All praises to Allah.
All praises to Allah.
All praises to Allah who guided us to
this,
who guided us to Islam and to iman
and to his Mubarak house on this Mubarak
hour of this Mubarak day, and we were
not to be guided.
All praise is to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
in commensurate with the majesty of his countenance
indeed, greatness of your his authority.
Oh Allah to his praise as his commensurate
with the majesty of your countenance and the
greatness of your authority.
Oh, we do not limit you with any
praise we can come up with ourselves. Rather,
we admit that you're the only one who
knows the true extent of your praise worthy.
And may the peace and blessings of Allah
subhanahu wa ta'ala be upon his servant and
master,
our Lord, Sayed Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam.
May the peace and blessings of Allah, subhanahu
wa ta'ala,
be upon our servant and master, Sayidam Muhammad
sallallahu alaihi wasallam, and upon his noble companions
and upon his pure wives and upon his
and
blessed family and progeny and upon all of
those who follow all of their way until
the day of judgement.
Brothers and sisters, Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam was
asked
in a hadith by saying Assad bin Abu
Akas,
who narrates
was asked by who is from
the from
amongst the noble men of Quresh, from amongst
the original people who accepted Islam, from amongst
the close relatives of Rasulullah salallahu alaihi wa
sallam. And those companions who are with Rasool
Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam through thick and thin
through all of his life. And from amongst
those who have great authority amongst the people
of Islam, and and amongst the Sahaba
after Rasulullah sallallahu alaihi wa sallam passed from
this world.
He was
a warrior, and he was a tough guy.
He's a very
accomplished swordsman and soldier, and he was someone
that the messenger of Allah sallallahu alaihi wasallam
captained
commanded position in military matters, and he was
someone who was looked up to by the
companions of the Messenger of Allah salallahu alaihi
wa sallam.
He asked the messenger of Allah salallahu alaihi
wa sallam,
who are those people amongst thee?
Amongst this ummah who are going to be
tested the most severely?
Who are the people amongst this ummah who
are gonna be tested the most severely? Who
are the people from amongst Allah ta'ala's creation
who are going to be tested the most
severely? Nabi sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said, the
prophets.
Then those who are most like them, and
then after that those who are most like
them. Meaning, the degree to which you
resemble
one of those people from Allah
the best of his creation.
That's the degree to which you tested. And
the less the resemblance is, the less the
test is
Nabi further says, Whoever's deen is solid.
Whoever's deen is solid, whoever's deen is firm,
that person will be tested very severely and
very harshly.
And whoever is deen is weak,
whoever cannot take a whole lot, Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala will test that person less harshly,
less severely.
This is not physical
physical ability to take hardship.
Because indeed some of the people who are
physically strongest
are mentally and spiritually weakest.
And some of the people are physically weakest
are mentally and spiritually the strongest.
The amount of pain most women go through
in childbirth,
Many men will never experience that amount of
pain nor would they be able to handle
themselves or keep their composure if they're exposed
to it. It's not about physical
strength and and and and and,
physical toughness. It's about what? It's about the
strength in a person's heart, and the strength
that a person is able to take for
the sake of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
What is the reason for this? Test.
What is the reason for this? This this
state that Allah test
the most
people who are most like the mbya alayhi
who salahu alaihi wasalam the most, and test
the people whose being is solid the most?
Is it because Allah
wishes for the people who love him to
live a horrible and miserable life?
Is it because Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala wishes
to reward those people who disobey him and
wishes to,
punish the people who obey him and who
love him? That's not the reason.
That's not the reason. And this is an
idea, a wrong idea that we have in
our own heads. This is an idea many
of us carry around with us. Most of
us have the common sense not to say
it out loud in front of other people
because it will make for awkward conversations at
dinner parties, and it will make
for
socially
unacceptable
situations to happen. This is not the reason
that
comes sit on the road with Muslims.
The reason is not because Allah
wishes to what? Wishes to punish the, the
people who love him. The reason itself is
mentioned at the end of the hadith.
What is it?
It's because Allah
wishes the akhirah to be for those people
who love him. He wishes them to enter
without any sin on their head. He wishes
them to enter with a clean slate.
Every difficulty you go through with iman, Allah
subhanahu wa ta'ala writes for you a good
deed because of it. Every difficulty you go
through with iman, Allah ta'ala erases a sin
that you've committed because of it. Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala erases your rate because of it.
If you do not believe in the
this deen will make very little sense to
you. If you do not remember the
this deen will be very tedious for you
to follow.
But if you understand that this is the
niram of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala, that he
gives the people of Kufr all of their
reward in this world, so they show up,
You Muqtiamah empty handed. And that he gives
the people of iman
difficulty, so they show up, You Muftiama, a
sinless. Then it will make sense to you.
Allah's humble on the people of this is
what? It's doubled.
One is that he will erase your sins
from you, from his love through this tribulation
and test in this world so that you
don't show so that you show up with
him.
It's a clean slate. The second thing is
when he gives you in this world, he
doesn't charge for you charge you for it.
It doesn't deduct from your good deeds. A
kafir, what he receives from this world, it
is a a reward for his good deeds
so that he had no good deed.
Here he just gives you something to get
by. Here he gives you what? He just
gives you something to get by. This same
concept of this hadith is elaborated by
who narrates a similar saying from the messenger
of Allah
when he was ill, when he was in
his
illness of death before he was about to
pass from this world.
And it's known that he was in great
pain
when he was dying.
Is narrated
he entered upon the messenger of Allah sallallahu
alaihi wa sallam when he was he was
he was in severe pain from the illness
of his death.
The illness that he would die from, he
was in severe pain. And he was covered
with a thick blanket.
A person can imagine that somebody who is
in the Arabian Peninsula, a place that is
very rarely cool.
For them to be under a blanket means
what? That the person is extremely ill. That
he's covered with a very big blanket Said,
Abu Saeed al
Khudr said, I placed my hand on Rasulullah
from above the blanket.
And I said, you Rasoolallah, your fever has
become
very very very strong.
Your fever has become very strong. You're extremely
ill. You're extremely sick.
He said
what?
He says, This is the way that difficulty
is put upon us, and this is the
way that our reward is multiplied with Allah
Which is what?
This is Rasulullah
of
Allah
a'ala system. This is Rasulullah salallahu alaihi wa
sallam bearing witness to the system of Allah
subhanahu wa ta'ala. That what? He didn't say,
oh, yes. I this is horrible. I hate
this. Why me? Why am I going through
this? It would have been nice if I
wasn't sick. It would have been nice if
this happened. Would it no. He says,
this is the way that
difficulty is made severe upon us, and this
is the way that our reward is multiplied,
sallallahu alaihi wa sallam.
This is something very important.
There is something in the deen of a
person called
What is
That you must struggle with difficulty.
You must struggle with difficulty.
Unfortunately,
many of the people who have stood on
the member of rasulullah salallahu alaihi wa sallam
have sold our community snake oil and have
told them, yes, everything is easy, everything will
be easy. Some of them said, what? Don't
make your deen difficult.
Don't worry about their strict adherence to the
shara of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. Don't make
your dream difficult for yourself. Make everything easy.
Some of the people have said, no. No.
No. Practice the sharia and everything will be
easy. Don't worry about it. The fact of
the matter is what? The hadith very clearly
indicates that the person who is the closest
in their character, and in their disposition, and
in their faith to Rasulullah
alaihi wa sallam, that person, it's not going
to be a source of their deen being
made easy. In fact, it will be a
reason for their deen being even more difficult
for them going through even more difficulty.
Again, it's very important to understand why what's
happening is happening.
Rasulullah salallahu alaihi wa sallam, one of the
the methodologies
used in pedagogy to teach was what? He
would tell people the reason why they're doing
what they're doing.
The difficulty is going to be there. Is
part of the deen of Islam.
Anyone who ever tells you in the dunya
that you will get something without working hard
for it, that person is lying to you
and cheating you. And anyone who tells you
that you're going to get something easily when
you die. With Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala, it's
an even bigger lie and even bigger cheat.
And anyone who tells something, you're going to
receive something in the akhirah forever and ever.
Without some sort of difficulty, that person is
even bigger liar, even bigger cheater. Rather if
something is worth having, it's worth working for.
And then Nabi salallahu alayhi wa sallam taught
us
what? Why we're going through these difficulties that
we're going through. Trust me, just having, you
know,
some crazy guy show up on TV or
several crazy people show up on TV and
say something bad about your community
or somebody else something out of a moving
take that crack at you while you're walking
down the street. This is not good. It's
not a fun thing. It's not something that
we look forward to. But trust me, it's
not the most difficult thing that Muslims have
gone through.
Not today nor in the in the past.
Not today, nor in the past. Not in
this land, nor in any other land. There
were people who were brought here in chains.
There were people who were lashed to death,
who were taken away from their homeland, from
their from their from their family. There
were who were chained and brought here as
slaves. You're going through nothing compared to what
they went through.
But still, what they went through, their reward
is with Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. What you're
going through, your reward is with Allah ta'ala.
Looking at the immigration Canada website and trying
to run away from it, it's not going
to help you at all.
A, when you run, you're running from the
father of Allah ta'ala to the father of
Allah ta'ala. You're running from your destiny to
your destiny. If the difficulty is going to
catch up with you, it's gonna find you.
It'll find you wherever you are. Wherever you
are. Even if you're sitting in secure security
in in in a warm room in your
bed and in your blanket, the difficulty will
find you one way or the other. The
second thing is what? Even if you evade
the difficulty, if you evade the mujahada,
what are you evading? You're evading the mercy
of Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala. You're evading the
forgiveness of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala. Truly cursed
is somebody who is able to evade Allah
Ta'ala's mercy. That mercy which covers every single
thing, and covers every single person in this
world and it will cover the ones that
he loves in the hereafter. Truly, this is
a sign of a bad faith,
of of of having a bad faith and
having very little,
luck and having very little, in the way
of providential,
gift that a person should be able to
run away from the
of Allah and the of Allah So when
who cannot take how much difficulty he's going
through. What does he say? He says, this
is the way we are tested. And this
is the way Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala multiplies
our reward. Sallallahu alaihi wasallam. Then said,
he asked a question from,
which is very similar to the question of
He says, who are the people who are
most tested? You know the answers to prophets
and those people who are like the prophets,
Nabi sallallahu alayhi wasalam answers the question slightly
differently
here. He says, You Rasoolah, who are the
people who are most tested? He says, alayhi
wassalam.
Then he's asked, then who? Then he says
the The people of knowledge.
Why? Because
The ulama are the inheritors of the prophets
alayhi musaatoasalam.
The ulama are the inheritors of the prophets
alayhi musaatoasalam.
Those people? Who is that class of people
in this that are most like the prophets?
So the people of knowledge. This is part
of our. As a side note, if there's
anybody who walks around and says, yes. The
the
backwards messed up this
and these backwards people, blah blah blah. If
someone chose Allah chose someone to carry the
book of Allah to Allah in his heart,
and chose someone to carry the hadith of
the messenger of Allah sallallahu alaihi wa sallam
and his knowledge in his heart, and chose
someone to carry that knowledge of fiqh and
sharia in their heart, and you have a
bad opinion of them, you have a bad
opinion of those people who Allah and his
Rasool, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam love. Because the
hadith of the prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam,
not just in these 2 ahadith, but in
many places explicitly corroborates that what? The ulama
are the people who are most like the
and they are the one who discharge the
function in this that's most like
the
Says then who? He said,
who who after the He said, the.
The righteous people. Who are the? They are
the people who religiously keep the commandments of
our sacred Sharia,
And everything they do, and it that they
abstain from by day and night through their
eyes, through their tongues, through what they eat
and drink, through what they touch, through what
they feel, through what they do as a
living, through how they earn their living, all
of these things. The people who do that,
they are what? They are the salihun. Nabi
then elaborates. He says regarding this group of
people, he says that one of them one
of them is such a person that even
if he were to be,
tested, his test would be so severe that
it would be something like,
being eaten by ticks.
Can you imagine what that is? A tick
is a small insect. So is one tick
able to eat an entire person?
No.
Imagine an infestation like they said that there
are people that were tested so severely that
they would one of them would be eaten
by tick ticks. And another man would be
tested so severely
by poverty that he would find nothing to
wear except for, like, an overcoat.
Imagine someone only had, like, an overcoat or
a trench coat. That's all they had to
wear. No shirt. No pants. That's how broke
they were, that they could only find an
irregular piece of clothing in order to clothe
their nakedness. None of us is going through
that type of difficulty.
None of us is going through that type
of difficulty.
This is the way Allah test the people
that he loves.
And
says one more thing on top of it.
He says one more thing on top of
it. He says,
That these are such people. Their iman is
such. Remember, we talk about mujahada struggling, and
we talk about mujahada, bearing witness to the
system of Allah ta'ala. That one person is
struggling, and they wonder why me. And another
person struggles, and everyone thinks this person is
crazy because of how happy they are and
how peaceful they are with Allah subhanahu wa
ta'ala. Not just peaceful.
Some people,
how much
ecstasy they have, how what an ecstatic state
they have because of their knowledge of the
maqam they have with Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
That one of them would be in such
a state, and he would be even happier
with such a state than one of you
would have been had someone given them a
great amount of money or given them a
great gift.
Why? Because they understand who it's coming from,
what's going on, and who it's coming from.
It's coming from Allah
All of this is for the good.
All of this is for the khair. All
of the difficulty, all of this stuff you
see on the news, and it depresses people.
All of these things people challenge, say bad
things about you, say bad things about your
deen, say bad things about about our women,
say bad things about our forefathers, say bad
things about the deen of Allah subhanahu wa
ta'ala. All of these things are good.
And the people in the past, they saw
the good because they saw who it's coming
from.
Nabi alayhi saw to Islam
and a hadith could see that he narrates.
Right? He in a hadith could see that
he narrates such brought by, Imam Hakim
and his and is narrated by Saidna Abdardah
radiAllahu
radiAllahu radiAllahu radiAllahu further elaborates what is this?
This happiness that the people have when they're
going through difficulty.
Right? Think about it for a second. Think
about you yourself, because, oh, that's great, There's
some pious people in the past and blah
blah blah. What does it have to do
with me? The answer to the question is
something that's variable with every person. Maybe it
has nothing to do with you. If you
don't look forward to having that happiness with
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, that howl with Allah
Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, maybe it has nothing to
do with you. Maybe this khutbah is completely
irrelevant.
Everybody should at least close their eyes for
a second, and make sincere dua to Allah
Subhanahu wa ta'ala. Whether you get eaten alive
by ticks or not is not what you're
supposed to ask for. But you make dua
to Allah to Allah. Yeah. Allah give me
a howl with you also,
that I'm pleased with you because you're pleased
with me as well.
And so hadith narrated
by, Imam Hakim,
in his narrated
by
said, I heard Abu Kasim, the prophet, the
messenger of Allah sallallahu alaihi wasallam say,
oh, Isa. He's
Says, yeah,
Isa.
So, Risa, I will raise an ummah. I
will raise an ummah after you, such an
ummah that when something they love happens, something
that they like happens, they will praise, and
they will be thankful. And if something difficult
or something that they dislike happens to them,
they will they will hope for reward from
Allah and they will be
they will they will hope for reward from
Allah
and they will be patient.
And they are people who have no forbearance,
and they are people who have no knowledge.
This is an interesting
interesting statement. That there are people who have
no forbearance and they have no knowledge. So
if you're listening also, you'll also wonder how
are they going to be able to cope
with all this and have such a high
if they have no forbearance and no knowledge.
Says and he said, Naysa alaihis salam himself,
he said, what? He said, oh my lord.
So how are they gonna be able to
cope with all of this difficulty and have
such a good response to the difficulties that
they're given despite the fact that they have
no forbearance, no good character, nor any nor
any knowledge?
What does Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala say?
Allah ta'ala says, I myself will give them
from what? I myself will give them from
my hillm.
From my hillm, from my forbearance. Allah ta'ala
is Al Khalim. I will give them for
my and I will give them for my
I will give them for my forbearance, I
will give them for my knowledge.
Now tell me something,
whose whose good character and forbearance is superior
to that of Allah
Whose good character and forbearance is even able
to resemble that of Allah
ta'ala from the creation?
Whose knowledge is able to resemble the knowledge
of Allah subhanahu ta'ala from his creation? Who's
going to stand and say, I have a
PhD from Harvard. My aim is greater than
anyone who created the heavens and the earth
from nothing.
This is a special gift Allah gave to
this ummah.
This is the help of Allah This
is why this Umma has survived from that
time until this time.
This is why
Allah no matter how difficult things get, the
more difficulty there is, the more help that
comes from Allah
And the help of Allah is superior to
the help that you and I can give
ourselves.
This is the meaning of what? One of
them would be even happier with the difficulty
Allah gave them than one of you would
have been with the gift that Allah gave
you. Why? Because they prefer
the over
the themselves, over their own forbearance, and over
their own good character.
Now, tell me something,
if you wish, if you desire, if you
don't desire for the of Allah to enter
into your heart, then I apologize, you should
have gone to the other, the one at
12 o'clock. But if you desire that the
end of the hand of Allah Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala should enter into your heart,
should beautify your heart, should be like the
other guests inside of your heart that you
wish would never leave. If you have this
desire, how is it going to enter into
your heart if your heart is not clean?
If your heart is dirty,
if your heart is filthy,
if you love money more than you love
your brother, if you love money more than
you love salah, if you love having a
nice car more than you love having this
knowledge, if you love having a certain position
in your corporation more than you love,
having a position with Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
If your heart is
dirty, if your heart what is dirty? Things
are outside of their place. Right? What is
the place of the heart? The only thing
that the heart was made for is the
law of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
If your heart is dirty, if everything is
in disarray and in a mess, how do
you expect this to come? If your heart
is polluted by looking at the Haram and
by listening to the Haram,
and by touching the Haram, and by eating
and drinking the Haram, how do you expect
this help to come?
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala doesn't give you from
his him and from his ilm just because,
and and I'm from Pakistan, and I'm from
India, of course, Allah ta'ala would help us.
And I'm beautiful, and I'm smart. I read
I prayed one time. How are you gonna
have this enter into your heart? Brothers and
sisters, the challenges in front of this community,
the challenges in front of this community are
overwhelming.
Whoever is telling you that, oh, it will
be okay, don't worry, just go back to
your business right now, that person is trying
to put you to sleep before your slaughter.
This community is going to go through great
difficulty. Our sheikh and teacher, sheikh Amin, who
gives kufa here from time to time as
well, he very simply said it. Because whoever
here is to make money, if your purpose
is like, I'm just gonna, like, lay low,
pray my father has any prayers, make as
much money as I can. I'm just trying
to pay off this house. I'm just trying
to do this, that, and the other thing.
Right? He says, if you're here for the
sake of Allah, you'll be just fine. Whoever
is here to milk the fat cow, you're
in trouble.
I'm putting on notice, lose some sleep at
night, you're in trouble. It's not gonna happen.
It's not gonna work. It's all gonna fall
apart. If you're here for the sake of
Allah ta'ala, this is a beautiful gift from
him. That there was a time maybe 2
weeks ago you thought you would have been
able to get by without worrying about your
state with Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. Now everybody's
back is to the wall, and everybody is
saying, oh my goodness. This does not look
like looking like it's gonna be good. I
need to shore up and tighten up and
clean up my house with Allah subhanahu wa
ta'ala.
If you just received that gift from Allah
Allah then all of it is worth it.
All of it is something to be happy
about and thankful for. Whatever that you see
in front of you, don't run away from
it. Embrace it. Make it into your friend.
It will give you a you that's better
than the you you already have. Allah
give all of us so much
tofim.
