to come to Turkey, so I'm not doing
tarawih. But I think for the last 15 years, except COVID. You know,
I've been leading taraweeh every year. And I always tell people, it
actually sometimes end up speaking it ends up becoming one of the
most spiritually draining times as well. Because you're giving and
giving and giving and you're not putting anything back into that
receptacle. Right? You're not You're not putting anything back
into yourself. So, you know, just to kind of level with everybody
here. It's that we're all going through the same struggles, and
we're simply reflecting on that. So don't feel like that you're in
a specific place that everyone else is not and it's the same
story of hunger or the love or unready going to the Prophet
salallahu Alaihe Salam. And he says that I believe I've become a
companion of the messengers. I said, I'm missing I believe I've
become I'm gonna fail. Why? Because the fact that you're so
low when I'm with you, I feel elated and I feel that I want to
be a better Muslim. Well, let's switch the metaphor. When Ramadan
is here. I feel like I want to be a better Muslim. I feel like I
want to do better. Alright, many times like people will look down
on Muslims who may not be the most observant within Ramadan, as if
that Ramadan has like a special copyright only on those who are
the most observant. But the truth of it is everybody's struggling in
their own way. And it's not going to be your actions that gets you
into paradise. It's the amount that we're we're that we're
willing to humble our hearts and minds that Allah subhanaw taala
allows us to enter you know, so it's not about the number of deeds
that our companions that never prayed a single prayer because
they were on their deathbed and took their shahada on their
deathbed and they entered paradise while you have a woman that may
prayed all night and fasted all day but she had bad character and
she entered the Hellfire you know like one of the verses we
reflected on today was instead of them waiting Nicola Allah Holyoake
and all them so when we have bad character that also reflects
deeply so you know everybody's on the struggle bus just keep that in
mind and it's such an important vertical I think um, I really
appreciate you saying that because I agree I think those of us who
are in the public sphere anyway Republic I we we tend to have to I
mean, we were not talking at people although it seems like it
because we're the ones talking but I always say like we're in a
conversation like this is all we're all in the same boat we have
the same struggles and so speaking to these realities is really
important because it reminds everyone that this is why we're
all created. We're all have the same task before us which is
to try to find the you know what works for us, which is why I love
what you showed me and because that is just so so powerful and
why Batticaloa thank you for sharing what you know how you got
yourself to get into that practice, may Allah protect and
preserve it, as you were speaking, I was reminded of something that
she comes up had shared a long time ago about the animal world.
And he was like, one thing that's really amazing if you witness
animals, is they are not in conflict, because they are very
present and aware, right. And it's like, if you see a squirrel, you
see, they know where, like, danger, imminent danger comes
around, they're so vigilant because they are actually actively
present in the moment
that they don't find that they don't like take more than they
need. They don't, you know, they don't put themselves in these
dangerous situations where as a human being, we have highest
consciousness, but we will literally walk into our own deaths
or like, you know, we do things that are really crazy, because
we're so susceptible to flow. So what you've shared about having to
force yourself into a practice, to default into the thicket of Allah
is so beautiful, and it gives I think, all of us hope that just
like we train our bodies, I just might retrain in any capacity, if
you want to be a person who has that, you know, constant, or that
ability to, to be in the remembrance of Allah as much as
possible. It is something that requires absolutely training and
practice. And all of us have to work on it. Because, you know, I
mean, like, I shouldn't ask that if the best of the people that the
companions of the prophesy centum were found themselves being
distracted when they weren't with him, then what about us when we
are bombarded with every type of distraction possible, so we have
to try even harder. And I'm sorry, I'm just reflecting on some of the
beautiful things that were shared between both of you but what you
said when we heard about this concept of or this notion that you
know, that the Ramadan Muslim, right the Muslims like that start
practicing, I actually find that it's, it's the most beautiful,
almost proof of a person's faith that they're tested right
throughout the year, but something pushes them to still want their
share of this month. So I actually find that they, they make me
really happy if I don't see you the rest of the year at the masjid
but then you come on, like Allahu Akbar mela and sustain your faith
for you and increase it for you. But you're holding on, you're
holding on to your faith and it's it's coming through in the month
of Ramadan. But I don't it's not a reason to judge them for why are
you here and you're not here there. So it should be the
opposite. Like Allahu Akbar, you're here. Because you know, all
this, you've had so much distraction, maybe. But there's
some that little voice inside of you that that has pushed you to
come and may continue to grow. But I think it's a cool thing. So
Alhamdulillah I love both of your reflections because I can go ahead
and I've already learned so much. I just want to sit in and listen
to you both now. So I won't talk anymore. Well, I'm actually going
to head out. So it's been a pleasure to join the journey with
you all. So wish you all the best in show. May Allah bless you and
your loved ones.
Like
mashallah, what beautiful reflections. Wow. Now let's talk
about you, man. The * of course, for Muslims. That means
only say good things, may Allah bless him and increase him now
that he's gone. Let's say what we really want to say. What we really
want to visit him in Turkey and learn from him. Exactly. It's
definitely
you know, I when he said about leading to nowhere, you know, we
have to really I was thinking about our local Imam too. It is
it's clearly a labor of love. I mean, they do it, they want to do
it. But we also have to think about so I'll just mention this.
If you're in a community where your Imam has been coming or two,
three Imams, whoever they are, maybe one of the charitable, good
deeds you can do before the month closes is to think of them and
give them don't forget them. You know, don't forget the people in
the masjid not just the Imams, but also the volunteers, the staff
that have been getting the prayer hall ready cleaning up the
bathrooms, think of them to with your charity and cycad because
sometimes we forget that they actually that is a an intensive
intensive practice to do the Federal Way every single night
prepared, especially if they're not reading from almost half. I
mean, you know, Chifa, you're half of the you have to remote, like,
practice those verses right over and over and over again. So you're
seamlessly reciting, and it sounds so it looks so effortless, but
there's an immense amount of work that they do put into that. So may
Allah protect and preserve them and as well as you may have for
all right.
I mean, I mean, Subhan Allah, you know, I was thinking about how in
Ramadan, there was a there were there there were a few Ramadan's
when I was an organizer, I was you know, I was working in the masjid.
I was an organizer of events. And it's very difficult for your heart
to feel like you have a minute to rest and enjoy the fruits of the
labor because you're so aware and concerned about how everyone else
is experiencing Ramadan.
And especially because it's literally your responsibility so
you don't have time to sit and just think how does my own heart
feel? Which is so unnecessary I mean, of course we should always
build in time to make sure that we can have that check in. But
sometimes these people who are working you know, we think oh
Masha Allah the Imam of Talia all he's getting to do is read clutter
and and that's, you know, his focus but he's he's doing that
knowing has a responsibility of leading so many people that is not
the same type of, you know, review of sitting in the, you know, on
the beach and looking at the ocean and reciting the clutter and, and
the panel, it's a very different experience and the same for
everyone who, you know, organizes events or, you know, cleans the
bathroom, anything's panela and many times I've spoken to people
who they've, they all they're doing is taking care of other
people throughout the month, and they feel like they just haven't
had time to do worship, and therefore they haven't done enough
and it's panela the reality of how much their worship is and how
waiting even one iota of Quran is for them because all their time is
devoted to other people. Subhan Allah. Yeah, unfortunately, we
don't often hear that message as much as we hear half. Why haven't
you finished? You know, you're
smiling barnacle FBK onpoint as usual, huntin Oh oh, oh, that
means we have to please go ahead.
I just wanted to share all the comments we've been getting I
wanted to involve the audience but also you know, Sister Nora her
internet was disconnected so she didn't get to officially say
goodbye so in the comments told me to send her salons and and say she
really would have loved to be here and that you know she has been
very grateful to have had you know this time you know, hosting these
night sessions and being with you all so we will sorely Miss Nora
she's been an absolute joy as Have you you guys are just tremendous.
I can't believe this is your first time doing these programs because
it's like you're both naturals mashallah everybody together,
masha Allah, most
credible, really, and just like Okay, now let's go to the comments
and let's see what the audience have been saying. So they've
really been enjoying it, you know, they're saying thank you so much.
For these beautiful reminders. This is exactly what I needed to
hear and as well I really needed to hear this and very powerful
insights from when all three of you were talking Mashallah. And
Sister Lisa said thank you for your share. I believe chef Maryam
so many of us are so hard on ourselves that forget it is only
human to make mistakes. It is only through patience, pray your effort
and Allah's help that we can improve. As well as sister Khaled
Said, Shiva Maria, San Jose, you're both so wonderful and
cheering mashallah or fella but let's say what we really think
about 100 comments made me laugh out loud which I was laughing in
the background only good things because Tabata lots of audit Allah
there's nothing else but
I just read I'm so sorry that comment that you just had I
thought she said at first she cheesy I was like Oh wonderful
cheesy. I was like I've done that many times. No surprise. I'm
definitely cheesy so that that works with
SR I name also said goodbye shuffle McGeady that people tend
to forget and visible staff at the moss so thank you so much for
reminding us. And finally, such a clue also said I love sharing my
own story about the longboard and falling and having thicker on her
tongue mashallah very humbling lesson because the first thing we
think is Did anyone see me fall?
Well, especially because I do it in like a jewel bed. I'm like, I
gotta you know, I gotta like make sure that when I it's it's a
gracious fall it's gonna be really fun for all the people to
ship funny enough and when I was in high school, I would my mosque
was like a 20 minute walk so I would also skateboard to mosque
and the exact same thing happened to me. I hit a thing on the road.
I flew in there and I landed on my ankle and I was on crutches for a
couple months.
Okay, that is not the exact same thing may Allah bless you may
Allah bless you so much. Wow Tabata Allah Al Hamdulillah Allah
Tiki I'm so grateful that you're okay, I'm gonna like Yeah, so I
got up and I walked the rest of the way. Oh my god. I will be
praying in the masjid no matter what even if you have to be in
practice for the next month.
Rewards imagine the reward of every inch you walked in that pain
y'all Allah
it will be a witness for you on the Day of Judgment your own
Chava as long as it doesn't testify against me for putting it
through that
wow
Subotic Allah very empathetic way to look at your body may Allah
persecute
and it's been beautiful hearing your reflections and I'm really
excited to hear inshallah the next set of reflections and verses that
you guys have. So I'll let you guys take the stage and I'll
interrupt only when necessary because you guys can
mashaAllah do such a beautiful back and forth discussion that I
almost never want to interrupt. So definitely go right ahead. She
said almost never. So sometimes we're not on point to be clear
about that. I started first. So please go ahead. Oh, my gosh,
medical Viki, um, before I continue, I just wanted to say
what you mentioned earlier reminded me I forgot that, just
like you having to practice to basically react, you know, in a
state of wicked, I kind of did the same thing when it came to like,
any injury, any stubbing my toe burning myself cooking, whatever
it was, I said, I have to have a reframing here, right, because
when you're younger, it's the default is Ouch, that's what
you're learning. And then as you grow older, depending on the
circle you roll with, it could be other unsavory words, right? So
but we tend to pick up bad habits, right? And so people, and you'll
see this people, I mean, I've been in public spaces, I'm embarrassed
because someone will just blurt out, you know, a curse word. And
you're like, Whoa, you know, that's, that's, like, disturbing,
but it's because you're conditioned to think that that's
the only way that you can, you know, react to the pain that's
happening. But when you realize that, that act, whatever it was,
was as Cuddapah, that Allah will do it for you. And there's wisdom
and everything that we experienced, even the minutiae,
even the things that we don't think are as consequential or
irrelevant or to existence they are, because if we view things in
the right, or if we seize every opportunity, as a moment of
reflection, as a moment of, why did this happen to me, why did I
stub my toe? Is it just that I, you know, like, it was, it was
like a faded thing where I, you know, walk past the table without
seeing it. I mean, I can, like, that's a very material
interpretation of that event, right? The metaphysical
interpretation is, I was walking, I had somewhere to go, but Allah
wanted me to experience this moment. Allahu Akbar, Allahu
Akbar, Allahu Akbar. He wanted me to experience this moment of pain.
Why is it so that I curse? Isn't that it hit the table and, and
punch a wall? Because I'm so mad at this happening? Is it? Is it?
What is it? Because that's such a wasted opportunity? Or is it to
say
that I've had I literally have had this moment of like, where did
this foot take me that was haram, that maybe
clearing the feet of the sin of whatever are my hands, if I burn
them, we commit sins all the time with our limbs. So we don't know
there's things that we forget. And that's out of the Rockmount of
Allah that He erases some of our sinful memories. But then, because
he's the most just and this dunya, he tells us that it is a
purification for the believer, right? That we will go through
hardship here, because he wants to spare us of the real hardship of
the next world, which is either like I don't nobody wants to be.
You know, I remember one of the first things I ever read when I
came to the practice of Islam, it literally terrified me. And it
still terrifies me to this day. It was
it was the it was a book about like the punishments of the on the
day of judgment of the next world. And one of the
things that I read was that, although May Allah protect us, but
if anybody misses a prayer with intention, like you know, it's
prayer time, but you choose not to do it. That there the punishment
of an intentional Miss prayer is what was referred to as a hubbub,
which is a period if I think I mean, this was many years ago, but
I just kind of retained certain things about that. But it was a
period of 80 years that you will have a like, there was an ember
may not use awful nobody here, but you know that anybody in that
position that could this could be their punishment that they would
have, like this Ember under their foot, and it would cause their
brain to boil.
And I was like, ah, ultimate membership? No, no, no, like, I
don't want any part of that ever. And so when you read certain
things, you know, Hadith about the job, it's supposed to, like really
like that in your heart, that I don't want that. Right. So I don't
know where I was going with that. I'm sorry. But I will say that the
point I was making was that we have to seize the opportunities,
and realize what's happening in the moment. And that metaphysical
lens is the lens it zooms out. As Why did Allah will this to happen,
we won't really know. But trying to explore that right is supposed
to be doing. And just to add to that, you know, there's a Hadith
of the Prophet sallallahu they were send them about how even the
prick of a thorn can be a means of our forgiveness, you know, any any
any pain, any any sadness, any anxiety, any mental stress. It can
be a means of our forgiveness. Our ranks raise our joy answered and
Assetto Corsa you speak so beautifully about having
hoping Allah so often. And I'm so grateful that you talked about the
reality of being aware of the punishment to, I mean, any moment,
you know that, that that that we experience of pain or a trial, it
can be a means of our forgiveness because we don't want anything to
be near any type of punishment, and also a means of our ranks
raise and it means of our accepted and maybe a protection. I was
thinking about how there was a day that I was, everything was going
wrong. I mean, everything's just kept happening, I kept getting
stopped. And I was so frustrated. And I was running late because of
one thing after another. And I was walking on my college campus at
this time. And subhanAllah as I was walking past a tree, an
enormous branch broke off right in front of me, like literally an
incred an entire branch of the tree fell right in front of where
I had walked.
I could have been right there if Allah did not have me, held up in
multiple places and like, bonk my ankle and hit my elbow and drop
everything out of my bag and wonder where the other person
else's meat is. All of those things happened. And I got to the
I was so frustrated. I get to this moment, and I'm just seeing that a
tree branch has fallen directly in front of me and thinking if I had
been right there, I don't think I would be breathing.
Allah subhanaw taala is so merciful, even in our hardship. He
is so merciful even in what we see as wrong. What we see as tests.
You don't know what is a greater test that he's protecting you from
you don't know what he's actually preventing from coming to use have
had a lot of His mercy. Allahu Akbar Subhan Allah hum did Allah
you are protected from that Shiva. Oh my gosh, that's just
incredible. And I'm so glad you shared that reflection. And
actually, as you were speaking, I initially I was smiling because
Subhan Allah was telling you, we're on the same wavelength that
our souls are literally communicating I, I said, almost
verbatim what you just shared about, you know, the importance of
knowing that even the prick of a thorn I mean, you can go back and
listen to my clubhouse. But I said all this stuff. And I even said
that, Allah so generous, that people forget our worries and our
concerns, our thoughts, the things that depress us the things that
that we grieve for, he also rewards us because sometimes, you
know, we again, we forget that a lot he, I mean, he he's witnessing
our struggles, and so not to diminish that pain of all types of
emotional or physical, our purification, you know, the means
of purification. And sometimes people only think of things like
physically like, Oh, if I get sick, or if I have an injury, I'm
being purified, a ski is happening. There's a, you know,
because it's written very clearly, but there is the emotional pain,
there is the stress, there's all those things that when you're
sitting and you're really very good, but you're still pained by
it, you know, anxiety if you're burying it because you have Topcon
you believe in Elon you except his decree and you're submitting and
surrendering, but it still pains you what is so Kadeem and so Rahim
that he is also rewarding you for that so it's just amazing
mashallah, like I said we're just like I don't know there's this
wavelength between us Tabata?
No May Allah bless you because it's really it's so I feel like
we're it's just allows for just ease in terms of you know, the
flow that we're just flowing
by when we aren't on night, potentially, potentially, Laila to
catch on.
Bless you. So until I'm a guy, I really am eager to hear your next
reflections. I'm going to quickly go through mine which is verse Oh,
wait, I wrote it down here. I'm sorry. I'm kind of always okay. So
PM, verse 20, to 24. So I'm going to also bring up my,
my translation here.
And okay, so this was, as I was preparing for tonight, and I
already picked my first time sort of the mug, I literally will lay
out this happened I flipped the page. And this verse came.
The first verse I saw it was verse 24,
which was, so I would like the verses if you're bringing him up,
I'm sorry, I'm gonna head over who the sister Danielle, in the back.
The verses are 20 to 24. But the first verse I saw was 24, which is
and faces that Day shall be scowling. And I was like, Okay, I
think I see a theme here a lot. You want me to talk about faces,
you know, because I, I just flipped the Quran and it came to
that this verse, right and I this is a different translation, but
you know, scowling so I'm going to now take the conversation, I
guess.
into a different direction. Because, as I mentioned, there's
there's themes here that I'm seeing. And when I see themes, I
see patterns. I feel like Okay, where can I go with this? So I was
thinking about are interfacing with one another, I was thinking
about social media, I was thinking about Facebook, I was thinking
about the emphasis on beauty and
that this is such an obsession with that people have these days,
and I know it's racing. But I'm, you know, this as well, in our
community. I was speaking just yesterday with some sisters about
the cultural difference differences between Northern
California and Southern California panela. Yes, right. And it's just
so different, like, I used to live in Southern California, this is
not no hate on anybody in Southern California. But because of the
immense pressure of the Hollywood, beauty industry. It's all there.
It has permeated our community. And to deny that I think is really
wrong. Our sisters in that region, I know because I live there are
being affected, because you see it in their faces, the injections,
the implants, that stuff that's going on, and people are, they're
buying into this idea that we're not good enough, as Allah created
us, and that we have to take measures that are unnatural, and
that potentially could harm us. And in many cases, they do harm
us. They distort these beautiful faces that Allah gave us. And he
says in the verse right before, right, faces that they shall be
radiant gazing upon their Lord, like, Allah gave us these faces,
and for us to
let you know, others dictate to us about there not being good enough
and that we need to, like I said, change them and we forget that our
faces is how we see one another how we interact with one another,
how we also, inshallah will have the ultimate prize, it's through
this face. But everything we do is so that our face can behold, like
the beatific vision, and so matters. Our face matters, law
law, and I feel like we really need to do better. And empower,
especially women and young girls, like I'm heartbroken at the trends
that we see with even young sisters who are obsessed with
makeup at like 10 Like really makeup kits. And you see, and
you'll see it on it, you'll see little girls, you know, being told
that you're not pretty enough, you need to wear eyeliner and makeup
and lipstick, because then you'll be really cute. It's just really
sad. What we've done to to women, and that these messages are
completely now you see so many women buying into them. So I just
I'm sorry, because the verses I didn't even really cover them.
Please forgive me. I just wanted to tie in the previous discussion
and kind of the theme that I was, you know, seeing or witnessing
unfold in front of me and even the first verse that you had from
South Africa. It wasn't related to the physical face, but
it's powerful. It sounds like okay, I feel like we need to go
with this with somewhere, but I'd love your reflections shifa,
please
say when you were sharing myths about Botox and you know, fillers
and on tick tock, there have been so many trends from you know,
young people and I know you're very aware of this, just
there's this idea that's like,
celebrate your body, you know, we want to celebrate you you do you
you do what makes you happy? But like, Why? Why is there a
celebration of plastic surgery when you're 17? Why is there a
celebration of get starting to get Botox so that you don't get
wrinkles? When you're 21 this is normal. And for for us, I think as
a society, we need to take a step back because there is an aspect of
like, yes, you know, every person is individually responsible for
the decisions that they make, and inshallah I'd love to talk about
that in a minute. But prior to that, as a society, we have very
specific colonial beauty standards. So we're seeing more
and more girls change the shape of their noses to be a more
Eurocentric nose and then we're celebrating when she supports her
own body's decisions, her love for herself when she invests in
looking more white, like why why are we celebrating someone
changing how Allah created them and, and a physical reminder of
their heritage and their background and their, you know,
whatever that entails for them, so that that they can look like
someone else. And subhanAllah you know, the fact that there is such
a support
In a push for this, obviously, we can talk about the consumer
industry. And we can talk about the revenue that goes into
everything in a SATA Hussite. And I had a discussion at the woman's
conference, when we talked about the song that you mentioned, and
how many of these things that are talked about as women's
empowerment are actually written by men. They are orchestrated by
men, they are scripted by men. They are planned by men. And these
are men who have a lot of money and a lot to gain in terms of
power and money from these decisions that impact women. And
so when we look at this as a society, obviously, we need to
think about it. But let's focus on Muslim woman in particular. And
this is something that I'm so grateful instead of Jose actually
talks about and that is women's access to knowledge, woman role
modeling that for other women and ensuring that the community role
models that celebrate mercy is an excellent example of this. May
Allah bless you all celebrate mercy, you're very intentional
about ensuring that every that that many segments of the
community are actively represented, which is so
important. And that's not always the norm in our community. So
thank you so much for doing that. But I think as a community, we
need to ask ourselves if our 10 year old girls or a 12 year old
girls are 17 year old girls are 2123 2835 year olds, women feel
like they need to change who they are externally. What does that say
about our community, because
if we are not providing woman places where they feel like they
can nurture themselves, like they can find that internal connection
with Allah subhanho wa taala. And with a community of women who feel
like they can understand what they're going through, they can
support them through the process, a community which sees their
struggles and honors them, and allows women to feel like the
beautiful example that the Prophet salallahu Alaihe Salam set where
women were taught to be teachers where teachers were teaching men
and women when we see this example physically when women see other
women as Adi S, which by the way you can now download on audio dot
a PP QA ra h, if somebody app, you can download it on Apple and
Google Play sports for free over 60 Woman Quran reciters from
around the world. But when women see other women in these spaces,
and it's not about what do you look like? It's about what are you
doing? How are you feeling? You're going a woman is going through a
divorce a woman is now a single mother, a woman is going through
abuse a woman is going through feeling like she is dealing with
so much hate from her family or a convert who has been kicked out?
And does she even have a place to pray in the masjid? I mean, when
we start addressing these issues in our community, and Shahla, we
can start impacting the way that women feel internally. And yes,
again, like every woman has her own responsibility. Every woman
has to, you know, work on the decision that she's not going to
be impacted by these messages. But how are we not going to be
impacted by those messages if we're surrounded by them inside of
the masjid and outside of the masjid. And unfortunately,
oftentimes, the way that we're surrounded by them in the masjid,
and I will say this very respectfully, is that there is
such an obsession on hijab, oftentimes when it comes to
women's issues, that because that's the only thing we really
focus on for women. It is about her physical look, he gem is
completely physical, even as it hides the physical, yes, it hides
our physical for what is internal, absolutely, and only for the sake
of less penalty, either the whole purpose of hijab is worship to
Allah. But when that's all that we focus on in the community for
women, and we don't focus on building our hearts, nurturing our
souls, building connections, seeing strong women who are
teachers, and lecturers and Quran writers and scholars and when we
are not given access to that as well, I don't know how we expect
women in this sea of constant bombardment. 24/7 on the phone, I
mean, at least when we were growing up, you you could you
could just connect, you know, that was television, you not everyone
even had one, but now it's kinda it's in your home, it's everywhere
and and being able to disconnect from that, where do you even
disconnect to, for our community space to be able to create that
type of, you know, place where we're at a sister can come in
broken and like feeling like she hates herself, and feeling like
she doesn't feel the beauty that everyone else around her has. And
yet she can leave knowing that she is beautiful, because she has the
light of Eman and that is true beauty has the light of character
to other people. And that is true beauty. This honoring her for who
she is, allows, I think truly women to step back and realize you
are honored and nurtured and cherished here as you are. And
that's so different from the message of in society. You have it
so you should want it and
And panela that that I think is something that we need to work on
truly because especially when we say, hijab is truly your most
important form of worship. As a Muslim woman, it is so painful,
especially because I know many women who have never felt more
sexualized than in the Muslim community in hijab. That's a
conversation that we need to process to address in ways that
actually uplift women. When it's panela. We are dealing with so
much going outside of going outside of the house of Allah.
Allahu Akbar, I just, I love you.
May Allah bless you, Hola. Hey, we need this. Just these reminders,
if you see the comments, mashallah, and I'm just sitting
here nodding the entire time. Yes, yes, yes, say this, because people
need to hear this, especially this point about how confusing of a
message it is right? When we are told constantly. And if you look,
even in the earlier generation, the process and he just didn't
come until I don't remember exactly what year was a year 1011.
But it didn't come for a long time, because of what was going on
wasn't obsessed about the appearances of people in
outwardly, he was concerned about the character of people inwardly.
And that is the starting point. That's exactly what she was
saying. The starting point for every human being coming in to our
community should be let's beautify your inward state, let us edify
you let us help to redirect you to these beautiful messages of our
deen, that is going to help you to build that internal light. And
then all the rest will come when it comes. But that's not what what
you should be concerned with in the beginning. And I think this
point is very real, because what's happening is, instead of having
spaces for women to come, and we can do this, when they come, as
you said, they're either getting the same message, but in a
different form, because like you said, if you got it flaunted is
almost identical to you should wear hijab, because you're a
Muslim woman, right? Because that's what's expected of you. So
it's the hyper focus on the outer eye, external, leaving the
internal completely neglected. And then that's when they get sucked
into the messages outside which say, what it's not the hijab is
the the last thing you know, the society is going to focus on, it's
the opposite, right? Take it all off, unveil. And then look at
every, you know, part of you and examine it and find every flaw and
then fix it because you're not good enough, right? So it's like,
you're almost throwing them to the wolves, instead of, you know,
bringing them in and creating those safe spaces where women can
really just realize that Allah created them for a much higher
purpose. And it's not at all about how they look. It's not at all
about that. It's about you know, who they are within. So I just
love everything you shared about it all began, I saw that I came in
and then she left I'm sorry, I almost never wants to come in. And
then I said something. And then she came and I was like, oh,
that's what she
wanted to join into this beautiful, beautiful discussion
because you guys have raised such incredible points. And this is
such an important point. I feel like you are addressing the pain
of so many Muslim women so many was the moment I felt like I
experienced it in my own mosque growing up I'm sure we all have
that. A woman's faith is simply reduced to the hijab, and it's
like as if nothing else matters. And as long as she's wearing the
hijab, and if she is wearing it a little bit wrong and stuff for
Allah, she's on the hellfire, like, God forbid, you know, she
shows up at Masjid anymore and like you guys said, there is no
safe space for our sisters anymore. And here, Sister Naima
said hamdulillah che for my Emir mentioned that about her job for
years I have been turned off from my message about the messages
where the only focus they have is on a hijab only. And really
there's a commons pouring it I think I haven't read the read them
yet. But, you know, here sister Alima said even growing up it's
time for us was more focused on rules, rules, rules, instead of
knowing our Creator and building a connection with Allah now learning
more as an adult, it's been life changing Subhan Allah and again,
sister Amy said some of our mothers don't even know anywhere
on beyond a few short verses because no one ever prioritize
their spiritual growth and only emphasize how to be a mom and and
a wife. And really, they're saying, you know, these
discussions are honestly refreshing everyone. Supplies is
really, you know, appreciating this sister flute said, I walked
into a Muslim store today wearing a job I was looked at in a way
where whether I was wearing a job or not didn't matter because the
men kept looking Subhanallah and based because of what you were all
saying, you know, they're all saying we need a female scholar.
Muslim was only and that's what we had another comment that said,
this is exactly why we need female scholars in the limelight to
discuss these. I just thought today on how standards of beauty
have increased so much by the external so we're really great
grateful to have this female panel you know
highlighting these issues really putting a bomb on so much of our
pain, so much of the, you know, Muslim community's pains, but
since we're talking about, you know, female scholars, which which
you guys are and we're 100 Allah, happy to have you check out Marian

master of maklumat international audio wintered Subotica ratable
Chica chef Amira, we had a comment here brought me to tears
mashallah, maybe you could take a minute to let us know about the
app in case anyone doesn't know. I'll let you guys continue with
your discussion. I would love to do like Chef Madonna or spotlight
her I want all attention on her. Oh no, please. I would wait
rather. Oh, why would you do that to me? Okay, so as Pamela what a
blessing and what an honor to be able to share with you this
Ramadan, Claudia, which is the woman footer and reciters app. So
many of us have never heard women put on reciters and humbly that I
am so so grateful that after years of hearing woman told me, I've
never heard a woman when reciting the Quran before and the impact of
women hearing other women I mean, I don't know if anyone is familiar
with the foremothers campaigns two years ago that was started on my
Instagram channel. It's just at THG Miriam Amir at the Miriam
Amir, for mothers was a campaign to have women reciting the Quran
so other women could hear women reciting the Quran and share there
were citations and the impact on that was just so incredible. I
just couldn't believe the types of messages I was receiving from
women who said for the first time in a decade, they opened the Quran
again or a decade they started praying again, or a decade they
chose to wear hijab for the first time again, because they've gone
through so much spiritual trauma and hearing other woman because of
so much spiritual trauma, hearing other woman was starting to heal
that a lot of times hearing the Quran was triggering for some
woman from an ants voice unfortunately, and we love our
brothers so much and we love our male teachers so much. But for
some woman, it was painful, and it was hard for them to listen to put
on even. And for other women, they just never knew that they could be
put on recitals that they could memorize the Quran to they've been
told that it would be better for a woman not to memorize the Quran
because if she becomes an adult and forgets the Quran, as she
becomes a mother or she, you know, never has to lead to we that's
Pamela she is going to be sinful. And so with all of these messages
and Hamdulillah I was so honored to start interviewing all these
women from all around the world, hearing their stories of how their
public Quran reciters on television in international
competitions, judges of international competitions.
Have to do that because I mean, this Ramadan we're so grateful to
have all of their voices now in an app that you can download for
free, over 60 women from around the world and they are typically
abled and disabled because
Has the Quran is for every single woman for the woman who enters the
masjid or and, and struggles maybe for whatever reason for the woman
who was a convert for the woman who, on top of whatever she's
going through of sexism, she deals with ageism or ableism, or racism,
whatever it is, she knows that the Quran is for her and Hamdulillah
we have so many different types of Athena and so many different types
come to the law many times when you open a Quran app, you hear
Huff's, which is very common for us here to recite in but there's
wash and there's holophone Hamza there's all loon there are so many
other types of rewards and you know ads on this panel it's such a
gift to be able to bring different types that are common in certain
countries and not common and others to be able to have everyone
access them from all over the world. How did that such an honor
such such a gift to I'm so so grateful for being a part of 100
so please share it. If you have a whatsapp list you're on pleased to
share with people Hey, download the free app because it's free and
in Shall I pray that it'll actually help. Help Help help
reunite we reignite a connection with a clamp article? Shallow we
have we have comments coming in, you know, Sister Mira said the
second app was released I downloaded it and truly wish this
was around sooner.
Empower through this app. This is a much needed initiative. So happy
then there's an incredible initiative to cycle of heroin as
well this app has literally
as well, why should its purest form Christ apologists like health
care system I'm here I would love to download the app and possibly
recite or climb or revert to Islam and I gave up singing for the sake
of Allah. Allah bless you and let you use your beautiful singing
voice for the Quran. Someone shared with Masha Allah may Allah
bless you. Thank you, Lena. Thank you. Amira. This was so exciting.
So I just we had it. We had a comment here. I want to see if you
want to address it before you move on to the rest of your
reflections. As long as I for a long time, we have been told that
women's voices are our Oh, so if you'd like to touch on that. So
Subhanallah it's very interesting because in the Quran itself, Allah
subhanho wa Taala refutes that notion, because Allah says, and
this is an idea that we can quickly address insha Allah but
there's an Iowa Allah subhanaw taala talks to the Mothers of the
Believers, it's in context, there's a number of verses
relating to the Mothers of the Believers and amongst them Allah
says that was a big limitation for him. He says addressing them
Filatov Donna Bill gold for your malady, if you call behemoth what
will Nicola NanoFab so Allah is basically saying,
Okay, well, this will go into the translation in a second but he is
saying when you speak, speak well, so how is always going to be an
elder when Allah is saying, when you're speaking, speak well, how
can it be Allah if Allah is giving context for how to speak? Now this
verse is the verse which some scholars have used to say that it
is haram for a man to hear a woman reciting the Quran, but classical
scholars, so we're talking about, you know, going to be a bevel we
are talking about a Tada, like classical scholars from centuries
ago, the way they talk about this verse, they talk about not
speaking like a lengthy Heisha, which are prostitutes, they
explicitly say some of them explicitly say do not speak like a
prostitute do not speak seductively in a way that is going
to cause a man internally to feel sexually attracted to you to
increase his desire towards you. This is not the same thing as a
woman reciting the Quran, of course, but some scholars may
Allah bless them, that is their opinion that you know, a woman's
voice in general can cause that type of, you know, attraction, and
it can, you know, with the Quran specifically, of course, the Quran
is the words of Allah, we never want anyone to have unholy
thoughts or impure thoughts, when listening to the Quran. So out of
out of caution out of, you know, concern for making sure that the
way that our deen is transmitted, it is done in a way that is
protected. And that's so beautiful, and maybe that was
needed in a particular time period. Maybe in that time period,
women were not actively singing on social media and not wearing very
much and that was the norm. But we are in a very different time
period right now where women's voices are easily accessible and
seductively accessible as well as well as men's voices very easily
very seductively accessible. So scholars from emammal bu JD me who
was in the 1100s, say, a memo who JD me was a chef, very scholar,
and he mentioned that it is haram for a man to listen to the voice
of a woman if he is finding himself sexually attracted to it,
even in the recitation of the Quran, but if not, then it's fine,
then it's permissible. Jeff been banned.
So many of us are familiar with as a more
contemporary scholar, may Allah have mercy on him. He was asked,
Is it permissible for a man to listen to a woman reciting the
Quran? And he talked about he said, there's no problem with it.
Yes, it's permissible, he conditioned it, his condition was
that it should not be in the same room. His condition was men and
women should be in separate rooms where they're not like basically
together. Now that was his opinion, male was put off so much
mercy on him. Other scholars do not put that condition. Donal if
that and Jordan and all if that in Egypt, they both have the
condition of it's better if it is not done, unless there's a
necessity, it's permissible, it's permissible. However, it's better
not to be that it SmithGroup unless there's a necessity, and as
long as you make sure there's no fits now, but also, I think, for
me, this is where we need to discuss looking at Muslim cultures
where women's resuscitation is the norm for their scholars, because
in Morocco, and Algeria, and Malaysia, and Indonesia, and
Singapore, and some parts of Yemen and some parts of Tanzania, in
Nigeria, in Ghana, and so many Muslim countries in the Gambia,
women are public reciters. And some of the receptors on the app,
the majority of their sides of the app, they are public reciters.
They recite on television, they have shows on television, they
recite the first part of an idea, a chef who's their teacher recites
the second part of an idea, another chef recites the third
part of an idea, then in chorus, they recite the idea altogether,
I've never seen things like this before, until they started being
exposed to more and more Claudius from around the world. This is
their norm, this is how they interact with the Quran. If you
see for Hottel pharaohs, it's very cool. When you look at how she
she's on television, hosting a TV show with two men who are bodies.
And all three of them, they have these super so she has a SUHAIMI
she created an app. It's an app, it's a total unknown app, which is
basically you go through my comments. And I know that these
are like terms not everyone is familiar with. But it's like how
do you recite an idea that's about like a set of risks that bring
sadness? Oh, Allah will quote, I just wanted to see 1107 I'm very
sorry. I actually have to give a lecture in three minutes. All
right, so sorry. So I'm just going to say, this is a longer film
discussion. I did not get into all the rulings, we respect all
opinions. However, the app is for women, by women. So even if you
disagree that men shouldn't be listening, and this is absolutely
no problem. No problem. Just don't look down with the app. It's for
women, and it's by women. It's for women by woman talking about
public resuscitation is an aspect of filth, which also Michelle
exists so beautifully in our history. And I'm so sorry for
taking so much time and please forgive me, I gotta go, I got the
message. Okay. Audio dot app is regular more. So the more they can
kind of go home upon admission on
much
love.
Just like okay, Maryam for that beautiful reflection and for
putting her app on class Hamdulillah we have a wonderful
resource and a wonderful teacher. So I'm glad you're all downloading
this app. And I just wanted to share this beautiful comment by
our brother Daniel, who said that this is so important as our kind
of hair sisters, you are paving the way for a better life for my
daughter in sha Allah. And he also said women voices are so
important, we are meant to be partners. I mean, thank you,
brother for your comment. And we still have comments coming in, but
aside because I want you to Inshallah, reflect on your next
verse, If you would like, just like go okay, and so I had the
those two verses prepared, but I just, I will take a moment to
address or kind of follow up with what she was talking about, with
regards to the importance of, you know, of, of empowering women with
this is real empowerment, right what she's doing, may Allah
protect and preserve her. You know, I just, I'm reading the
comments and so many things that are being shared, I think we've
all as women experienced the silencing the suppression that
hyper focus on you know, all the things that we shouldn't do as
women as opposed to all the things that we can do. And unfortunately,
what that does is it does give us a very limited and distorted view
of our place in this deen and so what I love about Shaha, Madame is
that she is actually reminding us that these are all modern, you
know, ideas, but historically speaking, as she said, there are
countless examples of female scholars, that all of them you
know, these are foundational sciences, they would they this is
a photo of it and to learn to read the book of Allah subhanaw taala.
And many of them had male teachers, even the today if you
want to go through different you know, depending on you know, where
you study, but if you want to be part of the sun, add, you know,
the traditional chain of transmission and recite, you know,
from a teacher who is who has their ijazah in that trade chain.
Then what often happens is whoever your, you know, teacher is if it's
a female for example, right, there are many women who Michelle will
have the Jesuits to teach them to eat, but
Oftentimes what will happen is, you will then be required to to
test in front of another teacher who most likely, you know, is the
teacher of that assist of that of your teacher. And it just goes
back and a lot of so there's absolutely, what I'm saying is
that there's recitation happening all the time between women and
men, that that were tested, often by our teachers, which end up
having to be men, even myself, my initial teacher of mine was, was a
male teacher and I had other female teachers along the way, but
the, my most recent teacher, it was also male. And these are
people who are part of a chain, a traditional, you know, teaching,
you know, process or methodology that if it was not permissible,
they wouldn't do it, because it's not something that, you know, that
they're unaware of, like, it's I don't know why it's even a point
of debate is just unfortunately, some people have turned it into
that. But if you look at example, after example, you will find many
female teachers who had to at some point recite in front of a man, it
was never considered anything other than normal, because that's
just part of how we, we train and we learn. So what she has done in
terms of this app is give a platform for these beautiful
audios throughout the world who, who in their own respective
countries, as she said, are publicly known. And there's no,
there's no even issue with them reciting because it's normal for
that for their in their own countries. But it's those of us in
the West who I think are taking from certain
cultural views about these things. And those cultural views have
predominated the discourse around women's in public spaces, but also
women in reciting. And we just have to go back to what the
tradition says. And that's why it's so beautiful to witness the
response. Because the day it was the launch was the first day of
Ramadan, may Allah bless her and increase her. And I know myself
and many other people were so excited to see what she's done.
And we saw that I have so many people who I, you know, sent it to
sharing the same feedback in tears completely moved a lot of women
and men with with daughters, as brother Daniel said, who were so
thankful that they have finally, something to share with their
young girls to inspire them also to have a relationship with the
Quran. And to not be feel that they are disadvantaged from, from
connecting with the book of Allah, because of their voice, like, it's
just so heartbreaking to imagine that a woman or a young girl would
want to explore, you know, reciting, and really want to share
and bask in the beautiful experience a recitation of the
Quran, but they are met with immediately a message that says,
you know, quiet down, you know, you're too loud, it's, you know,
it's, it's not permissible, or, you know, and then just their
voices stifled and suppressed, and silenced. And then what do you
expect, if they hear that over and over and over again, you're going
to have, unfortunately, many people just feel that, well, I
guess, I can't do this, and then they turn completely away
altogether. And I believe that there, that is a real experience
that many sisters in our community have suffered, for all the reasons
we mentioned, not just for this, you know, message about the voice
being out there, but also what we talked about earlier, which is
this fixation on the outward, you know, presentation of a Muslim
woman as being that that's all she brings to the table, you know, and
just focusing so much on that, and not really honoring the
intellectual, spiritual essence of a woman when that is really we
were the same I was Father clearly tells us that our deeds are no
less than a man states that everything that we do is
comparable. And the only thing that distinguishes us is the roles
that we may have. But in terms of the value of what we do, it's the
same. So to have this message reinforced and so beautifully,
because, again, this app I know, Michelle, for those of us who have
it, it's been a game changer. And we need to do our part to make
sure that as many people out there in the world know about it.
Because apps, I mean that the app stores, as we know, are
flourishing with apps. But if you have a social media space and you
can promote an app like this as we're doing right now through
celebrate mercy, then take it upon yourself to do that. Let us
amplify this, the voice of women through this app and may Allah
bless and reward you how many of I was getting emotional when she was
speaking in her initial pitch because she said something that
may have been lost on some who may not have you heard it or listened
to or maybe they just missed it. But there is there are some women
who have been traumatized because of unfortunately, you know,
terrible
things that have happened to them. And so they have, there's a very
there's a conflict when it comes to listening to male reciters
because of maybe some traumatic experience and I know of a
situation where that was the case and it was very painful. Because
the sister had confided in me about the trauma that she
experienced and how even every day when she prays, there are certain
images that she can't erase from her mind. And so people are
dealing with a lot of pain because of these types of incidences. So
to have a refuge or a means to still access the book of Allah
subhanaw taala without being pulled into that dark space is
such a gift and I I pray that Allah subhanaw taala we all know
who Shiva is we all love her immensely but I pray that she she
has just always finally continues to elevate her in this world and
the next and that her rewards are so much that she's there you know
that that he of course knows best but I just I just I want the best
for her and every which way possible and I ask all of you to
please keep her and her family and your daughter She didn't ask me to
say any of this I just have such immense love for her but forgive
me I've went on and I feel like maybe this will be a good time to
if there are any questions we can do that we can maybe close out and
let everyone experienced the rest of this Mubarak night inshallah
sure inshallah know that we really really enjoy this much needed
discussion by both you and Shiva. Maryam really started off with
that verse. And it really took off Mashallah. And then it was
incredible. I think it was much needed. We really appreciated it
as sister NEMA said,
she will download as well as share the app widely and she said this
is such a wonderful session. And as well for the Daniel said there
used to be focused on men controlling themselves I think
much blame is laid on women. So under the undeservedly we're
grateful for you as a father, brother Daniel, so you can raise
your children in this way. And there was a question by sister
Anna she said salgo I live in the Bay area of San Jose Are there
places where I can learn how to read the Quran and Tajweed I
really want to teach my newborn son when he's of age and sha Allah
and she also said by the way, you are onic parenting is my favorite
thing to watch right now. Everyone look her up and how the sister
Jose devotes time to reach us and how to raise our children in sha
Allah
well first of all political figures to and I don't know if
we've met I would love to meet you that since you're here local to me
inshallah we can meet sometime soon I'll be at MCC tomorrow for
an interface that if our that we have with the local Christian
community, inshallah so I'd love to see if you're there but as far
as your question is concerned, there are emotional drama
Foundation, which I hope you're all aware of, but it is also an
organization that is by women for women, started by Dr. Rania Awad.
And there are many other teachers that are also a part of it. It's
another photo cilmi it was at the Susanne Daniels others Shamir Cho,
Thea Sada, Rudy Ahmed, they're the main founders, but this
organization is amazing. And here in the Bay Area, they do have a
full time put on program for girls. And they also have, I
believe, for adults, like for women as well, but I would
definitely look into them. There are, you know, independent
teachers that I'm aware of who are taking students if you're
comfortable because you have a newborn, I do know someone who is
taking students for online sessions. And I can certainly put
you in contact with them if you celebrate mercy can maybe share my
contact information, or you can actually if you're on Instagram,
you can feel free to message me there. And on my Instagram in the
profile section, I have my email address as well so you can email
me, but maybe we can connect offline and I can install try to
help you find a teacher may Allah bless you. I'm all about getting
people you know, to really embrace their relationship with the book
of Allah. Many of you may not know but humbly lab, you know, several,
over 20 years ago, I started my Quran journey, and it took me a
while I went through a lot with it. I kind of just recently had a
video uploaded where I received my formal written ijazah for Quran
and hamdulillah recitation, but I shared my story because I wanted
to inspire especially the women that regardless of what your
experience has been, what what you've gone through, please don't
give up. Please don't give up. It took me a very long time to get to
this point. But I started off as like many people eager, really
wanting to learn and I had stumbles along the way I had what
I kind of call a form of like dyslexia with Arabic. I just I
don't know why I couldn't read very well. And it was rare.
It was a hindrance, obviously you need to learn, but I tried, I went
through several teachers, and it was difficult. And I ended up just
trying to memorize on my own without the skill of reading. And
because I wanted to do have, and it was difficult to do that, but I
did manage to get through some of the law. And then Allah opened up
an opportunity and that, you know, I kind of I don't want I'm sorry,
go on too long. But, you know, I received an opening, and I believe
it was 100% from the bulk of my, my teacher because you know,
mashallah, he's part of this wonderful. I mean, he's part of a
Senate and he's just an incredible teacher. But you know, what, when
you're, when you want something eagerly from Allah, subhanaw
taala, and you show hard work and determination. And even if you
stumble, and you fall, and you stumble and you quality, stumble
and fall, Allah is so generous, he will eventually bring you the
ease. And so you know, the versa if no matter what city, you start
in another city, so that is a real truth. So I went through that, and
I experienced those openings. And then you know, there was more
things that happen along the way. But hamdulillah took me a long
time, I finally did it. And so I share my story, because I want
sisters, to know that you can do it to just get on the path, find a
good teacher, don't let children stand in your way, don't let
marriage or work, or other commitments ever stand in your way
from accessing the greatest treasure on planet Earth, which is
the book of Allah, like if we if I if I told everybody here that
there was, you know, a treasure, you know, in the middle of the
ocean, and I gave you the latitude and longitude, and I told you the
map and how to get there, you know, and that there will be
abundant like wealth beyond what your eyes could see right? There
will be people scrambling to get on the next flight. If that was
the case, if they thought there were millions and billions of
dollars waiting for them. And it's sad that we don't realize that,
that is nothing compared to the treasure that is within the book
of Allah subhanaw taala. So we need to all of us for a go get our
claim our share because Allah has given it to every believer, and he
has made it again, I've forgotten an obligation for every believer
to learn how to read it and recite it. So that's why we have to be so
indebted and feel so grateful to the people, and incredible
teachers like Shiva Madea who spent her life as a student of
Dean, she's so young, but so full of wisdom. And I don't say this to
embarrass her, she's not here. It's just that she's amazing. And
then to do this app for all of us, what a gift. So claim it claim
your share and may Allah
continue to bless each and every one of you forgive me again, we'll
go ahead I went on too long. But is there any remaining questions?
I can take? No, no, that was beautiful. It is kind of where it
all started. I think that's the beautiful way to end this session.
Because, you know, we've been just benefiting so much from our
beautiful, a wonderful, pure, full of light and eemaan a female
teachers tonight, that we're all inspired and thank you for
teaching and motivating women to you know, be aspire to be higher
than than their looks than their hijab even and to to create the
light of Imam to have a relationship with the Quran to
have a direct connection with Allah subhanaw taala These are
truly what we need to be teaching our women our men of course, but
you know, they're often already taught these things so it's really
important to emphasize these things for women and especially by
women so it is clear that this was a much needed session I think
everyone tuning in has greatly benefited from it
that way yeah, go vertical Fe matar for just being amazing you

$3 to celebrate mercy just $3 and we're giving away to Omar prizes
this time. Because it's our final contest we're giving away two or
more prizes to qualify for an overpriced you have to get you
know 10 family or friends to donate $3 And then once you
qualify on the next day, you can get as many people as you'd like
to donate just $1 and you can get your name and the raffle more
times. So by doing this you could be the next person who joins us on
our Omar trip and by you could be speaking to two people in the
audience right now because we are giving away to Omar prizes Masha
Allah and just looking at the comments sister Amira said she's
donating right now in sha Allah. And I've said I've pledged to
donate as soon as this session ends in sha Allah does like an
affair and for all your support and your help. I just want to
share some celebrate mercy testimonials from Sister collegia
who said hamdulillah
Celebrate Mercy has been my most enlightening experience in my life
as a Muslim Subhanallah what a comment. You know, it's for people
like a sister Khadija that we put these programs, you know people
get inspired people who are, whose lives are changed because of these
programs. So please, please support us that we can continue
doing this work as well. We had another comment. I just want to
say my heart fills up whenever I am going to celebrate mercy space
of worship, or learning hummed Allah and as well as a circle draw
to send my most meaningful Ramadan moments so far, is realizing I've
been watching nothing but celebrate mercy hamdulillah and we
just had another Hamza commenting that I'm praying, I win this time
by the homes that you're in our Rodon contest. And sha Allah get
as many people to donate so that you get the most points and that
your name is in the raffle as many times as possible so that you can
win this ownership. And once again, a reminder to give until it
hurts just a little today. But if not if you don't want it to just
even $1 goes a long way because it could take us a step closer to
being first place and getting that $10,000 prize from launch kits
that's launch kit.com/cm And I want to know if you've been
impacted by celebrate mercy you know, we had a very impactful
session tonight definitely. So even after this program and you
can film a video testimonial or you know if you want to get some
rest wake up the next day whenever you want. We we'd love to hear
about how celebrate Mercy has impacted you we want to see your
faces hear your voices, it can be less than a minute or more than a
minute. But definitely please share it with us we are eager to
engage with our audience and to get to know you all better and see
how we've impacted you in sha Allah and you can email those
videos to admin at servant mercy.com If you are watching this

blessed night. This is my final Ramadan night. As with Sister
Nora, she has dearly missed so this is something that we'll miss
dearly once the month is over. And I just want to share this final
comment that we got from Sister Khaled who said I was late to
discover the Soviet mercy gem and get to know the wonderful people
on here. The nightly sessions have definitely been my companion in my
