Alhamdulillah by the father of Allah Ta'ala we've
reached this Mubarak
day of Arafah,
9th of Dhul Hijjah.
Allah accept the standing
of the Hijjah who stood
in front of Allah Ta'ala praying and asking
for his forgiveness.
The wukuf of Arafa
is a very unique event that happens in
the creation
and amongst the living from the human beings.
In as much as it is a practice
run for the yomulkiyama.
Just like everybody will be
equal without distinction with one another in front
of Allah, subhanahu wa ta'ala, on the Day
of Judgment,
there will be no houses or facilities,
There will be no wealth. There will be
no
markets. There will be no buying and selling.
The
focus and attention of all people will be
in one direction,
and that is that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
should save me, that somehow I should make
it on this day.
And it is like in court
before the actual trial starts,
a person can make a motion to the
judge
to dismiss the case against them.
And how lucky and how fortunate are those
people
who plead this motion to dismiss the case
against them, who take a plea bargain with
the Lord and admit their crimes
and promise to atone for them
and that the Lord forgives them.
Allah
forgiveness is not difficult to earn.
It's not difficult. Allah gives it freely to
all people.
However, there are certain rational conditions.
1 is that you should actually
feel guilty about the bad things that you
did. You have to actually admit, I had
no right to do them.
No excuse.
No.
But this sheikh said this and the other
sheikh said that, and everybody else in the
masjid does it. If everybody else in the
masjid burns in the hellfire,
this doesn't bother Allah Ta'an or is it
difficult for Allah Ta'ala to do.
What is it? I feel something inside of
my heart. This is a feeling that transcends
even fiqh. Fiqh is important. I'm not saying
it's not important. We have to learn the
Hakam of the Sharia from the ulama
and
accept what they say as authoritative.
But there's a matter even more subtle than
that, which is that you have something inside
of your heart, you don't feel good about
it, Even if it's perfectly Jais.
Even if it's perfectly
permissible. You said something in a way, you
don't feel good about it.
Even though every mufti in Chicago,
you'll ask and they'll all tell you, and
there's a line of them,
They'll all tell you that it's permissible. If
you don't feel right about it, you should
feel sorry in front of the Lord instead
of making excuses about it.
This is a very simple thing, but it's
a difficult thing. It's not complicated. It's not
hard to understand.
It's simple to understand, but it is hard
to
do. But when a person does it, it's
like they're set free.
How long is any of us going to
fight with Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala?
You wanna fight with him for another day?
You wanna fight with him for another year?
You wanna fight with him until your beard
turns a gray? Do you wanna fight with
him in the hereafter as well forever? How
long is a person going to fight with
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala?
The person who gives up, the person who
surrenders, that person is the Muslim.
One of the meanings of the the root
word of
Islam
is istIslam. It literally means just surrender, just
give up.
I give up. I surrender with no conditions
whatsoever.
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala is not going to
destroy you for that. Allah Ta'ala is going
to love you for that. And so this
is a beautiful day that the believers Allah
Ta'ala gave them
an opportunity to make that plea bargain. And
just because you're not on Hajj doesn't mean
that you cannot make it. You can make
it also inside of your own home, you
can make it in this Masjid, in this
very hour,
you can make it in this very moment.
I ask Allah Ta'ala for forgiveness for all
of my sins, and I turn to Him
in repentance.
The fact that a person has the urge
to do this and is able to do
this, the fact that even this much door
was opened for you,
this is a sign that Allah wants to
forgive you. You don't have to be afraid.
You don't have to run away from it.
How long is a person going to fight
with Allah Ta'ala? Fortunate is the person who
enters the plea bargain and Allah Ta'ala accepts
it and commutes their sentence in the hereafter.
This is the reason also, masha'Allah, the sunnah
of rasul sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, is
that it is
to it is a day that it's recommended
to fast,
and it is a sunnah of the prophet
sallallahu alaihi wa sallam that it's a Mubarak
day that people should focus on their prayers
and on their ibadat, on their acts of
worship. Even if a person didn't fast, it's
too late now to keep the fast in
the morning. That's why I talked about the
fasting at more length in previous weeks. But
just because a person may not have fasted
or was not able to fast, it does
not mean that
they still can't take advantage of the rest
of the day.
The Rasool Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said in hadith
narrated by Tirmidi,
That the
best words a person ever used to call
on Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala,
and the best thing that I've ever said,
and that the prophets before me ever said.
So obviously, it's going to be something important.
Whether you know the hadith or not, you
know what's gonna come after is going to
be important.
The best thing, the best words with which
to call Allah ta'ala, call upon Allah ta'ala,
and the best thing that I've ever said
sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, and the best thing
that any of the prophets before me ever
said, SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam.
There is no God except for Allah, alone
and without any partner.
To him belongs dominion over all things.
You know what dominion means?
Dominion means everything, he owns it. None of
your toys are yours, and your brothers are
his, and your sisters are her. All of
it belongs to Allah ta'ala. What's your father's?
Everything belongs to Allah.
Muslim, non Muslim, tree, sky, planet Earth, other
planets, other galaxies, everything. All of it belongs
to
Allah.
And to Him, all praise belongs. If anyone
ever praises anything good about anything,
in reality,
they're really praising
And he has omnipotent control over all things.
He has the ability to do whatever he
wants.
This is something you can repeat
even if you're not on Hajj, even if
you're not in Arafat, even if you're not
fasting on this Mubarak day.
This day has adab.
If a person says, look,
you have your turban and you
dress a certain way and you're all shaked
out. I'm not really into all that.
I don't know all that much Arabic and
stuff. I don't understand
what it is you said and I'm not
gonna remember how to say it in Arabic.
I'm not even gonna remember it in English.
That's fine. That's okay.
To be a Muslim, you don't need any
of those things.
Remember Allah Ta'ala inside of your heart.
Look, I have to go and work, how
am I gonna remember Allah Ta'ala inside of
my heart? I'm selling people like Coca Cola
all day or something like that. I have
to go back to my job.
At least don't ruin it. This day, just
to be a Muslim on this day itself
is going to have like a great bonus.
You know when you get your paycheck sometimes,
you can say, oh look, there's money that
I, you know, not that it's not from
my hours, oh, this is your bonus for
whatever, right? You get a bonus just for
being a Muslim on this day. Don't ruin
it through sins.
This day, tomorrow, and then the days afterward,
and in general, don't ruin it through your
sins. You don't need a lot of good
deeds to make it to Jannah.
What happens? We ruin things for ourselves.
What happens?
We ruin things for ourselves. May Allah TA'ala
protect us. This is why the Rasul Sallallahu
Alaihi Wasallam it's narrated by Abdul Abin Mas'ud
radiAllahu ta'ala Anhu that the Masnoon Khutba, the
Khutba of the sunnah
That the Rasulullah
Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said that
I see we seek refuge in Allah Ta'ala
from the evil inside of our inside of
our nufus, inside of our nafs
and from our bad deeds.
Of course, the Rasul SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam had
no evil inside of his nafs.
Of course, the Rasul SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam had
no bad deeds.
And he said this he said this in
the seerah of
the Jama'un Mutakalim.
He said it in the plural like we
seek refuge.
Meaning what? All of you you should seek
refuge. And he used to also out of
adab to Allah Ta'ala seek refuge in Allah
Ta'ala ask Allah Ta'ala again and again
to protect us from
the evil that's inside of our souls. Within
5 minutes, everyone can trash everything they ever
did in life. 5 minutes of anger, you
can make such decisions. It will destroy every
accomplishment you ever had in your life.
5 minutes of of of casting off inhibitions
can destroy your entire family.
It can destroy everything good you ever did.
Seek refuge in Allah Ta'ala from the evil
inside of your soul,
from the evil inside of my soul and
from, the bad deeds, from our own bad
deeds that the ill effect of our previous
bad deeds should not catch up with us.
This is a this is a this is
a simple word for the person on Mubarak
days like this, that if you can't do
anything else and you can't repeat a bunch
of Arabic, like, you know, so many times,
and you can't fast and you can't pray
extra prayers or whatever, at least this much
have inside of your mind. Remember, this is
a Mubarak day. This is a day that
the bonus is coming down. We don't wanna
screw up on this day. We don't want
to have our name struck from the list
of the lord's grace on this day.
Tomorrow
is
the This is itself a great blessing.
Whoever has not made arrangements to slaughter an
animal.
Let them do so. I don't know if
you can do it at a local farm
anymore. I don't know if you can do,
you know, make arrangements to slaughter with your
own hand anymore. If not anything else, there
are a number of large relief organizations. You
can choose whichever one of them you find
reputable.
You can send your money and have the
sacrifice done in your name somewhere or another.
For the sake of the Lord, Allah Subhanahu
Wa Ta'ala gave us so much to eat
and so much to drink. There are people
still alive in this world today, but the
only time they have meat is on the
idul adha.
If you cannot eat it yourself, send it
to them Insha Allah.
And the adab is that what this night
isn't night of worship.
It's narrated that the prophet said,
The person who gives life to the
night of the 2 eeds.
That person's heart will not die of fright
on the day that the hearts die of
fright. Meaning, on the day of judgment, that
person will be in safety and security.
Again, if you cannot pray the entire night
just add 2 more rak'ahs than what you
normally do.
Just add half a juz of Quran than
you normally read. Grab your and say
a bunch of times or whatever.
There's so many different adkar and dawats from
the sunnah of the prophet sallallahu alaihi wa
sallam, whichever one is easy for you and
whichever one you connect with, go ahead and
do it So that you can say, even
if my name is at the bottom of
the list of the people who
worshiped Allah Ta'ala in this night at least
I'm on the list.
Then remember
the Messiah of the Eid ul Adha,
which is what?
Which is that a person fasts until the
salatul aid is done.
Don't eat or drink anything from the
time the fajr comes in. Until what? Until
after you've prayed this, And
if you're going to sacrifice with your own
hand,
then it's recommended that you should also wait
until your sacrifice is done.
It is recommended that in these 10 days,
as was mentioned from before,
that the person who is intended to sacrifice
on his or her own behalf or on
behalf of their family, that they not cut
their hair
or, cut their nails.
So wait until after your sacrifice is performed.
If somebody else is performing the sacrifice and
you know when it's going to happen,
then wait until it's done. If you don't
know when it's going to happen, then at
least wait until after the salatulayd
is completed.
And
these days have a special
with Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, one of which
is the Takbeer.
That the Takbeer should be said after every
salat.
After every salat.
There's difference of opinion from between
the ulama of which salawat they should be
in. Malik
said, from Dhuhr on the day of Eid
until Asr on the
3rd day, which is coincides with the time
of the stoning of the Jamarat.
Fifteen prayers.
The most expansive of the opinions that I
know is the one attributed to Imam Muhammad
from the hanaf
which is starting from Fajr on this day
until?
Again, Asr on the
3rd day after Eid. So a total of
23 prayers.
Whichever opinion a person follows, let them follow
it. There's no haraj insha'Allah.
But the Takbir is what? Allahu Akbar Allahu
Akbar, La ilaha illa Allahu
There are different narrations. Let a person follow
the one that they know is right.
But you should say it after the
salat every one of your
5 daily prayers and it should be said
aloud.
Don't hide even if nobody else is saying
it around you. Don't worry. You and Allah
Ta'ala will be just fine.
They're not gonna harm you when you're with
Allah Ta'ala.
These are the things that attract the mercy
of Allah Ta'ala, the father of Allah Ta'ala
that a person should say that God is
greater, God is greater. There's no God except
for Allah.
Allah Allah is greater, Allah is greater.
To Allah ta'ala is all praise. May Allah
subhanahu wa ta'ala accept from us in these
Mubarak days. May Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala make
the Mubarak for for us. May Allah make
make these days the days in which
our plea bargain is made and it's it's
heard and it's accepted in our sentences and
the hereafter are commuted. And whatever we do
afterward,
may Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala put it in
our mizan al hasanat in the book of
good deeds, in the scale pan of good
deeds.
You can take a couple of minutes to
pray from this.
