00:00:00 --> 00:00:04
			Okay, so um, the left for those,
again who have been tuning in, we

00:00:04 --> 00:00:08
			stopped last week, we're still in
chapter three. But Inshallah, my

00:00:08 --> 00:00:12
			aim is to finish chapter three
today. So there are a few sections

00:00:12 --> 00:00:19
			that we want to talk about. So
let's see here last week we ended

00:00:19 --> 00:00:24
			on or two weeks ago, I should say,
we ended on the section on

00:00:24 --> 00:00:28
			commanding good and forbidding
evil. And so today we are picking

00:00:28 --> 00:00:33
			up on empathy. So this is a
particularly important topic for

00:00:33 --> 00:00:38
			me, because so much of the work
that I do actually, is revolves

00:00:38 --> 00:00:42
			around this word empathy. You
know, a lot of the talks that I've

00:00:42 --> 00:00:46
			given and just my, a lot of the
work that I've done over however

00:00:46 --> 00:00:49
			many years I've been teaching, and
in the community, I feel like I've

00:00:49 --> 00:00:55
			centered on this prophetic quality
of really just trying to put

00:00:55 --> 00:01:00
			yourself in the shoes of another,
to feel the pain or the

00:01:00 --> 00:01:05
			experiences of another so that you
become more compassionate towards

00:01:05 --> 00:01:09
			them. And that's really,
essentially, what empathy is.

00:01:09 --> 00:01:12
			Oftentimes, it's a term that's
confused with sympathy, but they

00:01:12 --> 00:01:16
			are quite different. Empathy means
to be in the feeling with someone,

00:01:17 --> 00:01:21
			or in excuse me, in feeling with
someone and then sympathy means to

00:01:21 --> 00:01:24
			be with them in feeling. So what
that means is, you know, when

00:01:24 --> 00:01:27
			you're observing someone, for
example, you know, they're

00:01:27 --> 00:01:30
			grieving, let's say, or they just
went through a difficult hardship,

00:01:30 --> 00:01:33
			if you have sympathy, you're
observing them, you're with them,

00:01:33 --> 00:01:36
			you're watching them, and you feel
bad, you feel pity. But it was

00:01:36 --> 00:01:41
			empathy. It's beyond pity or just
sympathy, it's actually feeling

00:01:41 --> 00:01:46
			the same emotions that they're
feeling, grieving the loss with

00:01:46 --> 00:01:51
			them really feeling it as if it's
your own pain, there are some

00:01:51 --> 00:01:56
			people who are so empathic that
they can actually even with

00:01:56 --> 00:02:00
			physical pain, they someone may
describe, for example, oh, I have

00:02:00 --> 00:02:05
			an ache in my tooth or a back, you
know, ache or some sort of pain.

00:02:05 --> 00:02:09
			And if the empath is really, you
know, just very cute into that

00:02:09 --> 00:02:15
			person, they can feel the pain or
sensation in the same area. And of

00:02:15 --> 00:02:20
			course, you know, people are, are
empathic in different degrees, but

00:02:20 --> 00:02:24
			there are certainly people who
have that. And so, this is a

00:02:24 --> 00:02:28
			prophetic quality. And if you've
ever heard me talk about emotional

00:02:28 --> 00:02:31
			intelligence, this is one of the
qualities of emotional

00:02:31 --> 00:02:35
			intelligence, right? There's five
key qualities self awareness, self

00:02:35 --> 00:02:40
			regulation, motivation, empathy,
and social skills. And so we go

00:02:40 --> 00:02:44
			into really deep or a long
explanation of what empathy is,

00:02:44 --> 00:02:47
			but let's look at what our
scholars have to say here as it is

00:02:47 --> 00:02:52
			in the book. So the most
beneficial spiritual practice for

00:02:52 --> 00:02:57
			our hearts is to avoid judging and
criticizing people and to

00:02:57 --> 00:03:01
			cultivate empathy and compassion
in our hearts for the creation of

00:03:01 --> 00:03:06
			Allah. To do this, it helps to
remember the narration of Prophet

00:03:06 --> 00:03:10
			Isa de salaam, which was found in
the month of Imam Malik. So here

00:03:10 --> 00:03:14
			this is Malik relates that related
to me and this is yeah have been

00:03:14 --> 00:03:18
			yeah, here speaking that he heard
that is I've been Maryam said, who

00:03:18 --> 00:03:22
			used to say, Do not sit in a
gathering without the mention of

00:03:22 --> 00:03:27
			Allah, for you will harden your
hearts. A hard heart is far from

00:03:27 --> 00:03:32
			Allah, but you do not know. Do not
look at the wrong actions of

00:03:32 --> 00:03:36
			people as if you were lords, but
rather look at your own wrong

00:03:36 --> 00:03:40
			actions as if you were slaves.
Some people are afflicted by wrong

00:03:40 --> 00:03:44
			actions, and others are protected
from them, have mercy on those who

00:03:44 --> 00:03:49
			are afflicted, and show gratitude
for his protection. I mean,

00:03:49 --> 00:03:54
			martial art says it all right,
it's such a balanced view of life

00:03:54 --> 00:03:58
			of the world of circumstance of
the fact that there are people who

00:03:58 --> 00:04:02
			are tested in different ways. And
if you are not tested in a

00:04:02 --> 00:04:08
			particular hardship or sin, or you
know shortcoming, then just be

00:04:08 --> 00:04:12
			grateful, but don't, you know,
look upon people with that

00:04:12 --> 00:04:16
			critical eye, that judgmental eye
where you think yourself above

00:04:16 --> 00:04:20
			them, just rather, you know, be
merciful towards them be

00:04:20 --> 00:04:23
			compassionate and know that
they're being tested. And it was

00:04:23 --> 00:04:27
			something that hamdulillah Allah
is protecting you from because,

00:04:27 --> 00:04:31
			you know, maybe by your arrogance
towards them, you will be tested

00:04:31 --> 00:04:35
			with the same or worse so it's
it's in your own benefit to not be

00:04:35 --> 00:04:43
			judgmental, but also to practice
empathy is to not is to see people

00:04:43 --> 00:04:47
			again for where they're at and to
not see yourself as better than

00:04:47 --> 00:04:51
			them but rather that we're all
sinners, we all make mistakes. We

00:04:51 --> 00:04:56
			all sin in different ways and and
are tested in different ways. And

00:04:56 --> 00:05:00
			so just to have compassion that
when you see someone you

00:05:00 --> 00:05:03
			They're being afflicted with
something or are falling into some

00:05:03 --> 00:05:07
			sin. That of course, I mean, if
they're close to you, you can

00:05:07 --> 00:05:10
			counsel them, and then give them
the see how but you certainly

00:05:10 --> 00:05:14
			shouldn't look down upon them or
speak ill of them spread, you

00:05:14 --> 00:05:18
			know, spread rumors, because this
means that you see yourself above.

00:05:18 --> 00:05:21
			And that's really the core. I
mean, there's a central issue of

00:05:21 --> 00:05:24
			people who are judgmental, right,
judgmental, and critical. People

00:05:24 --> 00:05:28
			do see themselves as above other
people. And so this quality of

00:05:28 --> 00:05:33
			empathy is just recognizing your
own humanity, your own ability to

00:05:33 --> 00:05:38
			make mistakes, and then not being
critical of other people and

00:05:38 --> 00:05:42
			having that humility and that
total awareness, that whatever

00:05:42 --> 00:05:47
			guidance you have, is entirely
from Allah subhanaw taala. It's

00:05:47 --> 00:05:51
			not because you're necessarily
better or you some people, you

00:05:51 --> 00:05:55
			know, they think that because of
their own deeds, that they are

00:05:55 --> 00:05:58
			superior, morally, you know,
they're superior, or maybe because

00:05:58 --> 00:06:01
			of lineage, a lot of people think
well, their family, their

00:06:01 --> 00:06:05
			upbringing, their education, their
wealth or status, affords them,

00:06:06 --> 00:06:10
			you know, this rank above other
people or protection from doing

00:06:10 --> 00:06:16
			certain things. But that is really
flawed view, all of the good that

00:06:16 --> 00:06:20
			we have is from Allah subhanaw
taala, all of the guidance we have

00:06:20 --> 00:06:24
			is from Allah subhanho wa taala.
It's not from our own deeds, and

00:06:24 --> 00:06:28
			this is what humility and what
following the prophesy Saddam's

00:06:28 --> 00:06:32
			example teaches you is that you
don't ever attribute any good to

00:06:32 --> 00:06:34
			yourself, you're always
attributing the good to Allah

00:06:34 --> 00:06:38
			subhanaw taala. And you attribute
your own flaws, of course to

00:06:38 --> 00:06:42
			yourself, but you see people, you
humanize people and you don't look

00:06:42 --> 00:06:47
			at them, again with this
judgmental eye. So this is the

00:06:47 --> 00:06:51
			topic of empathy. And again, so
important, so I love this quote of

00:06:51 --> 00:06:55
			ESA peace be upon him because it's
so comprehensive, you know, he's

00:06:55 --> 00:06:59
			giving us clear direction, to how
to protect our hearts from getting

00:06:59 --> 00:07:05
			hard. First, he's tells us right,
don't sit with people who don't

00:07:05 --> 00:07:08
			mention a law. And that's actually
really important because

00:07:08 --> 00:07:12
			judgmental people, you know, birds
of a feather, they flock together,

00:07:12 --> 00:07:15
			you usually learn those behaviors
because of a company that you

00:07:15 --> 00:07:21
			keep, and right now, for example,
you look at social media, and you

00:07:21 --> 00:07:27
			look at so much of our culture is
legitimizes or, you know, allows

00:07:27 --> 00:07:32
			and even encourages, gossip and
encourages, you know, just the

00:07:32 --> 00:07:36
			tabloid culture that we have of
following people and looking at

00:07:36 --> 00:07:40
			what they're doing. And then just
talking about people, you know,

00:07:40 --> 00:07:42
			all of these things that are not
part of our faith, we are taught

00:07:42 --> 00:07:47
			to mind our own business, to not
be nosy and pry into people's

00:07:47 --> 00:07:51
			private lives, or be concerned
about what other people are doing.

00:07:51 --> 00:07:56
			But when you have a society, that
not only, you know, make it this

00:07:56 --> 00:07:59
			is so widespread, but actually
encourages it, believe it or not,

00:07:59 --> 00:08:03
			earlier last week, actually, for a
post that I was writing, I was

00:08:03 --> 00:08:08
			just doing some research and I
found articles in pretty, you

00:08:08 --> 00:08:13
			know, prominent publications that
were advising people, or even the

00:08:13 --> 00:08:17
			titles of the articles were, you
know, the benefits of gossip, like

00:08:17 --> 00:08:20
			gossiping could actually be good
for you. I was like oh, the

00:08:20 --> 00:08:24
			biller, and then you know, I did
another post on cursing, and how

00:08:24 --> 00:08:28
			we should you know, this is just a
tangent, but you know, I'm cursing

00:08:28 --> 00:08:31
			and how we should avoid foul
language and someone sent me my

00:08:31 --> 00:08:35
			brother actually, he sent me an
article that had just been

00:08:35 --> 00:08:39
			published the same day that my or
the next day after my post, that

00:08:39 --> 00:08:44
			said, you know, a sign science
proves that intelligent people

00:08:44 --> 00:08:46
			curse that is a sign of
intelligence. So unfortunately,

00:08:47 --> 00:08:51
			there are people in our society
who glorify these behaviors that

00:08:51 --> 00:08:55
			are not part of our faith are not
acceptable according to our faith.

00:08:55 --> 00:08:58
			We have to protect our hearts from
that. And so if you normalize

00:08:58 --> 00:09:01
			certain behaviors, or you're
hanging around people who

00:09:01 --> 00:09:04
			normalize those behaviors, you
will adopt the same behaviors and

00:09:04 --> 00:09:08
			that's certainly the case for
cursing as well as gossip as well

00:09:08 --> 00:09:12
			as a lot of the flaws character
you know, just the wrong actions

00:09:12 --> 00:09:15
			and character flaws that people
adopt because of the company they

00:09:15 --> 00:09:19
			keep. So it's so important to heed
this advice don't sit with people

00:09:19 --> 00:09:22
			who don't remind you of Allah who
don't mention all this Partha

00:09:22 --> 00:09:28
			because you know, if you carry on
with those types of groups, then

00:09:28 --> 00:09:31
			the consequences that you will be
distant from ALLAH SubhanA wa Tada

00:09:31 --> 00:09:35
			because your hard hearts will
start to harden, right? And then

00:09:35 --> 00:09:38
			you know, so it's just really
beautiful the way the phrasing of

00:09:38 --> 00:09:41
			this is because it's really like
it's it's so comprehensive and

00:09:41 --> 00:09:46
			then to prevent you know, not only
from your heart from hardening, he

00:09:46 --> 00:09:50
			addresses arrogance and looking
down on people and then he

00:09:50 --> 00:09:54
			encourages empathy. So these are
all really beautiful qualities,

00:09:54 --> 00:09:57
			prophetic qualities that we should
adopt inshallah. So this was the

00:09:57 --> 00:09:59
			first or the

00:10:00 --> 00:10:04
			The section that we left off last
time. So let's go on to the next.

00:10:04 --> 00:10:06
			And then we're still on chapter
three. For those who have the

00:10:06 --> 00:10:10
			book, we're on page 35. Now, so
you can follow along. And some of

00:10:10 --> 00:10:13
			these sections are a little longer
than others. So I wasn't able to

00:10:13 --> 00:10:18
			type out the entire section, but I
do have, you know, most of the

00:10:18 --> 00:10:21
			content that we need to cover, and
I'll just read whatever is left.

00:10:22 --> 00:10:27
			So, this will, the next section
here is on supplication. So which

00:10:27 --> 00:10:30
			of course we know is law. And here

00:10:31 --> 00:10:37
			it says that supplication is
another profound practice, pray

00:10:37 --> 00:10:40
			every day for our afflicted
brothers and sisters throughout

00:10:40 --> 00:10:45
			the world, especially defenseless
women and children. May Allah give

00:10:45 --> 00:10:50
			us from His presence, a protector
who is victorious, the state of

00:10:50 --> 00:10:53
			the community of Muslims is at a
low ebb in history. But we believe

00:10:53 --> 00:10:56
			in the promises of our province of
Ontario, Saddam, concerning its

00:10:56 --> 00:11:00
			rectification in the latter days,
and we should hope and pray for

00:11:00 --> 00:11:03
			the day when the community's
prosperity returns. And the

00:11:03 --> 00:11:07
			believers are united and
protected. I mean, so, you know,

00:11:07 --> 00:11:11
			this is a advice, it's an Asiya.
All of this is entire chapters on

00:11:11 --> 00:11:15
			practical steps to change our
conditions. So this being you

00:11:15 --> 00:11:18
			know, almost towards the end of
the chapter, it certainly is

00:11:18 --> 00:11:22
			important for us to do this every
day. And that's why right off the

00:11:22 --> 00:11:27
			bat, it's it's a, it's a command,
right, we should be making dua

00:11:27 --> 00:11:31
			every day for our brothers and
sisters throughout the world. And

00:11:31 --> 00:11:35
			sometimes we can get short sighted
with our dua. And sometimes we can

00:11:35 --> 00:11:38
			skip it all together. I know my
personally, personally, I've

00:11:38 --> 00:11:42
			definitely struggled with that
just jumping from one thing to the

00:11:42 --> 00:11:45
			other prayers, you know, I have to
do my prayers. But then I don't

00:11:45 --> 00:11:49
			sometimes I forget to sit down and
just have moments of pause after

00:11:49 --> 00:11:54
			my prayer, we're actually remember
to make dua, you know, not just

00:11:54 --> 00:11:57
			the ones that we learned to do
after the prayer.

00:11:58 --> 00:12:02
			But actually to remember people to
remember, you know, people that

00:12:02 --> 00:12:05
			have lost, for example, loved
ones, or people that I know right

00:12:05 --> 00:12:10
			now are going through hardships.
So what's helped me in the past is

00:12:10 --> 00:12:15
			to some time, I mean, I've made
dua lists. So if you have a list,

00:12:15 --> 00:12:18
			sometimes that's really helpful to
keep in your pocket, or to keep on

00:12:18 --> 00:12:22
			hand. So that right after prayer,
you can just take it out, because

00:12:22 --> 00:12:25
			if we are being honest, our
memories fail us all the time. You

00:12:25 --> 00:12:29
			know, I was just telling someone
yesterday that that's a big part

00:12:29 --> 00:12:32
			of human you know, our frailty as
human beings is that we're very

00:12:32 --> 00:12:38
			forgetful. And even if we want to
do something, earnestly and

00:12:38 --> 00:12:42
			sincerely, sometimes it's our
memory lapse that can prevent us,

00:12:42 --> 00:12:47
			right. It's not will or desire or
sincerity, but it's just the fact

00:12:47 --> 00:12:52
			that we're, we're forgetful. And
so it does help to have reminders,

00:12:52 --> 00:12:56
			visuals, something that will
trigger the memory for us. So

00:12:56 --> 00:12:59
			prayer lists are certainly
helpful. But you know, this is

00:12:59 --> 00:13:03
			advice about the importance of
remembering that we should make it

00:13:03 --> 00:13:08
			off for everybody, not collective
laws, right? Not just, you know,

00:13:08 --> 00:13:12
			ourselves, but also all of the
people who are oppressed and, and

00:13:12 --> 00:13:15
			suffering throughout the world.
And then to not lose hope, you

00:13:15 --> 00:13:17
			know, because that's one of the

00:13:18 --> 00:13:22
			tactics of shaitan is to bring
people down by saying, well look

00:13:22 --> 00:13:26
			at the Muslim world, and people
are in such a terrible situation.

00:13:27 --> 00:13:32
			And he'll just try to, you know,
just kind of chip away at our, our

00:13:32 --> 00:13:36
			conviction and our faith, and we
have to know better and say, No,

00:13:36 --> 00:13:40
			everything is written unless
partisan control. And we just have

00:13:40 --> 00:13:43
			to do our part, you know, just
ever, if all of us do our part,

00:13:43 --> 00:13:48
			Inshallah, we'll see the benefit.
And this is the whole book, the

00:13:48 --> 00:13:52
			whole book is about really
focusing on every individual

00:13:52 --> 00:13:56
			focusing on their own power and
their own potential, and really

00:13:56 --> 00:14:00
			just working on restoring what
needs to be restored within

00:14:00 --> 00:14:03
			themselves. And then the ripple
effect that that has, because it

00:14:03 --> 00:14:07
			does it has a ripple effect. If we
all were doing Toba, for example,

00:14:07 --> 00:14:14
			if we all were, you know, doing
good works collectively, we would

00:14:14 --> 00:14:16
			see the benefit of that. But the
problem is, of course, there's so

00:14:16 --> 00:14:20
			much of alpha heedlessness in our
community in our world now, and

00:14:20 --> 00:14:24
			forgetfulness. And so there are
people who are certainly doing

00:14:24 --> 00:14:28
			their best. And then we have
people who who are who have just

00:14:28 --> 00:14:32
			forgotten and they're going
astray. So we need to get on the

00:14:32 --> 00:14:37
			same page basically. So this idea
of, of remembering the importance

00:14:37 --> 00:14:40
			of God is very important. So I'll
have the lattice was also part of,

00:14:40 --> 00:14:46
			again, the list of things,
actionable items, that all of us

00:14:46 --> 00:14:51
			can do individually to practically
begin to change our condition.

00:14:52 --> 00:14:56
			Now, the next section, also very
important, here, let me get the

00:14:56 --> 00:14:57
			slide up.

00:15:00 --> 00:15:01
			Excuse me

00:15:03 --> 00:15:07
			it's a bit of a delay Okay, so
this is on a physical health 100

00:15:07 --> 00:15:11
			So here we go let's just go ahead
and read and this is I've divided

00:15:11 --> 00:15:14
			this slide into or section into
two slides because he first they

00:15:14 --> 00:15:15
			first address

00:15:17 --> 00:15:19
			physical health and then hygiene
so we should all make it a

00:15:19 --> 00:15:22
			practice to take care of our
physical health and hygiene The

00:15:22 --> 00:15:25
			problem is I said I'm said Surely
your body has a right over you. So

00:15:25 --> 00:15:29
			this is now we should exercise
regularly remove harmful foods

00:15:29 --> 00:15:33
			from our diets. And then you know,
we're called to be witnesses over

00:15:33 --> 00:15:36
			humanity and all things The
problem is that instead of strong

00:15:36 --> 00:15:39
			believers better and more beloved
to Allah than a weak believer in

00:15:39 --> 00:15:42
			each there's good and then you
know, other suggestions, which are

00:15:42 --> 00:15:46
			all part of the Sunnah martial
arts are wrestling we know of

00:15:46 --> 00:15:50
			course, the puzzles and wrestled,
right, and self defense archery.

00:15:50 --> 00:15:54
			These are all ancient prophetic
practices and effective ways of

00:15:54 --> 00:15:58
			keeping fit and sharp, playing
sports, you know, is useful, it

00:15:58 --> 00:16:01
			teaches people to work together
and cooperate in addition to

00:16:01 --> 00:16:04
			providing healthy competition
tempered by good sportsmanship.

00:16:04 --> 00:16:08
			And we know the process that um,
you know, he loves to have

00:16:08 --> 00:16:11
			competition with his wives with
the Sahaba even sometimes with

00:16:11 --> 00:16:16
			children, he raised on foot on
horse on camel, so he was very

00:16:16 --> 00:16:21
			active, right. And so certainly
important that we all you know,

00:16:21 --> 00:16:25
			take note of our health and make
sure that we're doing the best

00:16:25 --> 00:16:28
			that we can and you know, if you
have health issues, other things

00:16:28 --> 00:16:32
			that prevent you from doing things
then be gentle with yourself and

00:16:32 --> 00:16:36
			do follow you know, whatever
instructions your your doctors or

00:16:36 --> 00:16:41
			medical team has in place for you
and be gentle. But these are just

00:16:42 --> 00:16:45
			in terms of what you can control
like our diets and what we're

00:16:45 --> 00:16:48
			eating we can certainly control
and make sure that we're eating

00:16:48 --> 00:16:53
			Helen are eating good, wholesome
foods, right organic foods, clean

00:16:53 --> 00:17:00
			foods, making sure that we're not
contributing to the the the mass

00:17:00 --> 00:17:03
			food, you know, the food industry
that just, you know, mass produces

00:17:03 --> 00:17:07
			without really much care of what
the ingredients are the

00:17:07 --> 00:17:10
			preservatives, the dyes, the
toxins, all those chemicals that

00:17:10 --> 00:17:12
			are in a lot of our foods. So if
you're conscientious of these

00:17:12 --> 00:17:17
			things, and try our best to eat
the good foods and eat of the

00:17:17 --> 00:17:21
			halal of course foods, Inshallah,
this is really a big step and then

00:17:21 --> 00:17:26
			to do as much as we can in terms
of physical exercise. So the next

00:17:26 --> 00:17:31
			section is connected to this, but
it's, again, about hygiene, which

00:17:31 --> 00:17:36
			is the other the other part of
this, let me go to that slide.

00:17:36 --> 00:17:40
			Just one moment, while this
catches up, I went a little

00:17:40 --> 00:17:41
			forward.

00:17:43 --> 00:17:48
			Sorry. Okay. So cleanliness, of
course, we know the Hadith, right?

00:17:48 --> 00:17:51
			That cleanliness is half of our
face. So it's a characteristic of

00:17:51 --> 00:17:55
			Islam. And this is both internal
and external cleanliness, right,

00:17:55 --> 00:17:59
			there are aspects of the Prophetic
practice. So external hygiene,

00:17:59 --> 00:18:03
			this is, you know, certainly
taking a bath grooming, wearing

00:18:03 --> 00:18:07
			clean clothes, we should be
vigilant, to say keep ourselves

00:18:07 --> 00:18:13
			clean from impurities, one of the
practices that I certainly, you

00:18:13 --> 00:18:17
			know, I speak about and I, I
really think is very important

00:18:17 --> 00:18:20
			that we teach our children even
from a young age, is always trying

00:18:20 --> 00:18:24
			to maintain their will do and to
be in the practice of, you know,

00:18:24 --> 00:18:27
			where if they need to use the
restroom, always just having that

00:18:27 --> 00:18:31
			rule of thumb to just make, you
know, be always in a state of

00:18:31 --> 00:18:37
			purity and attract those, you
know, angelic, you know, the

00:18:37 --> 00:18:42
			angelic beings to you and repel
the, the demonic beings, we don't

00:18:42 --> 00:18:45
			want them close to us, we want the
angels close to us, right and they

00:18:45 --> 00:18:49
			are drawn to the people and will
do so being in those clean states.

00:18:50 --> 00:18:53
			And then maintaining our homes and
other possessions, cars, vehicles,

00:18:53 --> 00:18:57
			whatever we have places that we
have, if you have an office, you

00:18:57 --> 00:19:01
			know, if I was blessed you with
multiple homes, but just trying to

00:19:01 --> 00:19:01
			be

00:19:03 --> 00:19:07
			a person who embodies this quality
of cleanliness so that when we go

00:19:07 --> 00:19:12
			out, people are not put off by
body odor. I mean software, this

00:19:12 --> 00:19:18
			is a complaint. You know, we've
heard so many times about just

00:19:18 --> 00:19:21
			going to the masjid even and
praying next to people who smell

00:19:21 --> 00:19:25
			like food or who have body odor,
you know, this is really we have

00:19:25 --> 00:19:29
			to be very careful stuff while
about offending people because

00:19:29 --> 00:19:34
			honestly, there are people who may
have a bad experience one time and

00:19:34 --> 00:19:37
			that's enough for them to not want
to go back and you don't want to

00:19:37 --> 00:19:42
			be the cause. For for someone
being so repelled, that they don't

00:19:42 --> 00:19:44
			are repulsed or they don't want to
come back to the masjid you know,

00:19:44 --> 00:19:48
			because you didn't fulfill your
obligation and making sure you're

00:19:48 --> 00:19:52
			you're clean that you smell well
you know and of course now we're

00:19:52 --> 00:19:55
			in quarantine so this doesn't
directly apply at the moment but

00:19:55 --> 00:19:58
			inshallah when the doors of the
masjid open again or just in

00:19:58 --> 00:19:59
			general you go out anywhere you

00:20:00 --> 00:20:05
			You go to someone's home, you go
to the store, public places, just

00:20:05 --> 00:20:09
			being mindful of your self, like
when's the last time you washed

00:20:09 --> 00:20:12
			you cleaned? Do you, I mean, I did
this with my boys, I have two

00:20:12 --> 00:20:16
			growing boys one is a 12 year old,
the other is a nine year old. And

00:20:16 --> 00:20:19
			you know, we all know the smell
right? When they go outside to

00:20:19 --> 00:20:19
			play.

00:20:21 --> 00:20:24
			I'm sure girls get it too, but
it's just that smell of outside,

00:20:24 --> 00:20:28
			you know, especially boys who
running around and doing God knows

00:20:28 --> 00:20:32
			what outside, you know, they're
playing basketball and, and sports

00:20:32 --> 00:20:34
			and all these other things that
they're doing riding their bikes,

00:20:34 --> 00:20:37
			but they'll come sometimes with
that smell and I just a rule for

00:20:37 --> 00:20:40
			us, you know, you have that smell
in the shower, or, you know, make

00:20:40 --> 00:20:44
			sure you you're freshening up,
make will do wash your face, get

00:20:44 --> 00:20:47
			everything off clean, you know,
clean your feet, so we have to get

00:20:47 --> 00:20:50
			boys in the habit of cleaning
their feet. And this is just basic

00:20:50 --> 00:20:53
			knowledge of, you know, physiology
and growth and development, that

00:20:53 --> 00:20:57
			teens, they're going to go through
those growth spurts, and they're

00:20:57 --> 00:21:00
			going to have odors, and we need
to teach them from a very early

00:21:00 --> 00:21:03
			age, that they have to be
responsible for themselves, but if

00:21:03 --> 00:21:06
			they get in habits early on, then
inshallah it'll help them to

00:21:07 --> 00:21:11
			adjust to the life of a Muslim,
which is, you know, making will do

00:21:11 --> 00:21:14
			throughout the day praying our
prayers, Inshallah, on time,

00:21:14 --> 00:21:17
			always being in a state of purity.
But if you don't habituate your

00:21:17 --> 00:21:21
			kids early, and then expect them
to learn all this, you know, late,

00:21:21 --> 00:21:25
			it's very hard. So I'm very much a
proponent of getting our kids in

00:21:25 --> 00:21:29
			these habits early and making sure
that they are always mindful of

00:21:29 --> 00:21:33
			themselves checking their, their
smells, you have them because I

00:21:33 --> 00:21:37
			know as a teacher, and as someone
who does, coming of age talks to

00:21:37 --> 00:21:43
			teens, teen girls, I have actually
had to address this particular

00:21:43 --> 00:21:48
			issue multiple times, you know,
with, with, with teens, because

00:21:48 --> 00:21:52
			their teachers or staff or other
students have sometimes,

00:21:52 --> 00:21:57
			unfortunately had issues with some
of them being completely unaware

00:21:57 --> 00:22:01
			that they have body odor, and that
they're physiologically you know,

00:22:01 --> 00:22:04
			they're changing, and they're
there. They're there.

00:22:06 --> 00:22:10
			Things are changing, and they need
to basically be aware of those

00:22:10 --> 00:22:12
			things. They're just not aware.
And it's not their fault. We don't

00:22:12 --> 00:22:15
			fault that. But I've had that
discussion several times. So I

00:22:15 --> 00:22:19
			think we should protect our kids.
From those embarrassing

00:22:19 --> 00:22:22
			situations, awkward conversations
with classmates or teachers and

00:22:23 --> 00:22:27
			just in our own homes, teach them
early on, get them kits, you know,

00:22:27 --> 00:22:32
			get them. For example, deodorant
kits, if you're, you know, if you

00:22:32 --> 00:22:35
			have teenagers, and they are
beginning to grow hair, teaching

00:22:35 --> 00:22:38
			them how to remove hair, this is
important. These are things that

00:22:38 --> 00:22:42
			they should learn. And then making
sure that even with young

00:22:42 --> 00:22:46
			children, you know, I know some
Muslims just because it's

00:22:46 --> 00:22:49
			convenient. They don't they don't
teach them, you know, isn't jet

00:22:49 --> 00:22:52
			early, because it's like, oh, it's
just a little kid. It's just a

00:22:52 --> 00:22:56
			toddler. It's okay, I'll wipe them
clean. And that's it. No, get them

00:22:56 --> 00:23:00
			used to the concept of a Sinjar
that we wash, we clean impurities

00:23:00 --> 00:23:05
			off. You know, get them in those
habits. Don't wait until they're

00:23:05 --> 00:23:09
			school age or older. If they if
you start them young with that and

00:23:09 --> 00:23:13
			Shahla those habits will just be
very natural and it'll feel very

00:23:13 --> 00:23:16
			comfortable or comfortable for
them. So all of those things are

00:23:16 --> 00:23:21
			really important. But here the the
rest of this section, the prophesy

00:23:21 --> 00:23:25
			centum said clean your yards.
Right and then one of the greatest

00:23:25 --> 00:23:29
			benefits of cleanliness is that
invites us to the love to love to

00:23:29 --> 00:23:33
			the love of online. Right because
Allah Subhana Allah says in

00:23:34 --> 00:23:38
			chapter two surah baqarah Verily,
Allah loves those who turn to him

00:23:38 --> 00:23:43
			constantly. And he loves those who
keep themselves clean, so

00:23:43 --> 00:23:47
			beautiful. Now this quote at the
bottom is also really important

00:23:47 --> 00:23:50
			this is from Evelyn Claremont,
Josie, Josie if

00:23:51 --> 00:23:56
			he said that I type the whole
thing I'm just checking Okay, so

00:23:56 --> 00:24:00
			he Yeah, I typed most of it. He
said that what we eat affects our

00:24:00 --> 00:24:03
			behavior and almost part of that
is prohibited the flesh of

00:24:03 --> 00:24:08
			predators and omnivores so that we
do not become like we should avoid

00:24:08 --> 00:24:10
			to the best of our ability
processed foods feed our families

00:24:10 --> 00:24:13
			wholesome so handed up so a lot of
the stuff that I had mentioned

00:24:13 --> 00:24:17
			earlier about just eating good
foods because you know, you're

00:24:17 --> 00:24:21
			what you eat. We've all heard of
that. We believe this we do

00:24:21 --> 00:24:24
			actually believe in that so trying
to eat the best so that inshallah

00:24:24 --> 00:24:30
			we embody the best qualities. So
this is the section on health or

00:24:30 --> 00:24:33
			and hygiene so now we're gonna
move on I'm gonna like I said, try

00:24:33 --> 00:24:36
			to finish chapter three and
Charlotte today so that next time

00:24:36 --> 00:24:41
			we come, we'll start on chapter
four. So wait for this next slide

00:24:41 --> 00:24:42
			to load

00:24:46 --> 00:24:50
			sorry, again for the delay.
There's always a lag it seems.

00:24:53 --> 00:24:56
			Yep, and it went ahead. Okay. So
the next one is the section on

00:24:56 --> 00:24:59
			commitment. And then

00:25:00 --> 00:25:03
			Again, I love this. It's just a
small paragraph but powerful,

00:25:03 --> 00:25:07
			powerful message here, we should
renew our commitment to the

00:25:07 --> 00:25:10
			religion of Allah and His
messenger. So how do you seven

00:25:10 --> 00:25:15
			every day of our lives, our sole
purpose in living should be for

00:25:15 --> 00:25:19
			Allah sake, renewing this pledge
of one's life to a lot and then to

00:25:19 --> 00:25:23
			His messengers. So a lot of setup
is an important daily reminder of

00:25:23 --> 00:25:28
			why we are here and how we should
act. The only way we can truly be

00:25:28 --> 00:25:32
			witnesses to humanity is to live
our truth. This takes great

00:25:32 --> 00:25:36
			effort, but its rewards are
nothing less than guidance and

00:25:36 --> 00:25:39
			success in this world and then
forgiveness and trying for the

00:25:39 --> 00:25:43
			next. I love this because it
really resonates with me, you

00:25:43 --> 00:25:47
			know, the idea of just remembering
what am I doing here? Why am I

00:25:47 --> 00:25:52
			here? Why did Allah create me
having those really deep internal

00:25:52 --> 00:25:55
			dialogues with yourself and
realizing the power of existence,

00:25:55 --> 00:25:56
			the message

00:25:58 --> 00:26:03
			behind our existence, the fact
that Allah created us is really

00:26:03 --> 00:26:08
			profound, right? That he, he could
have not created us, right, he

00:26:08 --> 00:26:13
			could have created us into
something else, an animal, an

00:26:13 --> 00:26:19
			inanimate object, but he gave us
life and he gave us this honor of

00:26:19 --> 00:26:24
			being potentially you know, even
greater than the angels if we so

00:26:24 --> 00:26:29
			choose to act that way. And to be
in the OMA of the best of

00:26:29 --> 00:26:33
			creation, so a lot and he was
said, um, so, so much of that is

00:26:33 --> 00:26:36
			really profound if you think
deeply on it, but also resonates

00:26:36 --> 00:26:41
			because I remember when I first
wore hijab 20 plus years ago, a

00:26:41 --> 00:26:43
			long long time ago, one of the

00:26:46 --> 00:26:50
			one of the one of the reasons why
hijab was so powerful for me, and

00:26:50 --> 00:26:54
			I'm sure it is for Inshallah, all
sisters who wear a hijab when all

00:26:54 --> 00:26:59
			brothers who, within with the same
intention grow their beard and

00:26:59 --> 00:27:05
			wear their Koofi is that when you
step outside the house, and people

00:27:05 --> 00:27:08
			look at you, and they recognize
you, whether they're Muslim or

00:27:08 --> 00:27:14
			not, you they are doing you an
incredible favor. You know,

00:27:14 --> 00:27:18
			because we're so forgetful, right.
Like I said earlier, we it's one

00:27:18 --> 00:27:21
			of our frail frailties, we're just
we're weak, we have a lot of

00:27:21 --> 00:27:25
			weaknesses. One of them is our
memories. So the fact that

00:27:25 --> 00:27:30
			complete strangers with with no
maybe awareness of what they're

00:27:30 --> 00:27:34
			doing for you, they're actually
reminding you that you're Muslim,

00:27:35 --> 00:27:38
			you know, behave. Remember,
remember who you are, remember why

00:27:38 --> 00:27:41
			you're here, remember that you are
responsible, and you're

00:27:41 --> 00:27:45
			accountable before God, because
you know, Zen from the hadith of

00:27:45 --> 00:27:50
			Gibreel, we know is, is to, to
worship all those patterns. So you

00:27:50 --> 00:27:54
			see him even though you can't see
him, but you're aware that he sees

00:27:54 --> 00:28:01
			you that awareness is the goal,
right? It's we should all strive

00:28:01 --> 00:28:08
			to be that aware of our Lord, to
be so aware of his existence and

00:28:08 --> 00:28:14
			his his watchfulness over us, that
in every moment, we are mindful of

00:28:14 --> 00:28:17
			what we're doing that we're
keeping away from the Haram

00:28:17 --> 00:28:21
			certainly, Inshallah, but we're
also doing good works, we have

00:28:21 --> 00:28:24
			good intentions, we have good
thoughts, right? Our actions and

00:28:24 --> 00:28:30
			our, our inward reality are, are
matching, right? So the fact that

00:28:30 --> 00:28:35
			I can go to the store, and, or
just sit in my car and drive away

00:28:35 --> 00:28:40
			and I see a neighbor, and they
wave at me. And I'm reminded, you

00:28:40 --> 00:28:44
			know, you're, you're in hijab,
that neighbor, that person in the

00:28:44 --> 00:28:47
			street, or the car next to you, or
at the gas station, or the grocery

00:28:47 --> 00:28:51
			store, when they look back at you,
when they do a double take, or

00:28:51 --> 00:28:54
			when they stare at you and maybe
hold that gaze a little long.

00:28:55 --> 00:28:58
			Remember, why are they doing that?
It's hard because you're

00:28:58 --> 00:29:02
			radiating, you know, some, you
know, you're just so captivating

00:29:02 --> 00:29:06
			to look at, you know, maybe
emotional there are certainly

00:29:06 --> 00:29:11
			beautiful people who have that
power. I do not count myself among

00:29:11 --> 00:29:14
			those people. There are people
mashallah, yes, who will get those

00:29:14 --> 00:29:20
			double, triple looks because they
do have that, that exceptional

00:29:20 --> 00:29:24
			radiance or beauty. But if you
don't have that 100 of that you

00:29:24 --> 00:29:29
			have something else that is, you
know, like a neon sign, and it's

00:29:29 --> 00:29:33
			getting you those looks, but it's
also a reminder for you, that

00:29:33 --> 00:29:36
			Allah is watching, you're a
Muslim, you're accountable for

00:29:36 --> 00:29:41
			yourself. So I always thought it
was a great privilege. Because I'm

00:29:41 --> 00:29:46
			so forgetful normally that by
wearing my hijab, it's helping me

00:29:46 --> 00:29:51
			to stay accountable. Right? It's
helping me to remember when I'm on

00:29:51 --> 00:29:55
			the road and someone cuts me off
like I used to when I was younger,

00:29:55 --> 00:29:59
			I had maybe some choice words and
other gestures because stuff a lot

00:29:59 --> 00:29:59
			you know,

00:30:00 --> 00:30:03
			This is what we're what we're
taught in this society, you know,

00:30:03 --> 00:30:08
			teenagers, especially, we're very
reactive when we're teens, right?

00:30:08 --> 00:30:12
			So anyway, you're taught to react
and you're taught to get

00:30:12 --> 00:30:16
			aggressive and you're taught all
those things. But Islam, you know,

00:30:16 --> 00:30:19
			humbler, teaches you know, that.
let people go. If someone's

00:30:19 --> 00:30:23
			cutting you off on the road, don't
personalize everything. Why do you

00:30:23 --> 00:30:26
			have to personalize it, that
person doesn't know you. Maybe

00:30:26 --> 00:30:29
			they're rushing because they have
to go somewhere. And maybe there's

00:30:29 --> 00:30:32
			an emergency, maybe there's
something going on that you have

00:30:32 --> 00:30:35
			no idea about, maybe they're about
to lose their job, because they're

00:30:35 --> 00:30:38
			running late for work, and they
have bills to pay. So if we

00:30:38 --> 00:30:43
			humanize people, and we just start
letting go of the need to

00:30:44 --> 00:30:49
			personalize everything, and also
remember that we are accountable

00:30:49 --> 00:30:53
			before God, then inshallah we
regulate that self regulation, you

00:30:53 --> 00:30:56
			start to change your behavior,
right. So but the hijab certainly

00:30:56 --> 00:31:00
			helped me because I would
remember, Oh, I can't do those

00:31:00 --> 00:31:02
			things. I can't do what I used to
do. I mean, I'm talking like,

00:31:02 --> 00:31:05
			right when I transitioned right,
when I first started wearing

00:31:05 --> 00:31:09
			hijab, it was a big adjustment.
But I thought it was such a so

00:31:09 --> 00:31:14
			cool. It was it was really like,
amazing to me, that just by

00:31:14 --> 00:31:17
			wearing something on my head, I
had hypervigilance, all of a

00:31:17 --> 00:31:22
			sudden of who I was, visa vie my
my relationship with Allah, and

00:31:22 --> 00:31:25
			the people were helping me and
that's one of the main reasons I

00:31:25 --> 00:31:28
			mean, obviously also because it's
farther than I believe in it. But

00:31:28 --> 00:31:32
			one of the reasons why I've always
loved my hijab and in sha Allah, I

00:31:32 --> 00:31:36
			pray that I always wear it. And I
always keep an eye on because of

00:31:36 --> 00:31:40
			that. It's such a great reminder
on how to do that. So you know,

00:31:40 --> 00:31:45
			this, this whole section is on
that on having that awareness and

00:31:45 --> 00:31:48
			renewing our faith and remembering
our purpose that Allah created us

00:31:48 --> 00:31:53
			to worship Him. And being really
committed, and our our purpose

00:31:53 --> 00:31:58
			that we have, you know, there's a
limited time that we all have, and

00:31:58 --> 00:32:02
			that we're going to do our best to
use our time in the service of

00:32:02 --> 00:32:08
			Allah subhanaw taala. And really,
truly, sincerely, because we're so

00:32:08 --> 00:32:12
			indebted, we feel so indebted and
feel so grateful for the blessing

00:32:12 --> 00:32:18
			of existence. That that is what
compels us that that is why we

00:32:18 --> 00:32:24
			choose to to wake up every day and
at the crack of dawn or before and

00:32:24 --> 00:32:31
			why we're always in pursuit of our
Lord inshallah. So, that's a

00:32:31 --> 00:32:36
			section on commitment. So we'll go
to the next section. I hope that

00:32:36 --> 00:32:40
			Allah, we're moving forward again,
I apologize for those who

00:32:41 --> 00:32:46
			were here and waiting for me,
Inshallah, we're going to still

00:32:46 --> 00:32:49
			get through this. Okay, so let's
see here.

00:32:51 --> 00:32:55
			The next section here is time. So
this minute um,

00:32:56 --> 00:33:00
			and it's it's pretty
serendipitous, as I was just

00:33:00 --> 00:33:03
			excusing myself for being here
late. But let's look at the

00:33:03 --> 00:33:07
			section and that this was a longer
section which I did not get to

00:33:07 --> 00:33:09
			type out the whole thing, but I'll
read. So we should all be

00:33:09 --> 00:33:13
			committed to usually utilizing our
time as wisely and productively as

00:33:13 --> 00:33:17
			possible to squander time or allow
the theft of this precious gift of

00:33:17 --> 00:33:20
			time is a sin, the reality of
which will only be clearer in the

00:33:20 --> 00:33:24
			next life. Each moment is
priceless, and once gone, can

00:33:24 --> 00:33:29
			never be replaced. Wasting time is
a perennial problem. The first

00:33:29 --> 00:33:33
			century stoic Seneca said that the
problem is not that we have such a

00:33:33 --> 00:33:38
			short space of time, but that we
waste so much of it. Life is long

00:33:38 --> 00:33:42
			enough, and it has been given in
sufficiently generous measure to

00:33:42 --> 00:33:46
			allow the accomplishment of the
very greatest things, if the whole

00:33:46 --> 00:33:50
			of it is well invested. But modern
life is a concerted conspiracy to

00:33:50 --> 00:33:56
			deprive us of our precious time.
The tragedies that most of us are

00:33:56 --> 00:34:00
			willful conspirators Subhanallah,
that's really a lot to

00:34:01 --> 00:34:05
			digest and think about. But
really, if we're being honest with

00:34:05 --> 00:34:08
			ourselves, holding ourselves
accountable, it's true. We do

00:34:08 --> 00:34:09
			waste a lot of time.

00:34:10 --> 00:34:15
			And our modern conveniences have
only made that so much more of a

00:34:15 --> 00:34:20
			reality for all of us. We don't
even have to move. Some days.

00:34:20 --> 00:34:24
			There's people who can spend their
entire day in their bed, because

00:34:24 --> 00:34:28
			they have everything coming to
them. Right. So there was a time

00:34:28 --> 00:34:32
			where we had to get up, get up,
we're forced to get up and leave

00:34:32 --> 00:34:37
			and get things but now with our
phones and apps and all of these

00:34:37 --> 00:34:42
			other services, just a click of a
button food comes to us our you

00:34:42 --> 00:34:46
			know whatever other important
things that we need groceries and

00:34:46 --> 00:34:49
			necessities they can come to us.
We want to shop we don't have to

00:34:49 --> 00:34:52
			go to the store anymore. You know
stores are shutting down malls are

00:34:52 --> 00:34:55
			shutting down because people don't
need to go outside anymore. They

00:34:55 --> 00:35:00
			don't choose to and they'd rather
shop online. So so many of these

00:35:00 --> 00:35:04
			Things are now redirected and
coming to us, we're not moving

00:35:04 --> 00:35:08
			anymore. But what are we doing in
with all that conveniences that we

00:35:08 --> 00:35:13
			are a lot of us anyway are just
indulging. And that's really the

00:35:13 --> 00:35:13
			big

00:35:15 --> 00:35:19
			problem of our time. So there's so
much indulgence of the knifes and

00:35:19 --> 00:35:23
			the knifes is lazy, it is
indulgent in and of itself. So

00:35:24 --> 00:35:28
			it's like we're feeding our little
knifes monsters that we all have

00:35:28 --> 00:35:32
			in there, and gorged and they're
really just out of control. And

00:35:32 --> 00:35:34
			that's why you're seeing so much

00:35:36 --> 00:35:39
			just hedonistic behavior and all
throughout the world and through

00:35:39 --> 00:35:45
			society. Because we've enabled our
egos to control us, we've done

00:35:45 --> 00:35:48
			that, just by not really
appreciating the value of our time

00:35:48 --> 00:35:50
			not being aware of things.

00:35:51 --> 00:35:56
			You know, even if you think about
leisure time, for example, that's

00:35:56 --> 00:35:59
			something that is such a blessing.
And it's one of the Hadith to you

00:35:59 --> 00:36:03
			know, there's a hadith to take
advantage of five before you lose

00:36:03 --> 00:36:07
			five, one of them is free time,
right? So the concept of free time

00:36:07 --> 00:36:11
			is also something pretty, it's a
modern reality, right? Because

00:36:12 --> 00:36:17
			back in the days, like I said, if
you go way before modern life,

00:36:17 --> 00:36:22
			people had to use all the time
that they could, especially if

00:36:22 --> 00:36:27
			you're talking about daylight
hours, this was the time of you

00:36:27 --> 00:36:32
			know, making income and food and
whatever else you needed to do to

00:36:32 --> 00:36:35
			make sure that you survived, so
you didn't have time to waste. And

00:36:35 --> 00:36:38
			then at night, you had to rest you
had to recuperate yet to recover.

00:36:38 --> 00:36:42
			And of course, there was worship.
And so there was just a very

00:36:42 --> 00:36:47
			regimented schedule. But now I
think we just have very open

00:36:47 --> 00:36:51
			schedules. And we can kind of do
as we like, and we're all you

00:36:51 --> 00:36:55
			know, guilty of this, of course, a
varying degrees, but we all do

00:36:55 --> 00:36:59
			certainly wastes time. So we have
to take ourselves into account and

00:36:59 --> 00:37:04
			say, how much of my time is being
wasted on things that are not

00:37:04 --> 00:37:08
			beneficial, and they're just
indulging, you know, whatever it

00:37:08 --> 00:37:12
			is that I like to do, and how much
of it is benefiting? Me, my

00:37:12 --> 00:37:16
			family, other people, I mean, if
you're doing service works or

00:37:16 --> 00:37:20
			doing good works, mashallah that
aren't necessarily ritual worship

00:37:20 --> 00:37:24
			or related to worship, you can
make those things, acts of

00:37:24 --> 00:37:27
			worship, because you're doing good
deeds, right for the sake of Allah

00:37:27 --> 00:37:31
			subhanaw taala. So always, you
know, understand, when we're

00:37:31 --> 00:37:36
			talking about time here, it's not,
you know, worship and and all the

00:37:36 --> 00:37:39
			ritual acts on one side and
everything else on the other. No,

00:37:39 --> 00:37:43
			it's about, is it beneficial, what
you're doing isn't benefiting

00:37:43 --> 00:37:47
			anybody? Is it good work? Is it
something that Allah subhanaw

00:37:47 --> 00:37:50
			taala will be pleased with? Or is
it

00:37:51 --> 00:37:54
			blameworthy? First of all, because
there's a lot of things that we

00:37:54 --> 00:37:59
			could be doing that are wrong,
that are just not right. You know,

00:37:59 --> 00:38:05
			and, and we have to take ourselves
into account or is it harmful, you

00:38:05 --> 00:38:09
			know, gossiping with consuming,
that, you know, things that are

00:38:09 --> 00:38:12
			not good to take in if you're
watching things, listening to

00:38:12 --> 00:38:17
			things that are haram or have
filth and foulness? Those are

00:38:17 --> 00:38:21
			things that are blameworthy. So
it's really understanding what

00:38:21 --> 00:38:25
			we're talking about, which is
beneficial actions, good deeds,

00:38:25 --> 00:38:28
			worship all those things? Or is
that what you're engaged in? Or is

00:38:28 --> 00:38:33
			it that you're just living, you
know, to your own comfort and

00:38:33 --> 00:38:38
			whims and desires, and you're not
really thinking about mortality.

00:38:38 --> 00:38:40
			And that's why the remembrance of
death is so important because when

00:38:40 --> 00:38:44
			you remember death, it is you
know, the, the destroyer of

00:38:44 --> 00:38:48
			desires, right. That's one of the
the terms for the remembrance of

00:38:48 --> 00:38:52
			death that will destroy our
desires, because you're, you can't

00:38:52 --> 00:38:54
			really think about

00:38:55 --> 00:38:59
			indulging when you're faced with
your own mortality, and you're in

00:38:59 --> 00:39:06
			you're facing it regularly or
often. So now, this section is a

00:39:06 --> 00:39:08
			bit longer, so I'll read what I
didn't get to type.

00:39:12 --> 00:39:14
			We fill our lives with
distractions and time consuming

00:39:14 --> 00:39:17
			trivialities, like mindless
entertainment, and countless other

00:39:17 --> 00:39:21
			activities that produce little or
no benefit. Perhaps the greatest

00:39:21 --> 00:39:24
			thieves of time in our age are the
television and the internet. So

00:39:24 --> 00:39:27
			now, I mean, Marshall, they're
getting direct. This is, you know,

00:39:27 --> 00:39:30
			these are our teachers and they're
telling us what we need to hear

00:39:30 --> 00:39:34
			trivial conversations on phones
and social media, our modern form

00:39:34 --> 00:39:38
			of vain talk, right the Quran says
the believers are those who avoid

00:39:38 --> 00:39:41
			vain talk more over the problems I
said, have informed us that Allah

00:39:41 --> 00:39:47
			loathes the he said she said part
of Akela right, or kala kala

00:39:47 --> 00:39:50
			conversations where you're just
kind of talking about oh, did you

00:39:50 --> 00:39:54
			hear about so and so? Oh, no, tell
me more and then it's just gossip

00:39:54 --> 00:39:58
			basically, in your, you know, in
the grapevine, as they say, this

00:39:58 --> 00:40:00
			is all blame

00:40:00 --> 00:40:03
			More the end and the fact that
Allah spa that loads that imagine

00:40:03 --> 00:40:06
			how much of us engage in that
every day.

00:40:07 --> 00:40:12
			Our lives are akin to an hourglass
and each grain of time that passes

00:40:12 --> 00:40:18
			takes one instant closer to our
inevitable meaning with online.

00:40:18 --> 00:40:23
			Reflection on deaths is a serious
and constant way. I'm sorry,

00:40:23 --> 00:40:27
			reflection on death in a serious
and constant way is one of the

00:40:27 --> 00:40:31
			greatest catalysts for change.
When terminally ill people realize

00:40:31 --> 00:40:35
			they're dying, they undergo a
profound transformation and make

00:40:35 --> 00:40:38
			peace with many of the people they
had hurt and had bad feelings

00:40:38 --> 00:40:43
			toward when they were well, we are
all terminally ill, and prisoners

00:40:43 --> 00:40:46
			on times death row, it is only a
matter of time before the

00:40:46 --> 00:40:50
			execution of the angel of death
makes his call, we should reflect

00:40:50 --> 00:40:53
			on the sound Hadith consider
yourselves already people of the

00:40:53 --> 00:40:54
			grave.

00:40:55 --> 00:40:58
			Well, while a governor's pardon is
rare in this world, Allah's pardon

00:40:58 --> 00:41:02
			is very much a possibility in the
next hope of a divine partner is

00:41:02 --> 00:41:06
			reason enough for good behavior.
While in prison, as reprieves are

00:41:06 --> 00:41:08
			generally given to model
prisoners. The problems was that

00:41:08 --> 00:41:12
			instead, this world is a prison
for the believer and a false

00:41:12 --> 00:41:14
			paradise. For the unbeliever. He
also said, there are two

00:41:14 --> 00:41:18
			blessings. Most people are cheated
out of good health and free time,

00:41:19 --> 00:41:21
			are very souls of the greatest
thieves robbing us of our good

00:41:21 --> 00:41:26
			health and free time. So really
powerful reminders on the value of

00:41:26 --> 00:41:31
			time the importance of making sure
that we are mindful of how we use

00:41:31 --> 00:41:35
			our time and that we are mindful
of our own inevitable demise.

00:41:35 --> 00:41:40
			Because, again, just to close this
section, when we remember death,

00:41:40 --> 00:41:44
			often, as someone so beautifully
said recently, and I'm so hailed

00:41:46 --> 00:41:51
			from from Yale, he, the chaplain
at Yale, he recently gave a talk

00:41:51 --> 00:41:57
			and he said, that when we remember
death, often it's the purpose of

00:41:57 --> 00:42:01
			that is that we, we are better at
living, we will live better,

00:42:01 --> 00:42:06
			right? It's not to get caught up
and be morbid and sad and

00:42:06 --> 00:42:10
			depressed, but it's actually to
beat to live better. So inshallah

00:42:10 --> 00:42:14
			that's the purpose of the value of
time and remembrance of death. The

00:42:14 --> 00:42:17
			next section, we're going to,
again, try to finish this up until

00:42:17 --> 00:42:20
			and I'll leave some time for
questions. If you're still with

00:42:20 --> 00:42:24
			me, I hope you are I again, I hope
you guys are here but if not,

00:42:24 --> 00:42:27
			Inshallah, you will get to watch
the recording. Oops, I went way

00:42:27 --> 00:42:33
			ahead. Okay, attitude. So this is
the next section. And then we have

00:42:33 --> 00:42:37
			one more this month. We were
created to know love and serve our

00:42:37 --> 00:42:41
			Lord and to honor our parents and
our faith is not complete, until

00:42:41 --> 00:42:46
			we want for humanity, what we want
for ourselves, let us aspire to

00:42:46 --> 00:42:49
			the people whom our Prophet
sallallahu Sallam will be proud of

00:42:49 --> 00:42:53
			them they have on the day he has
given the banner of praise. The

00:42:53 --> 00:42:57
			one hand, we should never settle
for anything less than excellence

00:42:57 --> 00:43:01
			in our lives. And for this
religion, sn virtuous excellence

00:43:01 --> 00:43:05
			in everything is the acme of our
faith we should set out to perfect

00:43:06 --> 00:43:08
			to the best of our ability, our
knowledge of Allah our love of

00:43:08 --> 00:43:11
			Allah and His Prophet sallallahu
Sallam in our services precious

00:43:11 --> 00:43:16
			gift to his precious gift to us
Islam. The prophesy to them, also

00:43:16 --> 00:43:20
			said surely Allah has prescribed
excellence in all things. Well, in

00:43:20 --> 00:43:24
			Allah, Allah ma, Mercy Nene, Allah
is with the people of excellence.

00:43:24 --> 00:43:28
			This is Chapter 2969. So
Subhanallah you know, this is just

00:43:28 --> 00:43:32
			your general attitude, you know,
having a really positive attitude

00:43:32 --> 00:43:38
			and always looking for beauty, you
know, sn excellence, but just

00:43:38 --> 00:43:41
			doing things with beauty during
things with that love doing things

00:43:41 --> 00:43:45
			with sincerity. This has to do
with the attitude that one brings

00:43:45 --> 00:43:50
			to anything, you know, if you have
a project for work or school, and

00:43:50 --> 00:43:53
			you don't really care much for it.
And you're not you don't care

00:43:53 --> 00:43:56
			about impressing your teachers or
your parents, you just want to get

00:43:56 --> 00:44:00
			it done. You're gonna do it maybe
because you don't want to fail,

00:44:00 --> 00:44:04
			but it might not be your best
work, right? And we've all worked

00:44:04 --> 00:44:08
			on groups where there's there are
those go getters who mashallah

00:44:08 --> 00:44:11
			really put in a lot of work. And
then there's those who don't do

00:44:11 --> 00:44:15
			anything, but they want all the
credit. So I think those dynamics

00:44:15 --> 00:44:18
			really do teach us a lot about our
nature. And you have to ask

00:44:18 --> 00:44:19
			yourself, how do I,

00:44:20 --> 00:44:24
			you know, how am I in those
situations? Do I come in hoping

00:44:24 --> 00:44:27
			someone else is just going to do
it all? And I'll just kind of

00:44:27 --> 00:44:31
			slide in with the bare minimum, or
do I actually put in a good

00:44:31 --> 00:44:35
			effort? And you know, we're all
sometimes just because of life, we

00:44:35 --> 00:44:35
			might,

00:44:36 --> 00:44:40
			you know, we might vacillate
between these different states.

00:44:40 --> 00:44:44
			Maybe sometimes we're really into
something sometimes we're not. But

00:44:44 --> 00:44:48
			I think in general, when it comes
to being Muslims, we should have a

00:44:48 --> 00:44:53
			very clear understanding of our
purpose. The fact that again,

00:44:53 --> 00:44:57
			we're here to serve Allah, and we
should know who he is. We should

00:44:57 --> 00:44:59
			feel inclined to get

00:45:00 --> 00:45:02
			close to him, to love him to
increase our love for Him to

00:45:02 --> 00:45:07
			always, always always have the
best opinion of Allah to never

00:45:08 --> 00:45:12
			question him and to never think
for even a moment to let your

00:45:12 --> 00:45:13
			heart betray you.

00:45:14 --> 00:45:18
			And to think all the biller in any
way where you question a lot,

00:45:18 --> 00:45:21
			because he is not one to be
questioned, we are the ones that

00:45:21 --> 00:45:25
			are questioned. So to really
strive for that type of

00:45:25 --> 00:45:28
			relationship with us pilot, of
course, the problem was and to

00:45:28 --> 00:45:31
			know him to know his Sierra, to,
to just really love him and to

00:45:31 --> 00:45:35
			appreciate him for all that he has
done for us and all that he will

00:45:35 --> 00:45:39
			do for us Inshallah, because of
course, it's his Shiva that

00:45:39 --> 00:45:44
			inshallah we all are, we all need
and we we are going to be

00:45:44 --> 00:45:50
			desperately and SICA are seeking
on the Day of Judgment. So, you

00:45:50 --> 00:45:55
			know, just being really clear that
we should feel this, this positive

00:45:55 --> 00:45:58
			yearning for Allah and His
prophesy centum, but also that we

00:45:58 --> 00:46:02
			understand our purpose, and we do
things well, we do things with a

00:46:02 --> 00:46:07
			good attitude, and a state of
gratitude and Shama. So this is

00:46:07 --> 00:46:10
			the section on attitude. And then
the last section for chapter

00:46:10 --> 00:46:16
			three, inshallah is on devotion,
we'll wait for the slide to come

00:46:16 --> 00:46:16
			up.

00:46:19 --> 00:46:23
			Here we are. So it's kind of, you
know, leading is a good segue

00:46:23 --> 00:46:26
			into, into this because it's
connected, we should commit to

00:46:26 --> 00:46:31
			realizing Kappa, within our
lifetimes, actively and

00:46:31 --> 00:46:35
			consciously and devote ourselves
more to it than others devote to

00:46:35 --> 00:46:40
			mastering the many trivialities
that in this life offers among

00:46:40 --> 00:46:45
			humanity are those who take idols
besides a lot. They love them with

00:46:45 --> 00:46:50
			the same love, one should have for
Allah, but those who believe Allah

00:46:50 --> 00:46:55
			believe, love Allah even more. So
Subhanallah, you know, just to

00:46:55 --> 00:47:00
			prioritize, to make sure that we
understand that again, we have a

00:47:00 --> 00:47:04
			great purpose here. And if we're
going to, you know, have like

00:47:04 --> 00:47:08
			slack off and really not do our
obligations to Allah. But then

00:47:08 --> 00:47:12
			we're so committed in our work and
in our relationships, you see

00:47:12 --> 00:47:18
			people who are so committed in
their material pursuits, worldly

00:47:18 --> 00:47:21
			pursuits, but they'll make a lot
of excuses when it comes to

00:47:21 --> 00:47:24
			worship. This is a person who's
got their priorities completely

00:47:24 --> 00:47:30
			upside down, right? So we have to
have that template to know what is

00:47:30 --> 00:47:36
			expected of us and to really be
always aware of our Lord. And then

00:47:36 --> 00:47:39
			they go on to say, realizing that
quote, during our lives is

00:47:39 --> 00:47:43
			possible. There is no injunction
in the Quran that cannot be

00:47:43 --> 00:47:47
			achieved by those it is incumbent
upon the purpose of all the

00:47:47 --> 00:47:51
			wondrous signs that Allah has
placed in us life, ability will

00:47:51 --> 00:47:56
			speech sight, hearing and knowing
will be realized. And here almost

00:47:56 --> 00:48:00
			Pamela says, In the Quran, Wolfie
and Percy come after Allah to the

00:48:00 --> 00:48:06
			zeroing in yourselves, do you not
see chapter 5121. So somehow Iowa,

00:48:07 --> 00:48:11
			you know, just really powerful
reminders about accountability,

00:48:11 --> 00:48:14
			right? There's a lot of actions
throughout chapter three practical

00:48:14 --> 00:48:18
			steps, right to changing your
conditions. We started off with

00:48:18 --> 00:48:23
			the five pillars, active outreach,
right focus cooperation, and we

00:48:23 --> 00:48:27
			can actually I do have that slide,
just to kind of have a summary of

00:48:27 --> 00:48:30
			everything we talked about in
chapter three. I'll go back to

00:48:30 --> 00:48:31
			that slide.

00:48:32 --> 00:48:36
			In a minute here while it catches
up. So we went all the way through

00:48:36 --> 00:48:40
			all of this somehow on chapter
three, but here's the slide. So we

00:48:40 --> 00:48:43
			talked about the five pillars
active outreach, focus,

00:48:43 --> 00:48:47
			cooperation, good character,
kinship, families, charity, poor

00:48:47 --> 00:48:51
			and remembrance of Allah commanded
good and evil and forbidding evil.

00:48:51 --> 00:48:54
			And And today the last sections
here on empathy supplication

00:48:54 --> 00:48:58
			physical health, commitment, time,
attitude and devotion. Subhan

00:48:58 --> 00:49:00
			Allah may Allah bless our teachers
with a comprehensive

00:49:01 --> 00:49:05
			list of things that we can all
work on no matter where you are in

00:49:05 --> 00:49:09
			your spiritual journey you can
find something on this list to

00:49:09 --> 00:49:14
			work on or multiple things I'm
sure that you can help to advance

00:49:14 --> 00:49:19
			your your state you know in your
journey. So and have them Allah

00:49:19 --> 00:49:22
			bless them and protect them for
just putting all this together for

00:49:22 --> 00:49:26
			us. We have a chapter for
inshallah for next time where we

00:49:26 --> 00:49:30
			are going to talk about exercises
for attaining Taqwa. So we ended

00:49:30 --> 00:49:34
			ended on devotion which talked
about the importance of, of Taqwa.

00:49:34 --> 00:49:38
			And now we're going to talk about
exercises for actually how do we,

00:49:39 --> 00:49:42
			how do we attain that goal. So I
look forward to that discussion

00:49:42 --> 00:49:45
			with all of you. And I'm going to
stop here so that we can see if

00:49:45 --> 00:49:48
			there's any questions again, thank
you so much for sticking on. If

00:49:48 --> 00:49:51
			you are still with me, and I
apologize for the late arrival,

00:49:52 --> 00:49:55
			but Hamdulillah we made it. So let
me stop share.

00:49:56 --> 00:49:59
			And then see if there are any
questions here.

00:50:04 --> 00:50:09
			Okay, sorry, I have to go through
a few different screens. So

00:50:09 --> 00:50:10
			hopefully I'll find

00:50:11 --> 00:50:12
			something here

00:50:18 --> 00:50:22
			someone's asking somebody can will
this be saved? Yes, SR manera, it

00:50:22 --> 00:50:26
			will be saved. All of the talks
that we do at MCC are handled are

00:50:26 --> 00:50:29
			recorded and we save them.
There'll be here on Facebook, in

00:50:29 --> 00:50:34
			the video section on MCC East Bay
page as well as on YouTube. So you

00:50:34 --> 00:50:39
			can see all of the talks. And this
is I think, Gosh, I want to say

00:50:39 --> 00:50:43
			session number 12 or 13. I can't
remember. We're we've been working

00:50:43 --> 00:50:48
			on this text for a while. So and
Hamdulillah. We have quite a few

00:50:48 --> 00:50:51
			sessions for this class already
recorded and available, but you

00:50:51 --> 00:50:56
			should be able to see this as
well. The icy breeze grateful Oh,

00:50:56 --> 00:51:00
			Santa Monica waikem. Salam, thank
you for your greeting. I

00:51:00 --> 00:51:03
			appreciate it. I don't know if
there's any more questions. Let me

00:51:03 --> 00:51:06
			refresh here on Facebook.

00:51:07 --> 00:51:10
			I don't see any more questions
there. But let me go to YouTube.

00:51:10 --> 00:51:13
			And we'll see if we have any more
comments here.

00:51:23 --> 00:51:28
			Okay, I appreciate it. I don't
know. Sorry. Alright. So I have a

00:51:28 --> 00:51:31
			question here. Michelle. Sounds
like I'm sister OSI. How does one

00:51:31 --> 00:51:34
			convincingly show loved ones up
that films music and media outlets

00:51:34 --> 00:51:37
			pollute the spiritual heart that
the malevolent agenda is to

00:51:37 --> 00:51:40
			promote destructive vices? What a
great question is like Lafayette

00:51:40 --> 00:51:43
			and sisters a Fiat, mashallah, for
that? Great question. You know,

00:51:43 --> 00:51:48
			it's, it is hard when we are
speaking from emotion, and I've

00:51:48 --> 00:51:52
			always found, just in my own
experience with my family, if

00:51:52 --> 00:51:55
			you're on, you know, people are on
different wavelengths, or pages,

00:51:55 --> 00:51:59
			whatever. And so when you speak
from a motion, you're gonna get a

00:51:59 --> 00:52:02
			mixed bag of reactions, because
people are just a different

00:52:02 --> 00:52:07
			states. But one of the best things
that I think just does make for a

00:52:07 --> 00:52:11
			stronger case, when you're trying
to convince someone is doing the

00:52:11 --> 00:52:16
			research and actually presenting
with facts, whether it's, there's

00:52:16 --> 00:52:19
			an I'm sure there are, you know, I
don't, I can't think of anything

00:52:19 --> 00:52:23
			off the top of my head, but I'm
certain that there are either

00:52:23 --> 00:52:27
			articles that are written about
just the negative effects of a lot

00:52:27 --> 00:52:31
			of the modern, you know,
entertainment that we have, I

00:52:31 --> 00:52:35
			mean, spiritually, but also just,
emotionally, mentally, if you look

00:52:35 --> 00:52:39
			at the themes of a lot of the
film, and, you know, just the

00:52:39 --> 00:52:42
			shows are just really dark.
They're very, very dark and

00:52:42 --> 00:52:46
			demonic. And you see people, I
mean, I don't know, I just think

00:52:46 --> 00:52:51
			it's not a coincidence that you
see all of these anxiety disorders

00:52:51 --> 00:52:54
			and suicidal ideation and a lot of
depressive disorders increasing.

00:52:55 --> 00:52:58
			And if you're looking at what
people are spending their time on,

00:52:59 --> 00:53:03
			you know, what are they doing? Who
are they engaging with the most,

00:53:03 --> 00:53:07
			you know, if you're spending it on
social media all day, and just

00:53:07 --> 00:53:10
			browsing and there's research that
already confirms that, you know,

00:53:10 --> 00:53:13
			you're looking at social media,
most people do feel depressed

00:53:13 --> 00:53:16
			after browsing through Instagram,
or Facebook or whatever, and

00:53:16 --> 00:53:19
			looking at other people's lives,
they just feel like they're

00:53:19 --> 00:53:23
			missing out. So it contributes to
a lot of problems, you know, with

00:53:23 --> 00:53:27
			with self image and just seeing
oneself differently because you're

00:53:27 --> 00:53:29
			comparing and contrasting. So
social media, for sure, there's

00:53:29 --> 00:53:34
			research but television and film,
certainly to because so much of it

00:53:34 --> 00:53:38
			has to do with promoting things,
at least for Muslims anyway, that

00:53:38 --> 00:53:43
			are very much against our faith. I
mean, even our own Muslim actors

00:53:43 --> 00:53:46
			and people who are in Hollywood,
unfortunately, are also falling

00:53:46 --> 00:53:49
			into the same traps, right, where
they're taking on, you know,

00:53:49 --> 00:53:53
			characters, and not all of them,
but some of them certainly are

00:53:53 --> 00:53:57
			filling roles that are just
they're doing things that are

00:53:57 --> 00:54:01
			completely haram and then on
public, you know, on a screen for

00:54:01 --> 00:54:04
			millions and billions of people to
watch all over the world. You have

00:54:04 --> 00:54:09
			to think about the factor I mean,
how you sinning or when we sin

00:54:09 --> 00:54:13
			privately, it's between us and
Allah. But when we publish our

00:54:13 --> 00:54:17
			sins we know from the Hadith This
is really very dangerous, all the

00:54:17 --> 00:54:20
			blood and so many people now are
publishing their sins. So a lot of

00:54:20 --> 00:54:24
			that has to do with you know, yes,
actors are doing that. But even

00:54:24 --> 00:54:28
			now on for example, tick tock or
other social media, you see a lot

00:54:28 --> 00:54:33
			of Muslims just falling into the
traps, you know, of shaitan by

00:54:33 --> 00:54:36
			mimicking and doing what everybody
else is doing, not really thinking

00:54:36 --> 00:54:39
			about. There's negative impacts to
these behaviors. There's spiritual

00:54:39 --> 00:54:44
			negative impacts emotional mental.
So think relationship, you know

00:54:44 --> 00:54:48
			how many marriages have fallen
apart because of, for example,

00:54:48 --> 00:54:52
			* addiction. This is a very
real problem in our community.

00:54:52 --> 00:54:57
			There are people who are addicted
to *, because they, you

00:54:57 --> 00:54:59
			know, started just allowing

00:55:00 --> 00:55:04
			or you know themselves to, to get
caught up and things and not

00:55:04 --> 00:55:08
			really guarding themselves. And so
we have to take seriously, lower

00:55:08 --> 00:55:12
			your gaze, you know, you open the
door to a lot of these things, the

00:55:12 --> 00:55:15
			floodgates will open upon you. And
if you're weak spiritually, you're

00:55:15 --> 00:55:19
			not praying you're not in a state
of well do. You know you, it's

00:55:19 --> 00:55:22
			like you're really making it hard
for yourself and Mujahid is even

00:55:22 --> 00:55:26
			harder. And so many of our youth
especially are really caught up in

00:55:26 --> 00:55:31
			this. So if you're you want to
convince your family, I would

00:55:31 --> 00:55:34
			certainly say try to look for
research that supports what you

00:55:34 --> 00:55:38
			are concerned about. There are
conservative websites, even they

00:55:38 --> 00:55:41
			don't have to be Muslim per se,
you know, there's conservative

00:55:41 --> 00:55:44
			Christian groups and other groups
that are very concerned about

00:55:44 --> 00:55:48
			media, in this country or in this
world. And they're trying to

00:55:48 --> 00:55:52
			provide alternatives, but they do
oftentimes take, you know, do the

00:55:52 --> 00:55:55
			research and report for you. So
that you can make a pretty

00:55:55 --> 00:55:59
			convincing argument that look, you
know, by watching the shows, or

00:55:59 --> 00:56:01
			listening to the type of music or
playing these types of video

00:56:01 --> 00:56:03
			games, this is what you're
subjecting yourself or your

00:56:03 --> 00:56:08
			children to, please take it
seriously. And inshallah just ask

00:56:08 --> 00:56:12
			for a lot of Da but be gentle
because you know, people are at

00:56:12 --> 00:56:16
			different stages and you want to
never come across self righteous,

00:56:16 --> 00:56:20
			that's, I think one of the biggest
hardships that people have when

00:56:20 --> 00:56:24
			they're giving this Yeah, is when
you're correcting another person,

00:56:24 --> 00:56:27
			even though that's not your
intention, because they're not

00:56:27 --> 00:56:31
			where you are. And you know, it
could be shaitan it could be their

00:56:31 --> 00:56:35
			own nafs they just want to kind of
shut down what you're saying, even

00:56:35 --> 00:56:40
			if it's true, they'll interpret
your words to be as though you're

00:56:40 --> 00:56:44
			judging them. So you have to be
very careful in your delivery. You

00:56:44 --> 00:56:49
			know, that's why making sure
you're not emotional is really

00:56:49 --> 00:56:52
			important because as soon as
emotions get in the picture, it

00:56:52 --> 00:56:57
			sounds like there's some ulterior
you know, motive or, or or just it

00:56:57 --> 00:57:00
			can go in so many different ways.
But if you're like listen, I love

00:57:00 --> 00:57:03
			you, I care about you. What do you
know, here let's talk about this

00:57:03 --> 00:57:07
			let's have a discussion and and
have an open dialogue. Very

00:57:07 --> 00:57:10
			different than just coming in and
going, Hey, stop doing this, this

00:57:10 --> 00:57:14
			is wrong and you know, kind of
like you've already figured it

00:57:14 --> 00:57:16
			out, you're just going to tell
them what to do. I like to have

00:57:16 --> 00:57:18
			dialogue I like to just kind of
bring things up but you got to

00:57:18 --> 00:57:21
			know your stuff, you got to
research you got to have numbers

00:57:21 --> 00:57:25
			and stuff on hand. So do the work
first and you will be more

00:57:25 --> 00:57:30
			convincing. Inshallah so I hope
that answers your question long

00:57:30 --> 00:57:31
			answer for your question.

00:57:34 --> 00:57:37
			And so are there any other
questions here because I don't see

00:57:37 --> 00:57:38
			them but I will

00:57:40 --> 00:57:41
			go back to

00:57:43 --> 00:57:49
			okay, I don't see any more on
Facebook any more here on YouTube

00:57:51 --> 00:57:54
			or not? Then we can close up and I
want to thank you guys again for

00:57:54 --> 00:57:56
			sticking it out with me.

00:57:57 --> 00:58:03
			And I apologize for being late.
Inshallah. Okay, so I don't see

00:58:03 --> 00:58:07
			any other questions but I do want
to return this in terms of some of

00:58:07 --> 00:58:12
			you here Mashallah. Man when I
want to say Issa, Hi, I'm from
